Checking into this hotel, suites, something was not working in both rooms - after I had to move because of this. People would enter the room even when you have the Do Not Enter sign. The staff NEVER answers the phone, so you can never getting any answers or any issues resolved. This hotel charged me thousands of dollars for, no reason!! They took $4500.00 out of my acct the very next day and then began to charge my card numerous different amount, in the thousands...they gave me a receipt upon checkout and when I arrived home, the very next day they charged my card another $2500 plus $661 plus $99..to make matters even worse they kept unauthorized charges, pending, and put my acct in the negative for an entire week....do not trust them...they do not answer phone calls or emails...they ruined my birthday.. be careful---this is not. your typical SOFITEL..
LOCATION - Exceptional. Between 5th and 6th Avenue of West 44 Street. To the left you have 5th Avenue, a shoppers dream and easily connects you to Bryant Park, Empire State and Rockefeller. There is also a subway station by the Rockefeller. To the right, you have 6th avenue which is the quickest way to get to the nearest Subway, Bryant Park Station. 6th Avenue has lots of food carts, shops and a supermarket. BUT carry on walking past 6th avenue, towards 7th avenue, and you are there, at Time Square! Its less than a 10 minute walk from Time Square, so close enough to continuously enjoy but not too close, which means its not always crazy busy when you leave your hotel! We really liked the location and found it perfect to get to most attractions. There is a Starbucks on the road behind (West 45 Street) and a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robins on the road in front (West 42 Street).ROOM - Nothing fancy, not modern, but very clean. Good bathrooms, with a spacious shower unit and separate bath tub. Decent amenities, but no hotel slippers, no coffee machines etc.HOTEL ITSELF - Decent, not the best Sofitel for sure. The lobby is small. Small gym downstairs with good equipment.PROBLEMS - No heating in the summer months, and it did get cold and we were only offered extra duvets. We were promised a heater, but this never arrived and when I asked again, the initial manager had finished his shift and the new one told me that it is was a fire hazard so could not be provided. Also, no hot water on one night from 11pm to 5am - thought I dont think this was the hotels fault - seemed to be a problem with the street itself. No SPA but we knew this!I would still recommend the Sofitel for its location!
Don’t let this Sofitel’s lobby pictures fool you. The rooms are below average; more of a regular Novotel room than the standard Sofitel.Londoners did a great job with St. James Sofitel, Parisians maintained their standards with Arch de Triumph Sofitel, and even Dubai did a good job maintaining standards with Downtown Dubai Sofitel. New Yorkers just flushed all standards down into the sewer. As a diamond member who have stayed at more Sofitels than eaten at McDonalds. This is the worst Sofitel.Below average room. No room service. No welcome drinks. Amex does not work. No drinking water in the room - ordering over phone won’t fix it (it just won’t show up.) Luggage stays down in the lobby until the hotel manager asks the bill boy to take the luggage to the room. Receptionists don’t seem to be enjoying their work. Mosquitoes and flies roam around in the room at night. It’s a complete mess.I hope it’s just a temporary thing due to a temporary situation. I really hope this hotel improves soon. One last thing I noticed here on Google maps. Check it out yourself. They only respond to 5 star ratings and ignore everyone else. How sad.
No food except breakfast and no bar, but their grabage reward company Accor is not supported by this hotel. So if your an Accor member and want reward points for your stay you have to contact Accor which is impossible. Id just go with a better hotel with a reward program that wants your business.
Its like stepping into a very uncomfortable timecapsule of bad taste. Beyond just the upsetting style the beds and pillows seemed like they intentionally chose them to torture guests.Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs unless you like the feeling of mattress springs and flat pillows.
Clean rooms and definitely very friendly service at the front. It was a busy weekend but my party enjoyed staying at Sofitel as we were always greeted with friendly faces, every small extras we asked at the front was accommodated and the rooms were comfortable. Location is also perfect when visiting to explore NYC. We walked out two blocks and we were in Time Square. Will definitely return!
I booked a hotel room at the Sofitel after much research on August 31 (2021) for a special Thanksgiving trip with my daughter. Only 5 days prior to Thanksgiving (2021) they cancelled my reservation by email and told me they had overbooked themselves and no longer had a room for us!!!! Obviously, the person who booked way back in August SHOULD NOT be the person to be cancelled but the person who JUST RECENTLY booked should?!? I am totally disgusted and absolutely furious!!! I have now spent many hours while on vacation with my family trying to find a new hotel in NYC to rebook days before a holiday at extremely premium prices!!!! I wouldn’t trust Sofitel for a hotel stay, NO way, NO how!!!!DO NOT TRUST this hotel to honor your reservation!!!I also emailed the concierge to ask the best place to book nearby for Thanksgiving dinner many weeks ago and never heard a reply!!TERRIBLE customer service!!!!Remember Sofitel, customer service TOTALLY matters!!!
My parents stay here. Service is profoundly unacceptable and revolting. Because they recently reopened you have (i) no breakfast or restaurant (well they still sell the breakfast online despite knowing they can’t provide it. It is an insult to customers), (ii) no room service, (iii) no gym, (iv) no minibar (v) no wardrobe (vi) no sleepers, (vii) no valet (I’m writing this after one night only but there is much more to discover. To be continued). None of this is advertised on their website as you can imagine. You pay the Sofitel price though. This is not my problem that you recently reopened, you are the Sofitel, just deal with it and work harder and stop whining you just reopened.Nobody seems to even care about you. You just check in, they send you to the room and you have no client servicing at all for the rest of the stay. They can’t even advise about where to go for breakfast. There are plenty of nice hotels around in the neighborhood, mostly from Marriott (e.g. Marquis) Just go there but don’t go to the Sofitel. It’s an empty hall where you walk to the elevator and to your room with no welcoming, no sense of “welcome back”. There is nobody for you. You just buy an access to a room.I called Accord group and Sofitel, they don’t have the beginning of an idea as to when they will resume normal services, and most importantly, they couldn’t care less. @Sofitel: don’t respond to this with the usual copy paste sorry message I’m expecting to have but please do provide solid explanations
Everything about the stay from pre stay on was excellent. Easy booking. Concierge help: RunRun and Carlos. Arranging for car service,(Paris limousine-perfect), places to eat that were close ( many many) and to our taste and so much more. While the hotel does not have all on site amenities, did not deter or impede our stay. Great location. Can walk anywhere to anything. Of course. Cabs, Uber, private hire also convenient. Quiet and clean rooms. Housekeeping services did a great job. Felt everyone was working hard to keep guests safe. Always a doorman opening the door and greeting or wishing you well. Bell servers at the ready. I’ll recommend this Sofitel to anyone visiting NEW York. Will stay here anytime we’re in New York. Thanks to all.
There was no stay for my husband and I as it is apparently still closed. I noticed the prior responses place the blame on the 3rd party bookings, if you are unable to communicate/accommodate reservations via a 3rd party, then perhaps you shouldn’t allow them. Additionally, the hotel website says nothing being closed… so, rather than pointing the finger elsewhere, I suggest they start taking some responsibility. I attempted to contact the hotel directly rather than write a public review but it seems they’re happy to accept reservations and money, but not phone calls. Lastly, before the hotel “customer service” responds with some placating nonsense about looking into this, there are reviews dating 3 weeks back with the same complaint which means they’ve been aware of the issue and aware guests weren’t notified, it simply wasn’t important enough for them to do anything about it.
They’re STILL closed. No idea why they are taking reservations. I get that the issue is with third party booking sites, but maybe stop showing them you have availability. All I know is we booked a room, paid for it, showed up after a long flight only to find a closed hotel. No mention on social media or their web page. Just brutally bad communication. Lame excuses aside, clearly this hotel and its owners do not care about their customers. If they did, a simple post ANYWHERE would have done it. I will never make this mistake of booking any of their hotels again. Run away. Run far far away.
Bottom line: Hotel closed, did not advertise they were closed, and cancelled weeks before stayBooked directly through the official website several months ago for a mid-October stay. Other hotels have Temporarily closed tags when you are researching them online, but Sofitel did not have that description. Given this, one would logically believe that the hotel was currently open to guests at the time of booking (late July).Imagine my surprise and frustration when I received an email this morning notifying me that my reservation for 20 days from now was canceled as they are delaying their reopening plans. I, and many other reviewers, were never aware it was ever closed. If it had been made clear at the time of booking, I would have never booked with Sofitel because I would be worried about it not being open at the time of my trip - which is exactly what happened.Thankfully I booked directly through the official website Accor so was notified before my stay that it was closed and would not reopen in time. However, in the grand scheme of things it is still fairly last minute for a trip in three weeks, and so I had to scramble to find another hotel. Thank god I didnt book third party and show up in New York and find a locked hotel like so many other people have described.I was able to get a significantly cheaper deal with The Iroquois next door for a king size bed (whereas I was paying more for a queen bed at Sofitel.) If anyone else is in the same situation right now and trying to find a place to stay, check them out, they have a 30% off Fall Savings deal going on right now. I wonder if they implemented it because they know the hotel next door is screwing people over.I will never book with another Accor SA property because this is terrible and dishonest business practice.
Too much uncertainty involving the reopening just one week before my stayobliged me to cancel my reservation that was fully paid months in advance. They have been postponing the reopening forever leaving their guests clueless. So make sure the hotel is opening or you may find a closed hotel when you arrive.Very disrespectful. Never more Sofitel.
Having stayed at many Sofitel locations before, I was excited to begin my stay at the Sofitel in New York. After paying in full, I showed up to a closed hotel after a long day of travel. We were not made aware of the closure of this hotel in any way, and were met with no sympathy or help from Sofitel, as they seemed to think the hotel should be open as well. We have been on hold and talking to various people all day and have had no help getting our money back. We were told that we were sent an email “minutes before”showing up up telling us that the hotel was closed. Even if this email had been sent to us, which it hadn’t, telling us the hotel is closed the day we are supposed to check in, is not helpful at all.At this point, we are just trying to reach someone that has an idea what is going on and can give us our money back, because if I go off what websites and those I have talked to’s word, there should be people there, which there are not.Am disappointed and surprised by this experience. Stay away. Never again.
Currently closed!I had a reservation made months in advance for tomorrow, but Sofitel made no efforts to contact me regarding their closure. I only found out because I called the hotel the day before my trip to confirm.Even if the closure was due to the flooding disaster (which it was not, based on other reviews), good practice is to still contact your customers and refund them. As it stands, I only got an answering machine when I called, and had to contact the third-party booking site (who had also not been informed of the closure) to get my refund. The hotel looks nice but I would not recommend it with this kind of customer service.
We made a reservation here two months ago, and received a confirmation email at the time of booking, along with another email several days before our stay. Today, upon our arrival, we found all of the doors were locked and a small sign stating they were closed. We tried calling twice and received their voicemail. Furthermore, the hotel’s website doesn’t mention being closed and still shows a booking option. We were luckily able to receive a refund by the third party booking site, but had to rush to book another hotel last minute. For such a well known hotel, we were very disappointed with the Sofitel’s lack of communication and professionalism. They’ve responded to other recent reviews saying that they’ll follow up regarding the lack of communication, but the fact that this is still happening to people tells me otherwise. We were really looking forward to our stay here and sadly won’t come back here in the future.
Canceled our reservation 2 days before our arrival. Reservation was made in July but suddenly they are “overbooked.” I just checked the website and they are still accepting reservations for the same dates. Either there is a major glitch in the system or they are being unethical by canceling lower priced reservations in favor of full priced last minute ones. Either is unacceptable.Edited to add-I “reached out” as requested and no surprise, I have not had a response.
We went to New York for New Year eve and decided to stay at this Hotel. What a great surprise, I knew this Hotel chain as I stayed in France, but this one is just great. Location is excelente, ambience and atmosphere were amazing. The lobby is very calming and the rooms are the best. Everything since we got there was just perfect.
I have an upcoming booking through priceline on November 25th. The hotel states that they are open as of Nov. 7, but Priceline is unable to confirm my reservation. Hotel has no record of my reservation. Huge disconnect between 3rd party and hotel. Really hoping to get this resolved in a timely manner as the place seems well reviewed and when they answer calls, the staff has been nice.
Not only are they accepting peoples money despite being closed, theyre also refusing to give refunds. When people call their credit card companies to dispute the charge, they lie to them too. What theyre doing is criminal- dont just leave a review, call your state attorney General. Even better if you can contact the NY AG office, they dont mess around.
Horrible service! We booked a reservation 2 months ago to make sure we pay a fair price. The hotel is closed, no one there knows to tell us when they will be reopening. Whenever we call no one answers and you have to leave a voicemail. They called me only 3 weeks later (!!!) just to let me know they are still not sure when they will reopen. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there is NO ONE in charge atm, and when I asked when can I call back to speak to a manger I was told managers are not taking care of bookings.I canceled my reservations and the deposit fee were not refunded, and now the prices for other hotels are crazy expensive thanks to this hotel costumers service. Don’t waist your time or money going there.
We showed up to check in and the hotel is closed. The site I booked through claims they did not receive any notice so we didn’t either. I usually can’t get time off so I paid extra to make sure we were blown away by our nice vacation. Instead I was blown away by Sofitel’s lack of professionalism. Definitely not expected from a hotel of this caliber.
This hotel accepted our booking despite being closed. And when Agoda, our third party booking agent tries to contact them about getting a refund, they do not respond. I will be calling the BBB and NY State Generals office to complain about your unethical and quite frankly, illegal practices. It is the pandemic so please do not cheat people out of their hard earned money.
This Hotel is excellent. I proposed to my fiance last weekend and the hotel accommodated us in ways we couldnt imagine. Complied with every request and treated us like royalty from the second we walked in. They gave us a room facing the empire state building and all. Their staff is the best ive met so far in hospitality. The concierge made sure we were taken care of all around and that all requests were complied with. I will never forget this day and this hotel for the rest of our lives ! Thank you guys soo much for this incredible experience my fiance and I are forever grateful
Love Sofitel Brand and not disappointed here. From the moment we arrived felt welcomed safe and relaxed. Great room, lucky enough too have a suite which was fantastic. Loved atmosphere of the place and the staff were all polite and helpful. concierge helped us a number of times, and checking in and out was a breeze. highly recommend coming here. The quality of the hotel is fantastic but when you overlay the location just of 5th Ave and not far from Times square it really works as a great base for NYC
Just arrived home in Montreal from the most wonderful six night stay at the Sofitel New York for a special birthday ! The whole experience from arrival to check out was so wonderful I feel compelled to leave a detailed review. As we arrived quite early in the morning we were extremely pleased to have a room ready upon arrival. Special thanks go out to Amanda and Mateo at the front desk who really went above and beyond to allow this to happen and make our entire stay most enjoyable. It is a nice touch that the hotel now has a guest relations employee to ensure that guests are well taken care of during our stay.We had the most wonderful room on the 22nd floor which was quite spacious and impeccably maintained by the housekeeping staff on a daily basis. The location of this hotel so ideal especially if one enjoys seeing shows on Broadway. We could not have been more pleased with the incredible breakfast we had in the hotel restaurant each morning which happened to be included in our hotel rate. Special thanks goes out to Teresa who warmly greeted us each morning and to two wonderful waiters Benny and Dos who were so professional, pleasant and accommodating with certain food restrictions we had. You can tell that take pride in customer satisfaction and enjoy what they do.We asked for a coffee machine in the room which was provided free of charge and bottles of water delivered daily during the New York heat wave was much appreciated as well!As our flight was late in the afternoon they were very accommodating with late check out as well so we could accomplish some last-minute shopping on our final day!Thank you so much for making this birthday experience very memorable !See you again soon !

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our time here. This hotel is exactly what youd expect from a 4* hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. We had a room on one of the upper floors with a nice city view. Everything was clean and the amenities are good. The service is consistent but not great. Particularly the bell men seem unimpressed and not very keen to help. Other than that a very good experience and wed definitely come back if we had to stay in Midtown.
I love this hotel. They really treat you well. They pay attention to small details. The bathrooms are the star of the room as they have separate tubs a showers with Lanvin bath products. The beds sleep like clouds. They serve wonderful croissants and the lobby has a light lovely fig fragrance. I enjoy the greetings on Bonsoir when I return after a long day. I would definitely return again.
I like this hotel, have stayed here twice. The restaurant, staff and accommodations are all great. The breakfast is excellent here and the bar a nice refuge for some downtime. Would have enjoyed a lounge at this location and not really sure the Accor benefits help with upgrades or priority treatment here.As a Platinum Accor member, for each stay at this property I waited probably 2+ hours for my room to become available and was offered the typical complimentary drink which Accor affords all members.Id recommend this hotel, great location, within walking distance to many good restaurants, shopping and attractions.
Location is good. Hotel is quite luxurious with well appointed rooms and much above average quality bed. The bathrooms are gorgeous. Then breakfast was not a nice buffet but rather a “normal” NY french style restaurant which was grossly overpriced (but tasty) menu.I think the hotel could use a bit of a refresher to be worth 5 stars but maybe I’m being a bit too hard. I still enjoyed my stay.
We booked this European hotel in the centre of Manhattan for a short family trip.Firsts signs of Customer approach of hotel came with a mail to ask the transfer from and to airport needed 4/5 mails to get an answer. At our arrival (2 adults and 1 kid 9 yo), we were given a room which was so small that we couldt fit and at the reception the person said I did not inform about the kid. I have just checked my booking and it is there, I couldt find that night on the mobile as I was tiredThen we needed to swap room the following day with a normal size one.In general the room is anyway a bit old for an hotel of this level. When we left the hotel, we were asked to check out at 11. I did ask if it was possibile to have a room to change ourselves before the long trip, but they said noway, hotel fully booked.Problem is that last day did rain heavily, I was completely wet and I asked a place to change myself and they told me to use the bathroom. I dont mind to not to have a room, but a dirty bathroom is not the ideal place to change clothes. Is it possible no other place was available? I asked for a room and for 3 h they asked 300 USD.But the masterpiece has to come.Beside that the hall is small and there arent many seats. we were waiting the car to JFK. As it was raining we were waiting inside. When the timing arrived I did ask to an employee if there was a car and in a very rude way he asked me with who I did book the car and he asked even the name of the person. So basically the car was waiting and no one from concierge or hotel crew had the decency to inform us. I spoke to the employee I asked first as I was disturbed of his question that I am not obliged to know exactly the name of concierge employee who made the car booking and this guy exploded treating me like I have never been treated, specially in an hotel of this type: he was verbally so rude and violent that it was something never seen in such a kind of hotel. Now when you pay these Dollars in these Hotels I believe we can get a better service. Bottom line of the story is that we were even close to lose the flight for a bad car planning and that the car was waiting but nobody informed me.Honestly a shame
We were able to check in early which was huge plus in my opinion. After being up early and traveling all day to get to New York being able to get in our room and shower and change exceeded our expectations. We were also offered an upgrade to suit and we accepted and it was well worth it. We travel on a regular basis and find we cannot wait to get home and into our own bed, we did not have that feeling this time. The bedding was amazing, and comfortable. We had turn down service every night and fresh towels in our room when we returned every evening. The entire staff was always friendly. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again.
This property was ok, I have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this one was just ok. Nothing spectacular. They did have good service though the first night I was there the shower was not draining fast enough and I called and they sent someone up in 5 minutes to repair it. Every time I called housekeeping they literally came within 5 minutes. So customer service was great but the room itself was just ok BUT IT WAS CLEAN!! And a plus is the TV allows you to Cast your netflix. The location is what made me pick the hotel, the location is excellent.
If I could give negative or zero stars I would, we booked our October trip in JUNE and was never notified that this hotel was closer or will not be available for our reservation. The website is a useless tool and I even checked it multiple times before our trip and there is NOTHING on there regarding the hotel being closed. Their customer service has so far been useless and I am beyond frustrated. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.
The bed is very comfortable. It is firm but has a feather bed topper. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is big. The shampoo and other toiletries and enjoyable. I love the qtips, cotton pads, and nail files provided. It was a pleasant surprise to discover slippers and a robe in the closet
Stayed here 12 years ago, and again recently. Its a great spot close to times square. The rooms are ok, a bit dated, and no decent views, but good enough. The door guys were excellent. The concierges were just ok. Nothing like Rene from 12 years ago.The food was bad. I enjoyed the food back in our first visit, but its really gone bad. Breakfast was poor. All in all it is a decent hotel, that is no longer living up to its full potential. We stayed at 4 sofitels on this trip and this one was not up to the level of the other 3. Only 3 star, but should be 4 or better.
Well, this Hotel is a little bit older. The price is too expensive, even for Manhattan. We booked a 60 sqm Suite and received a room which has never ever 60 sqm. We booked a room for 3 adults. But the sofa bed is unreasonable for an adult. Every morning at 9am we were disturbed, asking when we leave the room. And at arriving, at 3pm, we had to wait, because the room was not ready. Cleanliness in the room is not perfect. Really not worth the money. We will not stay again in this Hotel. Nevertheless: The Hotel is well situated and quiet. Room Service responds fast.
Great hotel. Stayed as a family of 5 in August 2018. We had a one bed apart and a superior room connecting which turned out to be a haven cornered apartment. Staff was very helpful and friendly to my children. Food was really good. As a Le Club Accor hotel member, this hotel is always my first choice when traveling for leisure especially with family.
We felt very welcomed and valued by staff, a special thank you to Danial Harpaz who made our stay extra special with his warm hospitality, thoughtfulness and knowledge of the city. Our room was comfortable and the hotel perfectly situated for our needs. The concierge team were marvellous and everyone on the reception desk very helpful and eager to please. We will definitely recommend and come back again. The hotel is stylish and smart but low-key, it has a genuinely lovely atmosphere. Fabulous!
Loved your hotel - reception staff welcoming and accomodating - we had a great room service dinner and enjoyed some drinks in your bar. Room was lovely and serviced well. Only issue was the male concierge who, when asked for a recommendation for a car service to JFK, would only recommend the one that we could charge to our room which was at least 60% above the others I could see online - he got really annoyed when asked to suggest an alternative and only when I got annoyed at the lack of service at a four star hotel did he begrudgingly recommend another option - he really let the hotel down - I appreciate most people who stay at your hotel probably dont worry too much about prices of things but a service with that much markup isnt good enough.
We had a wonderful time at your hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and quiet--loved the private hallway that adjoined our two rooms. Food and drinks in the restaurant were great as were the wait staff and overall atmosphere. Close to many attractions both by cab and walking. We would stay again. Thank you for helping to make our vacation a wonderful one.
The bed is very comfortable. It is firm but has a feather bed topper. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is big. The shampoo and other toiletries and enjoyable. I love the qtips, cotton pads, and nail files provided. It was a pleasant surprise to discover slippers and a robe in the closet. The view from the 23rd floor is nice.
Great hotel, comfortable room, and perfect location for our weekend getaway. It was our daughters birthday and we surprised her with a trip to NYC for the weekend. I added a note for special instructions when making my reservation asking if Sofitel could leave a special note of some sort wishing my daughter an happy birthday upon our arrival. Not only did they wish her an happy birthday at check in, but welcomed her with a special plated desert with an Happy Birthday message in our room. You helped make my 7yr olds birthday special. Thanks!
Staff very pleasant from doorman to front desk, room service and check out. Rooms extremely comfortable and quiet. We were here for a meeting and the support staff including technical set up and F&B were always attentive and a pleasure to work with. It was a great environment in making for a successful meeting.Thank you to all who were involved! It was a pleasure to work with you and your hotel will be recommended in the future.
I stayed here for 10 days during my last trip to NY. The location by far was the most important and convenient for me. The rooms were clean, I liked that they had a walk-in shower, however the room was really small in regard to how much I paid for.Staff were polite and professional.
I always have a great experience at this hotel. It’s location is very convenient- right by Bryant Park. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are always clean and there are fresh flowers in the bathroom! I also love their beds- they are extra comfy so I always sleep very well here. Beware of the mini bar- it’ll get ya.
WOW!!!! we had always stayed at the Waldorf Astoria but being closed, chose the Sofitel skyscraper suite due to its proximity to the theatres. From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we reluctantly left we felt we had found our home away from home in New York. The room not only being drop a pin quite was spotlessly clean and the bed and pillows were as at home perfection. Wonderful toiletries and a great bathroom, closets filled with everything we could possibly want for a nine day stay and that view. The lady who serviced our room was pleasant, joyous and could not do enough for us. Just when we thought the service couldt get any better we meet Carlos, Geoffrey and Catherine. Nothing was again too much trouble and the level of professionalism and service went to a whole new level. Theatre tickets unobtainable miraculously appeared, dinner reservations what ever we wanted was obtained with what appeared to be effortlessly efficiency (which Im sure It wasnt especially the theatre tickets). EVERY person we encounted during our stay made sure that we will only stay with you in the future right down to the door man who placing our cases in the car wished us well saying he would keep things in check until we returned. We do not usually do these surveys but you should be proud of your staff and hotel especially these mentioned and they should be recognised for going that extra mile to not only making our stay so memorable but promoting and being so proud of their hotel a pride truly justified. THANK YOU and we will be back if we can get a reservation as with this level of service that may prove difficult in the future.
I stay at the Sofitel NYC every year. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed at.Everyone from the Concierge, Front Desk and Restaurant are very nice and always there to greet you with a smile and assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. The rooms are always clean, well maintained and their bed is so comfortable.A special shout out to Mr Marc Grebot the food manager who made sure that I had a pleasant breakfast all 5 days. Also thank you to the dining room staff, they were all so nice, the service was wondetful and the food was delicious. When you enter the Sofitel the scent of their candles is so relaxing. The Sofitel NYC is the perfect location for the Theater, Times Square, Central Park, most museums, Fifth Avenue Shops and the subway.
The room was pretty good- fancy and clean . The mattress and especially the pillows were very comfortable. The washroom was excellent. The view from 17th floor was somewhat fine , as there were many tall buildings around the hotel. Thats the reason I gave 9 out of 10. The food was good. The staff were extremely helpful. The housekeeping was excellent! But the best part living in this hotel was its location. 5 min walking distance from Times Square, 8 mins from Grand Central Station, few more minutes from Rockefellar, and just 2 mins from 5th street. I would definitely recommend others to live in this hotel if the view is not their prime concern.
Although the person at the reception desk when my wife and I first arrived was in need of more experience, we were contacted a few hours later (we had arrive early) and told hat our room was available. Our check-in experience this time was very smooth; out Accor LeClub membership was recognized; and we were upgraded to a room on a higher floor. Small gestures of friendliness and recognition are much appreciated. We ate at the bar a couple of time and enjoyed both the food and the professional service. Our room was just as expected, well-appointed, clean, and with an HVAC system that kept the room at a comfortable temperature.
You will enjoy this experience! My husband and I had a lovely weekend getaway at the Sofitel-NYC. Everyone from the bell boys to staff and registration desk persons were all attentive, helpful and most courteous! The room was spacious, comfortable, well decorated and very clean. the neighborhood was nice and close to Bryant Park, NY Public Library, and walking distance to Broadway theaters and Rockefeller Center. We had a great breakfast at Gabys. The food was delicious and the restaurant setting reminded us of our recent trip to Paris :-)
Chouette, my first hotel review! While I certainly have heard of Sofitel before, I never stayed at one until this past weekend trip to NYC. My boyfriend booked the hotel for only $200/night which is not bad at all for NYC especially in the Times Square/Midtown area.We decided to drop off our bags/see if we could check in early around 8 in the morning. To my amazement, they did have a room available and let us check in. When we went up to the room however, there was clear evidence the previous occupant had smoked. We called down to the front desk, primarily because we didnt want to be charged for a room that was smoked in and because they have a strict no-smoking policy. The front desk receptionist was very apologetic and said they would get housekeeping on it immediately. We went back down to the front desk, where she told us that she would be upgrading us to a king bed room for the inconvenience. Honestly, it wasnt inconvenient at all; we just wanted to bring it up to their attention and not get extraneously charged. It was very, very nice of them to upgrade us at all.Service is top notch. Everyone speaks both English and French and are extremely helpful and polite. This kind of service is on a whole other level when it comes to hotel service.Later in the day, we came back after they had called and said our room was ready. The room was very spacious and clean. There were complimentary waters, free wifi, robes, slippers, glasses/tumblers, a Bose stereo/alarm clock, and other amenities. The bathroom was enormous with a full tub and separate shower with one of those waterfall showerheads. There were even fresh flowers and a candle and matches. They have oversized body towels, which I appreciate since I dislike the small body towels some hotels offer. It rained the weekend we stayed, so we received complimentary umbrellas from concierge. The lobby is beautiful, with plenty of fresh cut flowers and cushy sofas/chairs. Theres a restaurant downstairs called Gaby. I had a pretty good French onion soup and a pot of Darjeeling tea there.Location is fantastic. Right in the heart of Midtown close to Times Square, Fifth Avenue, Grand Central Station.
Had a very nice stay. Every person we came into contact with that worked at Sofitel was extremely helpful and accommodating. The only negative was our room. Bed was very comfortable, however there werent the proper linens to cover mattress pad, and no sheet. Comforter was the only thing on bed, and sheet we slept on didnt stay on bed very well. We kept forgetting to call housekeeping, so it wasnt terrible, just felt like housekeeping was slacking on bed, worth noting. We were a little dissapointed in our suite closet. There wasnt enough room for both of our clothes to be hung. I had to hang mine in bathroom on rack overhang in tub. Again minor, but feedback for you.Given the price point for our room, we didnt feel like the splurge on our suite was that beneficial compared to a regular room. The entertainment center was in an awkward position, and couch wasnt comfortable. It just seemed like a crammed space (poor layout). The entry hall was a complete waste of space, and served no use.It was very hard to get ready with 2 people in the bathroom. Sink area wasnt big enough for the 2 of us.We would definitely consider returning, however, I would not spend the extra money on an executive suite. These are not major things, and I dont want my feedback to be taken as being a hard-to-please.You asked, and Im happy to share. We had a wonderful vacation, and would recommend your hotel to anyone without hesitation. I just wouldnt recommend the executive suite. It left us feeling like we made the wrong choice in spending the extra$1000.00+ rate we paid over a luxury room that we should have booked. We thought spending that extra money on our suite would have been worth it because of places weve stayed on vacation in the past and really enjoyed the extra space and amenities, but this stay we were a little let down by our room.I hope my feedback is helpful.
Loved the fresh flowers in the bathroom. Overall, the room and bathroom were a good size. The Welcoming hand written note from the manager was very nice along with the macaroons and Evian. Very thoughtful!!! The bed and especially the pillows were very comfortable. The room was very clean. The hotel was quiet.
3 stars for good customer service and cleanliness and nice bathroom. Location is good but you pay for the location so that’s expected. I am still shocked how is it 4 star. Anyway they lied on their website that the rooms are sound proof. I spent two nights there but couldn’t sleep because the drunk crowd and families with kids going in and out were making too much noise which woke me up as if it was happening in my room. The elevator was busy all night and I could hear it in my room. People ordering room service 0845 in the morning ladies started screaming in the lobby House Keeping instead of knocking at their door. The bed was horribly uncomfortable I am laughing while typing this review because I am mad that I paid almost 600$ for two nights for this.
We found our stay lovely. Very nice front desk staff. Great location for theaters. The bar offered one of the best drinks (White Cosmo) Ive ever had. It doesnt have the history or richness of its neighbors (Algonquin, Royalton) but it does have a classy, European feel. Would recommend.
We enjoyed the location of the hotel as well as the quiet atmosphere. Although the room was fairly large, the closet space was extremely limited. Not sure why they built the hanger space so small. The room was showing signs of age and use and hopefully is in line for renovation. Carpet and upholstery a bit tired. Housekeeping was wonderful, staff at the front desk and bell hop area were also very helpful and friendly.
The three rooms we booked were excellent, very comfortable. When we arrived at 4 PM, only two of the three rooms were ready so my children and grandchildren were in our room 2217, waiting for 2006 keys (the receptionist said she would bring up the room cards in a few minutes since the room was almost ready} to be brought in. An hour later, I called reception and a bellman brought up the keys. Upon checking out, I received charges for breakfast which were included in the room rate and the person apologized. Still waiting for other charges to be reimbursed because additional charges were incorrect and accounting was working on it. I was assured that I would be reimbursed but these overcharges should not have occurred. Nicholas, the weekend manager, was very helpful in making our stay more comfortable. P.S. One week later, the billing office corrected the statements so everything was then correct. We would certainly return to Hotel Sofitel despite this error. Great accommodations and location.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Sofitel NY, its very beautiful and the staff are professional. The bed was soft and comfortable, the one negative is that there werent any USB plugs in the room. I wasnt able to plug my phone to charge, it was pretty disappointing. Other than that, it was a nice stay in mid Manhattan.
First time in a Sofitel, and I cant wait to book again. The New York location was perfect, central to everywhere I needed to be. Clean, Service/Staff friendly, efficient and accommodating. I loved the fresh flowers in my bathroom and the turn down service. I cant stress enough how much I loved the bed! Most comfortable bed ever! Thank you for an amazing stay!
Honestly the worst experience i’ve ever had in a new york hotel. i checked in at 230 and was told the room wasn’t ready. I understood that T the check in time was 3 pm. I was absolutely assured that when i returned the room would be ready and my luggage would be delivered to my room. at 5 pm when i returned the room was ready and i was told my luggage would be delivered to my room. at 1 am when I returned to my room my luggage was still not in my room. i had to call the general manager before my luggage was delivered. honestly the worst hotel service i have ever received. i don’t think that i will ever choose to stay in a sofitel again. no apologies for the poor service. no acknowledgement of their mistake. no effort to offer service recovery. there are many hotels at this price point in this area. choose at random and you are likely to have a better experience than i did.
Deeply disappointed with stay @ Sofitel this time - does not meet Sofitel standards for cleanliness or service. Will not stay @ this location again. Loved our previous stays @ other locations. Room- My partner arrived before I did and requested to check in early or at the very least use one of our welcome drink vouchers. He had all the information for our reservation, the email, an ID, etc. To verify the information & Sofitel was unwilling to see what it could do besides telling him he had to wait in the lobby. The hotel did not try to contact me or do anything else to see how they could help. At the very least they could have given him one of our vouchers (that we already had!) so he could wait at the bar. The front desk said they would speak with Guest Relations to see what they could do & unfortunately we heard nothing. Then in our bathroom there was some kind of black stain all over. Turns out the sink was clogged & the remnants were found everywhere - on the towels, surfaces, etc. The hotel was not prompt with their handling of the situation or offer anything proactively. We had to repeatedly ask to see what they could do for us since they couldnt move our rooms (we only found out later that it was because they were booked - why not tell us this upfront?). Our bedspread also had a large stain on it. This was changed the next day. Food- Also, we were expecting the breakfast to be buffet style like it is at other locations - the set menu was adequate yet overpriced. $6 for canned juice & $10 for freshly squeezed (both in very small glasses)? And the Belgian waffle batter also didnt taste very fresh. I know hotels overcharge, but this is ridiculous. Go elsewhere for breakfast.
Relatively spacious room by any reasonable NYC standard, with comfortable bedding and a large bathroom (separate shower and tub). A little scattered at the front desk: two hour delay in room being available (5pm vs 3pm) and having to swap from a King bed to Queen room to get into something then. Room had sightly wet carpet and strong cleaner smell (recently shampooed carpet?) - would overall net out to ok versus feeling like a very luxurious experience especially at the price point.
Last visited in February 2019 as a family with a 13yo teenager. Stayed in room 1222, 1 bedroom suite with king bed and city viewNice lampshades. Music playing in the room upon arrival. It’s our favorite hotel in NYC. My husband had enough Accorhotels points for us to stay several nights in Sofitel NYC several years ago, and we keep coming back whenever we can.The staff speaks fluent French and there are a lot of French clients staying here. This adds a European chic to the place. The hotel is well staffed, the service is fast and efficient, be it a reception seat, bell desk or just a passing by employee. The walls are decorated with beautiful black and white photos of Paris. For the Valentines weekend in 2019 they had a beautiful display of oil-paintings of hearts by Fer Da Silva. The rooms have nice views over the city. If you get city view, you won’t see New York lights, but the rooms will still offer views over nearby buildings representing New York at its finest and most importantly they will be quiet which is not easy to find in this city that never sleeps. The beds and bedding requires a special mention. I usually don’t sleep well in hotels. It’s either too hot or too soft or there’s something else that’s wrong. This hotel has its special bedding brand. The mattress, pillows, duvet and bed linen are super soft. I’ve had my best night’s sleep in I don’t know how long time.We especially enjoyed the Valentines display. In every hall on the 1st floor there were framed oil painting of hearts, of different colors and shades. Very romantic and visually pleasing.Follow me on Instagram @joyofthemoment.travel #JoyOfTheMoment_NewYorkCity
At arrival we were warmly greeted and as our room was not available we were able to check our bags in for the day. The staff was very helpful and the concierge Geoffrey was especially helpful with our requests and provided great recommendations. It was unfortunate that the room we received had only a view of the rear courtyard though not all rooms can be expected to have the stunning views shown in the online photos; overall the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The only disappointment arose when we attempted to head to the rooftop patio (the selling point for selecting the Sofitel New York when browsing the pictures) only to be informed this section was private for the Presidential suite only. It would have been good to know this beforehand.
We arrived on April 7th at around 10am and the doorman was unbelievably friendly and helpful. The front desk man was very nice (even though he was not able to refund either room for Thursday night which we missed because our flight from Florida was cancelled). The valet brought our 4 bags up and one bag was not ours, and he apologized - took the blame - and returned with the correct bag. I was so waiting for him to blame someone else and he did not. The doormen throughout our stay were all very pleasant. The room was spotless. Our housekeeper (I dont know her name but she was Asian) was amazingly friendly - she would wish us a good day in the morning as we waited for the elevator. We have no complaints and our rooms 2317 and 2318 were perfect in every way. We have stayed before and we will stay again.
The room was very ample and what expected for a suite on that price range, although the lack of a coffee machine was a big disadvantage. The bed was very comfortable and the TV size adequate. One thing that I fail to understand in many hotels we are staying, is the request to be green and do not change the towels on a daily basis, but no hangers are offered to dry such towels in order to use them again without replacing. In our bathroom we had only 1 (one) hanger for the towel and rubs; not logical.
Recent one week stay in July, 2017. Contemporary French hotel that is right in the middle of midtown Manhattan just blocks from the Broadway theater district, Times Square, and some of New York Citys most iconic building. Staff were exceptionally attentive, friendly, and gracious. Room was modern, beatifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom fixtures were modern. We were fortunate enough to book our stay via a deal including free daily breakfast at Gaby, the restaurant on the hotel main floor, and breakfast was delicious! Would absolutely recommend staying here to friends and family!
Great location, comfy bed and good sized rooms. The only thing not to do...order room service. It is worth lacing up your shoes to find a spot no matter how tired you are. We ordered a salad (was okay), hummus (good) and charcuterie (could not eat based on taste/smell/colour of meats ).We would stay here again though and you have to check out the antique shop across the road!Location: near subway, Times Square, 5th Ave, shows
We stayed in a Skyscraper suite for 9 days. The location was brilliant, a block and a half from Times Square, with views of the Empire State building, the Chrysler building and the Rockefeller Center from the South, East and North windows respectively. The restaurant is good (but again very expensive). We sampled a number of dishes and all were excellent. The mini bar was poorly stocked and very expensive with shot bottles of spirits but no mixers. Luckily there was room in the fridge to bring our own. No coffee making facilities was an unpleasant surprise, but there is an excellent coffee house a few steps down the road (Gregorys). The staff were very attentive, bringing up extra bedding to allow my wife to use the sofa bed in the living room to escape my snoring.
Hotel overall was great. Staff was courteous and informative. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Quiet for the most part. Staff elevator made a squeaking noise when it went by our floor. We were on the other side of the staff elevator. Would be nice to have our stay count toward our Le Club status but since we used Chase Rewards website...
The room is quite large for NYC but it is dated. The bathroom door is a bit strange(double doors without lock) and doesnt match with the rest of the decor. The doormen were hardly there, even if they did, they were barely doing their job.The breakfast was good but too expensive, they included the service charge on the bill.My friend ordered the room service the first night and they charged few different fees on the order...
Stay for 1 night on 8/25/19: We got to our hotel and the service was great and prompt. I give cleanliness 1 star. I pull down the bed and find 4 HUGE and long black hairs and makeup all over the pillows. Obviously the sheets were not changed and I am disgusted. I call housekeeping and they send someone up to change the sheets. The man knocks on the door and gives me a flat sheet to change MYSELF, and then proceeds to walk away. I was appalled. Will NEVER return.
Very posh Hotel and it lives up to the Accord brand of premium! It was great to have a hotel so close to Times Square and also to have staff members who are so polite and professional. The rooms are large and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I enjoyed the breakfast service, have their salmon as it is to die for. All in all a great place to stay and it most certainly lives up to its expectations.
Decent accomodation for business travelers. The hotel is in the center of the city which provides good access to amenities. Tourists will like the location given the proximity to various attractions. Room size is smaller, however other amentities like bathroom and wardrobe is decent.
Rooms were a very nice size. Also exceedingly clean!! Staff was awesome. Very helpful. Good location. We really do not have one negative thing to say about this hotel. We like to go to NY once in a while for a short get away. This will be where we stay on our next visit!
We both enjoyed staying in this luxury hotel which has always provided an atmosphere of relaxation and pleasantness. The attitude of the staff from the various departments was satisfactory, effective and pleasant. The hotels central location enabled us to effectively utilize all the tours we planned. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the hotel staff very much.
Great Property in impeccable location. Great service and excellent food. Repeat stay as an Accor member. The lady at the front desk during check in was extremely courteous and helpful. She recognized my loyalty and make check in a breeze. Bellmen were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast at the restaurant was good as well. Checkout was fast and front desk staff was friendly and helpful. My favorite hotel in NYC
The Sofitel, NY should add the following declarations to their website: there is no coffee maker in your room; there is no ice maker on your floor - if you want ice, call room service; it may take over one hour for your bags to arrive in your room and, when they arrive, there may be one less bag than you checked, and then you may be told you gave them one less baggage ticket than you did, and then you may be told it was shift change and the loss of the bag was not their fault, and then the bellman may insist that the only way to solve the problem is to travel 20+ floors with him to help him search the luggage room. And then he may offer you several different bags that are not your own (!!!!!) and then, after searching the room twice, he may tell you there is nothing else he can do and, again, that it was not his fault. And then you may enter the baggage room yourself and find your bag behind their mini-fridge. All this service for a 20-dollar tip. If their customer has not uttered the word fault, the staff should know they leave a horrible impression when they continually deny fault for a missing bag - this is a training issue. We ordered tonic water from room service and received soda water. We ordered two cokes and, inexplicably received 1 8.5 ounce coke, and 1 16 ounce coke. This is miles from attention to detail. The room was a bit banged up, as were the door and furniture edges. We stayed 3 nights, spending 1500, and, on checkout, no one asked how was our stay, no one said thanks. This is a training issue that very, very modest hotels seem to have under control - not so at the Sofitel, NY.First let-down at a Sofitel. I wont stay at this one again. As honestly as I remember it, I believe every Marriott stay Ive ever had was more luxurious than this Sofitel stay. Every Sofitel stay in other cities (Washington DC, Auckland, NZ) was better, and, Ritz-Carlton kicks this place to the curb. The Ritz-Carlton could teach a master class on service - one that the staff here could vastly benefit from. I say this because, based on other reviews Ive read, the manager will soon be along to say my experience is not their standard. It is what it is, and our experience was poor. Ive heard enough not my fault from Sofitel, NY to last a lifetime. Please do better than say its not your standard - fix the problems. One star.
We had our daughters wedding at the Sofitel New York. Lovely lobby, gracious hotel staff and very comfortable room with wonderful view of the city. The wedding was wonderful. Food delicious and arrived hot!I am highly allergic to fragrance and all the Sofitel hotels have fragrance piped into the lobby and the restaurant. The hotel was kind enough to turn down the scent for the wedding.
The hotel is taking reservations, but is closed. There is no way to contact the hotel when you arrive: doors are locked, nobody picks up the phone. Another unfortunate couple showed up, like me, mid-September, and needed to find another place to stay.** Update, there has been no response from the email the responder indicated to contact below.**
A distinctly average hotel. Average service from staff, average rooms average bathroom, average bed....all average. Nothing special at all about this hotel.Close to most attractions which is a plus. One criticism is that considering they are expecting tips staff spend more time chatting to each other than focusing on good service.
This was like going to a grown up hotel after my last 3 stays across the street at the Royalton. I decided to try your hotel after a recommendation sitting next to a fellow businesswoman at db moderne. Rooms have proper light, well organized, very good breakfast and excellent customer service. The only very minor tips I have for improvement are: 1) put something up on the tired yellow walls in front of the gym equipment...not pleasant to stare at; and 2) allow the thermostat to go down another degree or two below 65. For those of us mature folks, this is not cool enough for evening given your lovely duvets.
The beds are super comfortable. Stayed in room 1818 which was very quiet. Spacious room, great facilities. Excellent location. Outstanding customer service. Everyone was extremely helpful, in particular the concierge who had excellent local knowledge and gave us really good recommendations. We were very happy with everything. I was celebrating my birthday and the staff left a lovely chocolate cake in my room. That was a nice touch.
Perfectly located hotel. Just a short walk when you want to be in the center of everything and short walk back when you dont. Beautiful views of Chrysler Building, could also see Empire State Building. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was wonderful, all attentive and friendly. Opt in for the breakfast package, its delicious and served until noon.
Weve stayed at many Sofitel Hotels around the world including the NYC location a couple of times. While it has all the great little touches you expect from Sofitel--this location is not as good as the rest of the brand. At check-in this past weekend we were told our selected suite was not available. When asked to then at least be put on a higher floor we were told nothing was available. We were told to check back the next day and they would reserve us a better room but when we called we were told nothing was available. Multiple times we expressed our disappointment and absolutely nothing was done to make it better. Our room felt like a dungeon only feet from the next building. We always look to Sofitel when traveling but our next visit to New York will probably be in a more accommodating hotel.
We love staying at the Sofitel, received a very warm welcome. Staff always friendly, Concierge and Bell Boys always very polite and very helpful. The room again was amazing, lovely view, loads of space, very clean. Maid service and turn down service excellent. We enjoy the Sofitel as its close to everything. Very luxurious foyer and rooms.
CHARMING AND SOPHISTICATED We adore the contemporary French feel of this boutique hotel. The design features of the hotel are smart, the rooms are well appointed with luxurious amenities. We fins the ambiance to be a delicate blend of elegant yet cozy, and the staff truly delivers in providing an attention to details that even the most discerning guests appreciate and come to expect. I must also mention that it is not awful starting your day with French pressed coffee and a freshly baked pain du chocolate either! Additionally, the location is perfect for walking to and from all that we love to do while visiting Manhattan. We always plan our NYC experience to begin and end at The Sofitel. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
It was wonderful. In addition to a fortuitous meeting with the hotel manager, Marie-Paule Nowlis, which is another story in itself, I enjoyed every staff interaction I had, in the restaurant, at the desk and even the housekeeping staff. I would have given you a 10 except that I called on a maintenance problem that was never addressed. I would highly recommend this hotel for a premium New York experience.
Sofitel was a very comfortable hotel within walking distance of Times Square and the Theatre District. The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable with nice linens and plump pillows. The bath was remodeled and had a separate tub and shower. The room was spacious with a window that opened for fresh air if desired. The street was quiet and our room offered a nice view of green space across the road.
My daughter and I spent 5 nights at the Sofitel and couldnt ask for anything better! The location was perfect, just a block away from Time square and fifth avenue. When we arrived, the hotel clerk looked for quite a while for a room up as high as he could find (he didnt have to do that) and we were on the 17th floor with a perfect view of the Empire State building. The room was comfortable and clean and the beds are so soft!!! The food we ordered from room service was amazing and always fast. They had so many new movies to rent, and so many different accommodations. I want to thank David and Katherine for going above and beyond for my daughter and I!!! We will be returning to this hotel when we come back!!!
Was very happy with our stay at the hotel. A special thanks to Xavier Velez who was very welcoming at check in and was very helpful in printing out our plane tickets for us when we were leaving. We will definitely come back and tell our friends. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The concierge was very helpful with directions. Thank you.
My stay at the Sofitel New York was perfect from check in to check out. This hotel is beautifully decorated. My room was sparkling clean and well appointed. The hotel staff were attentive. I want to thank them for a special visit, as I was their guest of the day and received a few very unexpected, but welcome extras! Even without these, I would rate this as one of the best hotels I have visited in a long time.
I was expecting a 5 star experience at the hotel. The room was a disappointment. Bed was uncomfortable, (room 706), bathroom tub was painted and peeling, doors on the inside of the bathroom has discolored cracked wood. Room was rather small. Restaurant wasnt in sync with front desk of hotel when we tried to explain that breakfast was included in our 2 room stay with 1 person in each room (715). We were in NYC for a 2 day business conference and choose this hotel because we felt it would be the best in the area. The concierge was very busy and helped us with a dinner reservation but didnt seem very knowledgeable about restaurants in the theater area by 49th st. Front desk did allow us to check into 1 room a few hour early because the room was ready. Tried to get the upgrade we were offered but they only could do it for one room. It was just not a superior experience.
Great location and friendly staff. The restaurant is wonderful, some of the best Scallops I have ever had and delicious cocktails. Nice size updated bathroom, and rooms. Would give it 4.5 stars but that is not an option. Not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Times Square but close enough to walk everywhere.
The Sofitel may appear to be luxurious, but sadly, it’s a facade. The staff certainly seems kind, but their actions are not genuine. I had a few problems with my reservation and interactions with the hotel staff. The first being that we had booked a room with a king bed. Upon arrival, they had downgraded us to a queen. We requested that if a room with the initial criteria was canceled by another guest that we be offered a room switch the following day. However, there was nothing available for the days to come... nonetheless, the problem persisted. The problem continued when I requested a roll away bed. They had said that New York law did not allow a roll away bed because of fire hazard laws and that a roll away would not fit in our room. Let me clarify, I had originally booked a room with a king sized bed, a roll away was only appropriate to accommodate the original agreement - but to no avail.I had hustled my way up to my room to assess whether or not a roll away could fit. As an engineer, it could have easily fit without blocking exits. Not to mention, I have stayed at other hotels that were able to accommodate the same request. That’s not all ladies and gents! We had requested for one more comforter, as they had not changed our sheets nor our comforter while we were away. For a hotel of this standard, I expect my sheets to be changed and not to simply have my bed half made. Regardless, they had no extra comforters. How is that possible? You’re trying to tell me that there are no extra comforters? How are they rotating the sheets when guests check out? Are they reusing the same ones without washing them? Seems to be unsanitary to me.With all of this said, if you aren’t a millionaire or have a title with your name, then don’t stay here. The staff will treat you like you’re worthless.
Great midtown location and comfortable rooms. Lots of floors here, so quiet rooms are available on the higher levels. Like the French vibe here, courtesy of photos of Parisian landmarks in the public spaces. Its unstuffy and the service is friendly without being patronizing. Will stay here again.
Uniformly gracious staff, and the rooms small but very well maintained and completely quiet on a lower floor on the south side; the rooms overlooking 45th get a bit of street noise but even then not much. No in-room coffee makers, but hardly needed with a plethora of coffee vendors within steps of either street entrance. The hotel restaurant is small and adequate in a pinch; the staff there is also very good.
Fortunate enough to have met the manager a wonderful lady who took personal care of us beyond my expectations. She was outstanding kind and caring we will always remember our experience because of her!! Our stay did not begin well but as soon as she found out it changed for for the better and kept going. She even personally said goodbye and insisted on doing so. Highly recommended!
We are platinum members which was acknowledged as we checked in at 15:30 on the day of our arrival. Our room was not ready so we were offered a cup of tea in the cafe without charge. Once we were informed that our room was ready, we carried our own luggage to the room.Though we were not upgraded (I presume the hotel was full) the hotel had responded to our request for a room on a high floor - thank you.As Platinum members we are used to our room being prepared with a welcome snack and tea and coffee making facilities. We asked for tea making facilities and were provided with a kettle but not cups, spoons, tea bags, milk etc. On further request we received a coffee maker with 6 individually wrapped paper cups which we reused during our 4 day stay - we made a further request for milk which was provided - we removed a coke can from the fridge and stored the milk in there. We also did not receive our welcome drinks vouchers until we requested them, even though they had been prepared.I also notice that the points for this visit have not been credited to our account.
Loved it spent a week there the location couldn’t be any better only a few streets from Times Square, 5th Avenue fine shopping and Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Bld and the public library with a great garden lunch in the backyard. The hotel has one of the finest New York stake breakfasts in town and the beds are majestic comfortable and the view is not bad at all. Perfect Location on vacation or business right in the very heart of Manhattan.
Lovely hotel with a great mix of French and new York influences; with lots of artistic and art deco touches. Room is lovley staff are great and location so close to time square has made getting out and a bout really easy. Will definitely come back and look out for other Sofitel hotels when we go to other places
Very poor.1. The rooms have no bottled water or coffee making which you get even in budget hotels2. the lifts are appalling. it literally takes 10-15 minutes in the morning and evening to get up/down and just not acceptable for a quality hotel3. Yet again front street blocked off so no taxis could get to hotel, second time this has happened in 2 months once for a film set the other for a parade- is this a regular occurance if so why not warn guests in advance?4. the gym is way below standards for this level of cost and not up to sofitel standards either
From the time I arrived the staff was helpful, courteous and professional. When I fell ill one day and couldnt get out of bed room service even sent me chicken soup on the house. Impressive! I was so happy with my stay that I extended an additional three nights and upgraded to a suite since my children were coming to join me. This is where things fell a little short. The room smelled strongly of marijuana and the bed was no where near as comfortable as the first room I had. My company plans to use the Sofitel NY for business going forward and it would not be good to have a senior executive walk into a room smelling like weed. Thank goodness my children did not arrive until the next day and the smell had aired out by then.
I stayed at the hotel on a recent trip to the area. Everything you could see was very clean. There are hotel employees all around waiting to assist you. The amenities were above our expectations. The location of the hotel makes walking anywhere easy. The value for money is amazing. I was a bit disappointed with the size of the room.
The Sofitel is so good there is a pizza shop nearby and you can order room service. The rooms are very well cleaned before guests visit and the building is well maintained the facilities are so good I would highly recommend it. There is a bar downstairs at the lobby. The Bed is so comfortable. I HAD A FANTASTIC TIME
Excellent time at the Sofitel this weekend. Very impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. I especially have to thank the security guard I spoke with on Sunday afternoon who assisted me with finding a sweater we left behind and arranging to ship it back home for us. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back!
Having stayed at other Sofitel hotels i found the New York one to be of the same standards, and we just loved the comfortable beds. I really like the fact that this hotel is walking distance from some of the main attractions such as Empire State, Macys, Grand Central and also Times Square, but as its off the main street its nice and quite compared to other places i have stayed at. Concierge were great, they were always helpful with directions and information and even with tracking down a cab as you are heading out for the evening/day. Overall this was a great stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone going to New York.
A very expensive hotel in midtown Manhattan. I was there for business and was mandated to stay there, but I could have found better options in midtown that would have been more affordable. My room was over $500 + tax / night and it was the smallest room I remember ever staying in besides my dorm room. The staff there all is fantastic and the food is good (but again....expensive!)
We were happy with what we reserved and it was our wedding anniversary.During the check-in the Sofitel employee was very aggressive to upgrade us as a gift but still we had to pay ( he acted like a car salesman). i could not say no and disappoint my wife. It is surprising to see such practice at a luxury hotel. The suite was OK but the bed was very uncomfortable.
We felt very well treated the whole time at the reception, concierge, restaurant, room-servce and housekeeping. The treatment was always very professional, but without being cold or unpersonal. Staff kept a personal warm touch, a friendly and polite approach, flexibility to please and eagerness to walk the extra step to satisfy. The instalations are also very clean and pleasant, with a discreet sofisticated and elegant atmosphere.
Great location. In walking distance of all major attractions. The service at the hotel however is not that of a 4.5 star hotel. The houskeeping was lacking and the staffs attitude very impersonal. There was also a major problem with the elevators. Took an average of over 3 minutes each time we used them.
We arrived very late at the hotel due to a three flight delay. Our reservation could not be found but another reservation clerk assigned a room for us. Some elements of the room were not functioning properly. The cordless phone did not work and the main lamp was not working. On the second night, our room keys did not work and we had to return three times to the main reception for new keys. And the keys still did not work. A maintenance person came and reprogrammed the lock. It worked. But next morning, the lock malfunctioned again. The lock was eventually replaced.
We had our wedding reception at the hotel as well as a block of rooms. Everyone was generously accomodating and helped us pull off an amazing wedding day. Darian James could be one of the most talented people Ive ever met. The Sofitel New York is a gorgeous hotel with the most amazing staff.
This is a beautifully appointed hotel with impeccable service. Was disappointed to find the gym had no rowing machine. However still a good selection of alternatives and free weights. I probably would not stay here again as it was very expensive and i was not in the hotel except to shower and sleep.
A beautiful hotel in the heart of Manhattan, close to everything. The staff are courteous and the service is great most of the time. However, if you are unfortunate to be staying when they have booked out the bar to a private party and it’s raining outside you cannot get a drink for a nightcap without leaving the hotel. There is an expensive, poorly stocked (no tonic for the Gin), mini bar or you can order room service and pay a $3.50 surcharge AND 17% service charge for room service OR leave the hotel and get wet and have your nightcap somewhere else. It seems the amount you can earn from hiring out your bar in New York means you don’t have to worry about providing a service to your hotel guests. Rather disappointed, particularly as we were celebrating a birthday and the night ended with a sour note.
Service from booking to arrival was attentive and timely. On arrival the hotel and our suite more met our expectations. On every occasion, our interactions with the team were excellent; always friendly and always on the ball.Bar meals and drinks were expensive. Tried to join the loyalty programme, but simply cant get it sorted.
Edit: disapointed on checkout to have been charged $10 a day service fee for morning coffee and a daily newspaper, but checkin staff made no mention of these benefits. shame an upper end hotel has to nickle and dime customers like this Wont Stay again. Spacious rooms, with a very large TV beautiful stylish decor.
They deserve every 5 star rating they get. While we were there, the union went on strike, obviously hoping to paralyze the hotel. The hotel didnt say that, but its easy to figure out in New York City. They had to turn check-ins away because they wouldnt have enough towels, sheets, etc. But they found accommodations for people displaced and did it with cheer and patience that was truly remarkable. We were there when the union went on strike so we stayed and got to be in awe at how graceful the staff was, though arriving guests were obviously annoyed because they couldnt be told the real story. It was a 5 star experience even with all that, so I cant imagine how great it is when extraordinary events dont occur.
I booked what I believed to be a luxury room at your hotel for a weekend in New York for my wifes BD.We were greeted very professionally at the desk and were provided information about the hotel amenities. We were checked in room 1121 which we found small, dark with absolutely no view. Not at all what was expected and experienced in other hotels as the luxury category. We will not be staying at another Sofitel hotel again any time soon.Claude Dion
Flew in from Atlanta. Flight was delayed. After a shuttle ride that felt like scene from Fast and Furious, we arrived at the hotel at 1:30am am....only to find our booking was canceled!!! (although checkin is as late as 3:00am according the website). To add insult to injury, the front desk staff was coarse and abrupt, and made no effort to accommodate us.As Expedia and the front desk continued to blame each other for the issue, we fortunately we found another Hotel nearby to accommodate us. We were courteously escorted out by security into a cab.Never will I book through Expedia again, nor will I book at at Sofitel, or any of its business affiliates due to the way I was treated at the front desk. I will also be sharing my experience all my corporate associates.
Booked a room and paid for it a month prior to my trip at Hotel Sofitel New York through Expedia. When I checked in, I was told that rooms were completely sold out and cannot accommodate anymore guests. They had arranged to transfer me along with other guests to a different hotel. I ended up staying at Grand Hyatt. Although I have no complaints with the service at Grand Hyatt but the point is, its not the room I had originally wanted and it wasnt what Im expecting. How could they not know ahead of time that theres no enough rooms for guests on that specific dates? I could have had booked in another hotel of my choice if they had notified at least a week prior to my trip not upon my arrival. With the price I had paid per night, I could have had stayed in any other posh hotel in New York. I was so disappointed and would never booked a room ever again at Hotel Sofitel New York.
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the Sofitel NYC. We were upgraded at check-in to a small suite. Breakfast was included in our package which was delicious both mornings ... one served in our room and the other at Gabys. The Sofitel beds are the most comfortable hotel beds weve ever experienced. Overall, our stay at the Sofitel made for a perfect getaway.
Perfect location.I’ve visited NYC many times and this is one of the best locations hands down. Times Square is walking distance, Magnolias is around the corner and you won’t feel crowded. The room was a good size for NYC, housekeeping is A1, the front desk staff wonderful. The restaurant on site was overpriced.
I had a chance to get a very good price on one of the suites ( which I was thankful ) , but during night number2 ( of 4 ) I woke up and heard strange noise from the wall between bathroom and bedroom. I mentioned it in the morning before leaving the hotel and was assured, that the problem would be looked at. At night nobody at the front desk could give feedback if anything was done or not and the noise was still there the following night.I wrote an email to the exec assistant, that had helped with the reservation and never ad any feedback and never was the problem solved. So I basically paid for a room that did not really support me sleeping well....
My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel New York as a splurge for my birthday. We got a great deal on Hotwire, which worked out really well since we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in NY. While the rooms didnt feel quite as luxurious as I had imagined (I guess I dont know the difference between 4-star and 5-star hotels), the hospitality was FANTASTIC. The woman who checked us in at the front desk was so sweet and friendly that it was almost alarming. When she heard we were in NY for my birthday, she had champagne sent to our room! It was the kind of personal touch which I havent experienced at other NY hotels and which I really appreciated. Kudos to the Sofitel team -- keep up the good work!
Im giving this hotel a 4 star we had a great time staying here the decor is very beautiful. My husband and I were celebrating are 2 year anniversary and he got the romance package and there was roses and chocolates and Chardonnay when we walked.I loved everything about are stay well I do have one complaint someone charged ate room with a dinner in the hotel we didnt have which was like 100 buck dinner but they took care of it right away. we see will be coming back.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel in New York. Fantastic location and the staff, especially Christine are just wonderful. The hotel is friendly and has all amenities. I cant express how comfortable the beds are. We look forward to our next stay.
We enjoyed the night at ,Sofitel Ned York city as the first night on our 10 days of vacation in the US. A very friendly welcome by the staff and a complimentary upgrade was appreciated at the arrival, the suite room was great and very comfortable. The gym in the morning was nice and made a fresh start of the day. All in all, a New York hospitality at its best!
Couldnt have had a better experience. We went up for our 6th anniversary and it was all we could have asked for and more. We got married at a Sofitel and have tried to make it back for an overnight every year since our wedding. Although we have not been back every year, the years we do go are always the best. Their customer service is above and beyond every hotel. This hotel specifically was amazing. Thanks Sofitel!
Though the doorman when arriving and when leaving didnt notice me, the lobby welcomed me with elegant marble and fragrant flowers. Even better, Gio, the front desk man, couldnt have been kinder. With new mattresses in the room and the well known Sofitel aesthetic, I was extremely comfortable. A helpful counterpoint to the harshness of the heat outside.
Stayed @ the Sofitel NY in early Sept 2017 for 6 nights. I would describe it as o.k. Price does not equal value, but it is NY. Rooms were o.k., fairly standard and a bit larger for NY, but no over the top quality. Staff was o.k. and house keeping by far the most friendly. No convenient work space to sit in lobby, small space and open. Watch the charges; aside from rate, and typical NY taxes, you have a $10 day Residence Fee and I do not live there. All said, our trip was great, a mix of business / pleasure...convenient location, but i will look for other places to stay on my next trip. p.s. even though i paid for the hotel via Amex Travel, the hotel still bulled me. Amex working to fix that.
Unlike many New York hotels, this is a modern building, but inside much effort was made to give it character. Prices are excellent for the location and the level of service, especially on the weekends. The little bar is nice and intimate and serves good martinis, and youre just a few blocks from a subway station, a nice little park, the bustle of Times Square, and any number of great restaurants and pubs. We got great recommendations from the staff, too.
Good location, excellent and friendly staff, very efficient check in and check out, very helpful concierge and doorman.Lower score based on odd bathroom door that kept banging shut and was difficult to open and odd sheets that kept coming off the mattresses. Also the late night in room dining was very poor- a cold and somewhat old turkey wrap similar to airplane food.
I regularly stay at the Sofitel when I have business in Mid-town. I like the location, the staff are pleasant and the rooms are well appointed. However the changes to the gym are extremely annoying. Just to be clear I work out three times a week, so I know what Im doing, but two major new pieces of equipment have been installed and their use is totally unclear and other basic equipment such as barbells are lacking. No instructions are present, not staff to instruct.
Located just few min walk away from Times Square and five to eight min walk to Grand Central station, subway is also nearby. Spacious clean room, quiet, staff attentive. If you do not mind to eat out before exploring, then just behind the hotel on the 45th is decent casual cafe with great breakfast including cooked varied options.
I was well satisfied with the quality of hotel and amenities provided. Brilliant location. I had breakfast on a couple of occasions which I thought was a bit pricey. This is also the first hotel I have stayed in a long time without in room tea/coffee making facilities.
The hotel was in a great location. Better than the hotel was your employee Xavier. He made a mountain out of my molehill. My vrbo rental apartment was double booked. I was so angry that I could barely breath. He did calm me down and wished good things for me in NYC. I won lottery tickets to Wicked. Well the trip was nice after all. I am very thankful for Xavier and Sofitel.
Sofitel New York (in my French accent) is such a classy hotel! The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were not as small as most people stated about NY hotels. Comfy beds! The price was reasonable, however, it is not necessary to get breakfast at the hotel because there are great breakfast places nearby such as The Red Flame and Cranberry Cafe. Would stay here again!

2022-06-25Vet nice tranquility and relaxing vibe from the moment we stepped in the lobby upon arrival, and each time during our trip. Extremely good location with proximity to Bryant Park, subways and Time Square. Rooms here are more spacious that most midtown hotels (check sq footage comparisons). We had a deluxe King room on a high floor. Very quiet. Nice (but small) bath tub. Room is thoughtfully designed with plenty of shelf space in the bathroom, dual sinks, etc so never felt competing for room to get ready or worried about toothbrush falling on the floor (or worse). Service was great (Eg instantly answer the phone and bring ice bucket within 2 minutes, several times).

2022-05-24I have stayed at the Sofitel New York many times and have always considered it an exceptional hotel; however, my recent visit was not up to its usual standards. I am certainly aware of the pandemic and how it has changed the way services must be delivered, but I dont feel that the Sofitel has adapted or compensated for the new circumstances. Other hotels certainly have managed to reopen bars and restaurants, provide room service, etc. Maybe I can understand why there was no welcoming drink or complimentary candy and cookies in the room, but what happened to bottled water in the room? I did request and get a coffee maker for my room, but the supplies were replenished only upon request. Again, I understand why the apples around the hotel are gone, but the flowers in the lobby were wilted and sad looking when I arrived. What happened to the ice machines and mini-bars? It seems that the time while the hotel was closed should have been used to repair the peeling wallpaper, scratched furniture, etc. Arriving in the room used to be a very welcoming experience with music playing on the radio, a flower and candle in the bathroom, and a throw over the bed. Now none of that happens. The staff is still top quality, but I had to wait 10 minutes to check in. I could go on. Overall, the Sofitel used to be part of my special vacation experience in New York. Now it is just an adequate place to stay.

2022-03-21I stayed at the Sofitel for a total of five nights and could not recommend this place more… If you want to be close to the NYC action but not neck deep in it this is a great spot. I stayed on the 27th floor and it was absolutely impeccably quiet… Everything was wonderfully put together and established. Front desk was amazing, housekeeping was excellent, the door people and concierge were extremely helpful. The room was spacious and extremely clean. Nightly turn down service was an excellent touch! I can’t wait to come back and stay again!

2022-05-26I stayed at Sofitel for 9 nights and had a positive experience and comfortable stay; I found the staff friendly, helpful and courteous; hiccups were quickly resolved (thank you Natalia), my room was quiet and amply spacious, particularly for NYC -- and the bed... in true Sofitel style, was among the most comfortable Ive slept in. Big thank you to Shyhrete and the wonderful housekeeping staff, hardest working folks at the hotel! I would not hesitate to stay here again.

2022-05-117 night stay at the Sofitel hotel in New York City was terribly unpleasant and not at all what I would expect from a “5 star hotel”. There are VARIOUS complaints and shortcomings of not only the hotel, but also its staff. I will list them properly below.ROOM SERVICE/ RESTAURANT:I think this was the worse experience I had throughout my stay. The restaurant of the Sofitel was closed at all hours due to Covid??? 1. Covid is in the PAST, there are no more masks required anywhere around the city (except metros and buses), there are no vaccination certificate required at any of the places I went to (museums, restaurants). I know this is a democrat state but a closed restaurant seems a bit extreme. Clearly a stunt for money saving using COVID as an excuse. In addition to the closed restaurant, room service only worked for breakfast. If you wanted lunch or dinner or even a snack or juice, you had to go out to get it. 24 hour room service is the expected standard for a “5 star hotel”, but the least we guests deserve is room service working from breakfast to dinner. These situations stated above are bad enough, but in addition to this, the mini fridge was empty and there were no packaged snacks available.CARD CAOS:My first bad experience with the cards at this hotel was during the first day. I lost my card, needed a new one, ans the system was down. I had to wait 20 minutes for a new one. This should NEVER happen! I also continuously had to wait 5-10 minutes to get a new card because there was somebody checking in and there was only one person working the reception. In the evening (early evening to late evening), reception was often left unattended. Another big problem I had was the cards itself stopped working after a short period of time (1 day). I would come back to the hotel and couldn’t get upstairs because my card kept being declined. Sometimes, the card would work on the elevator and then when I got to the door, it wouldn’t. Also, on the day I was checking out, I saw a guest checking in and coming back a couple of seconds later claiming his card was not working.BUSINESS CENTER:The printers in the business center are not working.ROOM/ PRODUCTS IN ROOM:My main issue with the room was that there were not proper doors in the bathroom. They were kind of like closet doors, they did not go all the way to the floor and had no locks. I won’t even comment on the towel except to say that in my life, I think I have utilized maybe 2 towels worse than this one. They were also not changed regularly despite us leaving it in the bathtub as instructed. There was only one towel when we first came even though there were 2 guests. The shower gel smelled nice. The pillows were great.SLOW SERVICE:We had to wait 45 minutes for a towel to be brought up to us. When we were checking out, we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to come up for our bags and had to call again. Concierge also put me on hold. Their security head was competent, when I needed assistance he was speedy to come up and was polite.OVERALL SERVICE:Pretty bad service at the front desk. When I needed a new key, about 5 days into my stay, I had to argue with a man for 20 minutes for him to give me a key. He would not accept a photo of my passport or ask me questions about my profile (address, phone number) in order to prove I was me, like most hotels do. As we were checking out, no questions were asked by the front desk if we had enjoyed our stay.ELEVATORS:To end this on a positive note, the elevators were fast.I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes for a pleasant NYC stay! There are many hotels with similar pricing that are much better.

2022-05-27I wanted to leave a more positive review (location and walkability being the most admirable aspect of our Sofitel stay), but I just can’t accept the service I received. We stayed four days and quickly realized that we were not getting what we anticipated with a highly rated, reputable hotel. Accommodations were non-existent (restaurant is closed) and the room did not come stocked with any water bottles. Staff had to be called on multiple times to get simple things done, such as providing bottled water (either they would take an hour to come or not come at all) and checking for packages. I can empathize with being short-staffed, but after straining to be polite with the staff and making sure we always greeted them I overheard negative and unprofessional comments that were being about me that I feel were extremely unwarranted. I hope y’all realize that as much as you deal with hotel guests, hotel guests are also dealing with you… will be looking at other places on my next visit to NYC. Stay if you want a bare minimum experience or just a place to rest your head at night but I recommend looking elsewhere if you do not appreciate being treated rudely or unprofessionally.

2022-05-12Before going, we did our research on this hotel and read all the reviews. We noted the comments about the restaurants not being open, reservations taken when the hotel was closed etc... We also read the reviews about the amazing service, we noted that while the rooms were a bit older and maybe not up to date, the comments stated that they also appeared to be comfortable and well appointed. We booked our stay which was from March 31st to April 14th. Did we run into problems with getting in touch with someone directly at the hotel, yes and had a bit of a hiccup when our connecting flight was cancelled from Montreal to Newark. We were trying to reach someone at the hotel directly to cancel the room for March 31st but each time, we only received an answering machine. We were able to talk to someone the following morning when we called at 6:15am. The team at ALL Accor took the notes and we had the documentation to show the manager upon arrival so we were not charged for not showing up. That was the ONLY hiccup and it was corrected and made right. We arrived earlier than anticipated and were shown to a great room on the 27th floor with a view of iconic highrises. We opted to pay a bit more for a suite which gave this long stay a bit more home like feel. The room was terrific! The service we received over the two weeks from all staff was amazing. Special shout out to our two main guys Ithiel and Elvis - our guys at the door! While all greated us with a smile, these two made our stay that much more wonderful. Yes, even if one of us did have a Boston Red Sox hat on... Breakfast service had just started again and while limited, was tasty with no complaints. The housekeeping staff were all very sweet and kind ensuring we always had what was needed, including extra water and towels. The front desk team, thank you for sorting everything out and greeting us each day with a smile and warm welcome! We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay there again.

2022-05-22For some reason there has been a string of one star reviews of late. Im not sure why. Many seem to be of the overpriced for the value variety. Im not sure if people realize that the minimum you are going to pay for a hotel anywhere in midtown is probably only 10-15 percent less than what you will pay here. And you likely will be closer to where you want to be at the Sofitel (Broadway etc) than those places. The value for cost was appropriate as far as I was concerned.Fantastic people, very kind and considerate. Loved the rooms. Only oddity was the old phone in the bathroom but Im assuming they cant find the tile to plug the holes that removing those would make. Otherwise a terrific, renovated old building. Love the art in the rooms, love the bathrooms otherwise.Main issue is one that plagues all loyalty programs and would only apply to you if you are a big fan of Accor hotels. On the consumer side, you are looking for consideration for frequently choosing Sofitel and Fairmont properties over competitors. On the hotel side, Im assuming they are looking to hold better rooms in reserve in hopes they could sell the room to someone else (and Im assuming there is some incremental cost to cleaning a bigger room also). On the Accor side, I would think they want the hotels to upgrade loyal customers to generate further loyalty. I think often the hotel side wins out, probably for good reason (maintaining margins etc). Nonetheless, it is a minor frustration when one is told the hotel is full while better rooms are still being sold on the Accor website. There really are no perks to having higher Accor status here, no welcome drink, gift etc, I think as long as you are expecting that you can still feel that there is good value for cost given the rooms and location. That said, overall was a great experience and will absolutely stay there again in the future.

2022-05-15Worst 5 star I have stayed for a long time. They admit that they just open the hotel and they basically dont have any people working. One example, no water in the room. No restaurant no room service and worst front office and checking process ever. Despite the fact that I stayed a week ago in Sofitel Chicago hoping to get similar to experience but it was not even Four Star

2022-04-28This was one of my worst hotel stays Ive ever had. The staff was extremely rude, not helpful and seemed miserable to be there. We were told valet would cost $70 total when we arrived so used it after tracking someone down after 15 mins. Low and behold when I get our credit card statement they charged me $70 per day! I would not have used it had I known that. There were no signs and we went off what the Concierge mentioned. When I asked management about it they said they use a 3rd party and couldnt offer a refund. I asked about the Concierge misquoting us and how there were no signs and the manager said sorry she couldnt help us. This was only one problem. The room itself had the most uncomfortable bed Ive ever slept, TERRIBLE pillows thar caused pains in my neck and no body wash/soap other than 1 small bar that was gone after 2 uses.I thought this was a 4 star hotel? How?! The staff is rude, seemingly untrained or mot informed of real prices and further the bed and pillows itself were extremely uncomfortable. The ONLY positive of this hotel was the location. If youre looking for location try it here but you wont be comfortable and you may be overcharged. Youve been warned.
