Stew Leonards in other cities:
This was my second time at Stew Leonards. The first time I went on a weekend at around 11 a.m. Do not do that if you can help it. Today I went at 9 a.m. on a weekday and it was a much more pleasant experience. The store layout is a little odd, but it works. I went today to pick up the cake similar to the one that Harry and Meghan are having at their wedding. I picked up other items as well. The one thing I found shocking was that they were charging $12.99/lb for cherries. That seems outrageous. The checkout clerk must have been knew, because she was really very slow, but they did have someone helping her. There is plenty of parking and the staff seems helpful and friendly enough. The food seems fresh and their own branded prepared items are very good, although a bit expensive. Lots of hot foods available in several take away bars near the exit, which is convenient. If you are going in for that, go right instead of left when you walk in the store.
I used to love Stews but their quality has gone down. Even more so, the fact that no one follows mask rules is absolutely disgusting. Last night multiple people walking around with no masks, two workers said it wasn’t their responsibility to tell them to put a mask on and then when I asked security to tell this man who was coughing up a lung by the OPEN PRODUCE he said oh I’ll go say something and never did. You have a sign… FOLLOW IT. You’re store is SO incompetent and gross. I can’t believe I’ve given so much money to this establishment.
I’ve been to a Stew Leonard’s years ago when I was little and remembering it being a cool maze store. I was excited to bring my boyfriend here while we were up in New York. The store is so clean and everything was so fresh!! I love how it has animated farm animals and marvel characters around the store. It’s such a good way to occupy your kids while shopping! Seriously genius! I love this store and I wish there was one in Florida but such a lovely shopping experience! And yes we did pay the extra money to get a Stew Leonard’s bag lol.
Clean, fresh produce and food. This is like the only grocery store my kids dont mind coming to. Might be their fresh donuts sitting literally when you first enter. My family cant resist and they are ALWAYS delicious. Their salads are fantastic as well. The only downside is they are on the pricier side when it comes to your every day items so I wouldnt go here to do my bulk family grocery buy but to pick up sale items or certain items than you are good to go! My new favorite spot!
The Rolls Royce of groceries, expensive and friggin delicious. Crowded like any long island grocery store. Not Stews fault, except for making awesome food. If you want to put your body and your tastebuds at a higher priority than your wallet cmon down. Would absolutely go back.
I have been here a bunch of times since this location opened. I occasionally would go to the one in Yonkers as a kid so this is very nostalgic. I love how everything is locally grown and the bakery items are made fresh each day. The store is pleasant to be in. The entertainment is great for kids and keeps them engaged while you are shopping. My favorite part of all stews is getting a free ice cream every $100 if you have their phone application. Overall, I look forward to going to stews each week. Would highly recommend if you havent been.
Havent been there in a while. As soon as you walk in, you smell popcorn 🍿..yumThe store looks bigger since they seemed to have rearranged things. Seems to have more varieties of prepared foods( shrimp and chicken) Their premade salads are great... always were.Meat departments set up was changed.. looks bigger..more choices. All in all, this is a great store.I just wish their prices were a bit lower. (Especially produce)Id probably frequent the store more
I live in East Williamsburg and there are only 2 markets that I will only shop in and Stew Leonards is one of them out in Farmingdale. The fruits n veggies are fresh n well displayed. Every dept is A+. Use the app to receive rewards. Some items are free with a low amount or others are half price. The desert counter is a great treat. Love there ☕ coffee. Workers are pleasant n helpful.
Best place ever!!!! Everything is fresh and so good. The prices are very reasonable. They have quality and quantity!!!! Highly recommend!!! Also, this was my first time purchasing baked goods and I bought some glazed donuts, omggggggggggggg I wanted to kiss the person who made them! So good!!! 😍🔥😳😳Popcorn is one of my favs too
What a shame...COVID has ruined this store. Just went in today for lunch after several months away from the area and the best part of the store, the buffets and hot food, are gone and only the dry and disgusting food fossils in the deli case remain. This of course was only discovered after walking forever around the byzantine one way aisles just to get to the other end for the store. The fresh food was the best part of this store and now its gone forever. Cant see any reason to return now without that - this was about the only differentiator they had from any other supermarket. Such a disappointment.
I found this market to be immaculate and prestigious, everything was orderly and the service agents were ever so kind and everyone I mean everyone seemed happy to go the extra mile to assist me. My first time I was extremely impressed and I highly recommend this market. Follow Robert Darren Griffin-Bey as I unravel the mysterys of fine FASTFOOD eateries. (By the way we sometimes dine at home:)
Stew Leonards rarely disappoints. Starting with the staff, they are courteous, friendly, and they actually smile.... I know many people dont think its a big thing, but if youre in a hurry or frantic, a nice helping of courteous customer service will always help. They have a great selection of produce, meats, fish, baked goods. The quality is amazing. If im putting something on the smoker, this is where I get it.Their milk is first class.... the apple cider is cloudy not that filtered stuff Motts tries to call cider. We got our fresh turkey at Stews to deep fry... perfect bird. The snowball dinner rolls in the bakery are not to be missed or the high top apple pie!!!
Best organic grass fed beef and meat, they have great prepared foods. I get almost all my dairy here. The people working here are just amazing, you can tell Stew treats them well because theyre always smiling and happy to help.Either spend $100 in one visit OR get the app and track until you spend $100 and go get your free coffee!! (Or ice cream) I love my ritual of shopping and coffee.Edited my review to add the extra star back - theyre constantly rearranging the store and I had taken a star away for one of the re-arranges but they fixed it so back to 5 stars.
I come here because I love their baked goods (e.g. cakes, breads, etc). But I would never shop here for general groceries, unless some in-season items are on sale. Their prices are similar to whole foods, and in some cases (e.g. meat dept, produce, etc) they cost even more than whole foods. Yikes. I prefer Trader Joes, C-Town, etc. Or, maybe Im just poor.
Great supermarket. Selection is more limited than the average grocery store but the products available are all high quality. They roast their own coffees. The bakery department and fresh bread are outstanding. Prepared foods and seafood are better than any other supermarket around, in my opinion.Produce and fruit selection are amazing!Love this place.Prices are very reasonable and the store is immaculate
Always superior quality foods.Meats are excellent, veggies very fresh. The fesh fish is pot luck. If you notice the fishy smell, it means the fish dept manager didnt change the ice bed upon which the fresh fish are resting. As such, one cannot be sure if the fish is contaminated with bacteria or not. After all fresh fish is practically odorless! Days old drippings on the ice bed from what were fresh fish is what creates the smell!I managed a Supermarket with a fresh fish dept for 42 years. I should know!
Extremely fresh from the farm produce. Fantastic sourdough bread made on premises. Meats are prime as the dairy products. Everthing is great here. Its not a one stop shop, its mostly food. There are very few household products. But they do have Dole Whips, which taste exactly like Disney Worlds.
The store is perfectly organized and very clean. They even have little superhero figures doing flips above you and a animated play going on while you shop. Purchased over $600 worth of food and the girl who rang us up had no complaints and was actually very happy to talk to us and crack a few jokes.
This place is awesome, fresh produce, excellent & wide variety of steaks, good cold cuts, quality seafood. I would give this place 5 stars but deli section never use numbers & the steak prices are a bit misleading, you have to buy a whole rack of beef to get advertised sale prices. Still my favorite grocery store. Buffet is amazing!!
I work in Long Island, NY. If you are hungry and want something other than McDonald’s, Taco Bell or Moes, you need to a bit of driving. I really like this location because it isn’t very crowded during lunch time and they have a lot of grab and go options . The food is always fresh and tastes yummy.
Overpriced hype! Years ago I would have given this place 5 stars but my shopping habits and taste buds have changed. Their prepared foods are pretty medicore, the one and only exception is their apple cider donuts! They dont offer organic produce. With what they are charging for non-organic, it seems like a complete rip off. Their coffee bar and soft serve ice cream counter is a nice touch but still overpriced for the quality and quantity.
Very cool store... great sale prices on most goods, food was fresh, meat dept. was amazing, and animated singing farm animals, etc., all around store to keep children occupied! Great layout too... not the usual aisle idea! We really liked it and we will definitely be back!!!
I used to go here as a child in the original store in CT so I will always have fond memories plus the kids enjoy the displays. However the adult in me says their pricing on many items is on the high end of what Im used to. Some of the prepared food looks better than it tastes as well.
A different type of supermarket! Food is very fresh. Excellent meat and fish departments. Kids will enjoy the animated features throughout the store. Mr. Leonard makes a visit to his stores every so often. You must try the ice cream. Really good. Not your typical store layout.
Great selection of everything! Cakes, donuts, breads produce, sauces, pasta, cheese meats, seafood, prepared foods & dips. Not exactly the best prices in town but still fair for the quality of products sold here. Far from the average supermarket. Employees are helpful & polite. Not exactly close to home but would come back to make a purchase again.
Everything very fresh. Produce prices OK, meat prices meh. Most staff are great, but deli people can be inefficient. Bakery spectacular, but prices a bit high. Front end mgr accused me of stealing the reusable bags because they didnt look used, right after county bag law went into effect. I no longer do regular shopping there due to that incident, but will stop in for cheesecake occasionally.
Such a fun store to shop in. The kids love it and the adults too. Such a fun atmosphere. They have a lot of great specialty items and you probably couldnt get everything you need but for meat and produce you cant beat their selection. It may be almost always crowded but its worth the trip.
Great place. The food is great. We love the fish department very tasty products. The bagels are $6.99 a dozen tasty. My daughter loves all the interactive buttons. Try the ice cream its scrumptious. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Go and try things for yourself. You wont be disappointed. A++++++++
I would like to give this Stews a higher rating but I have 3 complaints:1. Outrageous prices2. Seriously lacking organic produce and products (get with the times Stews!)3. Very poor price tagging.. is this a if you have to ask you cant afford it grocery store??I will say that the few organic options they do have are generally fairly priced (oddly enough) and the customer service is good.
Love the fun atmosphere. Great selection of produce, hand made bakery, cheeses, deli, fresh fish market, prepared foods, even sushi! A lil bit of everything under one roof!Fave is the chicken burgers and zucchini spaghetti.Watch your prices though some things are over priced. Coffee bar has really good espresso drinks at reasonable price.Overall LOVE this variety grocery store
Shopping early at this store is great. There are many isles. Its a very colorful and entertaining store for all ages. I purchased 2% milk, cold cuts and fresh fish. They sell hot cooked foods, they prepare right there on their premises. They also have sell ice cream that they make. I can go on and on. I suggest to anyone who is interested just Google them.
I really enjoy shopping here. As you walk in and smell the apple cider donuts baked fresh daily to the hot cooffee and ice cream station... then if course the grocery section. It fun atmosphere for adults and kids. I especially love their lunch selections. Everything is made fresh and is delicious. There is something for everyone. From hot food bars to cold food bars. Asian, indian, American, Italian foods...sandwiches, pizza, wings! All good stuff.. picnic tables inside and outside.
I love this place. It’s clean, great staff and even better food. The buffet is awesome and so is the pizza. You can’t leave the place until you had an ice cream sundae. If only the customers could follow the easily laid out path, that’d be great. It will definitely be one of the places I miss when I leave Long Island.
I love the place and pricing, not so much the corraling of customers like cattle through the store. Weekends just forget it, one person stops and your stuck dead stop with barely any places to get around them due to the layout of the store. Worth it to go there during the week or on off hours, quality of food is great and super fresh!
Had everything we wanted + more.I bought some beautiful Roses for my wife, never seen anything like them before.Good prices, very helpful staff. The decoration is brilliant, even the added twist to old McDonald rhyme had me and my wife in stitches walking around the store.Prices are very competitive.I dont recommend the hero sandwich (chicken parm or eggplant parm, no sauce and not cut).Definitely recommend people to check this place out!I will most definitely be back here for fresh produce.
First time shopper, I was told to go there for their hot food and I was not upset when I first walked in the store. It was clean and neat, the food was hot but it was sitting there for a little while but still very good. I would recommend. This place reminded me of whole foods meets trader Joes meets a country general store. It was neat.
The Stew Leonard’s location at farmingdale is neatly placed. I personally like the way the supermarket is organized especially during this new Covid pandemic. Other superstores struggle to enforce the one-way isle run for each categories or departments but the method they use make it easier. As a store, their prices are competitive on most essentials in terms of groceries but I have found some things to be surprisingly more expensive than others.
Went to the store in farmingdale ny. There were no provisions during the pandemic. The ladies bathroom was the dirtiest I’ve seen in a long time the doors didn’t t lock, no paper towels and everything had to be touched. It was literally disgusting. One would think especially with the prices they charge they would make the customers feel comfortable.
The store is massive!!The selection is massive!!Being inside a Stew Leonards is an experience. Very different than visiting Stop&Shop, Shop Rite, or King Kullen. They have many, many freshly baked items plus things like popcorn and kettle corn being made throughout the day - so the store usually smells incredible. My only complaint is that the aisles are laid out in a way that makes it feel like youre traveling through a maze. No joke. You sort of weave back-and-forth and it can almost be a little claustrophobic at times. But again, the store is huge. The food is fresh. The selection is grand! And the prices are reasonable.
This place doesnt have the biggest selection of groceries, but what it does have, especially in terms of fresh produce, quality meats, and super high quality seafood and fish, Id almost incomparable to any other supermarket on the island. Especially for the price point
Best grocery store eva!! Love the specialty foods.. so much fun to bring kids to.. with all the animated characters.. and the promise of ice cream on the way out if theyre good! Free coffee or oce cream with 100 purchase which is very easy to do. I love this place so much!
Alittle over priced but honestly they’re the best in town! Fresh everything and so many prepared food options that taste so good, it’s hard to go anywhere else! Plus they have great coffee!! Since this quarantine started I’ve been getting coffee from there every morning
Great selection incredible presentation produce, meat and fish fantastic. Anyone complaining about the prices dont go. You get what you pay for. You dont see 3 thick steaks in most supermarkets unless you ask for it. Sure you may pay a little more but not always yesterday I bought a rib steak a little under 3lbs. Beautiful piece of meat for $22.
Ordered catering for Thanksgiving to feed my guys at work. The string beans almondine were rancid. Smelled like fermented trash. The fruit tarlet tasted like vanilla baby food with fresh fruit. The custard was just shy of liquid. The turkey (my colleague ordered that) was dry & tasteless. The turkey gravy bland & tasteless as well. The roasted potatoes were not cooked all the way through.Very disappointed in Stew Leonards. Not what I had come to expect. Will not go back.
Visit this store when Im in the area, which I was for Thanksgiving holiday. Just a quick trip, not enough time to explore the whole store this time. Rushed in and realized Id need a cart. Met a nice young fella working there, asked and he went & brought a Cart right to me. 👍👍. Found milk I went in for and more. Even found early gift for my elderly Father in law. Sherpa/fleece.throw blanket. Love this shop.
This was my first visit here and I was absolutely in love. Everything was stocked and organized despite it being Thanksgiving weekend. It was a great experience to see all the variety of other items and I fully intend to make another trip when its time to food shop again.
After going only once, I brought my husband with me. Gave him advance notice of the atmosphere, which is not like our usual grocery store. He was skeptical, but we ended up buying over $200 worth of food. Enough to feed us for 2 weeks. Every single thing we bought was a rave! The freshest fish, meat, vegetables. Okay, it was hard to get him past the bakery and produce, but by then, he was hooked. We love it!
Was curious about this place when i heard it was opening but now after being twice, I find it fairly underwhelming. There is nothing inherently bad about it, the prepared food options are pretty good but as far as the meats, produce and dairy goes there is nothing special. I dont really see myself going back here and will instead continue to go places like Forest Pork Store, Reinwalds and Makinajian for specific things and Fairway or Trader Joes for the rest.
I really wanted to give this place a 5 a star review but I cannot.Last year I purchased one of their huge apple pies for the 4th of July and man was it delicious and it weighed more that my cat. But the very next day the whole top was a fuzzy mess of mold. Fine. Fresh baked pie. It happens. I get it. This year I bought another one and the next day, mold on top once again. Now on to their meat. I like to smoke me a pork shoulder. This year I bought two, one boneless and one on the bone. I smoked them and had one for home and brought one for the peeps in my office. Luckily this happened to me and no one else but in both cuts, I literally found a clear plastic tube in the meat by chewing it. I have never seen that before and if one of the folks in my office or any of my house guests choked on it, it would have been mortified. The redeeming quality of this place was this year I bought 10 ears of sweet corn and they were incredible.I will stick to my local butcher for meats and not taking my chance on their pies. Not worth the drive for me to deal with the crowds just for corn. Sorry stewy.
Good weekly sales and specials get you in the door. Regular groceries tend to be over priced but go for the specials specifically meat and fish, both are good quality. I bought veal cutlets recently that were on sale and they were excellent, perfectly sliced thin and very tender.
Really awesome place, everything is so looks and smells so fresh and tasty. The robotically animated displays throughout the store makes you feel like your in Epcot. a must have experience for the kids. Sadly I find that they are a bit too expensive to shop at on a regular basis.
GOOD FOR CERTAIN THINGSnot for othersLove their meat and fish. Good selection and service. Lobsters could be smaller as they are more tender... and most people dont have stock pot big enough for 2 to cook at once when they are big.... also hard to serve 4 with just one bigassgood breads - and the buffet ready to eat food is off the hook! they have a taste of anything you are craving.NOT impressed with the vegetables. Herbs... pass. Cheese section is very shallow and not sure it their fault or customers lack of palates...I do give them credit for opening up the meandering shopping maze so you can get what you want without having to go thru the whole store.... that is definitely an improvement when it mad busy.not sure i understand the need for leisure wear and or whatever they try to sell in those cut thruz... but... those were a good buy.
Just went here for the first time. The actual food selection is a little over priced like trader Joes. But the hot food is great! Well worth the trip. Especially with a great selection, from hand made pizza and breads. So the way to sushi and Chinese food. Definitely pleasantly surprised!
I love the hot bar...Wings, soups, Asian food. Its all delicious. They have a kiosk for the deli right as you walk in, abs we love the apple cider donuts. Also if you spend $100 you get a free ice cream cone! And alot of times Ive visited there has been food samples out. Everyone is so friendly! But sometimes if the things you are buying arent on sale, they can be pricey.
Great place with fresh produce, dairy, meats and seafood. Shop the sales and youll do very well! For those that complain about the selections...read about Stew Leonards philosophy. They are not a supermarket that carries tens of thousands of items. They only carry about 2200 items. All fresh and delicious! And you cant beat their rule that is etched in stone by the front door...The customer is always right! They will take anything back if you dont like it. I dont think it can get any better than that. As far as the IKEA like layout, there are plenty of cutouts to sneak off of the trail or to get into a department without going through everything. Just ask one of the friendly employees and they will probably walk you to your destination. Kudos to Stews!
I love Stew Leonards. There are lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. All at very reasonable prices. They is a fresh bakery. You could watch the staff baking the cakes and bread. There is a deli, a fresh seafood counter, fresh meat counter, as well as homemade salads. There is a large counter of hot, prepared foods, which you could either take out or sit at one of the few tables, which are available both inside and outside. There are fresh donuts and hot coffee. There is an ice cream stand. Everything I tried was very good. The staff is very helpful. They get really busy on weekends. At times there are long lines.
Very cool place, granted a little gimmicky, kinda like the ikea of super markets. Everything Ive tried for the most part is very tasty and the atmosphere inside is very cute, the layout can be annoying if you missed something and have to go back, but there are a ton of free samples along the way which make up for it.
Sorry I REALLY wanted to like this place. I was told by someone that they had a great selection of organic produce and food. Not true. They have VERY FEW organic options. Personally thats important to me. If its not important to you then its a pretty regular grocery store, only with singing and dancing milk cartons and cartoons on swings.Sorry Stew Leonards maybe take a note from Fairway. Not too many notes though as they are in hundreds of millions in debt.
I choose items to eat from the salad bar and entrees a few nights a week. The selection is good, but the items that are spicy are too spicy and often despite the time of day the food is dried out. It is very expensive for things to be like that. Also I wish the the metal containers were smaller as they dont fit in the hand carts, so the food is always running together on its side.
I was shopping at their Farmingdale store. I felt very unsafe at their checkout. There was no spacing between customers and no employees to enforce the spacing. Cashier didn’t seem to care. Stew Leonard’s raves about customer service but seems not to care about customer safety.
Grear place to get all your groceries, drinks, salads, hot and cold food, bread, cookies and dessert. Is also a fun and cool place for the kids. It has a farm with a lit cartoons that sing and dance. Great part of all of this is that you can buy organic. It cant get better.
I always enjoy my trips to Stew Leonards. Its almost like a supermarket theme park. Lol!!! Like any other supermarket, there are deals to be had every now and again. However, their offerings of fresh fish and cut to order butcher preparations are always a plus. They also have what youre looking for whether its generic, brand name, organic, farm fresh, locally grown, artisan, or international. If you want it, 9 times out of 10 its there...somewhere.
Honestly what can I say but.. Stew Leonards is the best place to buy food ever.. they have such great integrity. They care about every aspect of good fresh food, the best fruit, bakery, veggies, meats, fish, cheeses etc.. no preservatives, they use small farms that grown non- gmo. High nutrition produce. No preservatives used. Wow this place us nothing short of amazing.. you must check it out.. This is the only place I will food shop.. both trader joes and whole foods sell totally trash compared to Stews.. one word.. integrity, integrity, integrity.. what quality products.. you must try Stew Leonards.
Good selection of fresh produce, meats, fish and prepared foods. Note however that it does have a limited selection of other supermarket categories... oh and unfortunately they carry a brand of tomato sauce which is shockingly branded ...gravy. Perhaps its delicious but I havent worked up the courage to buy it yet.
I live eating ice cream here while watching the planes. They have really good food. They have animatronics there that used to creep me out. I like to get ice cream there and watch the planes at Republic airport. They have a food bar. Almost all of the food there was part of the store brand. They also had a lot of specialty items that they make there. The staff is kind and helpful. The layout of the store is odd. It is in a circle instead of the traditional rows. It really doesn’t make a difference.
Staff is friendly and produce/meat/seafood is always fresh. They have a nice variety of breads and stuff, and a great selection of prepared foods. Animatronic singing animals are pretty creepy and get annoying (feel bad for workers sometimes) and you cant buy the bulk of your groceries here.
Stews is a great place and the customer is king/queen. We live in Nassau County, but have driven to shop Stews for many years in Connecticut and in Yonkers. Their meats are that good. You could go for the outstanding meat alone, but there are many terrific prepared foods, fresh vegetables, a wonderful bakery and excellent dairy products. Samples are common, and have led us to purchase many things we would have ignored otherwise. It is a busy store, so choose your shopping time wisely.
Great supermarket QUINOA bread is great, fresh veggies, amazing fish market, but people who dont live in farmingdale come in the supermarket and start problems and someone stole one of my bags which was my flour.😒😒. which i paid for. and the food section i think they changed chefs. the food used to be way better.
Overpriced.Terrible selection.Meat looks great but tastes like garbage.Fresh bakery section was out of what I wanted. Said they would have more later in the day, but wouldnt make me one while I was there. It was just a fruit tart, nothing that required long baking times.Overall very disappointed. I had high hopes for this place and went back at least five times; I never left satisfied.
I cant say enough great things about this place!! Its addicting! They had a beautiful bakery, fresh popcorn making station, butcher, boars head cold cuts, fresh hot foods buffet stations for takeout, which was delicious not to mention their chilli was awesome! I only wish we had one closer to home, but well worth the trip, I do all my shopping there now, it far surpasses any regular grocery store, well done stew leonards!!
I love this store. You cant beat their meat and seafood specials. They had sea scallops for Mothers day at $8.99 a lb. Huge sea scallops! Fathers day they usually do the Tomahawk Ribeyes. Last year they were $9.99 a lb. At Uncle Giuseppe s they had the same Tomahawk steaks on sale for $19.99 a lb. They also have the best glazed and jelly doughnuts. Stick to the specials. Everything else is expensive.
Dont Take The Kids 😉Actually, Stew Leonards is a kid friendly super market with something for everyone. Enter from one door and proceed through the store IKEA-style.There are produce, meat, fish, deli, pizza and beer stations in mostly static locations throughout the store. Theres also a buffet area where you can choose various hot foods for lunch or dinner. The food selections are above average with prices to match, but there are weekly and 4-day sales that lessen the blow and some items are priced competitively. All in all, Stew Leonards is a delightful experience and I check weekly to see if its worth making the visit.
Cant say enough wonderful things about this place! Everything is amazing. The food, the service, its my happy place. My only complaint if Im forced to make one is that I cant get everything there, still have to visit a regular supermarket to get certain things. But other than that its a dream.Plus ice cream on the way out!
Today I finally gave Stew Leonards a try. Dont know why I waited so long. Its nothing like I expected. I worked for bjs wholesale so I was expecting something similar. Boy was I wrong. They couldnt be anymore different.Stew Leonards has a family atmosphere from the minute you walk in. Its not a kiddie place but its fun and light. It doesnt look like a warehouse with food stacked to the ceiling. The fresh bakery is the first thing I smelled. Fresh glazed donuts! The staff seemed friendly and happy. Working retail is hars. I would know. As I walked over to the muffins and was shocked at muffin tops being sold, I noticed the woman behind smiled. It was as if me being happy or going on about muffins being sold only the top parts genuinely made her happy.I am a seafood gal. The seafood area/section surpassed any expectations I had. They had so many different fresh fish to pick from! The line was steadily growing and hard to avoid.Meats and chicken also surpassed any expectations of mine. The meat department had tons of different cuts to choose from. Everything fresh. The only thing I did notice that turned me off was the use of space. It can get cramped and crowded quick. The layout of the store is set so that you walk through each department before leaving. Comparable to a haunted house. You cant turn back without causing trouble. As I was leaving I noticed they serve ice cream as well! Stew Leonards is nothing like I thought. They brought something completely unique to the island!
Update: Buying less milk and the problem almost went away. The dates are too optimistic so we finish early and all good!Great sales and great quality food and I like that they have their own farms for milk and dairy. They have control over their supplier because it is them!!! Less middlemen means better quality. Need one on south shore!Very happy with most of their selection. The sales on good steaks are great!Other sales mostly are very good.BUT..... for some reason the dates on their milk gallons are not realistic....Love the milk so much we drive 7 miles to get it there. For some reason many many times the milk goes sour long before the expiration date. They need to fix this problem. If it happened once in a while it would be ok..... but it has been happening most of the time!!!Stu Lenords PLEASE fix this problem. We used to get milk from ct. store before farmingdale opened and did not have this issue....ever!!Everythin g else is great. Fix the problem and I will be glad to edit my review to 5 stars but I cant with this big issue. Thx
Great vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, deli. Immaculate store. Friendly employeesMy big complaint... STOP putting so much onion in shrimp and lobster salad. It should be called onion with shrimp salad. Same for the guacamole dip. In this case the customer is not always right. I stopped buying these items and make it like its done in Maine....just lobster, a little mayo, small amount of the lobster liquor.... thats it. You can taste the lobster.Second complaint. There is no scale at the pre-cooked take out food buffet. Nor is there a sign stating prices. I am surprised Suffolk County has not fined Stews for this yet. Complaints by email, in person are ignored. Thus the 3.0.
If you’re looking for a Christmas Tree you must go to Stew Leonard’s in airport plaza . This is our 3rd year going and I have to say our experience is always an amazing one . From the team of people who are always ready to help you to the quality of merchandise. Always top notch. The guys were so helpful trimming the bottom of the tree for us to tying the tree on top of the car . Checking out was easy and quick , Barbara was awesome ,so friendly and helpful . All around another great experience at Stews of Farmingdale .Happy holidays to all 🎄💫
We have always loved Stew Leonards and we are absolutely delighted to see it, finally, on our island. Since we moved here in 1990 we have seen a world of improvement in Long Island grocery stores, and this should be the impetus to even better service. Its fun, the food is first rate - there is nothing here not to enjoy.
Today I went3vto stew leonards to purchase whole lobsters from Maine st 4.99 a pound, bought them home cleaned them and boiled them, they were sweet, fresh and delicious. This store has the freshest of everything, from baked breads, pies and cakes, to meats, fish, poultry, vegetables and fruits, and everything in between. The employees are courteos and helpful, its even nice and spacious enough to take young children.

2020-12-22I fully regret it having taken 31 years of my life to visit this place. This place is lovely, it’s pretty much everything you think you could want in a grocery store and then some. Everything is beautiful, everything smells good, everything smells fresh everything looks damn near perfect. I got my Christmas tree from here not knowing what was ahead of me, after I left the store the tree was no longer the highlight of my trip. Very much looking forward to doing business here in the future.

2022-07-20Today i have experienced an amazing service in the meat department. I was there before closing as they are packing up... so yeah i was that guy. BUT the guy behind the counter was super nice, helped me out even tho they were out of the ribeye and did it with a smile. 10/10 . He deserves to be recognized

2022-07-17It would have been 5 stars, but they no longer have Boars Head cold cuts. They are now pushing their own, lower quality and Thumans. It explains why there was no line at the deli counter

2022-05-281st and last time going to farmingdale store. Cashier was nasty and rude when I brought up price issue along with whoever she called over. Rob manager corrected it after i asked to speak to store manager. But nasty looks continued.Ill stick to east meadow

2020-09-28So I bought the Chicken Parmigiana stuffed loaf, and there was NOTHING “stuffed” about it, it was practically bread through the whole inside. Barely any chicken, sauce or cheese, I had to cut it open and add all the toppings to make it my own.VERY disappointing considering it was $15 forthis thing.

2021-11-25We ordered Thanksgiving dinners from Stew Leonards and are currently sitting in the curbside pickup line for over an hour and a half. The pickup line for both curbside and inside have NOT moved. I have no idea what the issue is, but the same person came out twice asking for our names because apparently our receipt was lost. Everything seems incredibly disorganized. Stew Leonards needs to seriously rethink the system that they use for holiday pick up as people should not be spending hours on Thanksgiving on a line in the cold. People ordered to save time and for convenience and quite honestly, this is serving neither of those purposes. I am incredibly disappointed.

2022-01-21I really like stew Leonards for certain items. Their meat section is phenomenal, especially when there are sales. Their seafood section is extensive as well. Everything is always clean and fresh. They have an extensive bakery and even hot food. The beer selection is also very good. Dont expect to fine bud and Stella. Its definitely on the craft side and alot of local stock.Their produce section is well stocked and fresh but no different variety than youd find anywhere else.Despite the superlatives above, its only 4 stars for a few things. Price wise they are typically a little more expensive. One could argue on quality but to me chicken is chicken and asparagus is asparagus. Also, if Im to do grocery shopping, stews is rarely my one stop shop for all things. For instance they pasta and cereal selections are scant. They have all the essentials sure but if youre looking for sauces, dressing, or sugar, youre going to the supermarket. Especially if youre concerned about price.
