Staples in other cities:
I rarely write reviews but this was the most pleasant Staples (or any printing/copy company) experience Ive ever had. Johan was polite and patient - and while my task there was simple, he made the errand a nice experience! It was a very clean and organized location overall as well.
If it weren’t for Joel, I don’t know what I would’ve done with myself.Joel has given me without a doubt the greatest customer experience one could possibly ever ask for. Because of him, I was able to walk out of Staples with everything I needed to make my daughters graduation gift special. You wouldn’t be able to tell just by looking at him, but he’s one of the most well spoken employees I have ever interacted with.Funny, charming and witty, he encompasses everything that a store should be looking for when it comes to leadership. During trying times like this, any positive interaction is something worth cherishing.I would like to thank the staff manager who hired Joel, as they did an incredible job with scouting this guy out.
They have pretty much everything you could ever need (or not really) for your office, whether at work or at home. Theyre also super friendly and knowledgeable about whats where in the store and accommodating of teachers using their schools tax-free status. My only complaint is that they have an entire half of an aisle dedicated to iPhone cases...and not a single Android case in sight...??
The customer service in the lower level of this location is quite poor. Many of the women who are in their late teens, and earlier twenties display a poor professional attitude. The District Manager should correct this poor professional attitude. The men in the Copy Center displayed a more professional attitude. The man and woman of the Tech Support level displayed an excellent desire to be efficient in their communication skills and customer service. The Tech Support level has displayed an excellent professional attitude the multiple times Ive visited this location. Theres a reasonable selection of School, Computer, and Office supplies at this location.
My rating is specifically for the package drop off service. It took quite some time for someone to ask if I needed anything. My package was taped up, but apparently not taped up enough. I was then forced to buy tape due to their weirdly strict packaging rules. The entire time, the person helping me was pretty rude and a little angry. However they did get the job done and sent my very taped up package to its destination and they let me use the bathroom, which was clean. If you dont mind sassy employees during your errand running, come here, but expect to be tape shamed.
I have nothing but the best things to say about the professional demeanor and work ethic of the associates in the shipping and printing sections on the main floor. 5 stars for them! Theyre understaffed, however, and I didnt think it would take over an hour to get simple shipping and printing tasks completed.
Just arriving from Georgia I needed a collage of pictures for my aunts obituary, I called Staples on 2248 Broadway, Pastora told me how to get them to her. As a 65 year old it was challenging but I emailed pdf file. On arrival Mr. Harry was helpful in what he could do and could not do, he sent me to Katie. Katie & Pastora were awesome in getting my pictures aligned, clear and printed. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I have come to this location twice for print & laminating services and both times have been outstanding in terms of quality of service. Juanita did a fantastic job laminating two sets of field guides I made and provided service with a personalized touch. Highly recommend!
Overall an ok place, but I tried to ship something from here, had it all packaged and ready to go, but the woman behind the counter said that it needed to be taped with brown or clear tape instead (I used black), and that I could buy a roll if needed. I left and went to FedEx up the street and sent my package with no problem. I felt that this was a ploy to sell supplies.
We love this staples I frequent this location once a week and every time the staff become more and more professional.Today the sales associate was patient with me even though I was inconsistent and kept asking her to reprint.I would recommend this location to all. I have yet to visit any staples that was unsatisfactory.
Save snacking for your break time.Handling peoples purchases and cash while youre grazing on snacks is disgusting and disrespectful to your customers. Why did you think this was a good idea?Work isnt your living room. Demonstrate some basic social skills and work ethic please.
Nobody should come to this store. Two of the products I chose were not available and I waited 15m for someone to get a monitor without success. Walked out of the store without it. They could not even give me an estimate of how long it would take. Unbelievable. Just try to buy it in Amazon if you have a chance.
Recently, I was impressed at the quality of the service I received on the 2nd floor at this location. The rep at the checkout made sure I ordered the right toner combination to qualify for the discount I was looking for. She kept the line moving fairly quickly too. I always check the Staples flyer that comes with my Sunday paper to see what the specials are.
Their elevator has been out of service for weeks. Makes it so difficult for mothers with strollers and people in wheelchairs to shop there. You would think that the store personal would try and assist people who can not get down/up stairs to get their items - but no they are rude and lazy.
The store is fine but they have the worst customer service. Their shipping department is the worst - dont even try to get a package shipped, it just doesnt happen unless you already have it labeled and are just dropping off. This store has always been my first stop for office supplies and the like but the service has gone downhill and I do not plan on shopping there ever again, which is too bad.
More on site printing hardware but the self serve stations seem to be on the blink a lot. Hate to pay for computer time to print when they have the means to print from USB or cloud service. Good place to score urgent computer hardware and ink. Stairs can be a hassle. Nice staff overall.
While the printing services are passable, there is no support for efficiently printing batches of files. As a musician who frequently needs to print out many files quickly between jobs, this is frustrating. Support is unhelpful and typically understaffed. Wont be returning unless I absolutely must.

This is by far the worst Staples store I have ever called or been in. On three separate occasions I called for information, was placed on hold for over 20 minutes the finally spoke to someone who I asked about a product was placed on hold again while the supposedly were getting the answer and was then disconnected after another 20 minute hold. This entire sequence happened on 3 separate days. On 2 occasions when I did finally get information over the phone I made the 30 minute trip to the store only to find out the information was wrong. Don’t waste your time or energy shopping at this store. Go to another.
Horrible customer service experience. They hide their featured sale Items in a back room so that customers would not be able to see them. Furthermore, they refuse to price match their own online prices, in direct violation of the chains price matching policy. Avoid this terrible location.
Had problems with installing an all in one printer with conflicting error messages. Brought it back and Ariyana diagnosed and solved the problem immediately. She has great knowledge of the Staples printers stock. Shes a keeper - a real credit to the 81st and Broadway Staples..
People on the first floor had no problem. The problem is the people working on the lower level. If you ask them for a help, you will likely to hear ‘I don’t know where it is’ immediately. The cashier seemed annoyed. Didn’t hear any hi, bye nor thank you even though I said it first.
This is by far the worst Staples store I have ever called or been in. I wish it was possible to rate a location with 0 stars. Dont trust what the associates tell you by phone. Also, dont order any items for pick up using same day service because chances are it wont be ready.
These people NEVER answer the phone. The system puts you on hold and interrupts the music every X seconds to tell you theyll be right with you.Its beyond infuriating. I really, really want to swear but will restrain myself.Just be warned: your time is valueless to them. They are apparently hoping you will give up and leave them alone.
The guy just didnt know how to print portfolio!! saying that i shoudl costimize my size to fit letter paper os ridiculous cuz you have to be able to print any size. especially if its smaller then letter size and just cut it!! How people get job in printing companies if they dont know anything about printing!! he didnt even know to put actual size in stead of fit size...
This store is huge has 3 floors worth of merchandise and 1 floor for Print and Marketing services it also has a elevator so you dont get tired going floor to floor the staff Is incredibly nice and polite you could get lost and confused at 1st but once you realize that things are separated by floor you will never get lost again.
Wi-Fi is horrendous. While they have a nice street level work area that includes:14 linear foot window bar with 5 stools (with backs);7 community table with five chairs;6 Windows PCs (charges apply) in carrels and fax and printers.Their Wi-Fi is UNUSABLE.Management says (1/11/17) that corporate is aware of the situation and is working on it.My advice:sit close to the window and use LinkNYC.
Very good store for your office, school, home and tech supplies. Multi level in a great neighborhood - close to transportation at West 79th Street and Broadway there is the No.1 Train, the M104 Bus and the crosstown bus at 79th and Broadway. There is also the M7 and M11 bus travelling North (uptown) on Amsterdam Avenue. This store is near DSW shoe store and across from the iconic Zabars store so you can kill two birds with one stone if you also need to get some food shopping done before heading home.

2022-01-12Terrible selection!! This store has nothing but empty boxes on its shelves and claims its because people shoplift, causing people to wait for the associate to go in the back to get the real item, which may or may not be there. What a waste of customers time. This is New York City, aint nobody got time for that..

2021-03-04Great store ! Prices are the lowest around especially for cleaning products and the like . A box of 50 masks under $8 ! Awesome !The copy and print dept is very large and the quality is wonderful . There are a few associates that have been there for years and make your life easier by knowing what you are looking for and they call you with new items or sales that someone would be interested in .

2021-01-30On 1/29/2021, I needed to purchase HP 63XL Black and Color Cartridges. I was helped by a very nice tall African American young person with braids, (I’m sorry that I didn’t get her name!!).I was then helped by another helpful young man at the checkout counter. I asked if I had any coupons associated with my account, which “Sammy”, replied no, BUT that he would check to see if he could offer ANY discounts. He did find a “100% Price Guarantee” which brought down my bill by $2.10!! It was a minuscule discount but I took it. Sammy was what a “Customer Service” person is all about!! He made it a point to see if the store had ANY discounts or promotions and by doing do, “thought outside the box”!! THANK YOU Staples AND Sammy for making my trip quite nice!!Cordially,Delyn Grant

2022-01-30Store is fine. They /never/ answer their phones though even though I have a simple question needing a 10 second answer.

2020-08-21Don’t apply for a job here. They are not really interested in hiring anyone. I came for an interview on time, but apparently the manager wasn’t expecting me since she was still on the phone when I came in. I waited about ten minutes before someone else came along. During the interview, the manager asked questions that were totally irrelevant to the job. She was condescending and rude, and it seemed like she thought I had false things on my resume (which wasn’t the case). Once again, you’ll only be wasting your time applying and interviewing here. Don’t bother wasting your time on a minimum wage job you won’t get.
