Stayed here one night, and Red Carpet Inn in Horseheads the night before. Both were supposed to be inexpensive. Comparable rooms. The woman at Sunrise gave me a fair amount of attitude, a surprising amount. She charged me an extra $10 for the dog, which is OK I guess, then threatened to charge me another $50 if I didnt clean up after the dog. She told me not to make too much noise, and in general just gave attitude. The inexpensive room turned into nearly $80 after she finished upcharging me for all the fees etc. For $80, I can find a nicer, cleaner room without the attitude. Paint falling off in bathroom and door, older room that hasnt been updated in a very long time, sheets bit on the threadbare side, stained carpets. We dont have high expectations for the room, I wouldnt have bothered with the review if it hadnt been for the attitude. Motel 6 doesnt charge extra for dogs and has nicer rooms for the same or less cost--and hospitality. I woulda driven farther for the Red Carpet--cheaper similar, maybe slightly nicer room, for less money.
The place was nice enough and clean. The man at the front desk was very friendly. The shower didnt have a lot of water pressure and the air conditioner was really loud. But, it was a decent place to stay for the price.
The new owners maintain the property very well , neat and clean. They provide great customer service. They also serve breakfast and coffee in the morning which was not served earlier. Its a good quiet and affordable place to visit. Had a great experience.
Dirty and smelly place. Heating is not working properly. We got cold during the night. Widows are broken. Dusty everything including table lamps, chairs and tables. I had worst breakfast ever. Not recommending this place to anyone.
They failed to reserve the room type I requested, and they said they had; the tv did not work; the mini-fridge was placed on a suitcase rest with no outlet nearby; the internet they assured me they had was largely non-functional. Almost a one star rating.
Staying at the Sunrise Motel for the dog shows, a very decent place to stay, very old school, with nice staff. This is a dated motel, but the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked, and the shower was refreshing. We will stay there again!
Found this hotel to be very old and run down. Sheets were old and thin, room smelled, beds were horrible, bathroom was closet sized and run down. Fridge not only unplugged but used the luggage rack as a stand so people staying had no fridge and no place to put your luggage on except the dresser. Furniture old and scuffed up with what looked like an outdoor patio carpet for flooring. I found the owner to be very nice but clearly nothing has been done except patching up a room from the 70s or 80s. I was a bit annoyed that the owners displayed a big AAA sign on the road but gave no AAA discount, not sure AAA would take kindly to that. This room needed to be completely gutted and renovated 10 years ago. If you dont have many standards for a place to stay, all the hotels in the area are booked and you dont want to sleep in your car then this would be your place !
Negative: We booked and stayed for 2 nights. Beds were not made, nor were towels replaced after the first night. Coffee was supposed to be made available for 7 am, but nothing ready until at least 7:15.
Stayed here for several months while out of town working great friendly owners and decent rooms
Rooms were very run down and in need of repairs and cleaning. Ceiling was cracked all over, carpets very dirty and looked to have mold in corners. The worst part was we found a used band aid on the sheets and the mattress/box spring looked to have blood splatter!!!
Was there a year ago. AWFUL place. Dirty carpet, rusty water coming from sink, smelled musty in the room, I was sorry I stopped there but since we drove 12 hours we had to stop. Very happy to GET OUTTA there the next morning. DONT STOP HERE PEOPLE.
Not too shabby. Great location. Id recommend it and will look forward to staying again soon.
Terrible terrible place. Not wheelchair accessible and turned me and my service dog away in favor of another customer who emailed them as I was confirming my own reservation with a credit card. Not nice, not kind, not compassionate, not merciful.
Wasnt such a great experience booking a room here... Ended up sleeping in my car and being charged for it....

After New owner the property is very well mentained and one of the best guest friendly approch by the owners and the staff.We will be there again and again.

2022-05-21When we got here they told us they gave the room away to someone else because we didnt need two beds, then tried to charge us more than what we originally paid. The room is pretty gross as well. Its probably even on the lower end of pay by the hour standards.

2021-10-08The room was disgustingly dirty as was the bathroom. We had no washcloths.Air conditioner needs a good cleaning, vents are covered in dust.The cost of the room was very reasonable, about half of what your big named motels are.The saving grace is that the clerk was very friendly.Most likely won’t be staying there again.

2021-07-26It worked in a pinch. Most of the staff was nice and friendly. The man that I assume does maintenance was outside late at night arguing with his girlfriend which is not professional at all. The room itself is not worth the amount they charge. Out dated! The bathroom was the worst the sink drained slow and idk what was coming up. The toilet half the time didnt flush. The shower was the worst my 5 year old refused to shower there it was dark and dirty. It worked for what we needed it for though.

2021-08-27Fist off thw room was not clean the bed sheets were dirty and in the middle of the night i started to feel like burning on my deet and legs. Pulled the blankets off to discover i was bitten by multiple bed bugs. I immidietly ripped the sheets off and found the source of the problem on the mattress seam. The bathrom sink doesnt have hot water. No towel were left for us to shower. Not that it matter we left and slept in the car because we couldnt sleep getting bitten by bed bugs *DONT STAY HERE * theres a holiday in 10 mins from them.

2021-04-03I was here for a couple weeks. Absolutely horrendous! Horrible owner does not wash bedding or towels i got dirty linen constantly and they would not allow to get new sheets or pillows or comforter so I had to purchase my own. Also cockroach infestations almost every other month. They had multiple rooms closed due to exterminators being there.

2019-10-13Positive: The booking process was simple and straightforward.. Negative: The room was very dated and not very clean. The shower backed up, had weak pressure and it was difficult to get it to the right temperature, so my wife and kids didn’t use it the whole trip. The motel needs a makeover, which may not be cost- effective based on the location. Maybe start by getting rid of the old, nasty bedspreads and invest in better towels, soap, shampoo, etc..

2019-06-27This motel is one of the best motels I have ever been to! The rooms are very clean and tidy. The location of the motel let’s you have a quiet stay. To top it all off, the new staff is very friendly and professional. The new staff even serves breakfast! They serve pastries, fresh coffee and fresh fruits. Overall, this is a great motel which I would love to visit again.

2018-01-24Moderate settings. If you can call a couple of dollar store candy breakfast, then that is their breakfast, unusable wifi, white iron in shower water, instead of clean you it will create a layer of iron on your skin and hair, AND BEDBUGS!! I have read in certain reviews from 2014 that they have bedbugs. I expected they might have taken care of by 2017 but I was wrong. I stayed there in mid-2017 and found them still thriving, possibly infested all the rooms they have. However, they charged 78 bucks for all those which is way higher than way cleaner and better Econo Lodge where I stayed the next night.
