Spear Physical Therapy in other cities:
I have had a great experience with this SPEAR location and in particular with Jon B. I have been working with Jon for the last 9 months as part of my recovery from ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery last July. In my first session with Jon, I told him I wanted to compete in the NYC Triathlon on 7/11/2021. It was an ambitious goal but with his help I am well on my way!
SPEAR has been an excellent physical therapy experience. Their office is very efficient and super friendly. They were willing to work with me on insurance and co-pays even though my insurance wasnt wanting to cover things. The office itself is really nice and homey yet functional. The staff give great advice and guidance on how to do PT.
Quick to get appointment. And my PT, Don, really listened to where I was having pain even though it wasn’t strictly in my Rx. He showed me how to build up muscle strength around my problem areas. My X-ray and subsequent mri diagnosed that area we were already working on really was cause of most of my pain! Right on Don! And he’s so personable. All staff are welcoming second you walk in door. I’ve been to 2 other Spear locations over the years and have had same experience!
I have been dealing with jaw and TMJ related pain for many years now and have tried everything from different mouth guards from oral doctors, acupuncture and botox in my masseter. Finally, a doctor recommended I try PT for this pain. I have been coming to Spear to visit Jon Bernfeld for TMJ physical therapy twice a week since August 2020 now, and have felt an immense improvement in my jaw related pain. Not only does Jon provide great massage techniques and jaw / posture workouts that I can mimic at home, but always makes sure I am educated on where my pain may be coming from and walks me through my recent routines to catch things that cause my pain to flare up. He is such a happy and delightful person to spend 2 hours a week with, and I am so thankful that he has helped me alleviate my jaw pain when I once thought there was nothing else I could do.
I highly recommend Spear. It is a wonderful place to heal. The staff is both professional and friendly, and its clear they truly care about their patients. I worked with Jon and in my few weeks of therapy hes helped me progress significantly. He tailors (and sometimes invents) each exercise to meet my particular needs, always bearing in mind my past injury and limitations, while pushing me to work towards strengthening my current trouble spot. Thanks to him I have progressed from constant pain to just an occasional flareup, and I can tell Im on the road to recovery. Thank you, Jon.
Jon is an attentive, professional and committed physical therapist. He has been working with me successfully in healing my shoulder and neck and did an excellent job. I was very impressed and satisfied with services received at Spear Physical Therapy after eight weeks of therapy. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend Spear.
One of the best places to recover from an injury or just do some physical therapy. I am a high school baseball player and I hurt my shoulder. All of the staff is helpful and awesome people. They genuinely care about your recovery and how you are doing in life. I worked with Jon Bernfeld and it was an amazing experience. He tailored my workout to my specific needs and got me back to playing baseball weeks earlier than expected. I would recommend this location and these people to anyone. I worked with other people too and they were all equally as helpful and kind. I have been to other physical therapists before and none were as good as Spear. Thanks for the memories and the great experience. Parks and Rec made everything better.
Dr. Jon is the man. Hes extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain not just what youre doing, but why youre doing it. Ive been working with him for about 2 months and feel as though Im recovering quicker and better because of his efforts and the high degree of personalized attention Ive received at Spear.
I never had physical therapy before and was initially skeptical that it would really make a difference. The pain in my knee started to decrease in just 2 weeks! In a total of just 2 months of PT, I feel so much better. My main therapist was Sara Shoemaker. Sarah and all of the PTs are professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. I always felt comfortable asking Sarah anything regarding my therapy. The techs are also really great.Hopefully I won’t ever need to return to physical therapy, but if I do, I’m contacting Sarah at Spear! I would definitely recommend to friends and family!
SPEAR has been fantastic. I’ve been having pelvic floor issues for five years. My doctor recommended Jessica Nielson in conjunction with other therapies. Jessica is great. Very professional, personable and, best of all, effective. I feel so much better after six weeks of sessions. Definitely recommend SPEAR and Jessica!
Don Squire is the best! This was my first time ever that I needed physical therapy. Up until Fathers Day of all days, I was the woman who behaved like Xena: Warrior Princess! Then it happened - I couldnt walk and I was in agonizing pain. After an MRI confirmed I had 2 severe herniated discs, my doctor recommended PT. My good friend insisted I go to Don. She had the same issues and is now running in marathons. My herniated discs left me with nerve damage in my right leg. This resulted in a limp and leg weakness. Don is helping me immensely with getting stronger and stronger, especially as we work to strengthen my bad leg. I am now PAIN FREE!! Yay!! My limp is now very very slight and he and I feel very confident my limp will go away completely. If I hadnt seen Don Im sure the next step would have been surgery. Thankfully Don worked with me to avoid it. I am getting better and better each week with his guidance and exercises for me to do at home as well as with him. Don has been a godsend. Not only is he just an all around nice guy but he is extremely competent and very knowledgeable. He is a total pro who is turning me back into my old self and I am so grateful for his care and expertise!
I’ve been going to Spear Physical Therapy for a couple months and I have nothing but great things to say about the staff. Everyone is always super welcoming, knowledgeable, and I always leave feeling better than I did before my appointment. I recently tore my ACL and Jon Bernfeld helped me get back to walking and working out like I was(maybe even better) before my accident. Highly suggest coming here!!
The whole crew at SPEAR are so engaging and caring. They pay specialized attention to each client based on one’s ability and goals and having worked with both Jon and Don specifically, I feel they are as invested in my strengthening and healing process as I am! Their willingness to always explain the physiological impact of the exercises/therapies in layperson terms is an extension of how strong their medical backgrounds are. 100% trust in this team. The PT is serious, but the environment is fun!
This center is really great with very qualified and talented therapists. My therapist was able to diagnose my shoulder and neck issues of more than a year and correct it within a few weeks of therapy. Not only they provided good care but were very accommodating of not only my scheduling, but also my insurance which was not giving me much options. The environment is very friendly and fun. They all are very friendly and happy people and the center is very easy to get used to from day one itself. In the beginning, I choose this center for its convenient location and connectivity with subways, but I am glad I came to this center.
I’ve been working with Jon Berneld for the last three months and he has been great. He has been very considerate of my condition and has helped me to come up with a regiment to alleviate my neck pain. John is a very positive and encouraging guy. He is always affirming my progress and makes me hopeful that I am on the road to recovery. Overall, it’s been a pleasure working with him! I would definitely recommend Spear to anyone looking for PT. All the staff has been friendly and very welcoming to work with.
The staff at Spear are amazing. Everyone is very welcoming, professional, and very knowledgeable. My PT Jon has been so helpful with my hip pain, walking me through stretches and exercises that target the pain. He takes the time to listen and get to know you on a personal level! Highly recommend this place.
Very pleased with choosing Spear as a place to help me recover from a broken ankle injury. The place itself has very nice, clean facilities, and the people working there go a long way to make sure it stays that way.The trainers are very knowledgeable, professional, nice, and welcoming.I was assigned to Jon Bernfeld to design and supervise my treatment. He took a lot of time and care to assess my condition, and decide what the best way was for me to get better. Due to that, I am on track to making a full recovery. Jon, as well as the rest of the team at Spear, played a big role in making that happen.Big thanks to him, as well as everyone else that works there!
SPEAR Penn Plaza has been instrumental in my recovery from foot surgery, and I could not recommend them and my PT, Jason Ury, enough. Not only did he provide me the care and exercises I needed to walk again, but he also helped me work toward my goal of successfully running my first 10K. Outside of Jason, the entire staff was always so friendly and made me feel at home, especially the PT techs (thanks Ari!). This made going each week a truly enjoyable experience, which I wasnt necessarily expecting for physical therapy. All in all, I highly recommend, and even if the Penn Plaza location isnt the most convenient in relation to your work/home, its worth the trip!
Jon Bernfeld and the staff at Spear (specifically at the Penn location) have been amazing as I get treated for a back injury. The facilities are clean, the staff kind and empowering. Jon is motivating, helpful and impactful — I have trust in his recommendations. He also leads Spear’s podcast (Embrace Your Core) - which has been mentally beneficial through the recovery and healing process. I recommend Spear and Jon B.!
I’ve been working with Emily at Spear for past 6 weeks. She’s been good motivating me thru the exercises that I need to do, for my L5 herniated back problem . She is very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. Big difference in my flexibility on my leg compared to when I started . Huge difference now and looking forward to getting back normal in few months. Nothing but positive vibe in this place.
Don is very attentive to the slightest adjustments, which has not only reduced my pain, but given me the proper form to execute my therapy with confidence. I am feeling the improvements to my injured side, but without neglecting my stronger side. Grateful to the diligent staff & thankful to have found this practice.
When I attended my first PT session, I had no idea what to expect, couldn’t explain my injury properly, and was unsure if PT would actually solve the issue at hand. Thankfully, SPEAR and Jon, in particular, changed all of that. Upon first meeting me, Jon took the time to make me feel comfortable and explained my injury and course of treatment in a way that was both easy to understand and reassuring. Since then, I have felt less pain and improved my form substantially.I would 10/10 recommend Jon AND, as a bonus, his podcast: Embrace Your Core. You won’t regret either!
Jon Bernfield is an excellent physical therapist who made every effort to make sure I was progressing through my therapy. He made nice conversation and I felt that he was always looking for ways he can help me get better faster. He reached out to me when I stopped my appointments due to unforeseen circumstances, and he made sure to set aside time to see me off during my last appointment despite his busy schedule.
Everyone at SPEAR Physical Therapy is professional and kind. Jon Bernfeld has played an instrumental role in my recovery thus far. Here are some of the qualities that make Jon an outstanding physical therapist:Knowledgeable: Jon identified/diagnosed my injury even though it did not have a specific cause. He then taught me about my injury.Attentive: Jon listens and tailors my sessions to my needs.Personable: Jon is easy to talk to and I feel comfortable in his care.Caring: Jon genuinely cares about my well-being.Patient: I am very impatient when it comes to my progress, but Jon keeps things in perspective, helps me reflect on my progress, and reassures me that I will make a complete recovery.
My Orthopedic Surgeon recommended this company as one he has personally vetted and works closely with. The staff are so accommodating with scheduling around your life. My PT Jon is friendly and professional, taking the time to personally walk me through my recovery and tailoring his work for my specific needs. When it comes to your long term personal health, the best care is important to invest in. Spear Physical Therapy gave me the tools to achieve this.
The team at SPEAR Penn Plaza is great! I have been coming here to recover from ankle surgery and have received the best care as I transitioned from post op to fully walking and back to my normal activities. My therapist Jon and the entire staff are extremely knowledgeable and care about each patient. The office is conveniently located and very flexible with appointment times. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need!
The Penn Plaza SPEAR location is the absolute best physical therapy in Manhattan. It makes physical therapy an enjoyable experience. After tearing my ACL and meniscus playing soccer, I had surgery in July and was in for months of therapy. I was treated by Don Squire who was exceptional. He was 100% dedicated to my progress and very knowledgeable. I didnt really know what to expect since this was my first time needing PT but the entire experience was nothing but the best. With my busy schedule, Don would always make sure to accommodate and even stay late if needed. I am now running again with no pain and will soon enough be able to play soccer.Overall, the environment at SPEAR is welcoming and fun. After seeing them 2-3 times a week for about 6 months, I will honestly miss them. Lindsay is one of the nicest people ever, her and Felix are the best at making everyone feel comfortable and supporting the staff all while playing the best music. David Block is leading an amazing team of people and I highly recommend Spear 7th Ave!
I highly recommend Spear Penn Plaza to anybody in need of physical therapy. I went there after an ankle sprain and so glad that Jon Bernfeld was my therapist. He was great at explaining my injury and how he would help the healing process. All the staff at this location were super friendly and made going to therapy a great experience. I am so glad I chose Spear for my physical therapy needs. Also, if you get a chance listen to one of Jon’s great podcasts.
I found Spear PT after a year of ineffective treatments by therapists at 3 of the top hospitals in NYC and I was amazed at the effectiveness of the therapists. Jon did an amazing job on my right ankle. He happily answered all my therapy questions - even those unrelated to my ankle like my persistent lower back problems. I greatly appreciate the holistic approach he took to treating pain especially his advice on breathing exercises and meditation to control pain. I cant recommend Jon enough.
The Penn Plaza SPEAR location is the perfect environment for healing. Everybody is very friendly and is 100% focused on the patient getting better. Jon has been working with me for months on multiple injuries and I have never felt better. He is determined to help me get better and will try anything to make me comfortable. All of the assistants and techs are amazing as well. Highly recommend for all injuries!
I came to Spear physical therapy after breaking my humerus bone in half in an accident. I have never broken a bone before and felt discouraged walking into my first appointment because I couldn’t even lift my forearm on my own or make a fist. I had very little mobility, some nerve damage, and muscle atrophy after finally removing my brace. I felt hopeless. After only a couple of weeks I was able to start moving my arm and grabbing items with my fingers. I have been with Spear for just over 6 weeks now and have almost complete mobility of my arm once again. I am meeting one personal goal after another with each passing session thanks to my awesome PT Jon. Coming to spear was the best decision I have made in my recovery process. The staff is very knowledgeable, inviting, and it feels like they’re part of your family. I’ve already referred them to my co-worker who also joined and would recommend them to everyone. Great place! Shoutout to my PT Jon Bernfeld in helping me through my recovery and getting my arm back! He’s the best!!
Spear PT has become my second home after tearing my ACL this past February. Working with Jon has been great, and coming here pre and post op, has been a big help towards my recovery. The entire staff is also very friendly and helpful, making it a nice way to spend your mornings :)
5 stars. Would absolutely recommend to a friend!SPEAR Physical Therapy has been fantastic. The atmosphere is fun-loving and easy-going, which makes physical therapy one of the most enjoyable parts of my day. More importantly, the team is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and collaborative.I have had the pleasure of working with a number of different staff members and each has unique set of skills and experience that has made my time at SPEAR very productive. Additionally, the facility is pristine and has all of the tools / equipment for any type of injury recovery. While I am excited to graduate from physical therapy, I will definitely miss the SPEAR family.Pro-Tip: Massages count as a PT visit, so if your insurance covers PT, dont miss out!
The SPEAR team is amazing. The therapists are all deeply knowledgeable, friendly and super professional. Working with Jon and the rest of the team has markedly help me regain strength and mobility at a pace much faster than i thought would be possible. I have total trust in them.
I was referred to this location from my doctor. I was a bit nervous at first but once meeting my PT Luis that nervous feeling went right out the door. He is very professional, friendly and caring. I came in with lower back issues with pain running down my leg. Following the stretches daily that pain soon went away. No my shocks running down my leg! It’s amazing. Luis continues to believe in me support me with my workout goals. I never thought I would be able to squat or deadlift again but with his constant support and guidance I actually put up 380 the other week. Overall my experience with Luis has been fantastic. The facility is amazing and all the other individuals/PTs that work at SPEAR are so supportive and capable of tackling any issue. I would recommend this facility to anyone. 10/10
Im super happy with the physical therapy treatment I got at SPEAR Penn Plaza. My PT Jon Bernfeld was very attentive, knowledgeable and flexible and have helped me get back to working out, after a severe shoulder injury + surgery. Furthermore theyve got a very charming and positive personnel and a facility with everything youd need. Highly recommended!
Friendly staff, helpful physical therapist. My time in SPEAR has been quite enjoyable and I am seeing results! I dont have any specific complaints and this is one of the first place Ive ever visited for physical therapy so I have nothing to compare it to. However, as long as I am healing during my visit, Im happy. :)
I went to Spear Physical Therapy Penn Plaza for an achilles injury. I was barely able to walk and severely upset until finding this place. My PT Jon Bernfeld was the absolute best! He kept me positive, and spent so much time with me twice a week until I was healed. He even emailed me exercises and would touch base with me regularly to see my progress. The whole facility and staff were incredible. I actually looked forward to going to PT. I am healed now and back to running/working out regularly thanks to them! I highly recommend Spear Penn Plaza. I am hoping I dont injure myself again, but if I do, I know where to go for help!
Selected SPEAR Physical Therapy following a bi-lateral hip replacement. The team there is incredible from front desk to all therapists and techs - Jason (Jay), is my physical therapist - but the entire team is welcoming and the positive vibes are extremely supportive, especially coming from an extensive surgery where pain and frustration runs high. I actually look forward to my PT appointments - its like walking into an energetic spa where you leave feeling better, energized and relaxed - all at the same time! Highly recommend Jay...Dons cool too.
I began therapy at SPEAR in June 2020 for upper and mid back pain and stiffness. I have been training with Luis. Having spent roughly two months at SPEAR, I have experienced a wealth of knowledge and just a good conversation every week with Luis. My home workouts are consistently updated and followed up on. My concerns are acted upon rather than simply heard. In terms of my pain, there has been overall reduction and it feels like I am progressing towards my goal. Luis knows his stuff. The facility is clean and well maintained throughout even just the hour I am present. Thats an important point especially now during the COVID outbreakI would highly recommend it.
I was in a lot of pain with Bursitis - now the pain is gone! Overall I had a great experience - the entire team is super friendly and helpful - they made the experience fun (amazing considering I went at 7:30 am). I was treated by Jon Bernfeld (PT, DPT) who is amazing! He is patient and knowledgeable and most importantly takes the time to really explain and teach you how to strengthen your injured body part in order to provide for long term improvement and results. If I ever need PT again...this is where I will go!
Ive been working with physical therapist Carly Crompton over the past several weeks for a shoulder injury. Her work with me has resulted in marked improvements in my pain and mobility. She has been a competent professional with great etiquette. A pleasure to work with and highly recommended.
I was referred to this SPEAR location by a coworker and couldnt be happier with my experience thus far. The staff are all very nice and the environment is fun and welcoming. Jon has taken great care of me since my shoulder surgery a couple months ago... his expertise has made the recovery smooth, fast, and as painless as possible. Highly recommend SPEAR on 7th Ave!
I had a wonderful experience here. Mithun was my physical therapist, and he was supportive, patient and knowledgeable. He helped me so much and literally got me back on my feet. The entire staff was welcoming and kind. They really helped me through a stressful time. I had broken several bones, and in the beginning of my treatment, I was using a walker. Everyone there was undeterred. They encouraged me and cared about my recovery.
I had an excellent experience at SPEAR and recommend it to anyone in need of PT.I went for lower back pain, and my main therapist was Jason Ury. Jason, is very knowledgeable and quickly identified the culprit of my pain, and patiently helped me work through it. He, along with the rest of the staff are very approachable and keep a light, fun atmosphere. Finally, the front desk is extremely helpful and responsive- they quickly helped my resolve an issue with my insurance company and always kept their word.Scott
Cant recommend this place enough. Everyone is friendly and inviting, and all the patients are happily working through their exercises. Jon has helped me rehab my knee. I always feel supported and challenged, and Jons PT plan fits my goals (getting back to running ASAP). Ive been to other PT places in the city. If/when I ever need to go to PT again, Im coming back to SPEAR.
My first time doing Physical Therapy and had no idea what to expect. Doc recommended I work with Jon personally and I see why! Very knowledgable about the mechanics of the body, and what it takes to recover from injury, as well as an all around very cool guy to talk too! Would highly recommend.
Can’t say enough good things about my physical therapy experience here. I walked in wounded and came out strong and healthy. It was fun to come here and everyone was nice, friendly front desk professionals,, fantastic techs especially Ari(sp?) and awesome therapists in Jason, Luke and Don. Highly recommend this Penn Station location of Spear.
Spear Physical Therapy has really been helping me deal with my hip pain. They are patient and friendly, and have provided me with some strengthening exercises which have allowed me to return to bicycling and swimming even stronger than before. I have been working with Jon Bernfeld who is really great. I highly recommend Spear.
I came to Spear after spinal surgery not knowing what to expect. After a week it was clear that the staff was friendly and knowledgeable pertaining to my rehab therapy. The Director Don is in control, offering his level expertise to his subordinates to insure all clients receive 5 star treatment. I am confident with hard work and team guidance I will make a full recovery.
Really knowledgeable and friendly therapists and technicians. Very patient focused and highly attentive to individual needs and concerns while still delivery top level therapy and rehabilitation. Fantastic atmosphere. The most comfortable and welcoming physical therapy could hope to be. The administrative staff is also fantastic with timely reminders and ease of navigating insurance and payment. Special recognition is due to Jon B and Ari who go above and beyond as therapist and technician respectively.
KRISTIN(KP) is Amazing! Best office manager! Wish i had her when I had my home care company! Happy to help Smart, Caring , No doesnt exist she is always getting you in for an appointment. The staff is the best ever! They need to clone her and put her at Every Location! Everyone at the company is one big team! I went there couldnt move or walk and now I am doing great! Never believed in PT until i went here!Jason is the therapist to see! I walked in in terrible pain and in 3 weeks I am so much better. He takes the time to explain everything and really works with you! He doesnt just walk away like other places that do PT. So knowledgable! Would only recommend this place for PT!Lauren the Massage therapist is a MUST! Never had a massage like this where she knows where my pain was! She is more like a Doctor! This is not just your regular massage! I believe that I would not be better without her and Jason! Here hands are magical and she really understands where your pain is. She also gave great advice on care going forward! I love this place!!!!!
Had such a great experience at SPEAR! I worked with Jason who was great and super helpful. My ultimate goal was to fix the issues with my knee and to be able to complete the NYC marathon and with Jasons help I was able to do that. I was back to running in no time and my knee feels great. Everyone at SPEAR was so friendly. Highly recommend!
I had a great experience here. From the start, Jon patiently evaluated me, both physically and my personality and tailored a program that I would respond to. He is a wonderful PT and a great person as well. Not only was Jon fantastic, the entire team was professional and wonderful to work with, always helpful, courteous and a delight to be around. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The atmosphere at Spear is extremely supportive, friendly and fun, and the entire staff is very attentive to the needs and successes of everyone in the room. My therapist, Jon, set me up with an exercise program that allowed me to slowly but steadily build strength without pain. Whats more, he is also the host of Spears podcast, Embrace Your Core. Check it out!
Staff is super friendly and professional, Its clean and generally there is no wait time. I worked with Jon Bernfeld, who took time to explain the mechanics of what we were doing and why we were doing it. I can say with confidence that he has left me with the knowledge and ability needed to maintain my orthopedic health.
I cant be more grateful to Jon B and the rest of the fabulous team at SPEAR Penn Plaza while I was going through some PT! Each session I had was active and well worth it. They are absolutely terrific and the exercises and tips I learned (particularly regarding proper form and core training techniques) were not only essential in making a quick recovery but also easy to incorporate in my exercise regimen going forward.
At the risk of sounding overzealous, I must say that SPEAR Physical Therapy has really changed my life. Not only has my shoulder been freed of the pain and discomfort that plagued me for a long time, I have become stronger than I was before the injury. Each time I step foot in the office, I am greeted by smiles from each employee. I have come to consider them my friends and each session is a combination of fun and physical self-improvement. They have paved a path for me to Embrace my core as it would seem. I attend the Penn Plaza location and work with Jon Bernfeld. Each time we work together, I feel myself gaining muscle, beyond what I thought I was capable of. I cant thank him or his wonderful team enough for what they have done for me. If you arent giving SPEAR Physical Therapy a chance, you are doing yourself a disservice.
The energy at Spear is great and everyone there is super attentive, kind and caring. I love their team atmosphere with one another and appreciate that they are all willing to help you.Jon has been helping me with my post ACL and meniscectomy surgery that I had back in February. This is my second ACL surgery. The first time, I had a handful of complications during therapy and my biggest fear was that it would freeze again like last time. All of which I stressed to him and did not want to go through that again.Jon has done everything to avoid that from happening and has ensured that I get strong while getting me to full range of motion by week 6 post surgery (Which is super exciting and amazing!).He has pushed me on days that I’m struggling and being stubborn. He is strict while at the same time being understanding and compassionate.I really couldn’t ask for a better therapist to help me through this process!I have a few more months to go, and I’m really looking forward to getting to the end of this and seeing how far I’ve come with the help of Jon and the team.Thank you!
10/1/2016I recently became a client at Spear Physical Therapy, and I have had to do a lot of PT in the past due to a full right knee replacement and now an arthroscopy. So I know what to expect when going to a physical therapist, I was not expecting what I found when I walked into their office. From the moment I walked in the staff was warm and welcoming, every single person greeted me and introduced themselves to me. My therapist Donald Squire has been a true pleasure to work with. He is determined to get me where I am supposed to be. I feel extremely lucky to be working with such a great team of people on my recovery. You could not be in better hands, literally choosing Spear Physical Therapy!
SPEAR Physical Therapy Penn Plaza is the best Manhattan has to offer. The entire staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is spotless and the atmosphere one of encouragement. I travel from the Financial District to the Penn Plaza location so that I can work with David Block who specializes in the spine. He listens carefully to the patient and then devises and executes an individualized treatment plan he tailors throughout your healing process. I cannot thank him and his staff enough for helping me get back to an active lifestyle that is so important to my well-being.
A big thank you to Jon and the SPEARS team. Jon is thoughtful, considerate and patient. One of the best physical therapist Ive ever had. The facility is awesome and the entire team is friendly and eager to assist you. Just what I needed, my improvement has been incredible.
I was set up with Jon Bernthal, who’s an awesome PT. Jon was down to earth and funny, all while being professional and knowledgeable about my injury. I was taught several exercises and stretches to help minimize the pain I was in, and within just 4 visits, the pain had completely subsided. I highly recommend SPEAR as an option for physical therapy if you need it!
I cannot say enough GREAT and AMAZING things about this office; Luis in particular. Luis is a true industry expert and able to answer any health question I had even if it wasn’t related to my Injury (no exaggeration I asked 20 questions a session) I actually felt educated about what I needed to do and why, each time I left a therapy session. He was patient, understanding and so helpful. For the year + that I received therapy, Luis went above and beyond anything his job required of him, just to help me. (texting me solutions/concerns when he wasn’t even working) From day one, everyone is this office was invested, knowledgeable, supportive and generally fun to be around. It made a very painful recovery ( a broken shoulder bone) complete recovery so much easier and dare I say enjoyable?! If you need therapy of any kind for any reason you should without a doubt go to Spear Penn Plaza ....the entire staff is amazing but I’m of course partial to Luis! Happy Healing!
Been going to Spear Penn Plaza for over a year for both back/knee issues, and theyre incredible - attentive - warm and extremely personable. I most recently worked with John who helped me immensely with ways to strengthen my knee - and get it to stop aching. Hes been a HUGE help. The whole staff is amazing - keep up the good work!
I first went to SPEAR in April 2017 for sciatica. My main PT was Amarinder. She and the entire crew at this location became friends I looked forward to seeing a couple of times a week. They really care about each patient! They helped me find real, glorious relief, pushed and supported me while I built up strength again, and always made me laugh after a long day of work. When I was discharged in September, it was bittersweet. I was glad to have regained mobility and pain-free days, but I knew I would miss them. Ive only had a couple of pain days since then, but I know what to do now. thanks to everyone at SPEAR! Highly recommend this location at least! :)
I look forward to each session at Spear! The vibe is always fun and upbeat and the PTs are extremely friendly as well as knowledgeable.I was training for a half marathon and suffer from a variety of running injuries. Jon has done a great job helping me on my road to recovery as well as future injury prevention. I set a PR in the half and felt great afterwards. I highly recommend Spear!
Spear makes going to physical therapy fun and enjoyable. I followed David Block here from their FiDi location. He is very knowledgable always walking me through each exercise and its importance while remaining supportive and excited about my progress each week. I had a severe lower back injury where it was difficult to walk without pain and I was even talking about potential surgery with my doctor! There were times I was extremely discouraged but David continued to keep me motivated with treatment and doing the exercises at home. Luckily, the team at Spear was able to help me where the pain is now gone and no surgery was needed! The environment at Spear is so open and inviting thanks to the staff. I always look forward to going to my sessions and while I am glad to finish physical therapy, I will honestly miss going each week. I highly recommend them!
The whole staff is super friendly and encouraging. Everyone teams in to help. But Jon Bernfeld is the best. He has some magic juju! I have been to 3 different physical therapists over the past decade for the same issue. In 5 weeks, he has made the pain go away and the range of motion is very close to 100%. None of the other places even came close. Best and most extensive intake at a PT place ever. Just let them know whats going on and they will get you on the right track quickly. Do the work like they instruct, including the breath work, and the results will be amazing. Cant say enough good stuff about Spear and Jon!
Spear is without a doubt the best PT place i have ever been too. They are very conveniently located near Penn Station. The facility is immaculate and the staff is all very knowledgeable and professional. Don has been AMAZING with my therapy and deep massages. I cannot thank their wonderful staff enough!
Im amazed with the cura personalis this establishment give, not just to me, but to all their patients. Each member of the staff follows up on all the patients. They work as a team, always looking out for the patient, asking how theyre doing and if the exercise is going well. Also, Im very thankful for the guidance of my therapist, Jonathan. He has been reassuring in my treatment process! He thoroughly explains how certain exercise motions specifically target the muscle group that we want to work on. Its awesome having him as your therapist!
If you are in need of PT, you must go to Spear - Penn Plaza! They are incredible people and clearly care about each and every one of their patients. Even the staff working the front desk are friendly and make the effort to get to know you personally!I was assigned to Amarinder as my physical therapist and am so grateful to have worked with her! She is incredibly professional, caring, knowledgeable, focused, accommodating, and encouraging. There were days when I felt like I wasnt making progress, and Amarinder always knew what to say/do to keep me focused and working towards my recovery goals. She was genuinely interested in knowing how I was feeling and would change up my program to ensure I wasnt getting burnt out. She also knew when to push me, which is just as important and often more difficult as you never know how a patient will respond.Working with Amarinder and some of the incredible support staff like Mehul, Nas, and Ari made me actually look forward to going to PT. They all have such great attitudes and are eager to support each other, which is unique and is what makes this place extra special. Im glad to have worked through my physical ailments, but do miss seeing these people on a weekly basis.
SPEAR Physical Therapy is by far and away the best place to rehab ANY injury! Two years ago, I had surgery on my meniscus. I was back running lightly 5 weeks later and racing 8 weeks later. This year, I had multiple ailments due to running. About 8 weeks prior to the NYC Marathon, I thought I was going to have to defer to next year. I went back to SPEAR and they not only got me ready in time, but enabled me to run a strong race. Thank you in particular to Jason Ury who is awesome!!
SPEAR is the best around! I have been seeing David for my neck/upper back and he is so nice and professional and has provided me with more relief than I could have imagined. He, and the rest of the staff, are always accommodating with schedules and putting patients needs first. I have recommended him (and his office) to a few friends, all of whom have also had wonderful experiences! Everyone in the office, from the front desk, to the PT Aides, to the Therapists, are so knowledgable and really care about their patients. The space is clean and equipped with everything that you need to get better! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would.
I am eternally grateful for Jon and the entire Spear team. They welcomed me with open arms, bright smiles, and great music. Jon is unbelievably patient, thorough and knowledgable. He helped me regain strength and mobility quicker than I could have imagined. I highly recommend him if you’re ever in need of a physical therapist.
Gina Aicardi who worked with me is the best. Very caring, competent and concerned, whose sole focus and goal during our sessions was addressing my condition and getting me back to full health. I highly recommend Gina. Spear is a wonderful place where everyone is friendly and works well together to make you feel comfortable.
The Reception staff are warm and friendly. Johnathan is my Therapist, (7th ave/34th st) listens and understands your injury, takes therapy for you seriously. Very personable but professional. After 2 sessions and exercises prescribed for me, there is a major improvement in my arthritic knees.
This past summer, July 2018, I was in a bad auto accident and I was prescribed PT for my thumb and wrist. A coworker recommended Spear at Penn Plaza so I contacted them. I couldnt be happier with the care I received from Gina Aicardi and the rest of the staff. The atmosphere at Speare is incredible. All the staff members are super friendly and helpful. They joke and just make coming to the facility enjoyable, not a task. In addition to Gina being such an amazing therapist, the techs are just a pleasure. Even if they are not working with you at that moment, you will find the friendly faces of Yin, Arianna, and Henry there and eager to help, or just to check in on how you are doing. The entire team at Spear, and especially Gina, have helped me return to my normal day to day activities and I couldnt be happier.
Would definitely recommend Spear Physical Therapy Penn Plaza. Staff is really nice and everyone seems to take a real interest in your life outside of PT. Jon Bernfeld was great and customized my plan to work on my unique needs (balance, strength, etc). Very happy with my result.
I recently went to SPEAR for a medical massage with Patrick and I did not regret it. Patrick was kind, caring and responsive to my needs throughout the entire session. I went in with a lot of pain in my upper back and neck and left feeling like a new person. The entire staff at the Penn Plaza location went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I highly recommend this facility and Patrick.
I highly recommend Jon Bernfeld at Spear physical therapy:) ! I appreciate him sharing his in depth knowledge with me in great detail on the mechanics of the knee while working on me. Hes always in a delightful mood and is a good listener when it comes to me trying to explain my pains and assigns the perfect exercise to eliminate them. The place and staff make a fun atomosphere. Ive been to physical therapy in the past for a different injury and i dont remember it being fun... Lol After i started going i recommended it to my girlfriend and now she attends PT seeing Jon as well for an old back injury while lifting weights. Were happy now knowing that we will be to eliminate our pains so that we can properly work out again and get fit
I came to this location around the 5th month of my pregnancy due to severe lower back pain. Jon was assigned as my PT and was amazing at assessing me and giving me a treatment plan that adapted to my reduced mobility. His advice on simple little tweaks on my posture improved my overall pain significantly. In addition to twice weekly visits with him, he referred me to the in house massage therapist Lauren, without whom i would not have survived the pain experienced during my pregnancy. Lauren is an incredible therapist who knew exactly how and where to massage me to best alleviate the pain. With the combo of PT and massage therapy I was able to make it to the 10th month of pregnancy. Thank you both!
Jon has been a constant source of support and encouragement during my experience at SPEAR. Each visit, he listens and adapts accordingly so that I always leave feeling better than when I walked in. Plus, the whole staff keeps the atmosphere upbeat and get to know you. My situation is not straightforward and quite irritating, but SPEAR and Jon have made the process easier and actually fun!
I want thanks to Miss Emily Chug ,my fisical therapist in Spear physical therapy , Penn plaza -7th Avon my second ACL rehabilitation ,for all her effort , knowledge , care , and dedication to help others in need , for the right intensity on exercises that I need it according to progress every single day , for check and compare both knees .She is very professional , passionate , humble person .I highly recommend her .Thank you very much Emily ,Ill remember your help always .You are an asset .
What a great place to go for PT! I had the best experience here starting with my first phone call with Nekka - I could tell this would be a positive place. Jon Bernfeld was my therapist, and he helped me heal, and kept it fun while doing it. We had a great time together. Lukasz stepped-in when Jon was not available, and he, too, took great care with me while putting me through the paces. Assistants Lindsay and Abby are terrific, too. I actually looked forward to my evening appointments here! It was a sad day when I was done with PT. If I ever have another injury, I will be back!
Jason and the team are AMAZING! I broke my ankle while hiking and was non weight baring for 7 weeks. I walked into Spear in a walking boot and walked out firmly on 2 feet. Jason knew exactly what was needed to get the job done. A colleague recommended Jason to me and I have recommended him since.
I had a great experience at Spear, quite better than any other experience with PT Ive had. Jon Bernfeld is excellent and made my PT fun, as well get to the root of my symptoms. For the first time, I have hope that an ongoing issue will be solved long term, all due to the information and tools Jon shared with me. Thanks, Jon/Spear!
Jon is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I have been going to him for ~2 months for shoulder issues and he built an easy recovery plan that I can follow at home on my own. I have definitely noticed a huge difference in my mobility and pain thanks to him.
Currently seeing Jon Bernfeld for TMJD / Lock jaw pain relief and I would recommend him to anyone feeling at a loss with TMJD!!! After going to so many doctors and wanting to give up, Jon not only helps me manage my pain immensely but he has taught me so much about TMJD and my own situation. After seeing him for a few months, my TMJ specialist noticed I can open my jaw double what I previously could before seeing Jon!
I would highly recommend SPEAR to anyone in need of physical therapy. I had an amazing experience at the Penn Plaza location, John helped me with a speedy full recovery from a serious shoulder injury/surgery. The staff is fun, friendly, and energetic and the facilities are great.
Carly,You gave me a sound foundation on which to hopefully make a meaningful improvement in my mobility which has been really affected by the acute phase of my Lyme Disease. You also helped me through many of my fears about the side effects of the movements knowing my muscles have been impaired due also to numbness a related condition. thank you so very much! JR
This is my second experience at Spear. The first was for shoulder replacement and the second is for knee replacement. The first time I took an immediate liking to Don and this time many traces of the past have resurfaced. I am on an ascending trajectory toward full recovery. It is such a pleasure to discover equilibrium.
Id like to begin with the fact that the staff is the nicest, friendliest group of individuals I have ever come across in any one office. I have a torn meniscus (and some pain and swelling in my right knee) and started PT in October. Jon Bernfeld is my therapist, and within weeks he increased the movement in my knee and decreased my pain. I am so thankful!
Jon is the the best! He worked it out so my fiance and I can come in on the same days, at the same time so we can hold hands while we do squats 😉😂Just kidding!😋 On a more serious note... everyone there is amazing and fun to talk to. Theyve turned the painful process of physical therapy into something I actually look forward to and something thats actually been helping. The more I go the less pain I feel, which is something I never thought to be possible.
This place is incredible. Pick this as your go to PT. Jason helped me immensely with my hip pain. The whole crew is friendly and upbeat!!! I actually looked forward to therapy and most people cant say that. Spear is the best for all your PT needs! I was from out of state and chose based on reviews. Listen to the reviews, these guys are the best!! I will be back whenever I have more PT needs!! Thank you Jason and team :)
Spear is a great place for PT. Jon helped me out tremendously with a long time should injury. I couldn’t believe my range of motion increased so much, even after only the first session. Jon and the rest of the staff are incredibly knowledgeable, dedicated, helpful people.
Sprained my knee in skiing with partial tears in meniscus, MCL, ACL & LCL. Have been working with Sarah for one and a half month now and getting steady progress, every time I walk out there my knee feels a little better. Still have some way to go until full recovery but I would recommend this place wholeheartedly. Sarah knows what she is doing and everyone else there is super friendly and helpful.
First of all, it feels like a party, but its really serious physical therapy. Ive been there a couple of months for achilles tendinitis and Im making excellent progress, thanks to Spear. Its my 2nd attempt to get PT and the last place (not Spear) was ineffective.Ive worked w/ 3 therapists: Jason, Don, and Man. They each work differently, and they are each excellent. Ive worked w/ 3 assistants, as well: Abby, Mehul, and Ariana, and they are equally excellent.I am the 3rd family member in my family to use Spear in the last couple of years, and we have nothing but praise for their work and results.
I had a wonderful experience at Spears Physical Therapy. The en tire staff was extremely helpful and I improved greatly with their help. I had two therapist, Niveen Girgis and Luis Gracia. They were both very know a great deal and were sensitive to my problems and needs. I highly recommend Spears Physical Therapy..
Im a competitive cyclist (race every weekend, 5 days of training a week) and I suddenly started getting knee issues coming into one of my heavier weeks. Spear (and specifically Niveen) were absolutely amazing. She was able to quickly diagnose what COULD be going on, listened through my other training regiment, and worked with me for the next month to ensure Id be set up for success.Sticking with her a few times a week and the super-easy exercises at home, Im back to 100%. More importantly, I was ready to go for the full week of racing Id been preparing for. I cant recommend Spear as a facility and Niveen Girgis as a physical therapist enough!
I worked with Jon Bernfeld for ~6 months, and I truly appreciate the time and effort he spent helping me fix my back and knee. Every time I visited the office, Jon went out of his way make sure that I was being challenged and that I was improving. It was an absolute pleasure working with him and everyone at the Penn Plaza location.
I went for an appointment a few months back with therapist David. He listened to my problem areas and taught me tricks to help my pain at home so that I wouldnt have to rely on therapy. In one session my pain was improved! The setting was professional, the office was clean and efficient! I would definitely go back and definitely suggest it to others!
I came to Luis Gracia at Spear when my hip pain became debilitating during my pregnancy and I couldn’t be more thankful that I did. The program got me back on my feet, and the entire staff are warm and welcoming. My experience at Spear allowed me to continue working through my pregnancy, and to enjoy it also.
Amarinder was my therapist at SPEAR. She made me feel comfortable since our first meeting. She is kind, patient, very understanding and actually listens when you are explaining where you are feeling pain. The entire staff is very attentive and friendly. Everyone goes out of their way to ensure you are comfortable. I would definitely recommend Amarinder and SPEAR. Thank you Amarinder for a speedy recovery.
Had a wonderful experience here. Worked with Jonathan who is great! Super professional, smart and very engaging — made spending 2 hours a week here.. enjoyable! All of the staff is friendly and helpful, too. Would recommend to anyone. If you are able, try to snag a lunch-time appointment as it can get a bit busy at nighttime.
Amarinder is great! She has been helping me rehab my left ankle and foot and has been attentive to subtle changes or improvements. Administratively, SPEAR seamlessly takes care of everything with the insurance company and transparently communicates costs to you. Feel at peace with your treatment as well as with costs.
Great staff and convenient location!!I visited the one near Penn Station. My therapist was Amarinder and she knows what she is doing. She is so friendly and even after I stopped going, she is checking in with me. Thankfully, I got fully recovered.Just make sure that your insurance covers your visits.
I highly recommend Spear. I also highly recommend my PT, Jon Bernfeld. He’s great in many ways: very effective, knowledgeable, and friendly. He’s also insisting on education so you understand reasons why you got your problem and why each exercise is needed. The rest of the office (other PTs, assistants, receptionist) are all very friendly and willing to help anytime.
Came in with an mcl sprain and labral tear, and came out feeling even stronger than before! Jon, Mo and the rest of the team did a great job helping me get back to full activity, and at the unfortunate chance I get injured again, I’ll know who to go to with confidence
I never take the time to write these unless Im a disgruntled customer but Jason Ury deserves recognition for being a wonderful therapist. Jason and the staff at SPEAR are friendly, knowledgeable and extremely dedicated to helping their patients. If you need PT, I would highly recommend this group!
My shoulder has been damaged for 8 months and Ive finally found a place that knows how to fix it. SPEAR PT therapist Lukasz Mroz has achieved remarkable results in a months time. He is knowledgeable professional and attentive. He shares his knowledge freely. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and always willing to assist. I want to get my wife an appointment as soon as I can I would enthusiastically recommend this location and especially Lukasz
You might actually forget your particular injury because the focus here is to enjoy figuring out and mananging the problem. Jon was remarkably on point regarding what was needed and clear about how to move forward. He is a skilled and able therapist who inspires your participation. The staff is lovely and the facility is lively and clean.
I had a great time at SPEAR. Especially working with Jon and Yin. I had been worried a lot about my recovery because I was behind schedule a lot before I switched to SPEAR. The atmosphere at SPEAR was very encouraging and I could see visible results as I improved. It is a great place to be.
Can not recommend the the team here enough. This is the third round of PT that I’ve done for the same chronic injury, and I finally feel some lasting relief and like I have a better understanding about how to avoid flare ups in the future. Jon and the team challenged me while also providing a warm and welcoming environment to ask questions, and a space to explore how my body functions best. Thank you all!
I have had two VERY negative experience with SPEAR Physical Therapy. The first experience was with you midtown location. I booked an appointment a two WHOLE weeks in advance and reminded the person booking that they would need to secure a referral from my doctor in order for my insurance to go through. They called me DAY OF my appointment to cancel on me because they did not have a referral. THEY HAD TWO WHOLE WEEKS to get one and I specifically asked that they do so sooner than later so that this did not happen.A few months later...My second TERRIBLE experience was with your Tribeca location. I called again two weeks in advance in order to be sure my insurance was still accepted and to remind them that I needed a referral so to please make sure to get the process moving quickly so that I did not get canceled on again. This time was even worse. Not only did I get a call the day before letting me know they did not get a referral but they also did not even take my insurance! That would have been good to know two week earlier!!!! So now it has been two weeks with no physical therapy because I had to wait to get an appointment and itll be another two weeks before I can get in with anyone doctor elsewhere. This company is outrageous. Their staff is slow and ineffective. They also let me know that not all SPEAR PTs accept the same insurance even though they are the same umbrella company.I am very unhappy. I would not recommend. Go see a doctor elsewhere.
This is the best therapy practice I have been to (comparing here to HSS, HYU, Weill Cornell..). Everyone is attentive helpful and the whole atmosphere is cheerful. I found the most dedicated therapist in Jason Ury. His cheerful demeanor, his ability to connect and empathize with patients exacerbates the magic in his fingers to relieve pain. A couple of therapists told me that there wasnt much they could do with my lower back pain. Jason took it on with a positive outlook, worked really hard and succeeded in giving me the relief I was looking for. Also, recommended some excellent doctors along the way. Cant recommend him enough.
David Block is the best physical therpaist I have ever had the pleasure of being treated by. His combination of impressive knowledge, ability to quickly identify and treat a problem, and his excellent bedside manner make him an exceptionally skilled PT. He took me from substantial shoulder pain to nearly no pain in very little time. I highly recommend him and SPEARs services.
From the day I called Spear to every appointment I go to I’ve had nothing but kindness from everyone. Everyone is so helpful and it’s such a great atmosphere. Mehule and Aaron are so sweet and helpful. Luis is awesome as well. He always makes sure I’m ok and he is awesome at recognizing my painful points and working through them. I absolutely 100 percent recommend Spear!!
Cristina and the entire staff have given me my life back . I have had severe back pain for the last few years and walking was an issue, being that I walked as little as possible which stopped me from doing a lot of things with my family/ I know I did the exercises, but without Cristina’s expertise and her great hands, and the staff backing me up, being so supportive, and with their joking(to get me to do the exercises “3 sets of 10”) and caring, there is no way I would have accomplished this feat. I am so thankful to all of them, being with Spear has truly changed my life back to where I can enjoy it again and not have to worry so much, asking “how much pain am I going to be in if I go there or do this?”, or even just saying “no” to going someplace or doing something because my back was going to hurt more than I was willing to deal with. I know I still have work ahead of me, but where I am at this moment is so much better than where I was, I almost feel like the old me who used to enjoy walking around, shopping, seeing things without the pain.I would recommend Spear Penn Plaza to anyone who needs PTLinda G
I met with John and he took his time to asses what might be happening and started a course of treatment. he explained every exercise and urged me to to them on my own at home in less than a week I felt 50% better after a month i think im all better tho he suggest i keep up the routine for another 2 months. he really Knows the body and has a lot of patience.
Okay-- no better or worse. I cannot believe the raves this place is getting. They are overpriced (I had to meet my deductible so ended up paying 100% of the sessions and it was $190 just to walk in the door--for one hour--20 mins of which is either heat or ice application...) and very aggressive in self-promotion; you are still on the table when they shove a computer in your face to fill out a survey. They do this on the first day because of course they are fawning all over you at your first session. By the next session your PT is on the computer not even watching you as you go through the exercises that you can and do do at home. A lot of the cheerfulness flew out of the picture too. The exercises seem generic--i saw the same exercises being done by all age groups and apparently by people suffering different injuries...hmmm...There seems to be little care for the holistic approach; if you are there for you foot, they dont care if they knock your knee out of alignment from doing some uber-aggressive repeats. Plus they dont seem to have any knowledge of people who actually were athletes or dancers (the staff is woefully out of shape). And there is zero privacy or harmony there. You have to hear and see everyone else and bear the sound of balls bouncing and people jumping and complaining. Seriously!?In general, if my Dr ever wants me to do PT again i will request a diff place. Too much of a factory for me here.
The spear physical therapy team at Penn Plaza has done an amazing job supporting my speedy recovery. In particular I want to thank Amarinder for her massive support and always pushing me to work harder. Thanks to her I was quickly able to return to an active lifestyle and will be ready to hit the slopes this season!!!
PEAR Physical Therapy Penn Plaza staff is the best. They are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I didnt mind to cross Manhattan to go to the Penn Plaza location. Amarinder Parmar my PT was amazing, I cannot thank her and the staff enough for helping me to return to do what I love without pain.
Modern, well kept facility. Everyone on the staff is incredibly helpful. Not only is the physical therapy thorough, but they also do a great job teaching you about your injury and how you can change your day to day habbits to prevent it.Shoutout to Jon for all his hardwork in helping me recover!
I graduated from SPEAR physical therapy today, which means my TMJ-related jaw pain and stunted range of motion are much improved! Thanks, Jason Ury! But the exclamation points mask my sadness at leaving the welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, hilarious group at SPEAR. I never thought physical therapy would improve my jaw, and I certainly never thought it would be fun. But it did, and it was. I would highly recommend SPEAR to anyone needing physical therapy, or even just comedic relief. They will even play Ace of Base during your visit if you ask.
David and his team are committed and passionate about people getting stronger and better. They are just fantastic and I actually looked forward to PT with them. They gently pushed me to my limits and the improvement was significant. They were really looking out for me. I would highly recommend them.
EVERYONE HERE IS AMAZING! Yes, all caps intentional and warranted. I had the luck of working with Jason and the joy of being around Don and all the other staff. All of them are patient, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. This place has all the good vibes you could hope for in a healing environment. Many thanks to the team there.
Easily the best PT office I have ever visited. Super attentive therapists ACTUALLY care about your progress instead of making you feel like theyre just trying to get you out the door to clear the waiting room. Very clean and friendly environment! Wouldnt dream of going anywhere else for PT.
The time went too fast and I wish I could have stayed in the incredible atmosphere at Penn Station Spear. They were always smiling and talking positively to me all the time. I regained some strength through some modalities and Don gave me some useful tips to do at home.
To start, the staff at this location are all super friendly and very funny. It makes the overall environment very relaxed and comfortable. Secondly, they are very skilled and do a great job with educating you on your issue and how they can make it better. I feel great and highly recommend going here, it was recommended to me. It only took one visit to feel a difference and in 6 I feel amazing.
I was prepared to get the first PT evaluation with Donald and then continue the future sessions at a location closer to my residence… But the care and consideration and improvements I have attained right from the beginning have kept me staying the course with this outstanding PT service.

2022-07-18I have been going to Spear Physical Therapy at Penn Plaza for almost 2 months now, seeing Yoshiya Chiba (Josh) for cervical radiculopathy /pinched nerves from my neck that radiate outwards. I could not more enthusiastically recommend Spear and Josh. I shared early on with Josh that I have severe Hypochondria/Health Anxiety and since then Josh has taken special time to explain to me/walk me through each movement we practice/sensation I have felt to help ease my brain. I was particularly moved (after sharing that I have an issue with googling my medical ailments) when Josh offered that anytime I have a question about my injury, that I email him instead of taking to Google which can be quite alarmist. I have noticed significant improvements in my pain levels and a shift in my quality of life/mental + physical health since working with Josh and I appreciate the holistic approach he takes to my pain, understanding that it is deeper than just what my diagnosis says. His hands-on work is remarkable, he intuitively can follow where my pain is, even so far as knowing if it is causing me headaches even if I dont tell him, and adapting the hands-on section to help treat those as well. His kind demeanor, expertise and professionalism has instilled me with hope that my body will continue to recover, after a particularly dark few months.Spear in general is an incredibly clean and light environment, little details like having the TV on in the corner, fun music playing, spirit days amongst the PTs and techs, etc. has made a huge difference and I find I enjoy going to PT. I wish I could list out all of the techs (I believe thats their title?) and front desk staff, but they all make a special effort to learn your name/treatment plan and say hi to you with a smile when you walk in the door and their positivity can help ease my mind even on very pain-filled days.

2022-02-26I worked with Jon Bernfeld at the Penn Plaza location for my TMJ and related neck and back pain. I have had a lot of experience with physical therapy in my life, and he was hands down the best PT I have ever worked with. His approach is truly tailored to each patients needs, each time you visit, instead of taking a check the box approach that you often get at PT. I was in a really bad state with my jaw when I first came to him and I could not believe the progress I made - he honestly improved the quality of my life. He was also in frequent contact with my oral surgeon, who performed my Arthrocentesis, as well as my TMJ specialist, updating them on my progress and keeping everyone in the loop. If you have TMJ do not look any further, Jon is your guy. He is an expert in the field and his manual techniques work wonders. Not only did he help me with what I came for, but I laughed every single day I was there. He is so positive and motivating and all of the staff that work there are warm, welcoming, and become like family.

2022-06-05I would gladly provide Spear Physical Therapy at the 7th Avenue location with 10 stars if Google allowed me to but I will just have to explain why instead. It is a well organized PT practice and they honor your appointment times and I have never had to wait. They are professional and respectful throughout your treatment before, during and after. They are attentive and they listen. Beginning with Clinical Director Jonathan Bernfeld who evaluated and developed my treatment plan, he provided hope that recovery is very possible. I first began with Chaitali (Chai) Ajudiya who provided a thorough combination of exercises and her hands on manual treatment was precise and I began to feel such improvement. When Chai moved to another location she introduced me to Yoshida (Josh) Chiba whom I would be working with. He also has been exceptional and precise in his technique and approach. Josh is knowledgeable, focused, targeted and has incredible strength which is exactly what I need. The recovery continues.

2022-02-15I came to Spear a few months ago with a nagging knee tendinitis issue. After this period of time working with Jon, my knee has not felt better since I was in HS. It is not only a great place to get right but a great environment to do it in.

2022-02-27Jonathan and the others were exceptionally helpful and professional and knowledgeable. I have been to other physical therapy places several times in the last 25 years, and they are by far the best.

2021-06-16Love my Physical Therapist Emily! She is very personable and makes you feel comfortable going through physical therapy. She is very open to answering questions with information that really helps you understand your type of injury and puts you at ease. No one ever says when I grow up I want to go to physical therapy but Emily definitely makes it much easier to deal with. Thank you Emily!!!

2021-01-28Spear Physical Therapy is OUTSTANDING. The staff is professional and courteous. The initial presentation when you walk in is modern and refreshing.Honestly, my past experience with a couple of physical therapy centers were not so appealing. But despite the ongoing Pandemic, Spear really came through for me. I looked forward to every session.Five stars to my physical therapist, Emily Chug. She really went above and beyond on my road to recovery.Forget the rest and go with the best. :)

2021-03-29I was visiting Spear PT for about 3 months for back pain. I worked with Jon, who helped me in identifying what was causing the pain. He came out up with a routine of mobility exercises and stretches that helped in reducing the pain by a significant amount. The staff was friendly, and the space was kept clean. Overall, I was very happy with my therapy here.
