Tacombi in other cities:
Stumbled across this little gem on the way to another Mexican restaurant, it did not disappoint. Food delicious, service great, would definitely go back and try more of the menu. I had the Mexico City style roasted pork (Adobada Burritas), and it was really amazing, so tasty!
***2 1/2 stars***I recently started working in the area, and Tacombi caught my eye pretty quickly. It has a pretty noticeable exterior that sets it apart from some of the generic Financial District establishments (from my meanderings, the restaurants seem to either be super flashy or not in the slightest; no middle ground), and around lunchtime the giant doors are opened up so you can see inside and ogle the little cocktail bar. They also have one of those outdoor popup dining situations right off the sidewalk that have become kind of a vestige of COVID restaurant life. Its an interesting decor - theres kind of a tiki bar, Mexican cantina vibe, and oodles and oodles of tile that reminds me (not in a bad way) of a high school locker room, minus the sweat and teen angst.I stopped by for a quick lunch yesterday around 1:30pm. It was decently crowded but the hostess immediately seated me at the small bar near the front (in my experience, restaurants seem to be super on their toes for sit-down customers by themselves, I suspect because those customers dont have anyone in their dining party to distract them from a potential wait time). The menu/ordering process is unique in that you have to take a golf pencil, mark what you want and hand it to the waitress to forward over to the kitchen. Id done a little prep work beforehand and opted for the roasted pork burrito, which showed up within about 10 minutes.Disclaimer - this was LITERALLY only the second burrito Ive ever had. Absolutely take my comments with a grain of salt. My first burrito was an excellent carne asada masterpiece from the Tacoria in Hoboken, which I thought was delicious, and I intend to use it as my gold standard comp going forward. This was definitely not as good. I think you can see from the accompanying picture that the flour tortilla is kind of limp and greasy. It should have been a little crispier, and it wasnt rolled evenly in the sense that a corner of the burrito had extra rolls of tortilla squeezed in where someone realized belatedly that they had some tortilla left over. Notwithstanding that Im not a burrito expert, I would think the mark of a high-quality burrito is the ability to evenly distribute the ingredients (similar to a sushi roll), but there were mouthfuls that were solely pork or solely lettuce. And in terms of personal palate preference, I definitely would have liked having beans in there versus the lettuce. It would have been helpful to have a breakdown of the ingredients on the menu for context so I could have made more of an informed decision in that regard. This is actually a pretty rare instance where Id come back at least to the bar to try one of their cocktails. The service was EXCELLENT from beginning to end. My order was taken within a minute of using the golf pencil, the food came out quickly, someone in management stopped by to check in, and when I needed the check, it was provided within about 20 seconds. It would have honestly been impossible for them to improve on that point, which is a great, intangible quality. Im willing to chalk up a lot of the food issues here to irreconcilable differences (Mexican isnt one of my top genres). If and when I get back here for a night cap, Id love to be able to update this review to something more positive.
Tacombi is located at 74 Broad Street, New York, NY. These people are on their toes. Their staff is friendly and serviceable. The hostess was diligent and you would see the manager going from here to there moving with the flow of orders. Pick-ups, delivery and dining-in and outside dining come together to provide an outstanding service.
Really good street-style tacos. The carne asada tacos are full of flavor. The sirloin is charred to perfection, seasoned well and very tasty. The Verde sauce (served on the side), had a nice bite and complimented the taco well. A little expensive for what you get, but it is Manhattan after all. Id love to come back, but at those prices, not often.
Bad part, the prices are outrageous. The good parts:* Food tastes great* Different options* Lot of indoor and outdoor seating* Staff has always been pleasant for me* Food is made somewhat fastSeeing the prices will probably make you not want to try this place, but give it a shot. I recommend the al pastor burrito.
Delicious tacos in a HUGE space with a good atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a restaurant in this location. I got the Al Pastor and Baja fish taco, and thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband got the Gringa quesadilla and our friend got the bean and queso burrito, and both were very happy with their food.
Me and my wife decided to go to this restaurant after a long day at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We wanted some authentic Mexican food (my wife is Mexican). We came in and the placed looked nice inside and friendly servers, however; when we got the food, it was tasteless. My wife even thought she had COVID because she could not taste anything. I proceeded to taste my food and I experienced the same thing. We had to put salt on our tacos to get it to taste decent. We were disappointed to say the least. In addition, the quesadilla I ordered had barely any cheese and it was very small for $9.
Jorge and Eric were awesome!!! They made sure we had everything we needed. The food was sooo good and the drinks were amazing!!! Will definitely return ! We all tried different things and all of it was so so good. At the table we had the corn, chips and guacamole, fish taco, pork taco, chicken quesadilla, and a burrito… all of which was so delicious! Also let’s not forget the margaritas, which were perfect!
Great tacos, but a bit pricy if youre having this for dinner. I actually think that this place is something you go to after dinner. Take a few drinks and small tacos on the side.Very helpful, serviceminded and kind staff. Help us with what to order for the kids. There are two things that bother me though. I cant understand what to order from the menu, its probably easy for those who eat Mexican food all the time. The text combined with the dim lighting makes it almost impossible to read the menu, Im getting old :-)Second, is it necessary to write toilet in Spanish instead of English? I had to use Google translate before I went. But, the bottom line, the food is great and tasty.
Good news: best carne asada taco i have had probably ever. It was juicy and the salsa verde is perfect. I was nervous about the little strips but i think that’s why the meat stays so juicy. Little corn bowl was good, needed a bit of salt but tasty. Will def eat both of these options a couple times a month for lunch.Bad news: I Honestly did not love their fish taco. Kinda didn’t like it at all. Only reason i took the star off because that’s like their signature taco and it was a whole big miss for me.
As a frequent customer of the upper east side location, I was so excited when my friends and I saw this other location in FiDi. Let me tell you how much I regret it! The tacos al pastor was cold and had no flavor. When I expressed this to the server (a young Latina), she gave me an attitude and walked away. Also, the whole time I was there with my friends, they kept talking about us, especially that young girl, and I believe the manager was also saying things. She is lucky I was in a chill mood and did not confront her. This is an unprofessional location, and tacos are disgusting. I will not be back!
So delicious!!! We had like 10 tacos and quesadillas 🌮 🤤😳 Even on such a cold day in NYC when other restaurants are closed, Tacombi stays open and delivers hot and clean food with a smile. Keep up the great work and thank you for all you do! God bless you to make it through this difficult economy.
Glad I found this place! Best tacos and best service. Quality is 100% for the price you pay. Guac tacos are the bestttt! And they are the most underrated tacos. Tried chicken, sweet potato and bean, guac tacos, absolutely love them. Recommend this place 100%. But a lot of packaging for tacos, management can reduce it and implement sustainability.
Gobernador quesadilla is delicious. The carnitas tacos are very flavorful and the corn esquites are a perfect starter. The michelada has the perfect spiciness to it. Everything is great here and the prices are reasonable since the food is delicious. Totally worth it!!
Fast service and amazing tacos! My favorite was egg taco! Price is a bit more expensive in $5-$8 but they give you a lot of meat. For one person, 3 tacos are perfect. One star is missing because somehow waiters were not so organized and a bit confused in ordering but maybe its because they just opened.
Tacos!! If you love Tacos, I highly recommend Tacombi on Broad St. 😋 The guac and chips are to die for. And if you like margaritas, they make the most amazing spicy margarita around!! My girlfriends and I went out for an early dinner and drinks and we had the best time! I cant stop coming back!
Don’t order through grubhub. If you do your food will never come because they’ve setup grubhub to have the restaurant handle their own deliveries but they don’t if the order comes from grubhub. Tried to explain this to the manager but he didn’t seem open to listening.
Food is good...NYC Mexican good, not California good...but drinks are unbelievably horrible. Went for Margaritas & they brought 2 of the worst Margaritas you could ever have. Low quality tequila poured way too heavy & the wrong amount of mix...and it took almost 20 mins for them to come even though the place was empty? ...Its like the bartender never made one before...never even heard of one....and all for $30 + tip.
The tacos were not bad, but not sure if worth the price. They had decent flavor but really small portions. The service couldve been a bit better as well. We were dining outside and it didnt seem particularly busy, but it either took a while for our server to come back or we had to go flag him down ourselves. We were missing a dish as well for a while and had to re-ask for it.They were very accommodating when I mentioned I had certain food allergies though and I appreciated that.
Great spot for lunch in NYC. Weird start with the hostess seeming like I was the person to ever ask her to dine in, but the waiter was great and came through at ordering by helping us adjust our all spicy choices to better include our 4 year old daughter. All our items were good, al pastor taco being the standout. Food came really quickly too.
Good service. Watermelon juice is delicious. Tacos are just okay. Fried fish was quite greasy. Tacos are served family style which can be very confusing for larger groups and is a bit odd due to the need to place plates of food from person to person in todays pandemic times.
These are very expensive tacos with atypical combinations and a limited menu. The ambiance is amazing, but the food leaves much to be desired. The waiter forgot our guacamole. The fish tacos came cold and dried out. I’ve lived in Texas and in Mexico, and although this place looks authentic, it’s unfortunately just for show. Most of these people leaving reviews are delusional if $7+ for one crummy fish taco is a good experience. It feels as though they’ve spent more time on their branding and interior design than on their food quality and prices. I’d rather go to Barrio Chino for high quality and pricey Mexican food, or Los Tacos No. 1 if I want real Mexican street tacos. Only go here if you promise to yourself you won’t regret dropping $100 on crummy tacos and still find yourself hungry afterwards.
Grabbed drinks and tacos with friends during the weekend and had no problem getting a table. Really enjoyed the vegetarian tacos (especially the tostada)! The vibe is great and drinks are a smidge less expensive than other places in that area. The waitress was super attentive and swapped out a margarita that was too spicy. They also checked vaccine cards to eat indoors which made me feel more safe. We ended up getting a round of shots at the end and the tequila was smooth. Would definitely recommend. Only thing I didn’t love was the michelada. I should have gotten another watermelon Margarita instead.
Food was great! Discovered this place just walking around with one of my friends, definitely pleasantly surprised with the food, came back the next day with my boyfriend because the food was just that good!! The aguas frescas where so refreshing, I even bought some food back for my mom. Staff was very attentive, great experience here definitely recommend. :)
So good we had to come here for lunch twice in one week. The staff are very friendly. One day we sat inside and the other day outside. Enjoyed the location in FiDi. The food of course is great. Love the corn, rice and beans, and the crispy fish taco. But you know that I have tried all the tacos and I love them all.
Everything at Tacombi (regardless of location) is great. Ive always had amazing service and the fresh-made tortillas are next level. My partner and I had chips, a veggie burrito, and the watermelon margaritas (one with spicy tequila). When we were running low on chips for our salsa, the staff also topped us off on the house. Wholeheartedly recommend.
Great atmosphere! Very cute and casual spot yet well decorated and fun. The servers were all ridiculously nice but the kitchen was definitely struggling. Had our orders switched with another table but announced as the food that we had wanted…ending up eating pork when I ordered chicken which I’d assume could be very problematic for some. Definitely an accident and miscommunication between the servers- but we got chips and guac on the house! As for the actual food- yummy, but definitely not worth the price. Come here for the vibes and marg pitchers- not necessarily if you want traditional and/or cheap mexican food.
I had chicken quesadillas and OMG taste like your great grandmother made it on the outdoor wood grill. So so so delicious and not expensive esp for this wall street area. Visit than Chipotle and so much more yummy and authentic. We are going back. And the hostess was super duper sweet. I mean , what more do you want for a quick bite
Most important, food was yummy! I love getting fresh guac. Seriously fresh. Portions are generous. Very. On top of that, the atmosphere is fun while still safe (during covid restrictions). Lastly, the service. Absolutely lovely. Every single person that came to our table.
Did a great job heating and social distancing the outside, which made for a wonderful pandemic dining experience. Food was proper Mexican fare, served quickly to the table. Servers were knowledgeable and drink recommendations superb! Recommend FiDi where its less crowded. Did not wait. Went on a Sunday for free parking right across the street.
Way above average Mexican fare! We had pretty much one of everything on the menu and nothing, including the drinks, disappointed. Neither fancy nor fast food, this place finds that perfect sweet spot between great food at fair prices. Great for a casual date or a group.
Popped in here after doing a statue of liberty tour and wanted to find a good place to pop in and Tacombi was an excellent find.Delicious chips, my girlfriend and our friend really enjoyed the guac. All of our a la carte food was delicious (we each got at least 1 taco and I got a quesadilla as well), the agua fresca was awesome as was the Lupita orange soda!Hope you can expand and get a Boston location, but this will 100% be a stop the next time I am in NY
We are so happy that Tacombi came to our neighborhood. Best Mexican food in town! I would give them 5 stars but every single time i order the vegan burrito they send it with the sweet potatoes raw, even if i ask them to cook them through. I would order more often otherwise. 😉
Eating here was a treat. The food was out of this world...what impressed me the most was that they had so many veggie and fish taco options. My wife and I shared 5 tacos, a quesadilla and 2 fresh juices. All was perfect. The decor is nice and just the open environment of the restaurant felt relaxing. Also, 5 stars to everyone who works here. Its rare to go into a place, and everyone makes you feel welcome. Very friendly all around.Lastly, Tacombi is wheelchair accessible with accessible bathrooms. ♿
The tacos are the best in the neighborhood and I have had them several times now, today my boss asked me to grab her a quesadilla which I thought was a great deal for 8 bucks. That was until I received it, this is the tiniest quesadilla I have ever seen. Do not recommend you order this at all. Stick to the elote and tacos and burritos
I ordered extra fried tortillas to go with my tostada so I could eat it like a sandwich thinking it would be complementary considering the total bill... Last week they charged me $1.00 a piece, today they priced it at $2.00. FFS most restaurants would just make that on the house... Gouging your customers is not great customer service...
By far some of the BEST customer service I have ever experienced! Ordered online and picked up in person. My order was 5-10mins delayed but the staff here ensured my wait was accommodated. Lee and Ricardo offered me chips, water, etc. all while providing great conversation! This location is an awesome addition to the neighborhood and I will absolutely return here because of the amazing experience they gave me! (Not to mention, the food is outstanding and at a great price!)
OMG! I got food poisoning from the vegetarian tacos today. A sudden dizziness and discomfort started soon after the dinner and Ive been stuck in the bathroom since. Ive been vomiting only the tacos -- not the banana I had, nothing else. No way Im coming back here ever again!

2022-02-25Mexico in the heart of NYC! Fabulous, authentic food from south of the border. The spicy margaritas were just the right amount of heat, crisp, and refreshing without a heavy sugar overload. The guacamole was delish and fresh. The staff was kind and very attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely return!

2022-02-06Soooo good!! We got 3 rounds of the best drinks!! Everything was so good and the staff was so friendly! Our waitress, Estefani, was really nice. They were attentive and checked in on us at best times. Casual atmosphere but could be a very versatile venue! Definitely recommend the corn!!! 🤤

2022-05-14A casual spot with a laid back atmosphere and the best fish taco I’ve ever had. The plancha version is a party in your mouth of heat and citrus, succulent fish, and a just the right amount of crunch. Simple yet flavorful guacamole with crunchy chips that hold up to being dipped was a great starter. Margaritas by the pitcher had a great balance between sour and sweet and the flavours of tequila. The service was friendly and attentive, joining in on the fun. I will definitely return on my next trip to NYC.

2022-07-27Finally,some authentic Mexican tacos! The carne asada (steak) and alpastor ( marinated pork) were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The taco was a bit smaller than what I’ve seen, and about $5 each. It can get a bit pricey, but it’s worth it. Also, for those with pets, they have a patio that is pet-friendly.

2022-03-07Ya Omni is a great spot. I absolutely love the interior of this place it’s so different and nails the perfect vibe. The Al pastor tacos are fantastic, The best I’ve had outside of Monterrey. The burrito was just ok, their rice is very very dry and kind of just ruined the rest of the burrito for me. The margarita was a little bit too sour for my liking but overall it was still a solid experience. I’ll just stick to the tacos next time.

2022-06-06Highly recommend Tacombi for their food, ambiance, service, and mission. They have simple, reasonably priced, but delicious and authentically Mexican tacos. We shy away from most Mexican places in NYC as we find most to be more the American or fast food version of Mexican cuisine, but Tacombi is a rare exception. The menu is simple, a few entradas, tacos and tostadas, quesadillas, and burritas. They have cocktails, beer, and Mexican sodas as well. The standouts are the corn esquites, tacos al pastor (maybe the best ever– with perfectly cooked meat and a chunk of pineapple), pollo yucatecho, and the Norteña quesadillas. The decor is campy but not kitsch, with the outdoor street pandemic-era seating made to resemble their original combi bus. The menu and marketing are tongue-in-cheek versions of the ridiculous 1970s exotic travel agency ads; ordering is done by marking your desired items on a paper with pencils from random Mexican hotels. The service is fast and friendly with takeout/delivery available and a points/loyalty reward program. They make their own tortillas and have a general mission to spread Mexican hospitality, end food insecurity, and hire and train people for careers, not just jobs. Highly recommend.

2022-04-09Cute Mexican place in downtown Manhattan.Authentic taste and vibe. The corn esquites is a must try... Burrito is tasty and filling. The fresh watermelon aguas Fresca is very refreshing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in NYC and craving some authentic Mexican food 🥑

2022-08-22Food was not bad. The side of rice and beans were good, however, it would be nice if they had more options for the tostadas (it was cold).I don’t know why they call it guacamole and chips when it’s just a haphazardly mashed avocado? No onions, tomatoes, etc. I don’t believe it was even salted? They also don’t provide any type of hot sauce.I liked that they have a hand wash station in the back and you can mark the menu to put in desired quantity of each item.Although it may not be the most authentic place, it’s easy going, decor is cute and the staff are friendly. My search for amazing tostadas continues!

2022-06-12The food here and service is great. Ive had the chips and guacamole, tacos al pastor, chicken tacos, corn esquites, taco with beans and sweet potatoes, and also their rubio (sort of a pineapple margarita). Ive been twice and I am happy that is has been consistent in flavor and service. The staff are really nice and always greet you with smiles and check up on you. The decor is beautiful and eccentric. Although I cant say its the best tacos Ive ever had, it is still really good. Their pineapple juice/ pineapple margarita is delicious. I think it is definitely worth a try if you find any interest!
