Sodam in other cities:
Went here for lunch after seeing the pics of their cheese skillet. The kimchi fried rice, spicy chicken, and cheese are a wonderful combination. Also order their fish cake soup which was a great compliment to the spicy chicken from the cheese skillet. Will definitely return and try other menu items.
Food is decent and services are nice. Good hangout place or for late night snack. Beer selections are limited. We had a good time. The wings are crispy, juicy and big with nice fragrant, but the breading are a little think. Although foods are decent, they dont stand out to get four stars in this neighborhood. Sorry
Been here a few times and cant complain about anything. Nice place and staff, prices and quantity of food is good, quality of everything is decent. Their chicken is the best! Theyre known for their cheese skillets which are for two people so bring a friend or if youre hungry alone. Will come here again.
I’ve been coming here for years and it has never disappointed me!! The Korean fried chicken is one of the best I’ve had and their gimbap serving sizes are pretty big for the price! Every time I go I always get the cheese skillet with spicy pork or bulgogi. Honestly the best combo! The cheese pull is insane and looks great in pictures and videos. It’s a bit far from Main Street but it’s definitely worth the short walk or bus ride!! I can’t wait to eat here again.
A great place for Korean style comfort food, Sodam definitely hit the spot after a long day at work. Not your typical Korean fried chicken like Bonchon, the flavor and texture at Sodam tops any Korean fried chicken I ever had.We ordered the soy flavored wings, the udon/kimbap combo and the Korean style ribs. For 4 people, this was a good amount. Specially when you get your standard banchan and salad on refill, it was definitely filling at the end of the night. The ribs were a little salty for my taste, but the flavor was good. The highlight of the night was definitely the wings, we ordered 20 of them!I will definitely return if I am ever in the crave for some Korean style wings.
Love this new Korean Street food joint!Great selection of food and drinks! I think the entire menu sounds delicious, I wouldve ordered it all if I had more room in my stomach. My friends and I ordered the cheese skillet, chicken wings, kimchi fries, ribs, and tonkatsu. All I remember was when the food came out, my hands and mouth couldnt move fast enough to get through everything. As I was stuffing my face, I almost forgot I had company or utensils. If that isnt a sign to come try this place, I dont know what is. Also it was fairly affordable for the amount of food we had.The staff was extremely polite and friendly, we had a small problem with our kimchi fries and the waiter simply comped it for us.I cant wait to come back for more! Perfect for anytime of the day.
Love the cheese skillet. Comes with Kim chi fried rice, and pick either Chicken Galbi or spicy pork. Chicken galbi was a bit spicy but very tasty. Sodam makes their own rice cake, and its very fresh! If you are the rice cake person, this place is the must. Fish cake soup was good as well. Ill definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday. The stir fry pork skillet was pretty tasty as well as the buckwheat noodles. The soy garlic wings were decent, probably not the best but a solid 4/5.We also got the Mandu but that was closed to a 2/5, did not like the filling too much.
This is modern Korean comfort food, with a focus on cheese. The kimchi cheese fries are so good, I had to come back with other friends so they could try them too! The fried rice skillets are delicious, and the mozzarella is always melted perfectly for plenty of cheese pulls. The cheese tteokbokki is wonderfully chewy and flavorful, and not too hot for those with less spice tolerance. The place wasnt too busy each time I visited, so the servers were very attentive, and more than willing to accommodate any dietary needs or restrictions. Ill definitely be back for more kimchi fries soon!
Hands down some of the most delicious food i’ve ever had. the texture of the ddeokbokki was AMAZING. I generally have a low spice tolerance but the spice level was PERFECT, I rarely come across a spice level like this. I already love korean food so the fusion was a pleasant twist. They were also very accommodating with special requests to leave out certain ingredients. The customer service was also outstanding, definitely the best customer service I’ve experienced out of all my travels to nyc. I felt too compelled to leave a review right away because of how great of an experience it was. Definitely will be returning!!
It was my first time visiting this restaurant and it’s blew my mind. I went here today with my husband and we got the fried chicken and kimchi pasta. The food was banging and soo delicious. The sides were amazing as well. We will surely visit this restaurant again❤️. The waitress was soo sweet and welcoming. Best restaurant ever. Their kimchi, the jalapeño and the broccoli side dishes are sooo good man.
Good food for a good price. I love their chicken, cheese, and kimchi fried rice skillets; never disappoints me! One thing I noticed is that at times a specific female worker doesnt give the best service by looking annoyed and sounding as if she doesnt want to talk to me when I order. One time she got my order wrong and when I called and told her she got it wrong, I was the one that apologized for the trouble even though she was supposed to be the one to apologize. Hoping the place would train their workers a little more to give the restaurant a more friendly and less awkward atmosphere. Other than that, great place for comfort food and would continue coming here.
Tried 6 piece chicken ($9)and spicy tuna kimbab ($7 -ish) for take-out and i must say i would be coming back often now! Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable! But most of all, food is greeeeat- chicken has so much meat, tender and crispy! So fresh! I am going to try other dishes, too! They have a small outdoor tented deck where you can dine but i ate in my car with no problem!
This is probably the most reliable Korean restaurant in the Flushing area. I have been to this place 10+ times and never disappointed me. They got the best korean fried chicken and spicy beef soup (yukgyejang) hands down. Try skillet dishes, noodles, pan cakes, and fried rice. They got my highest recommendation!
After seeing all the great reviews of this place, I bookmarked it and finally had a chance to go.We came here on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and there were a couple empty tables. For starters, we ordered the kimchi fries. For the entree, we had the cheese skillet (kimchi fried rice and the spicy chicken), ribs, donkatsu and the fried chicken. The portions were average-kind of good size to share for 2 girls. I enjoyed the kimchi fried rice but it was sweet as opposed to spicy. I liked that it came in the skillet because there were some parts of the rice that were crunchy. The spicy chicken was really delicious and flavorful- similar to in Korea. The kimchi fries were pretty good. They had enough kimchi and a ton of fries and its big enough to share with a group of 4.Their fried chicken was very good. Although it took a while for it to come out, the fried chicken was flavorful and perfectly fried. They did a good job with the fried chicken. The staff here were all friendly. I would most likely come again for my Korean Street food fix!
Used to be a regular when this place was Kyo Chon. They kept everything the same but the quality of food was very bad. Ordered the it was fried chicken on the menu but its actually chicken wings. The taste was horrible; the batter was very doughy and the wings were extremely greasy.
Although I appreciate there is a Korean Supermarket on the northwest side of town, I seriously think they could do so much better. The large glass jar of Kimchi was $13.99, which is not a bad deal. But then again, I just bought it and havent tried it yet, so I cant claim to how good it tastes. However, as far as the produce and meat/poultry/seafood selection goes... two thumbs down. They lack the variety and freshness of other Asian grocery stores. As a Korean, I sure wish theyd step up their game and clean the place. When I grabbed the Kimchi jar, it was sitting in Kimchi juices in the refrigeration aisle. There wasnt one corner of that fridge that didnt have some Kimchi sauce. Now, for anyone who has eaten kimchi, you would know, that stuff can get on clothing/car seats/anywhere and really project a strong odor. A little elbow grease goes a long way... Please Asiana, clean up a bit. You have so much potential. The banchan (side dishes) corner was very limited and minimal as well. Sadly, I would recommend this place for any non-perishable items such as rice, ramen, condiments, etc. but wouldnt go seek out any fresh items from this location. Would I go back? Yes, but out of desperation of not wanting to drive far down south.
Don’t order from this place. They put on a menu that had the wrong picture and didn’t reflect the items and descriptions. Making us misplace the wrong order for food we didn’t want. And after the fact. Didn’t honor to resolve the problem and pushed to the delivery company and others. Irresponsible and poor customer service.
Sodam is a nice place for a late-night snack if you have the munchies and are craving ostentatious street food. However, the service is extremely slow (we thought the next ice age would arrive faster than our order) and the banchan is scanty and unnecessarily minuscule for a Korean-style restaurant. They also had the AC on blast, even though it was probably the coldest day of the year. Would highly recommend the BBQ pork ribs, which are quite delicious, especially if you have nothing else to do that day and want to catch a cold.
Pre-pandemic, this would’ve been a 5. It used to be my favorite restaurant and I’d eat here at least once a month.Post-pandemic, quality and taste are not what they used to be. I don’t know if they switched up the ingredients or what but definitely not the same. I once got less quantity than usual while the price was higher. I’m okay with higher prices but giving less quantity is not cool.
A place where you can enjoy snack food, Korean food, chicken, etc. at a low price.. The owner is in charge of the kitchen, so you can trust it more than other places.. The price is good.. The food is clean and delicious.. The bean sprouts soup is served in a hot earthenware. Spicy...Cold cold at 12 fires! Haejangdo!~The place I look for because I fall in love with bean sprouts soup..
Its a Korean restaurant, so I write in Korean. Food is really good. However, the young man serving the server is very rude. When I answer the phone, they just say This is a restaurant. If you ask Are you going to post xx?, I say yes with a short answer. When you go to pick up food, after paying, say Thank you. Come again, bye bye.A few days ago, a group of people came in and sat down at a table, so while picking up food, I heard exactly what it was, and he said, What is that? I doubted my ears.As a guest, I really dont understand why you say what is that.Is it like sitting at the reservation table? Even so, saying what is that is the worst. If you do not enter and are not guided, you sit at an empty table, and it is beyond your imagination to see it and say what it is.Even if its the bosss son, you have to fire him from his position as an employee, and if you see this guy, find another part-time job. I am not inclined to work in the service industry.

2022-06-26Tasty Korean restaurant with delicious bowls. We came as a party of 5 and ordered 3 bowls as well as some sides. The rice bowls are not as large as it seem on the menu but will be quite enough if you don’t wish to take in too much carbs. The secret skillet is definitely their signature and worth a try. The eggs around the rice taste like cheese and when you mix them with the rice it’s amazing. Another recommendation is the beef bowl which is the stewed short ribs in Korean style. Beefs are tender and sweet which are great. However they don’t have much to offer for the spicy foods even with labels of three chili, and I guess that’s because they’ve customized to show the good taste of the food. Service is great but the wait time for dishes are long and we were hungry. Generally a 4/5.

2022-03-13Dinner on a Saturday night, I expected it to be busy. Sodam offers the usual Korean fare, fried chicken or tossed in their sauces, and the like.Service was great. They have a call button on each table to make it easier to order. We ordered their Sodam chicken wings, the secret skillet, and some fries. The menu is pretty pricey but they are larger portions.

2022-01-29Ever since I had galbijjim with a friend in the west coast, I tried to find the dish in NYC. It’s so juicy and tender here and the sauce is not too sweet or too spicy (dukboki is spicier). Soooo good by itself or with rice. Love packing leftovers home to have the next day 🤤. 2 orders are more than enough for 4 people. They have an outdoor extension with plastic windows so a good option in the spring or fall for semi-enclosed outdoor dining.Staff are attentive.Bathroom is clean enough but very awkward when you’re on the toilet and looking at the urinal.

2022-06-14Located on Northern Boulevard 156th St, Sodam is a great family style Korean restaurant with pasta, rice, and fried chicken. We ordered the kimchi pasta, soy garlic and spicy soy garlic half and half fried chicken, the chicken teriyaki with fried rice, and the free Banchan/appetizers. It was all very tasty and was well-made. Service was fast and quick. I would definitely come back here again.

2021-01-31Two tables available for outdoor dining during winter season. A bit chilly but the fan heater helped. Service is good and the food was excellent. We ordered the kimchi corn, kimchi pasta, sodam chicken (marinade and spicy soy and garlic). The kimchi corn was da bomb. I’d definitely patronize this place again.
