I didn’t really enjoy the wine flights (which is all I tried..I didn’t try anything else maybe next time). To me they all were SOMEWHAT similar even with the different notes and flavors. There wasn’t a lot of interaction with the staff as it was just to go and we could sit outside and the wine flights are prepackaged in small containers to pour into a small (cute) wine glass you keep. What made this experience better was the food truck they had there for the day! It was delicious! They also have a really nice green space. Maybe I’ll come back to try again.
Friendly, Happy and Inviting! Never been a fan of NY wines, but there are a few we recommend to try. Keep it to the light side, if you know what we mean.. As for the Spirits, that’s another story. True purveyors of the kiln. Harkens back to the days of a gentleman’s moonshine. Highly recommend a try!
This is primarily a distillery not a winery, although both are avail for tasting and purchase. Stoutridge does a great job maintaining covid precautions. Although I did not make a purchase after tasting (I always will purchase at least one bottle) I had a great experience here. 4/5 stars due to cleanliness. Indoor room could use a good vacuum and bathrooms were dirty.
We were so excited to experience this place, having done tastings throughout the world. However, it was sadly disappointing. The grounds, with their ponds and water ways are beautiful. We had a nice picnick under a shad tree near one of the ponds (lots of geese)The wine and spirits were mostly unpalatable.
Ive been visiting Stephen for the past few months and we have been exploring Absinthes. Stoutridge is an outstanding place to visit, historic property, local made products, super friendly and small staff that takes great care of anyone visiting. A must for anyone in the area! Their products are amazing, from the wines and spirits right to the pastis and absinthe!!!
Unfortunately we really did not enjoy this winery. We didn’t enjoy any of the five wines and the experience inside to get our tasting was very disorganized and there didn’t seem to be a cohesive system. We didn’t know what wines we were getting, they were preassigned with no information before paying.. We didn’t know they were unfiltered wines until we had already paid and made it through the entire tasting. Better signage and explanation beforehand would make a difference, either way it was the worst wine I’ve ever had. The spirits had better reviews, but we did not try those. On the bright side, the view of the pond with the weeping willows was beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful property, but definitely the worst wine Ive ever had with the smallest tastings and most ridiculous prices. I may consider returning just to hang out outside and try some of their gins if they turned that around, being more generous with their products for a better cost (like every winery Ive been to). Living in Norcal, at least their expensive tastings were very much worth it, but the little guys in the hills always let you taste fantastic wines on the house if you bought a bottle. At any rate, I enjoyed their single malt whiskey, but again, small pours in plastic microcups for a lot of money, and definitely not expertly made.
We stopped here while we were driving by without looking at any reviews. Wish we had, because then we would have known to skip the wines and maybe try the liquor. Warning: this place does unfiltered wine. If that’s your thing, you might like this, but our whole group of 4 really hated it. I’ve had organic/sulfate-free wine before and hated that, so now I know that’s something to avoid. This was vinegary, acidic and very hard to drink. We were just glad we didn’t purchase a bottle, though we regretted even spending $15 a piece on tastings!
Very good wine and liquor to sample. The woman working behind the counter today was extremly professional with a difficult customer that was being very rude to her unnecessarily over a misunderstanding. Such patience and such a good attitude when me and my party bought a bottle right after the interaction. Very good experience I highly reccomend if your in the area it is a must try distillery/vinyard.
Great experience touring here. The grounds are beautiful, and the winery building itself is beautiful as well. The owners were extremely knowledgeable and passionate and took time to explain how the wines are made, why theyre made the way they are, and other interesting information. The wines are made differently, and the uniqueness of the process shows in the taste, which I promptly fell in love with. They make their wines without chemical alteration, opting instead to leave them natural. Since the wine we are used to buying has additives and such so that it can travel better and remain fresh, the taste is quite different from what youd expect (and in my opinion, much better). Ill definitely be back to buy more and enjoy the winery.
Our tasting was fun, informative and wide ranging; as others have said Stephen is indeed passionate and it comes thru; we were happy to send as much 1:1 time with him and while some other review commented they felt rushed, there was nothing of the kind with our tasting. Yes, the wines are or taste different, but that is neither good or bad, and Stephen explained at great length why a different process yields a different end product - we purchased some to take with us, and will visit again.
What an enlightening, eye-opener experience! The owner Steven is a biochemist by education and training, holding several masters in his trade. He is so knowledgeable you can spend hours and hours talking about wine and distillates and walk out with a smile on your face realizing all you have learned in such a short time. A true artisan and connoisseur. His staff as well are all friendly and engaging. Superb wine and whiskey from passionate, smart, very cool people. Thank you for such an enjoyable visit! I will definitely be back!
AMAZING! If you have an opportunity to visit this vineyard, I highly recommend it. My husband and I have visited many vineyards/wineries and stopped at Stoutridge while staying at a B&B in Salisbury Mills, NY. The vineyard is owned by a husband and wife. Theyre both biochemists and dont have any other workers at the vineyard. The wine is pure and organic. My husband and I feel were pretty knowledgeable about wine, but this tasting blew our minds! It was more of an experience than a tasting. We learned that many of the wines we buy in the stores are just as chemically processed as the food we eat. Chemicals and sweeteners are added. The wine at Stoutridge tasted unlike any other wines Ive ever had. A Merlot, which is normally dry and oaky, was light and smooth, yet robust. The owner kept comparing wine to artists paintings, and it was such an educations experience. The wine is more expensive due to the owners doing all of the work themselves at the vineyard, but I promise you, theyre totally worth it!
Firstly the grounds are beautiful, even in the bareness of the winter - which starts with a wow factor. Then the owners are clearly passionate about being one of the only wineries and distilleries to bit pump their beverages full of chemicals. Were doing the wreath fineries tour and this is the 9th stop and one of the only spots that I made a purchase - both spirits and wine.
Steve has ruined wine for me--because the wine here is so good. You should go here last if youre on a wine tour or wines the rest of the day will pale in comparison. Hes a passionate chemist and an excellent educator. You can tell this is the love of his life. Definitely go here. Its so good.
Walked into the tasting room where we were completely ignored even though there was only 1 other couple there. Awkward. The employee finally spoke to us suggesting we take a self guided tour until he starts another tasting in a few minutes. Really just wanted to taste their wines, not walk around an empty poorly lit room by ourselves. Ive been to many wineries and most at least say hello when you walk in. Place felt cold and awkward. Will never go back.
Honestly the worst winery experience of my life. The girl who was pouring our wines knew literally nothing about wine (she even said that she knows nothing about wine). I work at a winery, so I know a thing or two. Four mediocre wines (that we didn’t even get to choose) for $10 each. Complete rip off. Don’t go here.

2022-02-20Came for a wine & spirits tasting for 2. The wine was fruity, delicious, and interesting since we hadn’t tried natural wines before. The staff/owners went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful; the nicest people we met on our whole trip :)

2021-08-30Beautiful vineyard, lovely grounds with pond, waterfall & picnic tables. Impressive selection of wine & spirits all produced on site. We did the wine tasting, I enjoyed the dryer reds but they also make a nice Reisiling. Lovely place to spend a few hours to sit & sip.

2022-06-27Absolutely beautiful property. We had a very nice picnic by the pond. We only tasted wines which are naturally produced, no sulfites and good.

2021-07-25This was our second time here and it was really disappointing compared to the last. Staff was not friendly, tried to make small talk and the cashier cut me off while talking. Seemed annoyed when we arrived… The tastings were $20 and 1/2 of them were in the bottom of the box. No need for the to go boxes/containers because they aren’t efficient nor needed with covid being more under control. The wine spills EVERYWHERE. Also it came with extremely stale crackers which grossed me out because they have to be super old. Won’t be back here which is a bummer because the first time was so pleasant. I’d like to add that many reviews mention the same thing and I’m thinking this winery needs an update staffwise or owner wise… Listen to your customers because we help fund you.

2021-07-20One of the most unique winery experiences Ive had! The wine is unlike anywhere else... ask Steve for a rundown and your mind will be blown! Cant wait to go back so I can try their spirits, too!

2021-08-24BEAUTIFUL setting....the wines are, for lack of a better term, ordinary. I do admire how they are handling the Covid-19 situation. If you are there for a tasting, youll get a cute little white box with 5 prepackaged little wines that are numbered and you choose one of an assortment of snacks. Complimentary wine glass is included. Reservations required. My guess is that they are more renowned for their spirits, rather than the wines they offer.

2020-10-13It’s a beautiful place for where it is located. Online it says reservations are required but you don’t really need them. They give you a box that comes with a snack of your choice and a survivor wine glass & it’s pre-filled with about 5 samples of wine. Personally we didn’t enjoy the experience. We understand with covid things are different but the website made it seem so much more than it really was. The wines we tasted just kepted getting worse with each one we took. The greeting when arriving wasn’t the greatest either. Our experience overall wasn’t well and we’ve been to a few winery’s during covid.

2017-08-25Unique selection of wine. The owner is very passionate about his wine making. He does not use any chemicals or additives that are found in most wines. His aging process takes years and his wine can only be purchased here. If you are interested in the science and history of wine making, this is the place for you. The landscape surrounding the historic building is also beautiful.

2021-10-11In short, the wine I bought (in Sept 2021) , a 2011 Rose, was terrible. One sip when I tried it at home and the whole bottle went down the drain. Being a wine professional, I suspected as much (because of its age and cloudy appearance) but I gave the winery the benefit of a doubt and bought it anyway. Not one of the many other wines they had for sale was from a vintage later than 2012. That is kind of a red flag 🚩 to me. Perhaps they gave up making wine years ago and were just selling out old inventory ( just a guess on my part). I was told, by the (uninspiring) sales lady, that they only did tastings, at their winery, if you bought a whole bottle - certainly not what you encounter at most quality wineries. Yes, the grounds were lovely and perhaps the many different and unique spirits they have are their best offering. But, Caveat Emptor.

2020-11-06Came to this winery as a surprise treat from my hubby for our anniversary.Of course we know things are different and we try to stay as safe as possible and Stoutridge made this possible.Steve did a BOMB job on his educational wine tasting. We really felt like we left with more than a bottle of wine and great flavors. The experience was truly enriching and pretty cool to know more about this winery. This guy is a genius of a chemist and does it ALL.All wines are unaltered and as raw as it gets. Pretty cool and you can only buy these HERE. Even more exclusive. My favorite part is being able to do the tasting with open ventilation and with a proper social distance. Also the best part is the outside area with a beautiful little lake and gorgeous views. There are picnic tables and plenty of green grass where you can pack a picnic and have a little picnic date. Truly such an amazing and relaxing day out here. It’s even cooler to know that these guys also offer their distillery menu and tastings as well. Something cool to come back to next time! If you’re in Marlboro make sure to get over here. Support locals. Support the grapes.
