Went with my kids and so happy we did. They have food, Ice cream, popcorn you name it. They had swings for the littles ones and the owners were supper nice. I can’t wait to take the kids again. The place is super big, very family friendly and clean. The bathrooms were also clean and walking distance not too far(there actually in the middle of the park next to the food and popcorn)making it supper convenient. They keep the restaurant open late so I thought it was really nice. It seems this place really cares about their customers. They even had someone ask for coffee and brewed it right then and there because they had none brewed at the time and it was late(before second movie at 11 pm). I was seriously supper impressed and it was an easy drive from where we live. We will definitely be going again soon and supporting this local business. Thank you Sunset Drive-In for our first and awesome experience at a drive-in. 💕
The screens are dirty and stained. Furthermore they are not flat. They are made from ridged steel roof paneling. Looks stupid and distracting. Sound quality is garbage, only right channel audio. Left channel is nearly non existent. If thats not bad enough, the channels are switched, things happening on the left of the screen come out the right speakers. Its almost as if the person in charge doesnt know what they are doing. Because they dont. Movies are in surround sound for a reason. It makes it better. Sound quality is also garbage. Every loud scene is filled with scratching noises. Bathrooms nasty.
This was my first time visiting. I was not sure what to expect but I had a great experience. The movie and audio quality was great. I really liked the choice of retro movies. The lawn / car area was clean. We went to concessions and we were happy to see most people practicing social distancing. There was some plexi glass up. The food was great. My son and I binged on popcorn, pizza logs, cotton candy, and candy. We got a slice of pizza and I wasnt a huge fan but Im particular about pizza so it might have just been me. I wish I would have been going here my whole life. I love the size ..its kind of far for us but its perfect size and not too crowded.
Ive been coming here since the sixtys! I loved Marios mother! Id tell my parents I had to use the bathroom and Id go in the diner to see the fish and monkey . In the seventies it was a favorite place to take a date. NOw in the 21st century I try to keep my grandkids interested in the Sunset!
Its the only drive-in I know of, and their food is excellent too. We ordered wings and french fries and they were delicious. Their ice cream is the best part of the whole place though. They have more flavors than any place Ive ever been. Wish we had better sound in our vehicle, because the sound was in sync and transmitted great through the radio. My only complaint would be that I wished the screen was brighter at certain times. Also, they have some funny graffiti in the mens bathroom lol
Family friendly, small, old fashioned restaurant. While it has seen better days, the owners are beyond friendly along with the fun ice cream stand and small arcade for those who dont want to enjoy the playground.Just watch out for the 5-10~ minute lapse on sunset for watching the first movie. On clear days the back screens can be washed out a bit from the sun setting behind you. They are pretty good on it so it doesnt happen often.
The quality of the projector is top notch. The field you park in has old-fashioned inclines so you can get a great view of the screen without straining your neck. The price is fantastic for a double feature, and the concessions stand stays open late so you can get popcorn, hot dogs, etc. all night long.
Love the location and the food but sound quality is always poor at best ( left channel sound quality poor and almost not there ) picture is sometimes not fully focused. The owners have been told on more than one occasion but act as if I dont know what Im talking about? But its a nice clean place with pretty decent food and old school feel..
It is a small family run drive-in and takes you back to when you were a kid yourself and life was much simpler. Going to the playground playing before the movies started. We got popcorn and drinks and thought the prices were reasonable. I would recommend the Sunset drive-in to anyone looking for a different experience than going to the high priced theaters. Lets patronize local businesses to keep them open in our towns.
This place used to be so remarkable. Now it is a shadow of its former self. The family that owns and runs this establishment must of forgot the definition of a hospitality. They make you feel that it is a inconvenience for you to spend your money with them. Dont expect I need good customer service do not expect there to be an arcade anymore do not expect to have a cool old fashioned ice cream parlor everything is gone. Do not waste your money.
Love this drive in!!.. BUT the owner is very rude, and its sad because without his arrogance and feelings that everyone wants to rip him off in some way, even when you have have been a PAYING customer for YEARS!!!...he still will treat you as you have not been. Without him, its a great place, even if the pizza is terrible, Id recommend it to most around.
There isnt a better drive in. I am aware of how popular the Transit Drive In is but it just isnt as good as Sunset. Sunset is on a less busy road, surrounded by trees and foliage. Oh and theres actual grass instead of just dirt and rocks. Theres a playground under screen 1 for kids before/in-between movies. They have a FULL restaurant thats has good food for great prices. And a full ice cream shop as well. They dont invade your privacy and as long as you arent causing an issue they just leave you alone to enjoy the movies. Well worth the extra 20 minute drive to go to a far superior drive in. Its the only one that gets my business.
Always enjoy Sunset Drive In. Every summer we look forward to many times there...great times. Its very close to home and is one of the nicest places to spend an evening...going early and watching kids play on the swings, as ours did for so many years. I dont care if they look in my trunk, and we always feel we get our monies worth. The line isnt that long to wait in....like it is at Transit Drive In. And the owners are friendly and make us feel at home. It takes me back to my youth in Jamestown, NY and go I g to the drive in there...45 years ago. Its still a pleasure to do.
We went here with a group. We called ahead to see if we could reserve some spots. We were told to rope a few spots off the day we arrived. We did and we were told we werent allowed to do that. We took them down.I went to order a burger and fries. I waiting over 45 minutes ... I missed the time to hang out with our group because it took over 45 minutes to make a burger and fry... my husbands pizza was done well before mine.Unfortunately, we wanted to like this establishment and heard good things but well be sticking with transit drive in.
Give Sunset Your Patronage!A family owned drive-in and VERY COSTLY to run! They are trying their best and have given my family the only way we can afford to get out and enjoy the evening!Yes, they must improve the cleanliness of the restrooms. If I had the money I and my wife would provide the funds for it. The cost to convert to digital cost them more than they will make back within their lifetime! They are a GREAT Positive for such a poor and job-lacking area! Please support them and bring a lot of hand sanitizer!Really, this Drive-In is a blessing to the folks within WNY area. Support them! Thanks!
So sad to share a mediocre review, but, went to see Secret Life of Pets 2 and they were experiencing severe technical difficulty with the audio. After almost an hour of trying with a restart of the movie, we were refunded our money. They seemed overwhelmed with food orders as well as our pizza toppings were wrong and concession time was 45 minutes wait time. Another negative was a change with moving the ice cream dispensing in the concession area. It was too congested and confusing for patrons. Better to have left well enough alone with the ice cream shop at the front. Good luck with the remainder of the season Sunset! 😔
3 screens. 2 movies on each screen every night. You can switch screens to see a diff movie, if desired. Sound is through your radio so you control the volume and there is no static. Sit in car or in front of car. Full service restaurant is always busiest on Friday & Saturday. Full serve ice-cream shop out front on main road, and an old vintage playground.
Most people giving good reveiws are filled with nostalgia and memorys or childhood, i am not. This place is awful. They start the movie an hour too earlier every time without failure so u cant see the movie. They litteraly do not clean the batbrooms. Ever. The floor under the urinals is so erroded there is a divit. It smells so bad I gagged, seriously. There is so much trash carved and written on the wall. I wouldnt dare go in the stalls, keep in mind this is just near the urinals. They have a rule where your not allowed to park in front row if you have a bigger vehicle. This is not enforced from what i can see. Overall experience was bad continually whenever we came here. A shame As well.

2022-06-10Not sure where these recent reviews came from but this place is CLOSED and up for sale after 72 years in business. They were one of the best Drive-In Theatres around, went there for years. Had very good food as well.

2022-05-29A perfect Drive in movie theater ! Nostalgia for the days of a Drive in experience. Food is priced normal too and not a rip off like many theaters. A Drive in is my favorite way to watch a movie. Thank you Sunset Drive in !

2017-07-16Excellent drive-in! But like all drive-ins they suffer with a good picture for dark colored movies. They have the digital projectors so the picture is really nice and you cant beat the price. Took my family of 4 and tickets were $31, and thats for 2 movies. And unlike most movie houses, the snack bar is reasonably priced! The only other bummer is that they allow smoking so the movie can get uncomfortable at times.

2021-10-21It is so amazing to be able to experience drive in movies and Sunset is a perfect place for that. It is very cute with a nice diner where you can get delicious food. We always enjoy to go there on summers for movies.

2021-08-25Good old fashion drive in, i had to rent a radio because my car turns itself off after 10 minutes. Rental radio was $5 and had to give my license as collateral until i returned it. Lady at the snack bar even tuned it to the correct screen for me so it was good to go! Tickets were also cheaper than most theaters and snacks are reasonably priced, highly recommend!

2021-08-31It’s a bit of a hike if you’re coming from Buffalo, but well worth it. Only 3 theaters, but you can change movies once you’re in. So for example if you decide you want to see the first movie on screen 1 and the second on screen 3, just tell them and when you switch, if the other movie is still playing, keep your lights off. Also their diner is fully 50s. Arcade games are available, as well as great diner food. There are signs about the history of the place, and they opened an ice cream shop in front of screen 1 in the last few years.
