I was a Tutor for Success Stories Learning Center and during my time there I have had many amazing student-teacher experiences. The kids truly get a full experience as the staff there are very knowledgeable, caring and understanding of the goals of both the parents and students who choose to enroll in this program. Personally, I have seen growth in students studies, math skills and overall success!
As a parent my expectations for my sons tutoring were met. The ability to break apart and breakdown the concepts was tremendous and afforded my son not only the opportunity to understand the subject matter, but to actually enjoy a subject he struggled with. He enjoyed his experiences. Based on my experience I have recommended other parents and they too, came away pleased. AC.
My son was enrolled last summer with this center. His tutors were amazing and the owner is very engaging with the students. They made sure my son understood every lesson taught and completed all assigned homeworks. He now attends college and is doing great. Thank you Success Stories for paving his educational path. Keep up the great work!!!!!!
Nostalgic writing this review, as i enter the adult world and prepare myself for college graduation i look at where my academic lifestyle really progressed. At Success Stories Learning Center. The teachers make it a fun learning experience, where you get ample opportunity to study and grow as a student.
My daughter attended Success Stories Learning and was tutored in Mathematics. The skills reinforced by Mr. Blues made a difference. In the private school that she attended she was able to maintain an A average in the advanced Math class and did very well on her SATs. She was accepted and has since graduated from a prestigious college and is forever grateful to Mr Blues for the work he did with her. I found him to be very caring and approachable and would highly recommend him.
Success Stories help my son a great deal. He was tutored here for many years and because of that he is now attending Cornell University, and just got an internship offer at Uber as a software engineer. Thanks to the owner and staff at Success Stories Learning Center. I definitely recommend.
Updated review as of April 10th, 2021,My daughter just graduated from LIU on May 2020 and she is now pursuing her masters degree in physical therapy. She was able to maintain her GPA which allowed her to keep her scholarship throughout school. I am grateful for Success Stories for all of the work they have done for both of my kids.My son started going to Success Stories Learning Center for about 3 years now.He was a little slow in reading and writing. The teacher really help him a lot,now he’s in the 9 grade and he’s doing very well he’s on the Honor roll. Thanks to Mr Bleus and all the teachers who help him.
I was employed at Success Stories Learning Center for five years on their Operations team. While working there I learned a lot. The center prioritizes providing students with instruction based on their targeted needs. EVERYDAY I watched that mission play out not only in the classrooms with the instructional staff, but also in other supporting departments. Leadership is open minded and works alongside everyone providing guidance and support. They are extremely dedicated to the betterment of our youth. It was a great experience to be a part of a company that gives its all to their students and the families that they service. In my five years, I watched students grow up and become true success stories. I have also grown so much professionally since working here. SSLC is a community staple and I would recommend it to inquiring parents and potential employees.
I have been a student at Success Stories Learning Center since I was about 12 years old. Mr. Bleus and his amazing staff has helped me prepare for the specialized high school exam, coached me through my trigonometry and geometry regents exam and the SATs. Their patience and dedication got me into many colleges including my number one choice. Over a decade later, I am living the dream as a Registered Nurse in my home city. I cant thank Mr. Bleus enough for his hard work and passion for teaching. This treatment extends not just to me but to all his students. He and his wonderful team played a major role in where I am today! Ive recommend him to my family and anyone that needs the extra help in school or for test prep.
I first began as a student at SSLC where we focused on increasing my math scores while I was in junior h.s. With hard work, and a lot of extra homework and guidance, I was able to improve my math scores to where it needed to be, as well as improve my confidence to succeed in my courses.Transitioning into my junior year of high school, I was hired as a tutor where I taught all ages, with the bulk of my students needing regents prep. The joy on the students faces when they received those grades and saw the improvement on their report cards/ test scores were priceless.Working here during the time I did was definitely an experience and one that came with countless opportunities for intellectual growth and maturity.
The owner is definitely a fast talking con artist. I have sat in first hand and have seen how over worked his staff is. One tutor will have about 6 kids at one time. Think about it folks how much attention will your child be getting? The concept is good and the people he has working for him are great but this is getting over.
Before starting my journey with success stories in the Fall of 2006, I was basically failing every class and at risk of being a high school dropout. Mr. Bleus not only helped me understand the work but also helped me to regain my confidence that I could succeed in school and beyond. Because of him I was able to graduate on time and go on to college where I received my Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. I would highly recommend Success Stories to anybody.
My son Ryan attended Success Stories when he was in the third and fourth grade. Thanks to Mr. Blues he excelled not only in class but also on his state exams. The tutors are really patient, and caring. They take their time to explain a concept/topic to the children until they get it. I was really impressed by the fact that my son was always a step ahead in school. Mr. Blues and his tutors made sure that Ryan had a clear understanding of his work. He was also taught how to represent his work in multiple ways.Ryan is now in Middle school, I do plan on re-enrolling him back into the center in the Fall of 2014 because I believe it will strengthen his math and reading skills in the 7th grade. I also have to register him again because he himself is asking to go back to Mr. Blues. Ryan is not always excited about school but for some reason, he is whenever it has to do with going to Mr. Blues. As a parent, and educator, I wholeheartedly recommend this tutoring center for any child whether they are struggling, or just to stay abreast of their studies. Its also a plus because tuition is not as pricey as the more commercialized tutoring places.
My daughter started the summer program here and will be continuing for the rest of the school year. I must applaud the entire staff, they are very patient, kind and dedicated to helping your little ones reach their goals. My 5 year old is now more excited about learning, this school gives her lots of confidence, I’m seeing lots of improvement already, So happy I went ahead and got her enrolled...best decision ever. I strongly recommend!
My child goes to this tutoring center and it is the best. I can see some change in his work. The staff is friendly and very helpful they always call to update me on my child progress and give me tips on how to get my child to read more at home. I want to say Thank You So Much to the staff of Success Stories Learning Center for all the help you give
I worked for this learning center right out of college from 2013- 2016. I tutored in the following areas: ELA, Social Studies, Specialized High School Entrance exams in addition to GRE and GED prep. I enjoyed working here because I was able to provide individualized attention to my high school and adult students. It was always a joy to see my students progress in the subject matter from the start of the year to testing time. I only left my position at this center because it was part time and I wanted to focus more on the full time position I acquired as a NYC DOE High School teacher. The staff was always great to be around and was never big on feeding into drama while I was there. Everyone came in, worked patiently with their students and were always personally invested in the success of the little ones. Teaching/tutoring is probably the hardest job that exists because everyone expects a miraculous quick fix. In reality, improving childrens cognitive ability is a slow and laborious process that should not stop once they exit the doors of the school/learning center.
My child has been going to SS Learning Center for approximately 6 years now. There has been steady improvement in my childs ELA and Math grades; my child has made the honor roll for the past 2 years. SS Learning Center certainly provides students with the supplemental support needed to facilitate academic success. Our experience has been a positive one!!!!!
At first my wife and I were reluctant to enroll our children ages 9 and 12. One of our children has autism and can be challenging to work with so we were unsure about how he would take to the experience. We decided to move in faith and give it a try and we have been more than pleased. We have seen changes in our children academically and socially. Whenever I pick my children up from after school, they cant wait to tell me and my wife what theyve learned. Mr. Bleus the Director is also very hands on in the classrooms and always makes himself available to speak to parents.
In high school I failed the trigonometry regents multiple times. I went to Sylvan and other tutoring centers but nothing compared to SSLC. In a few months of being there I passed the exam with an 88 percent. I also did SAT Prep and received high marks on every part. Mr. Bleus and his staff go above and beyond to ensure that each child gets the help that they need to achieve their academic goals. I’d highly recommend.
My daughter has been attending Success Stories Learning Center for ELA tutoring since this past spring during her second grade school year. She ended the school year with her literacy average increased by 19 points to a 99, her phonics average at 97, and her writing average at a solid 100. She attended throughout the summer and now this current school year on a weekly basis. Mr. Bleus techniques, strategies, and keen eye for areas of improvement teamed with the gentle approach from the lovely women that support SSLC has boosted her reading level beyond the minimum target set for the school year. The attention she receives at SSLC has helped fine-tune her writing skills to assert her own thoughts and opinions into her sentences clearly and concisely. I have seen nothing but positive results with my daughter’s schoolwork since enrolling her at SSLC. She looks forward to going and as a single parent I️ am extremely grateful for invaluable added help they provide to help me help her succeed.
I agree with the poster who said these people are thieves and let me add shake down artists as well. After using this service on and off for 3-4 years & paying countless amt of money ( only because the place is within walking distance from where I used to live not because I saw an actual improvement ), these heartless thieves are trying to shake me down and intimidate me with binding contract because I had to move my child to a different state in the middle of the semester for is own safety & couldnt continue with their service. How is anyone trying to portray themselves as caring professionals act like they do. How can you expect to be paid or services that youre not providing. My advice to any parent who needs tutoring services is to stay away from that place and dont hesitate to seek legal help like Im in the process of doing regarding their so-called contract. Extenuating circumstances do exist and any good business person with common sense should understand how to fairly treat a long time paying client that they profited thousands of dollars from. The catholic school and all other programs that he was involved him understand and only expected to be paid for the time he attended, but that business. Everyone else acted with empathy and common sense for success stories learning center. I have no problem paying and have paid for every tutoring sessions that my child attended for years but I have a real problem paying for sessions that hes physically not in a position to attend. The worst people that Ive ever had the mis-fortune of dealing with.
I agree with the poster who said these people are thieves . I enrolled my child last year thinking they were going to help improve her learning skills all it did was make my child fail miserably, I had a whole meeting with Mr. Blues and my child teacher face to face and she made it clear to him that he was not helping my child at all. My advice to any parent who needs tutoring services is to stay far far far far away from that place!!!! I will be seeking legal advice. After I took her out of his program my child start learning and understanding her school work with the help from the school she attended. If I wouldve know the programs that the school was offering to help my child I would have NEVER ENROLLED HER IN SUCCESS LEARNING CENTER. My advice to parent is to please and i do mean please reach out to your child school and see what they are offering for tutoring before enrolling your child in a ridiculous tutoring program like Success Learning Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Fall 2005, our eldest son started as a high school freshman. By Fall 2006, his guidance counselor called us in and told us our son was so far behind that he would have to go to after school, night school, Saturday school(fortunately his school had those options at the time), and spend the rest of his high school career in summer school to meet the graduation requirements. He gave us the name of this new young tutor his wife had found for their daughter. Mr. MacBeth told us this young guy, who I later saw was tutoring at his kitchen table, had helped their daughter raise her SAT scores by hundreds of points. Desperate, we took this kids number. I wish I could post a picture of our son shaking Guidance Counselor MacBeths hand as he crossed that stage that June day Michael Jackson died in 2009. (Do the math. Our son graduated on time -- without after, night, Saturday, or summer school.) Or the picture of his high school Regents Diploma, or even the picture of his Penn State University diploma. No lie, it was hard. What would grow to become Success Stories, was our sons day, night, after, and Saturday school. But it paid off royal. Our son not only earned his high school Regents Diploma and matriculate from one of the most prestigious universities in the country, but Mr. Bleus helped our son regain his confidence, embrace the knowledge that with hard work he could surpass the limitations of his IEP -- did I forget to mention that part -- and become the independent entrepreneur that he is today.
I attended SSLC from 2013-2015 and it honestly was the best thing to happen to me. I was attending private school before attending Mr. Bleus Center. However the curriculum was different, long story short I didnt understand Math or English. I even didnt believe I was able to go to college. With the help of SSLC I was able to graduate H.S. and I now work as a Counselor for homeless Veterans and attending school for Human Services thanks to Mr. Bleus and the staff at SSLC I will and I always recommend him to other parents who have children who needs help or an extra push.
The success learning institution created a big impact on my sister’s learning. She has improved a lot, she more focus, she’s getting better at math, reading more fluently. If your seeking a better learning institution for you child, success stories is the right choice.
DO NOT send your child to this daycare. Trying to get my nephew out this stupid contract. I pay for tutoring for his “tutoring” and he’s not learning anything. He failed and did worst than before. Waste of money! YOU ARE BETTER OFF sending your child to PRIVATE SCHOOL, or to a more organized learning facility. My nephew sometimes don’t even complete his homework’s there. It’s undone when he comes home 9 pm on a school night. Several times he bounced from one location To the next when the owner didn’t pay the light bill and the lights shut off. He complains it’s COLD and freezing. In the summer time, no air conditioner!!! That man is just taking my money for nothing and threatens to sue me if I withdrawn my nephew. His prices are Robbery. It’s like a daycare and he charging triple the cost of a real quality education. This place is a disgrace to black owned businesses. Con artist Mr. Blues stealing our money!! Stay away. Hell on Earth
The tutors such as Ms. Caroline and others here are very devoted, helpful, and patient, they will stay back just to make sure homework is complete. Ever since my son has started here he has been getting 100% on all his school work and tests. I would definitely recommend!
Definitely helped me! My mother put me in this program to help me study for my regents and to help me with my SAT in 2012. I did well on both of those exams. I graduated and I got into the college I wanted to. Because it helped me my mother put my brother in this program. The only con I would say is that they gave a lot of homework and it was a lot for me and my bother to keep up with because we also had to do homework for school. I dont know if they still do that, but it helped me get to where I wanted.
Me and my 2 younger sisters came here for extra help and spent our after school hours coming to the center religiously. Now, Im graduating with my undergrad with plans to get my MBA. Without getting help from here I wouldnt of had the confidence to continue my education.
No one on earth deserves the treatment I received and many others received. My livelihood was at steak and he refused to give me my wages for what I worked. It is September and instill have not received it. I hope and pray that they will treat people better and know that humans deserve at the least an inch of respect for their time, heart and means of living.Parents and employees should get what they are promised and as an educator it breaks my heart to know that they didnt. The community of our youth doesnt deserve that.
Brian loves them. Caroline does a phenomenal job with the kids. Mr. Blues staff has been tutoring Brian since summer of second grade. Now he is in seventh grade. He has helped Brian learn. Brian now has enthusiasm about learning. We come all the way from Long Island to Carnarsie for a good tutoring session.
My son attended Success Stories when he was in 8th grade. He was preparing to take the TACHS test for admission to the catholic high school of his choice. He received top notch support in test taking strategies that he carried through the State exams. My son took the TACHS and got into ALL THREE of his choice Catholic High Schools. He decided on Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx. He is now a sophomore at UAlbany. Thanks Success Stories!
Complete scam!!!heres the coy:They tell you your child has to be evaluated first ($140) then they give you prices parents pay $180 a week if their lucky.... most parents are paying about $500-$1200 every week or bi- weekly expecting their child to be getting tutored but the children are all crammed in a room with portable heaters with one tutor to about 6 kids!I expected my child to get one on one tutoring, thats what im paying for!!!my child has yet to have any progess in their grades, and its been a year.he will call you 30 times a day for payment, but do not even pay his staff!!!I BEG TO GET OUT MY CONTRACT, AND currently suing him.DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!
My son attended this place summer 2018. Very bad experience. I did not receive my deposit refund until March. It was a hassle. They didn’t want to give it back. After they said I had to “request it” i received it 2 months later. After that, they continued to call me daily trying to make me bring my son back. I’m no annoyed. Why would they think that I would bring him back? Since April they’ve been calling me. Please stop!
Former employee, 0 stars. The owner oversells his business and provides insufficient services for both clients and employees. There are more students than adequate staff to tutor them. The owner, Bleus’ primary concern is money. As a former employee the biggest question on pay day was are we going to get paid? When time to separate from this company, my final check was withheld. The owner is business savvy, like any other con artist out there. Beware.
Update!!! Still has not paid me.Do not walk, RUN from this place. He still has not paid me for the last 2 weeks I worked there. As shady as they come. He will delay for as long as possible when it comes to giving customers their deposits back. This is the most inept place Ive ever worked. Beware! Hes a smooth talker. Will promise you everything under the sun to try to convince you theyre professionals - far from the truth. The entire winter I was there the heating system did not work. There were a couple heaters which he kept moving from room to room to try to get the place warm. I had a customer complain that her son had to stay out of school for 2 weeks because he got sick being there with no heat. During the summer - most of those hot days in june and July, there was only a portable AC in one room. That was only done after multiple complaints. Had to dust off some old fans to cool the other rooms- which he ending up taking one to a location where there are no students. You have to ask almost everyday for toilet paper for the kids. The AC was up and running only after visits from ACS and the dept. of health. To be fair, there are a few good tutors, but this guy is such a shady money grabber, its not even worth the effort. He will call your emergency contacts if youre a few days late with a payment. Hell have the finance person call you none stop daily even at work if you are even just a couple days late with a payment. If he says to you, dont worry, hell take care of any issue you have, know that he wont. If you call and ask to speak to him, he will dodge you for as long as possible. Once you sign that contract which you have 3 days to cancel, his attitude towards you will completely change. If you have ever used this service in the last few years, please call for your deposit back. He banks on people not remembering. Once you request a refund, he will delay and delay and delay until you give up. Dont let him keep your money. The water fountain stopped working in the summer. I bought a gallon water at the store to give to the kids. He told me its not really his responsibility to provide them with water - its suppose to be supplied by the parents. My stomach turned that day. The next day a tutor took her own money to pay for water because he had taken up the $4 petty cash that was there. I suggested he buy the water filter at Costco next time so that it will have the extended warranty. I stayed at this business because I thought that it was an opportunity to work for your own and help small businesses build. This guy is the reason we often do not support our own neighborhood businesses. Take it from someone who has seen this place from the inside....Run!
I was very pleased with the service that I received from this center when it was in its beginning stages. Because of the hands on and learning styled geared type of teaching I was able to retain the information and pass my GED exam... enrolled into college and graduated with my BPS..I recommend this place to anyone.
I use to come here when I was in Highschool, I Couldn’t pass the living environment regents for the life of me. I just couldn’t understand the terms so well, The tutors there went over everything with me step by step. I use to complain to go home because they would keep me there all night until I got it. After my sessions with SSLC I passed my living environment regents with a 90. I was more then grateful, Im actually a college student now & I’ve decided to come back because they’re truly the best.
My niece goes to this center and I’ve seen drastic changes in her reading the way she speaks I think this idea of a learning center is brilliant I’ve been there a few times to pick her up and the workers there are polite attentive and all Around-good....I think it’s brilliant for the community to have a place like this

2019-10-14My name is Lawrence Wint, but the students would always refer to me as Mr. Lawrence. The time I spent working at Success Stories Learning Center were some of the best moment of my life. SSLC was my very first job out of high school. Learning to tutor and serve with kids all throughout high school made me a tremendous candidate for the job, but the experience I gain at SSLC has molded and sharpened me for the rest of my life.Throughout my two years with the company, I enjoyed working with Mr. Bleus. His obvious passion for learning and teaching the kids made our job fun. Many students would come in with low grades and lacking motivation, but in a matter of weeks, their entire attitude about learning would be turned around. Mr. Bleus emphasized hard work, a positive attitude, and care, not only to the students but to us as tutors as well. Not only did he preach these sentiments days in and day out, but he also lived them out himself.Although the business was not perfect, Mr. Bleus and our entire team would go above and beyond for any student and parent willing to meet us halfway. Sessions were two hours, on paper, but many times Mr. Bleus would encourage students and keep them for an additional 2, 3 sometimes even 4 hours without any extra compensation. The nights before an exam were crunch times. Mr. Bleus would often allow or ask us tutors to stay up to an hour or two hours on the clock after our scheduled out times to stay and help a student to get to their optimal success. Of course we were all willing because we truly cared about what we did.Over my two years, I saw many of the students build such a dynamic relationship with Mr. Bleus and us on staff that they relied on us not only for academic help but for mentoring and life coaching. Many of the young men were groomed and encouraged by Mr. Bleus to become responsible and courageous young adults. I cannot speak highly enough of the tremendous effort our staff put in to make sure every child was taken care of and that they got to where they wanted to go.One of the biggest blessings to me is that, to this day, some of the young men that I tutored while they were in high school, are now personal brothers and confidants of mine. They started as students, but over our years at SSLC, we grew to be brothers. Two of these young men, my brothers, are now college graduates. One is entering his management program at his company and the other recently graduated with a Masters degree and is currently working on his CPA!SSLC was the place to be while I was there. I would not have traded even a moment I had at SSLC nor the tremendous memories we were able to build together. The students will always be in my heart and I am sure the impact we made with each of them will always last a lifetime-A grateful and authentic tutor

2022-04-04IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD1) The owner is a CON ARTIST!2) From the outside it seems ok, but the inside is in SHAMBLES!3) The tutors cannot control the students, once the owner comes he tries act like the boss but he is NEVER there.4) He would rather keep disruptive students then tell their parents they cant stay to increase profit.5) Once the contract is over his demeanor changes and he is completely unprofessional and rude.I DO NOT RECOMMEND !!! TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE !!!

2019-10-09We took the middle of my 3 sons to get tutored at Success Stories Learning Center because they came highly recommended. We know our son was capable of doing so much. Long story short, by the second month of being tutored at Success Stories Learning Center, we were called into the school for a revised classroom setting for our son. At Success Stories Learning Center, our son gained the love and drive for learning. Success Stories Learning Center gave our son the foundation that he needed to build on, because of the huge educational improvement, our older and younger son was enrolled at Success Learning Stories. Due to the amazing dedication to details and differentiated instructions that our sons received from the staff at Success Stories Learning Center, all three sons no longer require tutoring. For one parent to another, I will highly recommend Success Stories Learning Center to any family.Very Satisfied Parents

2021-09-21I came here in all throughout high school for help with math. For all four years they worked with me and helped me with everything I wasnt understanding in class. They even helped me study for my SAT. All the tutors here completely care about the students and that shows in the way they interact with their students including the owner who will also tutor the students. I completely recommend.

2019-10-09My daughter attended Success Stories from 2016 to 2018 for English and Math tutoring. I was very pleased with their tutoring staff and the support my daughter received while enrolled. Their tutors went above and beyond to make sure that she succeeded in her studies. The owner (Mr. Bleus) even offered us extra sessions on Saturdays at no cost because he saw my daughters potential and wanted to see her win. Fast forward to today, my daughter is in her last year of high school, and is an honor roll student. She was also encouraged by her tutor to go for an Advanced Regents Diploma. I am very thankful for this learning center and the impact it has had on my family and my daughter. I would recommend this learning center to any parent that is serious about their childrens academic growth. I will also be enrolling my younger daughter to prepare for her 1st year of Common Core exams.

2019-10-09I worked at Success Stories Learning center for over a year before I went away to graduate school. One of the best things I enjoyed while working there is the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students, I tutored those in the 1st grade in phonics and math all the way to those in College in Advanced Calculus. The students over there are always eager to learn and the staff genuinely wants to see them succeed. I was looking for a job after college and what I ended up getting a community, the staff are great and the bond that you make with the students are ever lasting. If you are looking for a tutoring center for your child, look no further than Success Stories Learning center.Success Stories Learning Center takes their time to vet their tutors, they make sure that they are proficient in a subject before they teach it. As a tutor I also received an opportunity to grow as well. In subjects where I wasnt that proficient, the learning center invested in me and help me grow and helped me become a better overall tutor. That Gap year between undergrad and graduate school that I did at Success stories learning center was one of the best experience of my life, most fulfilling.P.S. I received Tutor of the Year in 2017

2020-08-28I worked at the Success Learning Center as a tutor and it was a great experience. From my first day it was very evident that the director and staff made the children’s education and well being their top priority. I was happy to be a part of such a welcoming learning environment.

2019-12-05This facility has really helped me through many hard times while I was enrolled in High School. Before my parents signed me up for tutoring, I was struggling to get my Math grades up in Freshman year. The class felt difficult, and I didnt know if I could do it. But I can safely say after being apart of their tutoring program for 4 years, I not only did much better academically, but grew mentally as a person. I saw improvements the first month I was with them, and kept going since then. I developed grit and drive to complete my assignments, which helped me in other areas of life. The tutors were always kind and assisted me with any questions I had. Although, the place felt a bit overwhelming with the amount of students that would arrive at a certain time. Tutors were not always able to give 1 on 1 sessions with the high volume of students they had to work with. This could be an issue for some, but I made the best of it. I was also awarded Scholar of the Year at their annual event for celebrating student success. That moment forever showed me that with hard work and dedication, you can accomplish anything.
