SNARR Northeast Adoption Center in Brewster
We just adopted a sweet little dachshund from SNARR over the holidays. The SNARR volunteers were absolutely amazing. They work hard to match the dogs to families. Luna is a perfect match for us. They were also very supportive of us as first-time dog owners, providing us with all the information we needed to get started giving her the care she needs. We couldnt be happier!
SNARR, especially Lana, was great to work with. I was honestly surprised how many other rescue agencies never even responded to my inquiries. Lana responded on the same day I put an application in. Communication was great, and we were picking up Elsa within days. The staff at the adoption center were so friendly and you could tell they were truly invested in the dogs. I cant recommend them enough.
We have adopted 2 puppies through SNARR and cant say enough about how great they are! Jessica is so responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. You can really tell how much she, SNARR, and the fosters care about all their dogs. If you are looking to adopt, SNARR is the best choice to go through. Thank you SNARR and Jessica for helping us get the best puppies!!
This is the second puppy weve adopted thru snarrs and so far its been another great experience. The puppy is healthy and playful ( just like the first one)!!! Pickup was easy and on time, and the communication from the coordinator was outstanding! Chris got back to us promptly with any concern we had!! I definitely recommend SNARR to people looking to adopt a dog !
The experience I recently had with snarr northeast has me concerned and saddened. I had been in contact with a young lady by the name of Racheal during the adoption application process and I was approved to adopt. I was specifically looking for a special needs dog as I have extensive experience with them and they have always had a special place in my heart. I was very open and honest about my lifestyle and previous experience as well as what I was looking for. I wanted to weigh out options and ask all of my questions up front regarding different dogs that were avaliable for adoption that I thought could possibly be a good match, to ensure I made the best decision and found the right fit because when I adopt it is forever. I have never given up or rehomed a dog. I had asked questions regarding the needs of 3 or 4 different dogs, all of them were special needs due to paralysis. One dog from the start really had me interested in adopting her however before committing I wanted to ask about other potential good matches as well and speak directly to her foster, after considering everything over the course of about a week I ultimately decided that she would in fact be the best fit for our home. I had spoken to the foster and had all of my questions answered, the foster had even stated she is excited for the dog and me I messaged her a couple of days later to set up a day to meet and greet to which I got no response. The following day I sent a message to Racheal who had been handling the application process and she called me within minutes to tell me that her, another foster named Andrea, and the dogs foster had decided that I could not adopt her or any dog from them for that matter because I had asked too many questions about different dogs. This broke my heart as after this whole process I had finally decided she was the one. I actually had to fight back tears while on the phone. I had been a foster myself for shelters for 8 years, I took in the special needs dogs while they waited for their forever homes. I took in the blind, deaf, paralyzed, heartworm positive, ect. who were better off not being in the shelter. This was finally the time where everything aligned for me to adopt and welcome a new special little dog into my home. I just feel very let down and mistreated by this whole experience. So, I thought I would reach out to the women who owns the rescue Courtney just to let her know how snarr northeast is being run and the experience I had but she couldnt care less, I never even received a response. Its just really sad because they beg for donations and claim their dogs have no interest from adopters and that they really need adopters but then treat people who are willing to adopt so poorly and in the end the dogs ultimately suffer for it because the less they adopt out the less they are able to take in to save others. Really big disappointment for a rescue.
Jessica from Snarr is wonderful to work with. She was extremely kind throughout the process and very responsive to my application and questions. You can really tell that she is committed to finding dogs the best home possible while also trying to meet the needs and desires of adopting families.
I saw a picture on Petfinder of the cutest bonded pair of puppies that just spoke to me. I put in an application and the next day I was contacted by a representative volunteer regarding the puppies. Our puppies were originally in TX at a foster home. We started communicating and fairly quickly went through the process of references and vet references and due to covid a virtual home visit. Once we were approved we were informed that they were up to date on their vaccinations and that unfortunately they would not be spayed in time for the move but we were given a number of locations that handle spaying but we ultimately decided to use our own vet but due to the fact that they werent able to spay, as long as we get things done within 6 months of getting them we would be reimbursed some money. I was put in contact with the foster and we communicated and was sent videos of our soon to be puppies. We were told that transport would a week away and we were informed every step of the way what was going on. We were informed when they left TX and the next day that they may be delayed a little later than originally thought. The day before pickup we were given a detailed instruction on where to go, what to do and how to transmit the donation. The day of was a bit of confusing excitement but went fairly similar to what was discussed in their welcome letter and honestly the quickest exchange; we were in and out within 15 minutes with our new furr babies! They were exactly as described the sweetest, cutest and honestly the chillest puppies going. They immediately fell asleep in the car and we have been enjoying them for a week now helping them transition. Our rep volunteer has checked in throughout the first weekend to check in. We had our first checkup with the vet today and they say they look healthy and seem to be adjusting just great! I would highly recommend SNARR as they gave me two of the sweetest puppies on earth!
This place does NOT show anywhere on their page that you have to be 25 years old to adopt a dog. I wasted 2 hours filling out the adoption form. I was so excited to possibly be able to give a shelter dog a great and loving home, but once my form was reviewed I was told no because Im only 21. I am completely frustrated and extremely upset by this given that I had finally found a dog that would fit perfectly in my home. Dont waste your time.
Dogs are lucky when they become a SNARR dog. They’ve hit the jackpot of rescues. Everyone is committed to these dogs. Watching out for the dogs best interests in every way. From the giving and eager volunteers to the unselfish, loving fosters. Dogs are the top priority. Processors work hard to place a dog in the BEST POSSIBLE HOME. Adopting a dog is serious and we take it seriously. If a person is denied an adoption it’s for a real reason. I love my SNARR family and I’m blessed to be a part of this amazing group!
Catherine and the foster families are very friendly, willing to help and support your transition. The dogs are very diverse in terms of age and selection. We adopted two dogs because they got along so well and had nice dispositions. They also stay connected after the adoption so theres no sense of dump and run.
I volunteer and foster for SNARR, I’ve fostered two special needs pups that both have neurological issues and needed special attention. It’s the best experience I’ve ever done helping these pups. SNARR Northeast goes above and beyond to help these pups. The money they raise for the pup in need goes right to that specific pups care. The rescue is what it is it bc of the awesome volunteers that put in the hard work to save these pups. I highly recommend this rescue if you are ever looking for a new furry family member. 🐶❤️🐾
My boyfriend and I have a dog together and wanted to open our hearts to another dog that needs a loving home. I sent an application for a dog, but I was told the applicant must be 25 or older. So my boyfriend, since he is over 25, submitted an application. They denied him because I, the girlfriend, am 20 and that they don’t adopt dogs out to people under 25. The dog would have been under his name, so I don’t see what the problem is. I didn’t see anywhere on their website, application, or contract that the adopter must be 25 or older. If we would have seen that, we would have sent an application in under his name originally. We are so devastated and frustrated. Over the two weeks that it took to ultimately be denied, we had so many dreams about our future with this little guy. We were so excited. He was going to have an amazing life with us. It’s our fault for getting our hopes up, but this rescue center should have been more clear and upfront about their applicant requirements. I still don’t understand why both of us have to be over 25 if the dog would have been under his name. Also, before they even denied him, they LIED to us and said that the dog wasn’t available because he was being adopted by his foster family. Then a few days later the foster called him when we were told that the dog was in fact still available. This rescue either lied to us about him being unavailable rather than being upfront or they need to have better communication with each other about the availability of their dogs. Anyway, we were then told that they would continue with the adoption process and look over his application. A few days go by, so we decided to call and see if they have had a chance to look over our application. They didn’t even call to tell him he was being denied because of my age. We had to call them to finally get a response. This rescue needs to be more clear on their expectations that they have for the applicants, and they most certainly need to have better communication within their organization. I can not believe that a rescue would be so reluctant to allow one of their dogs to be adopted to a more than capable family. We are both adults that wanted to save a rescue dog and give him an amazing life. This was such a terrible experience. We are heartbroken. It’s a shame, but I hope the dog finds a home.
I wish I could give this organization 0/5 stars. I applied for a dog over a month ago, got in contact with a representative, and then nothing for WEEKS. Finally my application got approved and I was set up for a home visit. I sent multiple texts & calls to confirm the time and received no reply. On the day of the home visit, the representative cancelled and made a BS excuse. Communication is poor, no type of organization for the process. Not worth it. Find another shelter!
As a foster, donator and adopter, me, my family & friends have continuously been involved with Snarr Northeast from the beginning. The dedication and time involved with this amazing network of VOLUNTEERS is an experience that is so rewarding. The mission is, and always will be, for the best interest of the dog. We are constantly trying to save and help the voiceless. We complete families when we place dogs. We try our best and will never stop.
I had a bad experience with a different rescue so I was searching Facebook and someone messaged me about SNARR so I immediately filled out the application and someone literally got ahold of me the very next day!!! The people at SNARR were so incredibly helpful and fast!! They even figured out a way for my new dog to get a ride to meet me so I didn’t have to drive as far!! I’m picking my new baby up tomorrow and couldn’t be more excited....from start to finish everyone was so amazing and dealt with me constantly texting and emailing to get updates with kindness and understanding.....amazing place to find your new FUREVER PET❤️❤️❤️

2022-02-05They had a long line of folks picking up the same day as me, but did a great job of setting expectations as soon as I called to say Id arrived. Very nice person came out to greet me with my new dog Shaggy, and its obvious his care had been well arranged and executed very well by the time he got to me. Wonderful service doing great things... thank you!

2022-05-13Hi. My experience with SNARR Northeast was amazing all the way around. I dealt with Jessica and Jennifer. These two women go above and beyond for the people who are adopting new pets. They are very pleasant and professional. You feel like you have known them all of your life. To me they became good friends. To know them is to love them both. They helped me through a very tough time in my life losing both my husband and my beloved dog of 10 years. I lost them 6 months apart. SNARR needs to be aware of the treasure they have in these two women. I still on occasion send pictures of Willow to them both because to us they are family. If anyone I know is thinking about adopting a rescue the only words that comes out of my mouth are Jess and Jenn at SNARR Northeast. Thank you.

2022-03-17We adopted our perfect Louie (Joey) over a year ago from SNARR. The communication was good, especially considering the high volume of adoption applications during Covid. We were very impressed by the accuracy of SNARRs temperment testing. SNARR made sure we were the best fit for Louie, and we felt very comfortable asking his foster questions after the adoption. Thanks, SNARR - Louie is a perfect addition to our family!

2022-04-20Had a great experience picking up my adopted dog. Was told to submit a payment for spayed /neuter before picking up . Had the dog fixed. Submitted proof and still no reimbursement for the procedure. Everything else was great but dont bank on getting your reimbursement anytime soon.

2022-05-17This sounds like a shady place I wouldnt recommend it, we were chosen to adopt. We selected 3 different dogs. We wanted a meet and greet with us and our 2 small dogs and was told excuses after excuses. We were told if we went by the picture and not a meet and greet wed have a better chance that its first come first serve. On your website it says no refunds. We have bought pets before and no reputable place says no refunds and dont want a meet and greet to make sure pets and humans are all compatible.

2022-05-15Edit: Please stop publicly attacking a teenager. I AM 15!! A child!!! this was the daughter, nobody asked me to post this, I did. My siblings and I are very upset about having to give up our dog. Please stop publicly attacking a teenager. An aggressive response online is not necessary. Especially if it is a response meant for another person. Anyone has the basic right to share their experience with a business online, which is why Google made it available.

2021-12-08After being given the approval to move forward with the adoption, I was denied do to wanting to train a puppy. This training is a set of basic behavior skills. I can possible have the puppy grow to be an emotional support dog. I work in the veterinarian field and more then qualified. Yet was denied, I would love the puppy regardless of the outcome. It’s disappointing to be denied when all you want to do is give all the love in the world to a dog. A happy, healthy, loving home.
