Key Food Supermarkets in other cities:
This is the worst supermarket that I have ever been to. The deli always always has a line. Their prices are always wrong because they dont change them. If something says 2.99 on sale, the cash register will charge you regular price. Now when you go into the supermarket, you have to leave your bags for grocery and shopping cart outside and they give you a ticket and they bring it to you at the register. They are so untrusting and always watching if your stealing. Thats it. I am done with this place and never shopping there again.
I am at this supermarket often, and usually have a great shopping experience. However, what really makes my transaction the best is when I have a cashier named Scarlet (i believe that’s how her name is spelled). I get so happy when I see that she is working. She never fails to provide friendliness and professionalism. She is so sweet and knows how to hold a conversation.
A clean, well stocked, and reasonable Supermarket. I like the deli counter they have a great selection and everything seems to be very fresh including the foods they make themselves My updated report. I saw recently that and the price of the meats ,produce and appetizing have risen substantially. Everything else is as I first reported. The price is still seems to be getting higher and higher I dont understand how things could have risen that much.
My experience at this keyfood after coming to this store for 15 years has been uneventful until now. I purchased a peanut butter outdated about 4 days ago. I returned without a receipt and the manager approached me with disdain and argumentatively asked me can I help you. I told him I was going to replace the redeemed bottle of PB and he said I could not because I didn’t have a receipt. I asked him to check my KF card purchases because I literally spend hundreds of dollars a month at this place. The manager was aggressive in his tone and body language and dismissed me by saying have a nice day but actually being sarcastic. I will NEVER shop at this place again. The people are rude and the manger knows me enough to know I go nowhere else but to this KF for years. To not accommodate a reliable customer was insulting, rude and disrespectful not to mention unprofessional. Never again. Always check the dates in your purchases because this wasn’t my first time. So when I came back with yet another outdated product, I had no idea they would treat me like this. Customer service is terrible and so is the manger. Good riddens! Prices are better at other supermarkets anyway.
This is excellent supermarket. Bonavita supermarket have all is complete. All guys are friendly, they have good deli, produce , grocery, frozen ,meat etc. They have good price and excellent manager sell. If you need something ask for Carlos o Saul they are excellent service.
Near and tidy store. They pride themselves on being clean and orderly here. The food quality is great and fresh. Their meat can come down in price per pound or they can actually afford to give their customers a bit more meat for their money. But everything else is good otherwise.
Best deli in the area with totally courteous & helpful staff & the store manager who appreciates his customers. Would have liked an explanation as to why it is now necessary to check any & all bags at the door. Has neighborhood crime risen & what is the local precinct doing about it?
Love the products at keyfood. The store is a little hard to navigate with tight isles and no teachers for us small people. Love the coldcut counter, staff are the best at slicing and packing your product. I find that the fruits stored outside do not last very long. On my last visit I noted expired vegetables not fresh in the packing. Knowing that I should have been more aware as I bought an expired product that I came home and threw out. There is one special cashier that is very personable and really makes your day. I wish I knew her name.
I love this store, and even though I hop on the BX36 bus to get to catch #6 train heading to Pelham, it is worth the trip. This store is well organize by the staff, and everything they make is fresh! They practically cater to the surrounding community that encircles this store. I wish that I can find a reason priced apartment that will bring me closer to shop here; I would be here Every Day! Trust me you wont be disappointed. Also, they have a nice size parking facility, hardly ever crowded. Here is something you should know. It may seem that there prices may be slightly over price, but not always true. However, I live by what I was raised by, meaning ... You pay for what you get! When you for products that are Cheap, then you get cheap quality, a little gets you Better quality. Oh, one more thing, its a clean store! Thats a Plus! I hope my feedback and experience was helpful. Ciao, Vincenzo!
I had a very bad experience with an employee here whom was very rude and abrasive on the phone. She was extremely unprofessional, however, I have spoken to the Corporate Headquarters and they assured me that the Franchise Owner will be contacted and notified of the situation. It is a shame that a store which is very pleasant in so many other ways is tarnished by the actions of one jaded and cynical employee. Hopefully there will be a resolution to the matter and the situation will be corrected. Either a Customer Service retrain or Mystery Shopper program should correct the problem. Hopefully the Franchise owner will remedy the problem once they are made aware.
Have not been to the store in a while, and was completely baffled when told I could not bring my shopping cart into the store. I was told that it would be brought to me right away when I give the cashier the card they gave me. All of my purchases were rung up, credit card processed, and yet my cart was still nowhere in sight. Then I was told that I had to place a PAID sticker on each item purchased. Does anyone know what brought about these policies? Does anyone think these are a bit over the top and bizarre?
I have been shopping at this Keyfood for years, I must say its a shame how much it has changed. The produce is not all fresh as others have said on their reviews. From rotten tomatoes to yellow collard greens. One cashier over rang my wife by nine dollars. Some mistake.
Far better than an average Key Food the Pelham Bay location boasts a fantastic selection of Italian items and excellent and courteous staff and a clean but cluttered environment. Honestly, the only downside is the other customers who can be quite rude, especially as the aisles are quite narrow.
Fun big neighborhood grocery. You can see they serve thus community from its customized community oriented selections. I stop specifically to shop here when in Pelham Bay Park area on business. I find items just now find elsewhere or 19 tines+ the cost online. I find items no longer even made anymore...truly! Extremely friendly professional neighborly team.A destination. Thank you!
Store is big. Aisle are tight when you are going through them. Prices are high even when things are on special. Have to watch the cashiers when checking out because they scan everything really fast and prices are incorrect. Weekly special ads are not the same when you are checking out.
I attempted to shop at this store earlier this morning and was refused entry due to their bag policy that requires you to check bags at the door. I explained to the woman at the door that I have no use of my right hand due to a recent car accident injury that required stitches. Carrying my reusable bag over my shoulder is the only way I can carry my groceries without hurting myself. The woman at the door told me I could take a cart, which I explained I could not steer & then she told me I could take a basket, which I can not hold. I offered to have my bag searched upon exit, she said no. I asked if someone was available to shop with me, she said no. I was forced to leave since they would not accommodate my injury and pay double at a smaller store. I called to explain the situation to a manager and spoke with Carlos. He explained in an annoyed tone that there were no exceptions to store bag policy even for those who cant push a cart or carry the basket when its heavy. I have been shopping at this Key Food my entire life and have never been treated poorly, but this experience forces me to shop elsewhere going forward.
One of the best supermarkets in the area. Great variety of breads, cheeses, and fresh produce. Really good deli department, and good selection on meats. Im sure you can find everything you may be looking for here. The prices are not bad, and they have a convenient parking lot, that includes charging ports for electric cars. Its very well assorted and many cultures can find what they may look for here.
Great prices and customer service!!!Update 8/8/21: use to be best restaurant in this side of the Bronx. No more - Not only due to their prices, whenever something is on sale theyre out of the product, yet the following day the products are on the shelves at the regular ridiculous price. And they wont give a raincheck!
This supermarket has a decent selection of foods. The lines always move quickly at checkout. Theres plenty of parking. The meat section is really good and everything always looks fresh. Theres a lot of good to say about this place. So why am I only giving it a 2 star review? The prices are very high. The prices are as high as picking something up at a local store or fruit and vegetable market. Its probably the most expensive supermarket in all of the Bronx. If you dont drive and only have access to this location then I guess it makes sense. If you care about saving some money, go somewhere else. Other than the high prices, this place is fine.
The staff is helpful, the prices are reasonable for the most part. Love the Deli and Meat departments. My only complaint is the amount of product cluttering the aisles which causes bottlenecks. At times, I cant stop by the product needed because of the pile up. Best to avoid the Saturday morning crowd.
Its a very nice and clean store. I was just very disappointed when I saw a patron use her nasty bear hands to go into the bin with the loose rolls and touch the bread instead of using the tongs that were supplied to pick up the bread and none of the employees said ANYTHING!
Friendly staff but the prices are high. I usually shop here when I need the bulk of my groceries but if I really want to get more for my money there are 2 Stop n Shops close by enough to walk, take a bus or cab, drive there and back. This Keyfood has a selection that reflects the neighborhood. Pasta/Pasta Sauce usually on sale and they have fresh mozzarella as well. There is also a butcher at this location; I dont utilize the butcher so I cant honestly tell you what if any meats they have to offer. I know butchers in supermarkets are a rare commodity nowadays. Shelves always stocked and produce appears to be fresh never seen anything passed the expiration date here. The aisles need to be wider, dont understand how this supermarket has all this space outside but seems to be sitting on a smaller footprint was small aisles. I prefer to go early morning on Sundays when they open at 7am. I can move freely & dont have to deal with lines and people hitting with their shopping carts. *If a snowstorm is predicted for overnight or the next day, avoid this place with all your might. If you need a few items go to another store. This place was jammed packed, the evening I walked in here before a snowstorm event.*
They have redone the store, the aisles are a little bit wider, they have redone the floors, and the registers now have green lights to show if their lines are open. Since it is the only supermarket in the Pelham Bay area, it is still very crowded, and can be difficult to get around the customers. However, the BEST part about this store is the pricing. If you have to purchase items that require a set amount of items for the sale price, you still get a small discount on the items if you dont buy the exact amount. I recommend a loyalty card for this store.
One of my family favorite place for grocery . Went there since I was a kid and I always loved the atmosphere the way everything is set makes it easy to find your way around. I’m not giving 5 stars because I think they are still missing up on real organic products and because latterly the staff is becoming visibly rude and looked like they are annoyed by their job and so all I want to say to this people is that no one is forcing them to do it if they don’t like it everyone should be feel free to pick their own job based on what they really like.
An extremely clean and well organized supermarket with clutter free isles . The security guy was so friendly and gave us a few recipe tips also. Overall a great experience and I love food shoppingWill definitely return soon. Great meat dairy and produce sections well stocked
This supermarket is very clean, fruits and veggies are always fresh. Nice variety of cheeses, sausages and their meat is the freshest compared to other supermarkets near me. Big parking lot available and is conveniently located right between 2 train stations and a bus stop right down the block. Great neighborhood superket!
I love that the manager goes all out his way for the customers. I had suggested vegan protein meats and he actually got them with no hesitation! I see more organic options now Too! I am Whole Food and Fairway loyal customer but now I can say I go to Key Food more because they know how to make their customers Happy!
Absolutely the best supermarket destination in Pelham Bay area! The quality and selection are above all of my familys exacting expectations! We have moved to Pelham Bay 3 months ago and cancelled our helloFresh membership and wouldnt dream of going anywhere else for our meat, fish, poultry, game, fresh produce! They are open 7 days a week from 6am-8pm.
The atmosphere is nice and the music in the above speakers take you back to the 80s do ur shopping and singing. Nice. Until you get to the cashier. Most of them dont even talk or engage they do that with their associates across from them while you are treaded with disregard and your money. The cakes are deliciously decorated but after you taste them they are hard and stale.
My mom was yesterday to buy some rice and she got sushi by mistake.Went back today to return it the package was not open and they denied to refund I had the receipt with me as well.I require to speak to the manager he was very rude with me and cut me short you cannot return the item because of the COVIDIf i could give a zero star I would have gave because of how rude and unprofessional was the manager with us very disappointed
I made a purchase and the cashier didnt pack all my groceries. I get home and realize I didnt get my cold cuts amounting to $16.00 I spoke to a person by the name of Carlos who claimed he was the store manager and he treated like a liar. He was insulting and rude and I will never shop at keyfood again. I am a resident of the neighborhood
I hate writing bad reviews but this deals with food and I feel its important for people to know about. I used to shop here a lot but one of the things that turns me off about the supermarket is how they fail to check their products and ensure customers are getting great quality product. During the Summer, their pineapples werent right, they had a weird taste and then twice Ive bought chicken from them and they spoiled the next day or two so I stopped buying meat from there. Today I bought an onion and it was rotted on the inside.Yeah, they remodeled and the store does look great, wider aisles too. But if youre not checking your product and ensuring its fresh then it doesnt matter to me.Never coming back.
I like this supermarket because we can get our cold cuts from here when we shop although they dont have beef bologna. They have good sales from time to time but the worst thing is that they dont accept coupons printed from your computer. It also has a decent sized parking lot.
Hello to all! I came here few days ago got everything I needed except I couldn’t find the dill but the manager was more than happy to help! I think it’s under new management whims are really nice and attentive. Came back here again yesterday and got my dill for my salad^_^ thanks Mohammed
It is super large store and polite workers. It holds major brands good. 4 example weight watchers , smart one t.v. dinners they hold appx. 15 to 20 different dinners and usually close to $ 4.50 but each month on sale 5 for $10.00. And alot good name foods are always on sale. A very big deli dept. Plus so much more.J.DeSappio...Ask 4 Albert if u need anything they dont have.He is great mng.
Not a bad supermarket but hate how they leave the water outside in the sun. If you do your research the plastic bring outside in the sun that long releases chemicals in water that is not good for us. My husband told the manager and he said yeah so I hear. It still sits outside in the sun.
Isles are narrow and the traffic flow can be nauseating as you have to wait for the uneducated to make a selection. Some of the sales clerk are genuine and sweet. However, today I had to wait for the sales clerk to have the manager check my $5 dollar bill because it looked suspicious. This was a new low for the quality of service. Will they next be checking my quarters? If the store is that hard up to investigate a $5, something is incredibaly wrong. Perhaps they should invest in a counterfeit scanner or investigate their cashiers...
Cashier was rude I was shopping with a friend and went to the cashier to ring us up I put the basket on the belt and was going to bag up the groceries and my friend was getting nuts from the end cap and the cashier rudely said arent you going to take the groceries out of the basket with an attitude and I explained to her that someone was with me and I didnt relize they werent behind me when we were goin to chech out. No manners what so ever
They always make a mistake marking sale items and then do not honor THEIR MISTAKE and get nasty especially the manager at night I have had to put in a complaint more than once about this problem .....disgusting customer service and yes they are overpriced. They need to be more specific on their sale flyers
I really dont like this food market. People working there are mostly rude and slow. Food is overpriced and all the aisles are super narrow. They do carry more stuff than Foodtown on bruckner Blvd. But shopping there is a nightmare. Its ghetto store for ghetto people. I shop in Westchester exclusively after bad experiences in there and Foodtown.
Very dangerous when leaving exit, cant see right or left and during holiday time they put decorations to double block view. someday I just know it, a car will run over someone, hope its not me. only go there when have no options not to mention the parking. business must have been the very best cause they didnt think once what complications it would cause.
I buy seltzer by the case. Manager refused to refund my money on a Case of flat seltzer claiming I had opened the bottles. HOW ELSE DO YOU FIND OUT ITS FLAT? Otherwise, slightly overpriced in anything from fresh vegetables/fruit. NY is the apple capital of the US but keyfood prices them at International prices. Good for Gotta Have but expect full price. Poor selection of grass fed meats. BaTempte pickles usually stale/soft/freezer burnt. Good for basics, Some sale prices worth the effort. But this is the Bronx, shop local and save.
Try to find alternative A.S.A.P. This grocery store is expensive. The owners cramp the isles with displays and produce, and as a result patrons are often in rude cart traffic jams (scary that these people drive). The deli counter is rude, and lacks quality, staffers cutting cold cuts seem like theyre from a second chance or workfare program. If youre new to this area, or lack a vehicle, its your only excuse for going here. Q50 to Main Str, theres a BJs there, anything to avoid this place when possible.
Always too crowded - THE AISLES ARE SO CLOSED TOGETHER THAT YOU CAN ONLY MOVE YOUR SHOPPING CART TO THE SIDE TO TRY TO GET UP THE AISLE - EXTRA FOOD DISPLAYS BLOCK THE AISLES - Its worse than an obstacle course -People act like animals -Fish department is imported from China & other Asian countries that are not health regulated or quality controled -tilapia was probably fished out of the sewer - flash frozen and sent to USA - - Read the labels where key food gets their fish - all their fish is frozen -There is a lot of room for improvement
Some products are too high on shelves cant reach most of the stuff the Isles of the Isles of Wight it and others it gets extremely very crowded on the islands that are not wide enough to accommodate two or three carriages side-by-side Berlin Wall it wasnt bad just very congested on the parking lot is terrible just terrible I think those aisles are too close together for cause and stuff

2022-04-28Conveniently located and my go to supermarket. I love all of the fresh produce and the deli section. Only crowded during holiday shopping times otherwise a very nice shopping experience and no long lines. Im moving soon and I hope I will be near a nice supermarket such as this one.

2022-02-07The store is large and has a decent selection. However, prices are very high and there are barely any sales. You have to check your empty bags and shopping cart at the door. I understand why they do this now but it makes for a longer checkout process and you end up bagging a lot yourself to make things move along quicker.

2022-04-15This is by far THE best supermarket that I have been to in NYC. The staff is friendly, the shelves are always stocked, there are produce bags readily available at all times, the food’s are always the freshest, the store is always clean and the cashiers are kind, patient, friendly and efficient. 2022-05-17Have not been in this store since the pandemic, first time in 25 months, still a great place to shop!
