Margarita pizza was delivered with a massive amount of tomatoes sliced up on it. Needless to say the pizza is a soupy wet mess. Slid all over the place in the box so half the pie has basically nothing on it. This is why no one makes margarita pizza this way, guys. Get with the program. This pizza would be poor quality for an airport pizza shop in Ireland. In New York City its just embarrassing.
Pretty good pizza, one of the best ones in the area. Pros - cheese and sauce were delicious. Perfectly cooked crust. Cons - sesame seeds on the crust. It’s interesting but not “real” pizza. Also, there were SO MANY toppings on the sausage and peppers half of our pizza. It was basically peppers with a little bit of pizza. It’s really good pizza but you gotta know what you’re getting into.
If you in the Sunnyside area give it a try. You will love it. I truly enjoy eating pizza from Sunnyside Pizza. In fact I must stop by and get 2 slices like 2 to 3 times a week if not more on a long week. Mike the owner is a great guy. Friendly and charming. Mike the current manager is a solid former military man that is proud of his Sicilian roots and is a great guy as well. Jocelyn at the server/register spot is super chill and adds to the friendliness of the pizza place. Sunnyside Pizza is a staple to the beautiful Queens neighborhood. The pizza selections are incredible. Best ingredients and best service. I gave it 5 start because in my humble opinion it is the tastiest pizza I have had the pleasure to eat in my 42 years of life. If you stop by and love it as much as I do. Please write your own review.
Online it says they close at 10pm and I arrived at 9pm and they were closing. They had 3 slices of pizza that were left over from the day. The lady inside offered me a free slice. I picked a slice that had a chicken and blue cheese which is something I normally would not eat, so I didnt care for it. If I had tried fresh hot pizza that I normally eat Im sure the pizza would have been much better. The employees were very friendly. I would go here again to try something when they were opening and serving fresh pizza. I recommend trying this pizza if you are near this area.
Amazing large slices worth the slight wait. A lot of interesting topping selections. They heat all the slices in the oven for you before serving. Im not usually a big fan of pizza but I really enjoyed their slices. Very cute shop with a seating area overlooking the street but kept away from the elements. I would highly recommend this to anybody passing by who is craving a slice. Love the sesame seeds on the crust.
I always rate pizza by the basic plain slice and at Sunnyside Pizza, their plain slice is a hidden gem. The pizza sauce is distinctively good as it is thick and sweet. The stretchy cheese is abundantly available with each bite. Personally I prefer my crust to be crunchy, so I always ask for it to be that way. The finishing touch is the sesame seed crust. They have other special unique slices which I did not try. Hard to rate bestpizza, but its a top 20. There is limited standing room and almost no seating as it is a hole in the wall. The folks behind the kitchen counter can try be friendlier, but I will settle for paying $2.49 for the delicious slice, and a penny for their shortcoming. Overall a happy customer!
As a neighborhood pizzeria, this is an amazing spot. They offer a garlic pie that is amazing, though will set up a shield around you from any more intimate encounters. The prices are reasonable as well and there are great regular slice options and specialty options. I would recommend going here when possible to get a taste of NYC slices
I love this place and I love the people working here!! My sister and I wanted some good pizza, and we noticed the great reviews; so we took a bus from Greenpoint to try it. I see why they have such good reviews. The pizza was TOO good, which means that I will be back very often. I love how down to earth and friendly the workers were, just truly genuine people.
I’m from Maryland and found this place online. Decided to check it out for it’s ratings while in town for work. My boyfriend and I walked all the way from Long Island City to get a slice! My one slice quickly turned into 3 slices. (I tend to eat with my eyes, a lot! Lol) I got a buffalo chicken with blue cheese slice, meatball slice and a pepperoni and mushroom slice!! Let me just tell you, all were very tasty! The buffalo chicken was my favorite! Service was quick and the girl who took our order was friendly and professional. They were even playing a little old school Cumbia in the back! Good vibes and good food. I will definitely be back for more! Keep doing what you are doing Sunnyside!!
Just had another tomato mozzarella slice and it was perfect. The crust is provably top 5 in NYC. Its covered with sesame seeds and when its heated up it gives it an extra crispy texture with a delicious sesame bread taste, and thats just the bread part. The toppings themselves are all different and creative. The shrimp slice looks super tasty which is what im looking to get next.Do yourself a favor and try their slice. It will be one of the best slices you have ever ate.
As the former elitist pizza man at sunnyside i can honestly say the kid Michael making the pizza now is my Greatest creation! But all kidding aside the pizza is phanominal! You can always tell a great pizzeria by the cheese slice and sunnysides cheese slice is fantastic! Go give Michael a visit. Hes doing an amazing job!
Although it is out of the way from where I live, it is always worth the journey coming here. The staff is cool. From just sitting down and listening in you find out the community enjoys this spot too. It is a legit hole-in-the-wall NYC pizzeria which why I enjoy it and recommend people to just grab a slice.
I always pass through this pizzeria but never had gotten the chance to go inside. I went today to get 2 slices of pizza and I was delighted. Pizza is so good. Its a have to to come to this pizzeria you enjoy every bite. I recommended 100%. Absolutely will come back. 🔥
The BEST pizza in NYC! You know a place has good pizza if even the simplest, plainest of them all - CHESSE! - is really good! I love the Nonna and the Pepperoni pizzas, but theyve got lots of different styles, always varying, always fresh. They get REALLY busy, and its usually non-stop all day long. Theyve also got Stewart sodas besides your typical Coke/Pepsi stuff. The store is tiny, maybe enough space for 4-6 to sit down, it can get tight when busy. The workers are all super nice. Sometimes they may seem grumpy, but theyre still really nice - your typical NY attitude. Dont take it personally, theyre just human! ;D It is worth the trip over to Queens for this pizza! I will always return here whenever Im back in town!
This pizza is great. I went here the other night and had a slice. The toppings are ample without going overboard. I definitely recommend the BBQ pizza, it was probably the best BBQ slice Ive ever had. My only qualm is that there is no where to sit inside, but they do offer free delivery for orders > $10.
Greatest pizza in Sunnyside and all of queensThey concentrate only on their pizza and not try to sell everything else. Their loaded slices are great. Especially the chicken parm slicesThe people are friendly especially Mike and Jocelyn. They make it so you want to go back in every day. Don’t know the chefs name but it’s unbelievable what he an so with some flour cheese and sauce. I go here almost everyday but if not 5 times a week. I recommend this place for everyone. Me and my wife are regulars and will always beThank you Sunnyside pizza for showing us what pizza is supposed to taste and look likeRespectfullyJustina and Robert
Yes, there’s sesame seeds on the crust which is a nice touch when you reach the end of a slice. I don’t remember when or where I last had seeds of any kind on a pizza crust.I paid $17 for a large cheese pie. I ordered light cheese or half the usual amount and it was perfect. I can’t imagine the cheese pile if I hadn’t asked for the reduction. This isn’t a sit down place due to the “hole-in-the-wall” architecture. There are plenty of topping choices and specialty slices. If you go during non rush hour times, you may get a parking spot nearby. If not, make it a bank job kind of run and bring a getaway driver. They accept credit cards which helps those of us who hoard cash.
We read the great reviews and visited after a busy day of sightseeing in NYC. Staff were friendly and helpful even when we couldnt decide whether to get pizzas or slices. We chose 2 slices each (this was 7pm and wed had no lunch). Can recommend the BB Q chicken, mushroom, chicken and broccoli, sausage + sweet chilli sauce, and the margarita.
We werent even hungry but we loved it! The crust has sesame seeds so its super crunchy! Best pizza we had ever had!😋👍🏻The only down side is its dirty and crowded.😪 But I would definitely recommend and come back but take a take out. Also its messy get napkins. The staff are really hard working and nice 👍🏻
This is my absolute favorite pizza place in NYC. By far, the best Buffalo Chicken Pizza I have tasted. The BBQ pizza is also incredible. The store itself doesnt have a seating area, but it makes up for this by remembering their customers. I leave the city all the time and every time I come back, they recognize me, just from my half and half BBQ/Buffalo order :)
I have tried almost all the pizzeria in sunnyside neighborhood. My first time trying the sunnyside pizza and I was glad making the trip here to order some pies.Their pizza isnt cheap but worth the price youre paying for. I ordered the spinach pizza which I believe it was $24 also order the buffalo chicken pizza with blue cheese crumble which was $30 something. They are not stingy with the toppings like other places. Their spinach pizza & buffalo chicken looks delicious, worth the price & worth the picture.I was going through their menu in the morning I wanted to try either bbq chicken or buffalo chicken so just went with buffalo chicken. Next time I will try their bbq chicken it looks amazing on Yelp pictures. The lady I spoked with on the phone was very nice which is a big plus. Overall sunnyside pizza will be on my number 1 list for pizzas. There are few seats with a stand. Its pretty a small store so its mostly like a take out place. An update after I tried to the pizza. I had to lower 1 star its because it was way too salty and heavy for me to even eat one slice of pizza. Trying to make customer happy but overwhelming on the pizza is JUST TOO MUCH.
Excellent New York pizza. We love the Garlic Pie and the Grandma. The rolls are pricey at $8-10 but huge, about 50% larger than normal. Ive had the chicken roll and the sausage roll, both I ordered without cheese and were excellent. The garlic knots are good too. A bit doughy, heavy on garlic, nice. Not necessarily travel-out-of-your-way worthy, but if you live in LIC, Sunnyside, or Astoria, this is a go-to.
While places like Rosas Pizza may have the best square slice in Queens, Sunnyside Pizza is definitely one of the best regular slices in New York City. Ive always heard of this place, but I regret that 6 years ago was the first time I tried their Pizza. It makes me feel like a kid again kind of like that Ratatouille moment lol. Its so good. You will feel like youre on a subway though lol because while their pizza is very good to enjoy right there, theres barely any room to stand let alone sit which is really the only negative of this gem of an establishment which has been serving the neighborhood for decades. This is the kind of pizza you drive far for. Enjoy guys.Like if you found this comment helpful.
Ive gotten a slice here a couple of times, and its fine. The crust is always a little soggy or doughy, the toppings tend to be oddly greasy — like, why put breaded chicken on the pizza and not just regular chicken? — and its probably a little pricey for the quality. But itll do when its late and youre hungry.
Living in a city of millions of people, one can often feel isolated, solo, on guard. Walk into Sunnyside Pizza - youre part of their family. Takes me by surprise every time. And their pizza - the best in the neighborhood. Two slices make for a (excellent) meal and a half. Did I mention theyre good people? Already feeling nostalgic about them as Ill be moving away from NYC. Not often you find a place like this.
I like the pizza, I really do, but I really don’t like them touching the money, the cashier machine, and then grabbing the whole plate(not the edge, the center as well almost) and then touch my pizza.I see the guys coming from outside and then just lay their hands on the dough with out washing hands sometimes. You could say the oven bakes the bacterias, but the contact was after my pizza was taken out of the oven.Sorry I have to be that annoying neighbor to post this. I just wanna raise a tiny bit of awareness.I mean, you wouldn’t feel good if you go to the hospital to do a clean invasive procedure, and the healthcare workers just come in to touch you without washing their hands, right?
Recently my boyfriend and I went in to buy a slice and everything seemed cool until the dude (younger looking guy maybe late 20s) taking orders opened his mouth. He saw me paying for two slices and he started bashing my boyfriend for not paying for our food. Like did he really have to say that? My boyfriend didnt notice but i told him to take his pizza to go because the guy kept talking about my boyfriend even after i was done paying. You dont have to comment about our life when you dont even know us, I like to treat my boyfriend sometimes even if its just a slice of pizza so im sorry if youre not as opened minded as other normal people but females can pay for guys too.
I use to get pizza here. But these last couple weeks i been passing by walking my dog and i notice that none of the cooks didnt have a mask on, not ever a plexi glass to protect them from the everyone. This is way the number keep going up. Places like this. I dont know if they think that they wouldnt get covid-19 because everyone else has their mask or maybe they think its over. But i would not be buying anything from this place again
A very good pizza though it could have been crispier. They didnt give us the right order, but they made it right. They told us after they came the second time that they pre-made their Margherita pizza, which is what we wanted. Had we known that we would have stuck with what they originally brought us. Because of this the pizza was very soggy. Sucks because it would have been great fresh, Im sure.
Pizza is ok, definitely not the best in sunnyside, sunnyside pizza is average at best in taste, Lenny’s is the best. All these reviews I see with 5 stars obviously haven’t tried the best pizza in NYC so I can tell people really don’t know how a rating system works. You can’t rate something 100 because if you find something better than what is that rating!!
The pizza quality have gone really bad. I ordered the slices of different toppings all the of them were old and stale and there was a smell of old oil in eggplant parmesan pizza. Even theplain pizza tasted old and unappetizing. Hope they bring their quality bask. Even most of thestaff changed here. They are much friendly but quality have gone down which is no good.
Although the place might not be the prettiest it looks pretty beat down but the pizza is amazing and great service here at a good price. I cant say the same about Lombardis although all the hype about it cause its so historical theyre pizza sucks and youll pay more than two times the price you pay here.
The people who work at this divine establishment as simply angels in disguise. Rather than look down on us mortals for our flawed existences, they seek to comfort us with what can only be described as some of the best pizza in all of NYC. Who knew that chicken parmesan pizza was a food straight from the heavens?
Googles fault or just bad pizza.Who says best pizza in sunnyside??? , im sorry to say it but it was bad. I went online searching for best pizza in Snnysd. This one came up, so i called asking for half veggie and half margherita( firs gentelman that anwered was really nice than the phone got cut, i called again and a rude guy picks up and i start ordering when again phone conection was bad nd he hanged up. I call again 3rd time already, finnaly gets my order and at the end, of course i said Thank You, his answer. 40 to 45 min and hangs up.I was already thinking hope that the pizza is good. Well it wasnt, soft ,,crust, the sides were crispy, the margherita part of my half had slices of tomato nd a cheap smelly cheese(guess it was mozzarela) but the cheapest. My wifes half had plenty of veggies falling from the crust.Never again. Nonna Gina had good pizza. This was a joke.

2022-05-10Lived in the area for about 3 years and decided to randomly stop by for a bite. Did not disappoint! Small shop, friendly, and tasty pizza. Our slices had the right amount of crisp, cheese and great sauce. Look here if you want a true traditional NY slice. Definitely going back.

2022-05-20They gave me the wrong order, wanted to charge more for their mess up. Staff is as backwards as it gets, but hey their pizza isn’t bad, overpriced but not bad. Still 1 star for lack of common sense.

2022-04-02This pizza tastes amazing!Love the sesame borders (beware of those unfortunate souls who are allergic to sesame)They put a lot of toppings. Unlike other places that put just enough topping to make it pretty for your eyes, but not enough enticing for your appetite to love it.One disappointment was one night that I called around 8pm and they were closing... on a Friday night! They really need to be more competitive considering that there are a dominos and a papajhons nearby

2020-09-29Sunnyside pizza is one of the 3 best pizza places in the Burroughs. Perfect slice of napolitan... Done exactly the way it should be. If you havent been there yet... Go. Its right up there with NewPark in Howard Beach and NY Pizza Suprema in NYC. It is tiny in there... Im not kidding... You can only fit about 3 people at the counter shoulder to shoulder... However there is an indoor outdoor counter that has 2 or 3 bar stools where you can enjoy your slice. Dont let the size of this place deter you... Their slice is absolutey worth it. Plus their owner is a super nice guy... And always looks happy to be doing what he does!

2021-06-22Best pizza around. I come from Woodside just to get a slice. It taste just the way my grandma makes it. Everytime i take i bite i fall back into a spiral of endless confusion. The only thing that brings me back to life is water. If you are having a bad day forget the ice cream and just come here!!

2022-03-27Love this pizzeria, everytime I visit new york city now adays Ill just order a cheese pie to go, a bit pricey but well worth it.
