Star Subaru service was outstanding. Always on top of things and takes good care of their customers. Mark Smith, service manager, is a class act. The receptionists, Sharon and Jenny, are courteous and very helpful. When you buy a new car, dont forget how important the dealers service center is. It makes a difference.
On Monday 1/6/20 I had a flat. I went to a local well known tire shop to get it repaired, they said it was in the sidewall a could not be repaired. They put an order in for a new tire and told me to come back Wednesday, no tire please come back Saturday, no tire, come in Monday or Tuesday. I called Star Subaru Service and asked if they had the tire in stock, they did. They gave me the price for the tire and installation. I asked if they could do it that day and they said come right in. My tire was installed within an hour and a half of my phone call. This is outstanding service. The price was even better then the tire shop. With service like this why go anywhere else. Thanks to all at Star Subaru Service Dept.
The service and the people who work at Star Subaru are very nice . But laber cost is too high !! There is no reason for this .........When my outback was finished, and I received my bill . The labor alone was over six hundard dollars. That in its self was a real eye opener !! But Im glad the car was taken care of ......
I came in for a check engine light on my 2016 Subaru Impreza. It’s $150 just to run a diagnostic. Then I was told if I chose to do the work that $150 will go towards the job so I said fine, thinking that hopefully the job wouldn’t be too expensive. What I didn’t know was that they were planning on CHARGING $600 FOR LABOR ALONE so of course that $150 would be added to the job. The parts only cost $95. This place steals your money and takes advantage of you. I do not recommend getting work done here even if you have warranty. I got the impression that they will take you for a ride (financially) if you let them.
Bad experience this week at Subaru service. Vehicle sustained damage and no one took any responsibility nor showed that they cared. No procedure for these types of incidents. No manager on the premises and no one cared to solve the situation. Will not be returning to Star Service and will never recommend Star vehicles just because of their service departments. Two days later and still no call from a manager. They made me hang out and wait for two hours and then showed me a video of me driving in trying to tell me that my car was already damaged. Car is barely two years old and no damage only for the vehicle to be damaged while being serviced.
Friendly staff, wait time not the worst, not the best. I asked them not to do something, they did it anyway. Why does almost every auto service shop on earth no matter where and what you drive not run efficiently. They’re all clearly around to generate additional dealership and manufacturer profit by any means necessary, might as well make it pleasant for customers when they’re taking it every which way.
Not too sure why Ive read a lot of less than stellar reviews, but our experience today was pretty good. The staff and crew at the service center are very nice, informative, on-point, and professional from start to finish. Special mention to Mr. Sherborne Williams who was helpful throughout the way! Service was relatively fast compared to other places, and the waiting lounges were comfortable. This is the reason why were sticking to Subaru bec the service just says a lot about how they value their customers. Thank you!
I had my check engine light come on right before a big road trip for the Thanksgiving holiday. I was able to get my car scheduled online for service Tuesday before Thanksgiving and I was on the road Wednesday am. Kevin updated me on the status of the car throughout the day and helped to ensure I could make it home for the holiday. Excellent service and I will be back for all my cars future needs.
Had to change the windshield on a brand new forester, went well so far until we noticed some leak after strong rains. They said it was fixed, but a few weeks later the leak was still there. They looked into it, cannot find the leak and started to imply we were lying. We really had to Insist for the work to be done and the leak fixed, they gave us the car back dirty.
I have had positive experiences at the service point. I truly miss Lou, however, the new reps are polite and professional. I also request early morning appointments, so Im usually out relatively quick. The waiting area is clean, has adequate seating and the coffee is not bad. I also like the free car wash coupon, extra perk.
Yenny is an excellent service representative at star subaru, was clear with what needed to be done, and helpful with questions. Service for a replacement of a tire was quick even though they had to order the specific tire that I needed. I would recommend going to star subaru for any subaru owner.
If I could I would give them 0 stars .They are scamers and lires. I went there with windshield fluid leaking they told me 50$ part 500 $ labor. Iam not automechanic but I fix it my self part was 2$ and it took me 30 min to fix it . Dont trust these guys at all . Stay away people 🙄
My first visit for my first 6000 miles oil change, simple and easy process right? But they forgot to close the engine oil cap and return the car to me. The oil spill all over the engine bay until I smell a strong gas smell inside the car. Once I open they hood, oils are everywhere! I also found they over fill the oil. The oil mark on the dipstick is about 1 inch higher from the highest dot. This is what they do for living everyday! How can they screw up! Lucky my car did not catch fire!Star, if you see this post, please remind your technician double check the customers cars before return to them! Your technician can kill someone if their did careless work!
Called up to get a price on a Transmission Fluid change for my 2017 WRX 6 Speed Manual. They quoted me $331 for just a fluid change. The average price for this car would be around $90-$130 out the door. Was testing the waters with Star and I will not be using them for any service ever despite them being the closest to my house.
I was told the first oil change service was complimentary on my 2019 Crosstrek. When I got there, Im told just the oil change, tire rotation is extra $35, which I paid, since Im already there. Im just saying, I can do a tire rotation my self for free takes 15 mins, why would you charge a new customer who you want to be loyal and bring in his car for all future repairs? Its just being greedy on the dealers part, like all other dealers out there. Just throw in that tire rotation in the so called first free oil change service in the future, you will have more happy customers. Not going back there again.
If you are interested only in the highlights, they are twofold:1.Star Subaru are dishonest and unprofessional: their diagnosis for a loud rattling coming from the rear quarter of our Outback was to replace our exhaust clamp, and that our drive belt was whining, and our windshield wipers were streaking, and that those should also be replaced. Total: $340.2.Because our “bumper to bumper extended warranty” would not cover the work, we brought it to our mechanic of ten years. None of the problems Star Subaru identified actually exist. We had a loose heat shield. He fixed it for free. Now, the longer story. We got the extended warranty when we bought our used 2015 Outback because my wife needs a car for work and if ours ever needed to be in the shop, we were assured that we could get a loaner. When our car started to make the loud rattling which we eventually brought it in for, I called both Koeppel and Star Subaru on May 22nd and tried to make an appointment. The earliest they could get me in was on June 3rd, so we took the appointment with the assurance from Sharon that we could get a loaner if our car needed work.On June 3rd, I arrived at 7:30am for our appointment. Our 3rd party warranty did not come up in the system, but I had the car diagnosed while I waited for the dealership where we bought the car to open up. Once that dealership (in Stamford) opened, they sent over the necessary paperwork. Unlike any other professional, Sharon did not call to verify my coverage, but instead had me do it (then took over once I’d been waiting on the phone with the warranty company for 20 minutes). At this point, the car had been “diagnosed” and we had the list of needed repairs. None we covered by the warranty and I was not about to have my drive belt replaced nor was I going to pay someone to have the windshield wipers replace. However, since my warranty would not cover the work, I was now on the hook for the $130 diagnostic fee.So I said fine, I would have them replace the exhaust clamp since they would waive the fee if I had the “work” done there. Sharon disappeared for 10 minutes or so then returned with the news that they did not have the part. I asked when they would have the part and she said they could have it the next day. I said fine, then let me get a loaner so that I can leave my car here. She said that she couldn’t do it. I refused to not pay the diagnostic fee and asked that they bring my car back around. 20 minutes later, I went in to ask where my car was and Sharon said they were brining it around. 10 minutes after that, I went back inside and asked where my car was, and Sharon said she was getting it now. My keys were next to her on the desk.We dropped the car off at our mechanic the following day. He found that the car is in perfect condition and that the heat shield had come loose and only needed a new bolt tapped to be secured once again.I do not know whether Star Subaru would have actually replaced my exhaust clamp and drive belt (I imagine so since they said they would have to wait for the part), but in any event, the work that would have been done would have been completely unnecessary.I wasted 4hrs of my life at Star Subaru’s repair center. I cannot stress it enough. Do not go here.
A simple oil change and headlight replacement had gone terribly awry. Firstly, this job took 3 hours to accomplish. I waited patiently in my seat to only retrieve my vehicle covered in grease, missing fasteners that left my bumper unsecured and a broken battery mount. Some of the staff was understanding towards my complaints, others were dismissive and incredibly disrespectful. If you value the work put into your vehicle then believe me when i tell you, this work is subpar. I will not be returning here.
People whining about the time things take dont seem to take into account other human beings and their cars. Its a busy place. My radiator blew on the way to the airport and I limped to Star Subaru. They had my car a day and half total to order and replace a radiator and flush out the transmission. (not counting the day it took me to get back to the garage)Everyone, from the man who put me into the system to the woman who processed my payment was polite and professional.Admittedly, I think I couldve gotten the work done cheaper if I had been able to get the car back to my regular mechanic, but their labor rates are posted. Am satisfied.
So.. I walked in the parts department needing an oil pan drain plug gasket simple enough I thought.. Parts guy asked me for the make, model, year and Vin# to my car!? I was shocked! I said why in the hell do you need the Vin# to my vehicle? By the way he was relentless! He says he wants to make sure he gets the correct part for my car. Bull$@#%! Its just another way to extract more information so the dealer can sell your personal information.
I called Monday to order a windshield arm replacement for my crosstrek, the guy tell me it will be ready for pick up next day. I call the next day and a guy named Kan tells me there’s nothing and he doesn’t know who I spoke to. I request to speak to a manager, manager no where to be found. Overall the place is not to be taken serious since they don’t take their costumers serious. Poor very poor costumer service. Guy kan said he was too busy to help me.
This service department is horriable. Took 3 trips and having my car for 3 weeks to figure out what the problem is. I know warranty work is not the most important to service departments since they do not make money off of it. Not only that when i recieved my car back it was a complete mess inside, rubber gloves all over the inside of my car the contents of my glove box dumped out all over the back seat. Center console was also loose which was not before. Now months later i have a flat and i go into the back to change tire and jack and lug wrench is gone and i know for a fact it was there before they had my car for 3 weeks. The only reason i give them 2 stars was because they did provide a loaner car despite the fact i did not purchase my car from them. Also trying to get information from them regarding the staus of my car over the 3 weeks was like pulling teeth. But really how do they take the jack and lug wrench out of car???
Glacially slow service and complimentary multi-point vehicle checks that invariably result in mid 3-figure quotes for suggested fixes. Be prepared to clean your door sills/armrests from lots of grease and dirt after picking up your vehicle. On the plus side, the actual service repairs are done correctly from my experience so far. Tip: Buy and install your own cabin air filter - its easy, and you will save a lot.
Wish I could give them a negative star,I walked in here to change the battery for my two years old forester , a guy at the desk said regardless the warranty, I still have to pay $130 for “labor”.I went to my machanic, he took care of it for 120 for everything plus three years warranty on the battery. What a scum bags these people are! Unbelievable!
Lack of professional development. Mr. Nelson Saez has poor customer service manner. This place is interested in getting you pay big bucks. If you have major concern, they try to brush you off because the shop is too busy to listen & handle your concerns. I found it disappointing & would not come back here for its unreliability.
I brought my Subaru in to have all 4 brakes replaced and to have my sound system looked at. Sonli worked with me every step of the way. He called everyday that my car was being serviced to update me on whether the problem with the sound system was figured out yet. Eventually, they decided I needed a new amp. This was out of my warranty, but they worked with Subaru to get everything covered. Both Sonli and the manager were excellent, Subaru was excellent, and everyone there was awesome!
A synthetic oil change for $65.99 plus a tire rotation for $29.99 totalling $104.49 after taxes. An oil change with a Groupon voucher at 106 St Tire Shop in Corona Queens, oil change $15 plus $25 extra for synthetic oil totalling $40. You also get a FREE tire rotation with the oil change.
I would have gave a negative 10 if that was one of the choices for the rating. I brought in my Toyota for inspection and at the end of the day to pick up my car my rearview mirror was hanging from the windshield and a piece of the windshield glass came off.My car was intact when I brought in, passed inspection but at the end of the day service advisor Danny Qin insisted oh it was the glue that came off because it was hot yesterday. I told him it was hot all month and there is no way piece of windshield would come off along with the rearview mirror. Danny Qin just kept saying it was like that changing the story. We call the service manager and he was just being a real jerk. I will never go back there again. The employees are just so incompetent, unprofessional and aggressive in just trying to sell you things that your car do not need. Please be aware of this place.
The service department of Star Subaru is incredible!! As soon as I got there Sonli Duarte helped me out, offered me coffee, food, and as soon as I told him what was going on with the car, he said “say no more” they assessed the situation and ordered the parts right away. Duarte was very friendly and even went out of his way to try to get me a loaner. Two days later, the parts are here and I’m picking the car up. I’d recommend anyone with a Subaru and having any trouble going here. Also, at the sales department Chris is actually a pretty cool guy. Tell him what you want and what you need and he’ll help you out. Tell him Bladimir sent you for tiny but better than nothing discount.
I would give zero stars if I could. Terrible customer service and they basically don’t know what they are doing. First experience was for recalls. Made the appointment with the list of recalls. Had the car all day and the only repaired one. Had to spend another day to finish the rest along with a repair to the radio buttons on the steering wheel. They never got to the steering wheel. Made another appointment today to repair the automatic start that was installed by Subaru. They called an hour later saying the car didn’t have one. It’s been there for 6 years since day one. 6 hour later and it was never fixed. They aren’t sure where to have it fixed. They have teo other places to send me which means another day off from work to repair my car. Useless.
Star Subaru service much better than 2 years ago.my Subaru AC not working ,the guy (sonli) he is very nice man to service me.but I am not give it 5 star because they repair AC took long time,I drop off my car at 10:30 am they say cant done by today.and they dont give me a car . next day I didnt have a car to go to work
TAKE THESE RATINGS SERIOUS AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. ANY BUSINES THAT HAS MORE BAD RATINGS THAN GOOD ONES IS A PROBLEM, EVERYONE ELSE CANT BE THE PROBLEM! Amazing service at the service center but the body shop is another story. Kevin the guy handling the body work is extremely unprofessional and he does not do whats asked of the customer. My vehicle is fully insured and it took a month for me to get my car back with only half of the work done. The settings in my car were changed and the inside was dusty, the day I went to pick up my car I waited an hour for Kevin who I couldnt wait for. STAR SUBARUS BODY SHOP IS THE WORSE. I HOPE EVERYONE READING THIS NEVER TAKES THEIR CAR TO THOSE FOLKS!Update: IT IS NOW THE DEAD OF WINTER AND MY CAR ISNT BLOWING HEAT. AS MENTIONED ABOVE I WILL NOT BE DOING BUSINESS WITH STAR SUBARU THE SHOW ROOM NOR THE SERVICE CENTER. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALER I LEARNED MY COOLANT LINE WAS CUT BY THE INDIVIDUAL THAT DID THE BODY WORK SO IT ISNT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I CONTACTED STAR SUBARU AND WAS TOLD BY KEVIN THE NEW BODY MAN THAT HE CANT FIX IT BECAUSE, THE COOLANT LINE IS NO WHERE NEAR WHERE THE WORK WAS DONE. THE WORK WAS DONE ON THE QUARTER PANEL WHICH ALSO AFFECTED THE WINDOW ON THAT SIDE, SMH. ITS QUITE ALRIGHT BECAUSE NEVER AGAIN.THEY DESERVE ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS INCLUDING THE TERRIBLE RATINGS. TAKE HEED AND TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE. I SHOULDVE WENT WITH MY INSTINCTS AFTER READING THE COMMENTS BUT I DIDNT AND NOW I KNOW.
My tech name was Angel, I fixed the car in Star Toyota last year, they racked up $2000 before finding the actual issue with the car!! I ended paying over $2500 when I could of payed for the actual problem only which was $500!!!!! I should of never brought the car to Star Toyota, dont bring it there if you want to be robbed blindly!!

2021-07-19They took a look at my car and turns out I needed an extensive repair to the engine. Financially it was not something that I could do at the moment so needed to take my car back to have fixed at a later date. See the attached pictures of how they packed the parts into my car. Very Unprofessional!!

2022-03-03I came in for a 30k maintenance and came out with a 4K bill. Maintenance was around 400 then they said my brakes were bad and need to replace them. Another 2k. After they test drove it, they asked if I was hearing a loud clunking sound. What?! I did not have that coming in. Now another 2k on top. They gave me 10% off the service but then have a 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card. Never coming here again!!!

2021-07-05The second time I took care of the car on June 24! Today is July 5th. I opened the front case cover. I found that the car’s coolant was not added, and the glass water was not added! I am disappointed! Your job is very dereliction of duty!

2022-01-26Just got an oil change for my car, staffs are nice, specially the staff from reception desk, James Park, he took care of my case, explained in details and answered my questions. I can say Star Subaru did a great job, which makes me to purchase my next car in Star Subaru again.

2021-10-23I had my tires rotated and oil changed here and thought everything was fine. One month later, I needed new tires and had the mobile tire shops come install the new tires. The tech got to a point where he could not properly remove some of the lugs. Turns out when the tire rotation was done, the tech at Subaru must have been lazy and did not hand tighten first, before applying the impact gun, and I ended up with more than half of the lugs and studs cross-threaded, damaged, and they were not useable. I am avoiding this place from now on. For such a simple job, I could have avoided this issue and $$$. Just because you have an impact gun set to correct torque spec, doesnt mean you cant account for human error.

2021-10-04I payed over 2k for fixing rear wheel problem in April 2021. 6 month later bigger problem occurred in same area and now they are charing 3k for fixing it. Why did they not fixed or found it at first time? (diagnostic is not free) or not even admitting if there were any mistake in repair or diagnostic? I am spending over 5k this year to my $32,000 2014 Outback which I just paid off last year. This will be my first and last Subaru.

2021-04-30The staff from this place are extremely rule. They told their customer (me) to get out of their office. I sent my car in this morning and asked for a shuttle ride. They told me the shuttle would be available in 15-20mins. I waited 30 mins but the shuttle did not show up. I spoke to the same person again from the front desk to see whether or not the shuttle would be available. That staff was very impatient and started yelling at me and accusing me that I did not have a appropriate plan. Very disrespectful. Additionally, I only had my car for six months and the car already presented issues. I even purchased their app on my phone to get a report in order to preventing issues but it was useless. Very disappointed at Subaru.
