I stopped in just before closing on Saturday, wanted by to change the lenses of a pair of glasses I bought elsewhere.I ended up buying a new pair of glasses entirely. The staff was extremely helpful, and instead of them rushing me out so they could close, spent quality time with me. I knew exactly what frames I wanted and the salesperson helped me find it.I highly recommend this business and will be back to buy again.
Amazing place!! The DR actually cares about your vision and isn’t a salesman. I had a 5PM appointment on a Wednesday, Saturday afternoon I got the phone call my 2 glasses were ready. Have been coming here for years and will continue to.
I bought my contacts and my eyeglasses from Spare Pair. The woman Lisa I saw was wonderful. She was very patient with me and made it real easy for me. They said my glasses and contacts should be in in 2 weeks..... Believe it or not I got everything within a week of my order!! I go here all the time now for my glasses.
Excellent Customer Service from the front desk staff and the Doctor, who is quite humorous by the way. Went in for a contact exam and was so impressed with the service. The Doctor was very thorough and also took the time to educated me, which was very appreciated. Im referring my relative here.
Ive been going to spare pair for a few years now for both contact lenses and glasses. Dr. Bienstock is always helpful and I love that he explains things thoroughly. The staff at spare pair are helpful with choosing the right frames and managing appointments and updates. However, I was very disappointed with their service with a recent request I placed for a new frame. I was told that the frames were in backorder so it would take a while for me to get them. I was told i’d get a phone call once they arrive. I waited and waited and had followed up 3 times (including an in person follow up when i picked up my contact lenses) and i was reassured that it should be coming in soon. Three weeks later, i called to follow up again and long and behold, i was told that it seemed no one put the order in for the frames.I can understand that things get lost in files or people forget or that it gets busy at times. What i cant understand is how I can be told that the frames should be coming in soon after i follow up with them when all along no one ordered it. I can wait. Time was not the issue. The issue is, how can you tell someone something when the order was clearly not placed. I just dont get that. I hope this never happens to me again because Ive waited 3 weeks, followed up more than 3 times now to only be lied to. Its a shame because i really do like the staff.Moving forward, for those who are reading this review, always make sure to get the name of the person you are speaking to and always make sure you follow up! The associate i spoke to was apologetic and reassured me that he officially placed an order for the frames and that they should arrive in 15 days. Let’s see how this goes....
Immediately upon entering The Spare Pair Vision Center I felt valued. After being greeted warmly, I was directed to the exam room where Dr. Bienstock was waiting for me. He performed a thorough, gentle exam while explaining what he was looking for and what he found throughout the process. Dr. Bienstock patiently addressed my few concerns.Lisa was also patient, engaging and informative during my checkout process.This is my new home for all of my eye care needs.
Great Doctor! Explained everything thoroughly and has a great chair-side manner. The doctor takes his time to examine you unlike others we have been to in the past who rush and get things wrong. My fiance and I have been going to Dr. Andrew Bienstock for 3 years now and will never go anywhere else again!
I visited Spare Pair and I was so very happy with their service. Gina and Lisa helped me and my family. They were both so very sociable and friendly. I will always come to this establishment for my familys eye care!
The receptionist were completely useless because all they had to do is correct our spelling and they didnt do it. My dad tried to ask them to correct his spelling at the eye place and didnt get it done. The eye doctor was very good thats only thing he treated us. Im never going to step foot in that place ever again. Somebody should fire one of these receptionist because theyre out to lunch.
The entire staff makes you feel like you are the only client. I started going myself, and now my wife and both kids are patients too. The eye dr made my kids totally comfortable during the exam, and he explained everything extremely well to my wife and I. The staff always greets us when we walk in, and overall, they make going to the dr enjoyable.
Spare Pair Vision Center is conveniently located in a strip mall and has all of your eyewear needs. Their services are very professional and they have an excellent selection of glasses to choose from. I highly recommend them for any optical needs.
Spare pair really is worth it when it comes to service and quality! The staff there were really kind and professional and Im glad I do business with them. From now on...my glasses are coming from Spare Pair!

2022-08-08I see people have had a good experience at this place where I have not. My examination was rushed and the person doing my eye exam didnt listen when I told them I dont think everything is OK. Now I got my glasses for about a week and cant see with them on, in fact I see better with them off. Nobody seems to pick up the phone as Ive been calling for 2 days to get this issue fixed. Ive left messages and received no reply. So far for me its been a horrible experience and waste of money

2021-08-12One of the best doctors and vision centers on Staten Island! Ive been trying to find a good eye doctor for years and finally found one at Spare Pair Vision Center - Dr. Beinstock. I didnt feel rushed during my appointment, the eye exam was thorough, and all of my questions were answered in a patient and friendly manner. The office staff is amazing as well. Theyre always friendly, honest, and willing to help. Arcelio in particular spent a good amount of time helping me pick out sunglasses. He didnt rush me or pressure me to select a set of glasses and was willing to show me many pairs until I found a set I liked. Thank you for going above and beyond!

2021-07-19My spectacles broke and I was blind as a bat. A friend recommended Spare Pair Vision Center to get a pair of affordable but quality spectacles. This morning I visited and was greeted by a bubbly girl – Diana (if I remember her name correctly). In the absence of a prescription, my old pair of spectacles were taken inside to be inspected by a technician. After a short while, Arcelio came out with all the necessary information nicely scribbled on a paper to get a pair of new spectacles. He was very courteous and professional. I selected the best option out of many he offered at competitive prices. I am so happy that he was so helpful. Last but not least, he fixed my old pair of spectacles to be used till I get my new purchase soon. I am happy with my experience with Diana and Arcelio. Hope the new pair of spectacles will not disappoint me :)

2021-06-08Cant say enough good things about Spare Pair. The people are so nice and they have a great selection of glasses. Dr. Bienstock is great, professional and personable.I brought my 2 month old son for his first pair of glasses and they were so sweet and helpful. He is now 4 and still get his glasses at Spare Pair.

2019-06-10Everyone in the office was very nice and the doctor was excellent. I am very happy with my experience with Spare Pair. I was in and out in less than one hour, which has never happened to me in my 20+ years of going to the eye doctor. I was so happy with my overall experience.

2019-08-06After going to a previous optometrist (twice) and being given glasses which actually made my eyes worse. I came here: A lady named Valerie not only helped me but contacted my insurance and made sure the new glasses I got were both corrective AND...... covered by my insurance. It’s very rare you get that level of customer service and it was massively appreciated.The owner himself is the best optometrist I e seen and I’ve seen 6 in my life. He explained how vision and glasses actually work which made it so much easier to understand.

2017-06-27Gina was incredible. I went in today to get fixed for some contacts and glasses. She went above and beyond to find me the perfect pair. Extremely helpful and patient. Dr Bienstock is extremely professional and informative. I was in and out in about an hour. I have very high astigmatism and to my surprise they had a pair of trial contacts in house! This is unheard of for my prescription. Other places usually have to order a pair of trial contacts which can be a 2 week ordeal, then another 2 weeks to order a yearly supply. This place will be my primary location for all of my optical needs. Other staff is also extremely helpful.
