Great Service, pleasant and prompt. Food was good, I really liked the sides. I ordered the Mac and cheese and the roasted potatoes. My steak was pretty good. Medium is medium here. Their drinks needed to be bigger and stronger for the prices they charge. And they Do charge. Not an impulse location. And its designed for an older time.
A classic New York steak restaurant. I had the dry aged New York strip. It was cooked perfectly and very delicious. I added a wedge salad which was great. The creamed spinach was not my favorite, but I tend to like a plain butter, flour, and cream concoction. This had black truffle and a slightly slimy (for lack of a better word) texture. Will in all my experience was wonderful. Waiter Keith was very helpful and friendly.
My husband and I honestly took over a month to decide which restaurant did we want to go for my birthday dinner and between Resy where I had Global Dining Access as an American Express Platinum card holder and Open Table, I initially had my priority notify set for certain restaurants (Cote for example!) but just couldnt get in. Hence this was our runner up decision and we had my birthday dinner here last Saturday the 23rd at 9:30 PM.Now its important to actually note and fill in that special request if youre celebrating a special occasion so we did put birthday and did request for a great table. Id say this was where the experience really fell through. Whoever chose and seated us must be power tripping because they placed us literally by the table where all the servers comes out with food and drinks and where people would head off to for the rest room. Not even a nice booth like our proper steakhouse experiences in Vegas. My husband and I were seated across each other, super close to the other table where we could hear everything that theyre talking about despite the music. My husbands back was literally touched upon more than 50 times. Very annoying. Weve never had this experience in any restaurant. You would think on a special occasion request, they would note, choose a nice spot and sit us properly but I guess they dont even care and read special requests. Very sad.I personally feel that this is 3-3.5 rating because of the overall dismal experience with the seating. The redeeming factor really was the food (except for the crab cake) and the service from Amanda who was really wonderful to us despite eventually attending to a massive group later that night. The crab cake was flat and almost bland (unsure if we got a bad one), we each both got the dry aged rib eye at $63 each (medium and medium rare, the former cooked medium rare and the latter was done correctly) and thought wed try the black truffle spinach (good and really rich) and the mac and cheese (one of the better ones weve tried). Had 2 glasses of Moet champagne and a Cab Sauv for my husband. Then we ordered the 24 layer chocolate cake for a birthday cake picture but we took it home due to the fact that we were quite full. I wasnt even able to finish my steak. Note that there wasnt anything complimentary birthday anything offered here.I really wish I could say it was the very best birthday dinner. I certainly hoped and was so looking forward to it. But whoever is in charge of customer experience, either fell short or just didnt pay enough attention. We love fine dining and dont mind paying serious cash if its absolutely worth it and were spoiled with the plethora of restaurant options living here. After paying $330+ $20% tip after, unsure if well come back. I seriously wish it was better.
Transcendent porterhouse for two cooked to perfection. Served with the most carefully roasted garlic Ive ever experienced. No sauce needed! The duck potatoes and creamy spinach was just enough portion wise. Not the biggest fan of the TV but they happily moved us to a quieter spot in the restaurant.
The best NYC steak house I have been to for the quality of the food. Excellent steak, surprisingly affordable, top quality service. Loose definition of business casual so dont worry about changing your clothes. One star deduction because all servers were white men while all support staff who dont get tips were people of color. ALL of them. It was extremely uncomfortable because it gave off mid-2000 Abercrombie vibes--it speaks to a management choice about who gets to work the floor vs who does the invisible work.
While youre sitting inside the Strip House you feel like you have stepped back in time. Old photographs line the walls. The service is pleasant and aggressive to meet your needs. All steaks we cooked to our preference and tender. Locals know that space can feel small when crowded, however thats part of the experience. Highly recommend for style and taste.
Not the same strip house of old. The Asian influence on the bacon doesnt really work for me. You cant taste the goose fat in the potatoes nor the truffles in the cream spinach. No nuttiness on the dry aged strip either. I admire their longevity but its fallen some notches with me.
I took my boyfriend here for his 30th and i’m so happy i did. the service is impeccable, the food was delicious, cocktails were freakin fabulous and the atmosphere was great (and safe with social distancing & masks). i made a reservation on opentable and they gave us the best table in the house (in my opinion), the back left booth. The staff that came over to the table throughout the night wished him a happy birthday and made the night really special. I ordered the black truffle blue cheese martini (hand stuffed black truffle & blue cheese olives are my new favorite thing), and my boyfriend ordered their barrel aged old fashioned. For appetizers we ordered the tuna tartare & jumbo lump crab cake. For the main we ordered the porterhouse for two, a side of their chimichurri sauce (even though the steak was perfect without it), black truffle creamed spinach, and mac & cheese. For dessert they brought out a 24 layer chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream with a nice candle and beautiful display that read “happy birthday”. i recommend this to anyone that’s looking for a great steakhouse in the city or just some great cocktails with a nice atmosphere.
This place is exactly what I call an excellent steak house for its price. Places that are $$ usually have a lowered quality meat that is very noticeable. And $$$$ are too expensive for most standered patrons. A place like this is at the top bell curve of all $$$ steak house in NYC. Great service, great atmosphere.
The place has an old school flare about it (Red walls and lots of pictures). They were playing 90s music which took me back. The service is excellent. The managers checked on us three times and my date and I felt very welcomed. You will spend money here. My meal was $300 for an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. The food was pretty good. If you order the filet mignon, it will take 40 minutes to cook unless butterflied(Opened up:20 minutes).
I told a friend I was going to the Strip House and she said really whos getting married? I was like what? You said strip house? Uh, its a steak house .... I think some how they like that moniker. The classy but subdue interior was a pleasant experience. Seating was comfortable surrounded by photographs of famous stars all staring at you while you eat.Our friendly server was casual and prompt. He introduce himself and got our drinks. He gave us a long list of specials but the only one that stuck was the lobster Mac & Cheese.I went with the NY strip as my friends went with the filet and rib eye. The meat came simply presented on a plate. The meat after all was the star. It had a wonderful char but perfectly cooked as ordered (mine was medium). The meat didnt even need the steak sauce. We got the crab cake to stare and a side of bake potato, fries and lobster Mac & Cheese. The baked potato came with the usual mixing and chopped bacon bits. Cake was equally enjoyable start. The fries were nice and crispy with a hint of salt and side of ketchup. Unlike fries the lobster Mac & Cheese was disappointment. It was more of a soupy goop and overly salty. One try and the rest was left on the table as the horrible (expensive) step child of the other sides. We decided to try the 24 layer chocolate cake which delivered. The decadent dense chocolate cake was delicious way to cap off the caloric meal but all so worth it. It has to be worth the calories.Id say the Strip House certainly delivered on the steak. The meat was juicy, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Even the appetizers were enjoyable while the sides was a hit or miss in my book. You cant really go wrong with a baked potato or fries, all steakhouse staples but beware of the specials.
Had a nice meal here! My dining partner and I split a shrimp cocktail, a salmon tartare, and a dry aged ribeye steak. Everything was wonderful and perfectly cooked! I was a little turned off by the sales pitches throughout the night - I felt a little pressured over what to order, and I really disliked the sales pitch about their credit card when the bill came. Oh, I ordered an espresso con panna (whipped cream), which ended up being just espresso with a little jug of cream!? Odd... still good though. Id consider coming back with a larger party to try one of their larger steaks.
I didnt even get pictures of the food that do it justice, but I literally had the BEST BURGER OF MY LIFE HERE. very good would totally recommend, great service as well. Small place, and a quiet atmosphere. I would also recommend going earlier because you can basically have the whole place to yourself before the big dinner crowd.
Had their sea scallops, tomahawk steak, brussel sprouts side and sorbet for dessert. Their tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection but their exterior seasoning was a bit too much. Their brussel sprouts were good but would have tasted better if it was more savory instead of sweet and saucy. The menu stated roasted brussel sprouts but it doesnt look roasted at all... the service was great though and the interior design created a nice atmosphere. The searee sea scallops as appetizer was a pretty good choice - came in two big pieces and was savory with each bite I took.
Best steak youll have in town. Great service and delicious food. The maple bacon dish side is so good and a must, as well as the new mashed potatoes. Gotta plan on spending some $$$ , suggest you to check prices before going there. But again, well worth it! Exquisite food and you pay for what you get.
Definitely one of the best steak restaurants in Manhattan! The food was immaculate - masterfully cooked steak; fresh produce; and tasty dessert. To start we shared the pear and kale salad - a great combination of flavors. For main I had the Dry-Aged Ribeye while sharing the broccoli, purée potatoes, and mushrooms. For dessert we shared the cheesecake. Strip House is a place to impress. Whether you are showing people around from out of town or are on a date - this is the place to go! Be sure to bring the platinum card - you will spend at least $100-150 per person.
Reserved a day before. Ate here 3 times beforehand. Last 2 times, didnt care for the specials, went straight for the bone in ribeye and porterhouse and it was on point. Spinach, Fried and mashed potatoes were also good. Paired them with their house made old fashions. Everything was great. 5 stars.Brought my cousin here for some good ol eat and chat. We ordered to following:Bacon: Luger comparable. Cut in half, 4 pieces altogether. Fatter, juicier and definitely more flavor than the Luger. I wish I didnt have to compare, but thats the staple.Tomahawk rib eye: ordered medium. Served medium rare with 3 pieces rare. If I was with medium rare people, it wouldve been perfect. 3 pieces of medium for me and 5 pieces of medium rare for them. Overall, Steak lacked a bit of salt but was still good.Spinach and baked potato: what can I say? Everyone perfected it. It was good here too.Overall, the cook shouldve left the steak in for a couple more minutes. But it was a satisfying meal. Altogether.. I would still come back
They walked by me for several minutes before the nice waiter finally greeted me. Was about to walk out and spend my money elsewhere but he was so warm and welcoming. The lady who seemed to be in charge treated me as if I was going to dine and dash. Wouldn’t let me sit outside with all the other guests so I sat inside (I had left my wallet at home and was awaiting my boyfriend to come with it) (all the non POC were treated way better) As a woman of color I’m sad to say I’m used to this type of treatment, today I simply wanted to spend some money on myself at an expensive restaurant after getting a good bonus payment. Could have done without the profiling that seemed awfully racially motivated.Side note: I love how they play all black artist music but have barely a drop of color in their staff or customer base ... _^@^_/Edit2: I found myself narrating my moves because I realized the last was watching me while I was enjoying my catch of the day. My boyfriend finally arrived outside so I asked the waiter if I could go get my wallet(assuring him I’d be back by leaving my phone, jacket, and expensive headphones on the table) he seemed to not be worried but as soon as I came back in with my wallet the lady popped out of nowhere to “take my payment”. She had no indication that I was done or anything. I also noticed that there were cops outside (to which my boyfriend said one of the wait staff was pointing indoors to indicate someone). I may be paranoid but they didn’t order Or pickup any food and I was the only guest indoors at the time. I gave the lady my debit card and immediately left. They were ridiculously expensive, the steak was sub par in flavor and not cooked as requested. $55 (Asked for medium rare, it was simply pink which led to my boyfriend feeling sick after eating it.) my catch of the day was absolutely amazing but realistically not worth $42. My overall bill with tip came out to $179. I’m happy I treated myself but am likely not to do it there again
They are blaming the pandemic for sub par service and lack of staff.Covid-19 protocols at the entrance by Maitre and hostess. One waiter for the entire room. 5 busboy to fulfill void in service. We will hope they regain their reputation and quality of service.Thankfully the appetizers, entrees and sides were tasty and flavorful. My bone-in ribeye had more grisle that my knife, thank goodness, was sharp enough to trim.
This steak restaurant is as great as people say it is. Ordered the NY strip with the burnt peppercorn. The cook was perfect, it was exactly what I ordered. For side dishes I would highly recommend the crisp goose fried potatoes and for desert you have to try the famous 24 layer chocolate cake.
After Sparks decided to close due to Omicron, I decided to go to our old reliable, Strip House. Hadnt been in a while, and the food was delicious. They were understaffed so checking in was a bit of a nightmare, but the staff was doing their best to accommodate everyone nonetheless. The poor hostess was doubling as coat check! Our server Jason was great. We split a wedge salad which was very tasty and then had porterhouse for 2 with sides of mushrooms and Kung Pao cauliflower. Everything tasted entirely delicious. The only criticism I have was that the house Martini was $26, so one each was practically half the price of the steak. But otherwise, everything was very nice and we really enjoyed our food. Ive come to realize that limiting the bread and skipping potatoes and heavy sides with carbs allows for more enjoyment of the steak.
I and a friend had lunch on Christmas Day and the experience could not have been more memorable. I had the dry aged ribeye and he had the filet mignon. Their charred , salt and pepper crust added just right flavor while the meat melted in your mouth. Make sure to request the bernaise sauce!
Came here a few weeks ago and had an interesting experience. A few quick things. The décor was kind of old school - lots of wood and leather. The decision was a wall to wall play on its name making you wonder if this was originally located in Times Square. And red. Lots of red. As in red light district or Chinese New Year. The service was terrific - the waiter, John, was attentive, informed, and engaging. The drinks were very good and you could tell (partly from these prices) that they werent going to be your grandmas old fashioned. Except it kind of was, but with a very modern focus on craftsmanship. My self-designated whiskey expert friend claimed this was the best one hes ever had! My sangria (I know, why at a steak house?) was pretty delicious given some of their enhancements. Before we ordered, we were served a complimentary amuse-bouche of a cold pea soup shot. It was really good and so our hopes were high for the rest of our meal. We shared the PH for 2 with a side of goose fat fried potatoes (because any amount of research will tell you that this is required here). Steak for two is tough if you dont share the same doneness preference. Buddy likes medium rare where Im a medium erred on the side of medium well (sorry, I also ordered sangria remember?) We split the difference and ordered medium. What we got was more medium rare Id say. Plus, the steak was surprisingly gristly. The potatoes were good but I must be getting old since consuming all that fat was becoming challenging. We passed on dessert but they knew from the reservation it was my birthday so they brought out a plate with a candle on it. Strange but appreciated. Then came the bill. My buddy was studying it far longer than normal. Turns out there was a service charge on it, but not 15%. Strange since it was just the two of us. When we asked our waiter, he brought the manager out. She basically explained that a) the restaurant is party of the Landry group and b) since back of the house kitchen workers didnt share the tips, this was a way to pay them more without raising food prices. Evidently corporate had just rolled this out and the manager herself had recently learned about this tactic. Given that it wasnt mentioned anywhere or by anyone, she understood our issue with it and was apologetic and happy to adjust our bill accordingly. This is a bad idea and rolled out wrong (travel ban, anyone?) My friend would come back just for the drinks. I think Im pretty much done.
I waited half an hour at the restaurant to pick up an online order placed a day in advance. Staff could not have cared less. If you’re not going to be able to honor your pick-up times, then don’t offer them or don’t take online orders. They did offer a free piece of cake, thanks but for nearly $300 on dinner I expect better. We’ve eaten here in person pre-Covid many times but I won’t be back.
Good experience... definitely can find an equivalent or better steak for less in NYC. If youre visiting NYC this is a five star experience. If you work at Skadden and your commute starts or ends at the W30th St. Helipad... Not even your assistants assistant will read this.
Great ambience in this small restaurant down the steps with steaks to die for. Great service, always great food and some great cocktails too. The desserts are extra special too with a many layered cake and a cheesecake that was so large, it took 3 of us to eat it. Highly recommended.
This is a truly iconic New York City steak house. I’ve been here a number of times in recent years, and I really love the decor, the food and service in this particular location. I probably wouldn’t recommend to go there on a Friday or Saturday night unless you really have to. They tend to overbook the place on those nights which creates a little bit of chaos. For example last night, we (a company of four) were offered to have our dinner at the bar instead of a table despite a reservation we made a few days prior. We refused and politely requested a table instead (as we planned). We got a table but one of the hostess literally came to our table every 20 min. to “check on us” and see whether we’re ready to leave... This did not ruin our evening, we still enjoyed our steaks, cocktails and the service. I guess if anything, I wasn’t crazy about the attitude of the hosts. They could show a little more courtesy and respect, especially since we left almost a thousand dollars there for the meal...
I have been here several times, food is awesome. This time I had the winter sangria and it was delicious - so fruity. Ordered the 14 oz. dry aged rib eye cooked medium and said yes to the peppercorn crust. It was a little overcooked, more like med-well but it was good and Im not a complainer but Im sure if I asked they would have taken it back and gotten me a new piece no problem. Im going to ask for the med-rare plus next time and I think that will be perfect. Had the foie gras special - never had that before and I HATE liver but this was delicious and creamy and the bread they give you to eat it with is so light and fluffy. I was told by a friend to expect a grainy texture but it was like eating whipped mousse and she was surprised at how smooth it was. Had the duck fat potatoes with a nicely spicy chipotle sauce, roasted cauliflower with bacon, creamed spinach and the bacon appetizer. Everything was delicious but also very rich and heavy with so much cream and fat. Great for a once in a while indulgence/special occasion. Oh, we had the bananas foster creme brulee - amazing of course! The staff was very attentive (maybe a little too much so - my water glass never went below 3/4 full.) This place is quite expensive - $300 after 20% tip for two ppl including drinks, apps, entrees, sides and desserts. One steak alone is between $55 - $78 if I remember correctly. But I did have a full meal in a doggy bag - I didnt eat half my steak and there were left over sides so enough for dinner the next night (ate bread and appetizers so got full quickly.) Cant wait for the next special occasion to cone back!
Excellent village steakhouse. We sat for two on a Tuesday night. Somewhat crowded but found a table as a walk in. The two tops are jammed next to each other and you get to know your neighbors but it allows for more seating. There are two welcoming hostesses at the front door with a coat check. The decor inside is a classic speakeasy vibe. The waiters are extremely attentive. The food: For starters we ordered the bacon split for two and the jumbo lump crab meat. They have a spicy mustard sauce that I would buy if they bottled it. we ordered the 12ounce filet and the 20 ounce bone in rib eye. Both cooked to almost perfection. A little more done than usual. Only real complaint. For sides we had the goose fat potatoes which were lackluster but tasty. Omg try the creamed corn pancetta. It was the best thing on the plate. They have a 24 layer chocolate cake which is fantastically over the top. Also a warm brownie sundae doused in melted semi sweet chocolate. Try them both of you can. This is an old school steakhouse with plenty of celebrity signed pictures on the wall. Check it out.
Great food and service in perfect proportions. The staff split our plates for my date and I at no extra charge. Complementing the food and service is a great layout and atmosphere. The walls are decorated with pictures of American celebrities and at the front complementary coat check. All of which makes for a great dining experience especially if you are a tourist looking for a fancy night.
Had a wonderful experience with my Wife for our 1 year wedding anniversary, the food and atmosphere was wonderful! Will definitely be coming back! The staff was very kind and made our night memorable. Vaccine Card is required and a reservation is recommended. Thank you all so again so much!
Expensive steak house. As an Australian who has eaten a lot (like A LOT) of excellent quality steak, the rib eye (med rare) here was genuinely incredible, easily top 3 and Ill have to go back for round two as it might be no. 1. Can also recommend the bernaise and fries. Less so the potato gratin (made with mashed potato it seemed). Worth the money anyway.
Service used be great. e everyone around me got bread, I got nothing, waiting for my dinner. And I was literally sitting waiting for like 20 min, for bartender to come to me for dessert menu. Oh this was all at the bar. Others got dessert menu so quick after they were done, I was really confused. And I was pressured into giving 20% tip. I dont know what to say, Ive come here quite a few times in past and experience was great, but tonight, Im wondering if I was ignored b/c I was wearing a hoodie and jeans. When I pulled out the black card, the guy changed his attitude, but it was too little too late. I guess never again at strip house on 12th St.
Oysters and bacon to start. 12oz filet steak with roasted garlic and bernaise for main. Fries, potato gratin, mash, creamed spinach, broccoli, burrata, mac & cheese, and roasted Brussels sprouts for sides. Wine, beer, and black truffle & blue cheese martini to drink. Great service and delicious as usual. One of our favourite places.
This place is an excellent spot for steaks! The porterhouse was amazing, along with the cream of spinach and MAC N CHEESE, WOW! Let me not forget, the cheesecake was a great dessert because it was slightly browned at the top, which I love love love, the fruit were very fresh and the berry sauce was a great addition. I will definitely return.
Came here with a group of girl friends for a birthday dinner. We made the reservation at the last minute due to some confusion with our original plans, and Strip House could not have been more accommodating from start to finish. They happily squeezed us in, seated us at a great table when we arrived, provided great service throughout, and the manager (forgetting his name at the moment) even brought a little extra something for our table since we were celebrating an occasion. SO nice. The food and drinks were impeccable as well. Everything was flavorful and tasted great. We’re so happy we ended up there and will definitely be going back.
I had the mac and cheese from here. It was a takeaway and it was absolutely delicious! I am British so mac and cheese is NOWHERE near as big in the UK as it is here in the US. However this was SO good! I do have to take off one star, not because of the long wait but because of the lack of communication about the fact that it was going to take so long! I know I shouldve asked but I did not realize that it would take so long. If it was up to me though, I would not be taking off 1 star, I would be taking off 1/2 a star. The staff were nice and, once again, DELICIOUS mac and cheese!
Honestly the food was pretty bland we went for restaurant week but did order the side of potatoes au gratin and the shrimps as an appetizer. so starting with the appetizer my date ordered the charred watermelon salad which was fine the dish was missing an acidic note and the watermelon could have used more char; I ordered the I believe it was salmon tartare and again it was missing the acidic notes that a raw fish dish should have to bring out the flavor and was personally missing salt. We also had the shrimp cocktail which in my opinion some of the shrimp were gamy and maybe bitter likely from being over cooked and not having been cleaned correctly. As for our entrees we both ordered the steak and I will say the cook on it was fantastic however again lacked seasoning could’ve used salt and pepper, my date and I both felt this way and that it was relying too much for flavoring from a truffle sauce which masks the meats natural flavors which is a shame since it costs an additional fee off the restaurant week menu and granted can’t expect much when paying 40 per person with an extra fee of $8 for each steak, however I would expect all meals to be made equally. And finally dessert both of us ordered the lemon cake which itself was good, however, the balsamic was ironically too acidic for this desert. Maybe the food didn’t fit our palate. However, it was disappointing nonetheless and I may not be returning in the future.
Very elegant, classy, sophisticated, pricey steakhouse. Loved it!!!!We made reservations for a party of 9zManager was superrrr professional, kind, patient, a team player for sure!! He was out here checking on all tables and even taking orders to help the servers!!Our server was Muiris and he was super delightful!!!We all ordered whatever we wanted, I got the salmon medium ( tasted magnificent !! ) especially with this soy glaze sauce they give you for the salmon, I removed all the ingredients I didn’t like and got a substitute of Mac and cheese that was pretty good. We all shared steaks etc, I believe I tried them all and they were alllll bomb from temperatures from medium rare to medium well. The bacon we ordered was super thick and delicious omg!! I’m super upset we shared .. I should have gotten my own ( I’m a bacon lover )Music was very diverse I loved that the most!!
I went to dinner at Strip House last night and had an amazing experience! As soon as you walk in, you notice the beautiful decor and ambiance that a photo cant even capture! The waitor was so extremely professional and on point, despite how packed the dining room was.Food was exceptional! I had the 12 oz Filet Mignon with the Chimmichuri sauce and it was out of this world! Mac and cheese was just as delicious.Such a great experience and Im glad my party of 11 chose to come here for dinner.
The food was excellent. Two people, two appetizers, two steaks, two sides, one iced tea, one gin+tonic... just over $200, before tip. We were uncomfortably full, but so happy. The Bacon appetizer was unlike anything Id ever experienced. The steaks were done perfectly to specification. The water service was perfectly on point. Empty dishes were cleared immediately. Manager checked in mid-meal, waiter was friendly and attentive. They left me with nothing to complain about (how dare they)! 😜
I like to go with friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I visit this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the cooking is great and the stuff is generous and cooperative. Whenever we eat in this place we enjoy a cheerful evening. highly recommended.
I gave it only 3 stars because everything was excellent, however the steak was soaked in pepper!the pepper ruined the natural taste of the steak! Also this place is extremely overpriced and totally not a quiet atmosphere! The service was great!the drinks were way overpriced and did not taste good. I wanted to get behind the bar to whip up my own lemon drop martini. Other than this it was good. The bacon and baked clams were fantastic. The sides were small portions that were double or triple the price .
Love this place. It’s definitely a splurge dinner, but lives up to expectations and then some. Amazing, attentive wait staff, great food with some unique combinations that aren’t ... complicated just so they sound fancy. Well worth the visit.Make reservations. Trust me. Instead of waiting forever and a day, you’re typically seated practically instantly. Free coat check is a nice touch that too many other places have skipped these days.If you found this review helpful, please thumbs-up :)
If you want a great steak this is the place! The steak was perfect, the whipped potatoes were amazing and the cream spinach was so good. The bar has s great selection of just about everything and they do many speakeasy cocktails. Best to get a reservation as it is packed every night.
By far, my favorite steakhouse. I love coming to Striphouse its always a great time. The service is by far the best. The staff is so sweet, and they all make you feel like family. I have been strip house probably 20+ times and never had anything negative to say. Anything that comes out of the kitchen is always amazing and will leave you thinking about their food for the next month. This has become my go-to place for any occasion. The atmosphere is my favorite part; it is romantic and fun at the same time. This isnt your typical NYC steakhouse it is better and will always exceed your expectations. Cant wait to be back soon!
Service was impeccable. My father and I shared the dry-aged NY Strip and dry-aged bone-in Rib Eye. Both were exceptional cuts and cooked to perfection. If you prefer a slightly more tender and more caramelized steak, go with the Rib Eye. You cannot go wrong with either. Got the Au Poivre sauce just it case ... neither steak needed it even though the sauce was delicious. Must haves: Roasted Bacon, Shrimp Cocktail with fabulous cocktail sauce, perfectly cooked Herbed French Fries, and the steaks mentioned above. This is a rare steak house that is worth the price. Looking forward to going back again soon!
If you’re not going to come for the steak, for the love of god come for the CAKE. I will say that ALL the food here is outstanding. Steaks were perfectly done, the sides I could’ve eaten all on their own. And the cake. THE CAKE. So moist. So chocolatey. Not overly sweet. Good god eat the cake.
This place never fails to give me a serious hard-on. The dark velvet booths and intimate tables, always make this feel like a special treat, as you are escorted into the dimly lit dinning room away from everyday plebeians traipsing around outside. The sides are plentiful, the steaks are always sizzling and juicy and the vibe and service is always top notch. I leave with a big belly and a dented wallet, but its always worth it. In my top 2 steakhouses in New York City.
The food was top notch. I went with a group of 5 and we shared 3 steaks (it was plenty). They served it to us on a sharing plate all sliced up. It was really a treat. I recommend getting it cooked medium rare to really take advantage of the special steak flavor. The black truffle creamed spinach was incredible - it melted in your mouth and it was a runner-up for table favorite behind the main event (re: steaks).
A really great steakhouse. The ribeye was perfect as was the lobster mac & cheese. I indulged and added a gram of fresh truffle to the mac & cheese and it was totally worth it. I was incredibly surprised it was a Landrys restaurant because after many bad experiences with their restaurants in Denver, I said never again. That said, Strip House is excellent and Ill be back.
Food service was attentive but drink service was an irritating experience. We were having issues with getting alcohol served to our brother-in-laws because his ID says under 21 but his birth date clearly shows that he is of age (24). We appreciate the fact that the restaurant needs to maintain their liquor license but it is annoying to have to argue with a wine connoisseur about a valid ID.Aside from the service, I would give this place 2.5 stars since the meal was mediocre for the price you pay when compared to other NY Steakhouses for similar prices (slightly cheaper) in the area (i.g. Del Frisco’s, Benjamin’s, Wolf Gangs and Bobby Vans). My family and I had split a tomahawk and rib-eye for the main course. Although the steaks were perfectly charred, they were under-seasoned. The place has great steak sauce given that it is smoother and lighter on the palate (probably because they use less horseradish and salt).
I was there 3 weeks ago. Clients from New-York took me there while i was on holidays in the big apple.Well, it was the best steak I ever had. I got a fillet 8 ounces and it was cooked perfectly. Not only the cooking but the quality of the meat and flavors were outstanding. We had truffled spinach as side dish and others. Everything was delicious. Highly recommended but not cheap. Cocktails were 15$ if I remember. I dont know how much was my steak as I was invited but my guess is about 50$. Add all the dishes, cocktails, wine, desserts, the total was surely high, but I would return anytime and pay. It was exceptional.
Really great old NY atmosphere. Decor is very intimate and the steak was delicious. Sirloin was melt in your mouth good and the creamed spinach was amazing (although very, very heavy). The chocolate cake theyre known for is so big its served with a steak knife. Its good, but not the best Ive ever had. Im sure they have other excellent dessert options too that we didnt try because we were so stuffed already.
Fabulous friendly folks and fantastic food - what a find! A local friend suggested we check it out and now Im so impressed with the place that YOU need to know. We had this masterful cream drizzled broccoli, goose fat potatoes, thick cut bacon (a must-have) and the bone-in ribeye. Cooked to perfection (med rare) and wonderfully put together, a truly magical meal. Go. Feast.
AMAZING!!! I had never been here before. Had THE best martini which had blue cheese stuff olives in it (WOW), then the appetizer bacon (OUT OF THIS WORLD) then we shared a steak and some sides. Great vibe, cool decor and just a wonderful dining experience in general. Thank you to the amazing staff for taking care of us!
Flew all the way from Toronto Canada for this restaurant. Went with 8 friends of mine to enjoy desert especially the 24 layer chocolate cake. Waiter gave a disgusting face after I told him we are not eating, just desert. Did not get a friendly response the whole night. When it came time to pay for the bill I left cash with a 20% tip. As we were leaving the waiter peeked inside the bill presenter to ensure there was enough money. Not sure why he did this? Maybe because Im brown? Extremely unprofessional in my opinion. What good is the taste of the food if the waiters and staff are judging you based on the colour of your skin or the amount of money you are going to spend.
Nothing great about this pricey spot. You will be charged for any steak sauce. The appetizers lack strength and character. Had the rib eye and filet mignon; the temperature came a bit off. Steak was above OK. The mushrooms and smashed potatoes were weak. Lots of room for growth.
**Indoor dining during COVID pandemicLayout/atmosphere*Dimly lit; red leather boothsService*Very friendlyFood*Complimentary pretzel bread/butter - OK*14 oz. dry aged NY Strip (medium rarer) - OK; the salt & pepper crust/seasoning was a bit much*Black Truffle Creamed Spinach - good*Wild mushrooms - good
Delicious steakhouse with nice ambiance. Great for dates, celebrations, family get-together and work dinners. I actually loved their service, waiters were very attentive. The steaks are obviously delicious. I had a bone-in-ribeye and thought it was excellent. Everyone at my table was impressed with meat dishes. Deserts were nothing special, but then again, you come to stake house for stakes, not deserts. I also loved their decor. The wallpaper was a bit odd at first, but came out very classy in a combination with the whole atmosphere. Strongly recommend.
Have been coming to Strip House since 2014. The food is exquisite and the service is top notch. Same goes for the location closer to the Central Station and Las Vegas. If you ever find yourself in NYC, this is not to be missed. And make sure to try their signature 24 layers chocolate cake. Definitely worth the price!
Very delicious food - everything! Had Lobster bisque, Crab cake, Salmon, and NY Sirloin with signature potato...and everything was perfectly done! Very friendly and courteous staff for excellent service all the way around! Tables were a little tight, but understandable for a place like this. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going.
Came here with some work colleagues a few weeks ago for an informal dinner. Our steaks were very good, and I appreciated the advice of the staff about the character and flavor of the various cuts of meat. We ordered a few sides as well, which seemed good... but it was hard to tell because we were stuffed so full of meat that we didnt eat much of them. The servers were very responsive and unobtrusive. Ambience was a bit dark and old-school for my taste, though thats probably standard for most restaurants of this type. Definitely worth a visit if you are a steak enthusiast.
My significant other was the one who referred me to the Strip House. This was my first visit to the Strip house and her second one. As she mentioned, the Spinach with Truffles was to die for! The streak was one of the nicer ones Ive had in New York. We had the ribs steaks for two and the portions were very comfortable. The crusting on the meat was beautiful and the beef delicious. The creamed potatoes were average. The wine selection was extensive, but I felt rather too expensive when it came to bottles. I would have liked to have seen a few wallet friendly bottles there too.The table given to us was in the rear left corner and left us cramped in with the two tables next to us. I wish the tables were better spaced to offer better privacy and also just space to get in and out of our seats. The staff were very attentive when we first arrived and the attention slowly disappeared. The waitstaff were extremely condescending and unprofessional with behaviour Ive now spoken directly to the customer care team about. This was shocking and I do not hold the management directly responsible for the incident. Had the Matron D/ hosts been around more often, paying attention to our table, the waiters would not have had the space to behave the way they did. This experience has nevertheless not deterred me from the Strip House which we as a couple intend on visiting again as we did love our food.Hope the review and feedback helps!Vaibhav Gupta
Would have been a 3.5 if it werent for a few things. This place is expensive, but thats not why theyre only a 2. They are a 2 because when youre expensive, I expect you to be one of the best places Ive ever been. I dont expect to have to send the steak back twice, once because it was the wrong cut, and the second time because it was under-cooked and not medium as requested. Our bill was well over $1k with food and wine, but when we asked to split the bill 4 ways we were treated like we asked them to explain the theory of relativity to us. They got very rude and the problem was only solved when management became involved. On the right side, once they got the steak right (which i had to eat alone as my company had already finished eating) it tasted great, the wine list is good, the atmosphere is also really cool. Worth checking out if youve already exhausted all other results after googling best steak NYC
Second visit, second review. We had the Crab cake and bacon starters, both were delicious. Dinner was the Ribeye and Filet with mushrooms, creamed spinach and truffle fries as sides. The steaks were done perfectly. The only disappointment were the fries, which were nothing special.Cocktails were good, but a bit on the small side in my opinion (Old Fashioned, The Balvenie pour). The 24 layer cake is famously delicious, so make sure you have some, though the presentation of the Baked Alaska is amazing to see.Overall, food and service were wonderfully done and I look forward to returning.
I love steakhouses and am very happy I have discovered this one. It feels more relaxed than many in the city and the food is just as good. The background music and decor really make this feel like a comfortable and not stuffy place to eat.The service was exceptional, the type where you feel you are the only table in the restaurant. I ordered a rib eye and 2 others in my party shared the steak for 2. If you can find someone to partner up with order the steak for 2.
I loved the old school ambience (better than the website photos suggest), staff were knowledgeable and timely. Most importantly the steak is truly excellent. Great quality meat, perfectly cooked and seasoned. My recommendation is to give the House Potatoes a go over fries. They are truly yummy. Well done Strip House!
One of the best steak houses in New York City. The wait staff is top notch and will treat you with respect and professionalism. The dishes are excellent (even the non-steak ones) and will satisfy even the pickiest person. The chocolate layer cake is unbelievable and definitely needs two or three people to finish it 😊.A definite “must go” location for any steak affectionato.
Our server John was incredibly knowledgeable and detailed in his menu and cocktail descriptions. Every item we enjoyed was incredibly delicious with beautiful presentation and generous portions (which we wrapped up and enjoyed the next day as well!)Amy the manager came over a few times to ensure we were having a great time as it was my husbands birthday. Both John and Amys enthusiasm for the cuisine and excitement to share their passion for Strip House definitely has us excited to bring friends and family for future occasions where great service, impressive food and atmosphere are a must!
Steak - The bone in rib eye is good. 20oz is about 8 slices if youre sharing. The roasted garlic ball is good.Sides:- Goose fat potato - rosemary and black pepper was a bit overpowering. We didnt notice any goose fat flavor.- Brussel sprouts were fine. Maple flavor. Didnt notice the sirracha- (Special) gnocci with truffle - very good though small portion.Ambiance:- Casual atmosphere, with pictures of actors from days past.- Tables very crowded.- Came for an earlier dinner on a weekend. It got crowded at 8 and they increased the music volume so it was difficult to hear the other person in my party.Service:- Good service at the beginning, but towards the end it was difficult to get our waiter- Went for a birthday (and had a landrys bday reward I was redeeming when I paid) and reserved/stated this on opentable. They actually called beforehand, and asked if I wanted candles and dessert. I said sure, but I guess the message ended up getting overlooked in the hustle. It was getting louder/busy enough that I didnt bother asking for it, so just paid and left.Overall this place is would be about 3.5 but will round to 4.
I wasnt too impressed with this place. It was recommended to me as one of the better steak houses in NYC, but turned out to be nothing more than a trendy restaurant with over priced decent steaks. The waiter had a valley girl accent, which was awkward and seemed almost unprofessional. He did a good job recommending the wines by the glass to us, which were overpriced even for a NYC establishment. The steaks were decently cooked, but lacked any flavor. For $50+ bucks I expect a spectacular steak. After talking with a few more people, they mentioned that its more about the atmosphere than it is the food. I recommend they turn it into a trendy bar with some finger foods and call it a day.
One of my favorite steakhouses in NYC. The steak isnt the best you can find, but it is close. The place has a very cool feel to it and is always dark with a red hue to the lighting. Romantic in a 20s gangster sort of way. It is expensive, but you are really paying for the nice ambiance and above average food, unlike peter lugers where you are purely paying for the food.
Indulgent, gluttonous, and absolutely amazing. We came with a group of 7 and all of us walked away stuffed to the gills. Starting with the bread, then the appetizers, then came the steaks. Oh the steaks. The bone in Ribeye was cooked to perfection - red in the middle surrounded by tasty charred crust. The end pieces with the chewy fat was heavenly. My dining companions had the filet mignon and that was fantastic as well. The desserts were just over the top. Giant slices chocolate or cheesecake of your choice. We also got a complimentary slice of caramelized banana cream tart. Not cheap, but the service was fabulous.
The table where we sat added just the right amount of obstacle so that it felt that the staff were constantly hovering over you and asking to be excused because there was such little space for them to service the tables. The food was average and less inspiring than my previous visits. It may be a reflection of the change in the restaurant group ownership.
Ive always thought the Strip House was pretty good but on my most recent visit they knocked it out of the park. My steak was perfectly well done, the au poive had a great kick (was bland in the past) and their take on a twice-baked potato was great. Excellent service too.
The steaks are quite good, but be wary of the chef over or undercooking your order. With that said the service is spot on and ready to handle any problems that may arise. The decor is definitely a bit stodgy and reminds you of a time when Frank Sinatra may have frequented for a no frills NY steak. In any case get the double-cut bone-in rib eye rare with a side of creamed spinach, a glass of red wine from the extensive menu and you cant go wrong. That is unless you opt for dessert.
We went on new years eve and I have honestly never been anywhere that was so on point. Everything from the building, the decorations, the atmosphere, the service and the food were excellent. We were made to feel truly special and that was down to the excellent service. You got the feeling that every person working there was the consummate professional. It was not just a meal but an experience I will never forget and it made our new years eve perfect
AMAZING! Atmosphere, food & service! Worth the expense! Huge thanks to Aaron (the waiter from the speakeasy), Brian (bartender) & Meerish (our waiter) for an incredible birthday dinner. We had a group of eight. Favs: maple candied bacon app, raw oysters, bone-in filet minion, foie gras, black truffle creamed spinach & cold brew White Russian for dessert. Now the signature choc cake is delicious but try the double chocolate brownie — insane! Can’t wait to go back! But first need to hit the gym!! ;-) P.S. I went to both locations...Village is better.
The Speakeasy Burger is the best burger Ive ever had! I have had $50 burgers and this is far better in terms of tastes and quality. I know youre probably wondering why got to a steak house to eat a $26 burger, but I can never pass on a burger they claim is great so I challenged them and they passed with flying colors. Oh and the drinks were good too, strong and you can only probably have one and youre done. Lol!
Being the doting gf, I brought my meat-loving SO here for his bday. It was a frigid night and StripHouse had a line out the door. When asked the occasion, the hostess gave me a strange look and said its Wednesday!Even with reservations, we waited over half an hour for our table but were supplied with libations (drinks pack a punch and if youre willing to pay for it, are plentiful in selection). Our waiter was nice, offering up suggestions all night. On his recommendation (and the many Yelp! reviews), we ordered the truffled spinach (as delicious as they say!), crab cakes (delicious, very crabby in the best way!) and the ripped apart potatoes (fried, delicious), ribeye (rare & delicious) and rare strip. Everything was quite delicious (word of the day?!?) and we much enjoyed our amuse bouche of creamed cauliflower soup.We enjoyed everything and when we were too full for dessert, our waiter decided hed treat us, serving up a complimentary slice of classic NY cheesecake, complete with lemon tart icing. Wonderful and great hospitality.SO and I loved the dark, intimate atmosphere and our neighbor table shared the sentiment. The lady there had also brought her man to celebrate in style, and our excitement bounced off each other.Even now (many months later) SO remembers his meal at Strip House being one of the best. Well be back, soon!
Had a great time at dinner here last week with my daughter and her finance. Loved the casual vibe at Strip Housee, and the steaks were fabulous...not to mention the outstanding truffled creamed spinach and crazy-good potatoes. Also a lovely wine selection -- well be back!
Super friendly and inviting staff combine with great coffee and tea options make this place awesome already. Ever get bored at a cafe while waiting for a friend? Sitting down to enjoy your coffee? Or whatever the reason you wanted to go to a cafe? You wont here. Plenty to keep everybody entertained from pornopoly, checking out the kinky merchandise, to looking at the photos on the wall (warning: definitely not pg-13). This place is pretty kick-ass. Come. Stay awhile. The people wont bite... much.
Fun atmosphere, good plates, definitely get the Strip steak, there is a reason they are called the Strip House. They do it well, and their other steaks are good, but the Strip is really perfected. I would suggest a visit, the speak easy is fun and really does seem like it is out of a movie speakeasy.
I like to creep people out...doing things like walking in to a steakhouse, with a reservation for 1*, at noon on a Tuesday and refusing the menu and just requesting a $16+tax slice of cake that requires a steak knife. Servers at the good places smile and make conversation, but you can always tell what they really think behind the pleasantries**. The good thing is I couldnt care less, and enjoyed (but not as much as I expected to) every bite of that thing. FYI they began lunch service at SHND a few weeks back and are pushing burgers hard, though no one else was there throughout my visit.*Why not get the OpenTable reservation points?**The hours on their site and this listing seem inconsistent, and shy away from explicitly discussing whether they offer takeout, and my server evaded the question accordingly. As the name implies, this is a recessed space adjacent to Strip House proper, which is open for dinner only.
Bone-In New York StripThe steak you should be ordering at The Strip House. It’s twenty ounces (and fifty dollars worth) of perfectly charred goodness, with the ideal balance of lean meat to fat.Filet MignonA butterflied 10 ounce filet is a nice way to go if you’re looking to do anything other than sleep in the bathroom after dinner.Porterhouse for TwoNow, we’re not going to claim that this porterhouse is as good as the famous Peter Luger’s, but it definitely does the job if you don’t feel like making the trip to Brooklyn. The filet side is about as tender as a piece of meat can possibly be.RibeyeEither for one or two, the ribeye at Strip House is also an excellent piece of meat. Probably our second favorite cut behind the bone-in strip.Black Truffle Creamed SpinachJust in case basic spinach sides aren’t getting it done for you, here comes a little copper pot full of creamed spinach with black truffle. Amazing.Goose Fat PotatoesAnother side that Strip House is known for, this is a mound of crispy, duck fatty potatoes that probably just took a year or two off your life. Eat and pray for speedy advances in stem cell treatments.
Since living in nyc for the last 3 years i will confidently say strip house on the 12th is the most consistent steak house in the city. having dined at all staples, of course, strip house is the only spot that delivers everytime. sometimes overlooked by some, but not to those who know thier game; great steak knives are one of my favorite details of this place along side everything else that makes this the perfect steakhouse. a nice little speakeasy next door adds a great touch as well.that said, great cocktails, sexy ambiance and consistent, great service. i dine here alone at the bar and in large groups in thier perfectly laid out dining floor... with the exact satisfaction. across entertaining clients or showing out of town friends a good meal, strip house on 12th is my consistent go to.... currently having a cocktail at the edition and literally heading to the bar for a manhattan and a strip right after.
They really have great food here. very rich, but great. the place is packed so service can suffer a bit (unless you dont mind a waiter tripping on someones coat and dumping a drink on you).you get what you pay for here all the way down to dessert. remember to split as they are huge and you will be stuffed when it is served.
Great food, great staff, very nice relaxing Atmosphere Extensive selection of wine and liquor Will perfectly pair with everything on the menu Just ask your waiter for what they recommend And 10 out of 10 times they will make the perfect pairing I only wish I knew of this place sooner so Id have more memories there

2022-01-05First visit to this branch, after going to the midtown one several times. The place doesn’t have the same atmosphere as the other one, but the food is really delicious. We had a porterhouse along with the duck fat roasted potatoes and creamed spinach. The 24 layer chocolate cake is just perfection, sp make sure you have room for it (doggy bags are also available, it’s big!)

2022-04-30A very cool place, has a great atmosphere, feels old-school but more upbeat than Peter Lugers for example. Yes not cheap but never felt like anything didnt deserve its cost (Bacon maybe, but even then it was really good). Wine is solid too. Had a really enjoyable evening!

2022-03-28Remarkable services and food was cooked to perfection. Seen in pictures is their special 40oz Tomahawk steak for two. Ambiance of the store was perfect for a date, and the decor on the wall of famous elites from actors and actress to sopranos of opera was the perfect statement pieces to enjoy a dinner.

2021-11-07Came here for my birthday dinner and it was a very nice experience. The hostess was welcoming from the moment we stepped in and acknowledged that this was a birthday celebration. My one comment is that the tables are VERY close together, so it was easy to eavesdrop on the conversations that were happening next to us. That was my only one real complaint.Service was also a bit spotty during the dinner, especially towards the end. My 14oz aged rib eye was so delicious and cooked to perfection. The bacon was also very delicious but I really wish it was crisper on the outside. Sauce was dynamite though. For dessert we ordered the Baked Alaska, which we absolutely LOVED. A lot of depth of flavor to that dessert.Would absolutely come back!

2022-01-15Review is solely on the famous 24 layer chocolate cake. A single slice can truly feed 4 people. It’s huge in size. The top layer frosting is also very nice. Overall the interior frosting could use a little work. But in America everything is big and grand. Beautiful and historical establishment and fun to try the novelty of this famous cake.

2022-05-02Great steak ordered bone in ribeye and oysters with some old fashioned. Drink wasn’t good but the steak was awesome and servers were friendly. Romantic vibe

2022-01-07The most amazing ribeye I have ever eaten in my 49 years of life. Side dishes were very good, but it was difficult to remember them as the steak was so out of this world amazing. Hyperbole justified.

2022-07-12By far the best steak I’ve had! It was perfectly seasoned and the select few sides were amazing. I’d recommend getting the lobster mac and cheese as a side and the baked Alaska for dessert.

2022-06-27No words. This place was AMAZING! The atmosphere, the drinks, and last but not least the Steak! Please kiss the chef. Hands down the best steak I have ever eaten. I am going to recommend this place to everybody I know. If I wasnt already in the city the drive would have well been worth it. Thanks for helping make my lil bros big 30th rememberable.
