Not coming back. For the amount they charge it’s definitely not worth. The meats are salty as many reviewers say.Guac was okay but for $11 I think more guac or more flavor. It did look slightly thin but flavor was 3/5Steak burrito- so salty. Pitiful amount of watery lettuce and pico with a little guac come as side. I would change the name to beef burrito since it really wasn’t ‘steaky’ it was more like stewed beef. Again really salty.Al pastor tacos- salty. Couldn’t really appreciate any flavor beyond salt.
Taqueria La Picardia rocks! The food is excellent. Some of the best Mexican food I have had. The prices are reasonable and the service is good.In addition to the great food there is lots of Greatful Dead memoribilia on the walls. This brought me back to my university days.
Stopped in to try it out. Loved the Dead memorabilia! Had the chicken carnitas brisket and veggie tacos. Added some spicy green sauce and some super duper spicy red sauce. This was hands down the best tacos by far. Meat and seasonings was delicious. Very fresh. So good!
In town on business. Tried Taqueria today cause it was recommended. I was very hungry and disappointed with my food. Ordered 2 shrimp tacos with veggies, beans and rice. When I return to my location with the take out I discovered there was 3 corn tortillas soggy with 2 shrimps and veggies and had pork in the mixture ( specifically asked the cashier no pork) then the rice was under cooked. hard and blain. I was very unhappy and didnt have plastic utensils in the bag to eat the beans and rice. Had to scoop then up with a lid. The cashier seemed fishy when she gave me my food to go. Smh This is not a place for minorities. Didnt feel welcome and paid $14.00 bucks for nonsense.
*This was a delivery order*Hands down worst burrito ever, ordered with steak, which was more like ground dried up salty shavings of I dont know what. Fortunately I discarded most of it even though knowing how much I spent on the burrito and time waited for it. The reason I say Im fortunate for discarding it was because, the little I did consume, I paid the price the next day. Absolutely terrible and disgusting.
Pricing may be better than el tío across the street. My mom actually had bad exp on her visit to el tío. I know the owners and I think its great. I encourage owners to have variety in aguas frescas.I have just updated a 5 Star to 3 Star on my recent visit. I ordered Tacos al pastor with Cheese and something smelled not right. Something didnt smell fresh and therefore did not eat the 2/3 tacos. For the price you expect a quality taco to the owner of this location. Push for fresh. Was disappointed with the meal after visiting this place 4 other times. I expect consistency in quality but the most recent was a disappointment. Will think about my next visit.Next update from 3 to 2 stars for not giving an order as requested. I asked to add cheese to my order and failed 2-3 times.
Went in sort of by accident, wanted to grab something quick before going to a show at the Capitol theater across the street. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and delicious and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Authentic food, freshly prepared Whats not to like?
I wonder how difficult is to make tacos? I ordered two tacos de chorizo and because of the great reviews I was expecting los tacos to be delicious and juice... wrong.... they were dried, chorizos were not cook, they had no flavor... I had to put a lot of hot sauce to disguise the awful flavor.Another issue: way to expensive - location sucks and food is awful.Don’t waste you money and time.
Born Californian, raised on Mexican food, I was sceptical that it was even Mexican food not Salvadoran or Puerto Rican.Well I am impressed! From the moment we squeezed in the door with our group of 8 to a packed restaurant we felt like beloved family. Once we were seated the service was exemplary. The food was outstanding, flavorful and very authentic! I am so happy to know there is always a delicious taco nearby for when I visit The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. Thank you!
Solid experience overall but not remarkable. Came here with a friend before movie and I did enjoy the experience. I purchased tacos with carne asada, chorizo and carnitas. All three had good flavor. I did find the tacos to be a little bit dry.we did order guac for the table and I was disappointed that the chips came cold. I would not refuse to return, but I would try several other places locally before I would come back.
Sign says taco Tuesdays $2 on the window. This place is a complete scam. We walked in the door at 10:30 p.m. and were told that Tuesday ended at 10 p.m. and we would have to order off the regular menu. Prices were double. Food was just okay but, seriously? Service was only barely passable. They were clearly taking advantage of the after concert crowd. Avoid this place if you can, they will just take advantage of you
Terrible place terrible staff. The owner or manager completely ignored me. But when people of paticular race (take a wild guess) he jumped up and nearly smothered them to death. Typical behavior in this town i must say.I spent $55 dollars on subpar tacos. (Besides the tacos arabe that was somewhat decent). And the pozole had a huge glob of fat take took up half of the container. Awful awul awful. Do not waste your time here seriously i rather go to taco bell than this place.P.s. they charged me 2 dollars for sour cream and of course they forgot to put it in.🙄
This is a great taco shop. Not a lot of frills beyond great tacos, but then it might not be a taco shop.Ordered 2 steak, 2 shrimp and had a good meal. The shrimp are especially light and tasty. The steak may have been a tad dry, but the hot sauce was a great condiment that also adds some moistness.Dont be put off by the look, Taqueria La Picardia is charming in its own way! Great fresh tacos here!!!
The Quality is ok but service it’s very poor and the really bad part they are very dishonest people they will take the 20% gratitude without asking or deserve it , but I understand if they have to do it , now they don’t let you know they did all ready include it. And I did leave another 20 % on tap of that on the innocent way , sense I didn’t knew that they all ready decide they deserve it and take it on their own and again that’s fine . But they have to be honest and let you know , if you want take my advice never go to this place or if you go make sure check your ticket closely before they take extra money
Was there last Sun. evening 9/16...ordered the chicken tacos with onions and cilantro... the meat was very, very dry and just really didn’t taste fresh or genuine...only ate one taco because it just tasted bad... fast forward five hours and I vomited like crazy...spent all day Monday throwing up about six more times couldn’t even hold liquids down.. finally went to an urgent care Tues because I was still vomiting... doctor said it had to be spoiled food... I have never posted a bad review, however, really felt this should be posted.
The reason i only gave this place 2 stars was very simple. The food was great for taco tuesday...i was there late last night...but the waitress was extremely miserable and horrible attitude. I walked in and she approached me like she just hated her job..she pointed to a table and i asked to sit in the corner table by the window..and she just pointed at the table she wanted me to sit in...then gave a menu...i made up my mind what i wanted and when i told her she rolled her eyes and said that they were out of those tacos...it was so funny that she had to pass by me everytime to serve other people but never once asked if everything was ok or if i needed anything. She preffered other customers in the place. I asked for another drink and it sat at the bar for a good 8.minutes before another waitress served it to me....the waitress that originally served me was more concerned of flirting w the bartender and checking her cell. This happened on Tuesday August 15...and it seemed that the owners were in the restaurant but she didnt care. She was a slighty chubby waitress and taller than the other waitress that was there..which was actually nice. My advice is if you want more business in a important business street like Westchester Ave....have this waitress adjust her attitude or find someone that likes to.work. Because u got alot of competition on your block for food..just saying!!!
If you’re hitting up a show at Capitol ,this is the perfect pre-show meal! Taqueria Portchester is a super sweet place w deceivingly simple , *very fresh* ingredients boasting clean authentic tastes at affordable ( unpretentious!) prices. I love LOVE this place for its kind, polite & efficient staff & the Boho-Mexicano relaxed atmosphere. I’ve eaten here a bunch of times & its always a super pleasant Bonus 1. A yummy Mexican beverage I never remember the name of (ask! it’s purple!) 2. great background music 3. A genuinely happy vibe 4. not overrun with obnoxious Westchesterites!
Very disappointing! I had eaten dinner here twice before. Today I had lunch. The tamale was obviously just reheated; it was a tamales with very little chicken. You can tell microwave chicken cause it was tough (could not be cut with a knife). The chicken tacos were two rolled corn tortillas (obviously their was of trying to make it appear with substance. again, with very little chicken nuggets. I will not be eating here again. Ill be sticking to Coyote Flaco.
This restaurant should be cited for false advertising. I went to their place on June 20, 2017 at around 1:30 pm for their Tacos Tuesday special. Got there and AFTER they asked me for my drink order, informed me there is no Taco Tuesday today because there is some kind of show going on at the theater across the street at night. There was only 3 tables occupied in the whole restaurant and mind you the show is at night! They should put up a sign or notice on their website that informs people there is no taco tuesday on certain tuesdays BEFORE THEY MAKE THE TRIP OVER. Im legit furious I came out here for nothing. Ill be submitting this to the BBB and other consumer protection groups/agencies. So annoying when businesses blatantly lie about their promotions to get you in the door just to pull the bait and switch on you.
So disappointed, I am a regular customer 3-4 times a week. Today I called to place an order I was told they never sell tortas before. Ive been bragging to my co-workers about the delicious food and tortas from this place. So sad the poor customer service and arrogance of the person who answered the phone. hopefully gets better, i will think twice before going here or recommending this place again.
The phone service is terrible, they dont answer or they leave you on hold and hang up on you, when I want to order by phone I always end up calling and ordering better at Tío because here in Picardy they dont want your order, and there are a few waitresses who they like to make faces at customers behind their backs, there what they have the most is waiters but not even with so many waiters can they give a good service.I like the tacos from this place but I prefer the ones from Tío; Uncles are also tasty, and Uncles tortillas have better flavor I dont know if they are made by hand but the tortillas are thicker and richer and above all good service unlike this place the difference is great. Anyway, I hope they improve that lousy service, friends. I think its because they hire only high school kids🤔 oh and another thing there, waiters who pretend they dont understand Spanish🤣🙄..

2022-05-09The food is good not great. The guacamole was a bit soupy. The deserts actually are the best part about this place. The churros are stuffed with I think Dulce de Leche and were delicious. The Tres Leches cake was super moist and yummy. They had only one server who I felt may have been stretched thin. But she was super nice and super attentive despite that. She did a great job.Not sure if Id go back.

2021-10-22We were in town for a show just up the road at The Cap and stopped by for a quick bite. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fast! The walls are adorned with memorabilia from The Grateful Dead as well as other acts that played in town. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. If you’re in town be sure to stop by for a quality meal.

2021-10-13It took some time for us to decide where we wanted to go to celebrate our anniversary. After much contemplation, we decided upon tacos and Taqueria La Picardia in Port Chester. The reviews were great. We got dressed up to have a quiet and lovely anniversary dinner. Initially, it was difficult to find parking, but we eventually parked in the train station parking lot. Looking around, we noticed that there must be some kind of Grateful Dead concert going on because there were a lot of Grateful Dead type fans all around. When we walked up to the restaurant, similar fans were seated outside of the restaurant eating. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we realized this was not a dress up and have a chill celebratory dinner type of place. We were okay with that, so we decided to stay. We really wanted to try Birria tacos for the first time. The restaurant started to fill up and they tended to seat people next to each other, so it really felt cramped and uncomfortable. There were parties on both sides of us and one would occasionally cough. It was a bit worrisome. Our waiter came over and asked if we wanted to order, so we told him that we would order our drinks and appetizers first and then we would order the entree later. I don’t know why we did it that way, but I’m glad we did. Waiting for our food and looking around the restaurant, the walls were filled with Grateful Dead paraphernalia. We realized this was a hang out for that crowd. We were the only non concert goers in the restaurant at that time. There seemed to have been some sort of confusion going on with the waiters. The restaurant wasn’t full to capacity, but the waiters looked confused. It also took a while for us to get our drinks and chips and salsa. It was strange. There were two concert goers to the left that started complaining and saying they don’t mind being Karens, they wanted their food. We finally got our flor de Jamaica agua fresca drink. If you like sorrel, then you would like this. Sipping on our drinks, waiting for our food, our chips and salsa finally came out. I was surprised that it was chips and Pico de Gallo, but I’m not complaining. We were hungry and it was good. Waiting for our tacos, I noticed one waitress tell our waiter that maybe she could help him and get our food. He rudely waived her off and told her, he would take care of us. It was very strange because he didn’t seem interested in taking care of our table. Someone else finally brought the tacos. The Birria tacos didn’t look how I expected them to look, so I asked if these were the same type of tacos I thought they were. She explained to me that the Birria tacos that we see all over social media are more like quesadillas. After she walked away, I realized we were never given cutlery. Our waiter was no where to be found by us. We told the same waitress that we were never given a fork or anything. She literally brought us two forks in some napkins. We needed a knife. We called the other waitress over and asked her for a knife. She brought us two proper sets. She seemed to be the only person that cared for us as customers. The tacos were great. The Birria tacos were full of flavor. You could definitely tell the beef was slow cooked. They were delicious. After we finished the tacos. We literally were just left hanging. Our waiter seemed very consumed with taking care of all of his other patrons needs. He never came to us. It was so bad that the same waitress asked if she could come over and help us and he shut her down with the quickness. I told my spouse that we’re not ordering another thing and we need to leave. My spouse went up to the register and kindly asked our waiter for a check. He waived my spouse off and told my spouse to wait a minute. We were livid. I left as my spouse paid. It is actually really really disappointing. The food is great but our presence didn’t seemed appreciated like all the other patrons. We will not be going back.

2022-06-03The tacos here are good, and they are prepared in an authentic style. However, I thought they were a bit too spicy and salty for my taste. Service was pretty good though; the lone server did a good job in taking care of me. 4/5

2022-06-17We got burritos that were soggy, nachos that were soggy, and an order of guacamole for $11.50. For this price, you could get twice the amount at any other restaurant. I was very disappointed!

2022-05-20We just ordered out for 5 from Taqueria. They struggled taking our order. After the third call we thought they got it right. Nope. Got back home and two of the dishes were wrong. I called and they insisted I bring the orders back so they could inspect them. Surprise! They were wrong. Charged me extra for their initial mistake. I asked for some extra guacamole for my trouble in having to come back. Said flat out “no” and walked away Horrible and incompetent customer service. We recommend using another local Mexican restaurant.

2021-10-08I paid $7.25 for this “esquite”! This place should be ashamed of having this item in their menu for $7.25!!!! This is just poorly cooked corn, mixed with some type of sour cream and chipotle mayo and a micro pinch of cheese. This is such a poor execution of what an “esquite” actually is!!! Distrusting !!!!!!

2020-07-03I will never go to another place for tacos and get the same quality that this place has. I’ve been coming to Taqueria La Picardia for years now and nothing compares to these tacos. The tacos are so juicy, the cilantro and onion are so delicious, and their sauces are immaculate. The women that work there are always so kind and happy! And the place itself is very cute. A lot of times I’ve been in to eat they play reggae music, which I enjoy listening to while I’m eating and talking with friends. There’s absolutely no place like this one, and I’d be eating there everyday if I could.
