Rooms filthy, unbelievably poor service. When checking in, was assigned a room that was used and had not been cleaned. Asked for a new room and was told they had none available- the best they could offer was a room that was filthy but had a single unused bed. It was 3 am so I had no choice but to take it. I was on a business trip and had only 5 hours to sleep so going somewhere else was out of the question. In the morning- the manager refused to offer a refund so I had no choice but to file a chargeback. Unbelievably poor service.
Obviously, you don’t expect the Ritz when you stop into a motel off the Thruway. However, it was clean and comfortable which is one appreciates greatly when one checks into a place out of sheer exhaustion. The room was neat and clean - I checked the sheets and mattress before getting into bed.BTW, the sheets were amazingly comfortable - as comfortable as linen - light, yet with a soft, almost flannel texture on one side. I wish I could get a set or two for myself!
Positive: Sucked. Totally sucked. The staff was rude and uncaring to the point of being unbearable. I am a disabled person, literally I¿m on Social Security Disability. They would not lift a finger. Things in the room that you would take for granted didn¿t wo Negative: It was hell. I was in pain and nobody cared even though the requests I made were totally in line with other hotels.
Worst night sleep of my life. Someone partying and being completely obnoxious in the room next door, blasting music and slamming doors, waking me up the entire night. Called front desk, they stopped them once, then they kept doing it all throughout the night. Had do not disturb on the door but of course when housekeeping came around they came and banged on the door and woke me up too. I wouldve been better off sleeping in my car.Edit: Added one star because they discounted $20 off the bill. It seems like the problem guests moved from room to room. They shouldve been kicked out sooner. I dont know why you wouldnt get rid of someone like that when a guest complains at 4am about excessive noise, and youve already gotten complaints about them since 10:30pm...
The room was comfortable and it was very nice having a heated bathroom! The heat was easy to adjust in the room. I am saying this because we stayed at a different hotel in a different town where this was not the case. The owner was very kind to us as I had reserved the wrong dates and found out after the dates had passed. He let us stay there without charging us again. They are friendly and accomodating.
Price is fair. Room seemed very up to date & clean. Had everything I needed for a 1 overnight business trip, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee pot, desk. Beds & pillows were very comfortable. Both the gentleman who checked me in on 1/12 & who checked me out on 1/13 were very polite and pleasant. Theres also a nice big lot that you can park a commercial vehicle
There were All Guys that live there, Some how we were put right next to them. I didnt sleep all night the music was on all night long and loud and then they started at 7:00 in the morning loud music party and drinking screaming yelling. Keeping us up all night long.. I went to get coffee and Tea, every thing was nast it , was like a little kid came and touched everything it was all sticky.
My husband left his glasses and the staff was kind enough to go above and beyond to find her number and call us and let us know they were there! This kind of customer service is some thing unfortunately you don’t see anymore so it’s very appreciated. Definitely stay at this place it’s clean it’s comfortable and the staff goes out of their way!
I’m in a hotel room, at least 3 nights a week. After many bad stays, Super 8 had become a “only as a last resort” option. This one, though, gets a favorite star, on my Wyndham app. The staff is great, my room, (101), was better than a lot of the pricier hotels I’ve stayed in, and the bed was very comfortable. I’ll stay here again.
I checked in yesterday 10/09.>They had rooms available>The outer appearance is nicely maintenance and welcoming>Most importantly they had actual TRACTOR TRUCK AND TRAILER PARKING!The rooms are exactly like the pics:>They are clean>The air is fresh> The Rooms are well maintained for a two-star hotel (you can tell management and workers care about the up-keep of there facility)I went up to the Quality Inn just ways from this location who charges almost double the price and the Quality is right here at the Super8 for almost half their price.I’m happy I made the decision to stop here to rest from long hours over the road.
Says two star, but they give you a 5 star treatment. Traveling across the country non stop for business, I have seen a lot of hotels, and the management and staff really keep the place clean and cater to their customers. Reminds me of being back in Texas. The wifi service is great, breakfast, cable, clean rooms smoke free, and personable people. I will definitely stay here if Im in the New York area again!Thank you to the entire staff for an amazing stay! Hope to chat with you all again. Godbless
Super 8 in Amsterdam NY is a very clean, quiet, convenient place to stay. The staff are friendly, courteous and ready to help out in any way they can. I recommend that anyone stay here for one night or many nights. I love that each room comes with a microwave and mini fridge with a freezer. I will always stay here everytime I visit the area.
I came up to Amsterdam last weekend for a quick overnight trip to see some trains in the area. I was able to book a room at the Super 8 on short notice, and found a hassle-free, quick check-in when I arrived to stay the night. The room was very clean and comfortable, and service at the front desk was excellent. The rates were very good, especially considering my last minute booking. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who needs to stay in the Amsterdam area.
I enjoyed my stay for the 10 hours I spent there, even though I was disappointed that there was no breakfast as advertised. But what made me write a review was that today, after leaving, I discovered that I was riddled with big splotchy bite marks, that appeared to be bed bug bites. I wouldnt recommend staying here if you dont enjoy itching and bleeding and worrying about bringing bugs home. The mirror in the bathroom was cool though..
Close to Thruway lots of parking for trucks rooms are clean, rates are great the staff is very helpful beds are very comfortable ie you don’t roll into the center of the mattress because of a valley down the center, it has areas around outside of building designed for smoking or visiting with other people.
Its basic, clean, friendly and comfortable. TVs are big, no bugs or slugs in bed. Amenities are fine. My only concern was exchanging laundered but stained washcloth and towel. Staff was courteous and fun. If you smoke, enjoy meeting fellow guests on the benches in the evening.
I was warmly greeted by a personable desk man on a very cold evening and promptly booked into a room. The room was extremely clean and quiet, despite facing the highway. Bed was very comfortable. I have stayed here before, years ago, and came back because of that experience. If I am in the area again, this Super8 will be my first choice
Unforeseen circumstances at work necessitated a stop overnight before moving on down the road.Ending up staying here last night in a 2nd floor room with 2 Full beds. It was respectably clean, well-lit, and for my intents and purposes comfortable.I would stay here again if need be. Desk staff were pleasant.Adequate parking and plenty of spaces for semi-trucks, and travel trailers.A good option for the price.
Me and my co worker has reservations at this motel and we thought not bad! Read the reviews nothing fancy but OK too stay the night.... Well no! They have BED BUGS!!! This guy was just crawling on the top of the bed in clear sight. Staff was friendly and try to be accommodating but lets be real. I would never stay there! This was in room 126 right down the hall from the check in desk.
Whom it may concern ,I stayed at your hotel from 6/21 to 6/24 .During my stay on 6/23 housekeeping came in to clean the room and took my bag of cloths i had sitting in a bag . Honest mistake . But the management staff was not wanting to help me resolve this issue I wanted it resolved as I was leaving the very next day at 6:00 a.m. to drive 900 miles they did not seemed very concerned with it and I asked if they could call the cleaning lady just to ask her they said it was too late it was only 11 oclock that was after being told much earlier I had to wait till 11 till somebody came in the building that knew more about it your customer satisfaction is getting a 0 it is very poor the attitudes were very poor I will never stay in one of your facilities nor will anybody I know is I will tell them about this incident. This whole time this was the hotels mistake not mine but you want to make me have to do everything to recover my clothes I think the hotel is responsible for getting those close to me I live 900 miles away you need to send those close to me as there is no way I am going to be able to get over there and get them use your head be smart think once in a while and try to make customers happy thats what gives you a good customer satisfaction rating I deal with people every day and I would never treat them the way we were treated you have a lot of work and improving to do. During this time I kept my cool because I wanted to really show out but I did because I understand mistakes are made but its all in how you react to a mistake we are all human but when you act snarky and rude to customers issues do not get resolved. As far as the rooms are concerned the room was nice it was playing and it had decent amenities that was nice they did have a little breakfast which was nice but the management team has much to be improved on.Rob Huston
The worst motel I have ever stayed in!!! The sheets were dirty, the bathroom looked like it had not been scrubbed for a century. I often travel for business. For security reasons I asked to stay on the second floor. I was woken in the middle of the night by someone trying to enter my room. The attendant downstairs was not really concerned of my safety at all. I honestly think he gave my extra room card to them. Good thing I had the security locks on the door. Our options for the breakfast in the morning was stale cereal. I checked out and went to Panera. Do yourself a favor and dont stay here!!!
Rooms were exceptionally clean and service was impeccable. I consider myself to be on the fussy side but was pleased with the room. Well worth the price. My advice to other reviewers, if you want a five star hotel go pay for it. Here you will find a comfortable and clean room just mildly outdated but that is reflected in the price. Again excellent service.
Not luxury accommodations, but you dont expect it to be. Fantastic basic lodging when you are travelling. Rooms recently renovated, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Plenty of water pressure and hot water. Have stayed here twice recently, and wont hesitate to do so again.
Manager/owner is very nice and takes care of any problem as they arise. No complaints from him or any else at this hotel except for the woman at the front desk. Ive been travelling for 95% of the year for the last 6 years. Stayed in many hotels and have never yet met a front desk assistant that was so rude. Hope management fixes this.
It was fabulous!! The Doobie Brothers opened, and were great. Santana was awesome. I would not give the venue a 5 star rating. It was hard dirt, and the chair rentals were very low to the ground. My friend had to return her chair because it had something disgusting all over the seat!! There were more beer vendors than anything else. The lemonade was $10 for a medium sized drink. Bottled water was $5. And there was only one vendor offering water. All in all, we had a great time except for the issues I mentioned. If there is a band I would love to hear, I would go to SPAC again, but just know yo bring my own chair and drink.
Not as pleasant an experience as some. The manager made an error on our reservation. We did not receive a confirmation e-mail. The reservation was for 1 night for 2 people. When we looked at our receipt we realized he booked us for 1 person for 2 nights. He transposed the numbers, easy mistake. When we insisted we did not book for 2 nights, he became irate and accused us of not wanting to pay (?)! He became loud and irate and told us he does not make errors. OK.....When other guests arrived, he toned down his voice so as not to cause a scene. If you must book here, please make sure your reservation is confirmed and is correct. Oh, and he did NOT reverse the credit charge for the night we did not stay (his error). He told us he would lose his job. He did offer a 40% discount leaving us to pay for a night we did not stay and in fact, did not book. Be careful if you book a reservation here.
By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed out does not even Deserve 1 * star. Just look at my pictures the bathroom had mold in it ,the breakfast in the morning was eggs in the refrigerator that you warmed up in the microwave no bacon no sausage nothing hot they had two different types of Cold Cereal Corn Flakes and raisin bran and they ran out of Raisin Bran in mixed in the Corn Flakes like nobody would notice but I did because I dont like corn flakes I give this hotel the crappiest review ever I would rather have stayed at a dive bar in a alley
We are riding the Erie Canal bike trail from Buffalo to Albany. This was 1 of 2 motels available according to the guide book. It is non smoking . Clean but I did not soak in the tub! Shower worked well. It is an old motel. The diner next to it is defunct. Order in ( pizza). Slim breakfast, but you can make it work. An inexpensive stay in a string of hotels along our way. People were really nice. Again, clean, non smoking motel and inexpensive.
If I could give a 0 I would. After being unjustly kicked out of the Knights Inn, I made a reservation at Super 8 through Hotels.com. After an abusive & impatient taxi drive there, even though the room was paid for, the manager decided I was too much trouble since I had lost my debit card & my CC was declined. Wont ever be staying there again or anywhere near Amsterdam or Fultonville. Its like a weird rude technologically challenged bermuda triangle. Its called common human decency and customer service. Perhaps youve heard of it.
It was OK for a night, not sleazy or full of druggies like some Super 8s I have been in. Flies and a spider in room. Shower had mold. Air coming from AC was stale, moldy smelling. Slim picking for breakfast, but the coffee was ok. Not much in the way of food nearby, so we got a cab to take us to a nice place. Staff was friendly and very helpful in finding us a cab. If you can afford The Castle, that is the best bet in Amsterdam. Otherwise, this is next.Update: we met some other cyclists on the trail who stayed at The Castle. They said it was horrible for $200+ per night. So, the Super 8 sounds like the best bet in Amsterdam.
Even though the rooms here are decent, the staff are not. First $300 was stolen, and a wallet with all our cards and socials in it. We had to replace everything. They wouldnt help us get to the bottom of it even though we asked for help repeatedly. Then we refused housekeeping because of that. We didnt want anyone in there if we werent there because our things had been stolen. We filed a police report. My children and I were treated poorly today as we were attempting to check out(8/3/2018). My wife and I had experienced some slick gay-bashing comments while here, but we ignored them.😫😤 My wife had to be at work early in the morning, around 7am, so she asked me to come to her room and pack her things to take them home. Check out was at 11. I received a call at 10:50-10:55. She stated that the manager wanted me and the children (7 and 10) to vacate the premises. I replied Okay. I am almost done packing and need just a little longer. My wife is at work and my disability hinders me from bending and moving too quickly. But we will be out of yalls hair shortly. The lady got snippy with me and told me I needed to put my stuff outside. I told her they would just have to wait. We had the door open while we packed. So clearly we werent held up in the room. The manager kept coming to the room rushing us even though he saw we were doing our best. He kept getting closer to me at one point, shouting at me about housekeeping and they hadnt even finished the other rooms they had. I told him per my disability that he was triggering me and to please remove himself from my space. He didnt😓. After he left, one Hispanic lady told me I didnt have to rush and that it was okay. We stripped the beds and the 10 yr old put the linen on the bathroom floor. I wiped down the tables, window sill and sink. Took out all the trash and put arm and hammer carpet powder down. (Firstly Because there was an oder in the room when my wife first got to that room. Secondly, my 10yr old baby brother is autistic. Due to that, he sometimes cannot control his bm or bladder. I figured since he had just been cleaned up, the trash bag containing the pull-up had just been removed and also left a smell) While we sat downstairs waiting for our transportation, I heard the staff talking about us. (No matter how you feel, it is professional to keep your comments to yourself.) He had to listen them talking about us and because he knew he had to get cleaned up he cried because they called us nasty and said we smelled bad. They wondered how our house looked and smelled They called us disgusting. All those things hurt us. I went to the front desk and asked to file a complaint. I told her why and let her know all three of us had disabilities and we didnt like the things we heard them say. With a smirk on her face, she said okay, sorry you feel that way. Do you want to talk to the manager? Kept shrugging her shoulders. 😡 I said yes, please.😌 I told him the same thing and he fussed at me. Told me do what I feel I need to do and to get off of his phone. Called me stupid and said bye. 😡😠We will never stay at another super 8 ever again. So we had items stolen from us, slurs spoken when they thought we couldnt hear them, talked about and harassed by them... They didnt even allow me to file a complaint. I had to call corporate to file. Smh. This month makes 2 years since my baby brother and I lost our Mother to breast cancer.... All things we already deal with, being at or checking out of a hotel shouldnt be the thing that brings us to tears. 😢
I love how clean it was and how well they accommodated us. Only thing was,, this was the first Super 8 that didnt accept pets. Well I wasnt going to leave my toy dog in the car for 3 days, so yes I snuck him in. And he did well with staying quiet and not going pee pee or poppie on their floors.
The chair and the carpet in the room were old and filthy. It looks like someone on drugs designed it. my room looked nothing like the pictures. Bed bugs bit my family to bits and after researching on the net i see the manager claims they dont have them but just two weeks before we stayed there other people got bitten and saw them too. I found several reviews of this hotel all saying they found bed bugs in there room. I called the super 8 hotline and the manager told them that we were satisfied after we changed rooms but i never once saw the manager. We had to stay there because the races had the other hotels all booked so changing rooms was our only option. Its dirty and the house keeper kept waking us up at 8 am every morning and would knock once them just come in when my family was in bed. I can barely believe the pictures on the net compared to what the room we had was.
We stayed at Super 8 as part of a nearly 100 mile backpacking trip between Sharon Springs and Albany, much of it on Erie Canalway Trail. While there were three other closer accommodations, we consider Super 8 to be the best value. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. There is a terrific continental breakfast with waffles and pastries. The price is a couple of dollars more than nearby Valley View Motor Inn, but the courtesy of staff along with continental breakfast offer made Super 8 the top choice. The friendly staff were also good enough to allow us to print out local trail maps from their own computers.Super 8 did not have a washer and dryer on site, but the one at Valley View is a regular public laundromat that can be used by anyone, so this was still the best choice.
They did a remodel. Just seems they covered up the worst of it instead of just repairing the problem. The beds are still disgusting. Carpet is still disgusting. As soon as you walk into the building. Youre hit with a sour mildew smell.(Im sorry you feel my review was false. Perhaps fixing the items I listed previously instead of trying to debunk it.) The truth tends to sting a little.
The room was clean, but the hotel was isolated across river from town. A rundown closed restaurant was in the same parking lot. Someones car alarm went off at 2:40am and when I looked out my room window, the owner was in the back of the minivan, trying to turn off alarm. They then drove away. I think they were bandit sleeping at the hotel for a free breakfast.
Hotel service was great, the person at front was very professional, and nice when had customers upset cause did not get room on bottom floor cause the room were full. The customer was be very rude to her. After she done being nice the rude customer she took the time to help find good restaurants that deliver in the area.I was very pleased with customers service.
Very bad experience with this place.I tried to rent a room, for my daughter and son in law who is disabled,i was told i couldnt pay for the room for them they had to pay for it themselves, and then we were told we had to leave.HORRIBLE customer service.I do not recommend renting a room there
This place NEEDS new management. some random person entered my room in the middle of the night, so i went to the front desk to resolve the issue. i proceed to get screamed at and threatened to have the cops called on me by the manager for my false accusations... until they find a new manager, STAY AWAY!
This was the worst place i have ever stayed there was a dirty sock on the floor in the bathroom and a bar of used soap in the shower the drain in the sink and shower drained slow and there was hair in the tub the floor in the bedroom had pennies all over and hadnt been vaccumed in a while and had food under the bed the microwave was dirty the suryp was empty and the woman put it away instead of filling it i had to ask her for it twice and then she took out a gallon of it and before I could say nething she drowned my waffle with it

2022-02-27My son had a business trip in the area and needed a place to stay during his conference. I recommended Super 8, because I figured all he needs is a place to sleep and shower nothing fancy. For our surprise this property turn out to be a very pleasant and well taken care one. It exceeded the expectations my son had. It is clean, comfortable, smoking free, pet free, staff was very courteous and accommodating. I will definitely recommend Amsterdam Super 8 to all future family members and friends coming to visit. This property gets an A on my list.

2022-05-28Management obviously has no pride in this hotel. Our room was DIRTY! We stay in a lot of choice hotels, and this has been one of the worst. The sheets seemed clean, but that was about it. I didnt want to touch anything in the bathroom. Not to mention, we paid for a non-smoking room and ours smelled like a casino! If we werent so tired, we wouldve left, but you gotta do what you gotta do on the road!I gave them 2 stars because I liked the light up mirror, and the sheets were soft!

2022-07-08Out Standing , not a party hotel, mostly young couples in love. If you are looking for a very quiet hotel to get a good nights sleep, this is it. Management out standing , if something is not right, they are more than willing to fix it asap, you just have to ask.

2022-07-08The hotel had no breakfast but the bathroom in our room was clean. It’s good for a one night stay but no longer.

2021-09-18There is plenty of truck parking at this hotel which makes it nice for travelers that are hauling campers or trailers. The night staff both gentlemen are always friendly and remember you if you have stayed there before. On the weekends starting on Fridays make sure you make a reservation early because they fill up quick. Rates are compatible to other hotels and the rooms have always been clean. I myself like the rooms downstairs because I dont look pretty on stairs. They have a breakfast nook for a continental style . Something I have never used get up to late for it. And the day manager is always friendly

2021-10-07The great: updated modern toilets that flush well, and modern sinks with new faucets AND a fancy mirror with a touch-activated light built in. They get an A+ for those. The bad: they dont lift up and clean around the shower mat in the tub. They have the ugliest, dated duvets on the beds. No closet, but a small rack to hang up clothes. They obviously didnt vacuum the floor or dust off the chair. Although we advertised a free breakfast, they only had juice and coffee. We noticed the carafes were dirty on the outside that night. In the morning they hadnt been cleaned up. The coffee had light colored floaters, which I assume was calcium or lime deposits from the water. All of that said, the hotel down the road was full and this had a 1st floor room available. A bunch of over the road truckers stayed here, so it cant be all that bad. But please, clean those coffee carafes every day.

2021-10-04Dishonest and vindictive manager. Our employees left this hotel reporting that the rooms had bugs, there was mold in the shower. We did our best by calling and asking if the rooms were clean enough but we were lied to and our guys checked out.Understand that we are not picky. We dont book the Marriott but typically we try Wyndham or Choice Hotels but there was little available and the prices were high. So we tried the Super 8 (we usually avoid) and were greeted on the phone by a friendly voice who had us speak to a friendly manager who assured us the accommodations were clean and safe. They are not. There is no excuse for rooms with bugs and mold. No matter the price point.Because we had checked out of the hotel, having paid for one night, they refused a package that had been shipped there causing us to waste even more time and money.Disgusting hotel, with seemingly polite staff who are dishonest, misleading and vindictive.AVOID THIS PLACE

2021-08-21Very clean and the rooms were up-to-date. Extremely impressed with the mini refrigerator that had a good size freezer unit. The housekeeping staff was very attentive and the front desk staff greeted us very warmly. It was a 2 days overnight where you didnt need to spend a lot of time in a hotel or on the property.
