The General Manager, Charles was nice and inviting. He was making Infused Gin with Rosemary and blueberry, which was ironically the drink I chose. Super cool and let me smell the beauty of the infusion. Thanks for making me feel welcome! First bar in Bushwick. I may be back sooner than I thought💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
First time playing a show here. Not too sure about the pay to play aspect but we also did a no cover show we hosted and currated....The sound here on stage for bands isnt the best but the crowd said it was gtg. Over all grear dribks and great vibes. If youre gonna see a show here works better if its scaled down. The piano was in tune!Kingkweenmusic out 🤙🏾
The local is great, bartender is amazing, plant-based food was filling and tasty, just what you need with some good drinks. One of the owners/ managers was very comfortable/dictative about his views on the virus/vaccinations and what they thought was right or wrong (kind of complaining). Everyones entitled to their opinion but both as a customer and business owner myself, it was unexpected and I found it to be unprofessional and unappealing
A perfect microcosm of Bushwicks gentrification over the past few decades, Starr Bar is a veritable lightening rod for the BK hipper-than-thou set. Cool and cozy old school tavern vibe, plus the folks who sublet the back of their space make the most incredible vegan BBQ you will ever taste. Not a typo. Vinnie Barbarino might be turning over in his grave, but like it or not, sustainable gastropub delights are the new Brooklyn, boyee.
When there to watch the final circus act *Coughs* I mean presidential debate. The bartender Joe was really nice and friendly. Happy hour drinks were cheap and made very well. the crowd was friendly and hip. I will definitely go back to this place and take a few friends with me :) Awesome place and the food is even better..
Dope spot to chill in Brooklyn. Has a room for performances. Came once for a comedy show and was thoroughly entertained. Free quality entertainment and drinks were good. Ordered a fee different drinks and was very satisfied. Definitely a bar I would recommend, check out website for upcoming shows and performances.
The food was amazing! The new chef was a great idea!!!! I would definitely go back to dine and maybe even for the night life. I do think they could use a waiter, that was the only thing that could have been better. Orherwise, food was GREAT, service was great, drinks were great!
Monks Smokehouseat Starr BarIve spoken to the Monks proprietor10x in the past few years andhes always a bit hostile, unfriendly in tone and attitude.Honeybees has superior burntends and quantity of choices butMonks wins in freshness and overall consistent quality and texture, serious about their fancy rubs, smoke and techniques.Come early in the evening for a comfortable, funky, quiet, airy vibe. Two casual meals, fries and sides50 bucks
It is vegan. They open after 5. I went there twice and had the salad its pretty good. Both times something was missing shiitake bacon and bbq chickpeas. Which for $15 is not what you want to hear. They are not doing that many mushroom dishes, they have a lot of soy in dressings and tempeh. BTW king oyster mushrooms my favorite at H-Mart are $2.50 per 3. I make all the same recipes+ just sad to see people over charge.
I went for an event. The space was cool and you can tell it is big even though it was packed. But the staff does not know how to handle large crowds. I never got my food. I knew it was crowded so I wanted to be patient but after 45min of never getting an order of fries, i decided to follow up with the bartender. She handed me some fries from the back part of the bar where a line of ordered food was just sitting, which it had been for about 45 minutes from when I went to the restroom and first noticed the food. So apparently they just gave up on giving anyone their food without even attempting. As the staff got overwhelmed, the experience of gettng food and drinks just kept getting worse so I just left the event all together. Hungry and disappointed
The waitress is super cool, her name is Micah. The reason why I remember is because that’s my middle name but it’s spelled differently. I had a yuca burger and it was yummy. When here on a first date and the vibe was pretty dope. They have live performance and when there’s not a live performance there’s music playing in the background. Lovely place to just go and chill. Prices are decent and the vibe is dope.
What a great little spot. Just randomly picked this spot to hang with a few friends and I was not disappointed! The bartender/waitress was bubbly, funny and very accommodating. You really cant beat the Happy Hour 5-7. $5 drafts, $7 margaritasThe food though....OMG!!! Their cauliflower (Cauli Pau) is seriously some of the best Ive ever had. 1 person had the Starr Burger and another had the Cauliflower burger. No complaints there, but the starr of the night was definitely the appetizers. We tried them all (cauliflower, potato croquettes and panipuri puffs) and they were amazing. Great music, cool vibes. This bar is a must visit if youre in the area.Restrooms: 1 in the bar area. 2 in the performance space area. Clean and good sized.
Came here for an election night watch party for Juliq Salazar. Im glad they support political engagement and the progressive causes.I was thrown off by their lack of mainstream beers (no Guinness, etc.) Instead they have a strong selection of craft / local beers. The bartender recommended a craft alternative to the mainstream beer I wanted.
And awesome bar and club that not only hosts dope parties & great drinks but also hosts social justice events and funds the Mayday Space. A community center for Bushwick and surrounding communities. I cant reccomend a bar around there more than Starr Bar. Have a good time and keep the local, home grown community alive!
I visited Starr Bar for a friend of a friends birthday. It might have been an off night but the DJ was playing a hack set. I can dance to anything with a beat but the set was a janky mess. The drinks were decently priced but there wasnt anything that made me want to come back.
I was there last night for the Vibras NYC: Noche de los Santos event, so Im giving it four stars solely because I really enjoyed that. The bar itself was okay. The girl behind the bar was not friendly and had an attitude any time we asked a question. Asked for a jack/coke and it was definitely overpoured. Asked for a Chinga la Migra as the menu said it was a sweet drink and it has got to be the most bitter drink Ive ever had. Either there was definitely an ingredient missing from the drink which is why it was so bitter or the ingredients used were just old and rancid. Wouldnt go back for the drinks but would go back for another event like that one.
Shocking how one can let a man die on the sidewalk.A middle aged man was passing out outside the bar, fainted from possible diabetic conditions. He asked to call an ambulance and while we waited for it, the man asked for water and I rushed to the bar to get it. The waitress first lied that they had no plastic containers, I had to point containers and cups at her. When I came back after 5min for another cup, she saw me and while she knew why I was here for, went on to serve another customer, then called me sweetie while pouring the cup, and didnt offer any additional help. This is when a human should get dismissed for actually doing executing their job scope blindly. Remember Eichmanns excuse? At any scale a human life is a human life. This place is only suited for these hipsters I saw before me, passing by that fainted man who asked for an ambulance and water.Lets always try to help each other, as one community!
Simply amazing, energizing, and one of a kind experience! I saw the large screening of Ava DuVernays film 13th at the Starr Bar which had a great turnout. The discussions afterward was thought provoking and healthy. This is definitely a fast growing networking community space. Makes me proud to be a Brooklynite.

2021-12-28Come for live music and beers. Divey kinda feel... Like a back alley LA jazz club. Fairly large space for a Bushwick bar.
