A two level spanish fusion restaurant with an extensive wine selection. The appetizers and paella took a while to come put, but was worth the wait. Good ratio of rice to seafood and chorizo for the paella, just scorched enough on the bottom to add flavor and texture. Wait staff very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu and specials. Cellar area a bit noisy, possible the brick cove reverberating conversation.
Well executed Caribbean Spanish dishes that highlight the ingredients and are rich in flavors. The calamar with squid ink was wonderfully light and tender. Despite the focus on seafood, I’d also highly recommend the skirt steak with yuca fries and chimichurri. Pata negra iberico ham also available as a special. Great space and ambiance for an intimate dinner!
I am a Spaniard who loves Caribbean food and this restaurant is my favorite I have had of both categories in NYC. Have returned here 3x since I first tried it a few months ago ago! Not only are the food and cocktails absolutely spectacular but service is also consistently attentive, kind, and quick. I cannot recommend this place enough. I have brought several people here now and every time we have a wonderful experience with friends saying they loved it. A definite hit!
Tasca is the best restaurant in the neighborhood! We are huge fans of the food and service, so much so that we hosted our engagement party for 50 guests in the downstairs area. Norisa and Jay, the owners, are incredible people and were a joy to work with as we planned the party. The menu was outstanding and our guests are still RAVING about the food six months later. The wine cellar space is beautiful and has a sound system, projector, and screen that are easy to connect to (we used them to host a karaoke party). I highly recommend hosting an event at Tasca!
Amazing food and service, truly one of the best restaurants in NYC. My waiter was extremely prepared and the food came out very quickly, the service was exceptional specially for a full restaurant. The food was amazing, great portions and flavor- made me want to try everything! Try the octopus and the Duck, delicious food and elegant atmosphere
One of the BEST restaurants I have ever eaten at. Food was exquisite for a vegetarian like me and a food adventurer like my partner.Servers were waiting all over where your dirty plates and table are cleaned right away and requests are answered right away. This is true fine dining. Our server knew the menu inside out and his recommendations were spot on. It was quite the romantic night with my partner.
Tasca is truly one of the best restaurants on the Upper West Side. The people, food, drinks, and ambiance are each amazing. Their new happy hour is lovely, and at $9 for everything, it’s one of the better deals in the area for the quality of the food and cocktails. Try the grilled octopus and empanadas
Review from December visitFantastic establishment! My party and I made same day brunch reservations without much expectations. We were very impressed! We started off with the croquetas de calamar and albondigas, followed by the steak and eggs, setas y ambas (organic wild mushrooms with shrimp), and huevos gitanos as entrees, and ending with dessert (dont quite remember, but it was good!). Every dish was exceptional, tasted amazing, and the service on top was excellent. Highly recommend!Oh, and cant beat bottomless mimosas and sangria for brunch!
The highlight was the cocktails. I highly recommend the Isle of Flowers. The food was decent, we got the pulpo, croquetas, churrasco, and duck. The service was disappointing and extremely spotty. It was a busy Friday night but we had to wait nearly an hour to get our checks even after asking 3 times.
I brought my group of 16 here for a celebration dinner after checking out quite a few places and this was hands down the best choice. The attention to detail, communication, service, food & drinks all amazing. I cant say enough just go and order literally anything you wont be disappointed. There wasnt a thing anyone had and didnt like which is huge for a group that size. The grilled skirt steak with yucca fries and paella seemed to be the biggest hits at the table as was the red snapper with mofongito. We had assorted empanadas, coconut shrimp, mini crab cakes to start all great. Even though many of us thought we couldnt eat another bite we each got cute platters with a sample of each dessert and let me say we also sent those plates back clean. I still cant decide which was my favorite they were all so good. For drinks we had a few pitchers of red sangria and for cocktails we had the so we were liming both really good. Norisa was such a joy to work with. She even had custom menus to commemorate the occasion made up for everyone which was a nice touch. We will definitely be back.
Incredible experience that was unlike anything we’ve experienced on the UWS.From the ambience outside, all the way to our table; it was a non stop, Saturday night fine-dining experience. Our servers Teresa & Justin were fantastic, as was the entire team who seamlessly took exquisite care of our table all night. The filet was out of this world and the paella doesn’t get better than this on the uws. Get the cheesecake; it was unlike anything any of us have tried before - the crust being the highlight of our dinner. We’re thrilled they’ve finally opened. Get to Tasca before you can’t get a reservation...!
We went in here in March. The chatter at all the tables around us was the same, how long it was taking to get food and drinks. We waited for nearly an hour for our appetizers and eventually just gave up on our entrees. It also took a very long time to put in a drink order and we were only able to do that by flagging down our server as they rushed by. Then it took over a half hour to get the drinks. It was a very disappointing experience.
My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful meal at Tasca this week. What a beautiful restaurant!!! And they followed all covid protocols so we felt very safe. The staff were all masked and tables were spaced far apart. Our server Marco was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. There were so many great options on the menu that it was tough to choose. We started with cocktails that were refreshing and delicious. I dont remember the names, but one had tamarind in it and the other was something smoky with bourbon. Outstanding! For appetizers, we chose the setas y gambas (shrimp with wild mushrooms in a sherry brown sauce). I want the recipe for that sauce! So good. Then the flatbread which was as beautiful as it was tasty. The entrees we chose were the duck for me and the pork tenderloin for the husband. The duck was perfectly prepared and was accompanied by a sweet plantain mash with goat cheese. The pork tenderloin was extremely tender and was served over a perfectly seasoned bean purée.Though full, we had to try the tres leches for dessert. So glad we did. It was a perfect ending to a perfect meal! There are so many items on the menu that wed like to try, so we are looking forward to being frequent visitors. What a great addition to the neighborhood !!!:-))
This place is AMAZING such great food and ambience. The service is top notch, what a fantastic team of waiters. Incredible lighting to create an uplifting atmosphere, beautiful chairs and decor, plus the best bossa style music to wrap up the experience. Loved it, well come back for sure. Keep it up!
Great new addition to the UWS. Chill Ambience , Perfect Playlist , Attentive Staff! We brought our own wine. The cork fee was a reasonable $35. I literally wanted to try at least five or six things, actually there was nothing on the menu that didnt sound superb. We decided on the octopus small plate and a paella.Words cant describe it. This is a delightful fusion mix of Caribbean and Spanish cuisine, and I can say this after living in both regions. It made me miss the islands!Im going back until Ive tried every last dish!
Simply wonderful food and a terrific and unique dining room downstairs. Followed Jay from his former restaurant Don Pedro on East 96th Street. Appetizers were great. We had steak, duck and seafood paella. Just outstanding. This is a must on our dining list!!Our highest recommendation. Ellen and Sam
While the food was quite delicious and our waitress was super pleasant, the place got pretty busy on a friday night & we waited an hour & a half for our food. Our group was looking to order more drinks & dessert but decided against it as service was just taking so long. Serving sizes are quite small for the prices. Decor is honestly beautiful and the place is huge. Churrasco steak was super flavorful and tender. Octopus was a hit as well. Our thought was perhaps some of the folks serving water can be promoted to waiters / waitresses lol, our water was always full but the other staff seemed slammed!
I made a reservation WEEKSin advance. my bf and i showed up a little early (6pm) and the restaurant was nearly empty. the hostess led us past a number of tables with “reserved” placards, me thinking one of them must be our table. instead, she sat us way in the back at a tiny table by the stairs to the bathroom. this made no sense to me and i immediately knew that we were being discriminated. there were plenty of other tables and the people that were seated were not POC. the table we were seated at didn’t even have a reserved placard and this is where they put us? i was t loo tired to say anything and just wanted to have a nice dinner with my bf.the restaurant filled throughout our stay and i noticed that other POC were being seated in the back as well. our waiter barely paid any attention to us but more to other tables. he even took the order and brought out food first to a table that came way after us.the only saving grace of this place are the hardworking bussers. they were more attentive than the waiter and was very kind.will not be coming back again. food was just ok and drinks were watered down.
Excellent service, food, and cocktails. The menu had a ton of options as well as daily specials. Our server George was so helpful in making suggestions and ensuring our drinks were always full. We went with the empanadas, thousand spice duck, halibut (special), kale, and setas y gambas. We will absolutely be back again soon!
Upscale restaurant, extremely good with unique plates and flavors, i went there for a business dinner and everything was top notch, highly recommended, everything was beautiful, well presented and succulent. I particularly liked the calamari salad, the octopus and the plantains croquettes! The restaurant is also beautiful with a elegant and stylish decoration!
What a wonderful restaurant this is! Came here last night for a birthday dinner, 6 of us so we tried a variety of apps and mains and everything was delicious, perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Original menu and great options for both meat/seafood lovers and vegetarians. We were treated like VIPs by the owners (Jay and Norisa) and their awesome employees.Youll be in excellent hands with George as your server. The cocktails (esp margarita and mojito) were also tasty and refreshing. The decor is gorgeous (elegant, warm and tasteful) and this is a perfect place for a romantic dinner or a small or large group--- they can accommodate all. Highly, highly recommend.
An absolutely wonderful dining experience, through and through. Every dish, and every cocktail, was delicious. Our waiter, who I believe was named George, was kind, charming, and professional. You must try the Croquetas Maduros, which might be my new favorite dish in the city. My friends and I kept turning to each other and asking, “Why are these SO good?” The paella was cooked to perfection, and the churrasco my friend let me try melted in my mouth. If you can, give the Oceanagrapher cocktail a try as well. I can’t wait to go back!
I was extremely impressed by the quality of food and drink at Tasca while there for an event. The waitstaff were delightful as and attentive, but what really shone was the restaurant’s ability to make large batches of appetizers that remained perfect in taste and texture despite being served cocktail party style.
A truly wow place for the UWS. Incredible interior design with great food & bar program to match. Dessert was simple but on par with the best I’ve ever had in NYC. Service was genuine, not rushed at all— took the time to explain everything. Worth the ride from any part of the city. Enjoyed my first interior dining experience in quite a while.
We made reservation based on google reviews. We were promptly seated for our 7:45pm reservation. We ordered drinks while looking at the menu.Fast forward to 8:30 we are still waiting for our drink order, we are still waiting for someone to take our food order. Waiter sees our table without drinks but ask us if they were delivered and goes to check without asking for food order. 5 min later someone that looked like a manager comes to the table seeing we don’t have anything and asks if everything is ok and I at that point I tell him we are waiting for our drinks for 45 minutes already and he is like I am going to check on that, at that point I am hungry and annoyed. We never saw him again, drinks took another 10 min. We didn’t hear any apologies for the ridiculous wait time or saw effort in correcting service. People make reservations because they would like to eat at certain time. At some point we got drinks and some food, for second course we practically needed to help clean up table and ended up with one food plate over dirty one because figured no one is coming for another hour. My partner was optimistic and ordered second drink , that took about 20 minutes and him reminding server that he placed an order. Manager was aware he had new and slower server , didn’t do much to help. Had enough interaction with us to see we were not happy, didn’t even say sorry. We tipped but they deserved 0. It was all around terrible experience. Restaurant itself is beautiful, drinks are good and food is ok, service is terrible.
I must admit, I first thought many reviews here were exaggerated but...My bf and I went Saturday and must write that this place hit out of the park. All of staff were very courteous, knowledgeable and accommodating. The 2 hostesses were especially nice and funny and our server Justin was another 5 stars. The food was fantastic! We had the croquets to start (yum) and the skirt steak and the chicken. Both entrees were A-mazing! And the Alhambra Reserva was solid choice. Were looking forward to trying the rest of the menu soon :)
Went for Sunday brunch with high hopes based on the 4.7 rating. Albondigas and salad were good. Baked eggs Gitano were undercooked - whites were half clear - and not much flavor. Didnt finish it. French toast was a baguette sliced into 5-inch sections grilled whole. Crust all around, dry in the center, nearly impossible to saw through. Eventually gave up and left half of it.Must also have been understaffed. Didnt look too busy, but took 10 minutes to take our order, and several times came to our table with food for some other table.Maybe theyre still figuring out how to do brunch?
I need to change my rating for this place after coming for brunch. Our lentil soup was WAY too salty. It could have been good with the right amount of salt but this was way too much.On top of that there is pork in the soup even though it doesnt say it on the menu. My fiancée doesnt eat pork and found out by eating it... How can the restaurant not mention that on the menu? Also more generally the problem with this place is that they add pork in almost every single dish. So here you go thinking youre ordering a vegetarian or vegan item but then you end up with pork. Or maybe you just want seafood but bim here is some pork again. Like no wonder the place is almost empty for a sunday brunch when all the other restaurants are packed. Then in general the menu items are way too protein heavy. My fiancee got the crabmeat which was described as served with plantain and a bit of egg on top. She basically was served massive omelet where the crabmeat or the plantain were basically nowhere to be found. She couldnt finish because there was so much egg.And unfortunately almost all their menu items are very heavy on protein. Very little amounts of vegetables. Its too bad because the food does taste good and is pretty good quality. Also the place is very nice. But that menu... they have to make changes or I dont see them survive
We live in the neighborhood and this has become one of our fav go to restaurants! Amazing food and even more amazing service! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, especially our server Milesh who even remembered us and what we ordered the last time! Def coming back time and time again :)!

2021-12-31Fantastic is what I would use to describe this restaurant. The recommended wine and specials were not disappointing at all. I really enjoyed myself with my family and felt very comfortable with the Caribbean Latin mixed with the style of Spain itself.Everything was beyond satisfying and just a wonderful time to enjoy~

2022-02-19Excellent experience. I don’t usually do google review but I would love to write a paragraph for Tasca. Cozy atmosphere and very warm staffs, excellent service and absolutely exceptional food. We had octopus and scallop for the starters and the paella was the best I’ve ever had. They also have cheesecake to die for. I just can’t wait to come back again.

2022-02-01To call Tasca fusion cuisine, feels almost like a disservice. The blend of the different cultures into the various dishes on the menu is seamless and the taste exceeded every expectation. With a lovely ambience and service that has been genuinely unmatched at any of the restaurants we frequent in the city, this place has become our new favorite place. If the restaurant scheduling gods are on your side then Freddy will be your waiter for the evening and he will gladly help you curate the evening or dishes to your preferences. Now on to the meal:Drinks: We started off with the Empire Found (Smokey with strong tastes of chocolate and coffee which blended perfectly) and oceanographer (the best tropical punch you have ever had). Not typically a tequila fan, I tried the City of Gold, which had enough spice and citrus to make me forget it had tequila in it and it paired perfectly with a lot of the food.Appetizers: While there were a lot of great options to start we went with a comfort classic. Croquetas, both types. The croquetas de mariscos had the most consistent texture and the flavor was to die for even for people who may not be all that fond of fish. However the croquetas de maduros took the crown because it was so perfectly balanced with sweet and savory.Dinner: Tasca’s churrasco was incredible. It was a good sized portion of meat, the right amount of chimichurri and it was properly cooked. What more could you ask for.Splurge Option: if you happen to be there when they have the rare jamón ibérico, order it. Don’t think about the price, don’t think about the consequences, it is genuinely as smooth as butter.

2021-09-24I had such a great experience celebrating a friend’s birthday here. The ambiance is great for a celebration or date night. Our waiter was fantastic and suggested that their octopus (not pictured) was the best in the city; he did NOT lie. I ordered the beet salad and the scallops special. Both were delicious and beautifully plated. I also tried a friend’s churrasco… BOMB. And this marscapone cheesecake with passion fruit sorbet?! OUUUUF.

2021-11-28Tasca is the restaurant the upper west side needs. Finally some truly great dining, in a stylish space, with excellent service. The food was extremely flavorful and authentic (highly recommend the octopus). The ambience is perfect for a date night or a night with friends or family. I can’t wait to come back here!
