What a clean and orderly grocery store! Products were well displayed and everyone who worked was friendly and helpful. Good selection of products and its rare these days to see so many selections made right there...like sausage and smoked cheese.
Great service! Ordered 2 whole pigs for a annual roast with no hassle, no downpayment than a handshake. They even defrosted them for me. You have a customer for life.
Its an ok. I give it 4 stars. Its a good place to stop when u need somethings and are in a hurry. It is like a mini grocery store. The store has a lot inside, ur just limited on brands. I shop there on a regular basis and I always pay cash. I never am in line for more then a few minutes, cashier always greets me and asks if I found everything ok. Prices are fair and I find Sweeneys a lot more convenient then going down town to a regular grocery store. Please be aware that Parking lot wize: please know the lot is shared by other businesses, so beware that if u drive a bigger truck u some times may find urself haveing to park over by the dollar store side.
No service on your phone when you come here, so if you have an internet recipe you’re shopping for, you have to make sure you screen shot it because nothing will load. Also some things are really expensive
Lucky to have a privately owned groceries and more store in our little area. Country charm and the best cashier you will find. Just enough change to make you jingle.
I was very disappointed with the BBQ bundle of meat that I recently purchased...the Spiedies were dry, the hamburger and sweet sausage had no taste..I was very disappointed with all the meat....

Freindly staff will assist you at the deli, meat counter and checkout. Fresh beef, chicken and pork cuts. Local specialty-spiedies, available all year.Produce section is small but stocked with all the basics as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables .
Great small town grocery store. Sweenys is known mostly for the meats that they offer. The meats are really fresh everyday with onsite butchers. The prices a little higher but im fine with if that means helping out a small grocery store. Sweeneys also has a great beer department that is far none. The store is just like a major grocery store like price chopper or weis but compact and made for quick vists.
They have fresh rolls and the best fresh sliced sandwich meats. Reccomended if you like a good sub.
Sweeneys is a convenient destination for those that live nearby, with some decent food and various resources available. The prices are notably higher at Sweeneys for such small proportions. Some of the staff are friendlier than others, and sometimes the deals are labeled incorrectly.

The prices are quite high, but in a pinch it is fine. Makes you feel bad for people buying large amount of stuff, knowing prices are so high. Milk is twice the price of Wegmans, wow.
To all shoppers, please heed my advice: Make sure you check expiration date of EVERY grocery you buy BEFORE you pay, as they will accuse you of robbing the store for dollars and pennies.It says google user, but I am a frequent shopper and live at tioga terrace for years now.I came to get a refund on a expired dairy product they sold, over 2 months beyond expired date.I didnt even receive an Im sorry for selling you the expired product. Only accusation/question I received was did you eat it?NO I didnt because I put it in a smoothie for my child to eat and threw away the whole thing because of YOUR EXPIRED PRODUCT.Only reason why I didnt throw the yogurt at the counter and shouted out was because I will be looked at as the typical *insert race,gender,age here* customer.I am all for small business, but if they sell expired products and ACCUSE ME for stealing them for chump change with not even decency for an apology, I will rather spend my money elsewhere.What a disappointment.

Sweenys Market is a go to for meat. I havent gotten a bad piece of meat ever. When I ask for a special order no problem. Apalachin is fortunate to have a market like this in our community.
Good place to go for last minute or forgotten items. Prices can be a little high on regular items, but they have some very good sale pricing. Staff are usually very friendly!

If you are going to close the deli at 7pm you should have a sign on the door and in your ads.

I found everything I needed to buy. I got some sale items as well. I went to the meat counter and asked for an item that was not on display. The customer service is good.
Nice little grocery store, have some good meats and will buy my meat here over the large grocery stores anyday.
For the locals its great, a family member lives close and its in walking distance, we always find a reason to stop in, as for the kids they love it!

2022-03-19Went there today for the first time in a long time on a friday at 520 PM. Went after a recomendation from a friend for meat curing supplies. Place was not very busy which i mention because the bald manager was abrupt and rude about showing up before 5 for those supplies. I explained that there was no mention of this online or any way to know this before showing up including the call i placed before i traveled with children to go there. The young lady at the meat counter was pleasant and agreed to help me given the situation and was immediately repremanded by this manager following his snippy manner dealing with me. I will find another business to deal with in the future and i do not recommend them as a business as a result. There were better ways to handle this and a simple polite mention of the rules would have sufficed. This was my experience.

2020-12-20Over the past fifty years, I have shopped at innumerable grocery stores. None compares to Sweeney’s Market. It has the same, if not better, variety of goods. The prices are very competitive and the staff is helpful. The freshness of the produce and meats are beyond compare.

2020-11-16I was in the area and figured Id stop and see what they had to offer. They had updated the store since the last time I was there. I decided to order a 12 cold Italian sub. I stated it was $5.99, then I saw a sign for $6.99, but it rang up at $7.99. The sub hardly had any toppings added to it. It was like they couldnt spare more toppings. Other delis offer a much better sub. I wont ever buy another sub from Sweeneys but Id do some shopping from time to time. Here are 3 pictures of Italian subs with everything on them. 1from Sweeneys, 1 from Tulls, and 1 from Shelleys. Definitely shows where to get a great sub.

2019-07-02Bought two 1 1/2 in. thick Rib Eyes to celebrate my first hole in one and my wife and I loved them. Every bit as good as my hole in one cause I grilled them up myself and they were perfect. Great local market that no big chain can match.

2020-04-30I have always been a fan of supporting local small businesses but was disappointed when I went in and there were two customers not wearing masks (I hate them too but I’m still wearing mine). In addition the ad stated boneless skinless chicken breast in 10 pound bags were 1.89 per pound, it rang up on the register as 2.09 per pound. I could have gone to or had my groceries delivered from a different store if I was going to pay that much without risking contact with two unmasked individuals.

2018-10-04Very cool independent grocery store. Excellent produce and meats/deli. Expanded beer section, many craft options along with all the usual budget options. Staff helpful and friendly. Ample parking.
