No one expects a hotel this nice to be smack dab in the middle of the woods where it is. Its great that it is, as nordic ski weekends to the nearby trails (about 30 minutes) have become a whole lot better because of it. It was an old school that they re-furbed but its hard to tell, they did an amazing job.-the decor is nature/fish/water related, but even as a non fisherman, I can still appreciate it-the rooms are beautiful...high ceilings, spacious, great design and the showers are quite impressive-the bar/restaurant had great food! We only ate breakfast there, but the kids had this amazing waffle with a chocolate bar (the small Hershey kind) as a topper, and yes, I had to help finish it ;-)-the best is the staff though. The front desk were stoic as normal, but the ladies at the restaurant were very friendly, and helpful. Hilton likes to ask in their follow up survey if I felt appreciated as a diamond member, and usually its No, not really??, but although I dont even think the wait staff would really even know what guests had what status, I felt like they were treating us like VIPsIts not as though theres a lot of choice for hotels in this region, but this hotel would win hands down even with stiff competition. Book now
Wish we could have experienced this property outside of COVID protocol but with that considered, we felt that this property was very safe. We stopped here between Ontario, Canada and Pennsylvania and it seemed like a fair property to stay in. We werent there long enough to experience some of the amenities like the spa or bonfire, unfortunately, but am glad that to know these are available in the future. Overall it seems like they might be due for a redesign, the interior and rooms look like theyre from the early 00s. The staff really made the experience for us, they were very kind and accommodating. The food service was okay - we had to go get it at the restaurant and had to do our best to make sure that we were able to get gluten-free options for my husband, but the food was better than we expected. The property looks fancier in the photos than in real life, but Im glad we got to experience it.
There is no doubt that for a hotel and lodge off the beaten path the Tailwater leave nothing to be desired. The hotel caters to the snowmobile crowd in the winter and the sport fishing crowd in other seasons being right on the Salmon River in Altmar, NY. Have been going there for years and it is even better now than when it first open. Unlike most, the property shows very little wear and tear!Cant wait to go back!
Our New Years Eve meal made the following nights meal look a penny pinchers service. Room furnishings did not match up with the website preview. We could not get comfortable in an expensive room that provided no area to get comfortable with a book or a light meal. Hotel guests were allowed to be loud, rude, and rowdy in a variety of settings. Hotel staff was unresponsive to our needs.
I stayed here with my friends for two nights for a short trip. The rooms are very large and nice and clean. Everyone working was helpful and friendly. We went to the spa for massages and both had great experiences. Definitely recommend for a relaxing/romantic getaway. If you have a car it’s not far at all to get to Syracuse/Lake Ontario. If you don’t have a car make sure you plan ahead
We can not thank everyone at Tailwater enough for such a perfect day. We postponed our wedding in 2020 to 2021 and they were a breeze to work with and we are so thankful for their support and kindness. Our wedding reception was beautiful and we have received so many compliments on every aspect of it. They customized things we requested and it was exactly what we imagined our day would be like. The food was delicious, the venue is so spacious, the lighting was a perfect ambiance, the staff was reliable, timely, and responsive (even when I messaged them so many times with all the changing regulations over and over again), the bartenders were quick and lovely to work with, everything was wonderful! This beautiful venue is like no other in the area and will always hold a special place in our heart. Thank you Tailwater and staff for a perfect day!
We enjoyed our stay and celebrated our 52 year anniversary. The restaurant was lovely and the food and desserts were delicious. The fire pit area was delightful for sharing remembrances with friends and a goodnight drink. The room was fine but a small refrigerator would have been nice for leftovers and bottles of wine. We loved the open shower and ease of in and out.
We got married in August 2021. Michele and Ann were absolutely amazing! They answered every question and really put our minds at ease the night before and the day of the wedding. I never second guessed anything and felt so secure knowing the 2 of them were in charge. They are so friendly and so experienced. Could not have had a better day and would recommend Tailwater to anyone! The hotel, the spa, and the food are amazing as well!
Our sons wedding was hosted at The Barn. It is such a unique and beautiful facility with a warm feeling. Our family and friends were very complimentary about the choice of venue. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and responsive to our needs. Our lodging was comfortable and well appointed. Overall our three day stay was excellent.
We wanted a little mini vacation. Especially after the last year of quarantine. Plus we didnt have a lot of time. So I searched and found this amazing hotel!! Only 45 minutes from us. They have the best pool and hot tub. I wasnt sure what to expect but it exceeded my expectations so much that we are definitely going back again this year!! The trail is beautiful. We spent so much time in the pool and hot tub, we didnt have time to try all the other cool things. The staff went above and beyond. Rooms are super clean!
After I botched my first attempt,I wanted to clear the air. Our group of six recently spent the weekend and I cant say enough about our stay. From the moment I arrived I could tell we were going to have a good time. The host Kayla, was very polite and made sure I was heading in the right direction. The room was absolutely perfect. Clean and close to most everything. Even though the hallways are clearly marked, I still managed to get lost. But comically the staff would see me wandering and set me in the right direction. Outdoor fire pit is great and met lots of other super friendly guests and made for fun conversation. Already looking forward to returning. Great job staff. Thanks for making our guys fishing weekend memorable.
Just go. This was the perfect little getaway that my husband and I needed. The room was beautiful, the restaurant was amazing, and the spa was the cherry on top of the perfect anniversary getaway. The friendly staff lights a fire in the fire pit nightly and the hotel offers complimentary smores kits. They went above and beyond to make our time there special and we greatly appreciated the top service. We will be back!
Got married here. I cannot express my gratitude and praise about this place enough. Second to none staff. Anne and Michelle are incredible. Debbie was our favorite bartender/moral support. Marvelous food and drink. Beautiful venue with an even more lovely suite. There is literally nothing I can say bad about this place. My dream wedding in the books and many one night get aways to come. Love tailwater would recommend for any function, fishing trip, or even a date night. See ya soon tailwater.
Its a glorified lodge, single room is just that a bathroom and a bed with a TV. The restaurant only seats by reservation only, which I was never told so had to go into town to eat, the menu also is way overpriced, ice machine is way on the other side of the lodge, the good side rooms are clean ,plenty of towels , staff is friendly, water is hot!
The hotel looked clean, smelled clean, and felt clean. The first hotel in a few months I have been in that has actually made me feel comfortable staying in during covid. The beds were comfy, the rooms were quiet, the shower acoustics were absolutely perfect for singing in while taking a long shower, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. We will be back!
We absolutely love how close to home this is. The rooms are gorgeous and clean. Game room & pool are nice. We have family parties here every year. Unfortunately we have tried multiple times over the years to get a good dinner but in the end it’s a $300 waste, lots of boxes leave the table only to be thrown out the next day. Food for us is very disappointing. Service is good.
The Tailwater Lodge has it all in the middle of Altmar NY a very small community north of Syracuse NY.Excellent venue with scenery overlooking the Salmon River. Sleeping accommodations are the best, the restaurant has terrific food, there is a pool, weight room, etc. plus the outdoor space under the tent for the ceremony was more than pleasant. It was actually lovely by the river. And the patio space where a bonfire was held after the reception was super. My only negative comment has to do with navigating around this complex as the room corridors have dead ends and one is left scratching their heads as to where their room is. In other words the room layout is bizarre!
We heard everything in the room that was going on in the hallway. It kept waking us up, and Im a sound sleeper. Noise reverberates everywhere. Doors slam shut VERY loudly. You hear all the doors, on your floor, slam shut. Only 3 hangars in the room, and was told they didnt have any more. Prime rib was tough and tasteless. And watch your shin on the corner of the bed frames that stick out.
Such a beautiful place. There were people setting up for a wedding/ reception when we stumbled in on a road trip. We also found a tasting room where the bride and her friends were, a hotel and restaurant. The restaurant was small with limited seating and a limited menu, most likely due to covid. Our waitress was very friendly and during conversation she informed us that the building/ business used to be the old Altmar high school. That was interesting. Although the menu had limited options, it was not difficult to be torn between choices. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely stop again if in the area. I highly recommend this establishment.
Need 2 pillows per person. Need new toilet paper and spare toilet paper ,need 2 bags for wet clothes when 4 people stay in one room. Need a chair by both beds, need 4 coffees for 4 people. You get 4 cups but not enough for four people to have coffee. Need lighting over the coffee pot. Had to use my phone. Not worth 300 a night on the weekend. But over all better than most places.
We loved staying here! We went for our “minimoon” and everything about it was wonderful. From the friendly staff to the cozy and clean rooms to the top notch food to the pool, outdoor hot tub and spa, we can’t say enough how great everything was. We felt so welcomed and would absolutely come back again!
Beautiful Hotel. Went there to snowmobile for valentines weekend. Staff was very nice and helpful. My one Big big disappoint was the pool/hot tub hours. We go out riding all day wanting to enjoy the hot tub after eating dinner and they close it down at 9pm. Way to early. Most other places I have found are open until 10pm. So if you want to enjoy the hot tub after riding the trails all day you better plan on eating an early dinner and allowing enough time to get back to relax you muscles.
Mothers day brunch went very smoothly. Everything was very organized, the food was delicious, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. We did not wait very long for seating. We waited in the tasting room, which provided excellent entertainment as well as beer, wine, soda and water. Staff came to get us when they were ready to seat all of us. Thanks to all of you at Tail Water for making our Mothers day a special one!
This is a beautiful location. Food is deliciousness. Beautiful rooms. Awesome game room, spa, weight room, and pool/ hot tube. The staff of extremity friendly. I had a great conversation with a staff member by the name of Paul for about 30 minutes. He was kind, very friendly, smart as a whip and hospitable. The conversation was excellent. A huge thank you to the staff from tail waterlodge. For that amazing experience.
I wish someone would have told me about this place before I booked a room elsewhere. The place is gorgeous, very outdoor themed. I had the opportunity to experience the bar and restaurant here. Everything was fantastic, all the food we ordered was all amazing! Not a single complaint from our table of about 12 people.
This is a beautiful and secluded location to visit. The hotel itself is an old school that has been adapted wonderfully. The restaurant on location is a place that you definitely want to eat at when staying here.Be sure to take a walk down to the river for a nice stroll if you arent into fishing. If you do like to fish, you will be in your glory here. Even though it was only 34 degrees out when we visited there were still many people fishing. It looks like this location has some excellent offerings as far as banquet space. They are currently under some construction but this did not effect our stay. They are adding more guest rooms, a pool, and a fitness center. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not have flashing around their guest room doors. Every time someone down the hallway opened their door it rattled our which made it sound like someone was knocking. If you are a light sleeper just bring some ear plugs. Everything else was great.
Had my daughters wedding there . It was the best wedding ever!!! The staff was phenomenal. The place was beautiful and Ann took care of everything we needed!!!! Im from long island my daughter lives in Syracuse and picked this place. If you live near there and you are getting married check this place out.
We loved our stay at the tailwater lodge. The room was beautiful, spacious, and very modern. Large screen TV, huge bathroom which I would love to have in my own house, beautiful leather chair and ottoman and the bed was incredibly comfortable. and the restaurant was outstanding!!! The food was absolutely out of this world! I highly recommend the Caesar salad its absolutely the best one Ive ever had! the mac and cheese is fantastic the clam chowder I highly recommend if its a Friday night, and I got the ahi tacos which were fantastic my husband got this wonderful chicken breast with this amazing glaze on it its nothing like Ive ever had before. I also enjoyed the breakfast it was very good and very reasonable. I would love to come here again we had a wonderful time!
I attended a wedding ceremony and reception, held in The Barn. The wedding itself was gorgeous, held in the atrium. The staff was very quiet and unobtrusive during the ceremony. I saw some walk past the door and they couldnt be heard! The reception was perfect! Service staff at the ready with food, cocktails well poured. Room beautiful beyond words! A perfect event to celebrate a lovely couple! I would definitely recommend the venue.
We were there in December for a staff retreat. The hotel and its amenities are excellent. The staff are great. The rooms are big and comfortable. The food and bar is delicious. There is a game room with pool and darts and a tasting room with board games. Its also a great venue for a wedding!
Beautiful location and building. Visited for a wedding and the setting was picturesque. Delicious and fresh food was served at all meals. The staff was sort friendly and helpful and above all personal. Acoustics in the dining hall were a bit harsh, but that could have been the djs fault too.
My wife and I were celebrating our 31st anniversary and since we have celebrated many before this, wanted try someplace different. We are very happy that we chose the Tailwater Lodge. The short drive from Syracuse was picturesque. We were greeted by a friendly Hostess and even though we didnt have reservations, were seated immediately. Our waitress, Jenny, was friendly and attentive. The soup of the day was a delicious turkey soup with a slight kick to it. We then ordered stuffed crab cakes that were very good. We both ordered the Salmon entree that cam with a house salad that all of the salad dressing were home made. The Salmon was cooked to perfection and was served with brown rice and sting beans that were perfectly Al dente. Even though we didnt think we could eat another bite, the waitress teased us with the dessert, and gave us a few minutes to decide. One of the desserts being home made ice cream that was just made that day. So even though we were full, we indulged in the home made ice cream that was topped with Toasted Coconut and fresh strawberries, very good. When the bill came the waitress mentioned that the dessert was on them in honor of our anniversary! Nice Touch. I havent even mentioned that there is a tasting room with 24 taps, that was unfortunately not open. Two glasses of wine, one beer flight (4 samples in 6 oz. glasses), appetizer, dinner and dessert (that was free), plus tip $132.00. Both of us agreed it was a good choice for our anniversary and will go back again.
Overall a great experience. The place is very nice, we went to look at it for our wedding venue (its in the running) and there was a craft show my fiance want to check out. My only complaint was one of the bartenders was really rude. It was very busy, I waited about 15-20 minutes for them to acknowlege me and then asked a simple question and she seemed very annoyed. I will give them a pass on that one this time since it was so busy, just not a way to impress your customers.
My fiance and I love the Tailwater Lodge! We try to schedule at least one trip to Altmar each winter to stay here and fish/eat/ relax for the weekend. The building is beautiful and immaculate, the rooms are super modern and comfortable, and the restaurant is delicious. We are so excited to see all of the new additions this year such as the spa and rooms. The customer service is also top notch! Cant wait until November!
Visited the Tailwater Lodge today to check out their new spa. I want to say that it was a great experience. My friend and I ended up spending the whole afternoon their relaxing. The staff was very accommodating and courteous. Between the relaxing massage, the manicure and pedicure and the sauna, they have everything. They even have a relaxation room and a hot tub where you can sit around and relax as a group. Definitely will be visiting again.
I was told how great this place is. Beautiful inside, thats where it ended. Service was slow, 4pm not very busy. I had the shrimp and pasta, pasta wasnt cooked, sauce very bland and watery. The liquid in the bottom of my bowl tasted like water they rinsed the shrimp off in. Very disappointing, then we got the bill. We wont be making that drive again.
Tailwater is no doubt the best place to stay if you are planning a trip to Pulaski, NY. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, it is right next to the river and the food is pretty good. If youre planning a trip to the area, this is the place to stay.
This was our first stay at Tailwater and we LOVE it!!! Everything from the rooms, restaurant and the staff were AWESOME! The food is amazing and Briana and Zach went above and beyond to help us out during our stay. Cannot say enough great things... Wish we could give 10 stars! Easy access to the trails and they were perfect! Cant wait to be back again in February! This will be our annual snowmobiling destination ❄️❄️❄️
We went to a wedding there. They have a hotel connected to the lodge. We were not able to stay there that night because it was full but heard the rooms were beautiful from our friends who did stay. The lodge is gorgeous with a beautiful large outdoor patio with tables, chairs and large firepit. You can walk a short path to the Salmon River. I would describe it as classy rustic. Excellent food and service.
I was there for a wedding and the place was beautiful. Penty of space at the facility. Its like a destination wedding place here in central NY. It reminds me of a very modern Adirondack lodge. Large vaulted ceilings all exposed beams. The food was outstanding. The best wedding food I have had.
Negative star ~Poor service & how they handle this social distancing , Rude staff specially the supervisor or manager chubby female that works in morning in the bar & restaurant, treated me & my family poorly. She need to be trained or just quit here job. Policy of this lodge was poor specially with large group events are served well no face mask was required no social distancing. Smaller group of guest wasn’t allowed to seat in the restaurant and advice to take food in the room even if the guest is solo or couple, and you need to wait and pick up the food , no one will assist you. Food was ready to be pick up in 30-40 mins . And food was nasty & cold at the time they hand it . I won’t recommend this lodge.
A complete Surprise!!! A school friend and I stopped here after exploring our old haunts. What an absolutely gorgeous place. The Restaurant was fantastic as was the Staff.I think for every single person that comes up to Altmar this would be a beautiful place for weddings, reception, or to just stay during fishing season.
I was a bit wary when I heard this was a converted school but they did this place right. The bar/restaurant is beautiful inside and the food and drinks avalible for the price were pretty great! I also really liked the tasting room. 24 mostly NY beers on tap. Fool bar and wine as well. Services was great and everyone was really nice. I will be back.
Traveled to tailwater for a family wedding. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was great. Hotel and restaurant staff were helpful. Rehearsal and wedding food was delicious. Only suggestion would to have place for early hotel arrivals to store luggage until able to check into room. We drove around the village of pulaski with a carload of luggage until check in time.Hope to return so husband can go fishing. A gem in the middle of nowhere!
The service was fantastic we showed up at 750 for our 8:00 reservations. Upon arriving to our table we were engaged in conversation with the hostess, made a connection to our hometown. Being 8:00 on a Friday night we were thankful we had reservations, the dining room was packed. Our appetizer arrived quickly and was delicious (poutine.) I ordered the 20 ounce bone in rib-eye which definitely did not disappoint! I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a better steak in my life! The entree comes with soup or salad, mashed potatoes and the Chefs vegetable of the day.Truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Chef John and the staff at the Tailwater do not disappoint!MTOTD
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The pictures give the illusion of a rustic interior, when in fact, it is very modern with artistic rustic flair throughout. From the moment you arrive, the staff is very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very clean and spacious. The beds and crisp linens were very comfortable and we had a very quiet and restful weekend due to the location of the hotel which is off the main highway and backing up to woods and the river. The hotel is a must-see architecturally as well. It was once an elementary school building which was ingeniously renovated into a class hotel. The hotels restaurant service and fare was exemplary. Again, we were surprised. The blue cheese gourmet burger with delicate frizzled onions was outstanding. So was the Prime Rib, Ahi Tuna and homemade New England Clam Chowder. All were moderately priced, but well worth paying for. Even if you cant stay the night, the Tailwater Lodge Restaurant is worth the stop!
Just returned from a wedding here.We went up a day early to get an early start to do the hair. Tasting room was staffed with exceptional staff, moved on to a dinner that was 5 stars in the restaurant. The wait staff was knowledgeable , friendly (Kimberly),all were people you felt you knew. Just feels like a family..Rooms were great, and the wedding could not have been better.Gorgeous , with a class act staff.Want to return just to enjoy.
This place new and absolutely beautiful on the inside and outside.the rooms are roomy well lit and romantic. The food there isnt good at all and yes I mean at the meals even the buffet. The staff isnt pleasant at all and I waited 20 mins on hold for a simple (yes) answer. The hallways have a very mild stench to them too.
I booked this place to be close to the salmon river to fish and got way more then expected. The hotel was clean with friendly staff. The shower was one of my favorite parts with a beautiful open concept. They had an amazing diner and even a place to wash off ur waiters after a long day on the river. They also had lockers to hang them to dry. They had flies for sale in the lobby so u didnt need to run to the Tackel shop in the morning. I loved my stay overall and I will definitely be coming back in the future
We received a gift certificate for Christmas & thought dinner at tailwater would be perfect for new years eve. The special menu for the night looked great, however, we got the bone-in rib eye, cooked to perfection with garlic mashed & broccoli & the lobster Mac & cheese. We split our dishes & there was still too much...our beagle really loved the steak bone tho. This place is just what we needed in this area; prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, & accomodating, & the food was done to perfection! Definitely worth the trip!
My wife and i have been here several times for meals. We love some of the items on the menu, and there are others that are not to our liking. The crab fritters are not our favorites, but we do like the pretzels and beer cheese as well as The poutine. The lobster Mac and cheese is very good, but for the price, it better be great.Overall, I like the craft beer selection appetizer options. The atmosphere and decor is very nice, but the prices are a bit overboard. We would visit more often with more casual options for early meals and more affordable pricing.Overall, a five for atmosphere, a 4 for food quality, and a 3 for menu selection and pricing.
This is a new hotel. It is in the works and has alot of potential. Rooms were comfortable and nice. Breakfast was good. Was at a wedding reception there and there was an after party with an on-site fire pit. There are two large boccie courts. It would be nice to have lights for night games. There is no pool YET and they are adding 40 more rooms
The Taproom at the Tailwater is a neat, cozy place, if a little out of the way. They have a pretty good beer selection, even as upstate bars go. Restaurant area is very roomy, with lots of bar space. The building complex apparently used to be a school. I couldnt tell; all of the renovations are beautiful. The space has a ton of potential. Looking forward to seeing how it does. Will be back soon. 10/10.
I love this place..I have come here for fishing the salmon river the last couple of years. This trip we brought he snowmobiles. What a great place to start from. They have plenty of parking for the trailers. The main trail is across the street from the lodge, so you can suit up in your room hop on your sled and go. You have access to the Tug Hill Plateau, if that is your thing...We kept to the west side of the hill and managed about 400 miles of riding over 3 days. Best part was coming back to the lodge for dinner and a very comfortable room. Such a nice change of pace to stay in a clean comfortable place in upstate NY!
When my son, who was turning 16, asked for a weekend getaway here for his gift I was sceptical. We arived Friday afternoon and have been pleasantly pleased and beyond relaxed since we arrived. As frequent travelers we have experienced both the good, the bad and the great! This lodge is in the top three of our favorite getaways. Friendly staff, a meticulously clean environment, attention to detail throughout the whole reaort. One of my favorites is the pool-hot tub area. Mot only is the air warm, but not humid, there is no chemical smell, crystal clear water, water temp is absolutely perfect, hot tub is not only huge, well covered, very perfectly themed with stone wall and real tree bark covered pillars, and great temp for our family to enjoy. The restaurant on site is 5 star in my opinion. The food and variety of the menu is on point. Friendly crowd and atmosphere for sure. The options for staying busy are unique and fun. A game room with fuseball, jenga, board games, table bowling and more. Just an all around great resort for all ages and interests. As a family of fisherman, you cannot find a better getaway! Tour guides if needed, and lots of spots for the experienced angler as well. This a top 3 on my list of getaways in upstate NY!
Stopped here to check out while snowmobiling in Tug hill. Didnt realize it was a giant hotel. The hotel looked nice along with there lodge. Drinks are over priced and billed like Applebees (not rounded to the nearest quarter). I consider a good lodge has beautiful wood, wall decor, or fire place. Not here. Went to Altmar hotel (local dive) and was much happier
I fish near the Tailwater Lodge and have considered staying there. It looks like a Very Nice Place To Stay, although its probably a bit on the pricey side but Im not sure. I may check them out next year and write a better review but from what I hear its a nice place to stay in Altmar. I have been to their website and its impressive. They were doing some construction work there this past year when I was out for my annual fishing trip in October on the Samon River. The fishing in the area is Always Good even when some say its slow. I have always been able to catch both Salmon and Steelhead and can usually land my three Salmon limit or one Steelhead and two Salmon. I fly fish and will also catch and release. The area is quite Beautiful but it can be a bit dangerous in some locations so be careful, as there are some deep drop offs, fast currents slippery rocks, mud and algae. I would recommend Corkers and neoprene waiters because the water is very cold. Happy Fishing!
This is a neat place right on the river that was built in an old school. The inside has been meticulously redone and now has rooms to stay in, a tasting room and banquet hall, and full restaurant and bar. Stop in for a bite before or after fishing. The food is amazing and made with care!
I honestly cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the restaurant and bar. I am a repeat customer here and it’s the only place I stay when I visit Pulaski. The staff seriously go out of their way to make you feel at home. I have travelled throughout the US and Canada and this place truly sets the standard.
First time visitor and will be back. Always love when I find new “that looks cool” spots when hotel booking for work, especially a Hilton Tapestry Collection find. Stayed on a Sunday, on a sunny warm May afternoon, traveling from Niagara Falls to Watertown. Instant service, incredibly friendly and scenic, with a friendly restaurant right inside too. Tons of quiet, “salmon cleaning”, water side and back road views. Awesome rooms and building. Great getaway spot, between Syracuse and Watertown, in the woods. Worth a visit.
We went to dinner with three other couples on a Friday night. I had a 16 ounce Black Angus T-bone steak that was almost inedible. Ive never had a tougher piece of meat. The filet side was even tough and chewy. At 43 dollars you would expect a quality piece of meat. Needless to say we will not be making a return visit.
This is a great out-of-the-way place to go whether youre a snowmobiler or salmon Fisher they have taken an old school and turned it into a very nice hotel with great rooms awesome food a fun bar and pool room along with a beer wine and Distillery Tasting Room they also have meeting space definitely a place to go to!
It was awesome I went up there for the pinkribbonriders snow run the 14th annual snow run up there the rooms were very clean beautiful beds very comfortable and people there were so very very nice and helpful. I will be going up there next year for the pinkribbonriders Run. ,!
A go-to destination for lodging, events, dinners, and occasional entertainment. Its rustic but classy design appeals to anglers looking for a uniquely comfortable place to stay, as well as a place to hold large events such as weddings, reunions, conventions, etc. All nestled in one of the best world class sportfisheries in the country.

2022-05-03Our experience here from start to finish was amazing! Staff was so friendly and the room/ building was kept clean and updated. The wood work at this place is absolutely beautiful. We utilized all the amenities, especially the spa which had a sauna and jacuzzi that left me feeling so relaxed for my massage service that was the best I’ve ever had. My partner LOVED being able to fish on sight and wash his waders in the hotel wader wash area. The restaurant here is phenomenal and you need to get breakfast when you stay… it’s TO DIE FOR! I will definitely be recommending and coming back soon!

2022-04-17My family stayed from 4/15 to 4/16. It was a great stay. From Elizabeth checking us in on the phone, to Kim in the restaurant being an amazing waitress, and the restaurant manager Reid just watching her work ( she needs a break or raise) she is a very hard worker and was smiling and had a wonderful personality. She was there that morning for breakfast and when we went in for dinner at 7 she was still there working hard. It was a good weekend. Greatly enjoyed every minute of it.

2022-05-21It was awesome. The hotel was well furnished, the linens felt high end, the staff was all excellent, and the food was good. I also greatly appreciate it was built out of a repurposed building which supports sustainability. The details of decor and construction throughout the hotel were thoughtful as well. The cheerfulness and kindness of the staff really was the best part for me though; being from the south, hospitality is rare, but the PEOPLE working at the Tailwater really make it a great experience! They were very accommodating to our requests and the fact that it is dog-friendly really put it over the top for us!

2022-02-26Visited for a wedding. Atmosphere was wonderful, space was decorated beautifully, and the food was unbelievable! Both the chicken and steak were tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful, its a BIG place. Rooms were very nice. All around, definitely rates a 5 star.

2022-02-22We stayed over Valentines weekend and had a great time!Great location on Salmon River with trails we could snow shoe and walk our dog.Breakfast, lunch and dinner were perfect. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The $100.00 pet fee is a little steep for a place filled with fisherman and snowmobiles. The fee should be charged to the smokers as there are hundreds of cigarette butts littering the yard.We will definitely be back!

2022-06-05Have been to a couple weddings here and most recently Mothers Day Brunch. It is a beautiful venue. Lots of things to do. A great bar, reception area and the food is pretty good too. It is a bit pricey but overall its worth it.

2022-05-16We celebrated my birthday here. 9 of us. Gabby was our waitress. She was phenominal! We never had to look for her. Although she was very busy and had other tables, she was always there with a new drink. She took all of our orders, without writing down a thing and got everything correct. The food was delicious. We look forward to going back soon.

2022-04-14We picked tailwater for our wedding venue not only because it was a beautiful place, but because of how amazing the staff was. It seems like once we had picked it and booked our day, there was an army of tailwater employees there to get every last detail down to perfection so that myself and my wife wouldnt have to stress. They met on server occasions with us to get the details down of exactly what we had envisioned, helped plan our rehearsal dinner, helped get guests checked in and comfy to their rooms so that they were ready for the night that was coming. The food was incredible! We went with the build your own barn party and everything was amazing. I found that on the day of, I wasnt worried about they planning and coordination, but rather about what I was about to do. I had faith that everything was being handled perfectly and I was glad to have had their professionalism and guidance! My only complaint was that the hot tub closed at 9 which was went the reception ended, I understand why it had to close but it wouldve been nice to have that option to hangout with guests afterwards! Thanks again for all of the help and professionalism, especially with difficult mothers ;-)

2022-07-04Chose this lodge to stay with my son on a exploring adventure vacation of the nearby state parks, and it was phenomenal! Entire place is beautiful, well kept, and great staff. I felt so welcomed and attended too, probably the best service Ive ever had at a hotel/lodge. Big indoor pool, outdoor hot tub (which I do wish was open until 10 but hey, cant have everything lol). The location on the river was excellent as well, made for nice little morning walks. The hotel provides smores kits for their campfire in the evening (bring bug spray, mosquitos are wicked) that my kid was obsessed with. Good food and drinks in the restaurant, though the chef special was not really flavorful admittedly. The breakfasts, the burgers, the garlic lodge fries and my fav the pepper jelly were soooo good. Just overall excellent stay, will definitely be returning. Shout out to Gabbi in the restaurant the first night for going above and beyond and being exceptional!
