Squires Diner in New York
First time in NY, but last time to ever eat here. The waiters were rude when we walked in. We waited over 15 minutes before getting ask for drinks. One waiter came and threw our water then drinks down. When we asked about a dish the guy literally stop taking our order and went to the nearby table to answer questions and get them coffee. We stayed due to being hungry and had limited time before our flight and seeing Ground Zero. Finally ordered and after some time got our food. I notice extra items not on the menu. Asked for the manager three times and literally had to run down stairs to puke. But one bathroom had three girls and one toilet.. Dont ask. The second was locked. The room across that holds the food was open and it made the food come back up worst. Other than bugs in the food the place holding some of the food was not clean. The place need to be updated and inspected. The waiters attitude changed after we confronted and showed the bug. 7May17. Other people saw the bug and left. The manager tried to his the plate and hush us out. Please be careful when eating here.
I live outside of the US most of the year but whenever I come back to visit family and friends I always drop by Squires for there Lumberjack breakfast set.Their food is good, the restaurant is clean and most importantly servers are very nice and provide great service. And menu prices are quite reasonable too.
Squires Diner has been our FAVORITE place to eat for YEARS, now. Friendliest staff, amazing prices, fast accurate service and, accommodating for most any request, large or small!! They deserve tons of credit! I think Squires Diner is one of the most underrated restaurants in ALL of downtown Manhattan, NY!
What a great diner I stumbled upon while trying to find something to eat around the seaport after failed attempt to see an exhibit. The extensive menu has something for everyone. And the prices are super reasonable (especially for the city). GREAT, QUICK SERVICE & GREAT FOOD!
The Food is good, I can assure you the Spanish guy will be hostile if you are black and unfamiliar. I have been ordering and eating there since 2016. The grub is good, I like the satisfaction of their burgers. ( Just have a bland face with no emotions and ask for a different server😭)
Ive always liked this place. I always feel I could be anywhere in the U.S. when I dine here; it has that all American feel to it. The chicken pot pie is really good....one of my favorite entrees. Ive had the pastrami/corned beef sandwich numerous times...could never go wrong with it. The matzo ball soup is really good to. Service is good. Both food and service are consistent.
If youre looking for a classic New York diner near the Seaport, then your search is over. The menu is standard, the quality of the food is average, the prices are not too high, and the service is impeccable and friendly. The clientele draws largely from the neighborhood, as one would expect. The food is not good enough to warrant a long journey, but if you happen to be nearby and in need of a speedy meal, Squires fits the bill.
Really good, friendly service. Reasonable prices and good, standard diner selection. The meat on my French dip was a little dry for my liking. Nice selection of deserts, wish my lunch portion haf been smaller so I wouldve still had room for some! Gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming, even somewhat a jokester.
This is one of my favorite local lunch spots. Prices are decent (I am sure we can thank the seniors who frequent this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for that). The place is clean. Service is always courtesy and expeditious. Food is tasty and the portions are generous for the price. Ive even seen staff for other local establishment eating here. Give them a try for yourself.
Fast and attentive service. Many food options but the food itself didnt have much flavor. I had the brunch special: french toast with 2 eggs and turkey sausage and my partner had the sausage/mushroom/spinach/cheese omelette and a side of french toast. The French toast had minimal flavor which was surprising; had to lather it with syrup to enjoy it. The eggs were plain. The turkey sausage was the only good thing on my plate. My boyfriend said his omelette was surprisingly flavorless as well. The coffee & OJ were good. And again the service was fast. But wouldnt recommend the food or at least the breakfast food. I didnt have lunch / dinner there.
Nice, quiet location in downtown Manhattan where life can be very hectic and yet this place is a hidden escape. service is kind and friendly with accommodating staff. food was on the table within 12min. prices are acceptable for a Manhattan diner. highly recommended if you are in the area👍🏼
Place was filthy. The waiter took 20 minutes to bring our drinks. The place wasnt even crowded. Waiter disappeared for our entire meal. Never checked on us but managed to check on the Caucasian people that were seated behind us. I and my friends werent even halfway through our meal when the waiter just abruptly put the bill on our table. Very F-ing rude... He never even came to collect the payment(cash). We just left the money on the table and left. No tip was given because no good customer service was provided. Food was trash by the way. My fish was stale...
This is a really old-looking diner and I am sure it is old. Even the patrons here are pretty old. I do like the retro look in there though and the booths are just fun to sit in.I ordered their Pancake Deluxe, which contains pancakes, eggs and meat option (bacon, sausage or ham). It is a mere $7 for all these food. Honestly, it was just OK. The pancake was not as fluffy as I would like and it lacks flavor. The sausage is not bad and the scrambled eggs are really plain too.Overall, this is an average diner to me but if you are craving for diner food (pancake, waffles, etc.) and you are in the area, this is a decent place to go without fighting over table.
My favorite place in the Financial District. It feels like most restaurants down there are filled with tourists or bankers, but this one is filled with normal people who actually live nearby. I recommend sticking to their breakfast food, though. Definitely their strong suit.
Pretty mediocre run of the mill diner out of place in fidi. Hollandaise was a fail consistency And made the mistake of ordering my eggs over easy which were put on top of my French toast. I knew there would be no way to keep the egg yolk from ruining it, and carefully as I tried to move it they broke all over the French toast. Also the French toast was not really challah. Server grabbed glasses by the mouths to give to us which is gross and unsanitary. On the plus side they all wear funny vests that makes them look 70s formal
So happy that an old school diner like this still exists to serve old standards at reasonable prices. The challah french toast rocks. Refillable coffee. Generous portions, unassuming, and a family vibe in which waiters will greet you with a familiar coffee, Boss? Before youve sat down. No better way to start the day, or to bring a journal to collect your thoughts.
The place smells like a dirty bird cage. My eggs florentine was served with slimy, rotten-looking canned spinach. It was disgusting. The potatoes were flavorless. The BLT was served dry; no mayo or dressing of any kind. It tasted like nothing, and was served with soggy pickles. The coffee is weak and tastes terrible. This is quite possibly the worst food in all of FiDi.
In Squires I enjoyed my Coffee with toasted warm Bagle with cream cheese and Jelly and lunch, Dinner at times. I enjoy the Welcome, and Friendly place.Very Clean and l was served with a Smile, and Respect.Great workers. love the Strawberry short Cake.I work around the neighborhood as a Home Health Aide before. They deliver fast.My boss recommend me Squires, and his Friends. The environment feels peaceful, and like you around Family. Thank -You Squares and your hard workers.Ms Pineiro
This establishment is a rare gem to find nowadays. Its authentic NY charm, from a different era, can still be found there. Its regular clientele are youthful Seniors and people who work in the area. One hears in the background words pronounced Kawfee, you kiddin me, or youre pullin my leg. And the waiters are polite and efficient, not very talkative, but easy on the eyes. Hopefully, Squire Diner, will continue to be around. I say this because with the NY construction boom and gentrification our rare gems may go extinct. In the meantime stop by the Squires Diner for a chocolate egg cream soda and a pastrami on rye with a schmear of golden brown mustard. Tell them Bori highly recommended it.

2022-01-15I had the bozy brunch and it was great. Not my favorite choice in the chicken style, but none the less still delicious. There was really good flavor to the waffles! I also enjoyed a mimosa. Nice mom and pop diner worth the visit.

2022-06-06One of our favorite breakfast addresses during our one week stay end of may. Its actually a typical diner but luckily a bit hidden in the second row from a main street.Apparently also well known from a lot workers and local people who either collect their food or eating there as well.We tried different breakfasts and all of them were delicious and the portion more than sufficient. The staff is very friendly and the location is also nice and clean (although its not ultramodern, which we dont care). We will come again during our next NY-trip.

Great people who make you feel special, food is served very quickly and the taste is amazing. I was in a hurry and it was busy, but still I received great service and very yummy food!It is tricky to ser from the street but it is right behind the Market on Cliff St.

2022-04-02Small diner in the financial district. The food was amazingly good and cheap. We went at brunch time, 4 people and only pay about 40$ total. The waiter was very helpful, and the food service was very fast.I will go again my next time in NYC.

2022-04-11The food and service was great. It was super convenient. But the hot chocolate was way too sweet and the cream for the coffee was moldy. I can still taste the bitterness.
