This is the best thing to happen to Soundview. We easily bought our tickets on the app. The ride to Wall street was 45 minutes. The parking near Soundview Ferry is terrible though. I would suggest using public transportation to get there. The views were amazing and the staff was great.
Bronx couldnt ask for more, perfect place to take your friends and family for a ride.*Here are few good to know info B 4 go there:*So if U look @ da timing, they run on every 20/30 min. 1 way cost $2.75 N it took about N hour each way. N bicycle for additional $1FYI --------------1: Download the NYC Ferry app so U can purchase ticket N look at the schedule N get alert.2: U can purchase the ticket on the station OR pay in cash boarding, this process will force U to enter at last.3: Get on the 2nd floor which is open view to have the best experience. 1st floor is AC N glassed door aroud.4: Have ur ticket ahead of the time N stand on the *LINE* cuz 2nd floor has about 22 seat only. But U can stand there no restrictions.5: all of u have to stand on the line, no family reference. If u r not on the lime u come last. Cuz boat can take max 150 ppl so if u r last U gotta wait for next boat. We were 10 ppl N they had 9 seat so we had to wait for the next 1.6: if u r gonna drive to soundview, have some extra time in hand cuz finding a parking spot is tuff.7: while dropping off someone make sure to stay by ur car cuz police are always there N giving tickets.8: if u r planning to come back in da same boat, u gonna have get off N get in da line. They wont allow U to stay in.
Hornblower came THROUGH for the Bronx. The southeast Bronx has been lacking in viable transportation, and NYC Ferry/Hornblower has made it accessible for these communities to get to work and offer a fulfilling experience for the same price as a metrocard.Plus, does your subway car have a bathroom or serve beer? Right.Worth noting that there is NO parking as it is meant to be a local commuter location.
I enjoy taking the ferry to the city instead of the train. Always clean, rarely any delays (if there are itβs only a few minutes), only crowded during rush hour and even then there still a good amount of space. Each stop, on the Soundview line, is stroller friendly. The 90th street stop is, but you have to do extra walking to avoid the stairs.
Another hidden gem in the bronx many dont know. Have you ever wanted to still along the east river in a boat? Well theres the sound view terminal. Where you can take a ferry for 2.75 each way as far brooklyn. Me I went down to the seaport area for a margarita of course. Especially if you have kids this is a fun way for them to view their city. At night the light are so bright and you get to go under many of new yorks famous bridges. Nothing to do than this trip is for you.
I have to take a bus a couple stops to ferry. Like using the ferry, I only have to cross the street at wall Street to my job. Can see my building from ferry. Only wish that we can get a transfer if we have to use MTA in route. Hopefully that will come. It can become costly for a person that lives in a two fare zone. My only complaint is the Ferry Point Park boat needs to use their bigger boats during rush hour using smaller boats and having more routes doesnt makes sense. There is a lot of people that have to stand early in the morning.
I refuse to ride the bus and subway!I have an electric bike so I ride it everywhere in the Bronx and Harlem, but whenever I gotta run into the city past 96 street I ride my bike to the ferry and then I ride home on the return trip.I love itβs always on time and the staff are nice and will hold the loading dock if they see you running to catch the ferry if you happen to be a little late.
Had some sad times during Covid, I jumped on 39 bus and rode till last stop at any time in the day, not knowing Soundview park near ferry was so peaceful β€οΈ This became my tranquility spot to meditate π§ββοΈ Canβt wait for summer weekends and Iβm goneπ
The water taxi arrived on time. The view of the bridge in the background was nice. The area was clean, staff on board friendly and attentive. For $2.75, the price of the subway, it was a serene ride with some nice bonus views like a helicopter, the bridge and the city. Loved it.
More seating for the elderly would be an improvement but overall a nice dock. When the waves hit the metal scraping the pier makes an awful noise and might make the weary afraid to stand on the bridge while you wait to board. There should be a better configuration on how you board. Standing in line until the boat arrives on a bridge for 20 to 30 minutes is so inconvenient, there has to be a better way.
Beautiful small park with a gorgeous view of the waters right next to a beautiful neighborhood. My directions would be taking the 2/5 Train to Simpson Ave and the take the BX27 bus to the ferry cause it takes to long with the BX36 Route.Ferry Rides are $2.75 each and can be bought with cash in the terminal or with the NYC Ferry App.
I took the SV ferry for the first time because I had to visit Harbor High Schoolβs open house. It was a great experience in the afternoon. I was able to purchase my ticket using the app with ease. Using the same app, I was able to track the ferry schedule and it was on time. Soundview ferry was clean and modern, with lots of seats, tv screens. I loved the access to the snacks and bathroom. The views are great and it is a relaxing experience. Sending my high schooler on this ferry would ease my mind about travel safety concerns and would shorten his trip from 120 mins (living in a deserted area of Throgs Neck and having to take a bus to the train) to under 60 minsβwould be a blessing. However, metrocards are not accepted or reduced fare for students is not an option. Can not wait until the Ferry Point terminal opens in Throgs Neck and I hope that reduced fare options will be considered for students.
Better work needs to be done to organize the boarding process. Customer service agents seem to sneak people ahead in line and cause much commotion for many passengers . A number system would be better. Versus having people stand in line then chaperoning select individuals to the front. Besides that the ride is the best ever as far as speed and direct service.
Great idea.... but no, the parking has become terrible for the neighborhood. Why canβt I find parking across the street from my home at 8am in the morning. This is ridiculous. Whoever is in charge of this lied to the residents saying it wouldnβt affect our community parking, well it does!
1. MORE SPACE2.THE SCHEDULE NEEDS TO BE EASIER TO READ.3.THE WINDOWS NEEDS TO BE CLEANER, THE VIEW IS A PLUS.4.THE STATIONS STOPS AND APPROXIMATE ARRIVAL TIME AND DEPARTURES SHOULD BE ANNOUNCE LOUDER OR CLEARER.5. THE BIG SCREEN INSIDE COULD SHOW THE NAME OF THE NEXT STATIONS AND MAYBE PLACES TO GO OR THINGS TO DO NEAR THAT SPECIFIC STATION.6.THE SING WITH THE 44 HEIGHT KIDS MUST PAY NEEDS TO BE BETTER PLACED.7.WE NEED BETTER PROTECTION FRON THE ELEMENTS.8.WI-FI FREE WI-FI. THE CITY HAS THEM, THE BUS HAVE THEM, THE TRAIN STATIONS.. SO WHY NOT THIS LOVELY FERRY.9.THE STAFF ITS GREAT.

2022-07-03The terminal is a bit small, but its cleanliness was much appreciated. The price of a one train or bus fair to see great view of LaGuardia, and all of NYC from Long Island sound is worth it. Only took about 30 mins to reach the lower Eastside. A worthwhile trip

2022-06-26Very pretty but not a lot to do. Great views and cool breeze. Cute playground. Well maintained too. Took the ferry here and was fun for 30 minutes or so but a little boring after that. Still worth a trip.

2021-09-08It is a very good place to eat, play and any activity that you like. Also, there is a ferry that you can take with just 2.75$. So, bring you girlfriend too ;).

2021-07-20It was really nice to see a ferry link to the city. The ferry terminal is little but gives a great view of Whotestone and surrounding areas. This boat ride is worth the 2.75 100times over.

2021-07-02This is my preferred way to get to the city(East side)!!! Its a longer route and also limited stops but its such a nice scenic ride. All of the stops are clean and neat but especially this one. Schedules are posted. Nice beautiful park to sit and wait for your Ferry ride. The only problem is limited parking and the neighborhood around are serious about people parking in front of their houses. Cones everywhere and if you move them and park, just know your car will get messed with. Buses also get there (not sure which ones, I drive there).
