They have anything you could need for your kitchen at different price points. I come to this location when I need something specific or when I want to pickup a seasonal decor item. Their is a kitchen for classes in the back where you can sign-up for classes. I’ve attended one of their baking classes and absolutely loved it!
We were on the cooking class so my review is all about class ( the store itself is quite good but pricey though) first I d mention the pros: they provide the attendees with coffee/ tea/snack ( but the cups were out of sight so people couldnt find them) they begin on time, the chef was friendly and was trying her best, it is clean there.Cons: the class was poorly organized, first of all ! you dont get your own products and own cooktop, you are at the table with your team (4 people) and you cut/ mince/ mix in turns!, if you have an unpleasant person ( as we did) in your team then you will have less your turns, you cant see what the chef is doing over her cooktop , for that you should gather around, you cant hear the chef properly ( no mic) some parts of the dish are already cooked, the chef was like : now bend and take smth under your table.. oops they are not there ok it must be somewhere here, not once ((Sorry but it was the only and last cooking class in sur la table.
The stores as a nice selection of items like all Sur La Table stores.I took 5 knives for sharpening and the job was not done well. All knives were still dull and unpolished. The two carbon steel knives were unacceptably done so I asked for the money back. The other three, stainless steel, were slightly better but still lacked finishing.Discussing with the manager, she clarified that sharpening was done by any staff member available using an electric pull-through kitchen sharpener. Lack of experience and a poor tool will never render decent results.I will never return for that service there.
I like the selection of interesting & unusual cooking/kitchen profucts. Staff is friendly & knowledgeable. Dont know how much of this is pandemic, but their selection/restocking is somewhat iffy – Im told that new shipments arrive, weekly, but that they never know whats going to be in them.Fortunately, its in a good location (for me, this way), & amenable to my stopping in, for a warm-up + look-see, coupla×/week.
Pretty good amount of merchandise, not as vast as Willian Sonoma however. One item to note is their section of high end coffee and espresso machines. The machines are all powered on so customers could view the functionality on the touchscreens, which I did. So I played around with the buttons and pressed the “Espresso “ button and to my complete surprise, the sound of grinding was heard and 15 seconds later, hot coffee came pouring out of the spout! One of the sales associates immediately came over with a look of shock on her face and gave me a minor scolding for my actions. I looked at her for a few seconds and pointed out the following (in a polite way, of course):- There were no signs stating not to touch the controls.- There should be an employee stationed at the display to control customer access and demonstrate the units. Maybe give out a free shot of espresso!- From a liability standpoint, WHY would a retailer allow access to extremely hot water with no warning?!?Hopefully they rethink this display approach so no one gets scalded. I’ve learned not to be so curious in a luxury cookware store! :)
Consistent with the review from Melissa Erdogdu, I ordered an item a week ago and the item has not even shipped with no estimate of delivery. I have called multiple times and I have been told the item is available in the warehouse but they have no idea when they will ship it. There is no recourse and I am trapped. In hindsight, I would suggest using a different vendor even if it costs more. At this point, let us hope the item arrives. It was meant as a birthday gift but that plan is out of the window! Avoid Sur La Table going forward!
Ordered a Christmas gift on-line (toaster). Gift thankfully received in time for Christmas. That is where the good stopped. Upon opening Christmas day - discovered damage to the toaster. Christmas day emailed with pics of damage. I did not receive a response so I called. Given directions on how to return for an exchange - followed directions. Called to check on status of exchange - told by rep that it was on way and they had sent an email. (No Email and not shipped. 4 calls later - confirmed pkg rec 1/5/21.told exchange would be shipped- then rec. Email stating refund processed!!!! Just spoke with rep. (6th call) confirmed no exchange just refund. Do not purchase on-line from them. You will be frustrated and disappointed. Very poor customer service.
If you want to practice patience and get nowhere- try Sur la table customer service. Purchased a Zavor multicooker in December. When it arrived the cord was faulty. The only option they gave me was to return the product myself. I purchased a cord on the vendor’s site and for two months it worked. Stopped working and Sur la table told me I exceeded the 60 days. The clock should have started when I got the cord I purchased myself not when they sent a faulty product and twice declined responsibility for their wares.
One of a limited number of stores that host Nespresso coffee sales desks. Although mail order Nespresso pods are direct shipped rather quick, sometimes its just better to buy in person. Well, thats pretty much the only place I know where I can do that. Theyd always offer a freshly made cup of coffee too.The store itself is always will stocked. This particular location offers knife sharpening. I havent taken any classes at this location, but the chain does run generally interesting cooking class sessions that are adorable and always fun.
The cooking class was excellent! Knife skills 101 was taught by a caring and skilled chef who made a delicious stew with all of our newly chopped vegetables. We learned about knife types and care and practiced skills that I look forward to employing the next time I prepare a meal. Will be taking another class as soon as possible. Also the shopping experience was excellent. Friendly and highly knowledgeable staff made for one of the best shopping experiences I have had! Even the security guard was super helpful in finding things and explaining one of the more fascinating objects for sale.
I LOVE this location. The manager, Gloria (Glo), has a wonderful customer service ethic. Glo helped me with a complicated purchase where I was trying to cobble together a set of plates, etc. that were on clearance, but were what Id been searching for everywhere! She never made me feel rushed, and took considerable time trying to locate the pieces for a full set. Everything was shipped free to my home with in a few days. I live in NJ but took my first class here last week and have already scheduled my second.
Signed up for a class and found out, day of the class I could not attend. I called the store and had the pleasure of talking to Tara and Danielle! They were super helpful and understanding. If the classes are as good as the staff, Im sure I will love my future cooking class.
This store and its employees are not concerned with proper social distancing or safety. I just stopped in to buy something and I was in there for 20 min and was approached by 3 different sales people, its took 2 people to bag my item and they would not give me my space. Too many people working. very rude.also there shopping bags still readMAKE MORE GATHER OFTEN. !!! seriously?!? this company is tone deff, change ur bags.
I am revising my review. After several communications, Sur La Table contacted me and offered to reschedule my sons cooking lesson free of charge. I am very pleased to have been heard and have them extend their policy to fit our situation. They have proven to be most flexible.I am currently waiting for my sons fiancee to select a new date for their lesson. By the way, the lesson she shared with my husband was fun for both. So the actual experience turned out well.Be advised they do have a 48 hour cancellation policy. But if you have an emergency, you can contact them for special consideration.Way to go, Sur La Table! We thank you very much.
Went in for a return at this location (306 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019). The store manager asked me go to the cashier that was already helping somebody. While I was waiting a younger girl walked in he (the manager) decided that the younger girl was worth more of his time and decided to help her. When it was finally my turn at the cash register, the cashier didn’t know how to do a online order return and had to ask the store manager to do it instead. Customer service is terrible. Shame on you Sur La Table for hiring and condoning this kind of behavior in your stores. Never buying from this store ever again.
My wife took a class here as a date. It was fun and the food was good. However, there were several things that frustrated us.- the experience was a bit pricey $170 for two people- we were grouped with another couple the entire evening, I recommend going in a group of 4- the instructor was a head chef (Melissa), but not a good teacher. She didnt teach to the lowest level and we (and other groups) often were asking each other what we were supposed to do next. The assistants were life savers and actually taught us something- they rushed us out so we couldnt enjoy our meal, we had maybe 5-6 minutes to eat while they were running around preparing for the next class they had in 10 minutes. In summary, fun but probably wont go again. The store was superb and we got 30% discount.
I’m sorry but I really need to say I’m so disappointed with the class today. All the experience wasn’t match with the price which you charged, the chef in class even forgot to put the pork in one of the dishes. I paid $180 for me and also is my husband birthday gift, and was expecting a professional cooking class. And that not even close, I’m really really disappointed with what I paid for!
I came to this store after Ive been to their UES store. This one is just closer to my apt.So the prices are not that cheap, but you can be sure that they are reliable.I had a great costumer experience when one of their workers came and helped me with a big smile. If you like cooking or baking - you will love this place! The prices are better than William-Sonoma, and they have a huge selection too!
One unbelievable storyI bought a Nespresso coffee machine at this store. It turned outthat that machine was defective, so they recommended to send it for repair to the central repair center. It turned out, that the machine couldnt be repaired, so they issued me a credit against a new machine, but not trough my credit card, but directly trough the store, where I went to pick up the machine. While in store looking at the coffee machines which they were selling in front of my eyes I was told, that that I cant to use my credit there, ( I had the proper reference number, etc. ), but that I have to go to a different location to use my credit there. Complete comedy of errors. It is probably easier to get a citizenship for illegal immigrants (Trump) than to deal with these people. I never will set foot into that store. Definitely do not recommend.
Im nowhere near being a chef and really have no business frequenting this establishment. However, I recently acquired a Nespresso Virtuo machine and discovered Sur La Table is like some outlet for the coffee/espresso maker. Theres a dedicated, full-on station staffed with experts that dispense product education, sample cups and the iconic coffee capsules themselves. Anytime Im about to run out of my stash, I make a run to this place. As for the actual kitchen supplies sold here, theyre top of the line stuff serviced by really friendly staff.
I walked into this store on my lunch break to get my free EVOO which I had the coupon for. I walked up to the register which only had one associate helping someone that was doing a return. There was what looked to be a manager that ignored me while he did some inventory Im guessing on the register. I was in the store in line for 10 minutes with no hello or acknowledgement of my presence and theres another person also behind me at this point. Then this older man comes out of no where doesnt stand in line, but goes to the opposite side and the manger looking guy goes over to help him with no problem. I still wait patiently. The older man asks for a free EVOO because he sees the sign. He has no coupon, no email address to give the store, but he gets the free EVOO. Im still waiting in line and the return customer is finishing up and shows his coupon to the associate for the free EVOO. The associate says, We are out, that man just took the last one. Then I say, There are a bunch of bottles behind you. The associate tells me those are reserved. I say, That man skipped me in line and got the last one, while everyone that works here ignored me. Of course I received no response and didnt expect one from this store that has no idea of what customer service is. Wish I could give zero stars. Ill stick to Williams-Sonoma from now on.
If youre intersted in anything kitchen or food related: Sur La Table is the place to go. There is a very large variety of gourmet food products, perfect for those who enjoy cooking, or aspire to be a chef. Addictionally there is a very friendly and comforting enviroment, that you will enjoy.

2021-12-05It was so much fun! Honestly its really helpful to have the classes because recipes I thought would be challenging the classes show you they are simple. Chef Danny is really good at explaining things and making the class fun. It doesnt hurt they give 10% discount to buy items in the store after class.

2022-02-07Do not take cooking classes. Paid $80 per person and ended up eating one dinner (literally one steak ) sharing with 3 other people!!! Also the “chef” cut 1/4 of our steak and ate it alone with his help- so rude! Absolutely not worth it. The description of the course is not accurate. Really bad experience and we are extremely disappointed.

2022-02-15This flagship store located in the Hurst Tower right on 57th Street is a beautifully decorated boutique. Every high-end kitchen gadget, appliance, accessory you can think of they have. They also offer classes in their demo kitchen.

2022-06-05Do not take the cooking classes here. I took the Caribbean jerk chicken cooking class on May 27th and felt completely ripped off. It was supposed to be 2-2.5 hours long but we ended around 1.5 hours. We weren’t told seating was first come first served so my group of four were separated. Also the instructor did not go over the main component of the dish which was putting together the seasoning of the chicken as well as how to make the coconut flan. We basically only learned how to make salad and mashed maduros. The menu said we would have tostones which was not the case. Also the menu indicated guava vinaigrette but the guava wasn’t offered. The flan they served us wasn’t set and it was basically soup. The jerked chicken was not good and did not have any flavor to it. I feel like I wasted my money on this class as I didn’t learn anything. I called customer service and have yet to receive any response from the cooking class department. I also never received the email copy of the recipes. Not that the recipes would have been good anyway.

2022-05-14Its too bad this place doesnt pay a smaller more experienced crew higher wages to work a full time schedule. Ones who know their product line and business. They like most retailers are taking advantage of employees by giving the ones who make less more hours. Shame in this work environment. Shame.

2022-01-22I purchased a Staub Cocotte and returned it for a refund. Even though the company received it back on December 6, I am still waiting on my refund. The customer service of this company is the worst. Not only are they ignoring my multiple requests for assistance, but they also make empty promises about resolving the issue.

2017-09-05Cute place, a bit smaller than my usual SLT but it seems to have all the usual stuff. I come here to pick up capsules for my Nespresso coffee machine. They have a separate internal shop for it in the back. Customers can ask for a free full cup of coffee or espresso to taste before they buy, so its always a nice visit when I do come.
