Studio 54 in other cities:
I really like this theatre! Its Its beautifully designed and has a good view of the stage from just about every seat, since its a smaller space. But the seats are a bit close, so you might need to get up and stretch your legs of youre on the taller side. I saw Caroline or Change here and it was amazing! Definitely recommend
Very pretty in the inside. Seats were comfy. Good view even from far back (second to last row). Affordable tickets. The show was through roundabout theater, and they have discounted tickets (HIPTIX Program) for people ages 18-35, allowing you to buy up to 2 tickets ( second ticket doesnt have to be for a person aged 18-35), I gave my second ticket to my sister) for $25 each, my mom got a full priced ticket, which was a little over $40 I believe. short walk from times square. We saw Holiday Inn staring Corbin Bleu (high school musical) and Bryce Pinkham. Snack prices were very reasonable, but pay attention to how the line forms, I think I ( completely accidentally) cut people in line (I dont think anyone noticed, as no one said anything to me) and didnt realize until after I made a purchase and stepped out and saw how the line was formed, which made me feel kinda bad. oops! sorry...
Went to see the play The Sound Inside at Studio54 starring Mary Louise Parker. Going to Studio54 has always been on my bucket list as I was a kid in the heydays of the 54 so getting to be inside the infamous and iconic venue was so much fun!! Whoever renovated the venue did a fantastic job as you would never know it was a nightclub/disco nowadays. The chandeliers featured are from the first and second floors of the theater. The disco ball is in the lobby right when you walk in the door a nostalgic nod to the buildings infamous reputation.
This is a review of the theatre. Box office lobby was open at least an hour before curtain during our visit. For an 8pm curtain, the house opens at 7:30pm. If you get here early, there are no benches or seats. Some people tried to sit on these black wooden bases against the wall. The ‘bouncer’ told us it wasn’t safe. He acted more like a bouncer than the welcoming committee. Several elderly patrons who came early left to find a place to sit.Don’t sit on mezzanine EE101 or the corresponding EE102. A black bar will obstruct your view. See pic.
Really loved this place! Went to see the play Sweat which was great! The whole place is elegant and has a Cosy vibe. You can buy drinks and snacks at the bar by the entrance and take them with to your seat which is great! The staff was friendly and the facilities in were well kept and clean. Cool spot for an evening out!
A former iconic disco nightclub, Studio 54 is one of the most – preferred venues on Broadway. It was first opened as the Gallo Opera House. It operated as an entertainment venue under various names until 1942, when CBS began using it as a radio and television studio dubbed Studio 52. It was remade into a club. The Club has achieved a cult status for many reasons and was a popular place for celebrities. However, it was sold in 1980, and was sold, opened and closed several times.Since November 1998, the site has served as a venue for productions of the Roundabout Theatre Company and retains the name Studio 54. A separate restaurant and nightclub, Feinsteins/54 Below, operates in the basement of the building. There’s even a record label there called Studio 54 Music.Probably the venue with the most colorful past, it operates as a musical theater today with a capacity of 1,006. The most notable shows presented on Studio 54’s stage are Kiss Me, Kate; The Sound Inside, Caroline, or Change, Children of a Lesser God, The Lifespan of a Fact, Cabaret, and Assassins.Caroline, or Change was canceled due to the COVID – 19 outbreak, but it really needs to run constantly on Broadway because it deals with issues that are still present around us.
The show was well executed and the staff courteous, but the seats are just about the most uncomfortable ones Ive sat in at a New York show. I could see just fine from my spot in the mezzanine, but Im only 57 and my knees were touching the seat in front of me. I am not a big person, but I barely had room to move and couldnt get comfortable. Id probably try to avoid this theater next time around unless it had an absolute must-see show in it.
So I saw Kiss Me Kate here and it was one of the best sounding performances I have been to yet. I wont tell you about the show in particular as you can find tons of info about it with a simple online search. The show was a great experience and I would recommend it for locals or tourists looking for a bit of that Broadway magic that they can reminisce over forever. The vocal performances will simply amaze you. I am pretty sure 2 of the numbers should definitely give this show a couple of Tony nominations. I am not sure how much of this show is a part of the original production but the Direction, Choreography, Music, Set, Lighting, Wardrobe and Cast are simply amazing with a special Shout out to all those support positions as no show can be this good without amazing crew. There was was only one noticeable missed line that was recovered by the performer. The theater Studio 54 was true to its hype. Temperature was comfortable. Ushers were pleasant and helpful as well as clear with any instructions on intermission time and directions for restrooms, and seating. Concessions were about the same as other Broadway theaters 2 bottles of Fiji water and 1 pack of peanuts m&ms were $15.25. The seats while nice and padded had a sinking feeling that those who are vertically challenged may have some issue with the further back you sit on the Orchestra level. Pro tip: if you consider yourself a short person ask for a seat cushion to help elevate yourself, but ask early before the house runs out. Most importantly, have fun!
We watched The Sound Inside in this theater. The theater features a large entrance way and plenty of exits. The seats are relatively cramped if you are on the taller side. This is actually a large theater with very steep seating in the mezzanine. This is actually a good thing since someone taller than you sitting in front will not be too big of an issue when watching a performance.
A mid sized theatre so not a typical Broadway location. The acoustics were surprisingly good. The full bar at the back is a nice add on. Our play didnt have an intermission so dont know what type of traffic jam that would create though. Getting everyone out at the end did take longer though than in other theatres.
Beautiful theatre, great sound, and performance! Kiss Me Kate was PHENOMENAL. I only put four stars because seats in the Mezzanine were terribly uncomfortable and not suitable for tall people, I recognize that I have long legs, but I couldnt even sit forward in my seat because my knees hit right where the other seats in front of me began. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, aside from having to sit sideways in my seat!
😘 me Kate is was a wonderful show but I almost walked out at intermission because the seat had absolutely NO leg room. Ive sat in some pretty tight spots before in these ancient Broadway theaters but this was egregious. I had to contort my body and jam my knees into the seat in front of me to be about to even even sit down. Other theatergoers nearly a foot shorter than me had trouble with the amount of leg room.
Studio 54 is a national treasure, a beautiful building with a lot of history. As this is the first time I have been to New York I felt it was something I wanted to see, and experience. I saw a play called The Sound Inside, while I was not entirely impressed by the play, the experience as a whole was quite pleasurable. I will recommend to others.
Wow wow wow! What an amazing venue, and great company! Saw them performing Holiday Inn, was absolutely extraordinary! Fun, amusing, great dancing, music (loved the orchestra musicians being in different locations, watching the conductor on a little small privet video screen BTW), stage and costumes. Beautiful directing work. The iconic venue is so beautifully designed, with a lot of attention to details. Enjoyed every moment of it, thank you!
The seats are small and your knees are guaranteed to be in the persons back in front of you. The bathrooms are upstairs (I believe there was an accessible one on the main level). The ambiance was nice. Drinks were outrageously expensive. We saw Lifespan of A Fact. It was hilarious!
As soon as I found out I was going to NYC I knew I had to go to a theatre, I managed to get a front row seat for Therese Raquin. On entering the building I was amazed at the decor and beautiful character of the theatre. It is very classy, shabby chic and I just couldnt wait to get inside! Very heavy beautiful chandeliers in the foyer were delightful too stare at whilst waiting in line. The staff on site were very friendly, not too aggressive as some can be seen by security. LOnce inside I was amazed how I felt like I was the only one in the room, it was so relaxing. Seats very comfy and drinks/snacks not too over priced.I had the most amazing time and it will be one day i will never forget.Thank you
Legendary spot and incredible shows but youd think for $275 seats, youd get some heat. The place was freezing inside.Im only going in the spring or summertime because that cold was redicuous... This was second row upfront seats. Oh well thank goodness the show was great...
Very old and well kept theater. Just saw my second production from the roundabout company (cabaret and Therese Raquin) and both times the stage props did not disappoint. They even made the audiences seats at the cabaret production look like actual cabaret seats. Well done. Will come back again. Ask about their reduced prices when buying tickets to three of their productions.
The show was great, John Leguizamo is the man! But the theater seats are very small for a large man like myself. Make sure you carefully select what seats you sit in because they are very very small. Even for my wife who is only 5 foot 4 she had a very hard time sitting in the seats in the balcony area.
Not a huge theater but feels spacious enough, ushers make it easy to find seats felt like a smooth process. I disliked that there werent restrooms on the first floor so orchestra guests are obligated to go upstairs is they need facilities. Overall not a bad experience. I came for Latin History for Morons. John Leguizamo did great with this one!
Fantastic theater! Just went to see Cabaret today and was amazed by the decor, architecture and the way its been preserved after all these years. I couldnt help to imagine the good days of Studio 54! Would go back there anytime for a play, party or anything. Maybe they want to improve the restrooms situation, thats the only thing I didnt like as I had to wait in line for a long time.
Came here to see the 2014 revival of Cabaret. Absolutely fantastic theater. I love the unique layout of the theater, as well as the seating arrangement in the orchestra level. The decor is also a sight to behold! THe mezzanine seats are on par with most older theaters - not exactly comfortable, but not as cramped as some other theaters. Each level is nicely elevated, so unless you have the misfortune, like I did, of sitting behind someone exceptionally tall with a crazy hairdo, you should have a good view of the stage.Note: Mens room in this theater is very small and cramped. The line can get ridiculously long during intermission, so go early if you want to avoid the line.
Saw a great production of The Lifespan of a Fact, from up in the nosebleed section. Aside from the fact that the rows of seats are way too close together, the theater is an intimate space, which affords great sightlines and easy listening. Roundabout has a good venue.
I am not old enough to remember this place from its earliest incarnation as a TV studio, but I am old enough to remember it from its days as a disco. Nowadays, its interesting to see it as one of Roundabouts main theaters, beginning with its role as part of the backdrop for their reversal of Cabaret. Its a decent, if somewhat awkwardly designed, place to see a show, and I suppose it is as convenient or inconvenient as any other Broadway theater.
Went to see John Leguizamo in December. Theatre staff was friendly. Theatre was clean. From what I could discern, most seats are good seats for seeing the stage. The floor upstairs (first tier) had a slant to it thats a bit disconcerting when walking to ones seat. It was one of the coldest days of the year; heat could have been cranked up a bit more.
Studio 54 has had quite a history whether for: legitimate theater, television or as a very famous nightclub and back to legitimate theater. It houses many great Broadway theater productions. However, the theater itself is a bit grungy. It is about time it was given some tender loving care and brought back to its original glory.
Saw Daniel Radcliffe in a Lifespan of a Fact. Had a great time. We sat in the balcony in the first row on the far left side. Had a good view. The middle balcony area has limited views due to the sound bar and lighting control located there just FYI when picking seats.
Ok venue, Excellent play - The Lifespan of a fact (with Daniel Radcliffe). The only complaint I have are the seats. The rows are too horizontal, so if you get somebody in front of you who is just a bit taller than average, its hard to see, through no fault of theirs. It also feels a bit cramped, and Im average sized. A taller guy next to us was visibly uncomfortable. I just think the venue is due for a renovation.
Aside from being the historic Studio 54 club, it is an incredible place to enjoy. Saw Kiss Me Kate here with family and we all had an amazing time. If your just passing through or live in the city you need to do yourself a favor and attend play here. You will have a great time!
Nice place but dont expect much leg room. I went to see Latin History for Morons. I enjoyed the show but I could NOT wait to get out of my seat. I am 5 7 and my knees were touching the back of the seat from the row in front of me. As I laughed my shoulders rubbed up against the stranger next to me. The most uncomfortable experience ever. I had no circulation in my legs for almost 2 hrs.
I went here back when Wishful Drinking was running. Id never managed to see a show at this venue. Like many other shows Ive seen, the mezzanine area was a bit steep and crowded, but Im failing to think of any theatre I could say doesnt have that problem!I like that this is one of the smaller-style theatres with more of an intimate feel to it. The accoustics were great - easy to hear everything on stage (along with an occasional rumble courtesy of MTA, ahhhh NYC). The only thing Id say echoes what some others have said which is that it looks like the theatre hasnt been renovated in quite some time.
Very pretty theater. Ladies room had many stalls, so the long line went quickly. John Leguizamo is hilarious and I truly felt like a moron in Latin History. U.S. historical textbooks and school curricula really need to be amended. Its shameful. I didnt give 5 stars because the sound wasnt great in the nosebleed section where I sat even though there were speakers near me. Turn up the volume a little, Studio 54!
Saw the John Leguizamo one man show here. Show was 3 stars, place is 3 stars. One the lower level the rows are a little too flat making it harder to see. I imagine it would be very difficult if you are short and have a tall person in front of you.Good bar with fast service. Bathrooms are about average.
Pretty good place , the drinks were good at the bartender and then bottle service is a must . The bottle service gets you your own little section which is good because it gets really packed . Theres no dress code at all . Some people wearing casual attire and others all dressed up for the club . Only 4 stars because the parking is kinda lame and the security guards do more partying then there actual job .
I saw The Lifespan of a Fact here, it was a wonderful performance, Cannavale in particular was a gritty delight as DAgata. I was surprised to find out the play was based on actual events, Im really interested in checking out the book DAgata and Final co-wroe above the the process, on which the play is based. The venue was beautiful and remarkably intimate, I had unusual seats in the front row on the far left hand side of the venue, which afforded me a pretty unique vantage, often from the perspective of the editor in the play I saw. I would recommend both the play and the venue.
The last time I went to Studio 54 was for The Mystery of Edwin Drood which was an amazing performance by The Roundabout Theatre. There arent as many seats as some of the other Broadway theaters, but that just means its hard to get a bad seat in this place! The staff is friendly and attentive, plus they like to maintain their own characters! Definitely one of the underrated places to see a show on Broadway.
The worst experience of my life, I was a bit late and the manager didn’t want me to let in, and didn’t give me any solution. She was a total bully, even the workers said that about her. It’s a shame that I’m such a legendary place the manager is not willing to help the costumers. She needs a training in costumer relations.
Very upset customer! I pulled in to your lot located steps away from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was told $35 for my SUV. My sister than pulled in behind me in her SUV and I said she was with me. The guy clearly said $35 for me and $15 for her total $50. I asked more than once to clarify since it seemed to good even asking so $25 per car and he said yes so we agreed to park and forgo our $34.95 coupon for the IKON lot located just down the street. When we picked up our cars he changed it to $35 for my car and $50 for my sister. After an altercation he proceeded to tell me I would have to now wait for my car. I had with me a 6 and 4 year old and it was 15 degrees outside. When he did finally bring a car it was not mine because he wrote down a brown Chevy Sudan and I have an orange 2018 equinox. He again proceeded to make me wait in the cold as he brought out other cars and was just yelling out types of cars. At one point he actually said who has the white lexis maybe I should have said me a jumped in and took off since he had no idea who’s car was whos. 2022-04-27This is a very pretty theater, not to mention that it is legendary. Theres still a big disco ball hanging at the entrance hall when you walked in. The leg room at this theater is also very generous on the orchestra. The seats are very comfortable very thick cushion.

2022-07-05Saw The Minutes here and it’s a gorgeous theatre. I wish I knew that the stage isn’t too high up and first row seats are amazing. Next time will definitely get those (prices were almost the same as in the middle of the theatre).

2022-05-21Came here to see Children of a Lesser God play with Joshua Jackson and Lauren Ridloff. Historic theater and bang in middle of Midtown West. Seats were very comfortable and plenty of legroom in Orchestra seats. We were in row K. Bar looked cool too even though we didnt get any drinks. Also saw lifespan of a fact with Daniel Radcliffe in it. Excellent play. Theater is a bit dated if anyone is looking for a more updated feel. We came back to see The Minutes and we had Orchestra seats. Excellent play with Noah Reid and Jessie Mueller.

2022-07-02Saw The Minutes there and the performance was outstanding but being forced to get aisle seats when at most 1/5th of the seats were used left a sour taste in my mouth.
