The cheese and charcuterie platter was embarrassing, with only a few slices of chorizo and 2 miniature portions of cheeses (and beer nuts of all things). Preposterously priced at $25 I think its the worst such platter Ive ever had. Their wine options were slim and not good at all either. If I ever go back itll be for the cocktails as Im told they are good. Theyd need to be to keep this place in business.
Lush interior with antebellum and/or Victorian vibe, even better at night with low light and cushiony, dense crowd. Cocktails are top flight in all senses, making it good for dates, celebrations, and impressivity. Be patient with the table service. Negroni on tap. Beers and wine also available. Super close to Barclays/Atlantic. Go ready to spend, if not to sip. Bill comes in a book.
Sweet Polly is a great addition to the area. The space is cozy and romantic for couples yet can accolade smaller groups for a nice hang. The food was very good and the mixologist concocted some really nice drinks. The only issue I had was with our mixologist, although the drinks were good, he had a slight tude or maybe just lacked personality. Would certainly go back!
Really nice little cocktail spot. They have an inventive, yet approachable list of house cocktails in addition to the classics. There is also beer and wine, but we let the bartender make us something delicious. We had the “Southern Belle” and the “Swing Revival”. Both were well made and tasted great. I’ll come back next time I’m in the area.
Drinks look interesting and the atmosphere outside generally seems chill for Flatbush. Was looking forward to spending an evening here but we left before being seated. The hostess was rude from the start and ruined the experience for us. It’s a shame as so many bars in the neighborhood offer excellent drinks with friendly service.
The drink was too sweet. I asked the waiter if he have any recommendations for a drink thats a little sweet but not too sweet so he recommended the Fro-Quito. My friend and I order the same thing. As for food we got the chicken Liver mousse. Its like a paste like texture. Kinda salty but it goes with the bread I guess. I would come back here again.
Sweet Polly has some of the most charismatic and lovely bartenders Ive ever met and the Venus is my favorite drink so far! I look forward to every time I get to stop by this awesome place and highly recommend everyone to come by for a drink or two. The atmosphere is absolutely on point for being able to enjoy drinks with friends and the food is SO enjoyable and comforting. 10/10 will keep coming back
Amazing craft cocktails. I also had the grilled cheese which was delicious. My husband and I enjoyed the ambiance and the great service from the bartenders Jojo & Blair. Jojo really took the time to explain the drinks and made you feel welcomed. We will definitely return to this gem in Brooklyn.Until next timeJulia & Kendall ( Chicago couple )
Came here with my girlfriend and her father visiting from England on friday night to celebrate her birthday before having dinner close by.Hostess was extremely rude from the beginning. Someone needs to remind her and the rest of the staff that they work at a bar, and not the pentagon. When your establishment is half empty and you’re forcing new customers to “move out of the way” or have drinks outside in 40 degree weather (with no heat lamps) just because one person “might” join us for a toast at some point is just ridiculous. To make a long story short- because of her passive aggressiveness and rudeness we didn’t even bother to go in and order a drink. And won’t ever again. We went to a bar close by (Weather up) instead and had a wonderful experience there. I highly suggest itSweet polly.. just another place in Brooklyn who think they’re the only ones who do what they do. Complete joke
Cute cocktail bar, servers and hosts were accommodating. The drinks were good and the options made it hard to choose. Don’t get the the charcuterie plate. $16 for a few slices of salami, a little pile of prosciutto and some gross haggis looking slice. Texture was too weird and unwanted. Finished with overly crisp bread and some sour pickled cauliflower. Get apps elsewhere.
I have a very good friend whos been telling me about this place since I met her. Its her favorite place for number of different reasons. We only ate a little bit we had these incredible pickled eggs that are very small and theyre and pickled in beet juice. Are topped with an amazing sea salt its a very very interesting flavor something I really think anybody that can get to this place should try. The other item we shared was a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque both of which were surprisingly tasty for something as simple as a comfort food such as that combination. I commented to my partner that the only time I see that on the menu is at a traditional Diner which anybody who read my reviews knows Im a big fan of traditional diners however this is a different rest on it and the cheese and bread are fabulous and the soup the bisque really is super duper sick . These were really really great items . The cocktails are very fancy and original and I tried two different ones cant remember what theyre called but they were both very different. We sat outside but I did manage to make it into the dining room to check it out and its very sleek. Theres some very interesting art including a rendering of the Hieronymous Bosch triptych from the what they believe is around the year 1500 called The Garden of Earthly Delights. Just like the original which is in The Prado in Madrid it is painted on three wooden panels and Ill bet you just bet you theyre the exact same size. I remember seeing this painting when I was last in Spain and its very memorable. Look it up if you havent seen it before. Its worth it to go into this place just to see this painting however I would highly recommend you have at least a cocktail while youre there...The service is extremely professional however I may have experienced The Best of the Best because I was with a hyper regular. Theyre fashionable and fun. The outdoor seating arrangement is actually very cool because of this location theres just a ton of good people watching so sitting out side is the way to go.Those of you who know me and read my reviews know that I eat in a lot of restaurants all over the place and I only review those that I find to be exceptional. Sweet Polly hits pretty much every touchpoint I can think of in terms of a deserving of 5-star rating from me. As I work through the rest of the menu at this place Ill update this review and post some pictures so you can see what Im talking about. But if youre in this part of town or anywhere close do not hesitate to get there. I was very cold and they even gave us blankets with the restaurants logo on them they were very warm and cozy. My good friend who I was with like them so much she said she was probably going to buy one.
Been to this place twice and it is a nice speakeasy to say the least. The ambiance is very nice and the drinks are great. Its as if this place gave you luxury quality for an affordable price. Great place to impress a date and the location allows for options after chopping it up over a some spirits. The wine choices are good and the selection of cocktails are a nice variety.
We came here for a cocktail to check out a new spot. We stayed because the service was personal and lovely. We were blown away by the creativity and execution behind the bar and Im beside myself about the food. Youll come here, as you should, and enjoy many fine libations, as you should. But, the hidden gem at this Cocktail Bar is pure glory that is being plated from this extremely talented and seasoned kitchen. We had basically the whole food menu (except dessert) and we were so, so, so impressed dish after dish and we ordered more, more, and more. This place is the real deal on so many levels. Bravo chef and Cheers to the Sweet Polly Team.
Dont be intimidated by the classy interior as this place is a great neighborhood spot that welcomes any walk-ins. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable about the cocktails they sling but I was delightfully surprised by the food offerings. My favorite was the scallops. It can end up being a pretty pricey evening at this spot but worth checking out if you happen to be in the area.
Loved our first visit here, exciting cocktail menu full of old classics and creative inventions. The bar tender was wonderfully fun. The atmosphere is fantastic with an upscale decor matched to local illustrators artwork. They also have a variety of tiki inspired drinks on the menu with the mugs to match. While more pricey than a simple bar, the homemade ingredients and stylings make it worth it.
Drink was good, but expensive. Bartender was exceptionally rude over a minor miscommunication. Everyone has a bad day, but wouldn’t come back as it was really over the top and drawn out. Ambiance is nice otherwise and similar to that of many manhattan speakeasies. I’ve only written 5 star reviews prior to this one...
This is a very cute place, I love the ambiance. I like to come here for drinks and small plates. But I do know people who have ordered food and have said that it’s pretty good. The bartenders are usually really cool. If you don’t come for happy hour it can get a little pricey.
Really nice spot with great ambience, good range of classic and crafted cocktails, offered with fresh, tasty seafood dishes, charcuterie, and cheeses. Service is great. Only wish they had more comfortable seating.. if you cant score a bench, youre on a stool at small tables or the bar.
This is a great place to grab a unique and delicious cocktail. We were in town for a wedding and stayed at the Hotel Beresford nearby and decided to check this place out. Really nice vibe here, cool decor, attentive bartenders, and like I said - really good cocktails. If I lived in the area, this would be my hangout.
Most gorgeous Charcuterie platter, gorgeous salads, and home made Sweet Polly sauces makes this a divine experience. Packed at 3pm on a Saturday. The service is fantastic. Every part of this experience made me feel like I was in a high end Sweet Polly in Italy.Sweet Polly
Oh boy... we booked this place for a Sunday brunch with family because there were 8 of us and knew we needed a res somewhere. We show up and order drinks, or at least try to, two of the 3 of us got our drinks right away, but the third drink took 20 minutes to get. It was NOT busy at all, at we put in our food order right away: eggs and salads, stuff that should take 15 minutes max. An hour later, we are still waiting for food, Im on my 2nd aperol spritz, and the waitress makes an excuse about how the kitchen is in the basement... ok. The food was only so-so, the truffled eggs were very good, but the side salad was grossly over-dressed. All in all, the experience was toooo much time spent waiting for simple food that was only OK. Everytime I looked up the only waitress in the whole place was on her phone and barely paying attention. If youre going to drink, it seems like a good place, but would absolutely not recommend for food.
Great cocktails, but server added extra tip to my bill. Im one of those people who matches up my receipts with the line items on my credit card statement, and my Sweet Polly bill was $1.50 more than what Id written down. I dug a little further, and this place has some pretty outrageous suggested tips on their receipts. Instead of the standard NYC 18%/20%/22%, their suggestions are 25%/30%/35%. So someone upgraded my $9 tip [on a $45 check] to the $10.50 suggested minimum. Bottom line: if you patronize this place, pay cash.
Amazing - kind of crazy I’ve waited so long to go. Super chill place and ambiance with great drinks / food. Also incredible service, aside from the staff being very fun and friendly - they offered us a free round of drinks and were ever so polite / apologetic because the food took a little long to come out.
Very cosy place. Maybe a bit too cosy with the tables a bit close together. The decor was very tastefully done though and the bar area is really impressive. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Food was a bit disappointing as the flavors were a bit bland in the small plates. Was expecting a bit more from this place.
Overall the place is ok.I wish I could go there everyday— but it is more of a date spot. The drinks are great, but not at a price where you could go very often & the food looks really good, but is smaller portions and again priced just right for a date, but too much for the daily.
By the time my friend and I hit Sweet Polly we had already abandoned 2 nearby resturants (333 grill/bar + Piquant resturant/bar) because they didnt acknowledge us.Within seconds of entering Sweet Polly we were warmly greeted and seated. The space was hip and classy. They played jazz music and had Heironymus Bosch paintings on the wall. The service was attentive and detailed (think salt bae). The clientle was diverse and chic (felt like I was in an Anne Hathaway movie). The menu consisted of oysters, cheese plates, well drinks, cocktails, and fancy finger foods. The bathroom downstairs was minimalistic and spotless (two of my favorite things)!!!Everything had an upscale but accessible/welcoming vibe. Costlier then other local options (in my opinion) BUT it was worth the customer service experience and warm atmosphere!!! I will return/recommend.

2022-06-14Delicious cocktails, food and love the design inside. There’s a pretty plant wall that’s simple but adds a lot in terms of mood and ambiance. Went for Happy Hour the other day for the first time. Had a great time and loved my drink. We also ordered some nibbles to go along with our drinks and everything was delish. I think we had the beet salad and hummus? I forgot. But remember loving the flavors. Can’t wait to try it again.

2022-02-14Drinks were delicious with a lot of variety. Food was okay, but I would go elsewhere in the future for food. With that said its a cocktail bar so great food is not a criteria

2021-12-11Great ambiance and very friendly staff - packed on the weekends so you may need a reservation if you want a table inside. As someone who loves gin cocktails I was a bit surprised by the lack of diversity in the menu, with only one gin cocktail available “on tap.” Perhaps it is just their winter menu, but many of the cocktails also used almond or walnut liquors, which were off the table for me with an allergy. If you’re looking for a selection of vodka cocktails, you’re not going to find it here either - predominately dark liquors, rum and mezcal.I’m willing to give it another try in the spring or summer season, overall a nice experience but not exactly what I was expecting from a cocktail bar.

2022-05-23One of my biggest pet peeves is a bartender who fails to acknowledge a customer standing right in front of them. It to me is one of the most disrespectful acts in the service industry. I visited here on Friday evening, and was greeted warmly by the hostess. The bar was less than packed. I then proceeded to order drinks for myself and a friend, so I went to stand at the bar placing my hand on the bar and looking dead into the bartenders eyes to acknowledge I wanted to place an order. As I tend to respect a bartenders craft when they are making drinks and not bark at them, I waited. The bartender then went on to turn his back, continue shaking his shaker, turn back around, and do everything it seemed in his power to avoid eye contact and take my order. I stood there for over 7 minutes, fixed on him waiting for him to give the slightest acknowledgment as he proceeded to make other drinks, til it became so apparent that I was annoyed, that the other bartender standing at the far end of the bar came over to take my order. I then proceeded to give her my drink order, but then thought to myself, nah, im good. I wouldnt want to give my money and have tips pooled with such a poor excuse for service bartender. If its not your night, call out, go home. But if youre on the clock, have the decency to acknowledge a customer standing directly in front of you. If you prefer customers to bark at you, thats fair. Just wear a sign next time.

2022-04-17Great drinks. We found service a little slow given there was just few table occupied. I wouldnt say its good for brunch, since it has only appetizers.

2020-11-15Hello!!! Visiting from south florida we found this golden bar far away from tourist new york city areas where they are still learning how to treat customers. We had a table inside (25% capacity) by the plant wall close to the window... Ordered two orders of empanadas (3 per order) which were very tasty.Drinks by killer bartender NAZ were top notch, no words can describe the style and dedication. Just look at the pics people!!!See yall soon on my next trip!!!

2021-06-12Excellent little cocktail bar on the edge of Prospect Heights behind Barclays Center. Cocktails were creative and delicious as was the queso fundido. Waitress was super nice and extra friendly. Great experience overall and will definitely be back. EDIT: Staff here have ALWAYS been super nice! And the cocktails are consistently tasty!

2019-08-27I really liked it here! At first I thought it was too noisy but I realized I was just being silly. Its a very cozy environment to bring your partner or some friends to chat and have some drinks. Our waiter was very friendly and very attentive. I originally was going to eat anything but then I decided to order the grilled cheese and Im really glad I did. The bread was pretty crunchy but overall it was really good and it was great with the pesto sauce on the side. Would definitely recommend coming here! The drinks were pretty pricey but overall good.
