Nice park for the little ones good open space not bad.
Its suitable for baby, toddler, children to enjoy. Green carpet area near the playground has Empire state building views and is also somewhere you can settle for some time with your family.
NYC Parks Dept. workers ALL deserve lunch and a break, after seeing almost 4 yrs. of visiting; and in those yrs., from pruning, planting, bench seat changing with 5/8 thicker boards, as well, as lawn moving and routine cleaning and maintenance...on and on...even, turf laying....thanks...ms. marion.🙂🙃
This is a nice park with play space for small children. There are paved areas for older children and adults to play ball. There are trees and bushes that make it shaded and comfortable and the area is cleaned and maintained. It has a bathroom.
Nice open space and very family friendly. Moreover, its a great space for exercising with basketball and tennis courts, plus great open turf space.
Nice playground for young kids. No public green space. Fountain has some hazards when wet, so prepare kiddos accordingly after your own evaluation. Due for a revamp soon, but a lot of controversy of what will be done.
Very clean and good playground. It is full of people most of the time so you may wait the young kids before you start playing your game but still am sure that they will even invite you to play with them. I am going there usually and there are no crazy people around in the area.
Quite a concrete park, and the toilets were closed, despite it being daytime Sunday. But there were facilities for games and play and a fair few picnic tables, and was generally pleasant.
Amazing city park for enjoying some momentum with close done. Watching sunset sitting in east river bank. NYC subway and ferry ride available. The park has very new some features for children. My kids always like to go there.
A very peaceful place.
Looks nice during the day. During the night, on the North and South side of the park are bushes which make squeaking sounds and the leaves rustle. I have seen rats running around there. Strange to see parents take their little kids there during the day
Great park for kids. Kids enjoyed the climbing, slides and swings.
Its big. Kids can run round. It has lots of benches to sit on. It has sprinkler, big field kinda thing to play sports, tire swings, regular swings.
Nice park next to busy highway
I really like this park. It is spacious, perfect for kids to play on with playground and some shady areas. The bathroom is available but needs a little bit of maintenance. Overall, this is a great place for a family outing.
Stumbled upon this park today coming from another park on 41st and 1st ave.coaching my sons team for practice, this seems like an amazing park.
Nice park for children, but it concerns me that there are so many open entrances that children and wonder off too, leading to the street or to a different section of the park. Just stay on top of your child and youll be fine, and know it gets super packed when the weather is nice.
I rolled a joint there,I was snuck upon by cop.The cop thought stolen goods.Shocked, that he saw me rolling a joint there. That I said, this is all I was doing. He said carry on,and walked away.
Nice city park with Basketball, handball, etc. I played handball there and the courts are fine. The lines are all drawn and its reasonably maintained and clean. The only downside is the traffic right next to the handball court, but again I didnt mind that because it reminds me Im in the heart of NYC.
Currently one side of this park is under construction they are laying down a beautifully green lush carpet its quite a nice look now
Nice playground with a large artificial turf field right next door.
Easy to see right off of 35th Street and 1st Avenue. Great for Sports like basketball. Outdoor seating. Great for families. Public Restrooms. Moderately clean facilities. Close to other stores and restaurants. We will most likely be going back.
This is our local park, right across from our building. We love coming here and the community of young families like us. The sprinklers in the summer are great and the playground is the right size for our 4 year old and 1 year old
This park has helped us raise our two boys. Very spacious park with an attached concrete ground . Lots of physical activities in the park where over active kids can try out their gymnastics skills on monkey bars , swings , slides , hanging bars etc. The ground can be used for biking, baseball, soccer , skating or jogging walking.
Lovely park to take my son after school. He loves to spend half an hour everyday. However I have noticed that some people bring their dogs and doesnt keep them on leash. Children play soccer in the field and our ball got chewed up bad and the same thing happened to another kid. The owner doesnt listen. Who do I complain to?
Great place to come with friends! They have picnic tables and sets of swings! They also keep this place very clean! Would certainly recommend! :)
A lovely playground and park in a neighborhood that doesnt boast extensive green space.

This park is great for sitting under tall trees. There is also a large area with concrete floor used for baseball or for doing Tai Chi.

Small and compact. This is a lovely park with a few swings for infants and lots of space for kids all ages. Clean facilities and nice trees!
Nice park. Lots to do for a variety of ages. Looked like a couple day camps bring kids there so it was busy.

St. Vartan Park is a little park on 1st Avenue and East 35th Street near the Midtown Tunnel to Queens from ManhattanI do not play much sports like tennis and basketball, which Vartan Park is mainly for.The close proximity to the Mudtown Tunnel is also a major turn off for me. Tons of traffic means tons of unhealthy environment issues.It is the urban concrete park that I do not recommend for the young, ths elderly or the folks with respiratory issues.
Great place to bring children,( toddlers in the morning
Great park. There is a big empty asphalt field there.Could have been nice with basketball field and/or grass.
Pretty park but dirty. The lake had 2 plastic bags filled.

Decided to walk through the park today. Saw a dead rat! It was close to the swings! Told a park worker. I was so grossed out.
No bathroom open for days Desperate .No other major city lacks toilets like New York.Shame on you.

2022-06-07I am really nitpicking by not giving this park five stars. I go here often. I throw a football or a frisbee with a friend or one of my parents here every now and then. The turf is not really grass and used to be cement. I have mixed feelings about this, as I grew up with it being cement and I would scooter on it. I know people who miss it because they cannot really rollerblade and/or rollerskate there anymore on the open field. The turf is still really nice though! The playground is nice and has a rather large jungle-gym, which I can attest to from previous experiences when I played on it when I was younger. There are also sprinklers that turn on in the summer and can cool you off. There are also swings, tire swings and this other contraption that you sit and spin around in. The basketball courts are pretty good, but get crowded often. Also, the floor on the court is the slightest uneven, but no biggie. You can also practice your tennis skills on the adjacent court area where there are walls to hit the tennis ball at. The bathrooms are not ideal, but they get the job done. They usually get locked around sundown. This park is not perfect or essentially perfect, but I love it a lot and I think 4/5 is a good representation of this park. Get out and enjoy!P.S: They have a composting station by the playground area that is open on Saturdays.

2019-03-24Awesome park for kids: plenty of space and good climbing frames, swing sets, and slides. There are also plenty of benches for parents, a large open area for ball games or scooting. Not to mention the impressive view of the Empire State Building.

2019-04-25Cool park. Was visiting family and took the kids out for a break on a nice afternoon. No bathroom but the equipment was in good shape, nice families, felt safe.

2021-08-29The wall is for playing handball Ive heard but its great for tennis practice as well and the full court (basketball) right next to it has two hoops and theres even a third smaller court and hoop on the side. Directly across the street there is another park with a big grassy area as well although Ive never been there myself. Its a great place! 👍
