Torn between wanting to keep this place to myself so it doesn’t get overrun and wanting to shout their praises from the rooftops so they never go out of business. “Taste of Heaven” is exactly right, cause their food is simply divine.
Best place ive ever eaten at- im not from new york im 2 hrs away in PA and this restaurant is even better than what we have here. i’ll definitely be going back and anyone curious to try this place just should go try it and you’ll also love their food and energy.

Im writing this just as my wife and I are finishing our meals. All I can say is, May the Lord forever bless the hands that made this food! 🙌We didnt even get to take pictures. But we had 2 dinners. #1 was fried chicken with candied yams and Mac and cheese. #2 was Jack Daniels ribs with collard greens and potato salad. Both came with a piece of corn bread. The portions, great. The seasoning, great. The presentation, great. The price,, great. Customer service, great. Everything is pure QUALITY!The oxtails are made on Fridays. We are definitely coming back for that!
Some good ole soul food right here. The staff was very charismatic and personable. You can really tell that they try to connect and get to know there customers, everyone I saw that came in always received the warmest welcome from the staff like they’ve known each other for years (maybe they did). The fried chicken and fresh cut French fries (probably best fries I ever had lol) were amazing. This will definitely be a go to spot of mine whenever in Brooklyn and in need of eats.

I went here on my birthday in April, 2021 and was blown away. I got the fried chicken, mac and cheese and collards and everything was fantastic. Staff were kind and the portions were nice. Would highly recommend.
My mom and I chose to eat here because it was within walking distance of the Brooklyn Steel Factory where I was attending a concert. Upon arrival, we were a bit indecisive about what we wanted as everything on the menu sounded good. Even the smells wafting through the place were amazing. Deciding on the BBQ chicken with Mac&cheese and yams, we walked back to our vehicle to enjoy the meal. BEST DECISION we ever made. The food was delicious! On top of that, the prices were decent and the amount of food exceeded expectations. I couldnt stop telling other people in the concert line about Taste of Heaven. It truly was that amazing.
Best soul food in all of Brooklyn. The people here are always so friendly and the food absolutely delicious. I would always recommend. I just wish they close later. This place close right around dinner time (7PM) which is kind of crazy early for a restaurant and aren’t open Sunday-Monday. I would literally pay double the price for the food if the place opened into late night because I always crave their delicious yams and Mac n cheese like one in the morning 😭
A coworker recommended this restaurant to me and Im so glad I found this place. Moved from the south to Nyc earlier this year and I been hoping to find a authentic Soul food restaurant and I must say this food really made me feel like I was back home. I came kinda late in the day and they were just about sold out so I was blessed to get the last two plates. I had ribs, chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, yams, cornbread taste damn near good as my grandmas cornbread. Gracious staff, CLEAN space, generous portions. If yall want some true Southern cuisine in Brooklyn this is the spot
Chicken fell off the bone! 😮 they really put their foot in it! Everyone was ordering the lemon cake & chocolate marble cake, so I tried it out. Did not disappoint! Definitely coming back for the warm hospitality & good food ^_^

My brother and I happened upon this gem today while on a day trip from Philly. We enjoyed the fried fish, collards and baked mac & cheese. We also added a couple of pieces of jerked chicken and a sample of the jerked ribs. The food was exceptional, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I didn’t expect the portions to be so large and I didn’t leave room for the dessert; that’s made on location. I ended up ordering some turkey wings, sides and dessert to go. They even have several flavors of Kool-Aid, talk about classic soul food. You won’t regret visiting the Taste of Heaven.

Delicious, flavorful, and filling, and for a great value. It’s the best place to go for dinner if you’re going to a concert nearby but it’s also a destination in its own right. Lunch or dinner, they make it. I ordered BBQ chicken and BBQ ribs, along with Mac-n-Cheese, collard greens and potato salad. All of them tasted amazing. Service is quick and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

I went here expecting good food at cheap prices, but the kindness of the employees outshone even their fall-off-the-bone BBQ jerk chicken. After ordering, they gave me a water for free and when my friend went back in to get his own meal, the server wouldn’t let him pay for it and included another free water. This place truly feels like a friend is cooking for you.
The BEST soul food I have ever tasted. My brother and I ate here the other day, and the food here blows all of these other soul food restaurants out of the water! Its not even close. My family is from the south and very picky when it comes to soul food, so when I say that they have the best food, I am not kidding.

I went to Taste of Heaven for the 1st time last week and the food was just as amazing as the staff/owners! I came all the way to Brooklyn from Eastern Connecticut to try them and they didnt disappoint. Everyone was friendly and extremely helpful. I would return simply based off of the hospitality even if the food was just ok, but the food delicious!!! I tried all 3 flavors of their turkey wings and their chicken and shrimp and everything was seasoned perfectly. This is the best soul food Ive had since leaving the south! I will definitely be making that trip again! Well worth it!

A little Hole in the Wall, but the food was excellent. Turkey wings, absolutely the best. Two little tables outside, otherwise all takeout. If u want platters, call day before. Enjoy!

Wow. I had it for the first time last week and honestly one of the best Jerk Chicken meals Ive had before. I am sure their other food is made with just as much love and will definitely be going back to try more! And to add the icing on the cake owners not just only cook good food but spread love. I’ve been to taste of heaven a total of 3x so far. All three times I’ve been to the restaurant they’ve kept the same energy. The staff gives a warm welcome and greets you when you first come in. They go over the food they have with you and ask if you need a minute to decide. I originally found taste of heaven by searching for caterer for my baby shower. The 1st time I walked into the restaurant I was greeted by the smell of food that made my mouth water. The food was so good I decided that day we will be using them for our shower after all. Fast forward a few weeks later I came to pick up the food for the shower and everything was nicely packed, they helped me load my vehicle with the food as well. When I arrived they were just finishing my order which was great to know the food was cooked fresh. Everyone at the shower enjoyed the food and ate so much I only was able to get 1 plate sadly lol but I had a idea that would happen. I will definitely be back to taste of heaven in the future and will try to make monthly trips not only because of the food but the staff. They give you a warm welcome and y’all to you as if you’re family. If that’s not soulful then I don’t know what is. Thanks again!!!

I love the Jerk chicken dinner with yams and the green beans. No this chicken is not that dry stuff you get everywhere. This stuff is delicious made slow and falls right off the bone. Had the chicken dinner with mac and cheese and seasoned rice tonight, and it was excellent!! The chicken was so flavorful, and not at all dry. The rice was well seasoned on its own, but the chicken gave it even more flavor. I look forward to trying more dishes! Highly recommend!!
I have been looking for a place to get good southern soul food from since I moved from Houston. This is it! I ordered the fish, mac n cheese, and cabbage and let me tell you, the first bite, I literally said, Oh my God out loud. The customer service was fantastic and they were more than helpful. The price is incredibly reasonable for a large entree and two sides. Worth the travel time and every penny. I will be back next week. :-)

Im born and raised in Mississippi and I usually have to cook my own soul food. My boyfriend brought me a plate of this and it was bussin. Please eat the macaroni and cheese, the ribs, and the cornbread.
Nice people. First time eating here. Good value for the dollar. Lots of great veggie options along with meat options. My wife liked their cheesecake. I appreciated the fact that they dont kill all their food with salt. Only thing we really didnt like were the made to order, fresh cut French fries. They were so greasy, not crispy at all and absolutely no salt. Tried most of their meats. Turkey leg good. Ribs good. Jerk chicken very good. My wife didnt like the greens. Some thought the Mac and cheese was a bit too peppery. Cabbage was fabulous! Mixed veggies okay. Green beans good. Would definitely eat here again if in the area and in the mood for some good home cooking.

The ambiance isnt the primary focus however the food is. This Black owned restaurant makes dinning out feel good. Every item has its own distinctive taste making eating much more enjoyable. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is superb. Please arrive or call early because the food goes fast. Its totally work it.

I goggled this restaurant and boy did I enjoy it. The food was delicious! I met Heavenly she was very welcoming she was the youngest of her siblings so the restaurant is named after her. She waited on me and gave me plenty of food. If you say you were still hungry. Then we no you are lying. I got 2 slices of cakes for 5.00. Im from Atlanta Ga. I will definitely be back.

Five stars? Absolutely!!! Do yourself a favor and make a trip to this amazing little gem. I had the best, most deliciously amazing Jerk Chicken. It was tender, moist and full of flavor. The Red Beans and Rice were delicious too! My son had the Curry Chicken and a side of Greens - We were arguing over whos was better because we both loved our meals so much. And... it doesnt stop at the food... the people are extremely kind, friendly and accomodating. This place is an absolute home run. If you are a fan of the southern style meat and two (or three) sides this is definitely the place for you!

Had to be in the area for work and found taste of heaven, the name says everything. The chicken bbq wings are addictive, ribs and chicken breast where the meat just slides off the bone. Dont get me started on how great the sides are (yams, rice , pasta, ect) topped off with warm cornbread that melts in your mouth and soul. Last but not least the service made me feel like I was part of the neighborhood and a friend that hasnt been any to visit in a long time. Thank you for a great meal . Despite not being able to dine in this wonderful lilspot, due to the covid 19, this place is Blessed with a Beautiful staff & truly amazing food that gets the tastebuds dancing around like kids on caffeine. I recommend this spot to anyone thats not a fan of southern food, because theyll most definitely change their tune once they give this place a chance.

We stumbled upon this place when we were craving some delicious soul food. And Taste of Heaven is the perfect name for what we walked into. To start, the owners were incredibly freindly and hospitable. They showed us every menu item they had to serve. I enjoyed the juicest, fall off the bone bbq chicken and some of the best mac n cheese Ive ever had. The rice and beans were delicious too. My girlfriend had the freshest fried chicken that Ive ever eaten. This was what I hope Heaven tastes like. And to top it off, we had the sweetest banana pudding cake. I cant wait to go back some day.

I got the Jerk ribs & Jerk chicken. The Jerk ribs was so tender they were gonna fall off the bone which was great. Unfortunately there was only 2 lousy piece of ribs. No room for sharing or getting full from it. I guess the large quantity of rice with no sauce was supposed to fill me up. The jerk chicken was decent but nothing to go crazy about. The Strawberry cake was great and loved it had real strawberries. It didnt create the memory I thought Id have in my mind.

My favorite Dish is the Jack Daniel Ribs, Mac &Cheese and Collard Greens/cabbage . Ohhh and I cant forget about the Kool-Aid (reminds me of my childhood) !Job well done Sweets and Boss Lady! 😉
Food tasted great. I dont like that you dont get the 2 piece of plantains when you order certain things. Otherwise it was ok. Appropriate prices, and cleanliness on point.
They Have Breakfast Now....I Love Their Fish With Collard Greens, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Yams, Cornbread With Potato Salad... Their Jerk Chicken Is Great With Cabbage, Rice (My Favorite Dish).... I Still Will Order Other Dishes Even If My Favorites Are Not Unavailable... The Baked Chicken Is Great And The BBQ Beef Short Ribs Are Amazing....

Everything tastes good...wish they gave larger pieces of corn bread...they put lots of food on your plate and give you a small piece of corn bread... the food is great especially the collard greens but a small piece of corn bread😊

2022-02-08Had food catered by Taste of Heaven for a fellow co-worker’s retirement party. The food tasted amazing. Like finger-licking good. When I came to pick up the food, the food was fresh, hot and well packaged. Melody provided great customer service and answered all our questions. A taste of this restaurant’s food and you will experience heaven! 10/10. Totally recommend, I’ll definitely return.

2022-05-13I mean, this place is last meal status. I have a growing love affair with their ribs, which are immaculately seasoned (jack daniels especially good) and slip right off the bone. Collards are so rich and savory, salmon is not even on the same continent as the words over cooked, rice is explosively flavorful.Also, the family that owns it is so friendly. They are such kind people who really care about feeding people well. The love is in the food.Do yourself a favor and eat there.

2022-02-14Down home cooking and caring friendly staff. The rice, candied yams and green beans were excellent. You can taste the love! My great grandma passed away and I miss her cooking dearly. This gave me that old feeling of being taken care of and Child, eat your vegetables...just like the sign says a taste of heaven!!!!

2022-03-24I have never felt more welcome and looked after in a restaurant. We came in just before closing (sorry) but the owner/head chef bent over backwards to look after us, to give us what we wanted, and to make us feel at home (even though we were only getting takeout!).As a visitor to Brooklyn, this was my highlight - a moment of real human connection, and the food is indescribably good.The only regret of my trip was that I didnt have a chance to visit Taste of Heaven more than once.
