Excellent three roll one special that they offer here wants fresh sushi and it comes the super salad. Had a good hot sake and I saw here and in a ice mug which was perfect. Service here was very good extremely fast and a pleasure to be around but definitely return in a heartbeat
My husband and I love Sushi Sen! The best place to go Low key, Sexy and Stylish Very Sophisticated Elegant the cook and Sushi Chef Always do an Amazing job with the Food and Presentation of the dishes. And the Waiter and Waitress are Always Pleasant kind Very friendly... SUSHI REN IS DEFINITELY THE HOT SPOT and the Shredded Shrimp Mango Salad Is Everything...You will Get your Whole Entire life when you taste it. And the drinks are Greatest.
In my endeavor to identify the Citys most inviting environments for watching sports over sushi, Sushi Ren is a top contender. For its price level, the restaurant is well adorned, with large—but tasteful, not tacky—TVs well within view of most tables. On the menu, youll find an abundance of sushi and other Japanese dishes whose quality, taste and presentation are satisfying, particularly for the price.Servers are reliable albeit transactional, which is fine—even desirable at times—but occasionally inattentive as theyre responsible for too many tables simultaneously.Nonetheless, the Sushi Ren experience is quite enjoyable and an excellent value.
BEWARE***** BAD MEAT !!! We just ate there and my daughter got deathly ill ,TERRIBLE FOOD POISONING from the beef teriyaki. She said it had smelled a bit but was hungry . She stayed home from school for 3 days .I will never ever return !!!! I had been there before and now I am so mad !!!! BEWARE *****
The prices and service are great, but the sushi not so much. I had the spicy salmon and sweet potato and honestly, didn’t love it. The spicy salmon had a weird consistency (they blended it??) and the sweet potato was a bit bland. I wouldn’t go again unless there was nothing else in the area. It’s not horrible, so if you just need to refuel at an affordable place it’s ok.
Fabulous food with a variety of maki rolls and soup. Menu full of cocktails but none made with gin, a bit disappointing, however, the bartender made a great martini! The Nabe Yaki Udon soup was delicious along with the Red lady Maki roll which was crispy and tasty. We went on a Friday night and there was only one wait staff for a full restaurant. The service was much less attentive than it typically is. We found ourselves calling over the busboys often to place our order, get additional soup spoons and soy sauce and pay our check. Would try it again though.
Best UES Sushi restaurant! Every single time Ive eaten at Sushi Ren, whether its takeout or dining in, I feel like Im being welcomed by lifelong friends. I come for the friendly staff/servers and stay for the food! Best miso soup Ive ever had in my life. I wish it came in big bowls. Very reasonably priced food, and the entrees are huge! Nicest staff in all of Manhattan
Good lunch specials at a decent price point. Probably one of the better deals in the area. Bento boxes are great with a decent mount of food. Fully stocked bar. Manager looms over the dining room watching everyone. It was a bit strange. Underwhelming beverage selection. Nice decor. Will return for the lunch specials.
My absolute favorite sushi spot on the UES-and I’m very picky. I come here all the way from Murray Hill because of the exceptional service, amazing lunch special, and the Spicy Girl Roll which I highly recommend!Exceptional service from Henry and Apin who are so attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy/chic with a fun playlist always setting the mood! You must try the salmon teriyaki lunch special which has a huge portion for the price and is so tasty. If you want something simple the smoked salmon sushi is extremely fresh as well.
Horrible customer service. I went there as a 2 person party. I asked to have a table under the roof as it was about to rain. They said no that table was reserved for 4 people only. Then 2 minutes later they proceeded to sit a different party of 2 at the same table they told me I was not allowed to sit at. Horribly untrained wait staff. If you want real good sushi go to Momokawa instead.
Wether you sit at the sushi bar, a table inside or outside depending on the time of year, the fish is always fresh. However for all sushi restaurants avoid Monday. Sushi Ren is always accommodating and never rushes you. The service is consistently good. For a local sushi restaurant it’s a winner.
I always eat at Amura across the street so wanted to try something new and saw this had good reviews. To start off, the sushi lunch special here is more expensive than over there and you get less. Here it’s soup or salad and there it’s both. The soup is better here but the salad was freezing and dressing was watery. My water had a dead fly on the side of the cup which was gross. The sushi is almost comparable but the spicy mayo is better over there. Aside from the food, the sushi maker man was chopping away at some fish during most of our meal which was LOUD and extremely annoying. Overall i would not return and will stick to Amura.
First off… Best Shishito peppers in the city. I guess Sushi Ren does not reinvent the wheel, but sometimes the wheel is fine the way it is. I’ve never gotten anything here that I wasn’t happy with when I left. On top of the food always tasting flavorful and fresh, the service is spot on. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and inviting. You can’t beat the price. It’s close to the Q train at 86th St. and the 6 train.
The best Sushi place in the UES. The miso soup exceeds the taste and flavors of any other sushi resteraunt. The delivery is fast, the cooks are fast, and the food quality is top notch! The crab and eel rolls are to die for. This resteraunt keeps me in the UES. I’ve tried all other sushi places... none compares with, quality and service. As a local Newyorker, this is where the locals go.
To go with the look you get some amazing food. All of the options are so unique and intriguing that it is hard to pick. All of the meat is made with substitutes so the entire menu is vegan. Not only was the meal great but they were very accommodating and were able to fit us in without it affecting any existing reservation. The next time I am in NYC I will definitely go back to try different items.
The sushi is fairly good, nothing special for the area and the prices are fairly standard. What I like about this place is the outdoor seating. For some reason it feels like the sushi places in the area dont have outdoor seating, this place does, which is a bonus with nice weather.
I had been a loyal customer of Sushi Ren for 2 years. I waited two hours for food and when I called I learned they didnt put my order in. When I asked to be reimbursed for waiting over TWO HOURS for my food, I was told that they wouldnt reimburse me and would only throw in a free desert. I cancelled the order. Disgraceful. Dont order from them, they treat loyal customers terribly.
Im not fan of sushi, my friend want me to company her .. She lives nearby this restaurant .. I tried one of her sushi and i love it taste so fresh ... I have a bad experience with raw fish from another restaurant .. Im a little bit picky .. But this restaurant make me forget about my bad experience ... Absolutely will back to this place .. 👍👍

2022-07-23Just ok sushi. I had the lunch special. It was 2 rolls for $13. The rolls were very soft and wobbly. I am more used to a firm sushi roll. I also got a free soup with the order which I forgot to photograph. The soup was a miso soup with spinach. It was perfectly fine.

2022-07-21First and foremost is the super fast and friendly service. I love that I see the same waitstaff there and know I will be taken care of. They are excellent and ensure I keep returning. The food is also great and reasonable prices. I’m not going to say it is the most authentic Japanese food in NYC, but it is very tasty and always pleasant and fun to eat. We always leave feeling we got a lot for our money. Thank you!

2022-03-28Ive never left a google review before but I loved this place so much that it deserves one. Extremely fresh fish (comparable to sugar fish). Highly recommend the sushi deluxe (has a lot more fish than rice) and the red bean/ green tea ice cream (4.50 dollars for a very large serving of ice cream – probably around 1.5 cups)

2022-04-24We love Sushi Ren. My son and I eat here every week. The food is always fresh. The service is exceptional. They even remember our names. I highly recommend Sushi Ren for consistently good local sushi on the UES. The atmosphere is nice and the vibe is casual. Overall great place to go for an amazing meal with great service. It will become your goto sushi spot. Try the brown sugar ice-cream if you have room for dessert.

2015-11-16Nicely decorated sushi restaurant with three massive television screens behind the bar. Serving common sushi lunch boxes with choices of shrimp tempura and beef roll. All lunch combinations come with soup, California rolls and dumpling. Great place for kids, they have training chopsticks. Prices are very reasonably for Manhattan standards.
