So hah...well, they can defenatly do better with this park. Is so many rats running around, plus there are homeless bums getting waisted there.. dog park could get a nice clean up, that park stinks a lot now. So hurry guys with clean up 😅. Its defenatly better then before but too many people doing bbq there when you cant do it. I mean, do it but then clean after your self...they dont, is always garbage left everywhere. Football field is nice but when they have big games, they drink, eat and leave garbage after them shelf...what a shame. About people who take care of the park, they do a good job now. Lot of work tho for them to clean up after everyone garbage. Thumbs up for you guys.
What a fantastic view. An oasis in the middle of a fast paces urban enclave. Nice park benches available for people to sit and read, or simply people-watch. Lots of mothers and nannies with strollers walking around. I understand sometimes they have special events. For example, celebrations during Gay pride week, school outings and even movie nights. It is a pity that some people leave pet poop behind.
I bring my niece and nephew here often and they thoroughly enjoy the park! There are a few design choices that make me nervous about the jungle gym for the bigger kids. There is also a climbing portion for the smaller jungle gym where my nephews foot has gotten stuck and cause him to fall with his foot stuck inside.Bathrooms are about what youd expect from a public park. If you have the option, just go home and come back.
This is a nice big park for family fun. I had a Graduation BBQ for my son and we all had a ball. They have a place with monkeybars for the kids, swings, sprinklers to get wet. They also have a workout area, basketball, handball court and a huge field where the play soccer, baseball, football and kickball. They also have a dog park in the park. Lots of fun to be had there so, your whole family will Enjoy themselves.
The field at Sternberg is spacious, there’s almost always a baseball or soccer game going on in the evenings. But it’s big enough that that can be happening and there’s space along the sides of the field for people to do their own workouts. The turf is pretty old and decaying though and it isn’t the cleanest turf, but it’s a big outdoor “field” in the middle of Brooklyn.
If you live in the neighborhood, this is a great place to go. The jungle gym is quite large and there is a separate kiddie gym. There are big kid swings and baby swings. Adjacent there is a basketball area and a workout area. There are two handball courts which people also use for tennis. All of this is next to a gigantic field used for soccer, football, baseball as well as individual work outs. Also a plus, the bathrooms are decent.
Great park for kids to enjoy all ages of children can enjoy themselves sprinklers in the summer time and great nyc parks staff there reccomened also has a feild 2 sided and a dog park,4 basketball courts,2 handball courts and grills to barbeque with staff permission and parties for your children with staffs approval first
A relatively lively place for friendly families in the summer, during the winter it’s deserted and a lot of gangs of teenagers hang out there. I have experience because I was one of the victims. Some students from I.S.318 there ice balls at me and my face was bleeding a little bit, the precinct were informed. One time my cousin got beaten up by a teen who claims he spit on his sister, which he didn’t. He was hostile towards us for no reason and when I tried to defend me cousin he opened up my backpack and threw my pencil case away. We ran away when a mother was yelling at our unknown bully to stop or she’ll call the police. The next day, we walked by and police cars were there. This is a park where I only feel safe if the place is filled with families with kids playing around.
Loved the dog park; not too crowded and very nice. Loved also watching the locals play baseball on summer nights. Stayed in the neighborhood for a week and this spot was very sweet. Doesnt have that very self-conscious modern-Williamsburg feel. Feels like good old Brooklyn.
This park is used for multiple sports and its showed across the field. Turf is coming up across the field which is bad fir softball & Baseball. The lights are not working so night games a hard to play. The bathrooms are always so dirty... Unsupervised kids are always there picking fights.. Beware of this park..
There is a fairly large turf field, accomodating softball, soccer, youth baseball, etc. Parking did not seem to be a problem. There is a public restroom. Park staff was on-site, cleaning. Subway is nearby. Saw neighborhood residents walking, and with dogs. The public restroom is an issue, specifically, the Mens restroom. I was there, yesterday, and there were 4 to 5 vagrants, clearly intoxicated, using the bathroom - for who knows what!!! One drunk was sleeping on a bench, outside. Another was nodding out, squatting against the wall, IN THE BATHROOM!! 2 supermarket wagons, with possessions, and junk, right outside door.
Playground, swing set, dog run are all really great for the area... the one criticism I have about this park is that on weekends a football league uses the astroturf field and the crowd can be rowdy. There are typically fist fights several times in a day among that group.

2021-01-19Decently sized park with two dog runs for big and small dogs. The actual field is under renovation for a year, but there are basketball courts, a squash court, and a playground. Can get crowded in the summer but its usually never busy.

2022-04-09Decent park it has handball court, basketball courts, a workout area, a baseball field, a child playground area and a little water Park section with sprinklers and swings but there is a lot of homeless people all over the park but other than that it is a nice park.

2022-06-07It was the perfect place to visit, avoiding the late night bustle on Broadway while I ate my Double Quarter Pounder in peace and with the luxury of a park bench that not only supported my tired posture, but added an aspect of dignity to the act of engulfing.

2022-01-16Good field for coed soccer. A little sloped but not bad. Better than playing along the water during the winter!

2019-02-14Solid spot to play soccer. A bit distracting trying to focus on the game when theres an incredible view of the East side of the Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn, but its worth it

2021-09-19I gave it one star because most of the park is under reconstruction so most of it is closed off to the public for over a year. The ballfield just had astro turf installed and the rest of the park is under construction including the handball and basketball courts. Only the playground is currently open to the public. In past years it has always been a great park and I expect it to be so again.
