Been a student at Soca for a month now and it’s been a great experience. From the professors to the fellow students - this is a welcoming academy where you’ll learn a ton. Definitely recommend.
This is a great place to train. The instructors are dedicated to every student and they provide a safe & fun environment to practice & learn. Three black belts are there to share their wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend this academy.
Had a great experience with Ron.He’s a professional and knows how to give instruction to the moves. Clean location with plenty of space to learn, highly recommend to anyone interested in trying this sport. You will get a workout and feel empowered by learning this combat sport. Will come back!
Great place to learn. Or if you’re skilled there are plenty of great people of all skill levels. Ron and Christian are both great at instruction and their establishment is awesome. Clean, nice showers, laundry machines. They train hard, open mats for whoever wants to practice. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to be challenged physically and mentally. Bravo.
The facility is really really nice, and showers are conveniently in the changing room. The place and mats are super clean. Most of all, the gym owners and members are very welcoming, kind, and the coaches provide top tier instruction. They provide a lot of individual attention, which is really critical for improvement. Awesome place to train.
Great atmosphere, both Prof Ron and Christian are great at what they do. I learned a lot in just the 3 days I’ve been going. They work with you one on one if you don’t understand a certain move. All the students are friendly and welcoming I recommend this academy if you want to start training in jiu jitsu.
I recently signed up for the gym and am happy to say I found my new home gym. The coaches were well informed, attentive, and were able to give adequate individual attention to each student. I recommend anyone who wants to learn BJJ to come here
Ron and Christian are very welcoming to new and experienced students.They also take time to teach and advise you individually . They are both highly experience and very knowledgeable in the art of BJJ. The location is modern and kept clean to meet social distancing standards. Overall everyone is friendly, welcoming and always fun to be around!

Fantastic BJJ academy! It is so nice to finally have a place to train in Glen Cove! The school is clean, beautifully modern, the professors are excellent, the training experience is laid back and non intimidating. I highly recommend this place.
Took my first class today with my boyfriend and it was amazing. We are going back tonight we loved it so much!!. I have never grappled nor taken Jiu Jitsu. Ronnie and Christian were awesome! They made me feel very comfortable and confident. My boyfriend has other martial arts and wrestling background and were able to cater to both of our level of proficiencies. The location is also very clean which is a plus dying these times !!!!
I personally have trained with Professor Ron and Professor Cris for many years through the Soca BJJ program. Their new academy Soca BJJ Glen Cove is clean, welcoming, and you can definitely achieve your goals on the mats with those two Professors in your corner. Definitely recommend to people of all ages and skills!
One day I decided I wanted to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu so I looked up the nearest one and came out with a family. Ron and Christian are absolutely amazing coaches. They have created a wonderful environment for newbies like me as well as seasoned athletes. I recommend their facility to everyone!

2022-06-28I highly recommend Soca BJJ , Love the instructors, the energy and the environment. My kids just started learning a few lessons and they fell in love. The instructors really take the time and care with each child as well as adult students. The professors are very skilled and they know how to train kids!

2021-11-18I recently joined the gym and am already hooked. I’ve never been involved in martial arts before, but the instructors are great and they walk you through hands-on lessons every class.The instructors and the other students are quick to help each other learn, the facilities are fantastic, and there are a number of classes each day…allowing students to get to multiple classes during the week.If you’ve been thinking about taking up BJJ, I highly recommend joining!

2022-06-30This place is arguably one of the best martial arts schools in Glen Cove and on the North Shore of Long Island. The professors are down to earth jiu-jitsu players and teachers that have spent more than a decade each mastering their skill set. Professor Ron and Christian have also created a school and community that is inclusive and makes BJJ approachable for anyone. My son absolutely loves going there, and it’s become his favorite activity.Prior to this, like most parents, we had him throwing air punch and kick combos at the local Karate dojo not really knowing if it would help him when if the time came to defend himself. And, also knowing that if he ended up on the ground in a fight he would have no clue what to do. At Soca, that is no longer something I worry about. The class is structured in a way that gives the kids practical instruction(drills) while also giving them an opportunity in each class to apply that instruction in short rounds of safe freestyle sparring(Randori.)This structure allows the kids to develop the real confidence that they know they’ll be able to rise to the occasion of defending themselves when the time comes because they’ve had to do it in each class. It also reduces that initial jolt of fear that they’ll feel the first time someone grabs them in a physical confrontation because they are being conditioned to be comfortable with being grabbed in class and their muscle memory and techniques will kick in.So, if you want to spend your money not knowing if your child is really going to be prepared to effectively defend themselves in a fight, then any old martial arts place or McDojo will gladly pocket your loot. If you want to invest in an effective self defense system for your child, then come to Soca. This place is as legit as it gets.

2021-09-24This was my first time ever doing a martial art. Ron and everyone at the gym went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Ron is a very patient instructor, and made sure that I understood what he was teaching me. Overall, I had a great time, and I look forward to many more classes with them!

2021-08-07I have been training BJJ for about three years, and I visit GC often to see family. I was so excited to learn that a BJJ academy opened up so close to my home there. I went in on a Monday night and was welcomed with open arms and smiles. They knew I was from out of town, but still welcomed me to train during my visit there and invited me back for future visits. I am a female and I find going to new gyms to be intimidating, but within just a few minutes (and a very fun and challenging warmup later) I felt so comfortable with the coaches and students there. I had an awesome class and an overall amazing experience so I went back as many times as I could while visiting. The mats are clean, there’s tons of space to change, multiple showers, just an overall great space (also some really great bjj art work) and great people. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you! Osu!

2021-06-21Great instructors, it is a group class but you get individual attention. It is clean and organize, nothing is on the floor and well ventilated (smells well) The students are friendly and welcoming. Great parking in the back. No pressure trying to get you on a membership. They offer a great beginners trial. I highly recommend it. H.A
