Blew me away! I couldnt believe I was in NY. Perfect sand that went as far out as I could, so there was no sticks and muck underwater. The water was so perfectly warm. The little town was really cute and fun. There was big waves too, we had to go buy boogy boards to ride them. I loved this place and cant wait to go back! Oh and theres a life guarded section roped off for the young ones and the rest is swim at your own risk with no rules.
The big roller coaster was closed for painting, and apparently has been all summer, although its not mentioend anywhere. Several rides and buildings were closed, and employees have to run multiple rides so kids often have to wait for the one they want. We also didnt realize how many rides our 3 year old could have done with the regular pass, instead of the under 48 pass which only covers 4-5 rides. So we ended up buying tickets for $1.75 each just so we could do a few rides together. For us, not worth the drive (1 hour 40 minutes each way) and cost ($100 for three of us, I only did one ride) to come back.
Its a way to kill some time if need be. The place is still run down with over half the stuff in Playland out of order. The arcade was decent but pretty expensive if your trying to collect tickets for a prize. Most of the other games around the park were closed. The little diner in the park was very expensive, dirty and the food just edible. The only plus side I saw was the workers. They were nice, polite and went out of their way to try to make it fun. If your traveling more than 20 minutes just to visit the amusement park I would suggest finding something else to do.
Im going to give this 5 stars because I have been going there since I was born and this is an important attraction that needs to be preserved. The rides have to meet state guidelines, and Im not aware of there ever being an accident to due something being wrong with a ride. A lot of the younger generation might want to raze this place to put up ANYTHING else, but they would regret it eventually. This is a beautiful slice of Americana and history that reflects a simpler, but fun time that many people have only begun to appreciate since being under pandemic restrictions. If you go here, be sure to first read up on the history of the area - both Oneida Lake and the amusement park.
Been going to the amusement park for several years but today will likely be our last time. After paying $31.95 for each of 3 all day ride passes for my grandkids we discovered 3 of the 9 rides were not operating. The sign at the ticket booth said all rides were working. Complained but no one really cared. And it was their 3 main rides (roller coaster, rotor & bomber). Then had to pay $7.00 each to ride the number boats. Badly understaffed and just not an enjoyable day
So we had fun 😄... however you gotta be ready for the vibe. Why did I think 🤔 its a bit of a drive , shouldnt be too ratchet 🤣😂🤣. It was VERY ratchet. There was a lot of Maury audience members on the beach ⛱️ lmao thats all Im saying 🤷🏻♀️!! But if you are mentally ready for the audio and visual display its cool.
Our family of 3 have been there twice in July both times were enjoyable our granddaughter has met new friends and had hours of fun with the rides and games. To me it has the feeling of a County fair midway, we will be back to Sylvan beach again this summer for more good times
Friendly employees, cool vintage flat rides and arcade games. Not getting 5 stars because management expects everyone to use Facebook to see that the coaster prominantly featured in their Youtube ad is closed for the season for a paint job being done by one family (ie very little COVID precautions needed) that easily could have been done last year.
Terrible. The hours are not correct on the website. The prizes in the skee ball and fascination are 50 years old. They are so cheap that they no longer give 50 points if you win on fascination if there are less than 8 people playing. Really, a JOKE to say the least. I have gone there several times just trying to find something affordable for me and my grandkids to do and they have been disappointed EVERY TIME
Its OK. Its much more a historic site than an actual amusement park. Rides are dated, rickety and even old, dead ones are off to the side, awaiting disposal. The arcades are straight out of 1950, which is actually pretty cool to look at, but most of the old games arent working anymore. Staff is sparse, but so is the crowd. Fun for people watching though!
This was a good spot over the summer to get away for the day. There are games, rides and food. Its like a mini fair. This is not 6 flags so dont expect huge roller coasters. This is geared toward kids. When youre done the beach is right there so you can relax while the kids build sand castles and swim. Overall the whole little area is a decent spot. There are a couple of souvenir shops too. Its only seasonal so youll have to wait for the warm weather.
Couldn’t rate high enough. I had so much fun coming here with my family when I was younger, and I continue to enjoy my annual visit. Although I wish that the buildings would be a bit more polished, I get it. This place is so much fun and I have enough memories here to last for a life time. Hope the Royale gets done soon because the home made ice cream was delicious. 10/10.
Nostalgic carnival rides. Lots of places to eat in walking distance. The beach doesnt allow seeing without lifeguards, but Ive never seen lifeguards and there are always swimmers. The water is shallow to way far out from the beach so its fun for all. Parking is $1/hr, disability parking spots are free.
This is a small lake side amusement park with a wonderful selection of classic rides. My first visit was about 15 years ago and I finally got to return and probably enjoyed it more since I have been to many parks since my first visit, and I understand how rare some rides are. I love the classic pretzel dark ride, Laffland. Also there is a galaxy coaster, a tip top which is very rare, a rotor also rare, and a great mix of other rides like bumper cars, Scrambler, tilt a whirl, bumper boats, etc. The kiddie rides were beautiful. I had a blast. They have Fascination, skee ball, some classic games, a gift shop. You can get a ride bracelet or individual ride tickets if you only want to ride a few things. This is a wonderful classic amusement park, with beautiful neon. If you have not visited in a while, please stop by, it is a good place unlike most places that we have anymore. If you have never been there, take a few hours to stop by and visit, its something different than most places that you will see today!
Love it here, always have. One of the very few old style amusement parks left in the state. Definitely has its own character. Awesome place to come at night and walk around and take a breather. The beach portion has gone downhill over the years because of the groups that now go here.... Local restaurants are awesome.
Still a good place to bring the kids for a staycation. Beach swimming is free but no lifeguards. Park rides are usually 4 tickets each and kiddie rides are 2 or 3 each. You can buy 40 tickets for $50 or a band ( but not all rides are included with it). Lots of arcade games (with the usual redeemable prize tickets).Various places offer burgers, fries,& typical fair food, but theres also restaurants for some nice meals. Pancake House, Captain Johns, Cinderellas etc..Very popular is the family style eatery called Eddies which has an eclectic menu from hot ham sandwiches and grilled cheeses to homemade strawberry shortcake. Expect to wait in line to get in during peak season though.Area Parking is metered and change is not returned so bring quarters as well as bills.Attend free concerts, swim, visit merchant and craft vendors, grab an ice cream or stroll along the water. Camping and cottage rentals are also available if reserved ahead of time. Great to take visitors from out of town. Enjoy!
I have been going to Sylvan Beach over 50 years. They have rides and games for all ages. They have a place that sells food and ice cream. I think it is reasonably priced for amusement rides and food. Their beach area (Oneida Lake) is a good size and they have lifeguards.
I spent forty dollars and road two rides with my kids then they rode three rides by themselves on the kiddie park a lot of money. You pay alot to have a little good time with your kids. I feel they steal from you a bit but overall the kids enjoyed wish we had more money but it is what it is.
Honestly I’ve been here and it was fun but it’s clearly still the same it needs redoage to the rides and arcades the foods a rip off people shouldn’t be swimming either when there is no lifeguards to be seen. Something happens to someone there screwed! There’s been so many issues happening here like that we here on the news and stuff people drowning ecoli blah blah blah you name it the beach is great but sylvan definately needs a redo! The spaghetti place out there is great! But it burnt down! :(
(1) star, WE WILL NOT RETURN .... we took our 6 yr. old granddaughter there, hoping she could go on the rides. we were there on tues. rides only open on weekends. there is no more free parking. everything has a parking pass dispenser, or private lots. also prices were high, expect to pay $6.99 for a grilled cheese sandwich for your child. (and it was SMALL ! nothing like it used to be in the 80s and 90s. very quiet (almost deserted during the day) (during the week)
The rides dont have seat belts and throw you around. Im hurt from the rides. I had to hold onto my son and hold on to the bar to keep us safe. They need better safety at the park. Try getting some seat belts and not having the rides throw you around like a rag doll. I have two bruises and my knees are hurting me. Thanks Sylvan beach amusement park. My son thought he was going to die on the bomber ride and I thought we almost were going to die. The Himalaya ride is where I got bruised because my son slammed into me when the ride was at full speed. It was too fast and also too extreme. Theres no seat belts on the kiddie rides either it isnt safe. If you like rides that arent safe with no seat belts that put you and your family in danger then Sylvan beach amusement park is for you. Rides that throw you around like a rag doll.
I grew up in Sylvan Beach every summer and the amusement park (Midway) has not changed at all in 30 years. Although the nostalgia is appreciated, a fresh coat of paint, some sidewalk and building repairs, and some updates would surely attract more people. It is sad that some of the rides and buildings are in such disrepair. Management should address the issue before somebody is injured.
Back in the day this was most likely a fun place to visit. Now its run down, worn looking, most games are not operational. Its Its depressing. Visited again this past weekend which was Pirate Weekend. Other than the parade, there were no crowds. Makes me wonder how long the amusement park can continue to be in business.
The upkeep of this amusement park is terrible. The spiders are taking over the amusement park. The spiders are as big as you are and the rides sound like they about to break down Im so glad I didnt take my grandchildren because the place is horrible I would never recommend anybody to go to that amusement park
This place is a classic family favorite, but it is in need of some MAJOR TLC. A little paint would go a long way, and some of the rides werent operational when we were there. The prizes for the games are old and dated as well. Just a few updates and this place would get 4 or 5 stars from us.
They need to freshen up the town and rides,it use to be a cool little town back in the day.Ask the Oneida Indians to come in and help. You could create a nice little retreat for the family. We need to stand up as a family and nation realize everyone needs to just ask our neighbors for help.Dont let this place go to hell. Its about taken care of one another. Make are grand children proud.
Its not a bad place especially for kids, their ticket prices have gone up but the rides are all still the same the arcade is apparently its own entity and although it lies within the park it is actually not part of the park and is pretty expensive. Its a solid place to take your kids and burn some money and time for a day every once in awhile but not all the time.
Great stopover before crossing Oneida Lake to stayovernight or to just relax browsing the beach, amusement park & bars, all in same immediate area. The public wall is at the lake entrance, lengthy, & directly in front of two great restaurants of many but, no power or water. Very nice!
Its a fantastic place for the family. We went to the pirates parade at Sylvan Beach Amusement Park. Alot of fun. Many families went to the park to see the parade and eat pizza, ice cream, and sorts of foods along the road sides. Plenty of parking in along the Amusement Park. People at the beach , kids and adults, as myself went swimming, waiding in the water and making sand castles. Just having a great time at the beach. Amusement rides running and peoples having fun, fun, fun. All types of boats in the water, and docted along side of the land. Beautiful views of such a wonderfully day at the park. Picture perfect.
They really need to upgrade and not have thing so expensive. Because people come with children and it hard for a family of 4 or more they cant afford to enjoy the rides and feed the children. That is sad. I started going to Sylvan Beach Amusement Park when I was 5 years old and that was 1955. And now its like nothing is there to have fun. For anybody adult or kids. This is my opinion.Thank you
Absolutely terrible! Nothing was running most of the games were closed and there was literally nothing going on! Paid for parking until 9:00 stayed for approximately 30 min. What happened this used to be a CUB staple and now its just a run down ghost town. PS the employees look like they would rather be watching grass grow than be at work!

2019-08-10I visited for the nostalgia. I was looking forward to playing the old time games like skee ball on the same machines I had played on as a child at Playland. While the very same machines are there, it seemed that they had not been serviced in decades. Many were completely out of order, while others only partly worked. Without the lights working it made it nearly impossible to track your score when rolling the balls and without the lights and sounds it just didnt seem as fun. I visit every couple of years, but this time it was so disappointing and sad, I probably will not be back. As you can tell by the pictures, the place was totally dead. We were the only people at each attraction we stopped at in the amusement park late afternoon on a Friday in August

2022-03-21Went to Lake House casino. I played the slots and came out ahead. Already crowded and the lake is still frozen. Probably wont visit often because parking is very limited. Way too much congestion in this tiny village in good weather for me but obviously not for other people.

2019-06-30Its, uh, kind of a place that time forgot. Free entry, pay for rides with tickets or an all-access wristband. If youre in the area, check it out I guess? The workers were pleasant and professional, anyway!
