Buns, buns, buns!This locations is eh … the Queens location is where you want to go. Their selections are better IMO, and the location is MUCH cleaner.Love the prices. They are low enough for you to try one of everything (over the course of multiple visits of course), which I encourage you to do.
Tai Pan Bakery is similar to other famous Chinese bakeries, but what stands out to me is the sheer number of food options available. The bakery is literally wall to wall with choices for baked goods. Usually theres a big line but it moves pretty efficiently. The service people are behind plexiglass so you kind of have to shout at them if you needed to speak to them.
The pastries here are delightful. I usually stop by this bakery to get my egg tarts and milk tea in the neighborhood. The savory options are worth trying as well. Sometimes, I might be all the way downtown in the Financial District for a business appointment, and when it is all over, I would walk back to Chinatown and visit my favorite Tai Pan Bakery.
Ever since I started working in Chinatown, Ive tried and visited many bakeries around the neighborhood. I must say - Tai Pan rates as a low end bakery as of today. I believe that their bread is a bit on the oily side, and its just OK. Theres a few standouts like the shredded pork with scallion, but still too oily. The service during the morning is horrendous - they got like 5 people behind the table, a short line, and its slower than every other bakery Ive been to. Last week, 3 ladies were serving 1 customer - then I was like... yeah, no - Im never coming to this place again.If you want taste - go to Kamboat Bakery - for the quality of breads and buns, its really a new staple here in Chinatown. For comparable taste to Tai Pan and way better service - go right around the corner to Fay Da or Audreys. Audreys wins on their cakes.
I got the 8” Mango Tofu (芒果豆腐) for my parents birthday on May 1, 2021. The cake tastes very interesting but it’s good and refreshing. There’s a original tofu white layer on top and a mango layer underneath. I like the latter layer more and the whole texture reminded me of the tofu dessert called doufufa. I do wish it could have been a bit sweeter. The mango slices on top were delicious too. There was very little cream, which I love because I hate cream on cakes. The clean up process was SO EASY because there was barely any mess to clean up.The other items I got from them were the po-tats. Omg those were delicious! Thick, creamy center and a crunchy crust! Mmm!
The smell of the bread and pastries coming out of the oven hits the moment you walk into the door. They have so many options which is so good and I had a pork bun and the bread was amazing ..the pork was a bit salty but it didnt stop me from finishing it ._. The other one was a custard bun which was very delicious! (The donuts on the top are from a different place so sorry)
Tai Pan Bakery is my husband’s favorite Hong Kong style bakery in Chinatown. There is a great variety of pastries, dim sum and drinks with reasonable prices.Our favorites were their pineapple bun and fried salted dumpling. The pineapple bun was delicious after being toasted in the oven. The fried salted dumpling was one of the best dim sums we have ever had. It was well-fried with chewy layer but a little greasy.During COVID-19, all the pastries were served in plastic bags which was a better safety procedure than self serving. Compared to their location in Flushing with limited options, the Chinatown location serves with enough supply.

Super inexpensive place for quick sweets. Very minimal customer service as you only interact with them when at the register; you pay and go thats all. If you have any questions about the food they most likely wont be able to answer it as almost all the employees there speak very little to no English. Very little seating area; perhaps 6-8 people can sit.Please like the review if it was helpful 😁
I celebrate my birthday every year with tofu mango cake!Since pandemic, they don’t carry any small piece of tofu cake! I placed an order last Saturday, I picked it up in this afternoon!I just opened the cake, it looks like an ICE or STONE☹️☹️☹️I feel so frustrated!I don’t recommend friends to buy cake from this bakery anymore!
We’ve been coming here for years. It’s a popular Hong-Kong-style bakery with a lot of variety. The pastries here are top notch. The store is conveniently located on Canal Street in Chinatown, not far from the subway station. There’s limited seating so takeout is the best option. This place can get crazy busy on the weekends.
I am their long-time customer but getting increasingly disappointed over the years. Their desserts are pretty good but prices are going up much faster than inflation. Plus their saleswomen are all seniors now with arrogant attitude. This store doesn’t know how to manage customer-line during rush hours so it’s a chaotic scene there. Not sure how long they can survive when next economic recession comes.
Disorganized arena of a bakery where customers and staff yell at each other over the counter and you have to follow your tray while fighting through crowds like a carb-starved gladiator. But the pastries are fresh and delicious, and the ordering experience is just a weird quirk that no one seems to bat an eyelash at. Good buns, both savory and sweet, and a nice spot for hot milk tea on a cold day in Chinatown.
- The Coconut rolls are the reason I bring all visitors here! CoConut rolls are soft bread with cream (whipped cream/cream cheese mixture- i think) with coconut flakes sprinkled on top. There are other locations you can purchase coconut rolls, but I like these the best- This place is always busy- especially high tourist seasons and weekends. Chairs are like finding a great apartment in the city- they dont come often and you have to claim it when you see it! There are some areas to stand as well.- HOW TO: Grab tray, select pastries, wait in line to pay. Some people will cut in line, but stand your ground! haha...no reallyWould recommend!
Tai Pan is a staple of Chinatown, always with fresh affordable and delicious pastries, cake, bread and coffee/tea. My family and I have been coming here for decades and the quality is always the same. I recommend the egg tards, napoleon, and raisin bread. Also the walnut pound cake is to die for!
Best chinatown bakery if you can brave the crowd. There is a reason it is a longtime staple of the neighborhood. They also make the quintessential Chinese fresh fruit cake, which is characteristically light and not too sweet. Also go for the egg tarts, which come in Portuguese or traditional varieties. They also make a fried pork chop bun which is kinda over the top but thats what makes it great. If youre adventurous you can also get the Yin Yang half tea/half coffee drink which is surprisingly good, and often given light and sweet.
Pretty excellent bakery. Although small and a bit noisy, it packs a lot of variety with the expected low prices of China town. As a real bakery person 빵순이, I went straight for what looked best, and I was right - GET THE TAI PAN CHEESECAKE! It is castella cakes ultimate form, with a soft, fluffy outside and hint of cheesy flavor. Not overwhelming or heavy and great with milk honey tea! *Photo comparison of Keki*
My family has purchased bread and cakes from here for decades. Taipan has always been reliable and trustworthy! The vast selection of breads, sweets, and drinks are truly amazing. I also love their lemon rolls - the lemon curd flavor and texture can’t be found anywhere else 🍋definitely try it when you go here. This is one of the best bakeries in Chinatown.
This is my favorite bakery of all time! They’re buns and cakes are soft and have just the right amount of sweetness. It is very fast paced and a bit crowded so it would be a good idea to come here with somewhat of an idea of what you want. Every time I come to New York I go here and they never miss!
Pastries and cake are great here! My go to spot forChinese pastries in Manhattan Chinatown. The service has always been good and swift. The Portuguese egg tarts and pineapple buns are my personal favorites. They’re always fresh and yummy. I ordered a taro cake for my sisters birthday a few years back too and it was delicious.
This place is underrated! My favorites are the egg tarts (egg custards). They are fresh, and tasty. Price has gone up, now its almost $2 a piece. Did I say that they are fresh? Give it a try! Other bakery is good, some better than others. No sitting allowed during pandemic. They have a glass in between where they take orders
Is it worth a trip from somewhere in NYC to come here? At first, I wasnt sure. Afterall, a HK bakery is just a HK bakery, and you can find pineapple buns and egg tarts at many other equivalent places. But there is a network effect here: the sheer number of people that keep patronizing this place keeps the turnover high. At any point during the day you can walk in and the buns there will still be steaming up their plastic bags.Oh, and the buns there are pretty good too, in particular this strange swiss-roll-style with scallions and pork floss on the outside, held together by a not-really icing thats sweet but also a bit lardy at the same time. The mooncake is pretty good, though not the traditional style Im used to - these ones are crumbly and sort of a no bake style.
This is a cash only place. There is no social distancing. Everyone does wear masks. Bring your own bag is best. Half the bakery options are for you to get the pastries yourself with one of their tongs and place it on a lunch tray. The other half is to point at what you want through the display case and a Staff Member will obtain it for you.Their prices are generally fair with a price range of $1.70 and up for each pastry. I recommend their sweet baos filled with red bean or custard.
Absolutely the best Asian bakery in NYC, from the mooncake to the puffs and everything in between. The bakers are super talented and the taste is so on point. Theres this ball deep fried thing with pork inside is just magical. Regret I didnt buy more when I was there. The puffs were so layered and buttery.
Ive been to a few bakeries in Chinatown but today was my first visit at Tai Pan Bakery and lets just say I WILL be returning with my family. Their bbq pork buns were absolutely delicious- soft, chewy, pork goodness! They make incredibly tasty egg custard tarts. It was perfectly balanced in sweetness. Their coffee is a big strong just how I like it.When in Chinatown take the time to visit this bakery. Their food and Bakr goods are yummy, the place is clean and the service is good. Plus the price is right!
A legendary Hong Kong style bakery in Chinatown. They have expanded the business in the past few decades and now serve a wide range of pastries and cakes. Id say this is a safe option but I dont recall anything outstanding here. An example of a historic place where you visit more for the spirit/culture/neighborhood than the food.
There are a TON of different flavors of egg tarts and they are all wonderful. would highly suggest their portuguese egg tarts somehow I find them my favorite.definitely also try:- their different pineapple buns. the red bean is my favorite- the taro pastry with mochi inside- their paper chiffon cake is also greatDo be ready to be aggressive to get what you want (goes without saying in chinatown).
Very rude counter service. Bought one piece orange favor roll cake and one piece lemon favor roll cake, $2 a piece. Both in a plastic case. Brought home, the next morning saw little black spots on surface of each piece of cake , they already perished and growing mildew overnight. Imagine how long they’ve been sitting in the store 🤬
Love the Chinese egg tarts (call a day in advance if you want to order a few dozen) here and the staff is nice and helpful. There are also some good buns here such as the chicken and beef curry buns, pork chop bun, and hot dog buns. Fruit sponge cakes made here are light and not too sweet.
Excellent buns, with tons of unique flavors. One of my favorites is the almond paste bun, but the red bean bun is also delicious. It can be a little hectic—you head to the back of the bakery and serve yourself buns—but Ive found going before 9am is usually pretty manageable.
This is always a must stop for me whenever Im in Chinatown. The interior seems almost futuristic and I love the design. The baked treats are great and nothing you can find at your local bakery back home. The items are all very cheap and so good. They sell bubble tea but there is a tea place next door that I prefer. They have some pretty cool stuff in there too!
Selection of pastries was good, but the items were not all labelled correctly for those not familiar with the items. The tongs were very haphazardly stored and did not appear very clean. The staff were not very observant on who is next to be served and unless you speak up, you will be waiting for quite a while. The portion size was good, but they were priced higher than other bakeries. The sweet pastries was much bigger than expected and best shared.
They have so much variety especially in their egg tarts. They have many different flavors and colors.Their food is fresh and in big buck. So its easy to grab something when you want a snack. I got the dry pork bread and hot dog! Dry pork was okay, wasnt too thrilled. Hot dog bun smells great.There isnt much line so its a quick grab. Buns here are amazing, best in Chinatown. You get a tray and put it on top of their counter and ask for anything behind the glass. Its pretty hectic but that means their buns are fresh. For the shortest lines and freshest buns go in the mornings!Im particularly fond of the sesame balls and hot dog buns.
Ever want any type of Chinese pastry? Come here, and quick! This place is always packed and for good reason. The baked goods taste amazing, everything is fresh, and a trip here is always required by my family if we are ever in the area. Youre missing out if you dont come here, seriously. I will say I dont love their cakes as much as their breads and such, but it isnt really a hindrance and I always want to come here. Seating is spotty as since its always packed, finding a seat to sit down and enjoy your food probably wont happen. But that shouldnt be a reason for anyone to not come here.
Tastiest Chinese pastries Ive ever had! My friend took me here recently and we liked it so much we went back to buy more before leaving NY. Very busy bakery, with lots of people working... the workers are very efficient to keep up with all the customers and fresh baked goods, so dont expect the best service. Nevertheless, I found them very friendly. Fun atmosphere, clean environment, and the best egg tarts and pineapple buns youll taste in Chinatown.
Been going to this bakery for years. Its always busy and sometimes you can get lost looking at all the yummy treats available. Would have given it 5 stars, however in all honesty Ive never found the staff friendly or helpful. Worse yet they dont seem to care about English only speaking clients. The sandwiches are what I make a stop in for. For less than $2 you can get a chicken or beef burger, fried fish or chicken sandwich, and there are pork sandwich options as well. Theyre very good and worth the money. Theyve got many options for deserts and offer full sized cakes and many breads. Seems like the locals really go for the fresh breads and rolls.
There is always a line, but once you order it becomes clear why-- this place delivers some very high-quality pastries. Try the green tea roll cake. It saves well in the refrigerator and can last about a week. How do they get those cute little designs on there? I dunno, but it makes them taste better. A good place to go for a little birthday cake or a few egg tarts.
I have always loved Asian pastries (because theyre not as sweet), but this place takes it to a whole new level. Their Portuguese egg tarts are better than the original Portuguese version you get from Brazilian/Portuguese bakeries. Its more like a flaky, heavenly, tasty pie that melts in your mouth. Their cup cakes taste like a giant fluffy Madeleine and theyre not super sweet at all, my kids loved them. The best is perhaps their roast pork buns.
Wonderful bakery for all my chinese baked goods. They have a wide selection of sweet pastries and cakes but i usually come here for the baked goods. Buns and egg tarts. Go for the pineapple bun and egg tarts for a great snack. Also has wonderful teas and coffees. I particularly liked their iced lemon tea.
Authentic Chinese Bakery with options for traditional and western tastebuds. It can be expensive, not the cheapest around Chinatown but its good and fresh. Plain pineapple bun and tuna fish bun are my favorite. Would be 5 stars if the price is 20% more then the typical Chinese bakery.
We went to Tai Pan Bakery in Chinatown last weekend. The fresh buns are delicious. We ordered the custard tarts, which were delicious with hot Chinese tea. The pork buns were light and fluffy filled with tiny morsels of pork. I love the sesame seed buns filled with heavenly beans. Everything was delicious. The line might be long when you arrive but it moves very fast. There are small tables along the wall to eat in. Very inexpensive for high quality Chinese bakery products. Go and have fun. Dont stress the line. It is a lot of fun.
Whenever I go to Chinatown, Id stop by the bakery. It might be crowded and services can be rushed and rude at times, bakery goods are still superior in quality than other similar bakeries. I especially love the cakes from here., always so moist and fresh. Make sure to call and reserve the cake ahead of time so you can just drop by and pick it up.
I have been to this bakery for a very long time and the food and drinks are still the same. Great tasting and not over sugary (in my opinion). The place is always busy, but the staffs are always trying to service all the customers. Sometimes they do over service too.
This place has the best sweet buns and pork buns around. Its a bit confusing when you enter though, if you want the buns, theyre in the back. You grab a tray and tongs and pick out as many as you want. Then, you put your tray on the counter, above all the pastries, behind everyone else. DONT skip the line or else you will get yelled at in Mandarin. Also if you speak the language, i hear the old ladies in the morning have the best gossip in town.
A very clean chinese bakery with lots to choose from and all at good prices! Its fun and an experience. I bring all my friends who are visiting NYC here. The ordering process is a little tricky and will be confusing for first timers. I wont spoil it for you though -- I think thats a part of the fun and experience :)I always buy multiple pastries thinking Ill have the will power to save some for later. I only come here when I get gift cards. They are slightly pricier than other Chinatown bakeries by a couple dollars. Their baked goods are good but also very similar to other bakery goods.The staff can be mean though. Once, I came in only wanting a cup of coffee and an egg tart which is behind the glass towards the front. I waited in the long line but I didnt grab an orange tray because I had nothing to put on it. When I got up to the front of the line, the lady just looked right over me and took the order of the people in line behind me. And when I told her I was next, she asked me is this your tray? And I said no. So she just took The next persons order and ignored me. So rude. And I stood there like an idiot waiting for the line to die down and asked another waiter who said I had to line up to get served.
Their pork buns are famous and very good. Rice cake with mango flavor was ok- pretty good. I tried a walnut cake which was nice, nothing great about it.The place is usually very crowded. Even on a weekday office hours. I found that very few people srving knows English.
Very busy place, but the line moves fast. I highly recommend the ham and cheese bun & the pineapple bun (just a name, no pineapple inside!). The mango mochi is delicious as well as the mango mousse cake if you have a birthday to celebrate. If youre daring and want to try something a bit new, go for the chestnut cake slice. YUM!
Taipan is one of Chinatowns popular bakeries! Pass by here multiple times while shopping for groceries and would pop in here to get bread, buns, and sometimes birthday cakes. The crowd here is sometimes overwhelming, but the lines goes by real fast. Everything that they have is made fresh on a daily basis, so you know that you are getting the best buns/breads/pastries there is. Not only do they sell all things bread and pastries, but they serve lunch as well. This would be a good place to grab a quick snack if you are ever hungry.
Their cakes taste quite nice and they are not too expensive but sometimes the staff can be quite rude and curt even though this may be due to the fact that there are too many people but it is still disrespectful. When you order a cake, you need to make the order early so they have time to make the cake fresh for you, about 1-3 hours?
Long time running bakery baking most typical Chinese buns and pastries. Not a lot of seats in the store but theres a few by the entrance and in the back, or you can stand at the counters by the windows to enjoy your food. To order, place the buns and wrapped goods (located at the far end once you walk in) you want on a tray using the provided tongs then place the tray on the counter (with everyone elses trays), but make sure its placed to the right of everyone elses so youre not skipping anyone. The nice ladies behind the counter will move the trays to the left as they get to your tray/order. If youre not buying any buns and just want the pastries, you should still grab a tray (located in terms buns area) and place your empty tray on the counter like everyone else, but keeping in line with the other trays. Keep an eye on your tray and a lady will most likely yell out whos tray is this? in Chinese and thats when you can tell them what else you would like (a drink, pastry, other foods etc). Then you pay and enjoy :).

I’ve been a long-time customer of this bakery, and until recently, it was my favorite. the only thing i ordered really was the almond cream bread, my all-time favorite. but recently i’ve noticed the almond cream bread has changed drastically & for the worst, having little to no almond cream filling inside when there used to be a really generous amount, enough that it would be coming out of the bread. i don’t want to be that person, but i probably won’t be coming back here (as this was pretty much the only thing i would order) if the almond cream bread doesn’t change back to its original recipe.
Dan Tat Egg Custard tart Review ONLY - This place is hectic. Its right on Canal St. and there is a constant flow of people standing in line for their pastries and baked goods all day long. If youve ever been to 85 Degree Bakery in Irvine, the feeling is the same. We arrived and they said 6 MINUTES until the next batch of dan tat was ready. We waited and it was worth it! The crust is flaky and the custard came hot out of the oven super soft/silken and very sweet! If youve got a sweet tooth, this is probably one of the most sweet custards Ive had. I generally like the subtle sweetness of this tart and found myself needing to wash it down with some water after. Overall, a very well stocked bakery and would be a great place to get breakfast for the week for the family.
My go-to bakery in Chinatown. Absolutely love the pastries and breads here. I can never have enough of their hotdog bread, scallion roll, egg tarts, and sweet bun (or pineapple buns as some call it, even though theres no distinguishable pineapple inside). The check out line is often a bit of a mess though...
It has been around for many years and to me is one of the staple bakeries in Chinatown. I used to place it mentally into the high end category. Nowadays Id put it in the upper mid category.The food is very good. Price has slowly gone up over the years, but since this caters to Chinese ppl, and Chinese ppl are frugal and practical, the place doesnt overprice everything like some pretentious Korean bakeries.
Just came back from being racially profiled here. I had a loaf of raisin bread I was going to buy but I was also thinking of buying something else so I was still looking at other deserts. Lady thought I was gonna run out of the store with it. Absolutely nothing would give her that impression other than my skin color. So she takes the bread off of my hands. I felt so disrespected, I couldn’t even speak. Please everyone who reads this do not go in there. Do not give them ur business. It is 2019 and this is how they treat people. I feels so bad. I had tears roll down my cheeks at the vitriol of that woman. Please I urge you do not go in there. I really hope this place closes for good. The food is stale anyways. Go to go finlay bakery which is just steps away, better variety, better quality and no rascism.
Tai Pan isnt the fanciest bakery in the world. Dont expect cake boss levels of quality here. That said, what this place does, what it represents to nyc and to chinatown, makes it an unbeatable staple of the city. With quality buns, fluffy cakes, delicious bread, and unbeatable prices tai pan radiates an energy that is distinctly urban and it is infectious. Dont take my word for it tho. Pop on it, get a feel for it. Even if you dont like it as much as i do, youll understand why people love it, and that energy is def worth experiencing.
Reliable Chinese bakery in the heart of Chinatown. Practically everybody and anybody knows it by name and has at one point or another visited it. I go there on occasion to kill time and have a cup of milk tea and a couple snacks. Yes, Im guilty of it. I want to go every time Im in Chinatown... but there are an increasing amount of options but not exactly nearby. Theyre not the cheapest but they are very consistent, and thats perhaps what keeps people coming back. They offer cakes, on-order too as Ive had some here now and then.
Tai Pan Bakery is solid but not exceptional.We came only for the portugese egg tarts and they were about $1.75, I think? Nice tender pastry, and the filling isnt overcooked, nor is it too loose. Not overly sweetened either. Pastry is a little thicker than I like but a very respectable po tut overall

If no one in your group gets the Lobster Tail, youre doing it wrong. Bavarian Cream lovers unite.Im not sure why this place has only 3.5 stars. It is a hotspot for tourists and locals for dessert in Little Italy. The dessert selection is Italian-eclectic and the coffees are great. Cannolis, pastries, and gelato are timeless.The waitstaff is generally friendly. The wait time on a Saturday night can range 45 minutes to 5 so I suggest coming in after 10 pm. You can grab dessert to go as well.If you have a large party (7+) definitely call ahead of time to let them know. They can be very accommodating.
Its a little chaotic in here because it is Chinatown and no one respects the line. At least until you get to the counter where the ladies behind the counter point out who is in line and who is not at their control. No there is no credit cards accepted here, but they have some pretty amazing cakes and egg tarts.
Ordered a taro cake for $25, the cake was horrible, the taro was not real taro but instead powder mixed with purple coloring. The cake also tasted sour. The bottom of the cake was made with corn flakes which was a cheap layering addition. Called to speak to them about it and they told me to bring it in. After i brought it back to them, they did not care for the poorly made cake and insisted thats how all their cakes were made. Will never order their cakes again. The other bakery goods they sell daily were always good. But I will never order another cake from them again.
Doesnt matter whether youre familiar with Chinese pastries or baked goods. Just try something, its so cheap. The staff is kind of abrupt, but theyll get you what you want. Cash only so be prepared. Try to get fresh stuff if possible especially things like egg custard.
Worst restauant.. the restaurant size was big enough but everything else is wrong. Doors, escalators, walkways and closets were blocked and closed off.Half the chairs were fold up replacements, the table fabrics were all old and dingle.The staff were not attending customers, they were on their phones or talking to each other.The food was disgusting, none of the dim sum dishes were warm even orders from the kitchen were hot. Food were bland, looked as it taste: unfresh.
The most horrible service experiences I had at Canal street store. The employees are so rude, after waited in line for several minutes, I told them twice what I wanted, but they just made a glance and serve customers even behind me. No explain, no reply. I dont think they know how to respect each customer, which at least they should do it. I would never ever go to this place again!

2021-11-29Taipan is my go-to Chinatown bakery because of the affordability, variety, consistency, AND quality of their baked goods.Over several trips, I’ve tried their egg tart, sesame ball, and three types of buns— hot dog, red bean, and pork floss— and enjoyed all of them!If I had to choose my favorite, though, I’d go with the sesame ball because it gets the ratio of chewy mochi to sweet red bean *just right* (my photo doesn’t do it justice). But regardless of your choice, I don’t think you can go wrong here!

2022-05-13Service is slow because theyre always busy. (If you speak Catonese, youll most likely be served first.) But its the best Tai Pan in the city. Ive been getting birthday cakes here since it opened, and they never disappoint.I recommend the fresh fruits or strawberry cake. Fruits are always fresh and sponge cake is airy and very moist. Not too sweet, so its good for diabetics or those who do not have a sweet tooth. I dont recommend tiramesu; too much cream and doesnt taste like original Italian tiramesu. I also do not recommend buying birthday cakes on display because you dont know how long they been there. Make sure to place an order for fresh cake.Takes only 30 minutes to an hour for them to assemble the fresh fruit cake. It costed $38 for 1 pound. Cash only. Theres one lady---I think shes the manager---who speaks English. Bakery breads are good too although pricier than other Chinese bakeries. I usually only buy birthday cakes here. 🎂

2022-08-20Very tasty pastries but also everything is very sweet. Not quite used to this level of sugar. It was quite fascinating how fast the ladies move, as a tourist one doesn’t really have time to ask questions or look before ordering. Prices are alright for NYC, some a bit too high.

2022-07-22I was tempted in trying all egg tart flavors. Don’t make the same mistake I did.. just get the Portuguese egg tart that is the best they have the other were pretty disappointing.

2022-07-13Taipan used to be one of our go-to bakeries as a kid, when my parents would take us into Chinatown many weekends. The prices have now shot up, with buns STARTING at $2, while the quality seems to have gone down (i.e. fewer ingredients in the buns). I remember loving their corn/ham buns back in the day but now theyre very lackluster. Its mostly just a plain bun with a few small pieces of ham along with soggy corn. Iced teas/coffees have gone up as well. I didnt get a drink this time because I didnt think it would be worth the $4 price tags. The pork sung bao is pretty solid though, so it seems like some buns are just hit or miss nowadays.

2022-05-17The line was very fast and I just got a plain egg tart and a Portuguese tart. You dont have to wait until the end of the line to pay. Once a lady gets your order, you go and pay. I think its cash only so have cash. I think it was about 5 bucks for both.They had other types of tarts as well. I have never seen oblong ones until that day. I should have taken more photos but the tarts are way better than what u can get in Dallas!!The ladies working there was pretty friendly.

2021-10-08Its cheaper than most bakeries (but not as cheap as other Chinese bakeries you can find near it) but its one of the best, birthday cakes for my family have always been from here and theyre always not too sweet and spongey! Come come to Taipan! Personally we though I wouldnt buy their ice cream cakes (pictured as one covered with sparkles) but defenitley get their regular cakes the pastries are good and for a good price. Most of the staff dont speak much English so if you dont know Chinese you might have to bring a friend or point your way around things but its worth it in the end.

2022-07-05Their mini cakes are the best! always soft, fresh, and spongy and their butter buns are also so good and addictive.be careful of the milk tea tho, have had an upset stomach multiple times after, the dairy isnt always stored in the fridge
