I have been to this place twice and I couldn’t speak highly enough of everything they have to offer. The ambience, the clientele, and dishes are high quality with amazing taste! Sitting at the bar was entertaining. The bartender was very engaging and fun to talk to. I know there’s a lot of places to dine around the area... but this place is truly worth visiting. You won’t be disappointed! Happy eating and be well.♥️
This Mediterranean tapas place is the classiest secret of 10th Ave in Hells Kitchen. Popular date spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations get taken quickly but they usually have some space for walk-ins. Wine is on point. Cocktails are mixologist level.Tonight I got a French rose because it was so hot out. We had the Taboon trio dips with their freshly baked home made bread: babaganoush, cauliflower hummus, and traditional hummus. Then we had the zucchini called which I could eat a meal of by themselves. My wife had a Taboon salad for her main and I got the lamb kabob shepherds pie with tomatoes and eggplant. The breaded crust on the top of the per was freshly baked as well — perfectly flakey and doughy. Im never eating anywhere else again.Happy eats.
Wow. The food is so special, so delicious so well designed. I cant describe the flavors - they are so unique. A friend took me here because it was my birthday. It was memorable. Had the cauliflower, octopus, and salmon (starter, mezze and main). The staff was so delightful. I highly recommend.
The food is absolutely amazing. I love middle eastern food and everything here hits home. The atmosphere is great, always an attractive crowd. The staff are so friendly and attentive. We don’t have to wait forever to get our food or asks for anything. The waitress saw me about to pour my own wine and she ran over to pour it. This felt like a fine dining experience and the outside seating is so romantic. I love this place. It’s my favorite restaurant in all of NYC and it feels like home.
The food was beyond this world. It was amazingly delicious. My entire family was highly impressed! All our dishes were phenomenal! From the bread, tea, salmon, sea bass, salad, and dessert- amazing! The flavoring and detailing in every dish...AMAZING! The service was amazing as well! I wish I noted our waitress name. She was amazing. The place was very inviting. Def a most go; you will be impressed!
At the time of making the reservation, there was no disclosure of a 2 hour time limit. When reservation was confirmed by the restaurant via text, there again was no mention of a 2 hour limit. Upon arrival at 6:30pm, we were told that we would have to vacate the table by 8:30pm. I was meeting my friend from CT for the first time since COVID started and were looking forward to catching up. At 8:21, the waitress puts the bill on the table. We tell her we would like to order dessert and coffee so she calls the manager over. After going back and forth about how this two hour policy was never mentioned at the time of the reservation or confirmation, he states “that is our mistake and we will fix it but you now need to leave. We will not be serving you anything else.” We bought coffee from the deli a block over and drank it outside in the freezing cold. Been coming to this restaurant since it first opened. When my girlfriends and I would go to the theater, we always ate dinner here first. It was our usual spot. Never expected this type of disgusting behavior. Obviously never going back.
Amazing food! The staff is super friendly. Its one of my favorite go-to places in the neighborhood. This restaurant serves the ethnicity food and the lounge looks nice. You feel like you are overseas. I recommend the lentil soup, it is best of the best. You have to try their mix grill, its unbelievable.
Wow Taboon was my favorite restaurant of our entire NY trip! This restaurant had a hip, warm, vibrant ambiance. Cool decor and lighting - very modern. The waitstaff were amazing and friendly. They took great care of us and made our visit a so nice! Everything on the menu looks delicious! We had their house made focaccia with the trio of hummus, baba ganoush, and spicy feta spread. The baba ganoush was my favorite! So smokey with little pops of fresh pomegranate. We also had the lamb meatballs which were incredible. For entrees we got the lamb gyro. It was really yummy but we were surprised it was more of a salad on top of house made bread instead of a sandwich but regardless the flavor and presentation was on point! Id love to come back to this restaurant again! Thank you for a tastey and lovely experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed! I got the steak and my wife got a fish dish. Both were cited perfectly with great flavor. The atmosphere was very nice around the holidays and the staff was very attentive and cordial. If looking for a high quality place off the beaten path, this is the place for you!
We ordered Taboon through Seamless, for some reason couldn’t leave a review on the app. I just want to say the food from Taboon is amazing!! We ordered the salmon and schnitzel and they were both absolutely amazing.Thank you Taboon Family for helping me have a wonderful meal for my birthday during quarantine. You all are amazing!!
The best Service Ive ever experienced hands down. Came during restaurant week 2019. Made a 10pm reservation and called ahead to say we will be 5 minutes late and the employee said the kitchen closes at 10... So we were like why do you take reservations that late then and frustrated. However, the manager told us to come as fast as opossibl. On arrival, he had kept the kitchen open for us, gave us complimentary champagne and delicious bread as well as the best food recommendations! The food was absolutely to die for, so delicious.... And probably the best Mediterranean food Ive had in the US. But the experience was even better and the generosity and service of the manager was out of this world! Will definitely be back next time Im in NYC and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Fine dinner, attractive space, attentive service, and lovely wine. We stupidly arrived without reservations but they got us seats at the bar where we enjoyed a delightful dinner. I was expecting mom-n-pop ethnic, and was very happy to be pampered by such an upmarket restaurant.
Dining here makes eating a lovely experience. You could just sit there and watch the very exotic and friendly staff if the food wasnt so good. But it is. You can see the massive wood fired oven and fresh vegetables cooking as you enter. What they do with it is fantastic! Impeccable experience - thoughtful, attentive and friendly service, beautiful food and welcoming atmosphere. No they havent paid me to write this :)
My #1 restaurant in the hood, and one of the best overall in the entire city. Mediterranean food cooked in a wood burning oven....fish, lamb, hummus, etc. If you haven’t eaten here yet I genuinely weep for you. Not only the best food and cocktails but the best restaurant staff ever assembled. Everything here is top notch and if I could afford it I would eat 3 meals a day here.
We came here for happy hour so I can tell you is that the bread and drinks are excellent. We saw other diners food passing by and it all looked awesome (although I have been warned by a friend that the cauliflower is underwhelming). I would definitely come back here again for drinks, but dinner is kind of expensive so I dont think Id eat a full meal.
Came here for dinner, small and cute place in hells kitchen. The staff are friendly and attentive. The wine list is small, but diverse and unique. Had a bunch of meze which were all excellent. Get the cheese bread, it was amazing! The Lamb kebab main dish was only so-so, but it was presented in a unique manner. Good spot, would come back.
Really great food, tasty and good selection. Lots of easily sharable plates. My BF ordered lamb kabobs that came w a nice table presentation (not advertised on menu) that enhanced the experience for the whole table! Excellent service. Good cocktails. It was a little too loud for me (I’m not old and deaf btw!) and although we didn’t start dinner until 9ish, it never “quieted down” the later it got.
Great mezze, mini mergues and a lot of beans but delicious. Not so great entrees, short ribs were dry and served with a ton of humus. The lamb gyro was more a good tasting bread and salad with yoghurt dressing. All prices are increased with four dollar compared to prices on the website, but no tax on the bill🤨.
Guys come here for their focaccia! Seriously it is worth the visit! Fantastic with hummus and avocado spreads, really had a good time. Just a little not-so-negative but still not exceptional note on service: too fast, too concerned, we are here to relax so, all the more when it’s not busy at all, please relax as well. Anyway very good experience!
Very bad experience in terms of customer service. As a visitor to NY I wanted my family to have some nice memories of the city but visiting Taboon was a big blunder. Went on a friends suggestion. Food was high on presentation but very average in taste. When I asked to clear the dishes and get my cheque, suddenly 3 servers rushed to clear my table. We were surprised on their behaviour and to our shock one of them knocked down the glass full of wine on my friends dress spoiling it badly. With least apology, they continued doing their work in big rush. I was embarrassed for my friend as we were heading straight to a Broadway show and she was smelling like wine. On top of all this, instead of compensating our server added the charge of the spilled wine to my cheque. I was very surprised on his shameless and unapologetic attitude. Would not recommend anyone to visit Taboon, the worst restaurant in NY city.Exactly 4 weeks later I received the visa statement and I see I have been charged 20% more than the amount I swiped my card for. Luckily I had my receipt and when I called the restaurant I was informed by the manager named James that the waiter Diego who attended my table added 20% tip on his own after I settled the bill. Basically fraudulently he added 20% more on my card. James assured that hell take care of the reimbursement but I am still in shock with this daring breach of trust where the waiters are ripping off the customers with fraudulent transactions on their credit cards.I will be reporting this fraud to the appropriate authorities to ensure Taboon and its owners are taken to task.
I had heard so many great about Taboon over the years, and I couldnt wait to try it. So I was quite disappointed when I finally went there, and the experience was underwhelming. We ordered 2 types of shakshukas. My friend ordered the regular shakshuka, which was nothing special. I ordered the forest shakshuka which supposedly had smoked duck and wine braised mushrooms on it. Delicious it sounded, but it was definitely not. There were a few flecks of leathery stuff, which I suppose were bits of smoked duck; and the wine braised mushrooms were awful. However, the most disappointing part was the service. Our server was polite but uninterested, and it near impossible to get her attention, even though the place was not crowded. The ambience is great though. Oh well, we wont be going back anytime soon.
Great food, great service, wonderful ambiance. I would have given it 5 stars but they have the audacity to charge $2.50 for refills of iced tea. I realize overhead is expensive in Manhattan but the food is relatively expensive. The practice of charging for refills of a very small glass (6 oz?) of iced tea is robbery and just feels like they are taking advantage of customers. Little things like that matter. Otherwise, our experience was outstanding. Too bad such a small thing had to impact it.
Finally. After many months passing this always busy establishment it was time to try it out. Now I know why they are so full all the time. Comfortable warm feel to the dining area . Bar was full and place was bustling. We sat outside on a comfortable N.Y.C. evening. Middle Eastern food with a unique twist. Roasted beets , a great Tabbouleh salad with finely shaved paper thin cauliflower, and a perfectly cooked Branzino Devine. Friendly staff great food. Table for two or more very soon.
The bread coming from the oven of this excellent Middle Eastern joint on Tenth Avenue = drool. You get a free loaf if you order dinner, which alone is reason enough to eat here. The small outdoor dining area is really pleasant on warm days and the white-hued dining room feels warm and friendly. Never had a bad dish from this menu. My only complaint is that i wish i could go more often, as I always end up spending over $75 on dinner.
Compliments to the chef! I have never said that in any previous reviews, so I mean it. This restaurant has (focaccia?) bread as its main carb. I did the hummus/tzatziki/herb cheese appetizer and it was very filling and super delicious. I had the a chicken dish for the main course and omg, it was amazing. Everything is listed on the menu and you can taste every layer described. I would recommend. Its a nice place for drinks, dinner with friends or even a date.
Great seafood plates with the Spanish Octopus dish as a standout. It was cooked perfectly, a hard feat to accomplish. The setting was lively, yet intimate; a perfect place to catch up with friends or have a date night with your loved one. Recommend to friends to try in the HK area.
First off very pricy and the waiter seemed easily irritated by us asking many questions but we just simply wanted to know what it was. She was not very attentive and it can get very loud if your sitting by the bar, also very low lighting inside at night. I got a shrimp appetizer and some type of grits in the center they didnt pair well together and seemed spoiled to me. Just giving it two stars because the hummus trio was good.
Even if we didnt live around the corner, wed come back to Taboon. The atmosphere and the friendly staff make it a winner in Hells Kitchen. We end up sitting at the bar most times weve been there because its been so full and the staff has been great to interact with.Definitely get the starter sampler with hummus, etc. The warm pita from their wood oven plus the homemade samplers are a great way to start. From there, take your pick, but we like the zucchini cakes and the lamb for sure.
It wasn’t a pleasant experience. The food was ok, but bad service. Tables were so close to each other that u feel crowded . The worst part was so rude bus boy or waiter (bold with blue/light eyes). He was so disrespectful and kept bumping into us and walk away without saying sorry or saying something. He refused to take empty dish away, and said he clean the whole table once we are done. I wanted to talk to the manager , but didn’t want to make a fuss. But it won’t be a place to return to or recommend. That’s for sure.
I rarely rate restaurants, partly because the ones I love I want to keep for myself. Taboon is outstanding, flavor explosions from the chopped salad to the savory lamb pot-pie. Our server Allison was charming, welcoming and an expert guide to the menu and overall experience. Taboon must be Mediterranean patois for a true taste a kaboom!
Food is terrific. Service, by nice people, was very slow. I had read the reviews before going the first time (tonight) and the only knock on the restaurant was that on a cold night it would be best not to sit in the front room. Thats where our reserved table was and when I protested got a real attitude from the large lady at the front desk. I did an imitation of Donald Trump and we were very quickly showed to another table. She commented that I was being feisty. Now why on earth was that necessary?
The brunch here is delicious. Its usually pretty busy so making a reservation is your best bet (learned that the hard way) its not the most spacious but what it lacks in space it makes up for in charm. The staff is always friendly and gives great suggestions on food pairings. Great for a girlfriends brunch or out of town relatives you actually like brunch lunch or dinner. Service is swift and mistakes on orders are minimal ( I eat there a lot) my favorites areStartersTHE BREAD!! With any dipThe shrimp stuffed peppersEntreesThe salmonThe seas bassThe French toastThe parfaitDessertsThe Rice puddingThe Knaffe
Taboon is a treasure, combining interesting, fresh Mediterranean dishes, great cocktails, a warm and comforting environment, and skilled and friendly staff in kitchen and up front. This was perhaps my best restaurant experience in many trips to NY. Do try sharing numerous mezze as we did; meanwhile, on my next visit, there are several entrées I look forward to experiencing.
Food was really good, service was ok, a bit loud inside when busy but reasonable for todays standard. Good wine selection though they stress Greek wine which is to be avoided. Food is very good, many items are wood fired. Breads and falafel are extremely good. If it was a bit less noisy Id go 5 stars.
What a gem! We had our daughters graduation dinner last week and it was fantastic! The familys still talking about it about how delicious every dish were! We had ourselves a top notch waitress - she handled a party of 7 flawlessly. Someone in our group dropped a fork - and she came by 30 seconds later with a replacement fork (we didnt even ask for it, she heard it!!). We ordered many dishes but shout out to Egg Burek and Chicken Taboon - the risotto was to die for! Youll see us back soon!
Poor front door serviceI have been eating at Taboon since it first opened many years ago. The owners are lovely and the servers are professional. I have had many lovely meals here. I guess you could call me a regular as i eat here a lot as it is two blocks from my house. They have great food here. I started eating here in the beginning when there would be 10 tables all night. My friend and i decided to eat here for dinner. We didnt have a reservation so since it was 9:30 i decided to walk over and meet him there. I greeted the host who ignored me. I explained that i didnt have a reservation and asked how long it would be. He told me that it would be an hour and that he needed my phone number. He told me that he couldnt give me a table without my phone number even though I decided to go to the bar. The host treated me like a piece of garbage. I looked for one of the owners at the tables by the door but he wasnt there. I watched as the room started to empty out. No one arrived for any of the empty tables. At this point i had been there for 40 minutes. I went to the deskto asked again and was told that all of the tables were taken for late reservations. After an hour we were seated. We were the last table seated. No one else came in. This new person who is working the door should not be employed in the hospitality industry. I was a waitress for many years and have never seen this kind of behavior tolerated in a restaurant. Thank goodness for the servers, bartenders and the guys in the kitchen. If i could rate this experience a 0 I would. From now on i will not eat here unless I know that the owner is there. If you have to eat on 10th Ave go to Melagrano for Italian, Method for Izakaya or Toloache for Mexican. This man has ruined a beautiful restaurant. Our servers (one was in training) were lovely.
Wow! Excellent restaurant. Came here after a show at the MCC Theater. Goes into the you get what you pay for category. Atmosphere is a very cool, subtle vibe. Attentive but unobtrusive service. Specialty cocktails ($17) are very well made - I had the Spring Negroni. The El Guapo appetizer of an herbed bread with tremendously flavorful hummus with a breaded fried avocado stuffed with pico at its center was extremely tasty and very filling. The halibut (a daily special at $44) was also great and also a very filling portion. 5-stars - which i very rarely give on google.
My wife, daughter, and I went to an early pre-theater (O’Neill’s “The Iceman Cometh,” starring Denzel) dinner one evening a few weeks ago at a place highly recommended by plenty of restaurant buzz. Taboon (52nd & 10th) gets a lot of good notices, and with very, very good reason. The food, ambiance, service, and overall experience in this Mediterranean/Middle Eastern venue all are excellent. As my dining companions were not drinking on this particular evening, I sampled a couple of wines by the glass; both the Sancerre and the Rioja were very nice. The many appetizers and meze options (see pix of menus) were more attractive to us than most of the entrees, so we focused more on them. For starters, we shared the excellent spicy tuna tartare with avocado (I wanted at least a couple more) and the awesome whole smoked melanzane (eggplant) in tomato sauce with burrata (I want this every day for the rest of my life), with the complimentary focaccia bread (oiled and rosemary-ed to perfection). We followed that with the Dorade Royale for two (delectable), the Crab Shwarma (I’m not sure why it qualifies as shwarma, but I won’t question a dish with this set of multi-layered flavors), and the cauliflower (beautifully smoked in their wood-burning oven, a/k/a “taboon,” and slathered with labneh [yogurt/cheese] and olive oil).We all agreed that we want to return to try Taboon’s other creative and delicious offerings. I suspect we’ll be back soon.
One of the best middle eastern meals Ive had in the city! With a reasonably priced list of wine bottles, Taboon serves up some fantastic mezzes. Id recommend the sambusak, the el guapo and the baked cauliflower. They have an outstanding outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice and service is very prompt. Expect to pay around 35-40 dollars a person with drinks!
Went there with my girlfriend (shes really a restaurant girl... shes a waitress and she likes GOOD restaurants).I would recommend this restaurant if you stay in Manhattan. Everything is good but you kinda have to pay for it. But Im pretty sure its still a good price for a good restaurant in Manhattant near Time Square...
I REALLY wanted to like Taboon after having quite a few people suggest it to me, but unfortunately our experience was not great. We had made a reservation a week in advance for 8PM for 6 people and confirmed it. Day of I get a call asking me if I could come instead at 8:30PM but I politely declined saying after a day of travel for my guests 8PM is the preferred time. Fast forward to us getting there and having to wait over 20 minutes past our 8PM reservation to be seated as they did not want to ask the guests at the table we had reserved to please move - mind you this is after Ive been told that they showed up late for their reservation and had proved to be difficult so no one wanted to deal with them. Only offer we received during this very long wait time was to have our coats put aside for us - no complimentary drink or focaccia or (quite frankly) anything to try and rectify the situation. After being rushed through our meal (although the food is VERY good), and our server was fine but after our experience not enough for the 20% tip already included on our bill, it took another 15 minutes for them to locate our coats and bags. All in all there are plenty of places in New York that not only have great food, but amazing service. Taboon could be wonderful if they treated all of their guests like VIPS but sadly I dont believe I will return as my $500 would be better spent elsewhere.
Its unassuming from the outside but once you step into this restaurant, you are transported to a lively, energetic, and delicious Mediterranean restaurant and you actually feel like you are outside of NYC. Everything here is delicious including the cocktails. I recommend highly for special occasions and date nights.
I love Taboon. Despite waiting in the entrance for several minutes to be even greeted hello, once seated I had a wonderful meal with wonderful service. The whole branzino is spectacular. Get it whole, not filleted! The fresh focaccia from the taboon is always magnificent.
Excellent food. very crowded for a monday but most midtown places are if they are any good, which this definitely is! had to sit at the bar but the bartender did a great job. the watermelon salad was like a little party in my mouth - outstanding. the hummus and tzatziki (sp?) with the homemade bread were both delicious. the lamb osso bucco was terrific too. i would definitely eat here again.
Outstanding Middle Eastern food! Excellent flavors, creativity, presentation, atmosphere and service. We did not experience a single dish that missed the mark. On 10th Ave and 52nd, still close to the theatre district but just far enough away where the restaurant has to shine for itself rather than its location...and it does. Has become a personal favorite and a nice break from the many surrounding Italian options (Il Meligrano, one block away, is pretty good too if you are looking for Italian).
Came for Summer Restaurant Week 2016. Placed a dinner reservation at 5PM, place was pretty empty.App:Taboon Dip Trio: Not a huge fan of the hummus, the other two dips were great though, went well with the complimentary foccacia bread.Grilled Peach & Tomato Salad: Absolutely lovelyFalafel with accompanying dips: Delicious and warm, they were cooked perfectly. The dips that came with the falafel were refreshingMain:Chicken: Came with cous cous- had a bite and was abandoned for the rest of the meal. The chicken was a chicken mousseline with foie gras and black truffle, essentially the stuffing under the skin was tastier than the chicken itself as the chicken was dry. Had to liberally use the sauce that came with the dish to make the chicken palatable. Also that wedge of grilled cabbage was horrible. Bleh. Left so much stuff on this plate for the waiter to take away...Grilled tuna sabeech style: Better than the chicken, recommend this dish! Ate everything clean from this plate. Tasted like summer for sure!Dessert:Sorbet Trio: The flavors were amazing! They were all so fragranced and really refreshing. I love mango so if there is mango sorbet I will love it.Silan: Really sweet, and the halva strands melted in your mouth like cotton candy! Really fun dish but stay away if you hate sweet stuff.
Landed here accidentally because Azuri Cafe right down the street observes the Sabbath and we didnt pay attention when looking it up. Very happy we screwed up though, because this restaurant is amazing. Definitely expensive, but well worth it. The interior has a very nice Mediterranean feel to it, the waiters are knowledgeable and courteous, and the food is fantastic. I highly recommend getting a side of their hummus along with their sampler ($14) of Turkish staples (Babaganoush, Tzatziki, Schoog). Will definitely repeat.
I live right upstairs from taboos they are crowded every day. They cook with the ovens that hold wood so they cook with wood stoves. They are fantastic. I wish I could bottle the smell that comes up stairs from the cooking I would make a fortune. Thank you God bless a very good restaurant in Hells Kitchen Saturday and Sundays thats all we get in this building is people yelling and screaming outside your store your business. Remove the bench when you open put the bench back out. Patreons dont even sit there. The people that drink and smoke weed sit there. Before you open and after you open. Saturday and Sunday we like to sleep late the people in this building. So please miss the owner can you have a word with those people outside. And take the bench in into you open your establishment. And wakes the kids up the babies people that work during the week like to sleep a little later on the weekends. So dont stroke them chase them. They wont let them go between the buildings they chased him out of there now you got twice as many people hanging out in front of your establishment. People of the building well appreciate this very much. PS some of us do eat downstairs. Just have a word with them. Thank you very much people of 501.
When I stepped inside I was pleased to find it was not only spacious but beautifully decorated. Low lighting, clean accents and a rustic feeling. And that oven! You could just smell the aroma of fire-roasted foods waiting to be eaten.Their signature, known-for flatbread cooked in the taboon oven was ridiculously delicious. One bite and youll be transported to your food happy place. It was well seasoned, crispy and buttery. As well as it came with a trio of dips--homemade hummus, tzaziki and baba ghanoush. They were all silky, earthy and creamy.(Appetizer) Creamy Yukon Potato and Asparagus Soup: Very creamy & savory and just hit the spot with all this cold weather happening lately.(Entree) Chicken Taboon: Organic free-rang chicken breast with cured lemon, Israeli couscous, broccoli rabe, pearl onion confit and all topped with a panzanella salad. This dish was very refreshing, light and refined. The chicken was tender, juicy as well as flavorful. All around it was a great dish.(Dessert) Silan: I saw so many outstanding comments about this dish and had to try it. Decadent vanilla ice cream with puffed rice cereal, date honey, caramelized pistachios and shredded halva. I have no idea how this was thought up but thank you to whoever did.
I ate with a group so I was able to try a variety of dishes. The general theme is Middle Eastern Mediterranean Food and it was fantastic. We began with a Taboons trio of Humus, baba ghanoush and tapenade. The baba ghanoush and tapenade were fantastic and the bread to scoop them was perfectly done. Then we moved on to Pita Falafel (nice) and Kadayif Scallops Benedict, which was fantastic. Next we had some Sambusek (feta bread), which tasted much better than it looked. For my entree, I chose a Halumi salad, which was unique and good. For dessert, we shared the Knaffe, which again was unique and excellent with a touch of rosewater and goat cheese in a dessert format. All the while, I had an Opah drink and and Apis. Those drinks may have been the best part of a fantastic meal. I love mediterranean food, so I am biased, but this meal was fantastic in all respects.
Probably one of the best places for mediterranean food. Everything was excellent, the food, the service, the place... Its lovely to enter there and have the opportunity to see the cheff cooking on the taboon. More than a dinner, it was an amazing experience. Highly recommended, well done!
The entrance is very small so when they mismanage their reservations there is nowhere to stand without being in the way!!!!! BRUTAL mismanagement! We waited half an hour for our table that was reserved in advance and left because our table never became available!!!! No offer for a cocktail or an appetizer. NOTHING. NEVER AGAIN

2021-01-05They have a lovely outdoor area setup with rooftop covering and ample ventilation and indoor heaters to keep you warm and toasty. Staff were very friendly, attentive and accommodating. My first visit to Taboon - BRUNCH, bottomless.Food: Lamb gyro was a winner (if you are lamb fan, worth trying - big portion so a great split item), the Moroccan Shakshooka was also lovely and the lamb sausage in it was quite delicious. What is a mediterranean meal without over indulgence in lamb?!? If you are sharing party, theTaboon Trio came out with the most amazing bread and definitely warmed us up instantly.Drinks: The mimosas were beautiful, light and yet effective. Cocktails were also quite nice. Watch out for the coffee - this was my second visit and the coffee, unfortunately was very disappointing and had to request a fresh brew which was later served to some degree of satisfaction.Look forward to exploring other items on their menu, perhaps over dinner and dessert!

2020-02-27The staff are so friendly and attentive that I would give 5 stars just for the service. Our server was informative, knowledgeable and patient as we asked a lot of questions because we don’t understand some of the Mediterranean terms. Perhaps the restaurant may consider menu with pictures? There’s another staff who collects used plates and replaces with new ones and top up our glasses with water. He was very efficient!! I’m impressed!I have to say that it is rare to have Michelin star service in a neighbourhood restaurant.Ok, time to comment on the food which is simply amazing! The chicken (main course) especially is probably the best tender juicy chicken with crispy skin in Manhattan! I think this is down to the Mediterranean oven that they use to bake.To start, we were served with freshly baked house focaccia with rosemary on top straight from the oven to our table. It’s warm, it’s soft inside , it’s heavenly! We had three starters : cerviche, crab shawarma and tortellini. Love them all! Lots of crab meat, tortellini were so yummy with beef(?) inside. Cerviche with white fish is just refreshing.Main course as mentioned above, it was perfect! Our server recommended desert: Silan which is mouthwatering.Highly recommend to make reservation because this place is always packed.

2021-05-09It was good to come back to Taboon and bring the kids this time. The food was very very good. Not quite excellent, but very very good. The menu felt a little more limited, but still had all the things you would expect from a mid-eastern inspired menu. The overall issue was some of the food had too much flavor (salt) and some was lacking. The hummus was heavy on tahini and the taramsalata very salty and no lemon flavor. But the feta dip was excellent. The burger was a huge hit with my son, and my daughter loved the falafel. My husband had the hummus bassar which was a hearty plate. My entree salad very tasty and light.Service was friendly and attentive. The kids definitely want to go back, so if it works for them, it works for us.

2020-12-07Excellent mediterranean restaurant. The house focaccia bread is very tasty. They have a selection of different hummus which are very authentic, aka not like the american hummus. The dessert really topped it up. We had Silan which is like a combination of breakfast cereal and ice cream on steroids.

2019-12-25Quite excellent, dare I say, one of the best Israeli-brunch places I’ve visited in NYC. The service is impeccable, very attentive and sensitive to any special requests. The location is fantastic as is the actual decor, well done, intimate setting. Now for the great stuff, the food! They have a bunch of different sweet or savoury options, many types of Shakshukas. I had the merguez version and it was excellent, both in taste and presentation. Their bubka (see photo!) is to die for, best to share as a dessert as its huuuge. They take reservations which is another plus. Don’t hesitate, just go!

2020-08-04Really good brunch with delicious Mediterranean/Middle east food. Wide selection of Shakshoukas and other egg based dishes with huge portionsThe drinks are a tad expensive and there was no brunch special

2019-10-17This place exceeded my expectations. We shared the trio appetizer with the babaganoush, feta spread, and the hummus. The bread that it comes with is superb and worth the carbs! Bronzino and the Taboon salad with lamb kebab were both delicious. Also get the date sponge cake! Service was attentive. Will definitely be back.

2018-02-16Not easy to get a reservation here so plan in advance. The atmosphere makes it a great spot for dates. Their restaurant week menu does not disappoint. The quality of their meats was on point and paired with fresh ingredients that took your mind off of the cold weather outside. While I was able to get a taste of the lamb I would also recommend the kebabs. I would also avoid the deconstructed lasagna as the flavor of the ingredients were lost in the lasagna. Be sure to try the silan as your dessert, the coconut shreddings literally melt in your mouth.

2016-09-21Its a bit hard to rate a place like this. I really enjoyed the food but for the price I really expected more. The standouts were the house bread, the shishito pepper appetizer and the lamb kebab pot pie. They were all great, especially the peppers which is surprising given that they are among the cheapest things on the menu. But the other dishes we had were a problem. The halibut my date had, the Hermine, was slightly overcooked and according to her, surrounded by a sauce that tasted like it was from a can. Our server, Allison, was very attentive and really a perfect server. At least the service was on par for the price. But really when youre pushing $40 an entrée you expect more and this restaurant doesnt meet those expectations.
