Been coming here for years. Before & during pandemic. This place is a magical place with historical therapeutic soothing calmness. As soon as you enter your body begins to heal and feel happy and alive. However 30 minutes after you leave you will return to your previous state.
Its a beautiful park but not really maintained. The grass is growing in the play area and it was a really hot day and the sprinkler system wasnt turned on. I called 311 to file a complaint and i was told 2 weeks for my compliant to be reviewed....by that time the summer will be over. Hope they improve on this 😒 ...lots of kids could really enjoy those sprinklers
This park is pretty simple, the entrance is obscured by the bus garage on the north end but once you get in its a nice park. If you cross the River in the photo you will reach the playgrounds and other play areas. The Canadian Geese love this park so beware of Goose poop and the Sheridan expressway is on the other side of the fence so expect some noise pollution.
Very nice park, but very poor location. This is a beautiful neighborhood park with an open picnic area, large multi purpose field, basketball courts and even a pier. Unfortunately it is not the easiest park to get to. Nested between Sheridan Expressway and the Bronx River your entrance options involve having to cross heavy traffic on foot. There was also an obvious disregard to parking as it is non-existent.
I enjoy going down it with the kids that I babysit and my grandchildren and my great granns because its has things for them toParticipate inThey have the jungle Jam they have the exercise part they have swings they can play football or baseball walk around track you can cook out if you want to throw a little kids party down there me and myself pack lunch and we find a picnic spot and Ill put the umbrella to shade us from the Sun and sit in one spot where I can watch them as they playthat Park its a lot of sun but I can deal with it
Am I seeing things?Or are there in fact shapes of faces in the trees along the banks of Bronx River, men in the bushes and women in shrubbery?Boys and girls too and certainly non-binaries though didnt see. For my mind was away taken by cartoons, fairy images, ducks, geese and pigs all smiling. They all seem content and very happy skipping along dancing down the Bronx River banks.
Nice place to go and have a pic nic lunch at the pic nic tables..but DO NOT GO WHILE THE SUN IS BLAZING....YOU WILL ROAST! Please NYC Parks Dept, I Pray that you are reading this review. ..LARGE SPRINKLER PLAY AREA IS NEEDED FOR THE KIDDIE PLAY AREA.some type of SHADE in the park....nice strong WATER FOUNTAINS for the bball players and soccer players. Thank you!

2022-05-10Nice and clean. Huge playground. It could use some improvements like having the entramce and ground more stroller and wheelchair accessible.

2022-04-17Park is lovely. Looks like some construction is going on and once it’s complete there will be even more to enjoy!

2021-08-03Parts of Starlight Park appear to be under construction. From what I could see they are trying to create a park that connects Starlight with Concrete Plant Park. Which would be great! This space is meticulously designed for the community. For the photographer there are lots of good lines and right outside the park, there are still points of urban decay...perfect for the Urban Photographer who loves that grunge look. Definitely worth a visit.

2021-09-28This is a beautiful park in the East Crotona section of Bronx NY . I am updating my past review of this park to reflect on the fact that the sprinklers are now on and available. They are working on constructing a very necessary new public restroom. They also built 3 new bridges to help connect it with Concrete Park and to make traveling across towards the Soundview part of Bronx which is a great convenience. It’s an absolute beauty and I recommend everyone to come visit this hidden gem.

2022-02-02I love this park, but I really wish they would build a calistenics park within it. The park is big enough and would promote getting active and in shape while breathing fresh air. All the best.
