Staten Island Care Center was not a facility I had heard of before. We were skeptical to send my father there. It was the best choice my family could have made. The staff is friendly and caring. The rehabilitation department was top notch. They were determined to get him walking and back home. Eddie PT, Andrea PT, and Richard OT were all excellent and really care about helping people and getting them better. We were blessed to have had them as therapists.
Everyone I encountered at Staten Island Care Center was exceptional! I was visiting my brother who is unable to do for himself and he looked very well taken care of very calm down from the past and everyone that I met that encountered was fantastic! Ive been in many rehab facilities and nursing homes and this is probably the first one I went into that had absolutely no bad odor which I realize is hard to control in such a place. But everyone at every level was genuinely kind and compassionate. I feel my brother was in a safe environment which is good because I live several states away and cant see him regularly. Words cannot express my gratitude to the Staten Island Care Center. I highly recommend them.
PLEASE DO NLT BRING YA FAMILY MEMBERS HERE this place is not good medically some of the pt is good but other then that this place is the worst ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS YOUR MONEY I strongly advise anyone not to bring anyone they truly care about trust me been here a long time it really sad they way staff members treat you and administration tells you what you want to hear and never Follows through I can’t stress enough how bad it is here please dont do it
I visited my uncle for the first time. He is a new patient. Everybody was very nice. Special thanks to Louis at the front desk who helped me bring my uncle for me to see him, and to accommodate my daughter and I. He also got help to get my uncle shaved. Thank you so much!!!!
Staten Island Care Center is very good to the residents. The staff is concern about the residents well being. Even you this tough time; I appreciate their patience with answering my calls as well as my family members. Thanks to all from administration; to staff. nursing, rehab team just a heartfelt of prayers and blessings to all.
It has taken me a while to write this review after having to grieve the loss of my father who was in this rehabilitation facility in August 2021. If anyone is thinking of having your loved ones go here PLEASE RUN in the opposite direction. My father was recovering from spinal surgery when he was transferred here for inpatient rehabilitation so he could get the proper assistance and physical therapy he needed. We never imagined what would happen a few weeks later...My father contracted Covid-19 from this rehabilitation center (of note he was fully vaccinated). We understand it’s a pandemic but we truly felt this place did not take the proper precautions whatsoever. On frequent occasions, we would see elderly patients run past security trying to escape. Security did not pay attention to who was in and who was out of the rehabilitation center. My dad suffered the consequences. Another patient tested positive about two weeks prior to my dad’s positive test result. We are not sure how it got transmitted to him, maybe through the staff...it is hard to determine. Of note, my father was in and out of hospitals for the last year and half (including during Covid-19) and he never had any experiences like this. He was safe because those hospitals took the necessary steps and precautions when dealing with high risk populations. Over a year and half into Covid-19 and he was never exposed ever. But worst of all was after he tested positive. My dad wanted to go to the hospital. But the rehab would not let him leave to go to the hospital without a doctor’s note, despite his recent spinal surgery and that he was high risk due to his age (67 y/o), medical conditions, and cancer treatments (chemotherapy). They told him to quarantine in a different room and that would be all he needed to do. You would think with the high risk population they would not only take more precautions but they would be quicker to intervene. In fact, he had just gotten chemotherapy a few days prior. Eventually he was able to be transferred to the hospital with a doctors note (our PCP was amazing in advocating for him), about a week after going to the hospital he was put on a ventilator, and he passed away a few weeks later. To make matters worse this place lost all of my fathers belongings after he passed away. The center tried to give us a box of someone elses things but we knew it was not my fathers belongings. For weeks they dodged our calls, even the managers would not call us back after requesting to speak to people at the top. Finally they admitted to us that they lost all of his belongings and offered us cash. It was not about the money for us, its having his belongings that we really wanted. We would have never imagined that a place we thought was meant to make him stronger and healthier would put him at such high risk. PLEASE I URGE YOU NOT TO PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. Please think twice.
My experience as a visitor was fantastic. Everyone was very nice, greeting as I came in. Face mask were worn all the time. The resident with his asst came down and she greeted me with a friendly smile, I was taken outside where there was trees and flowers. Very pleasant place. Thank you so much for the warm welcoming and taken care of the resident.
Although the place takes incredibly good care of my family member the rooms actually look nothing like this that is only on the Rehab fifth floor all the other floors need to be upgraded as far as Furniture goes and cleanliness they are pretty bad but the rehab is beautiful and the staff is absolutely incredible if you have a family member that needs caring for this is the place for them for sure I love every staff member there
I stayed at SI Care Center for three and a half months following surgery on a broken ankle. The first 8 weeks were waiting for the ankle to heal, the rest because of problems related to Multiple Sclerosis.I received excellent care. I cant speak highly enough of the rehab department, especially my Physical Therapist Eddie. He knew when to push me harder and when I needed to rest to avoid fatigue. He really seemed to take my treatment and progress personally. The nurses and CNAs were very good; some were exceptional, specifically nurse Molly and CNAs Kerri, Jorge, Pearla, Jessica, Delia, Tammi, Amira, and Damian. I hope administration notes this commendation.David, the concierge, was a huge help, especially regarding my dietary needs. He went out of his way to get certain special items to acommodate my restrictions. The food was generally pretty good, except for the vegetables which were canned and usually mushy, and almost exclusively peas, carrots, green beans, and wax beans.Social worker Yelena was helpful in arranging at-home care for after discharge.
I never write reviews but I had to make an exception this time. My mom came here for IV antibiotics for a few weeks. Everyone was so nice and caring! From Oded the administrator to the head nurse, Ms Ferry, to her nurses and housekeeping staff. Everyone smiled and greeted us by name. Ana from admissions was amazing and even the hospital said we would have a great experience and they were right! Thank you for everyone at Staten Island Care Center...if we ever need a nursing home again, we choose you!
The treatment from medical and p.tWas great especially the wound careDR. I HAVE GAINED SUPER PROGRESSThanks to his method of treating myWound. Other than that certain thingsCan be upgraded ,and the cna helpersShould take thier job qualifications more serious.and they should fiya different way to allow the seniors toSmoke to me its a sad sad issue. AlsoI would like to say that the food was so bad ,I wonder how can they serve these seniors this kind of food certain meals that they would serve was the same food they serve at rikers island and how can they take theses people ssi, SSDAnd only give them $50 a monthIts sad very sad
When I first arrived at SICC , I was in a lot of pain and because of my leg operation I had done and the staff here took care of me 100%. Starting with the nurses my amazing cnas and the rehab team who got me to walk again!I want to thank the 4th floor staff . Nurse Tina your the best ! And there were many more nurses who were superb and cared for me . The aides here helped me take showers and enhanced the care greatly for me. And then of course the rehab dept. helped me walk through it all. Eddy Marlon and Judy thank you!! I just want to thank everyone who cared for me . And lastly David the concierge who made sure all my needs were taken care of through out my stay God bless him!
I arrived at Staten Island Care Center after being in SI University Hospital in desperate need of rehab due to a knee issue. I was nervous, scared and teary-eyed not knowing what to expect. Right away I was met by nurses Cheryl, Irene and Eberry, who noticed my emotions immediately and held my hand, reassuring me that everything was going to be ok, and let me tell you, THEY WERE RIGHT! My therapists (PT-Stella, and OT-Angelo) were FANTASTIC, they pushed me to do the work that needed to be done, in a firm caring way and I am eternally grateful for having them on my side. EVERYONE at SICC goes above and beyond for the residents. From the CNA’s that worked with me, (Erlinda, Jeannie, Ronnie, Georgie, Nora and all the others) to N.P Moira, the doctor’s, the RN’s, the SW’s (Ovi and Yelena), Supervisor’s, etc...ALL are exceptional people with Hearts of Gold. I cannot express enough how AMAZING this center is, words truly do no justice, but I will forever recommend SICC.
The nurses here are very caring. The staff in general is always striving to do better. The social workers are also very good. The nurse practioner really looks out for me. The concierge is a great guy who looks out for every one. I would recommend this rehabilitation place to all.
My dad Ramon, went to Staten Island Care very ill. Thanks to the caring and professional staff there my dad was discharged yesterday in great physical health. The place is very clean and the staff, especially on the 5th floor were very kind and easy to talk to with any concerns. I would definitely recommend this facility for your loved ones for their rehabilitation.
I went to staten island care center after having knee replacement surgery.i didnt think i would ever be strong enough to recover. Thanks to Eddie in PT and Judy from OT I am walking out the door. They were kind but firm. They knew what I could do even when I didnt. And pushed me to meet my goals.
The rehabilitation program is amazing, all the therapist that helped my mom recover from being wheelchair bound to walking out of the facility were determined to make my mom walk, words cant describe how grateful and appreciative my family and I are. The 5th floor staff were all very attentive to my mothers needs, from the housekeeping staff, nas rns lpns, nurse practitioners and all that I didnt mention were all wonderful. Thank you all, and thank you Mr. Yehuda Zidele the concierge for attending to my mothers needs. Only thing they need to improve on is the dietary part, they can improve on the food they serve to the patients.
7 years ago... I was employed by this facility. In my opinion I was an exemplary employee. If you worked with me, you know I am always willing to help and proud to do so with a smile on my face as long as my safety is protected. However, today I needed this facility to provide a work reference and they refused to do so... why because the new staffing coordinator felt as if this wasnt part of her job description. All Im going to say is, you never know who maybe your superior one day and the people on the bottom of the ladder may very well be on the top. God doesnt like ugly and luckily her reference didnt mean a damn thing. It just goes to show the lack of quality, compassion and team work that goes on in that establishment. Dignity and respect is not something that can be taught. Its something that comes from within, I feel sorry for all who have to work there and deal with this individual. More importantly the patients.. if they can treat employees/ former employees this way imagine how the morale is lacking as a whole in patient care due to this level of disrespect. Its truly very sad & disheartening.
I am a resident here now and i would like to say that i really appreciate the staff and all they do. They are attentive to all my needs and you can see they really care for each and every individual here. The food is always on time and the rooms, and facility in general, is always very clean! I see myself really progressing and i am doing better every day-mentally and physically. I would really recommend this facility to anyone!!
I am a resident here and I am having an amazing experience here. My concierge always gets me what I want. The care here is excellent and they make sure I am all taken care of. The nurses are constantly coming around and make me laugh and feel good. They give me all the time in the world.
The rehab was great. They make a point of concentrating on all aspects of your rehabilitation. The food was good, they gave you a menu and most of the time you received all you asked for.All the RNs are great they are attentive, caring and the day shift goes the extra mile for you. The NAs leave a lot to be desired. If you dont push they will not stick to bedsheet changes and shower schedules.
When I learnt I needed to go to a skilled facility I was not happy about that. But I have to say everything’s been really great since I got here. It was not what I imagined it would be. Everyone really cares for you here and helps you out . Rehab was great they really know there stuff and helped me walk again
I’m only giving one star because I can’t give less, this place is horrible! You walk in there and you feel like you just walked into a weird horror movie, if you care at all about your family member stay away from there! Please!!! This Place should be shut down!!!! It is very unfortunate that when we need help these are the places that are available. Our health care system is broken in this country!

2022-04-06I was a patient recovering from surgery after having fractured my left femur - the thigh bone. (It’s one of the strongest, biggest bones in the body. I broke mine.). I spent 3 days in hospital and then was taken to Staten Island Care Center. I was immediately impressed by the professional and caring way that the physical and occupational therapists worked with their patients - in particular Dr. Eduard (Ed, Eddie). He had me standing, walking and climbing steps in less than 3 weeks. There seemed to be a sense of community as these professionals worked together. There is a wide variety of equipment in their new gym. . The nurses, aids and other supporting staff worked well together and made me feel comfortable and safe. My needs were met in an expeditious and caring manner. It takes a special kind of person to do this work and do it well. Should I ever need them again, I will choose Staten Island Care Center. Thank you for taking such good care of me. I will come to visit soon.

Just to name a few Mrs Benjamin, Tanya , Britney , Riccardo , Israel and many more. Thank you for everything a very positive experience. And to Stella and the therapy staff who did a wonderful job getting her to walk again.

2022-02-15My mom was at SICC for a little over three months. She was happy with the care she received from the nurses, CNAs, PT OT and SW departments. Everyone was always very friendly and did their best to accommodate. At times this was especially difficult because of the language barrier. The only concern was really about the food. I was especially impressed with the concierge support and services that our family received. We always could count on an immediate response and genuine attempt to address our questions and concerns. I would bring my mom back if she needed rehabilitation. In addition, I would recommend the facilitate to family and friends. Keep up the good work!!!

2022-07-13Wonderful place, clean and attentive…Israel, Francine and Irene really did their best to accommodate whatever needed. The CNA’s were wonderful, Sam, lashonda and Alex really stood out going above and beyond for residents. Kathy in recreation very fair and has done a nice job at keeping patients occupied, and having a very lenient smoking policy. The 1 complaint and its a disaster. The Kitchen… not the culinary program, the options are very solid. But the actual kitchen staff is horrible, they need a lot more training. Luckily I’m younger with the means to order food, but for others who rely on that food for nutrition…it is not good, the staff cooks like they don’t care, hopefully they can get the staff trained right and the food will improve making this facility easily tops on the island

2022-04-08My father was there a few times. I have zero complaints. This review is LONG overdue. He had broken his femur up near his hip and had surgery to repair it and needed physical therapy and rehab to regain use of his leg and return to being as independent as he could be at 86. His PT was a friggin God send. Eddie is and was PHENOMENAL. My father would tell me all about his sessions w/ Eddie and loved the attention and made solid progress w him and he was a great guy to talk with etc. It’s not only moving a person that makes a great PT. The personality and the motivation are key to making it all come together. Everyone at S.I.C.C. was always cheerful and he didn’t want for anything. The place was under construction on the floor adding all sorts of upgrades and it was STILL cleaner than the other homes I had checked out before settling here. My father ended up breaking more things and Eddie and the team at Staten Island Care Center were ready to receive him happily. He got along with everyone there as did I. I was the “cookie guy” and would bring cookies once a week while I still could. Another person that handled dad’s case was a woman named Yelena( I’m sorry if I butchered your name. ). She was also excellent and handled things like a pro even when the world went sideways during the pandemic. Everyone there helped to ease my mind bcuz when I had to leave him at night to return home , I knew he was in good hands. I don’t have a bad thing to say about this place or the people that worked there. Remember , respect works both ways. Treat people that are helping your family like you would want to be treated and the world would be a better place. I’ve since lost my dad in August. He was a warrior and Eddie and the team helped to keep him in fighting shape for way longer than anyone else could have. He had been to other places. I won’t mention names but one sounds like “beggars” and the place was a disaster area. He was there a week and had staph. Pneumonia and was failing very fast. The bed sores he had when he was transferred to the hospital were so extensive that a bunch of docs came in to measure and ask me where he was and how long etc. This was also during the pandemic. Clearly he was completely neglected. He wasn’t allowed a phone. If there were no laws , people would be on milk cartons. We were going to be on the news , that place and I. They didn’t know it but it was in the pipeline. Long story short , you want a place that respects the fact that you’re not putting your loved one in there to forget them like they did in willowbrook state. You are putting them in a place that is going to care for them while you go to work and they rehab them so they can return home to the people that love them. I would recommend Staten Island care center and their staff to anybody I care about. I’m sorry that it took me so long to leave this review. I appreciate you all. And thank you for really giving a damn about my dad. The people that worked closely with him hugged him good bye. It felt like leaving family to him. Thank you.

2022-04-14This place really takes care of its patients. My dad who is 91 years was there and he received the best care. I can’t say enough about this care center. My family wants to take the time to personally acknowledge Ron who showers and got him ready for his dad and always with great conversation and a smile. Also Cheryl the nurse for the floor took such great care of him. His therapists Kristoff and Juben worked with him so wonderful. And last but not least Israel Tennenbaum who made sure my dad received everything he needed. Most of all the whole staff was wonderful…we just want to thank you guys for going over and beyond….The family of Alfonso Scala

2022-03-28Staying here in this place for 3 weeks made me feel I was home. From nursing asst, RNs, LPNs PTs and. OTs, main office ladies and most especially Anna Dugan and Ms Laik they all made my stay so comfortable. I may not mention all your names but God knows and have seen how hard you work and may He blessed you all for that. They even made my bday so memorable. They all helped me build my strength back. Now I’m home, I really will miss them. I’m looking to go back there not as resident but to visit and thank them for their dedications. I will always thank God for all of you. Take care all💕💕😇😇🙏🙏
