Stop & Shop in other cities:
Very disappointed by Stop and Shop. Their prices are consistently higher across the board than other similar grocery retailers but the biggest disappointment was their dismal excuse for a deli department. We came on a Saturday afternoon to get a few items for dinner, we made the mistake of deciding to use the Cold-Cut Kiosk to order our 1 1/2 pounds of roast beef and 1/2 pound of American cheese. Simply enough, right? Wrong. We placed our order, entered our cell phone number and went to grab a few other things we needed despite all the prices being too high. We returned to the deli section 20 mins later with everything we needed but we still hadnt been called to pick up our cold cuts. The line at the deli was growing and it seemed like they forgot about the kiosk orders and were only serving people who came up and took paper tickets. All told, waited over an hour to get our cold cuts and that includes over a 40 min wait after my phone received a text that my order was ready for pick up. It wasnt ready, nor were about a dozen other kiosk orders ready, even though announcements were being made that these orders were ready for pick up. To make matters worse, there were 2 men left cutting cold cuts after 2 other men walked out from behind the deli counter and never returned. (I guess their shifts were over). Total disregard for the customer is pretty disturbing when it happens in such a supposedly modern and well stocked store. They couldnt put a few more people in the deli dept to take care of orders? Someone in the deli couldnt call the store manager and let them know they need help in the deli? No contingency plan for a busy day? Shame on Stop n Shop, and lose that weird freaky robot thingy that wanders aimlessly through your store. Never again for me
All and all I like shopping here but today was a little ridiculous. Big mouth woman yelling at people for not wearing a mask while half the staff wasn’t wearing one. She didn’t even ask nicely to put a mask on she kept straight up yelling at people to wear a mask. Hypercritical nonsense
I am very disappointed in my experience at this store!!!!!!!! I love Stop &Shop muffins….as I go to Deer Park all the time. I went to this one and bought 2 packs of mixed muffins and ended up paying almost $2 more than the prepackaged box of 4. I queried with 2 supervisor looking people and they told me it is more expensive for the singles because they are FRESHER and because I touched it. So I said I pay extra for touching the muffins and the answer was ‘yes!!!’ They were quite nonchalant about my disappointment and simply said every Stop andShop operates differently. I said I will never come back to this store and they said ‘sorry’. I wish I could give zero stars……poor customer service
This has been our go-to store since we moved to the area a few years ago and have had little to no issues. I love the proximity to Target and allows me to get all my shopping done easily. However recently they have changed the self-checkout area and it seems to be causing issues for both customers and staff. They removed the individual self checkout register lanes with the belts, and exchanged it for a self-checkout similar to Target’s setup with just a small weighted bagging area. It’s also only 4 self checkout registers instead of the 6-8 they had previously. You would think they would be increasing the amount of registers, not eliminating. And if customers are waiting in line now there’s no real place to stand and wait for the small self checkout so everyone just gathers awkwardly in an aisle and takes up room of other customers shopping. This type of self-checkout set up isn’t an issue at a place like Target or CVS where you go in to just buy a few items. This is a grocery store where more often than not you’ll be buying large amounts of groceries! It’s not conducive to have to stack all of your groceries on this small little scale. Previously you could scan and load all your stuff on the belt, and then bag at the end. Now if you try to bag anything to clear up the scale for other items, the register yells at you saying you have to put the items back on the scale and then a store associate has to come over and unfreeze the register. All the other customers trying to check out at the same time as us were having this issue, and the store associate was visibly frustrated with this new set up and constantly explaining the new registers as well. It seems it’s trying to discourage the self-checkout use at all if you have anything over a few items. But it’s not like the self-checkout is explicitly for 15 times or less. There was nothing wrong with the old set up and we greatly prefer self-checkouts to the regular checkout. I know this probably wasn’t the stores choice to change and these types of decisions come from higher up, so I didn’t tank the rating because of that. But it’s really frustrating and seems like the opposite of streamlined. If it’s trying to discourage stealing or missed scans, I don’t see how using Scan-It is any less of a risk of that. But we might have to look into the Scan-It program so I can avoid dealing with this headache every week.
Unfortunately I think I would have to pass on going back to Stop & Shop they only have two cashiers open and the self-checkout is terribly run you have to wait in a long line down the aisle customers can not get their product because theres too many people on the line Ive spoken to a manager told him that its ridiculous that you only have two registers open and Im guessing it fell on deaf ears too bad its sad to see this happen but this is what happens when you try to cut corners and get self-checkouts instead of people working shame on you
Good variety of fruit selection but I didnt find what I was looking for ie Cavendish hash browns. None of the Stop and Shop stores in that vicinity carries it which is a little frustrating. The only Stop I know that carries Cavendish hash browns is Woodmere store on Rockaway boulevard or Oceanside.
I have been using this store since it opened nearly 20 years ago. I like the quality of the products and have generally found the staff helpful and friendly. But I no longer feel safe shopping there. We shop there quite late to avoid crowds and there is always at least one shelf stacker who insists on wearing his mask on his chin,. He rudely defies requests to pull his mask on and has even ignored his managers requests. If the store management had the slightest regard for the health of its customers, its employees and for New York State laws, this guy would have been fired. If they allow this behavior in full view of customers, I shudder to think what goes on where customers cant see. I will never return to a store that has such flagrant disregard for the law and the health and safety of the community.
Good store. Medium sized... not as big as some, like the one on Montauk Rd in Copaigue. Generally clean and well stocked, sometimes a little low or out of advertised sale items by end of sale week Thursdays. If you need to shop using a scooter, its hit or miss... theres usually 1 of the 2 available, but not necessarily charged up. Especially from 5pm until closing. The employees in this store are mostly friendly and helpful though; a big plus. Big shout out the the tall guy who wrangles the shopping carts in the parking lot. He once volunteered to look for and kill a big bug that flew into my car.(He saw me practically jump out of the car and came over). Its my regular, go to store for Stop and Shops.
I went to do my weekly shopping on Saturday 3/20/21 at 5pm. The circular states that they had tbone or porterhouse steak for $5.99 a pound. But of course they were out of stock. Nothing new. This isnt the first or second time Ive been there on the 2nd day of a new sale and they were out of stock!! Well I approached an employee from the meat department. I was told that a man was there earlier and snatched a bunch of steaks and I should be lucky they have any food in the store. Went on about wholesalers not supplying them etc. Honestly not my problem. The fact that they never have sale items at the beginning of the week is one thing. My issue is the way he spoke to me. I myself work in retail and have never nor would I ever speak to a customer that way. I left my shopping cart full of groceries and walked out of the store. I took my business to Shop Rite, down the block. Will never step foot back into that Stop and Shop.
8/11/2021Updated reviewThis is an update on my 5 star review , the low rating this time being no refection on the considerate , ever pleasant kids who usually work the Customer Service desk and other venues here . I only come here once a week , primarily to shop for item priced fruit ( mangoes , grapefruit , bulk oranges ...) and perhaps once or twice a month for frozen . For several years we used North Shore Stop and Shops after hikes ( Target Rock , Sagamore Hill , etc. ) , but having found the kids here incredibly accommodating , started looking forward to a quick stop here ....... Now , I had wondered why the Yelp rating ( I realize that this is Google ) was so mediocre , and why a rather morose , mirthless , sixtyish entity always hovered around the CS window in an apparent management position ( a position invariably held by cheerful young people at most supermarkets ) ; I FOUND OUT LAST NIGHT . I did my usual simple shopping between 8:30 and 8:45 , and the kid at the CS window, someone I didnt recognize , insisted I lay out all my fruit on the counter ( when was the last time they cleaned it ? ) . The rather forlorn sixtyish woman kept clocking me , and when I went to a regular checkout , she consulted with the young cashier about me ( at 66 , Ive better things to do than steal mangoes ! ) . This entity overrode the cashier , insisting I lay the fruit on the conveyor , which I refused to do . She at first insisted that I has 5 grapefruit in the bag I hung in front of her nose , until I twirled it around repeatedly , making it crystal clear that there were only 4 ( Im not kidding , folks ) . Displaying the bag of mangoes was slightly less dramatic ; I assured her I had 7 and not 6 ; that seemed to satisfy her .......... After this grossly insulting behavior , my weekly shopping here will be limited to monthly , and only household items that wont go in my fridg . As to why such a person works the night shift at a supermarket at her age ..... Well , with such personal skills , who else would employ her ? She can now feel important for an evening....................... ORIGINAL 5 STAR REVIEW : This review is long overdue ! The kids who work the checkout registers and the customer service desk are the sweetest , most accommodating , patient crowd in any supermarket I know of . They make it so much easier to take care of the most necessary task....food shopping.... during these stressful times . While there are other supermarkets almost as good , and the place does have its flaws , the pleasant tone here is a notch or three above every other market from Hicksville to Massapequa . Our thanks to the kids here for making life a little easier !..........Location & Hours
They are much better than the Stop N Shop down the road although I still dont really trust their meats. Why cant buy a individual roll during the day? I wasnt dressed to the T the other day and a employee at the register decided to judge me when I asked him to type my card in the computer considering the chip on my card was broken
The last two times I was there, stock was very low throughout the store. They were different days of the week, and different times of day. The self-scan system is a convenience, except when it breaks down in the final aisle of your shopping trip. The store layout is bizarre, all the produce scales are on one side of the department, so you have to walk back and forth if you find what you are looking for. The products arent group together in the aisles in any logical order, which means you end up searching multiple aisles for an item. Yogurt stock was low, as was soy milk and frozen vegetables. The best stocked section of the store appeared to be ice cream. In the bakery, there is a self serve case of muffins clearly labeled, buy 4 and save 4/3.99, and because of the scanner failure, we brought those to the register to be scanner by an employee. They scanned at $5.36--the cashier informed us this had been the case all day. The manager was called over to remove the item from my list, as I refused to provide at that price. When informed that the bakery case indicates a lower price, there was no offer to charge me the lower price, just a shrug.Shrugs seem to be the employee communication of choice, when listening to any complaints or comments by the customer. In the future, Ill avoid this particular store.
Handicapped people dont seem to be welcomed here. 2 electric carts that are never plugged in and getting help to place things up to the check out level is a big no from the cashers. They stand around talking and this includes all the female managers. Bad attitude and high prices.
Bought oranges among other foods a,d when I we,t to eat one it was dried out. I hope the next one I try to eat will be better otherwise back to the store ugh.The c.c. I had just used at another store was being declined. the person who looked like he didnt know what he was doing kept entering as a debit card and not a cc. The manager had to come over to show him how to to use the cc machine.
I stopped shopping here for two years and then when i heard about bew management i returned to give a try. I was very happy to see there were change in the people there. Much friendlier a sense of urgency. I noticed Sabrina your new front end she is fantastic. She was friendly and cared about my concerns about the store before she came. The manager Frank and service manager Nicole is wonderful. Thank you so much im back shopping at Stop and Shop.
Completely ripped off at this store today. Do not go to this store if you have other options; and if you do have to use this store, keep your eyes out for some major red flags. Heres what happened: I went to the check out with groceries that were a little over budget, I was worried about this before reaching the check out but the thing is; it was only a couple of dollars after tax that I thought my modest amount of groceries would be over my price range. What wound up happening though, was the price rang up nearly 25 dollars more than what I took off the shelves, before the cashier was even finished scanning. That was red flag number one. Even if the cashier wasnt applying the sales on the items I brought to be scanned, they did not add up to 104 dollars and change like she claimed.Red flag number two was that the cashier refused to let me completely void this transaction, put some things back on the shelf myself, and come back with my items rearranged when I could think about it. This would have been easy, comfortable for us all, and efficient; she would have had to press very few buttons, and I could just turn the cart around back to the aisles and take my time to figure out what had to go back. For no logical reason, she attempted to make it sound like that would have been a worse idea than what happened, making me sort through my groceries item by item, wasting an awful amount of time as she had to punch in subtractions item by item to find out how much my new total was. Sometimes you just have to ask; why are you trying to make obviously the much easier solution sound like it will be less convenient? The answer came in pretty clearly when I found out how things were being subtracted when I had to leave without some of my items.I had one item that had it been subtracted would have put me less than 3 dollars over budget even when I was using the price on a non-inflated version of the fruit salad that I was going to put back, and assuming everything else I had would remain at the higher-than-marked price. And yet, I had to also put back 4 dollars worth of pickles, a 4 dollar package of cookies, at least 5 dollars of yogurt, and a 2 dollar container of lemonade (all of these prices BEFORE TAX mind you)So if you would care to do the math with me, my original false total was 104 and change. I returned 35 dollars before applying the price that should have come off from the sales tax on these items, and yet, the final total I was rung up at was 71 and change. Only about 33 dollars came off of my price.Red flag number four actually came before that final insult. The cashier was pressuring me about how long it took to fix the price and lied to me about how quickly the right solution to this predicament would have been was also continuously trying to get me to put back an item that was less expensive than my most expensive item as if it was the biggest problem. (probably because the item she was trying to force me into putting back didnt have a sales price, but she could lie to me about why I wasnt getting the sales price on the fruit salad). And on top of all of that, now that I got back and had a chance to count all my items, I dont even have 71 dollars worth of groceries, and I added it up using higher prices than I should have been paying on the stuff too. This store, or maybe just that cashier, is blatantly stealing.Ill give a shortened version if you didnt want to read all that: I was grossly overcharged at this location, and the cashier did her best to distract me from the fact that she was entering higher prices for items than she was removing when I put stuff back on the shelves. Blatant theft, pay attention to the tags on your items and your receipts.
They did not have what I wanted so I just left the store.very disappointed that I had wasted my time driving to the store parking my car and going into.the store only to find out that they didnt have what I wanted to buy so as a result I had to go elsewhere for what I wanted
Normally I would rate this store a 4 or a 5 but today I saw an apparently homeless man, who was sadly very unkept, hanging around the bakery aisle. Then I saw him handling some rolls with his bare hand and returning them to the bin. He put some items in his large knapsak and left the store. I told a girl at customer service that they needed to discard all of the loose rolls and pastries. She did nothing. I then spoke with a manger and told her the same thing, that all those rolls and pastries needed to be discarded. She gave me a lame sorry but did nothing as far as I could tell. I put my pastry back but felt terrible for all the customers who would unknowingly buy from those bins later that day. How awful.
Very rude staff. Whenever I asked a few of the employees where something was they either didnt know where it was or rolled there eyes to tell me. And the younger employees are busy on there cell phones, when I went to check out the young lady told me to hold on because she was sending a text message. Whatever happened to people being kind. Thats why I try to go to family owned markets because they go out of there way to show you were the products are and dont roll there eyes doing it.
I was at the deli today getting some cold cuts and cheese. When the fellow who was cutting the meat moved a dirty trash can closer with his left hand, I asked him to please change his glove to a clean one before handing the meat. He just told me Dont worry about it and then handled the meat from the slicer with that hand! I found it so disgusting that not only would I not take the meat, but I put the cheese he had cut into the self service bin and walked away. Until they fix that practice and always use clean gloves if they touch any type of waste disposal container, I will NEVER get deli meats from there again! At least King Kullen a few miles away does change their gloves and tries very hard to to keep everything clean.
Deli department is horrible, the kiosk is slower than the regular line, there is an employee that hates his job and will talk down to you like its your fault he applied and is the only one he can get, would not go out of his way to answer a basic question like where is the deli pickup location and answers with Im working over here I dont know whats happening at the deli counter mean while 5 seconds ago he was slicing meat lol its a joke stay away go to Walmart up the block all their employees are helpful regardless of where they are stationed or what there job title is.
Lately the guns to shop and bag yourself are always broken and not working. For the last month, the quiche by the deli counter has been expired. I kniw they rearranged the store (which is super annoying cause Ive shopped there for years and cant find anything anymore) but they need to be on top of these things. Also the deli counter computer at the entrance is always down too. Super frustrating!
Really bad experience they make me wait in solution center while I was carrying my baby because they couldnt make the transaction just because They said were to many coupons when it wasnt the first time that I used all of them. They didnt wanted to split the purchase and also they didnt have the respective coupons after purchase finished. If they dont know what to do ask but ask to somebody that really knows because is so stupid talk between them or ask to people that dont know their job, supposed to know how to manage everything and even more in solution center or cashier. Thanks for nothing

2022-02-19There was no way for Brandon in the deli department to know how sad I was going to visit my friend who was very ill when I asked him if he could cut up a rotissere chicken. He not only was willing to do it for me but actually seemed pleased that I asked. I was now able to bring my friend a meal ready for her. I shop at this store at least twice a week and never saw him but may now need to shop on a Saturday afternoon if he will be there offering his fine service.

2022-03-26Of all the supermarkets in the local area, I always find this one to not only have the things Im looking for, but at the fairest price too. Staff is always incredibly nice and helpful whenever Ive needed them to boot. Parking can be a little crazy as it is a popular destination, but there are plenty of spots to choose from.

2022-05-27The Levittown Stop and Shop is a really nice, big, clean well-stocked store. I was able to find most of the specialty items I have not been able to find elsewhere. I was looking for gluten free Canyon Creek bread and gluten free Fusilli and elbow macaroni and they had both. They still didnt have the low sodium gluten free Kikkoman soy sauce nor the Schar gluten free table crackers I have been looking everywhere for. I think thats supply chain issues, but I will keep looking!

2021-11-26I was very lucky that Stop & Shop was open on Thanksgiving Day. I do go to Stop & Shop to shop for my groceries at times but unfortunately it is not the first Supermarket that I choose. But I am very fortunate this day that it was open. Stop and Shop is a very good Supermarket to get what you need the prices are not bad and you can find what you need. I like their deals at times and whats nice is even if you dont purchase the entire deal you still get a discount or a price reduction. I will continue to use Stop & Shop I enjoy shopping there.

2022-06-13They usually have whatever I need. Since Covid, there have only been a couple of items Ive had to go somewhere else to get. Its super convenient because its close to my house and I dont drive. They changed the self checkout register area and its way better. I love my dad but hes not a fan of technology and today when we went, I made him go to the self checkout and he was surprised by how easy it was (I know that probably doesnt sound like a big deal but trust me, weve tried self checkouts at other places and lets just say it didnt go as smoothly). The employees are all super friendly too. Going there for so long, I know so many wonderful people who work there

2022-04-02Fresh fruits and vegetables at their lowest price. If you are looking for meat at reasonable rates, this is the place to get it.
