I dont know where to begin... my experience at Talias was incredible! From the second we walked in the door, the customer service was impeccable. There was live music, and the ambiance was just...perfect!For drinks: the mojito- could not recommend this enough, the mint was so fresh! the yellow ginger- another favorite! perfect for ginger beer lovers like myself. lol. they even had Goldstar for my man!The food: the chicken wings were amazing. great sauce that came on the side. the crispy cauliflower is also a must have!I ordered the middle eastern salad platter and was not disappointed! Best pita Ive had in America HANDS DOWN... and dont even get me started on the babaganoush. For my main I had the steak and WOW. just WOW.I will be back dining at Talias soon, a five star experience all around!
We ordered dinner from Talias since we wanted to treat ourselves during this time and support local kosher restaurants. Not only the food was amazing and delicious, the treatment was even better and we got way more than we asked! Highly highly recommended!! Treat yourself with great food and help them, its a win win!
Amazing food. Each plate was like ART both for the visual and for the palate. The atmosphere was authenticly New York with a touch of home crossed with the feel of the classic Casablanca movie. Romantic, nostalgic, a classic to be experinced by those who appreciate quality and good company.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner. We had to place a deposit for our reservation. It was advertised as a family event but once we got there with our child, we were stuck in the corner by the broken restroom and wait staff hangout location. We smelled the restroom half the night and listened to the wait staff yell at each other the other half. The table, menu, and dinnerware was not kid friendly so we had to battle that all night. We placed our order and a long, long time later were brought the wrong soup. An even longer time later our food came. By this time our child was melting down. It took hours for us to finally eat and the little one just couldnt last that long. When the bill came they didnt even deduct our deposit! Good thing my wife remembered to check!Food was excellent, service was awful. It ruined our evening and an otherwise perfect day.
We were a group of five and all of us had a great dinning experience. I had the branzino which was fresh and cooked to perfection. My friends had lamb shank, prime ribs and chicken Marsala. Everyone enjoyed his main dish. Our server was friendly and polite. The ambiance is cozy with a candle and fresh rose on each table. Do no missed the fantastic, parve chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. We will be back!
Wow! This food was absolutely amazing! The drinks were on point! And the service was the best service, Ive ever gotten in any restaurant my entire life! You were great! Thank you for such a spectacular night on my anniversary! I will visit again, please dont change your staff, you guys rocked!💖💖🤩🤩🙌👌🏻
We celebrated my husbands 40 birthday at Talias. It was the most special event. The staff took care of our every needs (especially the Chilean manager, Jeff, Effie the manager and Katie the event organizer). I was a little worried about the event but they done a magnificent job and did not let me worry for one ounce of the event. The food is superb and all my guests compliment the taste, presentation, portion size and the bar was great too. The music was a lovely touch and they just made sure everything looked perfect and ran smoothly!! I can not thank the team enough and recommend this place to anyone for a special event!! Set menu was great and so many option and very reasonable for such a big event! I loved the salad starter too, outstanding!
Love this place! The food always tastes amazing. First time, I had Ribeye Steak (medium rare) with Salad and Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Ice Cream. Second time, I ordered Lamb Shank and Tiramisu. You can tell that everything is fresh. Also, roses on the tables complementing cozy and romantic atmosphere. The staff, managers, and owner are attentive to their customers and will always make sure that you leave satisfied. Special thanks to Anat and her signature mojito with coconut and pineapple.
I was in the mood for a steak tonight and happened upon this place...I wish I hadnt. I ordered the ribeye with a green salad and broccoli expecting a fabulous meal. Instead I got a mediocre 10 oz ribeye of which at least a third was fat and not the type of fat that is marbled into the meat....just fat that one would expect a higher end steakhouse to trim off before serving. When I brought it to my waitress attention, she reported back that the manager said I should have ordered it with less fat...smh. He wont have to worry about me coming back to order any of the subpar and flavorless food. The price point should be a lot lower for what this restaurant is offering. No wonder why so many tables were empty...my waitress was very attentive and friendly though.
Wonderful for special occasion (Big/Small) - We celebrated my husbands 40 birthday at Talias yesterday evening (1/19). Thank you all LOVE this place!
I had an amazing experience coming to Talias numerous times. The menu is just amazing with the food being on point. The waiters and servers are extremely accommodating and understanding. Didnt have to wait too long for the food and constantly someone coming over to see if we needed more water, etc... Couldnt have been happier coming to Talias, most definitely will be back... Hopefully really soon...
I had very high hopes for this place but it disappointed me.the steak was not actually a prime rib as the menu suggested. Perhaps it was ribeye that was then grilled. It was unfortunately tough. The french fries alongside were good and the appetizer plate was outstanding. The wine was okay but there was only one choice. I was intrigued that it was a kosher restaurant. And I was hopeful that I would really enjoy it and be able to come back many times. But it didnt turn out to be good for me. The host was very gracious and hospitableIm just sorry the food didnt work out to be better for me.
Avoid! Consistently poor quality food along with terrible attitude. Nothing tastes fresh or appetizing. In fact, our last order actually tasted off--beware. The restaurant does not appear clean. Please avoid if you are looking for real quality food that is fresh and tasty--much better choices all over NYC, including kosher.
I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had an amazing time! We went on a Sunday night so it wasn’t crowded and we had a nice seat by the window. They let us put a couple tables together to hold all of the food. I used a Groupon and it entitled us to a lot of food and if we upgraded the steak (we did) we only had to pay $20 extra dollars. Lots of food. Definitely enough for two people. A whole bottle of wine and a whole lot of enjoyment.
I had a great experience at Talias tonight! We didnt get there until after 11 on a weeknight, but the staff went above and beyond! Immediately, the ambiance was great- dimmed lighting, burning candles on every table, soft music. One we were seated, our waiter, Jake, provided excellent information about all of the different menu options we asked about, as well as dead-on recommendations. The manager, Crista, checked in with us to ensure a high-quality experience, and she certainly delivered it! We ordered a number of different items, and all of the food was extremely flavorful and tasty! Generous portions, piping hot, and excellent wine to go with it. Thanks to Jake, Crista, and the kitchen, I love Talias Steakhouse!
Went for holiday dinner. The wait staff was very pleasant but slow, dishes would come one at a time, slowly. This is concerning given they had a price fixed menu, so the kitchen should have been pumping out everything together. The food was solid to average. We had a large group and they made us sit at two different tables, which made it a lesser experience. They seemed more concerned with keeping the place in order for the next dinner service than with keeping our group together, which is a shame.
Thanks so much to Talia’s Steakhouse owner Effie, Waiter Jake, the bartender, and especially the Chef of Talia’s—my father and I had the most wonderful dinner last night here. We had Wings with bbq sauce , Bloody Marys, Matza ball soup , Yemenite chicken entree, and chocolate mousse! It was the most delicious and enjoyable meal we had both ever had, both before and after Corona bans. But most significantly, as our first restaurant outing after a long and hard season, Talia’s Steakhouse was a delight. We wish them many years of continued success in serving gourmet kosher fare, joy and celebration.
100% satisfied customer! We were a group of 6 guests. We ordered steak, veal chop, chicken kabob and halibut.Everyone in the table enjoyed his main dish. Service was very attentive and friendly. We also loved the parve chocolate soffule with vanilla ice cream. Highly recommended
Awful experience. My husband and I had reservations on a Wednesday and rolled in early for our anniversary dinner. The hostess, who was also our server, was incredibly rude. There seemed to be some tension between the staff members (and it was palpable!!!) and not one other person in the restaurant was friendly to us. Our server was very evidently put out when we asked her for anything and did a poor job explaining the Groupon menu, but didnt hesitate to remind us at the end of our meal that the recommended amount to tip was located on our receipt.Poor service can usually be mitigated by outstanding food, but that was not the case for this place either. The 4 course pre fixe menu was a shared single-serving salad, a shared single-serving appetizer and two very very underwhelming entrees. We were so disappointed and uncomfortable with the environment that we skipped dessert entirely (if it was even offered, we dont really know). ABSOLUTELY not worth the $91 Groupon cost.Im mostly disappointed because Talias otherwise has pretty decent reviews, but unfortunately there are way too many decent places to eat both on Groupon and in NYC in general that are more deserving of my time and money.
I had a great time in Talias Steakhouse and Bar with my family! What I loved the most is that they have inclusive choices in their menu with reasonable prices. Their staff were very friendly and accommodating too! Definitely a place to go to for late night meals! Thank you Talias Steakhouse and Bar!
Service was terrible. We were seated and the table was not set we had to ask for utensils and napkins. The food to an hour to come out of the kitchen and one of the dishes was a simple salad. The chicken cutlets were over cooked and had no flavor. This place is so over priced for what it is. I would have rated it a zero but that is not an option. The wait staff was very nice and apologized and gave the salad for free and offered free desserts.
Just ate here and felt completely at home the minute I stepped in the door. I was warmly greeted and seated, and accommodated by a very friendly waitress. Food was definitely something to write home about - had a warm pastrami sandwich that just hit the spot. Drank wine from the bar as a lovely compliment to my meal. Music and lighting gave a serene and peaceful background. I would recommend to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming atmosphere to check this place out!
Went here with a Groupon on a busy Wednesday night. The deal was great. Got a great meal for the money. However the service and ambiance was pretty bad. I understand a place being busy but we were waiting way too long for almost everything. Had to ask a few different waitresses for water, ketchup, our check, etc. The background music was a man playing keyboard. I thought it was a 7 year old playing it was that bad. I will probably never come back here but I can imagine it would be a decent place to go to on a less busy night. Oh also the entire front of the restaurant was open on a hot day. Was sweating the entire time I was there. Good appetizers though
An all-around unpleasant experience. It took an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive-- the waitress offered us a second round of drinks on the house, which none of us were able to accept, and the offer ended there. (Comp our first drinks? Dessert? Anything other than more alcohol?) When it finally arrived, it was incorrect (but we obviously werent going to wait for a remake) and the filet mignon was terrible. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that the brisket was good, but that wasnt enough to save it. Well never be back-- plenty of other good kosher options in the city.
Had dinner at Talias earlier, from the warm welcome the moment I went in to the full-filling dessert I had... I have to say they did a very good job. I took my parents for a steak Monday and got surprised with their food, we had more than enough food for the table and all tasted so good. The owner and our waitress(sorry I didnt ask for ur name) were above beyond to give us good suggestions and GREAT service.(especially I brought a groupon, yall know its tricky sometimes) but we felt so welcomed and had a good time. Highly recommend couples/families visit Talias, u will be treated very well.
This is a Groupon staple and is definitely a bargain. The appetizers and service rank closer to 5 stars but the burgers were dry and lacking. Weve had the steaks before and they were better than the burgers - and maybe Im just s homebody- but nothing compared to my own bbq. Also, the room was cold - the door was left open because of kitchen smoking conditions- but it was chilly indoors.Wish I could rate it higher than 5 but that is what it is.
Its good but expected much better for the price. Its verrry expensive but the mashed potatoes seemed to be rehydrated from powder and the steak was tough and dry. My own steak on the grill is much better as is a local place that sells them for $18 but puts them on throw away plates. A nice plate but bad steak is not worth paying triple for.
This has to be my favorite restaurant in NYC! Talias has all the components that make up a good restaurant. The service is impeccable- my waitress was really friendly, they serve you delicious pita bread, and very attentive. My favorites: middle eastern salad platter (appetizer, so many goodies for a great price!), the dish you absolutely MUST have: the prime rib!!! All the food tastes authentic and homemade and they treat you like family when you are there. 5 stars! (I’d give it 6 if I could).Oh, and I don’t keep kosher and I still love it!
This is a great restuarant with a nice ambience of background music. The steaks were well cooked and the appetizers were delicious. The owner, Effie is a very pleasant person who likes to give 100% satisfaction to his guests. The service here is ALWAYS great. Without a doubt, the best cut of prime steak. We loved the rib eye!!!!Highly recommended!!!
Had a beautiful time here. Every single dish is generous and delicious. The Yemenite soup is very tasty and just the right amount of spicy. The BBQ spare ribs are great to share, very big portion. The Butchers cut has the perfect crisp crust and soft inside. Their fries and onion rings are both great and deserve to be more than just a side. The service is really great, staff all eager to please and do their best to make sure your visit is exceptional. Keep up the great work!!!
I did not like the waitress who served us. She wasnt that great. However, they had music playing at night when we were eating. The food was delicious and the aura was nice. It is kind of expensive for the price of burger but its worth the try if you like steak. I would say my experience there was average.
I have been a customer of Talias Steakhouse for over 15 years. The owner and his sons will go out of their way to make sure you will have a great dinning experience. The food is always fresh and tasty. I miss the live music and the social gathering especially on late Saturday night.During the past weeks and months, restaurants owners are working tirelessly to care for both their customers and employees during the COVID-19 crisis. All retail stores and especially fine dining restaurants and bars are hardly survived and by writing a, fake or genuine, bad reviews, the owners would be absolutely placed under additional burdenson them during these unprecedentedly trying times. In conclusion, when TALIAS will reopen, i am going to be the first customers. Highly recommended.
Really love this place, we use the Groupon so its a fantastic deal. My only complaint is their insistence on leaving the TVs on in the dining area, not just the bar. They are super bright and very distracting. When I asked if they could be turned off I was told that the owner requires them to be on. She did offer to change the channel. It was originally on a murder show.
My colleagues and I went to Talias as part of a team off-site event. We were a big group and Talias was so helpful in setting us up with a prix fixe menu, accommodating vegetarians and allergies, and serving our big group. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. My whole team had a great experience!
A friend of mine recommended Talia’s Steakhouse as a romantic Spot for a date. We were welcomed by the hostess and seated in a reasonable amount of time. We got a very nice corner, as requested by us, with a candle and a rose on the table. Our server was helpful and attentive even though the place was quite busy. We ordered the Prime Rib for 2 and what a presentation! The meat was thinly cut and sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. Highly Recommend.
I feel like this place has excellent atmosphere, something which it seems most kosher places completely lack. I have enjoyed most dishes, but it seems to be a bit hit or miss whether I get it quickly. Steaks are cooked perfectly and dishes are very presentable. Good for a nice date or lunch.
Talias is a wonderful place to have quiet dinner. In warm weather you can eat outside, and they have well decorated interior for colder weather. Their middle eastern appetizers are delicious, and their steaks are made to perfection. They also have a nice wine selection and and excellent service. Most evenings you can find free parking on the streets which makes this an easy restaurant to visit year round.
I came to Talias with a group. The four of us were so hungry and didnt have a reservation, but the host was so accommodating and seated us within 5 minutes. The pita beard and spreads were so good, we asked for seconds. We ordered middle eastern salad and chip and dip trio for starters. Great choices. The chip and dip trio is large and tasty. Our entrees were prime rib, BBQ spare ribs, filet mignon and chicken Marsala. So pleased with the food here and left satisfied beyond expectation. Great food, definitely recommend to everyone. Thanks for a good experience.
My sister made a reservation to come here one of Aprils Saturday nights. She had bought a Groupon for 4 people and invited me and my partner to join her for dinner. It was an spectacular experience. Everything was perfect.Elena/Helena was our waitress, she was incredible and made sure everything was exceptional for us.We received an appetizer on the house, which was Homemade Hummus, Tahini, Babaganoush, eggplant salad, red cabbage slaw and beets, my sister and her boyfriend tried and loved every single thing. They also served some pita bread with pesto and pesto cream cheese or pesto butter on the house, not sure which one but was good anyway. We started the night with a bottle of red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon to be exact, which was more than excellent. The Groupon offered two bottles, we received the second with our steaks. We ordered appetizers and salads afterward, which were also included on the Groupon. We had Bbq Crispy Chicken Wings and Moroccan Cigars accompanied with Talias Salad and Roasted Beet Salad, everything was appetizing and tasteful, definitely inviting us to anxiously wait for what was left. After the appetizers, Helena served our entree choices. The four of us ordered Ribeye Steaks, of course they were incredibly juicy, exquisite, mouthwatering. We were definitely in Heaven. Each Entree came with two sides, as per our Groupon. I ordered the incredible Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potato Fries and they were both simply perfect. The mash potatoes were made with some garlic taste, it was very flavorful. We went down a bottle and like 1/4 of the second and then ordered dessert, which was also included in the Groupon. We had two desserts, ordered a Tiramisu and Chocolate Cake. Helena informed us the Tiramisu was kosher, in case we wanted to change our option, we acknowledged but decided to keep the order. We made the right decision, the Tiramisu was lovely. We all loved it.After all the food, our waitress Helena brought the bill, which included just the taxes as the Groupon does not cover for them. We stood at the restaurant for about another hour and finished the Wine Bottle. It was a lovely experience as much as it was a lovely evening. In our opinion (unanimous), the price of the Groupon does not even cover 1/4 of the amount of the scrumptious food we were able to consume and enjoy on our visit, plus also getting two bottles of wine, along with an outstanding, splendid service from our waitress and all the staff at the restaurant.Definitely looking forward to come here again and devour another one of those savory, delightful, succulent Ribeye steaks. And definitely would be lucky and would love to have Helena hosting our evening again.
Waitress was nice and friendly, but I did not receive what i ordered originally. It took 20 minutes to put this right. When my main came they forgot the salad. The vegetables were raw and the kebobs were well done when I requested medium rare. Very disappointing experience.
One of the best kosher steakhouses in Upper West side. I eat here often, my favorite dishes are prime rib ( juicy and made to perfection) with sweet potato fries and chicken Caesar wrap with sautéed veggies. The staff is so friendly and accommodating that I got to know them as my friends. They have amazing ambience with live music on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The bartenders make the best drinks and smoothies are refreshing on a hot summer day. Also have outside sitting which is a perfect. Open until 4am on Saturdays. Perfect spot for dates, get together or just for drinks at the bar. I would definitely recommend for food, staff and amazing atmosphere.
We enjoyed the service and ambiance at Talias. The food was delicious and plentiful. We even had enough leftovers to take had home for two other children to have dinner! The service was swift and polite. Since we had a Groupon (as a gift) we needed to pay tax and the tip. We were somewhat taken aback at the size of the tip recommended considering we had a Groupon. The tip was based on the original value of the meal not on the Groupon rate. We also did not drink wine and were entitled to two, so those charges should not have been considered in the total. Despite the unexpectedd expense, the meal was quite enjoyable!
I came in from out of town and didnt really know what was around but Im sure glad I stepped into Talias Steakhouse. The decor and aura was delightful with great music playing in the background. My friends and I each ordered different burgers and not only were they quite big portions but they were incredibly flavorful, well spiced, and perfectly cooked. They even came with what were probably the best onion rings Ive ever had; Im pretty sure they make them from scratch. Next time Im in NYC I will most definitely be stopping by Talias Steakhouse again!!!
I am a restaurant reviewer who had a reservation to be a guest of the restaurant and review it. Upon arriving I told the hostess who I was and that I was there to review the restaurant. We were seated. After over 15 minutes of waiting patiently for someone to take our drink order, we walked out. I did call the owner to ask what happened, and received an apology call at 11:30pm at night. Unfortunately I do have to say that the service was terrible. The pita we tasted was stale and the water is tap.We do not know why we were not served. There were a couple of customers that came in after us and were getting service before us. I hope the reason for that was an over sight, and not that we were not being served for any other reasons.Although we did not taste the food, we did find Famiglia Pizzeria up the block, who had awesome pizza.
My friend and I had a great dining experience at Talias Steakhouse. We did wait about 15 minutes after our reservation time, but being as how my friend was late it really didnt matter much. The restaurant was really crowded, but our server was attentive and pleasant. We both ordered the cast iron filet and they were perfectly cooked and could have been cut with just a fork. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. The interior is somewhat typical for a steakhouse. Wood interiors and dark romantic atmosphere. I look forward I coming back.
My mom had got my boyfriend and I a Groupon for a 4 course meal for his birthday gift for what was supposed to be a nice night out. Our dinner started with our waitress saying that they couldnt take it. Had to call my mom and get her all stressed out and embarrassed. After waiting around 15 minutes turns out they could and she was just incompetent. She also could not articulate the Groupon deal menu we got at all and kept contradicting herself and then looking at us like we were crazy for being completely confused by her.Came in 8:45 and didnt get appetizers until 10:30 at the same time our food came out.Ordered my filet medium rare; it was purple to the point of being raw. Sent it back to cook a little more and it came back completely dried out and burnt to a crisp. My waitress, a vegetarian who couldnt tell me which steak Id like most upon asking her recommendation when ordering, was trying to tell me that I didnt like their medium rare so she had them make it medium well which makes no sense. I wanted a red center. Never said I wanted medium well. My waitress was extremely argumentative and sarcastic. The owner did right by giving us a free meal next time but I dont think wed even want to go back for free. Others at tables nearby were also having issues. Absolutely horrible service. Food takes forever. Dont waste your money.
Having an unbelievable anniversary dinner at Talias Steakhouse & Bar. Amazing live music, great food and a fun time with my love! Sorry we weren’t able to take pictures of everything. Came in hungry and had to start eating... halibut fish with mash potatoes. For main dish we had the barbecued spare ribs, the lamb shank with veggies, crispy French fries Mediterranean salads. We end the evening with an amazing chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. Highly recommended
Excellent food. Beautiful cocktails. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service.I had the lasagna genovese. It was like a lasagna with pesto. I loved it. I do wish the portion were a bit bigger. (Perhaps Im a glutton)My fiends had the gnocchi and orecchiette with broccoli rabe. They raved about the taste and quality but mentioned that the portion could have been a bit bigger. (Perhaps theyre gluttons too)I cant wait to try the breakfast and lunch items!
Fabulous juicy steaks, real hand cut steakhouse French fries that are truly delish, amazing mezze with garlicky babaganoush that you cant stop scooping with excellent warm pita, perfect Israeli salad and its all glatt kosher. Oh yes and the staff is warm and friendly, owners and management make you truly feel totally at home. Go! Eat! Enjoy!
Simply terrible. I had no idea it was possible to mess up chicken schnitzel but they found a way. The steaks arent fit for a dog. The only reason people think this is good is because they have a captive audience whove never had a decent (non kosher) steak. The typical kosher scam.
Saturday nights here are the best. Perfect place to come for great food with a large group of friends after a night clubbing or just to grab a late dinner. Talias live music and young crowd give the place a fresh and vibrant atmosphere. One of the few New York City kosher restaurant that is open until 4am. You just can’t beat that!
Its a bit dark, a bit noisy and a bit crowded. But in this case those are all good things. The place had a warm buzz, the staff was very welcoming and extremely attentive without over-doing it. Overall we had a very nice time. My wife and I took our daughters and a friend out for a family celebration. I started off with the combo platter appetizer - a plate consisting of an assortment finger foods including kibeh, chicken fingers, hot dog and Morracan cigars. After a few minutes we were given another serving as the kitchen wanted to apologize for the wait as our entrees were being prepared (funny, we didnt think things were moving slow at all). My daughters both ordered the rib-eye steak and said it was excellent. Our guest had the burger who said she enjoyed it and my wife and I had the ribs. We both agreed that they were not our preferred style but none the less they were quite good and the portion was very generous. At the end the staff brought out my daughters dessert and sang Happy Birthday. The only warning or negative thing would be that getting parking on the UWS on a Sunday evening is a real challenge. In the end we wound up parking a lot.
The food is of average quality and there are good choices for any taste so even if you are vegan you can find something on the menu. Interior is rather dull but I suppose being a Kosher restaurant probably requires it to be so. I thought the prices were on the high side for the portion size but, again, its New York so things are not cheap anywhere. The most irksome part of the experience was the live music, which in my opinion (and this of everyone on our table), the establishment can well do without.Overall, a fair choice if youre after a kosher dinner.
Terribly mismanaged and frightfully executed Passover, 2019 meal. Our appetizer was tasteless and unidentifiable. The soup course was delivered cold and the matzahballs were inedible. After waiting for 21/2 hours to be served a main course, none was to be had and we left in disgust. Your waitstaff carried food through the street, in the rain, to “the annex”, a room totally lacking in decor.A miserable and completely inexcusable experience. NEVER AGAIN !
Stumbled upon Talias while walking in the city with my girlfriend. After looking at the menu we decided to try it out. It was crowded but we were seated right away in a spacious corner both. Our waitress immediately came over to us when she noticed we were ready to order. She was very polite, and knowledgeable about the menu. Heres what we ordered:Bottle of wine: Binyamin Hareserve Shiraz. It was reasonably priced and fresh.Appetizers: my girlfriend and I decided to go with a Yemenite soup each. It was tasty and spicy. The chef knew what he was doing on this one.Main course: my girlfriend ordered a butchers cut steak. I didnt try it but she told me she really enjoyed it. She finished her steak which she neve usually does. For a side dish she ordered fries. She isnt a big French fry person but she had a few, enjoyed them- I ate the rest of her fries, damn good fries. I ordered a prime rib steak. It was cooked to perfection, and extremely juicy with great seasoning and flavor. On the side I ordered mash potatoes. They tasted like they had butter in them, even though I know they dont. Top notch mash, and I love my mash.Dessert: our waitress told us to order the sufley, which we did, and thank god we ordered that. It was fantastic. Its a hot, gooey, chocolate dish with vanilla ice cream on the side. This is a must order.Final thoughts: I dont usually go to kosher restaurants, but Im glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem. Went in wanting to kill some time, ended up finding a place with reasonably priced and delicious food, great and knowledgable service, and intimate ambiance- the cherry on top was the live music, which I forgot to mention earlier.
My family and I spent the Sukkot holiday at Talias Steakhouse. We were a table of 12 guests. We ordered steak, burgers, veal scallopini, meat balls and more. All dishes - from heaven. Almost everyone said wow. Service was on the slow side but very friendly and professional. Ambiance was very special because we ate in the Sukkah. Highly recommended.
Way too expensive for the quality of the food. $32 for beef spare ribs in what tastes like Heinz BBQ sauce. The music is way too loud and when we asked to turn it down we were told thats how the manager likes it. Go somewhere else for kosher steak with better prices and better quality
I am only giving Talias one star because zero is not an option. The cut which was supposedly a rib eye was more like mystery meat. Fatty, thin, chewy. The staff was pleasant but not exactly attentive. We live in the neighborhood and had the same experience about two years ago. We saw the Groupon deal and decided to give the restaurant another try - big mistake.
Was there last night for special bat mitzvah celebration .as soon as we were seated they came over to explain the menu...The food was fresh and delicious..The waitress and waiters made my kids feel like a million dollarsOh and live music gave it thst extra touch too..beautiful soulful voiceThank you so much talias..This was a night we going to remember!
I cant believe its taken me so long to write this review! I love Sweet and Sara. Amazing treats, terrific small, family business, personalized customer service. My favorites are regular vanilla marshmallows, plain smores, peanut butter smores, and maybe the white chocolate pistachio mallow. I havent visited the store yet myself, but hope to one day.
I don’t know about this place at all but it is a shame that the owner has a very poor service for the customer and it seems they dont care whoever is buying or has the coupon, be careful before buying this groupon, I bought a dinner for 2 for a special occasion and for the first time I called tried to call to make a reservation (Friday) and the place was closed then i followed the instruction to request a reservation online, I called again the next day to see if my reservation was confirmed and the owner said in a little rude way that he has to go over to his emails and he will reply via email to confirm the reservation and that never happened, I had to go on the last minute and make a reservation to another restaurant, after two weeks I decided to try a second time for another reservation, I called on Friday and the place was closed again and again I followed the instruction to go @ restaurant website for a reservation and it says clearly that I have to wait until my reservation will be approved either via email or phone call, and until today I havent received any apologies or courtesy for not responding to my reservation request, and this is a shame and embarrassing because I planned everything to be perfect dinner for the special occasion and nothing happened as it was planned, I decided to request a refund, there are so many good restaurants in the city to go to this kinda place and have no one on the phone and take reservation or answer emails
Although I dont keep kosher, I was asked by my family to look for a glatt kosher restaurant in Manhattan, since it was my grandfathers anniversary and he would not eat in a non-kosher restaurant. After researching, I decided we visit Talias Steakhouse for his party. All of us had a great dining experience. The food was outstanding, the waitress was really nice and attentive, and the live musicians were rockin, but not so loud that you couldnt hold a conversation, which I really appreciated. Thank God my choice of Talias was not a disappointment. The family is even thinking about revisiting Talias for its upcoming Passover Seder.
If there was a -10 they would get it, server did not know the menu, lamb shank was charred beyond edible, asked waiter for no replacement they brought me out a steak with no sides and charged me $38, then offered free deserts, fresh fruit still had peal on it and they had Unripe cantaloupe and pineapple. I would never go here or recommend this place to anyone or there dog, I paid the bill and walked out.
The food is phenomenal and the portions are some of the heartiest in the city. They show all the games have an atmospheric outdoor patio and GREAT HAPPPY HOUR PRICES!!! Perfect for family get togethers and a night out with good friends. Talias Steakhouse is a must for true foodies!
The food is delish there.. I had some grilled chicken along with roasted potatoes and garlic spinach.. I also got a chance to meet the owner Effie who is a great guy .. I also had a chance to meet the Chef .... Chef Joeseph who also great as well. Thank you for the delish food. Wait, you also have to try the chicken soup... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really awesome time with my friends at Talia’s. Favorite part? Livemusic…! The band playing was rocking, we were sitting at a long tableright next to the show and at one point felt like tables were shakingfrom the volume of some favorite songs. Food couldn’t have beenbetter. Love the burgers there and especially the Moroccan influenceditems like cigars, kibbeh, and middle eastern salads for some variety. The mixed drinks special also gave a lot of choice for awesomecocktails, which my friends and I loved. I always leave really happyand satisfied!
Last Saturday my wife and I ate at Talias Steakhouse, a kosher steakhouse on the Upper West Side.Entering the restaurant, it seemed elegant with roses and candlelit. The food was delicious.I ate a ribeye steak, medium, and it was juicy and tender and excellent. My wife ate duck breast, medium rare, with spinach risotto.Duck was tender and very tasty and risotto melted in her mouth, she said. The desserts were as scrumptious as we have ever tasted, a chocolate domeand a banana bash, both delicious enough to crave again.Service was prompt, server knowledgable and smiling, making us feel at home and comfortable.
I would highly recommend Talias to anyone looking for a kosher steak house in NYC. Not only is their food great, but they have live music a few nights a week and even serve Prepaid Shabbat dinner. Last time I went, my burger was a bit overcooked, but other than that I have never had a reason to complain. Its one of the main reasons I love living on the Upper West Side so much.
Had reservation at 730, not seated by 820, manager kept saying give usa few mins. Looked like people that were seated for a long time didnt get their food yet. We just left, wont go back to a poorly managed place that offers reservations any time u want but cant live up to them.
I wasnt expecting a fast food restaurant... Ordered a starter salad with a steak for main, 1/4 of the way through the starter and the main appeared. When I was down to my last few mouthfuls of steak the waitress was hoovering, and literally as soon as my knife and fork hit the plate she moved in and cleared the table... And this was a quite night only 5 or 6 other couples eating.30 mins for starter and main is way too fast. The taste of the food was average, nothing special, nothing horrible, just OVER PRICED.
Great kosher restaurant with a huge veriety of all sorts of foods. You start with freshly prepared apprtizers (salads, cigars, hummuschicken wings etc) followed by entreè - premium meats (beef, lamb, chicken) in large portions (steaks, ribs, burgers), as well as fish. The desserts ... (chocolate dome, tiramisu) are of first quality! The staff is super friendly and does all to serve you with a smile.3 times a week there is a live performance, which adds to the most pleasent atmosphere. As said, you will enjoy there very much.It is advised to reserve a table.
Talias Steakhouse is one of great attractions on the West Side. Though the staff are always efficient and thoughtful and the high caliber servings delicious and generous, still, Talias kind owner, Effie Nagar is constantly moving from table to table making sure everyone is happy and content. One extra perk for which our family and.friends are personally grateful is that they also serve Kosher meat that caters to all walks of Jewish life, including, even Chabad Lubavitch standard of Shor HaBar.
My friend and I went to Talias on 11/18/18 and like everyone says, the food is great and the place is great however, its Thursday 11/23//18 now and my friend and I have been sick that same night with the same symptoms and by 22nd and 23rd I cannot count how many times I went to the bathroom with the runs. I called my friend and he said the same so fans, take note
Ooo G-d where to start! Great food, nice ambitious (music not too loud), decent prices, good Kashrus (their beef is shor habor/Lubavitch-Chabad Shchita) but what sounds out the most is the incredible staff. They honestly make you feel like you are the only one there. Everyone is super friendly and your orders dont take too long or get lost in the mail (Thank you Jacquelyn ). Highly recommended I would give it six starts if I could.
I live in Israel and came to visit friends of my family who live in Manhattan. They took me for dinner at Talias Steakhouse. Great food, polite and professional service and very cool ambiance - large outdoor seating & amazing live jazz music. I even saw one VIP - Ron Dermer, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States. I do not 100% observe the kosher laws and I never been in any kosher restaurants in New York City, but, I certainly can tell you that Talia’s is a very fun and cool place and I will absolutely recommend it to all my Israeli friends who may visit New York.
Used a Groupon for this visit. There was a lot of food, but we were not thrilled with the quality, and would not have been happy if we had visited without a Groupon and received the same food. It was not a special menu so one has to assume our experience was standard for the restaurant, as a result, we will not be back.
Absolutely terrible experience. Waited 40 minutes for the main course only for the owner to obnoxiously tell me and my party that the food had spoiled. Waited another 40 minutes for our second order, at which point we had to leave and had the food packed up for us. I will never go back there again and recommend that no one else does either.
Very good for kosher but overpriced. I dont understand why a nice place cant be more elegant and quiet. When I pay close to $45 a meal I dont want to hear noise for waiters shuffling plates and misbehaved children.Big parties getting carried away and not caring that they are in a restaurant.
The ambiance was nice, I went on Tuesday night so there was live music which we really enjoyed, we also arrived at about 9:30 so it was not that busy, our waitress Katie was really amazing even though we drove her a little crazy, changing our order a few times, she really made our evening out something very special, she made suggestions and they were great choices especially the breaded cauliflower, that is a must have, the one time that we did not listen to her suggestion we took the spinach over the broccoli, and that was a bad choice because the spinach was very watery and pretty tasteless, not something that should be served in a restaurant, that is why I gave it a four-star, the steak was good and so was the French fries, we had a great Groupon deal, which made it affordable for us even though we are on a tight budget, overall we had a really beautiful evening thank you Katie.
Horrible place. Stay far away. Service is horrible. People are rude and food is gross. Once placed an order for delivery, soup was burnt, wrap I ordered was half spilling out. Said they would refund next time. Next time went in there they said they had no idea what I was talking about. Another time I placed an order online at around 11 and it never showed up.

2021-09-01While in NYC on a holiday, we stayed at the Newton hotel and someone recommended we visited a nearby kosher restaurant called Talia’s Steakhouse. We booked table of 2 guests for the pre-Shabbat dinner which they offer every Friday night. My spouse and I enjoyed the food and the ambiance tremendously. We plan to be in Manhattan on Rosh Hashanah and we will definitely book for their pre-paid dinners for Rosh Hashanah. Highly recommended.

2022-03-23I have been to this restaurant more than 5 times at different hours specially late nights. You truly need to try the food here and realize how good the dishes are. The best part is they are one of the only kosher restaurants open in nyc who would serve you steak and chicken at 4:00 am in the morning.

2021-10-18KOSHER Steakhouse - Dim lit and date ambiance.I highly suggest this restaurant for a date. It’s not very busy here most of the time and I’m glad about that since I usually end up here on last minutes dates. Can never go wrong with this place. They have delicious steak and not to mention the service is 10/10.

2022-01-16My dinner at Talia’s this past Saturday night was one of the best culinary experiences of my life. I started off with a crisp Goldstar lager imported straight from the holy land which was fantastic, and my date also quite enjoyed her margarita. Then the food came out and boy was it a cornucopia of flavors. We had the wings as an appetizer and then the Atlantic salmon and the ribeye steak. I can’t say enough about how tasty all the food was, and the service was equally impressive. As a bonus, there was a jazz duo playing live as we ate, which was really soothing and was the perfect noise level that allowed us to enjoy the music without being too loud to prevent us from having a conversation. Overall 11/10 would recommend!

Very tasty.. The ambience and live music on some nights are awesome.

2018-10-16Ive been to Talias a few times. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We ordered from the daily specials were amazed by the platters. The BBQ short ribs was a huge plate of tender and delicious meat. We couldnt even touch the mashed potatoes that came with it. We also ordered roast lamb and pasta with a mushroom sauce that was again all meat with a little pasta. We left stuffed and happy.

2021-10-11What a wonderful place for my wife’s birthday party! I would have posted this yesterday, the date of the party (October 10)but we received so many phone calls from guests telling us what a wonderful venue this was for my wife’s party!! The service was superb, all the food, especially the appetizers, were excellent and the staff was the most accommodating!! Can’t wait to throw another party and it certainly would be At Talia’s. From this review, you can see, we highly recommend this place. Five stars is inadequate to show what a wonderful time was had and how superb everything was for all guests !
