Great bar - dive bar vibes, but with finesse! Forgot entirely to take any photos, we were having such a good time. Kevin - who served us - was fabulous, going out of his way to suggest cocktails & even recommend the best liquor (spirit) choices to go in them. Honestly, this was the best martini I’ve had in NYC - it deserves to be added to many lists! Absolutely worth a visit, whether you’re in the city as a couple, friends, or with work!
Grabbed a few drinks after a show at Carnagie hall, so first plus was how easy to walk from the venue to the bar was. The staff were welcoming, as we were greeter by a complimentary coat check upon entering..Drinks were very well made, I made a few of their house mules, with Hendrix in place of the traditional vodka. Service was solid, and I have no complaints about the price given the location. Worth checking out.
Excellent place for brunch or an evening of cocktails. Had brunch on weekend and they had live jazz. Brunch menu had a lot of choices. We ordered shrimp and grits and salmon eggs Benedict. Loved it. Came back on a Saturday night and the dj and live music was dope. Loved it.
Amazing bar, very cool atmosphere. Cocktails are so delicious and rich in flavor. The bartender was so friendly and nice, he was dancing all evening and making cocktails, always smiling. I really like how he always taking care of us, even just for filling the water so we had feeling we are constantly taken care of.
Came for a brunch and it was fairly empty. Food was surprisingly good! Enjoyed my kale salad and the poutine. We came back for drinks around 6pm another time, and it was PACKED! I really liked the coffee drink. Not really sure I’d call it “prohibition themed” but cool vibe.
Loved the service and the food. Dont worry. You will get your moneys worth! Highly reccomend being seated outdoors for the views. I wish there was some music playing up there but other than that I highly reccomend this place especially for a date night! Had a lovely experience.
This is a really good spot... Went to the basement...the drinks were reasonably priced. I have a few cocktails which were great... couldnt complain about the beers as well...they had a good selection...the only reason I deducted was because of the lighting....it was super dark in there...just not something I liked...had to look hard for what I was eating
Great atmosphere and drinks are good. As every bar in NYC these days gets packed very quickly so hard at times to get a drink a weekday after work - def reserve a table ahead of time. The downstairs bar would help but that gets even busier at times and reminds me of a frat house basement bar more then anything.
I had to try Tanner Smith. Tea with a little extra? count me in!.I’m the center of it all Tanner smith has the most beautiful rustic with a dash of the 60’s feel. The decor is just to die for. You can decide if it’s a dressed up type of day or casual. We weren’t as hungry because we ate just before going there. We had the charcuterie board and one of the afternoon teas, with tea-quilla….😜🙈The preserve that was served on the charcuterie board was quite the highlight of the fuse along with the stuffed dates. It was very well paired. We had the east side cocktail but asked our very nice waitress to sub the gin for tequila.Overall best experience ever at an affordable cost.
Cocktails were delicious. The Winona was a pour-yourself-a-drink situation where you’re given an enclosed bottle with the cocktail and smoke to pour out when and however you like. Buffalo chicken spring rolls and poutine were really tasty and exceeded expectations since I thought this place was more known for their drinks. They had a nice outdoor setup with heat lamps over each table which provided a lot of comfort and warmth.
I hosted a happy hour/dinner event at Tanner Smiths last night. The drinks were awesome, the polomas especially that get served in beatiful tea kettles with tea cups! The food was awesome and the service was even better. We had Sean work with us, we were a big group, he just kept the drinks coming and was beyond a pleasure to work with! I host so many events all over the city and Tanner Smiths is my go to place now!! Thanks for a fun evening! I would give 10 stars if I could!
Overall this is a great place to go to if you’re going just for drinks and the vibe. The good - The ambience, drinks, live music, service , location and the atmosphereThe bad - Food. We went for brunch and were thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food. Our oven Italian baked eggs in tomato sauce felt like eating poached eggs in a badly made tomato soup. The poached egg toast was definitely not worth the price. The only upside was the pancake which was quite good. All in all we felt it was definitely not worth the price.
We had a marvelous time here. The servers are really attentive and we felt welcomed. The food was great. I ordered the Avocado toast and loved it. They use a lightly toasted pumpernickel and it works well. My date raved about the burger. And they arent too fat to eat. We had regular fries but we are coming back for the Poutine. And the Truffle Mac & Cheese.
We came here on Monday around seven thirty for dinner without reservation. And there are still have some seats. The atmosphere is really nice. The cocktail treat lightly and Lucky Luis are all great! We ordered jalapeño Mac n cheese add smoked pork shoulder, Brussels sprout hash and grilled shrimp. All of them are tasty, especially the shrimp tacos which is the best tacos flavor Ive ever eaten in NYC. Highly recommend for grab a drink here or for meal!
Cozy pub and bar. Ambient atmosphere. The back has tables to sit and order food if you want. Downstairs is even more cozy and the decor is really cool with a bathtub, framed animal heads on the wall, bird cages, like a little dungeon. The prices will leave you with an empty wallet. The drinks have quirky names but are expensive. The food is good but theres so little of it. A good place for a date if you can afford it. The waitress and waiters are beautiful ;)
We came here on a Thursday night and loved the place right away. The ambience is unbelievably cute. Every single detail is thought through so thoroughly, that you just want to walk around the place staring around. But the real surprise was the food. Oh my god!! Their lamb burger and asparagus salad are of the finest quality. Its really hard to believe that theyre served in a bar.The service was also great. Everything was served to us very fast, we were checked up on frequently. The only downside I can think of is the noise level. However, given how large and popular the place is, its naturally noisy even with no music on.Im absolutely looking forward to going back to Tanner Smith some time soon.
Went here for brunch with a few friends, and had no reservations. They dont accept reservations for groups smaller than 8. The place was not that busy at 11:30 am but by the time we left at 1, it was busy and there was a slight wait for seating. The staff is very attentive at Tanner Smiths and friendly too. They always checked on us every few minutes when we needed service. We did not get any cocktails and coffee/tea were the only beverage we got.For mains I got the Lamb Burger ($17) with Monterey Jack Cheese (+$1) and Sweet Potato Tots (+$4) without the burger bun and got lettuce wrap instead. The burger did taste pretty good. My wife got the Avocado Smash ($15) and thoroughly enjoyed it.Service was excellent and food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering.
I like a place with history, or place that incorporates history in their own way. I found this place, decorated with inspiration from early 20th century New York drinking house. It is an upscale, Prohibition-inspired cocktail bar, and it is named after the famed New York mobster. The interior has really nice atmosphere, with old-fashioned black and white floor, wood ceiling and red brick walls. It was dimmed so that it brings out the relaxing, laid back, “secret” drinking house type of feel. The decoration had nice antique look to it, adding extra nostalgia emotion into the whole mix. And when you think they can’t make it more perfect, they deliver perfection with live Jazz band! They have live Jazz every weekend during brunch hours, completing the look and sound of good ol’ days.We had a cocktail, coffee, Shrimp N Grits Skillet, Salmon Benedict, and Irish Breakfast. It was all good, except for the Salmon Benedict, which I was not very fan of. But I ordered it in haste, so I should have studies the menu a bit better. We had a fun brunch here. The service was friendly and my mother was happy with her grits. The Live Jazz added extra special atmosphere, I wish if their Tipsy Tea is not so expensive, as I would live to have “secret” cocktails out of an old-fashioned tea pot! Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.
Cool choice for the Times Square neighbourhood (which is fairly slim pickings normally). The overt style is ‘speakeasy’ which is a little overplayed but works well in this setting. Keeping with the theme there are cocktails served in tea pots and a few gangster references on the menu.On the downside the avocado on toast was very mediocre; thin on the actual avocado and way too thick on the bread. That was a definite miss. However, the staff were super accomodating with the kids we had in tow, and the overall service was excellent. The other food also made up for that one dish.
This place was absolutely wonderful. I has one of the best salads I have had, and everyone at our table really enjoyed their choices. The lemonade was great, with the taste of real lemon and just enough sugar to cut the edge off the acid. And to top it off, our server was very attentive to detail, and the music was very good. Masks were required, as was proof of vaccination with accompanying picture ID. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great spot to get drinks and meet up with friends. Bartenders are caring and considerate and deliver drinks within a reasonable amount of time. Drink selection also provides a high-quality variety, from beers to cocktails. Overall a positive experience and would recommend and come back again.
A good place to grab a few drinks. There are two levels, upstairs bring more loud and bar like and downstairs is a bit quieter and more lounge like. Want an issue for us to find a seat on a Saturday night. Music and the drinks were good. Easier to grab a drink downstairs. The drink we got thats in the decanter and serves 5 (forgot the name, in pic below) was pretty good and very strong. It was a creeper! Definitely recommend!
Outstanding experience - drinks were creative and well executed and the service is top notch. Try the artichoke smash, the Winona, and the Number 7; all are delicious and unique. My man Josh was fantastic, if you’re lucky enough to have him as a server consider yourself fortunate.Ran out of water at the end. Not a big deal, but I think a review should balance pros and cons.
My Ruben sandwich was delicious. Drinks were good. Just wish we had ventured downstairs instead of sitting at the bar by the front door. Downstairs had a different low key vibethen the main floor was more loud and social. Prices were fair compared to other restaurants in the area.
The first thing you notice is the live jazz group playing in the front of the restaurant area. Then the amazing decor. The staff are all polite and wonderful folks. My cousin and I enjoyed tasty but not heavy drinks with our meal and the food was fantastic! If I was to say something not so great, it would be that I wish I had asked for crispy bacon.
Got here couple of times during our stay nearby. They make really nice cocktails and the bartender actually remembered us from the previous visit and helped to identify the drink my wife had. The food is not bad. We liked the pizza and a salad. Will certainly get back here during next NYC visit.
This place is listed as a speak easy on yelp and it did not disappoint. I cannot recall another place in New York City with great Live Jazz during Sunday brunch that I honestly thought was recorded! Then, of course, there is the food and servers...we were so lucky to have Josh...Amazing! He was so patient and kind as he answered all of our questions and helped us to decide what to have on this visit. Did I mention the menu has something for everyone? Initially, I asked for the lunch menu because I was a bit overwhelmed with the choices and thought I should just get lunch, but, I like many others as explained by Josh could only make a selection from the brunch menu. He took the time to find out what I might like and guided my selection and I wasnt disappointed. They have great burger with 3 cuts of beef, but I decided to have the flatbread with a side of grilled steak and smoked pork to share. We also ordered the Salmon dish and the Irish Breakfast which boast blood sausage. There are vegan and gluten free options as well. If you go, plan to have the fresh squeezed orange juice, it rivals fresh pressed in Europe. Definitely worth it.
The drinks are fabulous. The entertainment is unbelievably good (Sunday night). The service is truly wonderful. Thank you to the bar tenders, management, and staff for making our engagement extremely special and something to remember forever. If youre in the neighborhood, go. If youre not, get there...
I don’t know why Google lists this as having a happy hour, but I asked (and confirmed) at the bar that they don’t do happy hour here. That said, they have a pretty decent craft beer selection and an extensive cocktail list. Only tried a beer and service was great. Nice dark cool place for a beer if you’re out in the heat. Beers are $8-9, cocktails looked about $14+. About standard for the neighborhood.
Im reviewing their downstairs cocktail bar. Great little basement bar for quality cocktails. Their signature Winona is awesome. Served in a bottle and topped with smoke the aroma from this cocktail as you sip it is just amazing. Smoky and rich, its a great treat on a chilly day.
These drinks are done really well. I was visiting from Canada on work trip and was looking for a good old fashioned. Look no further than this place, especially if you like a smokey taste!I dont quite recall the name of this drink, but it was amazing and I highly recommend it!
We were there strictly for drinks and got in before the bar rush. Regardless, service was regular and fast. The cocktails were all good and more importantly creative. Would go again, and thats saying a lot from a non local that travels on business and likes to shake things up.
Thank goodness the bathroom has mirrors!! Ive had to sneak away to the lou quite a few times to reapply my makeup and pop out the ladies. The bar is packed (I mean photoshoot trip to Aruba in a weekend bag PACKED) with attractive people who have jobs! Definitely worth the trip up from LES at 5pm. But if you dont get someone to cover your drinks, youre in trouble. Their beer and wine is insanely overpriced.
Exceptional food and amazing staff!! We ordered the food and picked it up late in the night and not only was the food delicious, the staff/cooks went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we asked for in an organized manner ranging from sauces, desserts, and utensils. Believe me, not all restaurants do this and sometimes just throw things in a bag and wish you good luck on your way out that you got everything you paid for - not this place! We cant wait to go back and give them even more business!
Wish I took a photo or two but didn’t want to look like a tourist here 😂 the atmosphere here was cozy - the service friendly- the music old school cool. The bar features 2 or 3 chairs between partitions - well done! The cost for drinks was expected for a place like this in NYC - 2 beers and 2 glasses of Cabernet ran about $70. Yes it did. The choice of wines and beers wasn’t as varied as I thought it might be but it was good enough. They have a 90 minute seating limit. Dress nice but casual and you will fit right in.
I love The Winnona which is a smoke infused whiskey sipper they smoke in front of you. Delightful but I recommend asking for a 2nd cherry! A bit more $$ than Im used to spending at home (Minneapolis, MN) but very competitive for Manhattan and very classy. The T-shirts have a fun slogan on the back of youre looking for a more unique souvenir. Enjoy!
Pretty cool place. Lighting is dim and makes it more intimate. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and we had some good conversation. I was from Houston visiting and we talked about whiskey and other stuff. I had the BLT with garlic fries and the sandwich was amazing. Great food, great atmosphere, great workers.
Absolutely beautiful bar. The bartenders are charming, the atmosphere is rustic and relaxed, and service is quick and easy. You cant go wrong ordering Tanner Smiths Signature Cocktail - The Winona. The Hickory and Oak Wood smoke infusion is a beautiful addition to the whiskey. Tip - if you prefer your whiskey on the stronger side (like me), ask them to hold the orange peel.
Doing a really good job with their outdoor seating. Every table is in a separate heated room. So comfortable and safe. Staff were genuine and nice. They have 90 minute seating limit due to low capacity. But they handle it very well, and still felt welcomed. Food was tasty as were hot drinks. Will be back
This place is fantastic! My friend and I dined here last night before catching Gary Gulman at Carnegie Hall (thanks for sharing all those details). Sean the host/manager was so patient with me as I was contemplating sitting outside, inside etc etc. (My friend and I ended up sitting outside in this very cute enclosed area with heat lamps). Mike escorted me out to the table and within minutes, Josh our waiter showed up.My friend and I split the eggplant chips and forest mushroom flatbread - both delish! I had a glass of prosecco and chardonnay. Portions are a great size and we were both stuffed afterwards. The food, service, ambiance across the board were fabulous.Well definitely be back. Highly recommend!
We tried 3 meals and 2 appetizers and all were Phenomenal. The wait staff; especially Danny went way above and beyond. The drinks were an experience. The only place we went to several times on our weekend get a way. First and only review I have have done. Well worth the stop!!
Unexpectedly surprised! We went on a Friday afternoon and able to get a nice quiet table. Not a vegan restaurant but still had great selection for vegans and vegetarians. Chickpeas threes ways was excellent. Hummus, falafel and polenta. The small touches were not un-noticed. Garnished with baby cilantro and fried chickpeas. Served with warm toasted pita. Garlic fries and the vegan wrap were great. Custom cocktail list was also amazing! Swan song was super tasty. Possibly the best highlight was the server. Friendly and informative. When he went on break his lovely coworker jumped in for seamless service. Decor was clean and well done. Definitely recommend.
Great outdoor COVID set up. Great service. Great food (loved the burger, hot chicken sandwich, Thai deviled eggs, etc). And great drinks (esp. their signature Winona). Slightly premium pricing but worth it. Docked only one star because of the 3% fee they charge for Credit Card transactions. With the world moving towards a more cashless society, Tanner going the other way is disappointing. But would return...and will have cash this time.
Worst waiter service. Took our order then disappeared. 3% hidden credit card charge not listed on website or touchless menu. Decent food despite the fact that they ruined my salad noise by overcooking the tuna despite the fact that I ordered it black and blue. So loud inside where we were sat, making it a bad experience.
Went here for dinner and drinks recently and everything was really good. Staff was courteous and friendly, good variety of food and drinks including vegetarian and vegan options, bathrooms were very clean, nice decor. Tables are well-spaced for covid which also allows for more privacy.
I came into this place early on St Pattys day and boy was I impressed! Ashling was absolutely lovely, giving us tons of recommendations when requested and just overall providing a high level of service and warmth. We joked around and immediately felt right at home. The establishment in general is beautiful! Its nearly as pleasant and welcoming as the staff. Food was great and creative but not too creative as to not qualify as comfort food, which mine certainly was. The cocktail menu was really excellent with drinks listed from lighter to more liquor forward options. My brother got an old fashioned-type drink so smooth that I had to order one directly after. The cocktail came with a spherical ice cube in a glass and a smoke-filled bottle with spirits that you allow to infuse (for as long as you can stand to wait) before pouring into the glass yourself. It was a perfect way to start the holiday- best Guinness ever!
I loved the atmosphere in here, its low lighting which always feels extra cozy to me. They had a couple of St. Patricks Day specials and me and my boyfriend decided to go for those. I ordered the bangers and mash and bf ordered the shepherds pie. They both tasted good but werent all that noteworthy. I would like to come back and try one of their cocktails and maybe some food on the regular menu!
Came here without a reservation for lunch at noon on a weekend and we were able to get a table for 4 adults + 2 kids. The majority of their seating is in the back of the restaurant. They pulled 3 tables together and all of us were very comfortable. They only had one high chair at the time but they were going to ask their sister restaurant for one, they kept us updated about the status of the high chair but after about 30-45 min, they told us they werent able to get one. Which was fine. I am glad that they tried and kept us updated about it. The AC worked well and we were very comfortable in the restaurant. They also had live music/performance out in the front.I had the skillet baked pancakes which I thought was excellent. I ate it without the whipped butter and still thought it was excellent. The edges were crispy. The marmalade + maple syrup + dusted sugar wasnt too sweet or overpowering. The texture was soft. The service was excellent. I found the place to be quite baby friendly.I would definitely come here again. You can come here with a group of 10 and it would be okay but come early so you wont have to wait in line.
Attended a private event here this evening, very impressed. The staff was.pleasant and very professional. The selection of food was lovely and flavorful. The cocktail selection was impressive and carefully curated. Each cocktail I saw was made withcare. The signature cocktail I enjoyed was a Winona, made with with freshly smoked bourbon, with the bourbon smoked individually. Highly enjoyed the experience.
This place is fantastic. Great ambiance, exactly the right feel you would want from a place like this. Bartender recommended their signature drink, which was an old fashioned where the liquid was prepared in a bottle with actual smoke to make a smoky old fashioned. So fun! Food was good, service was good. If youre in midtown Manhattan, make a point to come here
It is prohibition style and has an early 20th century feel to it, floor to ceiling. The area downstairs is even more awesome. Its quiet and dark with candles and low ceilings. The upstairs gets rowdy on some nights, but they are good and you still dont wait long for drinks. They do a solid smoked old fashioned, so even if you dont get one yourself you will probably get to witness and smell someone else get theirs. The fries were surprisingly good, but all the food was pretty decent. They dont make you check your coat or anything, but they have coat racks they set up in season if you want to use them.
Went to the downstairs bar for some late night drinks with some friends. We had a great time. The bartenders were very nice and the drinks were strong. I really liked the atmosphere.,..it was dark and mysterious but not in a bad way, but like you stepped back in time into a speakeasy. Super coolDefinitely coming back here for round 2!
Tried to catch a brunch here but barely missed it so we had lunch instead. Great ambience and was lovely. Great attentive service and great food. Seating style was probably one of the better thing to note as it fits over the speakeasy style while some are elevated which was a nice change. Would go again.
The bartender was excellent on a Tuesday afternoon. Full bar and she had it covered. But they absolutely do NOT have a happy hour. Full price all the time. But the cocktails are definitely worth it. Give them a chance. The 3 *s are only because we saw that they had a happy hour, and that was clearly false.
Great drinks, great food, great people. Bartenders make some very clever custom drinks, but their off menu stuff is awesome too. If you like Sazerac, this is the best one Ive ever had. Smoked old fashioned, also best. Pretty crazy because I just found this place walking by. Dont pass it up. Plenty of room too!
Awesome ambience. Warm and cozy on a windy Saturday morning. Do not miss out on the always look back cocktail! Their cocktails are the best.we were a group of 5 and all 5 cocktails were out of this world :) a little on the expensive side but worth it all :) PS : the garlic fries are awesome.
Easily the best cocktails we had on this side of town. They are not over priced like so many of the places. Bar staff is nice and all the people that were making cocktails mixed everything very well. Their Manhattan on draft is very strong and very delicious and I would definitely recommend it.The tacos were especially good as well as the poutine, however I would ask for gravy on the side if you are really wanting to have a more classic poutine experience. If you get the pork tacos they just a little salt. Overall I really appreciated that the food had a great base seasoning and you could salt to taste.
Mixed experiences here. The basement is very nice. Its comfortable and quieter. Youd like it if you like speakeasies. The upstairs is super packed with young professionals - a good place to go for expensive drinks with co-workers. The tables in the back are okay, but its still really loud. The food and servers were okay at best
Fun bar! Have held corporate event here. Staff is friendly and made the event awesome. I have also come for drinks at the bar and sat at the table for dinner. Their seasonal nachos are amazing. I love this place. I also recommend it to friends, family and coworkers when they are in the area.
Had a great brunch with live blues/jazz and customers swing dancing. Possibly the best fries Ive had in a long time. Female bartender communicated non verbally that she was over worked but the men were very good and very nice. Our food runner was hilarious. Great time. Ill go back.
Tanner Smiths provided a solid brunch for us on their huge outdoor seating area, and the food was fantastic. We visited Tanner Smiths on a relatively cool weekend right before lunch, and sat outside to enjoy one of the last nice weekends in the city before it gets back to the cold. The outdoor seating is solidly constructed, well spaced out, and has lots of built in heat lamps that will provide solace should it colder than is desired. We ordered a tipsy tea, which is a cocktail served in a beautiful and ornate tea pot, which you pour over similarly ornate tea cups that hold a large sphere of ice. We got the paloma, and it was made well and tasty, and also fantastic value. For food, we ordered the double smoked cheeseburger and the New York style poutine. No regrets, at all. The burger was huge and cheesy and decadent, and absolutely everything I wanted from every bite. The poutine, which we hadnt had since moving to New York City from Canada, was ooey and gooey and so full of gravy and cheese, that it really hit the spot.Took a star off because of the service, to be frank. Our server was fine, but there are two things that stuck out, and both had to do with communication.1) I asked to replace the fries that came with my burger with tater tots, which are the same price on the sides menu, but they werent sure if that could be done. They said they would check, and let me know if it was possible. After a few minutes, they came back and said yes it was possible! I was pumped, until the server then casually mentioned before they left that it was $4, and I told them to put it back because I would rather have been told that before having the decision being made for me.2) The price shown on the receipt is the cash discount price, which sure I get, and is visible on the receipt, but our server did not bother pointing it out either when bringing the bill or picking up my credit card to process the payment.Small issues, really, and I would give a 4.5 if I could, but those two things took away from the level of service provided.Either way, would definitely come back for more drinks and food, which far exceeded expectations!
Extremely busy bar, but the food and cocktails are great! The service was slow though. They have a wonderful cocktail list, and of course we ordered The Drop Kick Mule $13. It was super sweet, but a delicious cocktail. I had the Midnight Moonshine $13 which I looooooooooooooved. We shared a nachos with the beef, it was stringy cheese, thick, and loaded with meat. So very good! And the skewers were light and yummy. Definitely a cool bar!
Surprisingly sane midtown brunch spot. Spacious so that you wont feel rushed and just low enough light your hangover will appreciate it. The waitstaff was helpful and were accommodating to our party. Food was lovely and unsurprising. If you want to enjoy a relaxed brunch with friends and not yell and elbow your way towards your recovery this is the right spot.
This is kind of a cool bar but it seems confused in is identity. Still trying to figure out what they where going for. The food is all over the place with theme but its decent enough. Its very busy upstairs but had a bunch more seating down below. The two stars is really for the service! The waiter was not that friendly and we where ignored. We really had to flag then down if you could find them at all. Then when paying they moved up our cards sending back two from our party and one from another. That then took another 20 mins to void and charge us all again. With only a brush off sorry. I would have expect more from a place like this.
Price: $30 for drink and a small plate of foodI almost dont want to write this review because TS is already super crowded and I hate to see it even more crowded. But what can I say? This place is one of my favorite spots to chill. The vibe is great, the music is great, the drinks are delicious and strong and the food is delicious! What more could you seriously ask for?It tends to be a bit of a dressier crowd than a typical bar, but mainly because a lot of folks come after work.

It was a perfect way to start the holiday- best Guiness ever!I will certainly be back, and hopefully Ill be able to request the same server because she was the cherry on top of my awesome experience!
Tanner Smiths seems like a great place for a private/semi-private event for a large group - in fact, I originally scoped this place out for a company event. Unfortunately, our availabilities didnt match up, but Im sure at some point, we will be back here. The space is awesome!I came here with a friend for drinks and was intimidated by how busy it was on the ground floor. We made our way to the bar, ordered a drink, and closed out, hoping for a table. There are only a few up front by the door, and they are first-come, first-serve.Head downstairs, though, and there are actual tables and plenty of space to sit and hang. Servers service downstairs, so you dont have to head back to the bar for another drink. We ordered two appetizers to counter the booze, and were pleasantly surprised by the warm pretzels with cheese dipping sauce and loaded nachos. This is a great place to go to experience the bar scene upstairs, or have a quieter group get-together downstairs.

2022-02-11While staying in Manhattan recently, someone at my hotel recommended Tanner Smith’s as a place for wine. I’m glad my sister and I took them up on their recommendation, because the drinks, the food, and the service were all fantastic. My sister and I basically told our server to pick the wine and food for us, after we gave him a few guidelines like sparkling white wine and gluten-free food. He brought out a tasty Prosecco, and then when he brought out this fried eggplant, I tried it and it was so delicious that I seriously didn’t believe it was gluten-free. I asked him to come back to the table just to verify because I have never, EVER had any other gluten-free appetizer come anywhere near this level. Whoa!It was a fun girls night, but I can see how it had a nice date night ambiance as well. I’d recommend it for both.

2022-04-17Truly an excellent dining experience! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, even charming.Ordered the Winona cocktail which is like a smoked old fashioned and it was quite enjoyable. The pancake was light and fluffy like an actual cake and had a tasty fruit reduction on top along with whipped cream and a sprig of mint. It’s these details that set it apart from other nearby restaurants.Planning to return to try one of their whiskey flights.

2022-07-06Great experience, came in after work. The Visual ambience of this place was very beautiful, the bar was pretty full so we sat at the secondary bar. Drinks were pretty amazing and moderately priced for New York $17.50 Spicy margarita was amazing, not only visually but the taste.Bartenders were friendly and fun overall great time went back in New York I’ll surely stop in.

2022-04-26Really upbeat atmosphere and decor. Good cocktails and solid bar food. I had the BLT and fries. Very tasty and perfect for what we wanted. Server was very polite. They have restrooms and indoor or outdoor heated seating.

2022-05-17Stranded in NY after missing a connecting flight. Found this Gem around the corner from my hotel. Great bar with excellent, atmosphere, music & friendly service. We actually had dinner from their late night menu which was perfect. Drinks kept coming in. Justin was just amazing!

2022-02-25Stopped in for a quick drink before a dinner reservation. Excellent cocktails and nice interior vibe. Got busy with a happy hour crowd but bar tenders and staff were great. Cocktail for everyone on the menu

2022-03-28Tanner Smith’s is one of my favorite joints to grab a snack and/or drink in a nice bar setting, or to just chill with some friends. It gets a bit loud at times but has great atmosphere. Great boozy teapot drinks!!

2022-05-16What a find! This place has such a chill atmosphere its easy to forget youre in the middle of New York, especially after a couple of their unique and delicious cocktails. I ordered the Winona, which is a take on an old fashioned, and was pleasantly surprised to see it served to me in an old timey bottle filled with smoke. The look was quirky and the taste was amazing. Speaking of which, the food was great too. We had the buffalo chicken spring rolls and the egg plant chips which paired really well together.
