The staff at Stofas has always been dependable, honest, and professional in any service or need I had for my car. When I was ready to sell my 10 year old Nissan and had a dent in the bumper, they said they could hammer it out but it might not look perfect. I would have settled for less but It was a beautiful job. I continually recommend them to all my friends and family.
I have been a customer for 30 years. I have always found Stofas to be very honest, and very professional. Always extremely satisfied with their work. I would recommend them for all your car needs. This includes the repair facility as well as the collision center.
I had my car repaired at Stofas after it was rear-ended.The inside and outside of my 14 year old car was cleaned and the sun damaged exterior plastic parts were greatly improved. They found and fixed some mechanical problems that were not part of the accident. I agreed to pay for the additional work. The charges seemed reasonable.The car looks terrific. The car now drives like new.I was treated like family. If you have to have collision work done, Stofas is a trustworthy place to have your car repaired.
I was referred here by a friend I took my car in today for the first time and they was great 👍🏾 very friendly service was excellent very professional. And the things I wanted done I didn’t even needed done only 2 things that was extremely important to get done. Saved me a lot of money might be a lil pricey but if you want good service that’s what you have to pay 💰 and they are very very good I am extremely happy with the work they did and treated me very good with open arms. For years we have been bringing our cars to Stofas. Have always found them honest & truthful. We have never felt that we were being ripped off. They have always explained what in simple terms what needed to be done. They would even tell you if something could be put off. I just retired not to long ago. They even helped me find a good mechanic in Florida.
They really go the extra mile for customers. I brought the car in for a recurring check engine light, and rather than just pushing me to repair what the code said the problem was, they took the time to get to the bottom of the issue. The repair Ill actually need is expensive, but I have more faith that it will solve the problem.They are also great about keeping track of whats going on with my car, and theyre clear about which things need to be taken care of, in what time frame. The folks at Stofas seem more interested in building long term relationships with customers than with making a quick buck.

I have had my truck into Stofas over the last 3 years for everything from inspections to some fairly major engine repair. They have diagnosed problems quickly and done excellent work. They are very through and they get your vehicle back to you very fast !
Stofas is excellent - trustworthy, and they go the extra mile. Weve been going there for 13 years, and wouldnt go anywhere else. They replaced a broken axle for us. About a year later, the same axle broke again, while we were driving, and we had to get towed. Stofas determined that the axle they installed must have been faulty from the manufacturer e -- and -- with our even asking, they got the manufacturer to reimburse us for the cost of towing, parts, labor to install a new axle. Theyre super helpful, super trustworthy, and they really, really know what theyre doing.
When you take your vehicle in for repairs at Stofas Auto Service, you can feel the professionalism the moment you arrive. I was greeted courteously and was even offered a cup of coffee while I waited for my 7:00 a.m. oil change that I scheduled myself on their web site. How cool is that!? The level of expertise is quite evident as there are more Certification Plaques on the wall than one sees at a picture frame shop. I recommend to everyone to bring your car or truck to Stoffas Auto Center and drive home confidently that your vehicle was repaired correctly and on budget.
I have been to hundreds of auto shops including dealers and find Stofas to be right up there with the best of them.They know their business, very good at diagnosis, honest and the cost is right in line. They will also go out of their way to take care of you quickly.
Im so happy to find Stofas. A friend told me about it a while ago and when I finally got around to using them, I wasnt disappointed. They are professional, nice, and accommodating. I would recommend them to any one. They replaced a headlamp for me on the spot and I was able to get an appointment quickly.
Ive been going to Stofas for years now. Its family run, and the customer service is spot on. The work is always top notch. Everyone communicates.They can coordinate things like dropping off your car after hours, or seeing you in a pinch (I once had the car towed 25 miles just to have Stofas be the one to fix it). Thorough diagnosis and a fair price every time. John and his sons seem to know everyone in Poughkeepsie – by name. You know youre in good hands. Ive used both shops – the one on Hooker and the one on Clinton. Theyre both great.
Ive taken my vehicles to Stofas for roughly the last 10 years. From the customer service, scheduling , knowledge and pricing I cant say enough about their family business. I ve owned two SUVs ( one US and one Euro ) and have had 100% satisfaction regarding my experience. Weve always had good and quick service. The staff is friendly. Theyre good at walking you through the problems and offering solutions. Overall, your car will be taken care of in a timely fashion. Theyre also very helpful with giving estimates.

We have been loyal customers since the 1970s. Stofas takes special care of your car and you. We took our Prius to see if they could service it in 2003, when there were only six cars like it in the Hudson valley. They said yes after looking in amazement under the hood. We will go on line and learn about it. We are still driving it. One time they fixed a huge indentation/scratch so well that you cant tell where it was. They are not just good at what they do, they are honest, nice, and professional.
John and his crew did an excellent job putting my car back together after an accident. They were professional and helped guide me through the insurance process. I also had my car detailed while it was in the shop. My Subaru looked as good as new after exterior and interior detailing. Thank you guys!

We couldnt imagine bringing our cars anywhere else for service. Stofas provides first class service and is always honest with their customers. Thats why their lot is always packed with cars. They wil never run out of work because they have such a loyal following. We trust them implicitly. So glad they have expanded into body work now.
I dont go anywhere else. With the new shop on Clinton near the arterial, they can do body work too, so theres no need. Family owned. Nice people, they always want to help you out. They take the time to explain things. Will let you know about an issue, and tell you how long you have to fix it, no pressure. They dont talk down to you, or try to hustle you. They know my car better than I do, and always take good care of it. The only bummer is theyre closed weekends.

We have been going to Stofa for many years and have never been disappointed by their helpfulness and quality of service. They have given us useful advice and have not hesitated to fit us in at the last minute. We travel a lot and they always make sure our car is ready for the road. I highly recommend these guys; I alway take my cars here first for repairs or new tires. Their work is high quality and quick. If you dont believe me, just look at all the cars outside their shop and youll see how many other people trust them too.If there is any problem with a repair they will correct the problem quickly and without extra charge (unless the correct part costs a bit more.)Their deals on tires are very good and can usually match anything youd get from TireRack.
I always have done my own mechanic work & would NEVER trust anyone to touch my vehicles after so many horrible experiences in the past. I finally gave in when I just didnt have the time & tools to do certain work. I herd by word of mouth about Stofas. 12+ years now I have been bringing them my cars. I have & will continue to recommended Stofas to anyone in need. They always goes above & beyond & always ask me if I would rather do the work than pay him to they even offered to loan me tools to do the work. Finally a service station that looks out for you & not their own wallet.
Always honest. They never try to over-sell work to you.They let you know if you need a lot of work what things should be done first and what can wait.I had an issue that I had to go in twice for, they worked with me and helped me make sure it was done correctly, efficiently, and didnt cost me an arm and a leg!!
Bought 4 General tires. The quote I was given was the amount I had to write on the check that included everything even the tax. I like that. I wasnt pressured into other services I didnt really need as some of the big tire dealers do. People at Stofas are very friendly.
The people who work here are very professional while still keeping a friendly local business atmosphere. The work was done well and I was able to get an estimate on future work that was needed. Pricing is compatible to other local mechanics but the service was beyond expectations. I will be returning without question.

Very expensive. Charged $289 for an air fuel ratio sensor for Camry 2002 and 1.5Hours of Labor. Total $468. They did call after the diagnostic. They are friendly and I just wish their charges can be more affordable.
Stofas solved a complex problem that the dealer could not figure out. My vehicle would not pass NYSI and the dealer was not capable of figuring it out without replacing a lot of expensive parts. It was actually multiple problems, but Stofas figured it out and fixed it. I would have had to pay a LOT more at the dealer or take the car off the road, so I am impressed and happy with what Stofas did for my vehicle.
Every person in that shop is very professional and friendly. They checked my car thorough and gave me a few different options and suggested which way could save money. Happy with their service.

We moved to Poughkeepsie in 1986 and at the time owned an old Volvo that was always needing car care. This is when we discovered Stofa’s, a neighborhood business that was strong on service and willing to get it done right. Over the years we have taken our cars (BMW, Grand Cherokee, and currently Hyundai Santa Fe) to Stofa’s and always received the same, competent service. Stofas Auto Mechanic has never let me down. They are very family oriented and make you feel like part of the family. I have even called on their day off and was told not to worry, they would take care of me, just drop the car off. I even got a ride home one time while they were working on my car. DO NOT GO TO STOFAS! They will rip you off left and right. Fixed multiple issues we had, drove away and found those issues were not fixed. Brought the car back and they charged us again for the repair. Then they decided to fix several other not serious or vital issues WITHOUT calling to notify us or ask us if they should make the repair. They also charged us double then how much it really costs for a part they used for one repair. Over $300 of unnecessary spending later... Never going back again and neither is anyone in our family

2017-06-05This review should have been done last year. Better late than never. Stofas did body work on my car after a kid side swipped me and did some significant mechanical repairs on my 2008 CTS. They have a great staff who are very professional, honest and friendly. Explained everything thoroughly and beat other estimates I received for both body work and engine repairs. I highly recommend Stofas for all your automotive repair needs!

2021-05-10This experience was awesome. I was kept updated in a timely manner. I was assured that everything was going well and according to plan. I actually got my car back four days ahead of schedule and it looked almost brand new. They also clean it so that saved me from having to do it myself. I would definitely recommend this business. Their service was exceptional and they were courteous the entire time.

2021-10-08Incredibly professional and courteous people. Very knowledgeable and honest mechanics at this place. Customer service was beyond exceptional as well as communication. The only downside I would say is that they’re short staffed so work might take some time but it’s quality work you wouldn’t get much elsewhere in dutchess county.

2021-05-18Stofas repaired body damage from a collision. The front bumper came back better than before the damage--and they even buffed out some other scrapes I didnt know were possible. They do amazing work! And the best customer service Ive ever experienced. I felt treated like family.

2020-12-23Stofa’s was terrific. I had recently brought my 2008 Ford Ranger into a Ford dealership for an inspection and an oil change when finished they mentioned that there appeared to be a minuscule leak in the radiator or in the cooling system, however they could not find where the leak was so they just put more antifreeze in and gave me my truck back. After two days of driving the truck I found that it was leaking pretty profusely, (minuscule leak yah) so I brought my truck to Stofa’s and they were able to find the leak almost immediately and it turned out it was in a part of the radiator that could not be repaired so it had to be replaced. these guys are real professionals they know what they’re doing and are reasonably priced. I’m gonna be going there from now on.

I have reference my friends to them and they were extremely please.When my father was alive, Stofas was the only mechanics he trusted. If they said a part was needed, it was needed.They have never done anything on my cars that wasnt required and are cost effective.
