Look, I think that anything I attempt to say about this place will never quite suffice because its really *that* good. However, I will attempt to explain why I have even told people on more than one occasion that their burrito is akin to a metaphorical food of the gods. This is authentic Mexican food at its finest. Its not laden with salt to make up for a lack of seasoning. Its not generic tex-mex. Its no frills, super tasty (they dont know the meaning of bland) and ultra fulfilling Mexican food done right.Lets talk about their burritos. You get a gargantuan burrito packed with the tastiest rice of its kind around (if you opt for the vegetarian option which is *excellent*), your choice of meat, lettuce, queso fresco (fresh), onions, chopped tomatoes, guacamole and a nice tiny sprinkle of fresh grated cheese and sour cream. If you ask for it hot, they really pack a punch with the spice so unless you are ready to commit in that way, you may want to first try it without the super spicy stuff (which, by the way, brings the burrito to a whole other level of awesome if you love hot and spicy food).I cant imagine a world or the East Village without this beloved truck.
Maybe im harder on these tacos than I should be. The Al Pastors pineapple chunks were fresh and the pork distinguishable in flavor. Chorizo leaned towards the side of cheap breakfast sausage. The home-made tortillas were the star -- lightweight and bubbly texture that pillowed the taco on your tongue. Tinga had to be finished quickly rather than savored. Chock-full tacos but not that enjoyable. Still searching for something like the real thing...
This place is freaking amazing!!! I have never written a review for any restaurant in the past, but this place deserves it. I got the chicken rice bowl and it was absolutely delicious!!! Its been so hard to find a legit Mexican restaurant since I moved into the city. Also beware of the sauces they provide, one of them tasted amazing and I knew it was spicy but man did it kick my butt (in a good way)!!!
Stopped here at the recommendation of hotel. Thought we were getting a full-service Mexican restaurant. Not so! No alcoholic beverages (Margaritas!). Have to pay for chips and salsa (not cheap either). Food is very good though. My carnitas probably best Ive had. Wifes quesadilla was huge, as were burritos. A variety of salsas and sides. Good value for meals, but wouldnt recommend chips and guac or salsa for $4.
Adequate food, but they recently added a 4% fee for using credit cards. They put up a small sign about a cash discount, but rather than discount the price for cash they just added an automatic fee for the credit card machine. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in the east village. This place isnt nice enough to justify deceptive business practices.
I live across the street and this is definitely my go to spot for tacos, burritos and tostadas. They have a really great selection and the portions are always very generous. My favorite is the Beef Tongue (Lengua) and the Goat. Put these meats on your choice of entree and you have one of the best bang for your buck meals in the area.
Ordered takeout, after paying she said it would take 40mins to deliver. I called after waiting an hour, they said 10 more minutes. Sorry but, when I got the food, it was not worth the wait. Chicken was burned, not authentic Mexican food. No spice. The guacamole had no sauces or flavor.
Ive brought many people to the taco truck in wburg and was delighted to find they had a store front in the East Village. In my opinion, the best authentic (take that however you wish) Mexican food in New York. To reiterate a prior review: food of the Gods. Especially the burritos.
Oh my God, who is now the nachos from Tacos Cuaulta Morelos, and also the exclamation I feel compelled to utter at their memory. I almost got Taco Bell tonight like an IDIOT! I cannot believe how lucky I was.I got a mushroom quesadilla. When I tasted it, I heard a choir of angels sing.I swear I saw into another dimension. I saw infinity. I saw the curvature of the universe.NEVER say Taco Bell to me AGAIN! I dont KNOW HER!
Its difficult to find good tacos in NYC and were lucky enough to have this recommendation from a friend. CA has so many great Mexican style tacos and due to the geographic distance, I understand the difficulties in replicating its simple yet satisfying taste. This taco truck (now with a recently opened store front) is discreetly transplanted in LES makes for a perfect snack or meal on the go. Theyre known for the beef tongue but Im actually a fan of the chicken tacos! Hot soft tortillas, fresh ingredients and made juicy and fresh to taste. For $2.50 you really cant ask for anything more. On this particular night we were leaving Cienfuegos and on the way out we asked the Bouncer his favorite taco spot and he goes... TACOS MORELOS!
Look, I think that anything I attempt to say about this place will never quite suffice because its really *that* good. However, I will attempt to explain why I frequent this taco truck with wild abandon and why I have even told people on more than one occasion that their burrito is akin to a metaphorical food of the gods. This is authentic Mexican food at its finest. Its not laden with salt to make up for a lack of seasoning. Its not generic tex-mex. Its no frills, super tasty (they dont know the meaning of bland) and ultra fulfilling Mexican food done right.Lets talk about their burritos. For $7.50, you get a gargantuan burrito packed with cilantro, the tastiest rice of its kind around (if you opt for the vegetarian option which is *excellent*), your choice of meat, lettuce, queso fresco (fresh), onions, chopped tomatoes, guacamole and a nice tiny sprinkle of fresh grated cheese and sour cream. If you ask for it hot, they really pack a punch with the spice so unless you are ready to commit in that way, you may want to first try it without the super spicy stuff (which, by the way, brings the burrito to a whole other level of awesome if you love hot and spicy food). There was a 3 day period a few months ago when they werent on their typical corner and I was in a serious panic. I cant imagine a world or the East Village without this beloved truck.
Tacos Morelos tacos are delicious. Their specialty is the goat taco, and for good reason: it is succulent and substantial. The cart has moved on, in favor of their storefront shop on East 9th St.UPDATE: The cart sometimes re-appears at its traditional location on the north-west corner of Av A and 2nd St.
I frequent this spot a lot and have ordered it from seamless circa 20 times, so I like it. I dropped in store today after work and the guy behind the counter was hostile, rude and unprofessional that I left the store.I never post nor would I leave without cause. An awful customer experience that’s led to a good customer being turned away.
False Advertisment of food where the image shows 3 Tacos so we thought we would get 9 to feed our family and only got 3 in total.Along with the wrong amount of food advertised we also didnt receive the right size soda that we ordered being a 20oz, we instead got a smaller 12oz bottle.Really scummy thing to do overall but in the middle of this quarantine just makes things worse.
Would give zero stars if possible!. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.Ordered from them online they cancelled my order over an hour later with no explaination and I was left waiting over an hour with no food. Would have been ok if maybe they cancelled right away. Also ordered food with almost two hours of time before they closed on a Friday.
I was very hungry and I bought a cochinita pibil burrito, but my surprise was that my burrito was practically made of beans, rice and lettuce, Im still looking for the cochinita, in its defense I will say that the tortilla was very good, the tacos are something else , Chorizo with potatoes and pastor, recommended, although the guacamole is not, it is practically sauce although it is not spicy, and the tortillas are advertised as handmade although I did not think so, anyway. It is a very small place, they are friendly, I do not think there is space for a wheelchair, the prices $$ and Unfortunately it is expensive for the quality of the food.
The food is very authentic, homemade, made with love so each bite is delicious. Try the corn tortilla, it is made by them every day: simply spectacular. The treatment and service is first, very close. Especially from the waitress who is very polite and loving. They have made us feel at home. Of course: Spanish is spoken. :)
Congratulations to your cooks, excellent seasoning. Their food was very rich, it was like being in our beloved Mexico, and a very small but cozy place.Unfortunately, their costumer service was not a good thing, the person taking the orders (cashier) was not friendly or greeted. I hope the next time is not the same person.congrats to the cooks !!! the food is delicious! unfortunately bad costumer service, especially the person who takes the orders, she event said hi, she was a hurrybecause she was late for work. Hopefully next time when we go back, is not the same person. By the way, the cooks are so friendly.

2022-08-06Were regulars and after having quite a lot of things on the menu I have to say you cant really go wrong. Id say my favorite tacos are the Spicy pork, steak, and chorizo. The tostada was also very good but tbh I sort of had a hard time eating it since its like a hard shell pizza. But it was still good!

2021-11-19I loved the cemitas. Came here during our weeklong trip to NY. My family and I were on the hunt for authentic Mexican food and we were lucky to come across this place. The customer service is top notch and we left with a smile on our faces alongside a full stomach of good food.

2020-03-24VERY VERY GOOD TACOS. Had to give them three stars cause if the prices. 2 tacos came out to $10.19... They have a very solid flavor profile when it comes seasoning the meat. Although they did leave a lot of fat on the meat, that could have been cooked off or trimmed before cooking. Flavor was solid. I always enjoy a homemade tortilla over one that store bought. I will give them credit for that. There are better taco options in New York and lots for a better price. I do understand that rent must be paid, and workers need to be paid a fair wage as well. With that being said, if the tacos weren’t $4.50 + Tax + 4% Card Fee.... I would have maybe given them 4 stars.

2021-01-24AMAZING! These are absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed every single bite. They are also very big so I think the price is fair! The counter lady was very sweet & the red & green sauce is a must, I would like it to be spicer.

2022-07-15The tacos are big, well seasoned, with amazing sauces. But I find the proteins very dry. Perhaps a matter of preference, not for me.

2018-06-02Delicious! I had a tasty vegetarian burrito and it really hit the spot. I took it to go and they made my burrito quickly. Inside the decor is very simple, small, and they have a tv too. The guy who took my order was very helpful and nice. When I asked tap water while I waited , he obliged. A vegetarian burrito with tax is 10.83. Most importantly it is cash only inside. Hope this helps!

2018-02-17This place is a small gem. Its very simple and straightforward. Its a good spot if you want to grab a quick bite. Im in love with the green enchiladas. The torta was ok. It could be better. This place is good for takeout , and if you want to stay. It only has a few seats available, barely any moving space.

2019-06-26Legit some of the best tacos Ive ever had. The homemade tortillas are to die for, the meat perfectly seasoned and just slightly crispy/crunchy, the avocado sauce light and complimentary. Service was great too.
