Great dentist. Knows whats hes doing, fixes whatever needs fixing in the most efficient and cost-effective way without trying to run up a big bill, takes almost every insurance, comfortable office, friendly and knowledgeable staff, incredibly easy to get an appointment when you need it. Truly excellent practice, highly recommended!
I was a long standing patient for around 5 years, there were a few times I paid out of pocket, if needed. Recently, though, due to a string of rudeness, unprofessionalism and maybe spite, I decided to sever ties.I want to be clear: the dentist is ok. They had some of the worst cleaning Ive ever seen though, which I think is due to it being done by one of the receptionists(maybe also hygienist?) most of the time. I was already seeing and looking into other dentists for that reason when this happened, so it couldve been worse.Anyway, I fell into a high stress, full time job recently, so have had very limited time to get to the dentist. I started to feel the telltale pain of an infection, though, so I decided to make an appointment. I did. When I got there I was told my insurance wasnt active. Even though I paid every month. I realized at first it was my fault. I was using fidelis still when I shouldve been using a dental provider. A lot of things happened at this time, including my house burning down, so I lost a lot of records and documents. I thought I needed to get my dental card replaced, so I did that. I confirmed the plan was active by the provider, so I made another appointment. I call ahead of time by a day to both the provider and the dentist. Provider tells me its active, receptionist (older female, the one that does the cleanings) tells me its not. So she says shell call them in the morning to confirm before my appointment. She calls me in the morning to tell me the insurance company now cannot find me either.. I got annoyed. I call the insurance company and they tell me it was made inactive that morning.. like around when the receptionist called. So that was suspicious to me.I called the insurance company back, and they tell me it was due to an error (even though that error was not present the day before) and that Im reinstated. I even had them send an email to the office letting them know I will be covered soon. I call the office, and I get met by the brainless male receptionist. He tells me the dentist will never accept that letter and that I need to wait until Im reinstated fully. Meaning after the office closes. Because I took this day off, I need to work a FULL 7 DAYS IN A ROW to make up for it. Because of this companys incompetence and spite, I need to work those days in agonizing pain. So, never again. Those idiots let a long standing patient sever ties completely through complete incompetence and unprofessionalism.TL;DRBEWARE THIS DENTIST! THE LAZY RECEPTIONISTS WILL GLADLY RUIN YOUR WEEK OUT OF SPITE!
I was actually recommended to this dentist! Which is why I’m honestly surprised I was treated the way I was treated by “dental hygienist: name : ADA “ .. once we came into the room she didn’t even place me in the chair she told me she was going to give me an X-ray , which I did not want and I simply said “actually I don’t want an X-Ray I would just like the clean up” I’m not to sure why she took it wrong but she said to me “you’re so rude it’s unbelievable.. please get out of the room you can leave to another dentist because I AM A DENTAL HYGIENIST THIS IS MY DENTAL STUDIO PLEASE LEAVE”... and just like that I was kicked out of the room ... of course I couldn’t leave because my sister was actually getting a clean up inside another room, so as I stood in the waiting room waiting for my sister to come out she literally told the receptionist to take me out because she does not want to see my face and she closed the front door behind her WHILE I’m still sitting in the room and as another patient came in .. she DID NOT come to receive the patient ... now there’s a part two. ( I know they’re going to respond to this review because I’m writing everything word for word) once my sister came out of the room and I’m explaining to her what happens the DENTIST from the back actually said to me “we don’t like how you talk you need to leave or get seen somewhere else, you cannot be in here we don’t want to attend you as we said” which is fine don’t get me wrong this is their office, of course I will leave and will not get attended by them because of all of this.. but there is a way to speak to your patients .. actually there’s a simple way to speak to HUMAN BEINGS .. I guess my point is they are not a bad dental office because they know what they are doing and they are skilled but there simple way of speaking to a person is just unbelievable, I literally couldn’t believe I was treated in such a matter. I actually had the receptionist apologizing to me on behalf of their behavior.. Please ada and dentist, try to be more compassionate with your guests and further explain things before you do them.. I was a first time guest who is honestly leaving with one of the worst experiences ever.. like I said this is MY case, who knows if after this they’ll actually be more professional with their people but from my part i DO NOT recommend unless you want to get treated horribly. Thank you for your services. •this is not to ruin business but to further inform the new guests about what happens inside and how they treat people, ada is very sensitive and emotional I couldn’t believe that because I told her I did not want an X-ray she spoke to me and treated me the way she did... later on I was informed they do xrays for first time guests to see what is going on in their mouths which I definitely would have understood if they simply explained to me the situation, instead i was treated like a non-human being. UNBELIEVABLE . If your doctors would like to speak about this you have my contact information. Thank you.
Very rude , never answer the phone , if you looking for a dentist to follow up and not keep switching dentists this is not the place to go to , first day they nice and then they start treating you bad , and canceling appointments and the cleaning is not that great , I do not recommend this place , there plenty of good places in Astoria , save yourself from this place
A1!Summary:Pros: Online intake documents prior to visit (convenient), text appointment confirmations (more convenience!), CLEAN, BRAND NEW office, state of the art equipment, flexible hours, accepts lots of insurance plans, but most importantly...genuine care for patients, and warm, friendly staff who treat you as a person, explain procedures, etc.Cons: NONE (seriously)Details:So Ill start with what I find to be the most important aspect of any medical practice: warm, friendly staff who have a genuine care for the patient, and make the patient feel welcome from start to finish.Dr. Oleg and his team will treat you as a person, not a number or a paycheck, and genuinely administer care with their patients well being as the top priority. You can feel the concern they have for their patients in the warmth of their interactions with you.For example, the receptionist, Christina, was polite and patient when my insurance info changed at the last minute and some clarifying phone calls needed to be made. It was my error, I gave them the wrong insurance info when making the appointment, but she was very understanding of this and quick to remedy the situation. She really was all smiles and took care of everything. The dental assistant, Rebecca, had a warm heart and was very pleasant while taking the x-rays. If you are the type of person that gets nervous at the dentist, or have had poor experiences before (havent we all), a person like Rebecca will put you at ease that youve come to the right place. Warm hearts are rare, and you can feel the difference when youre in the presence of one.The dentist, Dr. Oleg, exceeded my expectations when explaining the condition of my teeth. He slowly explained the condition, the cause, and the treatment options - both preventative (for the future) and immediate (to address the issue). He was remarkably patient when answering my questions. What I liked about him was that I didnt feel like he was trying to sell me something. Some places will do that. Not here. He was just explaining the facts, answering questions, etc. He even explained how my insurance worked and what cost I could expect, all while being very patient.I have to say, the highlight of the experience was the dental hygienist, Aida. She was so gentle with her drills and equipment, yet also very methodical, thorough, and meticulous. I can honestly say that I didnt feel any pain or discomfort, yet the finished product was GREAT. Best cleaning ever =) It might sound strange, but you really do want a place where they are gentle with you and your teeth. Itll keep you coming back.Icing on the cake is the fact that you can fill out intake documents online (Zocdoc). So...if youre busy...you can save time by filling out the documents on your phone, while youre at work, etc. The office will send you a link via text, and it only takes 5-10 minutes. You can also get text confirmations of your appointment the day you make it, and twice the day of....if youre a busy (or forgetful) kind of person, the texts will make sure you remember the appointment. And did I mention the brand new office? Really clean!Bottomline: Great staff! Great place! Come here!
Dr.Oleg Nektalov has a personality of being a friend who wants to do the best for you and does not treat you as an individual who needs to get in and get out. He will take the time to inform you of what the situation is and what options, if any,are available and will let you make a decision . I highly recomend Dr. Oleg to anyone who needs a first rate dentist. All of The staff, including his lovely wife, are very professional and have a genuine care for the patient.Algita
Dr. ROBERT FATAKHOV should just quit his job. The worst dentist Ive even had the misfortune to deal with. This man, along with his whole staff should not be allowed to be around patients, let along practice medicine. Its a shame hes still walking around with a license to practice medicine.Save yourself, and go see someone else.STAY AWAY FOR GODS SAKE!!!

2022-04-13I have been going here since 2016 when I was 22, now 28 and I don’t think I’ve ever met a dentist I appreciate and like as much as Dr. Oleg and his staff. In my personal experience, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen and I once they take me back, I never have to wait inside either. I can always schedule something without a problem, the receptionists are friendly and Dr. Oleg always explains things to me in a friendly manner, never condescending. I don’t know it’s hard finding a good doctor these days so I appreciate all the good I get.

2022-07-26They dont confirm appointments, dont answer the phone, and apparently barely even open the office.Hygienist relies almost exclusively on the ultrasonic scaler, guaranteeing a white-knuckle visit.

2021-01-23I recently called to see Dr. Oleg as he ordered me a custom night guard since I was grinding my teeth a lot. However, he refused to see me because I apparently made a negative review (4 years ago). Anyway I remember in the review I specifically spoke about how awful the cleaning here was by the dental hygienist. The reason he took it so personal is because his wife is the hygienist. I had and still have nothing bad to say about him he was a nice humble dentist and provided me with a lot of info regarding my bruxism but the yearly teeth cleaning my insurance covers is simply not worth using up since the 2x I went there for a cleaning my teeth felt the same exact way as when I walked in. You know when you get a great cleaning and you know when you don’t. In this case I did not. And looking at the reviews since then, its evident that I wasn’t the only one who had this poor experience🤷🏻♀️

2019-07-11One of the best dental offices I’ve been to. Been coming here for over a year, always a great experience. Friendly staff, honest and attentive doctor. Came here originally to get a second opinion when another dentist said I needed a crown and a whole list of other procedures I felt weren’t all that necessary and turns out I was right. Glad I was recommended to see Dr. Nektalov!

2018-09-21This dental office is great! Dr. Oleg was friendly and professional, including the office staff. They all helped me with any questions I had regarding my insurance information and treatment. In the dental room, Dr. Oleg made me feel comfortable and thoroughly explained the procedures I needed. Overall, I had a great experience and will be returning every 6 months for my routine check up and cleanings.

2018-09-20Was fast and easy. Greeted, examined and teeth cleaned in under 30 mins. I have already scheduled a follow-up appt for next week to begin my journey to optimal oral health. He complimented me on my genetically strong set of teeth. He went over costs and how my insurance factored into any forthcoming procedures. He even took the time to calculate deductibles. I dont fell like there will be any surprises, and Im looking forward to my exam and cleaning every six months. His assistant Ada was personable and honest about how things would work and talked about her own dental history
