A peaceful and not well known getaway into nature. I went today (5/7/17) to take some photos, saw some cool frogs and a snake! Although by the time I knelt down to take photos of the creatures, I noticed that I had a few ticks on me, and by by the time I left there were another dozen or so that I found on my clothing. I still highly recommend this beautiful place but take precaution!

This was the absolute worst hike we’ve been on in the pandemic, and we’ve gone on hundreds. The trail started out nice, but when you get deep in the loop there are many boards missing in the decking, loose decking that flip up as you walk, poorly marked/cleared trails, thick/stank mud with just 4x4 “balance beams” in the middle to walk on, piles of dog (or some large animal) poop left on the center of the decking, terrible experience. We went here because people wrote “great for kids”. Maybe the first 1/4 mile is ok - but after that my kids were miserable and so were my wife and I. Skip this one.

Went there December 2nd for the first time. Trail us well marked and level. 30-40% of the walk is on a wooden platform over marshy areas. Area is quiet and picturesque. Probably very colorful in warmer weather. We did not encounter anyone else on the trail.

I enjoyed walking through this peaceful park. I saw some small birds but not much other wildlife. The wooden walkways through the marsh area is a plus! Great conservation effort.! I will be back to explore deeper.

The hike is mostly above the marsh on a wooden platform. It was interesting enough. On our way back we saw deer. The butterfly garden was great. And there are some picnic tables to eat lunch at. The main office wasnt open due to COVID-19, so there werent available bathrooms.

Not much here but nature. I like the boardwalk through the wetlands.

I went here with my wife and 5yo for the first time since I was a little kid. The trails were not very well kept. Part of this was due to branches and trees being downed by a recent storm, which is fair, but there was also sections of the boardwalk that were missing boards. We ended up on the Salt Water Trail that takes you out through the marshes and all the way to the bay and in one section about 1/3 of the boards were missing and may of the remaining boards had come loose and would flip up if you stepped on them wrong. When we were near the end of this trail there was sign that pointed back towards the nature center. We were looking forward to heading out because of the poor condition of the boardwalk and the mosquitoes, but about 50 ft from the sign the trail was completely overtaken by the reeds from the marsh and became impassable. We had to turn around and cross back over the damaged boardwalk and all the way through the Salt Water Trail to the last trail that lead back to the center.

It must have been a great preserve at one time. As it stands now, much of it is overrun by an invasive species called phragmites, which has choked out the native plants and trees and blocked the scenery from half the trail. It made the outside portion boring for the kids. The inside portion is more interesting, but the quarters are cramped and dated. It could use funding, no doubt, and I hope they get help with the trail.

One of my favorite places to go for a nice little nature walk. Always nice any time of the year. Summer, stay on trails because there are some pesky ticks. Good chance you will see some deer and ospreys.
