One of the best meals I’ve had in a while! The creme brûlée could solve all of your problems. Also very open to gluten free, as a note the temple court and bar room are two different places although side by side. The temple court doesn’t have marked GF items (the bar room menu does) but the servers are knowledgeable and the “obvious” items you should stay away from for any celiac/gluten sensitive. In the bar room look up! You can see he inside of the hotel all the way up. The picture doesn’t do it justice but it’s quite cool inside. Will definitely be back !!
My first time here on a Saturday at 5PM, I did not sit at the bar. The vibe here is chilled. Comes off a bit swanky, a bit snobby, but the folks that work here were friendly and patient. The interior lends itself to something from the 50s but thats the whole motif for the hotel within which the bar resides. I didnt try any food but from what I saw, it looked good. The Bar Room kind of reminds me of Nomad but not as crowded given these COVID times. Things picked up by six though.G Taylor, a Glenmorangie whiskey drink, was good and ginger - any red head would love it. I was curious about their other signatures but got a Paper Plane and was pleasantly surprised at how well they masked the alcohol.
What a fantastic dinner we had here. We were staying here for the night, honestly mostly because we heard Tom Colicchios restaurant was onsite. Temple Court has a wonderfully balanced menu, there is something for everyone here. Pictured here was the Mushroom A La Creque appetizer that was good enough to be a main course. Very nice, we ate way too much, the service was top notch, and we loved every minute.
We recently hosted our wedding dinner at Temple Court and it was stunning. Not only does the room feel so magical and inviting, but the staff made us (and our guests) feel so special. They made sure we had everything we needed, service was so prompt and even guests with special asks were taken care of quickly. And lets talk about the food - AMAZING. Our guests enjoyed the chestnut soup, the halibut or lamb and ended the night with a chocolate dessert of your dreams. We cant wait to eat there again soon! (photos by Sarah Sayeed Photography)
I was very excited to try this restaurant however the excitement diminished as the food came. Although there were some winners that got served the majority were less than thrilling. The space is beautiful and sitting in the midst of downtown 1mon the 11thbstory terrace is amazing. However at $380 (tasting with wine flight) it was very disappointing.Duck: as you can see from the pic it was overcooked by traditional (and my) standards. Thobthe flavor was good and it was tender it missedFoie Gras: had some sort of sweet jam like topping and the was served cold making the foie gras hard and difficult to spread. The temp made it not feel like that rich luxurious mouth feel it is supposed to be. The toasted brioche bun was buttery and great.Pork Cheeks: was extremely tasty and a great dish, I just wish there were more than 2 small cheeks on the dishSmores: although the flavor of all the components were perfect I am not sure that the pastry chef ever tried this dish as it was served. 1 giant marshmallow to roast and some how put portions of it on the Graham cracker which has a chocolate mousse on both sides is clunky and messy. I would have preferred the marshmallow sliced on each individual cracker and torched table side.
I had my birthday dinner here tonight and the staff made everything feel much more special. By graciously offering to take pictures for us and letting us take our time and enjoy our night out. The food was spectacular. I would like to mention both choices of scallop tartare and lobster on the pre-fixe was absolutely delightful.
My wife and I had an excellent dinner on the rooftop here. The setting is beautiful, our wait staff was helpful and attentive. The offering on the roof is a three course prefix menu. My wife is a vegetarian and the more then happy to accommodate her with their prefix options. We added the optional wine pairing, three glasses, one with each course. I had a octopus starter with a cod main course and millefeuille dessert. Every thing was delicious! All and all a great spot.
The restaurant is beautiful… And I might enjoy the tavern instead of the dining room in the future… Offerings were a bit sparse… My chicken was OK but nothing spectacular… Our waiter was a bit snippy with us for no apparent reason… I had eaten at Gramercy Tavern the evening before and it was a dropdead culinary delight. If not for the atmosphere this would not be a special place to eat… And I won’t return
Overall, we had a great experience. We enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly stuff and food.We had four course dinner with wine pairing.Pre courses appetizer:It was yummy tortellini and I think it was filled with smoked crab.First course: Picked Scallop Tartare & Foie Gras MousseFoie gras was good and I liked having fatty foie gras with citrusy jelly and freshly baked brioche. Scallop was really refreshing and I loved the sauce.Second course: Picked Glazed Lobster & Carbonara White AsparagusI liked the idea of slicing white asparagus looks like Fettuccine and make carbonara with it. It was bit salty but they cooked asparagus perfectly. I love coconut milk and I really enjoyed Lobster with coconut broth. You need to pay additional for Lobster but I recommend to do:) We did not get Chestnut soup but we love to get that next time. People were toasting marshmallow at the table and it looked fun!Third Course: Picked Pekin Duck & Lamb ShankI wanna eat their duck again... meat was juicy and flavorful. Fingerling yams were surprisingly sweet (I have sweet tooth, I liked it). Lamb shank was fulfilling and had a good smokey flavor.Dessert Course: Picked Lemon Tart & Chocolate Mousse CakeBetween those two, I enjoyed lemon tart more than Chocolate cake. It was just because espresso flavor was bit strong for me.Drinks:We added wine pairing but we felt we should have could ordered drinks we like. It was so much food and drinks in the end. You can have the same drinks at the bar and 10th floor restaurant.
We stayed at the Beekman for four nights and had several different experiences at Temple Court Bar - which for some reason doesn’t have it’s own page for reviews. This 3 star rating is primarily because of the bartenders and service at the bar when we returned from evenings out. Here is more about each experience:1. We were sat next to the Edgar Alan Poe portrait in the bar room for dinner. Lovely. A great place to people watch. We ordered:* the “east coast” oysters - $25 for 6 enormous sloppy oysters. I have not had oysters this large from the east coast. Would appreciate if the menu listed where the oysters were from because they were not from MD, VA, PEI or likely even NY. They were not cleaned well, either. Would not recommend.* the duck liver patè - by far the best thing we ate during any experience at TCB. Very lovely flavors, a large portion and only served with 1.5 slices of grilled bread.* the Brussels sprouts salad - was good; i make almost an identical one at home.* duck confit ravioli - was good, the olives made the flavors pop. Felt like there was something “missing” tho.The service was bad. Once we were seated and had cocktails, it was super hit or miss. There are many staff members wandering around the room apparently watching but not doing anything helpful. We asked the back waiter for more bread for they pâté - it never came. When our server finally came back like 10-15 minutes later, we were able to order it from her. When we were finished eating, the back waiter took the plates. Then we sat with a clear table and empty glasses in front of us for another 15 minutes before the server came back. I get that she was busy but the manager or host or whoever that was sharking around the room could have helped her out. It was quite clear we were done. This was my fist time at a Tom Coliccio establishment and i was underwhelmed.2 - the next morning we had breakfast there. We were sat very quickly. the server came up, was very forward / almost aggressive about what we want to order - and that’s how she said it. “What do you want?” Then before we even had a chance to look at the menu she started recommending things. I ordered the omelet at her recommendation. The $6 drip coffee was like brown water - super weak, and we were never offered refills. The omelet was delish, i will say that. But we sat there waiting for the check for 15 minutes after our table was cleared. No coffee, no water, no plates in front of us. Just sitting there… We thought we were being pranked. How is service like this at a Tom Coliccio restaurant??3 - came for drinks at the bar at 11pm-ish on Friday. A great experience. Friendly bartenders and nice pours on the wine. Made an excellent NY Sour for my sister.4 - breakfast again. Saturday. We were prepared. The service was better; we ordered espresso drinks. I had the classic breakfast - $27 for two eggs, a slice of toast, and some bacon. Laughable that it’s the most expensive menu item, but i did enjoy it. What’s not to like? My sister had the breakfast sandwich and wanted bacon but the server told her the sausage was a special sausage for the day and she really recommended it. That sausage was garbage. It looked and tasted like spam. My sister ended up taking it off and eating half my bacon. At least we didn’t wait for 15 minutes for the check this time.5 - another PM bar visit, another great experience. I had two Negronis, sister had a couple bourbon cocktails. Again good service.Overall I’m left a little confounded. The dining experience at TCB left a lot to be desired. The table service needs a lot of attention. Managers and other staff should be helpful, not just standing around staring. Expected more from both the service and the food at a Tom Coliccio restaurant.
Totally disappointed. The food moved the needle up from zero. Had an expensive meal in the bar ateium area for a special milestone birthday. The vibe was off from the moment we entered. No real warmth to our greeting but at least we gor a nice table. We were seated and no one came to see how we were doing or if we wanted any drinks for over 20 mins. The server finally came by and asked if we wanted to order. I had to ask if there were specials. Our server was cold, aloof and condescending all at the same time. Basic service, no smiles, no personality at all. He came by again mid-meal to finally replace the carafe of water and didn’t even ask how the food was, did ask if we wanted anything etc. It was like we were his worst enemies and he barely made eye contacrt. Another server took over and really wasn’t that much better. He stood by our table, holding our coffee but wouldn’t talk or put it down for a couple of minutes. So strange. When we were done, the host watched us leave and didn’t say a word. No one said thank you or goodbye. Service was rude and totally marred the entire experience. For a $300 meal, I would expect better service. Food was fine and rhe setting was lovely but neither could make up for how bummed we were by the unfriendly service. Totally regretted going. With all of the incredible options available in the city, I’m sorry we wasted our time and our special occasion on this one
Honestly one of the worst culinary experiences of my life. The waiter was so condescending and rude. Our waiter made a mistake with a drink, one which we did not even attempt to recieve compensation for but simply order again, and he wrongfully blamed it on us. When we tried to explain the error, he got defensive and argued with us for about 10 minutes. Of course after such an uncomfortable exchange we no longer wanted to remain at our table. To be forward, this waiter ruined our night. Making a mistake is one thing, but being rude to customers is unacceptable. We expect better from what is supposed to be an upscale establishment.
Lobster/oyster stew/fois gras appetizers were amazing, astounding. chicken/ rabbit mains perfect, unusual extraordinary flavor. Salmon, was lovely, if a bit salty. Scallops way too salty and sweet. with a strange aftertaste, I love gently cooked, but these were undercooked. frankly, I should have sent them back, but everything else was so great.
Doing a lunch meetup with my girlfriends near work, she went to the restaurant next door saw this place and recommended. Great choice of this place, great food with the prices & services provided. $32 for 2 course lunch or $39 for 3 course lunch. They have a great selection to choose. Three of us and picked 3 appetizers, 3 entrees & 3 desserts to share. The food are delicious and great atmosphere for meetup or business meeting.
A nice calm rustic atmosphere with great art and in detail to the hotel which makes it even more interesting. The bathroom is skirt like a maze makes it adventurous. The book shelf is also another highlight point. With the cocktails Oxacan old fashioned, their lux Sakura and their Coco Old Fashioned and they are amazing. The luxury cocktail Sakura really stood out with a well balanced taste with a semi sweet dry cherry taste. I had the lamb ravioli really to die for and the black truffle waygu with mini potato wedges well seasoned with oil and garnished. Would definitely go back again
We were there for our anniversary and I want to thank the staff for making it special. We got a special menu that was signed by Tom and the staff! The food was also amazing. The octopus was cooked perfectly, the steak was unbelievable, the scallops were cooked evenly, and the pork belly melted in my mouth. The food was well seasoned but not over seasoned. It was a memorable experience overall. The watermelon sorbet with jalapeno peppers and sea salt doesnt sound like it should work and it was interesting. It was my fav but it was still an explosion in my mouth. Please try the food here for a culinary adventure. Also dont forget to check out the atrium. Its pretty cool.
We came here for lunch during restaurant week. Overall, it was a nice meal but we werent blown away. The dishes had potential but the execution was shy of excellence. Particularly, I found me food overly salty. The service met expectation. All the of us look pretty young but we didnt feel like we were being treated like kids.
This review is long over due (pre-covid). After getting married at City Hall we decided to have a small family dinner at Temple Court to celebrate (which turned into 15+ people) and stay at the Beekman Hotel before leaving on our honeymoon. There are not enough adjectives to describe the excellent service and experience the staff at Temple Court and The Beekman provided on our special day. The menu which Temple Court had to prepare specific due to the size of our party was beyond delicious and unique. Even my very picky mother-in-law ate every morsel!! The cocktail and wine menus are amazing. The best dinner I have ever had! We cant thank the staff at Temple Court and The Beekman enough for their exceptional service. They truly went above and beyond our expectations. We will be back to both Temple Court and The Beekman to celebrate future anniversaries. Please make note we dined at Temple Court and stayed as guest overnight at the Beekman. Our stay was on a weekday and very low traffic day. We were able to take amazing photos while respecting the other guests and hotel policies. Both the hotel and restaurant make the rules easy to follow.Thank you so much Temple Court and The Beekman!! Cant wait to dine and stay again!!
Wonderful dinner experience set in a beautiful restaurant interior that evokes a past era. The service was attentive and the all the dishes were beautifully and nicely prepared. No detail was left unconsidered and there were certainly touches that reinforced the historical feel. Was pleasantly surprised how anjoyably comfortable it is next to the noisy bar. Would definitely consider coming back again for a non-Restaurant Week experience!
Our third time breakfasting at the Temple Court, and everything was good. Excellent service, adequate menu choices, and delicious food. This time around, we ordered a CROQUE MADAME, and we fully enjoyed it, just the right portion size and seasonal ingredients. We would most certainly recommend the Temple Court.
What a lovely meal. Hands down one of the best weve had in FiDi. Everything exceeded expectations. We came here celebrating our anniversary. For appetizer we had the hamachi crudo, pork terrine, lamb garganelli (must order!). Entree we shared hot smoke king salmon (devine) and dry aged ny strip. Everything was so delicious and portion was quite big. Exceptional service as well.Highly recommend the garganelli and king salmon, would probably skip the steak next time.It was very well priced for a fine dining place.Would definitely come back again.
We went here for the Jazz Brunch on a Sunday. The space is amazing with period decor. One slight snag are the sofa seats that you sit on. Theyre a little low for the table, but comfy, they would have been better to use normal height seats or a lower height table. The music wasnt overwhelming and you could have a decent conversation, due to the fact the dining area is at the bottom of a very tall atrium. We had some donut holes with jam as a starter, they were yummy. Though I still like Riverparks version more, cant beat chocolate sauce! My main course was skate on a bed of spinach, which was nicely cooked, but was overpriced for the portion size. Other main dishes were more sensibly priced and portioned. For dessert I shared a baked Alaska, which was very good.Overall, a good experience.
It’s a very intimate place with live jazz music on Sunday during the brunch. They have a very upscale design and furniture. The meals are large, but you pay for the interior and more space between tables. Brunch menu has a lot of egg based meals. The steak comes in a form of burger.
Truly impressive restaurant situated at the base floor of the Beekman hotel in downtown Manhattan, in an iconic building which was one of the first to be designed with a fire-proof concept. Chef Colicchio blends egregiously his Italian roots with his American upbringing, presenting a selection of creative dishes that are both rich in flavor and seductive in visual appearance. The wine selection includes numerous choices from both the old and the new world. Service is top notch and the ambience really impressive and ideal for small, intimate parties, with the bar room shrouded by book shelves and the smaller dining room sorrounded by colored-glass panels covering the original brick walls. A true iconic destination for those who seek a postcard-like New York experience
Wonderful, fantastic, an escape from our current situation.I feel like the experience of dining at Temple Court would have been great regardless, but they get extra points on top of that for pulling it off brilliantly during a pandemic.Food was really good (though some dishes better than others), service outstanding, ambiance was excellent. They managed to make distancing effortless and really pleasant.Im torn between highly recommending a visit, and telling people to absolutely not go so I can eventually find another reservation here. It was worth it.
Great vibe. Beautiful space. There on a Saturday morning, had a great jazz brunch going. Started with The Sparrow, delicious cocktail of st Germain, cognac, and bubbly. Switched to Rose after that. Eggs Benedict were solid, good bacon on the side. Peers had the steak on brioche, also yum. Definitely worth the visit, would probably book a room here next trip
Omg!! I had my eye on this place for a while and it wasn’t until a friend’s birthday that I actually got to go!The venue is hauntingly beautiful with a larger than life Poe portrait glaring at you all night. The drinks taste like absolute magic potions and the deserts are delectable. Perfect ambiance if you’re REALLY trying to impress a date. Highly recommend.
The vagaries of outdoor eating notwithstanding, this restaurant is a delight. The service is friendly and spot-on, the menu is summer fresh, and the effort to make this rooftop an oasis is noteworthy. I would have preferred a cloudy day, but the lobster salad and chicken shawarma made up for the light sunstroke. Good job with a tough situation!
My absolute favorite in the neighborhood, probably in the entire city. The ambience is comforting and exciting at the same time. The architecture and aesthetics become conversation starters. Their cocktails are impeccable. I prefer their brunch menu with that delectable banana bread. For a light after-work grub this week, we were surprised by how sumptuous the hummus plate was. They used to have jazz performances on Sundays, pre-Covid. Overall, a gem.
A birthday dinner included the oyster appetizers , lobster fettuccine (one other dish I can’t recall 🙈) and a recommended bottle of red! The venue is just stunning, with the tufted leather chairs, book cases, and gorgeous views up to the glass roof. The service was the issue - the staff were very pushy to get us to order and leave; when there were plenty of open tables available. We weren’t even given flexibility to order a dessert for the birthday person. That was such offputting service!
Absolutely beautiful place. Service is attentive and well executed. Some of the food was tasty and spot on. But...One app that came out was frozen in the center (they happily replaced it with a different app) A fish dish was very over salted, even for someone who loves salt. (they at least did ask why most of the fish which was a main was left behind).Id probably come back for a drink in the gorgeous bar, but as far as the food was concerned, not so much.
Really nice ambiance. Beautiful hotel. Reduced a star because the drinks weren’t that good for the price - heavy on the mix. And the food was over seasoned. Still good just not as high end as the price but still a good place for after work drinks. Very convenient to a lot of offices.
This was my first time at Temple Court and I will definitely return. The mussels with lime and keffir were exquisite and the skate just melted in my mouth. Our server, Kyle, was extremely attentive and helpful. Did I mention the beautiful old world ambiance? A wonderful experience all around.
I must say they have good service. The moment I stood up and looked around for restroom, the waiter immediately asked me “are you looking for restroom?” and showed me where it was (It was in the maze room!. Also when they saw us wearing basketball team T-shirt, they asked whether we wanted the food to be served ASAP. Good observations guys! First the appetizers were special and tasty. Then the entrée were light but delicious. However, the desserts were too sweet. No wonder they do not need big appetizer and entrée to fill up your stomach, cuz the dessert does.
All good - food, drinks, service. Just wish they were more transparent about tips. They are adding 10% Covid-19 surtax plus taxes and the traditional 20% on top of all that. We are all struggling in this crisis. Adding the surtax is okay. I mean, we understand. But adding the tip on the top of taxes + surtax is a bit too much. You have nice bar and don’t need to use those “tier 2” tricks for few extra bucks.
The bar space is super cool and comfortable. Im not sure if it was because I was by myself at a busy time, but the service was not good. Ordered food and a drink from a table in the bar. Food came and waited for 10 minutes and finally had to ask a second time for the drink. The woman that took my order never came back, and a different person seemed to take over. Was tough getting attention of wait staff to order a second drink. But definitely a sweet design and vibe to the place.Update: since Im staying at the hotel I went back and this time went to the restaurant section for breakfast. Super delicious breakfast. But sadly, the service again was not the best. Had to try to track someone down to get a coffee refill and water refill. The space on the restaurant side is really beautiful and well done.
My partner and I came here for our 1 year anniversary at the beginning of August. Our waiter was SO KIND and nice. He was seriously the best and made our experience so memorable. The food was amazing but being treated so kindly was truly the highlight of the night. He took some photos of us that I’ll cherish forever. Thank you so much.
Fantastic service in a romantic setting. The eggs Benedict (with white fish) was unique and perfectly prepared. Two very minor issues were that my cappuccino was more of a latte and the fruit bowl included some sort of topping I would have preferred to have been aware of before ordering.
Lovely & beautiful set-up, but we were so disappointed by the food we had last night... everything was off, bad bread & butter, our appetizers were overly l’as-tu with old bread croutons & my short ribs was dryer than anything. We didn’t not eat:( our bill was over $400 for 2 ... so disappointing-
I want to give it 10 stars. Impeccably stylish. Food and service are excellent. Each plate is a wow moment. Definitely choose it for special occasions or simply treat yourself. Be ready, its also pricey $$$$$ but worth it. Tip: make reservations in advance. Dress code is at least Smart casual.
Look up and lose yourself in history. Yes thats what you could do when you get there. room is in one of the iconic building in NYC. They have roomy sections, they could accommodate 10 of us in the same area so we could do a small after work hours gathering. Although it was packed it was not as noisy. Its a cool place to go.
An experience you must try. The staff, the food, the ambiance, and the cocktails were all perfect.Their pre-fixe 4 course menu on paper made me think I was going to have to hit a greasy spoon joint afterwards, but it was timed and portioned perfectly. The $$$$ is accurate but the experience is definitely worth the money. We went for my wifes recent birthday and the entire staff made us feel welcome. Jose, our waiter, made sure we enjoyed ourselves and was very knowledgeable about the menu selection and company history.
Fabulous 4 course meal outside on the western terrace that has been transformed into a wisteria wonderland. The beet starter is the best beet dish Ive EVER eaten...and I eat a lot of beets! Octopus capacious rocked! Honeynut squash soup slayed..toasted hazelnuts were a lovely surprise as was the truffle. The braised short rib was perfect. Had a bit of a hiccup with the cod but it was quickly remedied to perfection.. Ive never had yogurt cheesecake but I am now a fan! Thank you chef Colicchio😘😘
The room is beautiful, but the service is awful. We arrived at 9 for breakfast. We didnt get food until 11! When it came, it wasnt correct. Even drip coffee took 45 minutes. We conversed with the waitress multiple times and while she was nice, she couldnt help. We even asked for a manager, and no one came. Overall, the experience was terrible! So many better option s.
Superior ambiance and decoration from the floor to the ceiling. The entrance is pleasantly scented with, according to staff, a proprietary fragrance. Lighting is fairly dim. The bathroom feels as if its a rustic wine cellar. The tables are strong and firm. The seating is spacious to the thin, and accomodating to the more voluminous.Excellent food. Every dish Ive tried has been cooked, spiced, and presented just right. Staff is friendly and generally non-intrusive. Almost everything here is of the highest caliber.Great place for an upscale dinner with a coworker, old friend, or long time date. Ive come here multiple times, however I have yet to return with the intent/budget to go all out at once with their tasting menu.My only issue has been that the hostess clearly treated me differently after declining coat check. (Im not saying Temple Court does this, however restaurants seem to bumble and abuse fine coats only to expect tips).Either way, this place has been outstanding since their Fowler and Wells days. Definitely recommended!
Ive attended several events at The Beekman, serviced by the staff from Temple Court. The rooftop is a divine spot for events, even if we are only able to do small gatherings currently. The staff and the food are impeccable and always creative. I also love the brick basement where the event spaces look like prohibition speak easies. I cant wait to attend an affair here again!
The hostess was so incredible rude and vulgar. She told us a 20 minute wait. After waiting 30 i politely asked her how much longer and she was extremely rude. Told us she had no idea how long it would be and made it clear we should not wait. Horrible service and will never go back here again.
Extremely rude service was provided to me and my partner from management. From someone coming out of state, apparently there was a “law” in place stating that food was required to dine but was never publicly posted after we decided to stop there for drinks. Service was extremely poor. I would be very careful before checking this place out. With all the places in NYC, def. cross this one off your list. I def DO NOT recommend.
Does this double as a palate rejuvenation center? Where they take a heavy dose of salt and burn your mouth with it with hopes of coming back with an awakening of new flavors? Contrary to popular belief, I dont enjoy eating what seemed like a salt gobstopper for $500+. My appetizers were lovely. Showed no sign of what was to come. My wine was exquisite. But I would be remiss not to mention that I waited an hour+ for a table that was supposed to take 20-30min. Then I had to hunt for someone to get me a menu, then take my order. And was given a wrong menu. So essentially I waited what seemed like an eternity to have what I legit say was one of the worst dishes of my life. Before you go on thinking this was a one time occurrence, the same result was for my dinner guest. She ordered scallops to my pork chop.My server was great when I finally was able to get some attention. It was my third time here and I can confidently say I wont be back. Ill take myI hope someone from the restaurant actually reads this and lets the chef know that they killed our dishes. RIP dishes. And RIP my mouth because this morning I feel like someone scraped my tongue with a chefs knife and stuffed my mouth with cotton balls. I want my tongue back
Ill start by saying the food was delicious and absolutely 5 stars. It was a great mix of very tender flavors and very reasonable portions.I came here on the first day of restaurant week so perhaps that was the reason the service was a little rough - possibly they were unprepared for the amount of people. However its not their first time so that isnt a great excuse. Waited 45 minutes for my table - though I was comped with a glass of prosecco. The staff was a little forgetful, with my bread and also with a second round of drinks. The menu also had a typing error. The decor inside is absolutely beautiful, and its a dramatic view. Great for drinks, and definitely worth a visit.
Great food in beautiful surroundings. I had the pleasure of dining three times at this restaurant while staying at the Beekman Hotel and each time was a fantastic experience. I want to mention the wild salmon with a perfect Hollandaise sauce here. The wine list is extensive with some reasonably priced wines available. You can also rely on the knowledgeable wine captain for food and wine pairing. The service is swift and efficient.
Wanted to try this newish restaurant in the stunning Beekman Hotel for a birthday brunch. The Atrium of the hotel is beautiful by the way for casual cocktail and drinks. The casual but classy restaurant was the perfect ambiance for the birthday girl. Our server was cordial and attentive. The brunch menu looked delicious. Everything came out perfectly plated and water always refilled when needed. There wasnt much to complain really. I felt the portions was just right. Service was as expected for this type of restaurant. Im looking forward to trying the restaurant across the hall.
One of the best bars in NYC!Love this place for amazing quality drinks, nice atmosphere and great location. Can we quite busy at times so try to get a reservation. Great place to bring a date as it is fancy but not not over the top. Ask them about history of the place, they will give you a little book that you can read and keep as a souvenir.
Good brunch but the hours were weird we had to wait at the table until noon for the brunch menu which seemed idiotic for Sunday in NYC.Nice spot for supper. They have a late night menu in the very beautiful bar area and comfy tables. It seemed all the available tables had reserved signs on them at 10pm on a Sunday night which seems improbable, but they sat is right away. They serve a nice cheese platter. The fried artichokes were delicious.
Fabulous food, beautiful decor, mediocre wines and sub par service. Had to wait an hour to order and 45 minutes just for bread. The food was sublime and everyone at our table loved their meal. But they should improve their service and esp their wines by the glass. Reason why the 4stars not 5.
Went for lunch. The tuna was fresh and tasty but not special. The gnudi was excellent but a little heavy if i eat the whole thing. for entrees, my husband got the wagu chopped steak and was delicious. I got the skate. Perfectly cooked but a little salty. Nicely balanced w/ spinach underneath. The decor and ambiance was nice, like a library almost. The service was the worst part of our lunch. It was very slow. We were going to order desert but our waiter never came so when he finally showed up, we just got the check.
This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant inside the Beekman Hotel in Downtown Manhattan - the decor oozes old school New York charm. The food, however, was a bit of a letdown. My wife and I came for restaurant week lunch and the food looked better on the menu than in reality. For example, I got a pasta appetizer that had a heavy vinegar flavor. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, but not enough to make up for the food.
Yes the space is nice, if not affected, but the wait was ridiculous. Despite having reservations, we still had to endure a 40 minute wait! When I asked the hostess when we would be seated, she said that it wasnt her fault that their online booking system doesnt compute the right amount of time. She ended her speech with Its not an excuse. It sounds to me like it was. In any event, sure, maybe it isnt her fault, personally, but its not mine either. The restaurant had a fairly strong fishy smell, too. The food was salty. And despite the surly waiter going back and forth several times about steak preparation options (Im allergic to mushrooms which is in many of their dishes), my steak still wasnt ordered how Id asked; I couldnt even finish it. The desert, a gaueau basque, seemed rather stale; or perhaps they were going for a hard and dry scone-like dessert, rather than a more traditional dish. On the plus side, everything was so intensely salty that I dont need to worry about developing a goiter anytime soon.
I went for restaurant week and it was amazing! The food was delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful. Definitely on the romantic side. The service was impeccable. This place is a must visit.Favorites were: basil pest gnocchi which they have listed as gnudi, duck lorange, coffee ice cream and baked Alaska. But really everything was amazing. I hope to visit again soon.
The restaurant is beautiful and when its night time, they have candles lit to give their guests a night life experience. Delicious food and beverages, and wonderful service. They have a bar where customers or hotel guests can socialize and have fun to relax, or discuss business related matters. Whatever the guest needs are, Temple Court is the place to be.
Came here for brunch 12/7/19. The hostess both gave off a bit of a stuck up vibe like if we weren’t hotel guest then we were considered second to best.Food wise and drinks 5 stars. I’m giving it 3 stars for the service. For a full brunch there was only 1 waitress and 5 water/bus servers. Took over 40 mins to just get our order in and the waitress was not attentive at all. Took 30 mins to get our drinks from the bar and another 30 mins for coffee. Even though very nice. for the price of everything there should always be a waitress available.Great atmosphere just wish the service matched .
Food and atmosphere were delightful. The corn soup for an amuse bouche was bursting with flavor, the crusty sourdough roll was served hot, hamachi gazpacho appetizer was beautiful and delicious, the swordfish entree outstanding. I found the service slightly lax: slow to refill water glasses, needing to flag someone down for a 2nd glass of wine, and sitting with an empty glass for a considerable time. The manager offered a complimentary dessert to make up for those hiccups, and I had an excellent Swedish ice cider to finish off the meal.
Really lovely location, with ornate ceilings, comfortable furniture, and a beautiful book case that separates a the main dining area from the stairwells in the back. We had a large event in the basement which wasnt quite as fancy as the upstairs area and had the smell of a damp, musky basement. The food was great and service generous for our large group.
Have eaten twice: once on an anniversary, where specially printed menus had our name on them and the waiter brought us complimentary champage, and another time after our wedding at City Hall. Oddly, even though Id told them we were coming right from the ceremony, there was no special treatment for the wedding (no champagne, no printed menu), but the meal was no less delicious. We brought my parents and two dear friends and the six of us ate so much and had a fabulous time.
Stunning space. However, a mediocre lunch experience. Appetizer (gnudi) was excellent, main course (skate) was a mushy and presentation was messy. All food was over-salted.Service was sloooooowwww and not attentive. They never checked on us and left us hanging for additional wine with our mains. It was busy but not slammed. I dont get why service was so poor. The kitchen was a snails pace. I left an hour and 45 mins for the three course prix-fixe work lunch and in that time we never even made it to dessert! I asked for it to go with 20 mins remaining in my time slot, and I told them at that point I needed to leave for a meeting. The dessert never arrived, and I paid for it anyway. An hour and 45 minutes for to only make it through two courses is ridiculous, and the slow/bad service left a bad taste in my mouth overall.
Great food but the service leaves you less than satisfied. In my 15 plus years of dining in and around the city as an adult, I have never witnessed this type of horrible service. Starting from the disinterested hostess to the server never bringing us our drinks to the entrees being bought out over 50 minutes after the apps were dropped. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated whereas we arrived several minutes prior to our reservation. The host staff were too busy chatting away to inform us of our wait. The FOH staff walks around, clearly going out of their way to NOT make eye contact. I had to walk over to the managers after one of them totally ignored my “excuse me” and waving, oh mind you they were taking selfies! I had to let them know we were waiting for our entrees for over 40 minutes at that point. The rest of the staff seemed completely oblivious to how to do their job.
Tom Colicchio delivers! Amid the pandemic and dining on sidewalks and asphalt he created a space that truly brought back the feel of fine dining. And as always the menu was impeccable the octopus Carpaccio was amazing. As was the heirloom tomato salad the Rohan duck and the tile fish dish.
I love the space. It’s really well done. It’s perfect for drinks and also the dining room is posh.Had the oysters and crudo for appetizers. Oysters were good, but the crudo, pretty amazing. My tounge is still dancing from the flavors.I tried the dry aged bone in strip special for dinner with bone marrow. The steak was cooked perfectly to order. It had the nutty flavor you’d expect from a dry aged steak. I liked that it was pre-cut. You won’t get a misfiled steak that way. The marrow was also delicious.Overall, a great spot.
A true temple. The beautifully restored building welcomes and entices the thirsty traveler and the expert staff and sharp menu really deliver.Of particular note on the current cocktail menu would be the 2 doors down. Complex without being complicated, this short rocks-served cocktail was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. If youve the means I think Temple Court would be an ideal Date Night spot. Dont miss the extremely Grammable enclosed courtyard rising a full 9 stories above the bar floor.
Staff is extremely dismissive and rude to me when I lost an irreplaceable item in their restaurant. Especially the manager, Gus. No effort was made to find the item, nor to make it right. I was not given the opportunity to 1) pay to check, or 2) bring my item into the restaurant. If I had known these were both an option, I would have brought it in with me to ensure they would not be stolen. There is no visible sign anywhere near the front area that states that items left there are responsibility of the patron. The staff was extremely dismissive and rude to me once this happened, they just wanted me to leave and go about the rest of their night. Drinks were way too sweet too. Sorry, there are much better options in NYC.
Terrible Restaurant Week experience. Incompetent service and not much better results from the kitchen. Started with the foie gras pate, which was drowned in layer of jelly that was three times as thick as the pate and overwhelmed the flavor. I had to scrape away almost all the jelly to enjoy the pate.Main was the chicken, which came out cold. I assume it died on the pass, since it took forever to come out. Manager said he could have a new one brought out in two seconds. I reluctantly agreed, since I was worried about being late back to my office. It took a lot more than two seconds and was a little dry, like they just reheated it and put fresh vegetables on the plate.Check wound up taking forever to come out, despite asking for it as I finished my chicken. Was late back to my office as a result of both of these things, all for an entirely disappointing meal.
We cant begin to review this divine place!!! It was as if a piece got down from heaven! We loved every bit of the stay. The product are so tastefully done. The material that overlooks serene surrounded by the calm atmosphere has the most spectacular view. The services was awesome. Simply beautiful!!!!Make sure that your money is not waste.
This is a drop dead gorgeous space with an amazing cocktail and spirit menu. However, I just had a terrible experience attempting to dine here for lunch. I work in the area and have wanted to bring my husband for lunch and drinks for a long time. We finally got the chance today. We were seated in the beautiful central court and then proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. And no one came to our table. At first we were just chatting and then noticed that 15 min had gone by without anyone coming to our table. We flagged down a guy and said we were ready to order, however that did no good and still no one came. The place was not busy at all, with many empty tables and lots of staff, but we got no service. After another 10 min of waiting we got up to leave just as someone came to pour water. By that point, I had exhausted 25+ min of my lunch hour without even ordering, so we told her we had to go. She gave a half-hearted apology and we walked out. Ended up eating lovely falafel at another reataurant nearby, but not quite the special lunch we were hoping for. Very disappointed.
Came in to get out of the rain & enjoy some cocktails. Our Bartender Stefan made some great recommendations and convinced me to go off my usual Whiskey route and try the 6pm in Osaka cocktail which was divine. Very happy I took his advice and definitely will be back to try their food. We were super underdressed for the establishment in sneakers and tees but they had no issues serving us. 10/10 polite, responsive staff, clean & welcoming. Thanks Bar Room!
I was excited to go to downtown NYC, where I spent much of my childhood and youth. The City Hall area still has the desolate, cold charm I remember. Now, this place is a Must See! I would definitely go back for a drink and apps in the lounge, with its two story glass ceiling and vintage mezzanine. It was totally happening, in a good way, with a fabulous crowd. The dining room was very nice, LOTSA space between tables with booths along the wall. It was the day after Thanksgiving, and was at most half empty during our dinner. Why? NYC was packed for the holiday weekend. Our Man, seemed to be the waiter/server for the entire room and was delightful and gregarious. A total plus on what became a series of minuses. This was a reunion for me and my two gals, and we had the best day, going from the Warhol at the Whitney to Temple Court. We ordered the Baby Lettuce Salad which was $18. It was unremarkable to say the least and big rip off. What a joke, except it was not funny.Mains were Dover sole and monkfish osso bucco. The gals thought the sole was good, I thought it was on the fishy side and lacking thatspecial thing the most expensive fish on any menu has. The monkfish had flavor and was properly cooked, however it was lukewarm on the outer edge and was cool in the middle. No bueno.Along with the mains we were given fried potatoes and sautéed greens. We nibbled, we do not do fried and already had a salad. We thought it came with the entrees and did not question it.When I got home I saw that were we charged $9 each for something we did not order, plus tax and 25% tip. I emailed the place and this went back and forth for months, now I give up. I DO NOT give money to a millionaire celebrity chef. Period.Sum up - mediocre, misfired food, rip offed by the place, bitter espresso (really, sent it back and they brought another bitter one) stunning lounge. Boring dining room. Now we know why.TOM COLICCHI NO!
Great space- bar was eclectic and vibrant, amazing cocktails- cant wait to return and perhaps score a table and comfortable leather seat! need to settle issues with one person hogging a lounge table and lux seating for 4. we were there at the bar over and hour and lots of that going on.
The hotel seems nice but the restaurant exhibits piss poor customer service. We arrived a few minutes early for our Noon brunch reservation and were told by the host that they didnt seat until Noon and could we wait a few minutes? Sure, why not? When we stepped aside the next 8 groups who approached the host stand were immediately sat at their tables. After a few minutes when it was our turn we asked not to be sat near the band or the cold front door. Well it was too late for that and this was the only table left. The manager was gracious enough to visit our table and try to make amends but unfortunately this was the worst part of the experience: each of the three times he asked us a question our answers were immediately met with an interruption in a defensive tone. He was very combative and unapologetic and insisted that no other tables were available. Ten minutes later another group the same size as ours was sat next to the band. They requested to move farther away and were accommodated quickly. Hmmm.... Twice after this food that we didnt order was brought to our table and the runner announced a table number as if that was going to clarify if we ordered it or not. That would be normal in a diner. Our server was friendly, but unfortunately 3 out of 4 of our orders were entered wrong. We just ate what we got since we were so disappointed at this point. When we finished eating the manager again appeared with one of the three things that was incorrectly prepared and awkwardly tried placing it on top of our empty plates. We politely declined this late attempt at making it right but eventually accepted it to-go just to be done with this experience. The check featured all the incorrect things that were brought to our table and the round of drinks that the manager insisted he was buying for us.I worked in restaurants for a decade and know how hard it is to make adjustments on the fly, but its not hard to be kind to people or to write down an order. Ive always wanted to experience one of Tom Colicchios restaurants and this was very disappointing. I dont expect anything in return for this post. I just hope they will take this feedback and make sure others do not have this experience.
First visit. Our family group of eight enjoyed a wonderful three-course Thanksgiving dinner. The soecial menu offered fish and steak entrees as well as the traditional turkey, so everyone had a goid choice. Temple Court is on the ground floor just inside the Beekman Hotel. Our server was friendly and helpful, and our food was delicious. We look forward to another dinner on a regular evening.
Where to begin...Im active duty and went on leave recently to see my girlfriend back home. I wanted to take her out somewhere unforgettable to spoil ourselves in NYC, and Temple Court was absolutely the right place. The maître d Dylan placed us in one of the best sections of the bar room for drinks before our dinner reservation, and we even got to meet the manager who welcomed me back home and gave us a complementary first round of drinks. Top shelf cocktails, fantastic service, and a genuine appreciation for service members made the start of the evening one to remember. Dylan made sure everything was to our liking and moved us into the dining area and made sure we were continuously treated like family. We enjoyed the Duck ALorange and Braised Lamb Shoulder along with the Baked Alaska and Millefueille with strawberry, lavender, and honey for dessert which were both heavenly. The service was impeccable, the waiters were knowledgeable and also even let us try a small taste of Madeira at the end of the night. Overall, I cant say enough positive things about Temple Court, and am counting down the days until I am able to enjoy their dining experience again
OMG it was the best of the best in every way possible ❤️ the food was perfect from the appetizers to do dessert . The Service was Perfect 👌 are food was brought out at just the right time , the portions were just right. I could go on and on. If you ever have the chance to go its a must . Thank you to Dustin and the rest of the Staff at Temple Court
The most perfect dining experience in our 100+ combined years (2 of us) of eating out. Wow!Just shared the most perfect (Birthday) dining experience ever with my sister Terri at Tom Colicchios Temple Court in the historic Beekman Hotel in Manhattans FiDi! Wow!Everything about the dinner was perfect... setting, food, wine and spectacularly, to the employee, exceptional, personal, enlightened, and even empathetic service! Between my sister and I, each of us with some incredibly different life/dining experiences and expectations, and carrying along daily lifes emotional baggage, we agreed that we had just experienced perfection, where we were pampered, amused, meticulously cared for, and professionally served an exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented sumptuous repast. AND, it was using the menu from and during NYC Restaurant Week!!!Im telling you, from our call to the Reservationist yesterday afternoon confirming certain items were actually being included on the days menu, to Darrens inspired, understanding and engaging (beverage) service, through the friendly, informed, yet impeccable table service by Becky, Salvatore et al., they each were personable and provided absolutely superior interactions. The Temple Court team took an Open Table internet reservation extra note indicating it was Terris birthday and proceeded to print a personalized menu, give us the best seat in the restaurant, free welcome bubbly, consideration on the wine, and a perfectly timed 3 hour meal! We were convinced we were Toms most important friends.Im going to stop, lest my credibility suffers from too much praise. But, I will be going back!

2022-06-20Delicious food in a beautiful and stylish place. The breakfast is so yummy, I recommend ordering a house made pastry, the croissant is so buttery and comes with butter and marmalade. At night the bar has great cocktail options.I was tempted to remove 1 star because the service is slow, we had to chase the servers to take our order or give us the check, but the food makes up for that.Recommended!

2022-05-26Fresh seafood, creative taste, we switch out potato purée with charred spinach in the steak, with balsamic onion on top, the steak tasted like a nice layered flavors, between salty, savory with a hint of sweetness, a bit sour, quite a food adventure! And the ceiling view with hotel floors is magnificent. Love the wine and cocktail too

2022-05-07This restaurant made my most beautiful restaurants list for sure. The decor is worth the visit. Overall I would recommend this place despite the $$$$ check. We got unlucky with the waiter but it was evident that the other waiters were on point. One waiter took 5 pics of us when we asked for “ a “ pic. This is easily a 5 star with the right waiter.

2021-12-22Beekman hotel breakfast place located on the 1st floor is the same place of temple court. And the street entrance is from Beekman street. Quite pricey. Beekman breakfast which consist of 2 eggs 🥚 and choice of 🥓 or 🌭 cost $27. Smoke White fish with eggs Benedict also cost $27 and delicious. Presentation is excellent and friendly staff. As for dinner menu they have decent size and same friendly staff.

2022-06-17Went here for my birthday dinner. Food was good. Cacio e pepe white asparagus was a special dish. Entrees didnt blow us away but were good (duck and salmon). Crispy potatoes were good. Service was interesting - didnt order entrees until after we ate apps, and it was hard to get their attention.Beautiful space, but prob wont be back given the price point and other options.

2022-05-07A++ on the atmosphere. A- on the food. The food was good for sure, it’s just that the flavors felt a bit weird with each other. But the food was fresh and good.

2022-04-07I did not worship the food in the Temple Court. The Feuille de Brick (first photo) was not heavenly. The Brick (similar to filo dough) was crispy but too sweet, and there was not enough apples in the purse to satisfy Adam and Eve.The quail (second photo) was Godly, but the stuffing was not divine. It was the bland croutons that ruined the dish. The side of red cabbage that was too sweet for my blood. The dinner rolls were dry and room temperature. The soda was flat.I can’t understand all these terrific reviews.Maybe the chef had a bad night.

2021-07-27I took my husband to Temple Court on 10 for his birthday dinner, and it did not disappoint. It is a stunningly gorgeous space at The Beekman Hotel. It is intimate, romantic and worthy of special occasions. We ordered the 3 course menu. My husband ordered the hamachi Crudo, poached lobster in a coconut lemongrass broth and cake. I ordered the King Crab and melon starter, the herb crusted halibut and cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic - everything was good exactly as we had hoped. We will definitely return, and are discussing hosting an intimate dinner with friends and family for our upcoming anniversary.
