Staples in other cities:
I bought a laptop at staples in October and was told that if I opened a staples credit card, I would receive $50 off by way of $25 off first statement and $25 off second. Well this was a lie. I recieved first statement and no money was taken off. I spent over 2 hours on the phone talking to many representatives to learn they could not help me. I was told the store was supposed to sign me up with a reward number and since the store failed to do, I was out of luck. This store is filled with a lot of inept and misinformed employees. I have since cancelled my staples credit card and they lost a customer. SMH....poor customer service not to mention unethical practice.
This location is very unprofessional and unorganized. I’ve been standing in front on two employees for over 30 minutes and no one thought to ask me for help. The self serve printers do not take Apple Pay even though they have the Apple Pay sign. When I asked for assistance to print they acted as if there was nothing they could do, meanwhile they could’ve just printed my documents and I pay at the register. I’m very displeased with my experience at this location. I do not recommend.
Waited forever in store. No one asked, no worker said a word, until about 14 minutes in The responder was not too happy to serve me, but I dont think its personal I think theyre overworked, underpaid and undervalued. The low score is for the large corporation ad the major shareholders making huge profit margins off the poorer workers! The rich get richer, and customer service goes down the digital and physical toilets. But the big corps are too big to fail? Not the poor workers and customers?
So I just wanted to leave a brief review of my experience at this particular location on 1-11-21 between the times of 12-1pm,in the copy/print section,I was kinda rushing to print my paperwork and go about my day, unfortunately I didn’t get the names of the 2 young employees present at the time but they went above and beyond to assist me in getting my paperwork in order for my union which is very Important to me,I really hope their patience and kindness is noticed and rewarded by superiors as they deserve it,mind you I waited to be helped and witnessed how they helped other customers in the same manner, this is what customer service is all about, cheers.
Terrible customer service. Was waiting in the printer section for service. Wanted to buy a printer. Two workers didnt say anything and one asked if we needed help. I wanted to buy printer. Waited almost 20 mins for someone to tell me that they didnt had any in stock. What a waste of time.
For an institution that offers services of HIGH TECHNOLOGY, I don’t understand how none of the managers had thought to put a link where we can order our copies and documents and prepay instead of letting us bake in this heat and get more chances of getting the coronavirus which even small businesses and coffee shops do! Bravo to the management !!! No thinking !
A friend of mine had an emergency Situation that we need to print out documents at Staples because her printer was malfunctioning. The girl that was working not only completely ignored us we ended up spending $30.00 for 12 pages of print. We will buy a printer. However, we not buy it at Staples.
Customer service is not great at the East 86th Street store. When in the store, its hard to find a knowledgable customer service person. If you call the store, you get a long-winded message that could end with We are experiencing blah blah blah, please call back. High turnover of employees? Lack of trained staff? Who knows.
This WAS a nice store to shop in ... redesigned recently ... I DO NOT LIKE IT ... you have to walk all the way to the back of the store to shop for basic items and then walk all the way to the very front of the store to pay. I spoke to several other people on line with me to see if it was just me ... its not. Staff is helpful, but store design confused shoppers. Not good Staples!
Today, I approached a customer service desk n told a casher how disenchanted I was, n I wanted to pay for my product, already purchased. So she was willing n helped me. She explained what to look for when bill comes n it should be $O. Sales persons always plentiful n they really dont say, may Ihelp you. When u ask for help, you feel like you are disturbing them. They are always congregating I have to approach them, n ask for help n get short answers. First of Oct. I finally got a man in a black shirt. If he didnt give me good service n it gave me product knowledge, so I made a purchase n love it, I would have brought.
Haven’t had any complaints except for having to wait long lines to pay for a purchase. They should have more help at rush hours. They are certainly aware when those occur.. If you haven’t the patience to wait, this might be an obstacle. Most New Yorkers expect some wait time but here waiting is standard practice for obtaining anything.Check their busy hours and if possible avoid them.Otherwise, tech help has been good and often the pricing is lower than at Best Buy down the street. Withcompetitive Price Matching , however, an option at BB, it is easier to get what you want faster and at a lowered price . If Staples could imitate some aspects of Amazon, making online ordering a bit faster, those who could would never venture into the store to wait on a real line.
To jump right into it, this is a pretty small store and I actually thought it was just a copy center the first time I came in in a rush. The upstairs portion, though a bit inconvenient because of the slow elevators, had the bevy of normal items you would find at a Staples location, and my opinion is that Staples is relatively expensive for what youre getting but can be essential for those items that you cant find easily online. Service was friendly and with a smile and I was processed quite quickly despite the line. I cant comment on the copy station but my experience was solid.
A regular Staples as you might expect. This review is more for Staples in general rather than just this store assuming they have the same practices.to:Dr - dont go to Staples to print.Went in for a print job. First the printer wasnt reading my USB. Then it took forever to connect to my Dropbox account. Then I found out I couldnt print multiple files at a go. Had to repeat like a 3min process for every single file. In middle of that to the printer froze. I gave up and logged into a computer they have for printing. It took sometime to boot and longer time to log off.. The ports on it were busted. When printing from the computer its somehow 4 time more expensive as compared to printing from the printer! And keep in mind they charge you for using their computers too !So again. Dont go to Staples for printing. Buy a printer or go to FedEx.
I brought items for shredding but the scale was broken, so they had to estimate how much my stuff weighed. This was after going to the 66th and 2nd location only to find out it closed.A woman came in with her walker and aide. The elevator and escalator were both out of service so she proceeeded to walk up the escalator. 👎
The most pathetic service Ive ever experienced. I came in to purchase a laptop and they had multiple people going back and forth to check inventory to for over 45 minutes leaving me waiting the entire time. In the end they didnt have any laptops in stock that were on display. Complete waste of time.
Do not go this center. The computers are incredibly slow and it actually does not work. I was being charged doing nothing because you need to log in it by credit card. So, I moved to another computer, but same thing happened. Doesnt work. They are stealing your money, and no staff cares about this.
I dont really like the layout of this Staples. The first floor is kind of small and can get crowed. The first floor is just the copy center. To get to the second floor you have to take the elevator. There is only one escalator and it is only going down. The second floor is bigger but the staff isnt really helpful. They all seem kind of miserable. Also the cashiers are super slow! So it takes forever to check out.
Disaster. Left documents to print (special cardstock) and they did not do it on time (told to me to come back in two days! 5 pages letter size) . Very bad manners from the girl working here. Not at all professional. Go to the one in 2nd avenue and 66th. Way more efficient than here where they do not know what they are doing at all.

2022-04-24Alan, you are our hero of the day. In a very last minute call on Friday night (when you should have been closing shop), you instead turned back on your lamination machine to help a young college student in need. Thank you! Everything turned out picture perfect for Saturdays scientific research symposium. We share this certificate with you ❤️. Thank you again Alan for going that extra yard for a customer. 👏

2022-06-25Their TSA pre-check is pretty easy and seamless. The layout of the store however, is very odd and I took longer then expected just to find sheet protectors afterwards.

2022-03-14If youre thinking of printing anything other than regular paper JUST DONT DO IT. The customer service at the printing section of this location is so horrible. Worst experience Ive ever had at Staples. Treated all customers with condescending attitude and dont expect any help from them just a waste of money.

2021-10-11I thought I bought a multipack of mechanical pencils on sale for my son to use in school. But later realized they were gel ink pens( just noticed the shape and colors not reading the label). So returned to the store with my receipt- there was a line - so somebody not already cashiering took care of me. Took my item did my return saying it will be credited to my account. But the receipt said cash- because I used a debit card for my purchase/ and return. Rejoined the line to speak to someone else to clarify. The other cashier in the middle of helping someone else- said the same thing. Will be back in my account in 3-5 business days. Nothing- and shortly after I had a family emergency and couldn’t be bothered to go out my way to try to maybe get my $12 back. Just be careful- look at receipts and products- I’m sure I’m not the only one getting stuck waiting on. refund that never comes

2021-08-19Had no idea how to transfer a photo from my Samsung notes to make a copy at the store.I was at my wit ends, but God sent me an Angel.By the name of Felicity, at the copy section. She not only guided me but actually did the entire process for me without any hesitation that l was occupying her busy schedule. So attentive to my desperate need of that flyer to be printed. We need more employees to treat customers the proper way without shoveling us to the side as if we were occupying valuable space.God Bless her for the rest of her life .😊

2021-09-28I arrived 30 minutes before the store closes just to laminate a single piece of paper that I really needed for my work and the lady refused to take it as she has other orders to do.I wonder how long it take to laminate a piece of paper. It is ridiculous and frustrating after all running I have done to catch them before they close and she refuses to take during working hours. This would never happen unless the management is very poor.

2021-06-09Jessica at the Printing Services Center is AMAZING. Called her at 7am to place an order to print and bind presentations and she had everything ready to go by 10:30am. For such helpful, knowledgeable and communicative support I was shocked by how cheap printing was, especially compared to other rush printers. On top of everything, I was offered a 20% discount. 100% calling Jessica at the 86th and Lex Staples for my next printing job.
