Best sushi I have ever had with excellent soup and appetizers. Outstanding place for a really special occasion but not somewhere most people could afford to come regularly. My wife had tempura which was also excellent. Friendly classy service. We had a reservation which looked like it was a good idea on a Saturday before a show.
Most definately one of the best sushi nights of my life... Was on a trip and wanted to try some non italian sushi, went for this place and was surprised by the quality! Excellent fish, amazing service and mood. Loved every single piece, even those that I usually avoid (urchin) because I thought I didnt like the taste. I have no idea what kind of magic they use but they changed my mind about so many kinds of fish :PWould come again but Im from Italy so... Gotta wait a bit longer for another visit! I tried reserving another spot for omakase but the place was sold out (even for myself alone, was travelling alone), so get a spot in advance, dont wait for last minute booking!(visited the place in November 2016)
The only sushi place I go to in the city! Also I think the 46th location is the best Sushi of Gari location out of all. The omakase is amazing. Quality ingredients, super fresh seafood, and really nice staff! Make sure to always book to sit at the bar, so you get to see your food being prepared by the chef, its pretty amusing.
Had such an amazing meal there. You have to sit at the sushi counter and do omakase. Heres what I ate in order of what they served me.Red snapper saladSea bass with lemon saltYellowtail jalapeño sauceSalmon marinated with soyToroSautéed white fishHorse mackerelMiso marinated black codBaked oysterTuna tofu sauceSalmon tomatoBonitoUniSmoked trout with apple sauceMackerel with sesameBbq toroSpicy scallop handrollScallopShrimp tempura roll (I ordered from server)Yes I was super full. My bill was 250 a person including tax and tip and I didnt order alcohol.17 pieces, a hand roll, and 1 cut roll. Welcome to nyc.If you want a deal, dont go here, go to sushi by bou (12 pieces for $50 and the sushi is unbelievable)
A high-end sushi place with interesting chefs speciality sushi definitely worth of trying. I also liked the dumplings and other non-sushi dishes. Not a cheap place but worth it. The place is a bit noisy when full of people, but the atmosphere was vibrant and cosy. Helpful personnel who kindly recommended good wine pairing.
Best sushi I’ve tasted in my whole life all around the world. West uptown small restaurant but always full. Excellent service. I had a seat at the bar and was served until I wanted to stop. It just kept getting better. I said to myself:”just one more!” until I couldn’t have anymore! Each was better than the last one. Amazing the red snapper, fluke with quail egg, salmon with stewed tomato, yellowtail with jalapeño, amazing toro and really good dessert, which is usually difficult to find. Very expensive but worth every penny
This is a splurge of all sushi splurges. Omikase is the way to go, but beware they dont actually tell you when theyre finished serving so it can get out of hand very quickly. Theres also a separate roll menu that they dont give you until you ask. That is definitely much more economical. Loved the tuna platter and the fluke.
I live in the neighbourhood but never visited this place so decided to give it a try last Sunday night. When I tried making a reservation on Opentable, it required credit card details with a threat of $25 charge for a no-show. Red flag! But given tables were available for anytime in the next hour, I opted for a walk-in since it was only a 10 minute walk from me anyway. To my surprise, when I showed up, the hostess told me they cant sit me at a table given they are fully booked despite the fact that the place was 80% empty! I asked for a manager and pulled up the Opentable app for him that showed plenty of availability. However he could not provide any explanation of why they cant sit us at the table. Red flag #2! Long story short, they sat our party of 2 at the bar. We opted for their most expensive special sushi and sashimi combo on the menu. But the food was mediocre at best. It tasted fishy, no pun untended, and did not seem super fresh. The fish selection was not too impressive either (no uni, no unagi, no rare/unique fish types). Red flag #3! We left pretty disappointed given the check-in experience and food was quality for the high price tag charged. I will not be returning to this place again despite being a huge sushi fan and living nearby. If you want really great sushi and customer service in Hells Kitchen area, just walk up to Columbus Circle and enjoy Blue Ribbon! They dont take reservations through Opentable but are so worth the wait, if any!!
Went here with my daughter before a Broadway show. The things we had were solid - not exceptional but a cut above the average sushi place. The staff were really friendly and attentive - perhaps it felt like they were rushing us along at times, but that might have also been because they get a lot of pre-theater diners like us, so I didnt mind. I got the Garis Special Sushi, where each piece has its own unique preparation with toppings, sauces, etc. They were creative and interesting although, again, not necessarily exceptional. I will say the prices were surprisingly reasonable given the location on Restaurant Row near Times Square. And it doesnt feel touristy inside. Id go back. (P.S.: The dessert special of green tea cheesecake with green tea whipped cream, green tea ice cream, and green tea powder was amazing!!)
Had omakase here... mixed feelings, on one hand all sushi courses were delicious and carefully made by our chef, on the other hand, all materials used were very ordinary with nothing fancy (all local fish, and all common varieties) and nothing innovative (except they put warm meshed tomato on salmon which looked innovative but didn’t necessarily make it tasty). And the chefs were also making sushi for takeouts in the meantime....We’d be happy if they charge less than 80 dollars each, which would be what the courses actually worth. But the price they charged was similar to other way better omakases we had in other better known sushi restaurants.
Amazing. Very inventive and unique experience. Gari’s approach was to make his own sauces for sushi to avoid people using soy sauce and cancelling out the taste of incredible sushi. I would absolutely return and try other locations as well. Would definitely recommend the Gari’s Special or the Omakase and mostly stick to sushi or sashimi here vs rolls.
Ehh. The omakase was interesting in presentation but ultimately the flavors were nothing special. The saki was excellent. Given the absolutely eyewatering price tag, however, i would never come back. Simply not worth what they charge as high quality fish is basically a commodity in this area. At half the price, 3.5 stars, at current pricing, 2.5
If youve never been here, treat yourself to the Omakase. Each piece of sushi is hand made just for you. You eat one at a time and pay for however many you eat. It is not cheap, so be warned. For two people to fill up and a bottle of Saki, we dropped $500. Which we would normally never do, but this place came highly recommended. Sit at the bar so you can watch them make your food, super fun to watch. The best sushi Ive ever eaten and one of the best meals of my life.
The sushi was melt-in-your-mouth good. The service was lovely. And considering the location, the prices were quite good. I had a salad with a delicious onion dressing. The salad was beautiful and more than the expected iceberg lettuce that you usually get at a sushi place. I also had some sushi a la carte and it was all good, really fresh and tender.
We enjoyed a meal for four on a Friday night. We were seated immediately (we had reservations), and the service remained prompt and attentive throughout the evening. The sushi was excellent, as fresh as can be and nicely prepared. The only reason for less than 5 stars is that my wifes omakase meal (the most expensive item on the menu) was brought out in three flights of four pieces, where in her past experience it was served one piece at a time. Perhaps this was because we were at a table, or a concession to having others who ordered different, less elaborate meals. But it would have been nice to either have a choice or to be forewarned. Still, a nice, trendy experience.
Inventive, fusion sushi in a crowded location.Obviously, it was my mistake to come to Time Square and expect a less chaotic atmosphere. The service was thoughtful and they even asked if we had a show to go to. Probably so they can get you your food faster and send you on your merry way.Im not the biggest fan of fusion nigiri so this rating is heavily of personal taste. For the price that we paid, there are so many other omakase places in Manhattan that offer a more serene dining experience.
An absolutely unbelievable experience. I mean probably one of the best meals in my life time. Our chef, Yoshi, was truly great. He described each course fantastically and out of 16 pieces, there was not ONE that disappointed. I was introduced to so many different flavors textures and combinations. The service was amazing and I cannot wait to go back.Yoshi, you are amazing.
Expensive and worth every penny. Fresh sushi. Wonderful presentation and very good service. Did I mention... Very expensive. One of the few times that a very high bill was matched by the very high quality of the fish. Definitely a good place to put on your list for special occasions. Reservations are absolutely necessary.
Really incredible! More an experience than just dinner. Sushi is creative without forgetting its traditional roots - the balance and excitement of the omakase course makes Gari Sushi one of my go-tos especially when friends and family are visiting. Fantastic food with amazing service.
Just wow. This place has the top tier service, very diligent and polite waiters, and a phenomenal quality in sashimi. I was blown away by the omakase, these chefs know what theyre doing and show every bit of their elegance and skill through what they present you. And the best part is they have otoro! Absolutely worth every penny. Im proud to have had the privilege to visit this restaurant.
I’ve been dining at sushi of gari for almost 17 years now. Started dining at the upper east side location and then started going to the one on 46 street when it opened. I pick my pieces after having the omakase for many years bc I know what pieces I like. It’s always amazing!!! I can honestly say it’s the best sushi I’ve had in the world! I’ve taken friends from all over the world, to this restaurant and they have said the same.
Incredible. More an experience than just dinner. Sushi is creative without forgetting its traditional roots - the balance and excitement of the omakase course makes Gari Sushi one of my go-tos especially when friends and family are visiting. Fantastic food with amazing service.
Some of the best sushi dishes I have ever had. Whether its the fried oyster or the chefs makis (to say nothing of their selection of sakes) you will not be disappointed. Reservations are a must for groups of 2 or more but sitting at the sushi bar is usually pretty easy for a single person.PS they always great you warmly (which surprised me at first!)In a world of mediocre sushi restaurants this Sushi By Gary on 46th truly stands out.
I’m not a fan of sushi; or rather, I wasn’t, until I came here. Many people told me, “good sushi is nothing like regular sushi, like grocery store sushi or all-you-can-eat sushi.” So I decided I would try good sushi once, and if I didn’t like it, then I’d be okay just being a sushi hater for the rest of my life. Some friends took me out to this place, and we each ordered an omakase. The sushi was amazing. Each piece of fish was soft and not slimy at all. It was mouth-temperature, and clean-tasting. I’m not a fan of fishy flavors, but even the pieces I didn’t like per se were still so fresh and didn’t trigger that sense for me. The rice was loosely packed and delicious in its own right, and the swab of wasabi with each fish was delightfully assertive without being aggressive or overwhelming. The rolls were also well-balanced and tasty without tasting like popular clichés of Japanese food.I have to say, I’m a little ruined for sushi now, because I can’t imagine having the cold slimy cuts of my youth when this is what sushi can actually taste like. A few days after that dinner, I woke up craving sushi, and that’s when I knew I could actually say that I like (good) sushi now.
Very good regular sushi. But on special occasions, try the omakase, which literally means leave it up to them. Very pricey, but worth trying at least once. You get the chance to sample sushi that youve never encountered anywhere else, and your mouth will just be mesmerized at the novel culinary experiences.
If youre in the touristy, Times Square/Theater District area, this is a good option for sushi. Service is excellent and the sushi is fresh. Your best option is to order the omakase, but your bill can add up depending on how many extra rounds of sushi you order. My only quibble is that they try some unique combinations like a tomato topping on their tuna, but I think it masks the excellent freshness of their fish.
Very solid basic sushi bar and restaurant which feels on the higher end. I had too many of their rolls, but they were all very good. Its not a cheap place, but they serve up proper fish and rice. The service is also top notch.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Gari 46 has the best salmon that I’ve ever tasted. The fish here is so incredibly fresh that it WOWed our entire party. This beat out the fish we had in HAWAII! We were also impressed by their wine selection (particularly their Kenzo estate wines). Would highly recommend visiting this place if you’re in the area
Definitely splurge on the omakase for a delicious and exciting sushi experience - each bite is so carefully assembled with the right texture and innovative flavor combinations! This location is slightly more spacious than the original location on the Upper West side. If possible, get a seat at the sushi bar to watch the chefs work their magic.
I have never had the chance to get to Gari’s until this afternoon. This place is spectacular. You must order the scallop roll and the hand rolled shrimp tempura. You can thank me forever once you have taken my advice. I owe M&A my undying gratitude for introducing me to these two rolls.
The food here was okay, but not good enough quality to justify the higher price. The restaurant had some Japanese staff, but I didnt notice *any* Japanese customers. We ordered traditional sushi and sashimi in a party of two.The miso soup was not too old as it can be in some places, but came with no lid to keep it hot.The sashimi tuna was of the frozen variety, so the texture was not great, as was the case with one of the other varieties of fish; Kind of mushy. The kingfish, and salmon were better, and didnt seem to have been frozen.Their wasabi was salted, probably S&B or House out of a tube. I dont really like salty wasabi. The chef had tried and failed to hide the ugly ends of the tekkamaki by putting them face down, but length of the rolls was uneven, and easily noticeable. This isnt the presentation standard Id expect from a high end Japanese restaurant where much of the eating should be with the eyesTheir serving sizes were well portioned, with a good rice to fish ratio in their nigiri. The nigiri rice seemed fresh. There was complimentary green-tea, and it wasnt oversteeped, so the flavour was good. Our tea was refilled during the meal. There was only one kind of tea, which I found surprising.Overall, a bit disappointed.
Easily the best sushi Ive tried in the city so far---though admittedly I havent tried some of the places with months-long waiting lists. The chirashi is amazing and great for sharing with a loved one. The omakase (literally Ill leave it to you, the chefs special) is truly incredible, but be prepared to pay well more than $100 for 12 pieces of nigiri. The wines and sake are almost comically expensive, but you can get a glass of (very tasty!) plum wine for I think $6, if you really want alcohol.
I didnt do the Omakase, but had a few nigiri at the bar and some rolls. Not only were they lighting fast, but the quality of the sushi was through the roof. All the little things (rice flavor, portion or rice, quality wasabi and more) added up to be a great experience with legit and tasty sushi.
Scam sales tactics targeted at tourists. Waitress conveniently barely spoke english. Did not present the regular menu and only sold us the omakase menu, while tables next to us ended up ordering by the piece. The omakase quality was garbage in comparison to other places. Not happy
I have never written any food review but I can more bare to not write one. My husband and I came from Vancouver and had our last meal here tonight after watching the Lion KING. When we got into the resturant we asked for the sushi bar as we saw there was space, they said its not avalible so we took a table. We asked for the omakase and the waitress told us because they are closing soon the sushi will all be in one big plate. Basically we were chowing down 12 piece of sushi in 30 mins and paid $300 for the meal that took 30 mins, faster than food court. The lady beside me had the same meal and was done at the same time...we both were very mad when we left. This meal had left a big taste in my stomach for new york. I can not believe they decided to charge us $300 for that piece of junk and did not even offer us any complimentary.......... redicously. Its not the first time we visited new York. We had a great meal there last time. I am not blaming the waitress but I blame the sushi owner or chef for not stopping the order. What kind of omakase experience is it of you force your customer to finish the meal in 30 mins......and make us pay this kind of money. This restaurant experience is so disappointing to end my trip this way. I would give it 0 star is I can.
We have being there yesterday with our kids 6 and 4 years old. Our kids are nice and happy and they were behaving very nice but even so one of their waiters asked us to manage the kids to stay quiet in a very rude and intimidating way. After that the old Japanese manager stayed close to our table all the time which created a very uncomfortable situation. My wife was feeling so bad and the only reason we stayed is because we needed to feed my son which, by the way, was the reason to go there as he asked and love Japanese food. THE PLACE IS TOTALLY KIDS AVERSE, they try enforcing a fancy atmosphere which is not the case for these restaurant. Instead of a happy family lunch we had a terrible experience. P.S. food is ok and expensive - nothing great.
I came here with a friend who raves about the sushi here, but she always does delivery, first time she came to restaurant.Food: salmon with tomato sushi, yellowtail with jalapeño sushi, red snapper salad, fatty tuna and scallion rollGreat selection of sashimi, sushi rolls, etc... The omakase is great (table next to us ordered), looks like a good selection.Service: Slow, slow slow. Took about 10 minutes to get our food menus and get our drink orders. Took forever to get waitress to come over every time.Bottom line, although the food is good, the service + missing menu items sour the experience for me. There are plenty of good Japanese places in nyc that cost just as much, Ill go pay them a visit.
Went for the omakase (where you sit it front of the sushi section and eat whatever the sushi master feels like making that day in the order that he deems appropriate). I had a couple sushi that I could cry for. It is an amazing dining experience that worth the money, if you are okay splurging once on this awesome place.
Worth a 25 minute subway ride.My quest for the best sushi in NYC eventually led me here. I ordered the omakase and was not disappointed. I found the overall experience and food to be better than Sushi Yasuda BUT nowhere near the level of Sushi Nakazawa. That being said, rezys are a lot easier to come by here than at Nakazawa so if you want some great sushi and cant wait a month you should definitely give this location a shot.
The same excellent authentic cooked and raw dishes as the other two locations but a younger non-Japanese waitstaff gives a more casual, disjointed experience. Our waitress gave us our bill while we were still dining and suggested a tip amount- both of which I’m certain would never happen at the UES or UWS locations.
The worst Omikase Ive had in 6 countries. And yet, the most expensive. Chef has almost no grasp of the complexities of texture in sushi and sashimi. Quality of protein was exceptionally low and we were repeatedly lied to about what we were being served. Stewed tomatoes slopped on top of spicy tuna.... we paid $400.00 (2 omikase, 1 bottle of 6x markup wine and tip) to suffer.Service was polite and competent. In closing, it was spontaneously said at my table, This is worse than being at work and we are paying to be here. The table next to us nodded vigorously in agreement.
While the sushi is delicious and the fish fresh, it is overpriced, and the staff extremely rude.Spent $100 per pers for ~6 pieces of sushi, fruit and mochis, and some sake; we were rushed out, the waiter took our fruit plate before we finished it; when paying the hefty bill, I tried to keep a simple ball pen for some work I had to do, and the waiter refused for me to take it, telling me I had to come at least 10 times for him to offer me a pen. They were so cheap it made us laugh. Never going there again.
Ive had better sushi at hole-in-the wall places, and lets be clear, the only real difference between Gari and a hole in the wall place is their wine list and their prices. The plates are pretty, but the atmosphere is nothing special. The sushi is incredibly overpriced, and actually wasnt even as good as many take-out places Ive been to.The best part of the meal was the eggplant app. They also strangely dont have rolls on their dinner menu.Nearby sushi thats better: Toyama, Isakawa Mew, AnNam, A canaan
Absolutely my FAVORITE sushi restaurant in NYC (and there are a lot of them here!) -- the omakase is like a slice of heaven on a bed of rice... the chef manages to create amazing combos of traditional sushi with toppings/sauces/preparations that turn each mouthful into a gastronomic experience that youll want to savor for a looong time. And the sake selection is pretty damn good too!
I thought there must have been something wrong if the best sushi I had to date in the East Coast was in Boston (as amazing as Oishii Sushi was....).Sushi of Gari changed that ranking and reminded me why NYC is still the food capital of the this country - every piece of delectable sushi really gave melt-in-your mouth a new meaning. Normally I would order the sashimi platter, but the reviews prompted me to order sushi - and it did not disappoint. The flavors were unique and complex - no morsel requiring soy sauce, yet no flavor hiding the delicate taste of the fish.Expensive, yes - but definitely worthwhile if youre looking for top-of-the-line sushi. We ordered one sushi platter (about 8 pieces of sushi + rolls) and the omakase (which we stopped at about 12 pieces of sushi) and the whole thing cost about $120 before tip and tax.
Best omasake in NYC. From the moment you walk in you get the sense that this place is special and that you are about to have a magical gastronomic experience. While the menu is appetizing, be sure to do the omasake and leave it in the chefs capable hands to deliver some of the best sushi you will ever have. Of special note is the sea urchin. It melts in your mouth and taste like buttery foie gras. Omasake dinner for 2 ran about $500 but its worth every penny!
I didnt get the Omakase, but I got the Sushi Special which has the pre-seasoned sushi. Not as fancy as the Omakase but a little bit more affordable. The service was great, they were attentive, although a lot of focus given to sake. If you ask nicely, theyll even bring you samples to taste.
The omakase is definitely a must try. A bit expensive, but the ingredients are incredibly fresh. The sear toro almost melts in your mouth. The meal is about $90 for a 12 piece sushi set, but its definitely worth the experience. Other than the omakase, their tuna samplers is also a good choice.Sushi of Gari 46 is medium-sized of their three Manhattan locations. Good for small groups (2 to 6 people).
Sushi of Gari 46 is a very high level resturant for the quality of food. We took two omakase menu, so the chef invented the menu at the moment, thats what omakase means. Every single piece of sushi was an emotional trip, the freshness of food was clear in the mouth. Every dishes were explained by the waiter. The equilibrium of the taste was the secret of the diner. Amazing. At the end we ate 7 fish-based pieces as appetizer, 6 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi and 2 extra pieces of sushi (not included in the omakase menu). There are few tables (maybe 10) and one counter, for this reason is better to take a reservation to be sure to eat here. The price to eat is high but its worth the money. The rate is 4,5 but its not possible to do it so I gave 4. Go for Gari, go.
A great, great experience. You wont be disappointed. The omakase, although $80 or so, is the BEST SUSHI IVE EVERY HAD. Im talking right up there with the Tsukiji market in Tokyo which was also incredible. I can almost say it was worth every penny & Im looking forward to going back.
Out of this world .The best sushi your palate can NOT imagine.., but dont worry, Mr. Sugio thought about it.Creative .Artistic.Passionate .Off the beaten track .Bold.Like nothing else.Amazing service, unforgettable expirince. Its so good , you dont care how much it cost, because Its done from the heart .My one and ONLY NY choice for sushi.Thank you Madstoshi !Albert Einsthien - physicsMicheal Jordan - basketballMasatoshi Sugio - sushi.Thank you !
Technically 3.5 but well round up since this review is based on delivery and this isnt the original location. Before you scoff, roll your eyes, or otherwise want to throw sass at these circumstances, I would, respectfully, point out that Hatsuhana proves that you can judge a sushi restaurant by its delivery (AS IF IT WERE A BOOK AND DELIVERY ITS COVER); also, _no sensible person should or will schlep to the UES just to experience the original_ (because, among other things, its not 2006).My order hit the high points of a standard order. Their rice is fairly good and does elevate everything. However, the fish was somewhat mediocre for what I was expecting and the torotaku was, frankly, a little gross.
I ordered a few hundred of dollars of food for my office from this place at 11:15AM. Did not receive the order it until AFTER 2PM! I am also a whopping 3 blocks from this restaurant! The hot food I ordered was cold. The hostess on the phone with me was rude when I called to ask where the food was, and put me to who I assumed to be some sort of a manager was very rude, and unapologetic! NEVER ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!
What a bad place! While we were waiting our food the waitress come and say we most order more food to proceed because they have a minimum amount and we said we would try some food first and then order more if we liked it and they say no, and decided to go. Very poor service!

2022-02-17DELICIOUS!!My husband and I made a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Wednesday night. I highly recommend making reservations because they can get busy. The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. Everything was super clean and the sushi was really fresh. I thought the price point was very affordable. We did a-la-carte and thought that it was totally worth the price. We ordered the Gari Special which consisted of 8 different fish. Each were all tender and fresh. They were also with soy sauce and wasabi so we were advised not to dip it in additional wasbai/soy sauce. Each bite was delicious and the fish were melt in my mouth good.Their cut rolls were SO good. I kept reaching for more and more even if I was so full. My favorite was the Fatty Tuna roll with scallions. I could probably eat that every day.ALSO, their uni from Japan was delicious!!! It wasnt very fishy compared to other places that get them from a lower quality place. Their uni was creamy and rich in flavor.OK- I honestly had a really great time at Sushi of Gari. Price point was good, sushi was fresh, the servers were super attentive, overall a really great time.I cant wait to go back for some more of their Fatty Tuna roll.

2022-04-24This is one of those places, we are Omakase, it’s probably the way to go.Here are a few pictures from this evening. The fatty tuna was amazing, and so was the salmon. The eel was wow 😮, and my only regret was there was no more octopus 🐙 🤷🏻♂️The seaweed salad and the miso soup 🥣 amazing 🤩All in all - fantastic evening

2022-02-19The tuna of gari is a staple, with 6 different tuna nigiri plus a roll. The eel avocado roll and nigiri are very strong, as is anything with their tofu sauce. This is the original modern Omakase, and while there are better options if you want to spend over $100, this is still a great spot for the $50-$80 range

2021-12-02This is probably the best restaurant option in the Theatre District 🎭. The buildout is of a very traditional sushi restaurant: brightly lit, clean and cozy. The sushi is extremely fresh and delicious. Our server was attentive and was meticulous in arranging our plates on the table so that we could comfortably share our sushi, sashimi and sake. Everything was executed perfectly and we were in-and-out in time for our show!

2022-06-02Nothing short of spectacular every time. Recommend the Omakase if it’s your first time. You won’t be disappointed. Very eclectic menu of sushi dishes. A wonderful experience. I enjoy all their locations.

2021-07-23I have to say I was very disappointed with them after all these years of going to this restaurant. Ive been to all of their locations since more than 8 years ago or so and I used to love them. I haven’t been there for over a year and decided to stop by as Covid situation is calming down, and ended up to be the last time I will ever visit. Service was unbelievably terrible. Waitress was keep pushing us to make decision (though we didn’t take that long) and even asked us to forcefully finish the pieces so she can put next plate instead of her making observation to judge the right timing to bring next dish. Made mistake in the order as well. Quality of sushi itself went down in my opinion as well. There were half cooked rice mixed in the sushi rice which should never happen. Fishes were ok but Uni was very so so. I understand it’s not a top sushi restaurant though it’s not that casual either. I expect better quality and service for $125 for 12 piece omakase.

2022-04-17If you like Japanese fusion then this gem is the best sushi spot in the world. If youre looking for fancy imported fish with wasabi only then this is not the place for you. I literally have the entire omakase menu saved on my phone and I chase similar ingredients around the world. It is that delicious! The torched salmon with tomato onion relish is the best piece of sushi Ive had in my life. I enjoy this place more than three star Michelin sushi spots any day of the week.

2022-03-09What an amazing sushi spot!Perfectly attentive staff and fish so fresh you forget you are in NYC.Highly recommend the tuna selection and Gari Special. Almost every table I could see ordered the Gari Special. Essentially a sampler platter of 8 sushi pieces prepared how Chef Gari intends for the best flavor combo. From there you can decide what you like best but you’ll find all of them delicious and you end up ordering another Gari Special.
