We asked for the steak well-done it is burnt, the Brussels sprouts over chard, broccoli way too salty and the drinks just plain thumbs down, watery. Other than that the view is nice. I would’ve taken a picture of the brussels sprouts but they took them away till soon. Needless to say I would not come back. The waitress was very sweet and nice!!!
Awful service. Had reservation @ 5:30 was seated right way. Took 15 minutes to get lukewarm water. Ordered two glasses of wine and an appetizer. Server camels back and one kind of wine is not a available. Still didn’t take dinner order. Finally got appetizer. Server comes back to take our dinner order again. 6:47 left with no dinner. Hi
(4:45pm )Well my mother is visiting from florida I wanted to take her somewhere near the water to show her buffalo has great restaurants with beautiful views. I did not know we need reservations which was ok so he told us to sit by the bar and wait. We walked over to the bar and the waitress did not acknowledge us for about 15 minutes!! It was not busy. Only a group of older woman who weren’t drinking. She left came back and than asked us. We ordered two drinks and quickly she asked us to pay. We decided to walk along the water but asked the hostess how long. After she told us 15 minutes another gentleman said we can go sit outside by the bar and eat there as well after 5:15. It was 5:20pm We walk and sat down. NO ONE CAME OR ASKED IF WE WANTED DRINKS OR ORDER FOOD. This was our first time here so I don’t know is this is the vibe but nothing happened!! We never ate no one approached us. It was 6:00 we decided to leave. Having such a beautiful restaurant and view you should have TOP customer service. I don’t care who walks through those doors money is money and that’s how you keep ppl coming. We jumped in the car and went to Pasquale’s and had the best dinner and sweetest waitress. Would I ever come here again? No!!! good luck maybe you’ll have better customer service
The outdoor patio and both bars are fantastic. Went there today for fathers day and our server Bella was an absolute delight. You dont often get servers that are both acrually good and super friendly but she was both, so kudos to her! The food has definitely been improved as well since we went there last year. I never get nachos as an app, but at this place I dont think Ill ever not get them again....the chef put love into them and as a fat guy I can tell and I highly recommend! Can be a bit pricey with a limited menu and I always feel like the no reservation idea is a bad one...they should at least like text your phone or something but thats aPretty nit picky, I know lol Very very pleased both times we went and Im sure well be back again sooner rather than later!
Went there on a very nice sunny summer day for the first time..asked to sit outside with a umbrella to enjoy the night. They sat us at a table w umbrella. A manager came out to open up the umbrella. After a couple tries at it he realized it was broken. He told us that there were no.more available umbrellas. We werent thrilled but got over it. 15 minutes later another table was seated who knew the other manager on duty. Lo and behold they got a umbrella. Brought it to the attention of our server what happened and a manager came to talk to us. Was very unimpressed how poorly he handled it. He told us there were no more available. Upon us leaving thru the bar. Gues what. Yes there were 5 or 6 available umbrellas. Companies want us to shop local which I try to.do but its very hard when you get treated very poorly As a customer and you try to address it properly only to get blown off. Very frustrating 😕
Service is absolutely terrible! Sat at a table near the bar and after 12 minutes of no one coming over to offer me not even a water I walked back over to the hostess and asked her to seat me somewhere I’m going to get service. Was seated at a table and after literally five waiters walked by me I got service. I ordered a wild berry mojito which I told was sweet, it was tart not sweet at all. The bar tender played in his hair as he made people’s drinks. I will never step foot in this place again. My waiter was a nice young guy but I had to ask him for a straw to drink out my glass, salt for fries, napkins to wipe my hands etc... stay away from this place. If they weren’t on the water the most likely wouldn’t be around
Food was great! My wife and I order spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and 2 fish fry entries. The spinach artichoke dip was served with deep fried pita bread chips and just that alone was filling and we couldnt finish it. I believe that appetizer could easily be shared with 4-5 people. When our fish fry came out to the table we were shocked by the size of the fish that they gave us. The fish was served on a bed french fries (very good and crispy) and it also came with coleslaw, ketchup, and tarter sauce. The fish was fried to perfection in my opinion and the fish was very flaky. Plus to top it all off we ate on the deck outside with the great view of the water. So if youre in the mood for good food and great service head over to Templeton Landing Restaurant.
We have a Wednesday night dinner club. We go to a different restaurant every two weeks. We had an enjoyable meal and a wonderful time on the patio. Kayla was a great server and gave us exceptional service. Clayton the manager stopped by and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely come back.
I would have never expected to be so disappointed in a restaurant that used to have a very high standard. On a relatively slow night, the bar maid took nearly 10 minutes to give us our first drink. We placed an order for a couple of appetizers that came out cold an half an hour later after ordering. The glass/ mirrors separating the restaurant had smudge marks and finger prints on them as if they had not been cleaned in weeks. Near the end of the bar there was an odor of musty stale beer. Cob webs were strung from the ceiling down to the beer taps. The kicker that made my husband and I leave was our beverages being bombarded with fruit flies. To make matters worse, after leaving I decided to call and speak with a manager. I was told that it really didn’t matter because they were closing for the season after this weekend and it really didn’t matter to him anyway. Unacceptable! We will never be back there again !
Old, outdated, unprepared and understaffed. I made my reservation on line with open table and requested outdoor seating as it was my girlfriends birthday. We were told when we arrived that even with the reseveration it would be a 30 to 40 min wait. We chose not to wait and sat indoors. Out waitress came by and asked for our drinks. I requested ice tea. They were out. After a while our order was taken. One of my guests, my girlfriend son wanted the NE clam chowder. They were out of that too. Thank goodness they had beer. I will say and it is the only reason this is not a 1 star review the crab cakes were decent. Our meals came and the Hamburger that was requested medium rare was well done and over cooked. My girlfriends salad was doused in dressing. My salmon and pasta was drowning in sauce the salmon still had bones in it. Our waitress was covering 5 to 7 tables at a time and was more concerned about drink orders than how our food was. I had to ask a bus boy for water refills. Sorry this was the 1st time I went Templeton Landing and it will be my last. A poor meal, poor service poor preparation. Sadly disappointed.
5/21/21- had a 5:30 reservation for happy hour but decided to stay for dinner because the views were nice. Big mistake. Drinks were mediocre at best. Appetizers were cold. Do not get the raw oysters! They were so small and not cleaned at all. Entrees were nothing to write home about but I will say the salmon on top of the Caesar salad was pretty good. They have happy hour drink and food specials and our server rang up the bill full price and seemed confused when we asked him to fix it.Only thing nice about this place were the views and the hostesses who took pictures for us and were very polite. Got pictures of the view so won’t be returning.
The outdoor lakeside scenery is awesome. Ive been here before and really enjoyed it. This time I took my daughter here for her college graduation dinner and was disappointed, to be honest. The carpet was worn out, they were completely understaffed...I know there are staffing issues. However, then dont take two big parties and then multiple indoor and outdoor table reservations. The one party was positioned behind a curtain and their noise overtook our evening out. I feel like the poor waitress had almost all of the tables, both inside and out. She was running around. We had 2 napkins and 2 plates to share our appetizers. After over an hour our food came out and it was so so, as the menu was very limited. All in all we made the best of it, but I dont think Id go back too soon until I knew the menu was altered and especially not before September, when I anticipate the worker shortage will be over.
Templeton Landing was a great place to visit after work. The majority of servers were working hard and very friendly. There was one guy kind of lollygagging, but everyone else was busting their butts. The view was amazing and the food (both salads) were excellent. The reason I am socking a star is their fresh crab cakes appear to be frozen and then deep fried. I say this because they were identical to each other. As a place that touts seafood, you should just make the crab cakes in house rather than buy them frozen.
Okay so I am not sure how I have never heard of this place. Very tucked away but absolutely beautiful, love all the fire and water elements. Our waitress went above and beyond for us and really helped make a great first impression. I wish I had been a little more adventurous with trying different menu items, but what I had was very good
Atmosphere on the patio by the water was wonderful, great service. Unfortunately the appetizers we wanted were sold out(Calamari) so we settled for truffles fries and spinach dip. Fries were what I expected but the spinach dip and fried pitas were not. Watery dip and a few burned pitas and over priced. Drinks were good though. Enjoyed the live band IMPACT and company of friends.
Whoever shucked the oysters didn’t know what they were doing. The oyster wasn’t freed from the shell and the delicious liquor was dumped before serving. The salmon was dry as dry could be. My sapphire martini was not right and the server insisted it was correct; I ordered a different drink altogether. On a positive note, the Papardelle was excellent.
My better half and I attended a wedding reception held here. The staff was wonderful. They were cheerful and accommodating. There was 1 lady in particular who made the rounds with everyone. Answering questions and making jokes. She almost fit right in with the families. The hors Doeuvres were quite nice. Some were a bit bland and others a little too spicy but otherwise quite good. The coconut shrimp was TO DIE FOR!!! One of the bartenders knew how to make an excellent whiskey sour. The outside was covered in spiders and webs but looked decent enough. Inside was dressed up quite nicely. The meal was very good. A but too small of a portion for my liking but the steak was tender and juicy. It wasnt wasnt what Id call the most incredible place but between the staff, the food/drinks and live entertainment it really was quite nice. I would recommend this place for a good reception. 👍
My wife and I came in from out of town having made reservations for 8:30pm. We walked from our hotel and the red flags started appearing as soon as we walked into the parking lot.Red flag 1: We cross paths with a drunk lady harassing a Tesla and singing 99 bottles.Red flag 2: a bicycle powered party wagon with 10 drunk people roll past us blasting music bound for this restaurant.Red flag 3: The retaining wall leading to the entrance was littered with Coors Light cans and Solo cups.Reg flag 4: drunk guy is yelling at hostess because he hasn’t been seated and there are empty tables.Red flag 5: the restaurant was hot and humid like their air conditioning was broken.Reg flag 6: we were seated literally in the middle of a wedding reception. Drunk wedding guests were standing all around us at our table.Reg flag 7: we asked to sit at the bar, but the host said they don’t serve the same food. When we inquired further with a waitress, she started yelling at the host and openly berating him, then told us they serve the same food.Reg flag 8: when we finally got to the bar, the bartender told us that it was cash only.At that point we left to go somewhere else. If you’re wasted and not really aware of your surrounding, this place is probably fine. If you just want some dinner and a couple drinks, literally go anywhere else.
Made a reservation for 7:45, when they close at 8. Most places if you make a reservation they still let you in. When we got there the front desk woman was EXTREMELY disrespectful. She said they called all reservations. And I did not receive a single phone call.I hope the food is better than their service. I wont be back. Such a shameAfter I posted this original review. I was told that the general manager would contact me. Its been over 1 week since I was told. And have not heard from anyone. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this restaurant and their poor customer service.
Worst service we have ever had at a restaurant. I cant tell if it was the waitress, bartender or kitchen because our waitress blamed it on all of them....but she forgot to put our drinks in and never apologized for anything. We received our appetizers before our drinks (finally after 25 minutes). Our waitress told us twice the bread was baking and once said they just started baking it.... we actually never got any bread. Our whole table got steaks medium rare and they were all just randomly cooked - one was well-done, one was rare and another was medium well. Everything was super disappointing. Will never come back here and will tell everyone I know not to come here too.
Def not what it used to be. Not a good experience at all. The place is rather beat. There was trash in the gardens on the way in also the fire area on the way in was beat up and stones were falling off. Then when we got in we were seated at a table that was oddly low and extremely wobbly and had to ask to be moved. The apps and main entrees were not that great at all and while I was eating I came across (in my mouth) what felt at first to be a undercooked noodle...but after chewing for a bit discovered it was a rubber band...maybe from the veggies in the dish (I hope)🤮The drinks hardly had any liquor in them and tasted watered down. Its honestly very sad... The place has such a prime location and beautiful view of the water. Sadly...we wont be back.
I attended a wedding tonight with my wife who eats gluten and dairy free. Unfortunately all the food was prepared with some sort of gluten or dairy in it. I asked the manager if I could please have some extra veggies for my wife who is gluten and dairy free. He went above and beyond by preparing an entire dish for my wife that conformed to her dietary needs tasted delicious and looked beautiful. I cant express enough how much I appreciate what he did!
Not what we expected. Outdoor and main entrance ambience was wonderful! Fireplace outside along with a waterfall and koi. App on Google worked well for booking a table. View of the water was nice. The wait staff, especially Kimberly K, was awesome! I did not see 1 of them stand still for more than a minute! And she was still sweet and nice! By the end of our meal the hostess was waiting a table next to us! THEY DESERVE A HUGE RAISE! As for the dining room decor...it felt like I was in a upscale version of a library with the wooden tables and chairs. Not anything like the outside. Misleading for what you first walk up to. For the food. VERY BLAND. For the price of the wild mushroom paradelle, undercooked noodles in water with a mushroom looking sauce, bland tasting artickoke and spinach dip, and the mostly ice sangria. The burger was ok. But the pita bread was good so were the shrimp on the entree. For the price, I feel, not worth it. I will not be back. Three stars, given only for the service. Great job to all of the wait staff!
Went to Templeton 7/22/21. Ordered the crab cakes, waitress took my order then proceeds to bring out the tables food and says we are out of the crab cakes then says to me. well make you fried calmari. Fried calamari came out and it was SOME fried calamari then it had fried, onions? peppers? as well. To be fair they removed it off my tab. But clearly, the kitchen doesnt speak to the staff on the floor. Food sucked, wont be going back.
I’ve DJ’d many weddings here over the years and still do. Staff is very nice. Really nice atmosphere. They have a smaller room on one side for smaller events and a grand ballroom for larger events. Perfect if your heart is set on something near the Buffalo Canalside area. I have posted a few photos of the grand ballroom of a wedding that I was the DJ for. Enjoy!
I read through many reviews prior to visiting with my wife, and our experience confirmed the majority of them.. our fair and objective review, and the bottom line - this place has a great scenic location and facility, but food needs some serious help. We ordered a caeser salad with grilled chicken, the salad was very small and dressing tasteless. The grilled chicken was seasoned but tasted very bland like it wasnt marinated at all. We ordered spinach artichoke dip- when it came out it was obvious it sat long before it came out. It was cold, and the cheese on top was not melted, it was one hard solid piece on top that we couldnt dip into. The pita pieces were fried too long and harder than they should be, and dried out. We ordered crab cakes that were just ok, not nearly as good as they could be. The restaurant was basically empty for a Saturday night, but not a suprise to us. This restaurant need some serious enhancements in the kitchen with much better cooks if they want to stay in business. Wont be coming back.
This restaurant gets two stars simply because of its location; through no effort of it own.The location and the restaurant itself was enough to pique our interest to eat there. Its a beautiful place, with gas lanterns lighting the doorway and gas fireplaces that are sure to warm and invite you in. Its situated on the picturesque erie basin marina waterfront, and on a perfect weather day in Buffalo. Sadly, that is all the positivity i can say about my experience. Everything after the moment we walked in was substandard and amateurish for what wed hoped would be a higher class dining experience.First mistake was on the host. We were seated in a section not being covered by any wait staff, quite a distance from the nearest waiter assigned area. Once able to flag a waiter down, we asked, and were told that our wouldbe waiter had been reassigned to the outdoor patio. Plus, every table around us was nicely set for dining except for the one we were seated at. That warmth i spoke of quickly dissolved because this restaurant wasnt very busy.We ordered cocktails to start thing off...which we couldnt drink because they were awful. Our waiter comped those drinks and brought us two different which were fine.We managed to pick from their very limited menu and get it ordered. then we waited.....and in about 15 mins or so we were served rolls and butter. Another 15 mins and our waiter checked to see how we liked them and said our food would be out shortly. Now were very specific on what we ordered due to food allergies and such, and when our food finally did arrive, not only was our order not prepared to our request, it was cold no doubt because it had been sitting easily for 15-20 minutes.I certainly cant recall ever having been cared for worse at a restaurant. Templeton Landing is run by amateurs at best. Its a beautiful place, but i wouldnt want to eat there if i were you.
Would NOT go back. I made a reservation to sit on the patio well in advance. We showed up and the hostesses had no idea what they were doing. Extremely unorganized and inexperienced. They said there were no tables available outside, so I asked how long a wait it would be even though we had a reservation. She told us 40 mins so we reluctantly said inside was fine. Once seated by the window, we see a two tables open up outside right away. I went to ask the hostess if we could move outside now and she rudely said there is a waitlist for outside tables and we couldn’t be moved. There was no waitlist. Absolutely terrible service. Our waiter was exceptional and the food was okay-mostly over priced, drinks tasted watered down with lots of ice. Would not go back
Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance. They should notify people when they have events so you know you cant sit outside at all. Still had to wait past our reservation time. Waitress came to the table once since someone else brought our food out. Never came back to offer mors drinks or to see how the food was. Had to wait over half hour for our check because she was sitting at another table chatting it up with two guys. When she finally came over to the table and seen we barley touched are food, never even questioned if there was anything wrong. Food wasnt even good. Very limited menu. For what you pay its not worth it at all.The place is not even clean table was dirty and very dingey dining area. It was so hot inside you can see other guest using a napkin to fan themseleves. Worst experience for our 5 year anniversary. Will never return.
I have quite a bit of experience with Templeton Landing now and it has been universally positive. As a restaurant the main attraction is the patio, with wonderful views of the Buffalo Harbor and lake. The food is always well prepared and tasty. The menu is not the most imaginative in Western NY, but the preparation of each dish is never lacking.I also held my wedding here in 2018, and would rate it higher than 5 stars if possible. The experience was flawless, starting with their event team who were extremely helpful during the planning process. On the day of the food, bar, and staff were excellent as well. The food and ambiance were of particular note, providing some of the best value available. Many other venues struggled to impress as much despite charging higher prices.
My friends and I went for lunch yesterday . We had to ask when a server was going to come over, which took almost 15-20 mins. I ordered a fish sandwich based on the looks of 2 that came out prior to mine. When I received mine it was the tail and just about half the size of the ones that came out before. I asked the server to take it back for something like the ones I had seen prior. He was more than gracious. When the new fish came back it was even smaller and I was told, “ well it’s thicker.” Subsequently the next fish sandwich that walked by was like the other 2 I had seen. Very disappointing! The person and I that shared this sandwich literally had 3 bites a piece and left hungry. Did not receive the quality or quantity of food I paid for. Will not be returning.
We had a very nice anniversary celebration dinner at Templeton Landing. We chose to be outsude on the deck and the Staff were very accommodating in moving umbrella shades to block the late day sun. We ordered drinks which came quickly and well made. The shrimp cocktail appetizer is enough to share with 8 very jumbo shrimp. Our entrees, filet mignon and lake perch were very well prepared and we finished everything. Dessert is not house made but comes from Lockport and the cheesecake was outstanding. The only caution I offer is that the menu us not very big so choices are limited, but its all well done.
From an honest perspective, the management of this restaurant is clearly inexperienced with running an upscale restaurant. First off, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and got Pinot Grigio instead. It took nearly two hours to get our entrées. My “Templeton Burger” was burnt to a crisp and hardly edible. The fries were decent. My girlfriend got the Pappardelle pasta, came out cold and tasted “like feet.” Others in our group got the perch, salmon, and pasta. All came out cold. Our server was extremely nice and it was clear that she was brand new. It was clear that she was stretched way too thin. For those looking for a good place to eat - this is not it. Not worth the $200 tab for cold and burnt food.
Great setting, staff was extremely kind and the service was great. Food was tasty and well priced and the drinks were also a good price. (The $3 drafts during happy hour are very nice). From my experience literally nothing negative to say. Would go back again the place is great
I agree wholeheartedly with the last review...this restaurant should close until the Covid threat is over. They are going to lower their ratings significantly with the way the restaurant is currently being run. My husband and I have been to several restaurants since the re-opening and have had pleasant dining experiences. This was not the case at Templeton Landing. Our group of 6 sat at a table outside for over 20 minutes waiting for a server before we were even told we had to go to the bar to order our food and drinks. We all included a hefty tip ( especially considering it was self serve) which we later found was not being shared with the three people who were working the pick up table! This frustrated us even more because they were the ones running back and forth to tables, cleaning up, dropping off food to those who didn’t hear their pagers go off, adjusting shade umbrellas, etc. We ended up giving them an additional tip because we felt bad for them! The food was sub par compared to previous visits. I had my usual chicken Caesar salad . I have to say, I’ve had better salads at Wendy’s for half the price! The silverware was the cheapest plastic you could possibly get making it almost impossible for people at our table to cut their meat! All in all it was a very disappointing experience. If you still decide to go, save your tips for the “runners” at the pick up table!
Id love to give this place a better review, but they have some really big improvements to make. The place is beautiful and next to the water, but the drinks and food are not worth the price and are not tasty. The cocktails are very sweet and artificial, and the food was cold and made with pre packed ingredients (very tasteless). Please improve, the location has huge potential and would love to come back if things improve.
I would like to thank everyone at Templeton landing for making my daughters bridal shower such an amazing day. Jade the event planner went out of her way to to make such everything was perfect. The wait staff was on point. Thank you everyone for all of ur hard work.laurie Christopher 9/21/21
The setting is beautiful. I only got a beet salad, which was good, but not like its a difficult plate. My issue was that I showed up for lunch on Thursday at 12:45 and, once seated, no one acknowledged me for 15 minutes. I finally stopped a waitress to ask for a server. She was dismissive of my request since I was not her customer. 5 minutes later someone finally approached me (I was about to leave). In all I was there for over an hour and ate for all of about 5 minutes, as I only ordered the salad because I needed to catch a plane. Their staff is very pretty, but their youth does not lend well to customer service. Maybe train for a little more taking action and ownership, rather than just taking direction.
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we loved it. Its very hard to make a good fish fry thats really thick, in my opinion. But Templeton Landing has one of the best fish frys Ive ever had. The prices are surprisingly affordable as well. Not cheap, but not a place that will break the bank. The drinks were really good. The staff is very friendly too. The waitress we had didnt come to our table as often as other waitresses had gone to their respective tables, so that is the only thing I could say wouldve needed improvement. But, my girlfriend and I will definitely be going back soon.
Ive been on the patio bar in the past and think its a beautiful location with a really fun atmosphere, although the prices are a bit high. I understand the location definitely calls for higher prices, but its difficult to stay for an entire evening when the prices are so high.Recently I went to a wedding at Templeton and it was just lovely. It was a large wedding, but the staff did an amazing job of serving and taking care if the guests. The restrooms were kept clean and the wedding seemed to go on without a hitch as far as the guest could tell.
We only go for the outside patio and the live music which both of these are great!! They dont have a very good menu and its not very tastey. I ordered a strawberry spinach salad and it came without the roasted almonds and no onion. And then I waited 15 minutes standing my the bar trying to order and it wasnt even very busy, she kept just going back to bigger group and walking right by me. Great location, not good food. Ill stick to a glass of wine and dessert next time and go eat somewhere else.
We hosted our ceremony and reception for 200 guests at Templeton Landing in October. It was actually the first and only venue we visited during our wedding planning process and we put a deposit down just a week after our first visit. From the contract process, to the tasting, to the final weeks to the actual event itself, we were so impressed with everything Templeton Landing had to offer. Our event coordinator, Amber, was a dream. She was organized, efficient, friendly and most importantly - made us feel like our wedding was special. She worked seamlessly with our entire suite of vendors and our wedding was truly flawless. I especially appreciated how she made all of our parents feel like celebrities on our wedding day by providing them special service and attention. Id also like to call out the banquet servers and bartenders. They were outstanding. Every time I encountered an employee they greeted me with my name and a smile. The bartenders even knew the names of the members of our bridal party. What service!!! With its position on the Erie Basin Marina, I cant think of a more beautiful place to get married in the Buffalo/Niagara region. Thank you to the entire Templeton Landing event and banquet staff for making our wedding day a flawless success.
So upon hearing mixed reviews and looking for a place with a great view we decided to give the it a try. We arrived early for our reservation and decided to go out to the patio to enjoy a drink. As Im sure it always is with nice weather it was bustling with people and had a live band. Being so the the music was nice, even though a little loud which i guess can be expected. When it was time for our reservation we moved inside to have a great evening. Our waiter Jeffery was very patient with us as we were engaged in conversation and not paying so much attention to ordering. He was very polite, knowledge of the menu and specials. Jeffery seem to really be on point and knows how to create the experience. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere all around and our meals were delicious. We thank Templeton Landing and Jeffery for a great evening. Would definitely recommend and partake in the experience again.
Let me start by saying I really wanted to love it. Only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because my husband liked his fish tacos.I tried to order a flat bread, out of flat bread, which is fine. But I wanted to order something else after I put my appetizer order in, our waitress was nowhere to be found.. I think we seen her a total of 3 times.I was very disappointed with the whole experience.
My experience was awful. The table was dirty and the service was terrible. My fiance ordered French onion soup and a steak salad. I ordered clams on the half shell and fresh Lake Perch. My clams came with the meal and they were steamed. The waitress argued with me that they were raw. I sent them back to be taken off the bill. She paid little attention to us. Never came back to see if we wanted more beverages. It wasnt crowded and a limited menu so no excuse there. Beautiful waterfront setting but Ill find another one. I wont be going back anytime soon.
Wonderful restaurant located near the waters. The staff here are kind, helpful, warm, and welcoming. The environment and ambiance is nice and the views are really nice! Food is very fresh, delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for the portions. Great place to celebrate special occasions, or to sit down and have a nice, full meal.
Went with my office of 8 people for a work celebration. 1 bartender which was very overwhelmed. Sat outside on the patio overlooking the water which was absolutely beautiful and the best part of the restaurant. They were set to close within 2 days so the menu was a little scarce. The tumbleton burger was fantastic! Service was good!
We had an excellent time, the patio seating was perfect, there was a band playing music our waiter Wade was awesome, he didnt miss a beat! We had fish dinners they were delicious all four of us had a different variety and all were so good!! We will definitely be going back, loved it!!
Went in with a group of people and when we asked about the status of our drinks, our waitress was very rude. She told us well Im only one person and there is only one bartender, so we are doing the best we can. A simple I will check on those drinks for you would have been a better response. The food was good but waitress was rude and we felt like we were being rushed. Wish I could remember the waitresses name, but I feel her attitude was not where it should have been for an establishment like this. I suggest that if you expect a large crowd for a Friday night.
My family and I came for Easter brunch. Everything was delicious - huge variety of options. We all enjoyed the Bloody Mary bar. Our favorite spot for brunch in the city. Beautiful views and consistently great food. Plan on coming back soon to enjoy the Summer and some drinks on the patio.
The Management and Staff hit it out of the park for my event. There was NOTHING they wouldnt do to make my family celebration a total success. The venue looked INCREDIBLE! Dave and Matt and the rest of their team worked with all my vendors to make everything look exactly as I dreamed it would...they even went the extra mile to throw in little details that I never even thought of (and trust me, I thought of a lot). They never said no...working tirelessly to make it all happen. They served 200 meals, accommodating a variety of complex dietary needs, and not a single meal was cold, dry or overcooked. Everyone was served virtually simultaneously, enabling us to all start dancing and celebrating at the same time. The bar tenders were enthusiastic and efficient, so nobody waited too long for cocktails. They were absolutely charming and all my guests commented. The management and staff and Templeton Landing will be forever linked to one of the most special occasions of our lives. I have already booked my next event there 2 years from now!!! I cannot thank them or express my gratitude enough.
Great experience for food and drinks and appetizers We went on a Friday. They have the largest fish fry in WNY and very good Drinks were also very good. Service was a little slow but the restaurant was busy beyond belief. But with the views of the waterfront the wait wasnt an issue. Live music was also featured, so with great food and drinks and a great atmosphere No better place in Buffalo to be on Friday night!!!!
My girlfriend and I had a great meal and drinks. Paul the chef came by and offered us a couple of samples of their dried meat. Amazing. Ordered it right away. Plus how can you beat the location!!! If you want to go on vacation but stay I. Buffalo this is the place. Our bartender John was great.
Extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant is an understatement. Service was simply non existent. Waited for our initial round of drinks for over 25 minutes to have a celebratory toast, which was the reason for our reservation. Ordered 3 appetizers, which when arrived could barely feed a party of 3- not 7. The server failed to ever inform us of dish sizes or make a recommendation for more based on our party size. Placed another round of appetizers as soon as initial order was received, came out 1 HOUR later after we had finished our entire meal. Mediocre seafood entrees & selection.Constantly had to get up to find server because waiting was so long. Was told when ordering they did NOT have haddock on the menu by the server, then when leaving, their manager explained to me that their fish fry is in fact haddock. Manager blamed poor service and long wait times on the server and a busy afternoon- There was 5 other parties and 40 empty tables on the patio. Comped us with 4 $20 coupons that EXPIRED on 6/13/2019. A true embarrassment to themselves and their establishment. Wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy. Working in the restaurant industry myself, the lack of hospitality at a restaurant of this caliber $$$ was extremely insulting.
We attended a birthday celebration. When we arrived the staff seemed confused about the partys location...which room. This place is old and smelly, definitely need to be updated. The good thing was the scenery which was right off the water. The food was good but the service was lacking, staff was unorganized when serving the food. I would go back for the food and the scenery.
I couldnt even describe the food, we arrived early for a reservation and were sat immediately. We were told it was a wait for the patio but they told us wed be served right away. We sat for literally 30 minutes, and nobody even glanced at our table. There were 3 tables around us being served but for some reason not ours. I went up to the hostess, inquired about outside, was told it would still be a wait, so we decided to try and stay, she asked if we had been seen by a waitress, I told her we had not. She stated a server would be over with us right away. We waited another 15 minutes before we seized to leave. No idea how the food is but the service is awful. Maybe the management staff should write to the television show Bar Rescue! Good Luck!
First time we went the food was amazing. The second time, months later, it was bland and not impressive at all. New chef perhaps? The bands are sometimes good but more often they are awful...we hear them nightly from our boat at Erie basin marina and usually have to turn up our music to drown them out. Still, it has nice views and great ambience otherwise, pretty to look at.
This place should not be open if they can not handle COVID 19 like other restaurants.. 1st you have to order your food at the bar and drinks and walk them back to your own table.. 2nd our food took over 30 minutes to finish and at a table of 4 only two dinners came .. when we had to walk back to where you pick up your food they completely looked disorganized and asked us if we ordered together! That’s the only option you gave us at the bar. Then forgot to make the 2 other dishes for our table. So as two people were done their dinners we still have not received ours. Horrible service!!!
The food was very good. Unfortunately, our service was slow and food arrived over an hour and a quarter later. Our water was never refilled and we were never asked if we wanted another drink. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived and was empty when we left. Beautiful view and great location.
The view and location are great. The wait staff and manager were very friendly. However the food was underwhelming for the wait and price. It took almost an hour for 4 basic meals to come out. Has a lot of potential but it seems that the kitchen end of things is under performing.
Attended my nieces wedding at Templeton Landing. Beautiful evening with a great view of the waterfront. My food was delicious and our server, Jordan, did a fantastic job with a smile. She even cleaned up a glass someone broke under our table as soon as it happened. What a fantastic night to celebrate with family & friends.
Great location for sunsets and views of the water. Food was very blah and service was very slow (service for 5 people start to finish was 2 hours plus). Prices were average. If you want to just have a relaxing evening and have great views with mediocre food and service this is the place for you.
I came with a party of 13. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks (each time we ordered drinks). They were out of most of the craft beers (draft & bottle). My buddy and I realized it was faster to just go to the bar for drinks. There was a party of 8 that came in 45 minutes after we did and they were served their food before us. When the waitress was questioned about this, she stated that there was a mixup and that party of 8 was served our orders...well arent we off to a good start. When we were finally brought our food, only half of the orders were brought to the table. Myself and several others had to wait another 20 minutes for our food to be served. I ordered the Cannonball burger to be cooked medium, it was burnt to a crisp and looked like a hockey puck. There were others in the group that found their food to have been prepared less than satisfactorily. When speaking with the waitress regarding service and food she accepted no responsibility, instead placing all blame on other restaurant staff. Eventually the manager came over. He was extremely underdressed, wearing an oversized SouthPole button-up and jeans. He apologized for the issues and gave the birthday girl of our group a free drink and a piece of cake that looked like it came straight our of the Sams Club freezer. A few meals, including mine, were compd. The mixed drinks that were ordered were also taken off of the bill. What I find to be so frustrating about the experience, other than leaving hungry, is that the restaurant wasnt even busy. There were numerous open tables. There were everal staff who were either wandering around aimlessly like lost puppies or could be spotted hanging out at the bar as if it was employee happy hour. There was no acceptable eason for the screwups or the time between serving drinks. The only thing this place has going for it is that its in a prime location with a nice view of the river. My family will not be returning to Templeton Landing in the future.
I really enjoyed the New Years Eve Celebration! After having read the reviews of last years party and other events I didnt expect to have such a good time. I found myself wishing that I had read the reviews before I booked a reservation. However, somebody took those reviews and really upgraded their service. The waiters were friendly, the room was beautifully decorated and although we were seated at the last table in the corner, which I thought at first I would hate, it was by the windows where we had a beautiful view of the lake and skyline. The food was excellent We were seated with a fun group, the band was on point and We danced the night away! At the door we got into our car, retrieved by the parking valets. All in all, a superb party!
Was in a wedding. Wedding was here. Not impressed. Good was average at best and the portions werent large. Very little bread for the table, a thin slice each and no refill. Beer taps apparently werent working. Which wasnt a problem for me, but, cmon. They werent working Friday or Saturday. And the one bartender was extremely overwhelmed between the ceremony and the cocktail hour. If were paying for drinks, and are in the wedding party, it shouldnt take 10 minutes to get a drink.Dunno. Not a fan of this place and probably wont be returning.
This place doesnt deserve the rating it has based on the experience we had on 7/26. Julia was our waitress, she was a sweetheart. Brought waters without us asking, Refilled beverages promptly as needed, brought condiments needed ahead of time, and answered questions like she knew how the food was prepared. We had margaritas, raw oysters and fish and chicken tacos. Everything was great. We didnt want to rush out of there with the beautiful sunset view and fire pit! I will be back for sure!
Nicely situated along the harbor; a clean and adequately decorated venue. For a wedding reception the service was decent if a bit too slow not to be noticeable. On the patio, only a few of the gas fire pits were lit, though it was a cool night and they may have been especially appreciated. Overall, slightly better than I expected, but not up to its potential.
LOVE the location but food is mediocre at best and besides prices being to high they change like the weather. Different bartenders charge you different prices! They also tend to cancel their music on a whim! Two times the summer went to see bands that were cancelled at the last minute with nothing posted on Facebook or anywhere else.
I got a filet and it was dry (I even ordered it medium). even though it was pink inside, the outside was char grilled so bad. No flavor either; I don’t know how you mess up this cut of meat like that. I also ordered my French onion soup with no bread and there was extra bread that absorbed all of the soup. The waitress saw me taking the bread out and chose to ignore the mistake completely. We know people are not always comfortable sending things back so she could’ve gone out of her way to correct it or take it off the bill.
We held my mothers 50th birthday party here and the staff, with the exception of our server Anita, was rude and very unaccommodating. Even though we paid our money to reserve our space we were treated as if we were inconveniencing the staff with our simple requests. The food is great, the people need work.
Its taken me a while to write a review about my wedding experience,.. One in which I was not happy with. Everything leading up the weeks before my wedding were great. The woman who seemed to be in charge was great. However a week before she was on vacation and would be until after my wedding.. It went down hill from there. My half centerpieces were lost, which they blamed me for not bringing them all... until they found them as they were cleaning the room that night. (really enjoyed the back talk from the server telling me it was my fault and then laughing) . Table numbers werent set up correctly, causing guests not to have seats, again, I blame the fact that some random person whom Id never met took over. Food was ok, but wrong. Rice served with both chicken and steak instead of mashed potatoes with steak. The only good things I have to say about this place: the bar staff was great to my guests and the view is beautiful. Brides be very CAUTIOUS when booking. Im come to believe that they have a high turn over rate of employees. Someone you may be working with might not be there on your date.. Worst part is, not one person contacted me afterwards. I will never recommend them to anyone.
Very nice venue, lovely location right on the Erie Basin Marina. You are able to dine inside and then stroll outside along the water. During the warmer weather, boats will dock at the restaurant and either stop for drinks or a meal. Lunch and dinner are available. They also have a Mothers day Champagne brunch.
I went to meet my parents for a quick walk before going to lunch. As I parked in the Templeton Landing lot I was asked to move due to private property. There are no signs stating that indicates private property. As I explained we would be going for a quick walk at 10:45 am then back to enjoy a beautiful lunch ( for my 30th Birthday) around 11:30 am, I was told I could not park and that my vehicle would be towed. I moved my vehicle and will not be returning to this establishment. Three customers plus two that were going to join for a drink after our lunch will not be returning. I as well as my mother have been in customer service for years. Your business just lost out and so did the server on her tip. Sad when the restaurant did not even open until 11:30. If i could rate this with zero stars i would. Very unhappy non accommodated customers.
The service was incredibly slow, our waitress did not know how to open a bottle of wine. I ordered the shrimp pasta dish and it was the most horrible food I ever put in my mouth. The pasta was overcooked and gummy; the sauce was bitter and tasted burnt ... like they scraped it off the bottom of the pan. They tried to make it right by replacing my dish with the chicken, but the chicken was overcooked too and was super dry. The only reason I am giving it two stars is because of the location.
If I could give the review 0 stars I would Im currently sitting in the bar area waiting for a table I reserved at 5:30 and now its currently 6:30. Completely unorganized and down right outrageous, unless you get special treatment I would not waste your time sitting at this restaurant. The employees are nice and the free valet parking is also nice but I havent even been seated an hour later not to mention the wait for the food. Please save your self the time effort and money its not even that nice of a place. 0 out of 5 stars because they cant handle 6 oclock on a thursday. Ha what a joke
Service was mediocre. Appetizers took almost an hour, and the meals were out just a few minutes after that. Group of 6 and 3 had something wrong with their order (only 1 was fixed) and due to lackluster service, half the group never got a refill, half the group only got one, outdoors on an 85 degree day for almost two hours.
Our experience at Templetons Landing was beyond great. Initially, we planned on eating and having a few drinks on the bar/canopy side. But due to lack of business being on a Monday night, the kitchen on the bar side was closing. Too bad! Nope the bartender took it in her own business to keep it open for us. But feelng bad keeping a cook there for just two people we told her to not to worry and we would eat on the actual restaurant side. She reassured us that it was fine but finally we convinced her we had no problem going to the restaurant side. When we were seated, the waitress we had came promptly and was very kind. She brought us our drinks and food promptly as well and constantly had a smile on her face even though we were the last party to be at the restaurant. Well, with full stomachs and a great night, we were ready to pay our check and be on our way. But our wonderful waitress (I wish I remembered her name!!!!) came out with a delicious dessert because she remembered it was for my birthday. Great waitress, great food, great experience. A great way to spend my 24th!
Went with pregnant fiancee. Waited 1 hr to get table. They do not wait on you. You order and pick up. Seated us a the farthest table from ordering station. Once again my fia cee is pregnant. Place is total joke. Think they could have sat us closer did not tell thaey did not wait on you so sat fir 20 mi s till someo e finally came over. Would have given zero or negative stars if i could. Thanks for gorri le experience.
Awful!! Doesnt even deserve one start.... Servers and bartenders were the worst I have ever seen. They were rude to customers. We had a sorority function with alumnae and it was an embarrassment to have the function there. Girls were cut off after two drinks. I understand the right to not serve people. However, know who you are cutting off.. not that you just dont want to spend the money on drinks. We paid a lot of money for open bar and it was ridiculous the way they handled the situation.
I will say both times weve been the wait staff has been outstanding. The management however is severely lacking and almost caused a party of 15, the largest of the morning, to walk out. The manager, a gentleman without a name badge but with a goatee, insisted that while we had made a reservation days in advance, he couldnt seat the party together and would have to split us up. His reasoning changed the longer we asked why, starting with the multiple reservations for window seats that morning, followed by the kitchen wouldnt be able to handle 15 orders at once, sounding more and more like he just wanted things his way. All the while, he was berating the gentleman who put tables together for us and joked with us to improve the experience. Even by the time we left, there was literally only one other party of 7 in the dining room with plenty of tables both indoor and outdoor tables available.Food: ***, hollandaise sauce was more lemon than anything else.Dessert: *****, cheesecake was huge and great.Wait staff: *****Management: *
Excellent Service; Our Waiter/Server; Joesph, on 7-6-18- Went the Extra Mile to Attend to All of Our Needs and Requests. The Food was Excellent, the Service was Terrific, our View of the Water was Absolutely Fabulous and the Prices wereGood!! The Staff Was well Attired, Couteous, Polite, Friendly and Attentive. The Atmosphere and Surroundings in the Restaurant itself were Excellent; a Pleasant, Open, Modern/ Nostalgia, Very Clean Family Establishment. I Highly Recommend Templeton Landing for Any of Your Events, or Group Outings!!!Sincerely, Patricia A Gaiisdorfer
Im surprised by many of the reviews. My service was very good; the server was fast and knowledgeable. The food was alright but nothing that justified the prices. The reason that I really liked the place was that on my Saturday night visit, my friends and I were able to head to the patio (around a fire pit) after dinner and have a few glasses of wine without being disturbed until the glass was nearly empty.
We attended a wedding here recently and unfortunetly as a guest you could easily see there was room for improvement. Open bar did not include their signature drink like it was supposed to. Even with the error they abruptly closed the bar at 5:59pm. They could use more shade on the rooftop. Soap dispenser in bathroom was left open like someone just forgot to fill it earlier in the day. Dinner lasted a long time. I was done eating before the table behind me was served. The food was very tasty though.
We are here again. When weather is nice. We, the Buffaloians come to our favorite place for awesome service and phenomenal food. My had a decadent dessert which was the Raspberry Chocalate Cake had fresh raspberries. Sorry no pics. We were in devour our food mode. We highly recommend visitors to Buffalo come to favorite place. Templeton Landing you will have a great experience. Enjoy!
The star is for the view. Service was awful. My burger was raw. I asked to be seated on the Deck so we could order off of the Deck menu. When we asked for a drink the waitress said we had to go to the Deck? We thought we were on the Deck. When the food finally came my medium well burger was raw in the middle. Sent back....another 20 mins. No apology, no comp. Just a $50 bill for one burger, one flat bread, two drinks. Never going back.
When we called for reservations, we were told we could only sit inside as they do not provide the full inside menu on the patio. As we were celebrating an 80th birthday, we choose to stay inside for the full menu. When we arrived, we told the hostess that we had reservations under C******** for 5:00 pm for 7 people. She asked if we wanted inside or outside, and we said we were told there is no full menu on the patio and that our reservations were for inside. She told us that was not true when in fact, they do offer the full menu on one part of the patio and the other part was bar food. We were seated inside at a very small table and the seventh chair was place at the end, which was blocking the aisle. We asked our server to either put two tables together or move us to a bigger one. This began a series of problems as the majority of our general questions were then answered with I have to ask the hostess. At our bigger table, we began our drink orders. Since it was Happy Hour, we ordered drinks from the Happy Hour Menu. One woman was told her order for Sangria only included the red Rojo sangria, which was not stated on the Happy Hour menu, and another woman asked if they had cherry vodka and trip #2 to the hostess to find out. After 22 mins. she finally came back with our drink orders and another 20+ mins. to finally get our appetizers. Two women ordered salads, one before and one with their entrees. When the one before came out, it was huge. The woman who wanted hers with the entree did not realize the salads were so big and asked her to bring her salad out because of this. The server said she could get her a smaller dinner salad, which was not shown, on the menu nor was it offered when originally ordered. Their so-called Traditional Cesar Salad does not include anchovies so it should not be called Traditional. The French Onion soup was delicious and hot. So far, our first check in the plus column!Several women had problems with their meal. One wanted no starch and asked for only veggies, 2 had the steak with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. The no starch meal came with potatoes and one steak meal had her meat bloody when she reiterated med-well. Both were taken back for their correct order. The ladies who had the smashed garlic potatoes said they were very bland with no flavor or garlic taste. The 1/4 cup of potatoes were smaller than the meat. The so-called veggies included four thin green beans!Asked for regular butter in addition to the provided herb, was told they would have to ask the hostess! We eventually got it.We were told they had a small birthday cake and we ordered what we thought would be a small birthday cake hopefully with a candle. What we got was one piece of cake. I do have to mention the birthday woman said the cake was delicious and was provided free of charge! Two women ordered after dinner regular and decafe coffee, which took again, over 20+ mins. While waiting for the coffee, a man came behind me and asked us how everything was. When I started telling him about the coffee, he interrupted me by saying they had to brew pots of coffee because it was too hot to drink coffee! Then he abruptly walked away and went to another table. If you DO NOT want an answer to your question then DO NOT ASK IT!!Overall, it took over three hrs. from start to finish because, our server was slow and was given several tables on the patio to take care of to.This restaurant will not see us back again!
Ideal location, food adequate..Overpriced when you can go down the road to Charlies Boat Yard and get food/drinks substantially cheaper.Use to draw a good crowd when they had good groups playing on the patio .Fri., Sat. & Sun..Would not surprise me if they close.Keep it up scale in restaurant with a good chef..Patio/boat area ..needs a better food menue moderately priced .Drink specials for the summer..Pure volume of people over the summer would pay for its overhead & B profitable from a Cash stand point..Unfortunate....due to its great location on the lake..Starting to feel like the old Crawdady , on its last leg..Needs to B a destination not just a typical restaurant over the summer
Bartenders, hosts, and waitresses were courteous, friendly, and very helpful. A + for the staff. Now where to start...When I arrived I ordered a beer from the bar.The Beer menu clearly stated that the price was $7 for my beer of choice. I was charged $7.50. Not a big deal but an early indicator of how poorly this place is managed. We sat down at our table and ordered drinks. My friend and I paid $2 more per beer for bottles because the Blue draft was out. Essentially paying a premium price when I prefer draft beer. The french onion soup was great. Everything else that came out (in a timely manner) was a disaster. The spinach and artichoke tasted like freshly pulled sea weed from Lake Erie. I ordered my burger medium and it came out as black as night. My friends fish fry was microscopic, covered in a half a bottle of cajun spices, and dryer than the Sahara. Im pretty sure the seafood platter was ordered earlier that day from Long John Silvers and then placed on our table. The amount of our bill was enough to pay for a boat and fishing poles and catch our own dinner. The food was straight poverty. The sunset was beautiful.
I dined with my wife, Janine, for Family and Friends lunch. The grilled flatbread appetizer was delicious and different. My flatiron steak was boss as was my wife’s cornmeal crusted walleye. Our NY cheesecake was homemade, indeed! Matt was our server and was the epitome of friendliness and service!!!! We’ll be back for sure!
My wife and I just left Templeton Landing and were sadly disappointed. Being Memorial Day at 4pm, we went out to the patio, only to find out that both the Big Ditch Hayburner and the EBC special draft were kicked, leaving us with only 3 options of beers, so I ordered a gin and my wife a Sam Adams. However the waitress demanded that she pick up our drinks for the inconvenience, and told the bar tender to not worry about it bc they are at a table... comes to find out she not only was incredibly unprofessional, she was dishonest as well and charged us for the original drinks and the replacement drinks that we never even ordered. When we returned to our table, she stated that the kegs were not tapped and that she would go inside to get our beers. I started it was ok, I was fine, but my wife said she would be happy with a replacement if it was available. She later returned with two beers, and ran off to another table. Shortly after, she tried to take away our barley eaten appetizer, AND THREW A CRUMBLED RECIEPT IN IT before we politely asked her to not take it because we were still working on it. When we went to order, they were out of something she stated, so we couldnt get the pork tacos, and ended up with only getting one entree. The two replacement beers, that we never ordered, she charged us for, and we paid full price for everything but left disappointed. Nice patio, but incredibly unprepared. Another couple at the bar was overheard complaining about the service and lack of choices due to excessive missing items from the menu. Wish we just stayed at the Liberty Hound.
I hadnt had a fish taco in a long time, and theirs didnt disappoint. Fresh tortillas filled with chunks of haddock, crunchy slaw, and just enough heat to give them zing. The pops of corn kernels added a nice touch of sweet..Companion raved about her gigantic reuben, and shes pretty particular about her reubens, so it must have been good. And even though she claimed to be starving, half went home with her.
The outdoor restoration is overwhelmed. Either they did not plan for the event or they cannot get help. Not unusual to wait 20 minutes gto get a bartender attention.Only one cook in the outdor kitchen. About 20 minutes to get a waitress, another hour for the food.Dont blame the employees. They are working hard.
Myself and friends went for New Years Eve, worst decision of our lives. The facility’s furnace broke, all night people were forced to wear thier jackets. It was so cold my mother’s teeth were chattering. The food was mediocre nothing i would write home about. The facility does not pay to have the cable on during the winter. Therefore we could not watch the ball drop. When asking the management if there was a window or spot to watch the fireworks over the down town skyline. They made up a reason of “the city of buffalo canceled the fireworks” to avoid allowing us to move a curtain to watch.as far as entertainment the had a magician ... who only did card tricks. The best part of the night was the service provided by the bartender, i would strongly not recommend this place for New Year’s Eve. It was not worth the1100$ my party spent
Took our drink and appraiser order. No utensils given and an eye roll for request of napkins. Yet 45 minutes and our entree order has not been taken. Sooo reservation made to another place. Definately a quanity of quality place. Relying on atmosphere of water rather than service.
Getting better every year. The food was always 3 star and the service 2 star but the view 5 star. This year food is 4 star (if selective) clams from the bar very good, ceaser salad good (no anchovies and ok crotouns) but the service (April) was 5 star worthy. Again...if your expectations are based on the great view put up with the lesser star items.
Perfect venue for our daughter and her fiancés small wedding reception. The Marina room overlooked the water and provided a beautiful backdrop for a wonderful experience....great food, excellent service and attention to every detail by their planner, Aman. The servers, Kim and Anita were warm and totally accommodating. Would absolutely recommend Templeton Landing.
I am not a picky person, but went to Templeton Landing tonight with my family and will never step foot in this restaurant again! From start to finish, the dinner experience was beyond terrible. Drinks were not made correctly and tasted off, the table bread was stale and hard, my daughters macaroni and cheese tasted awful (how do you screw up mac and cheese?), my other daughters chicken was over grilled and chewy, the mashed potatoes they gave her were Instant (instant mashed potatoes??? Are you serious?) my fish was soggy and lukewarm, another meal was prepared incorrectly and had to go back, the bread served with artichoke dip was completely stale, the rice served on my wifes dinner was hard, chewy, and flavorless. Its quite amazing and impressive, I guess, because there is a lot of planning and food purchasing that takes place behind-the-scenes to run a restaurant, so how can you be so consistently terrible on almost every accord? Out of five stars I would rate this place -5 stars. Run dont walk.
Was here this summer strictly to see a band. Ended up sitting and eating. Was literally served seasoned vegetable oil instead of olive oil with the bread. I asked the waitress and she agreed the restaurant was probably too cheap to use olive oil. Seriously? I eat out a lot and have never experienced anything like this. How do you get away with this?
Excellent waitress service, awesome view, friendly people, terrible food. The steamed clams as well as my steak with green beans and fingerling potatoes were extremely salty and very unappealing. Not worth the overprice. Coffee was $3.50 for tapered fluted glass mug that was maybe two mouthfuls!!
Rarely if ever have I had such poor service AND poor quality of food and drink as my family had on Memorial Day 2018 afternoon at Templeton Landing. 1st my wifes was served a drink that was supposed to be a White Russian. IT tasted like milk, with ice cubes and some sort of alcohol. Sent it back and asked instead for a Tito n tonic, but was told they where out of Tito? Agreed on Absolute. When the waitress returned with the Absolute n tonic she told us the the bartender didnt have the correct ingredients for the white Russian!? SO they tried to pass off something else? 2nd After waiting over 45 min for our food order my G daughter was served a cheeseburger, when she ordered a hamburger. No problem I tired to remove the cheese off the top of the burger BUT discovered there was cheese on the bottom. Sent that back and it took 15 more min to be served the correct burger! My sandwich (barbaque pork?) was served 10 min after everyone else AND it was terrible. Left it after a few bites and told the waitress! She didnt know what to say except she was sorry. 3rd After waiting over 15 min to get the check, we get charged $13.50 for a Patron Margarita???? SO (3) children, (3) adults, (2) adult drinks a piece - I had (2) beers, nacos, chicken wings, cob salad, cheeseburger?, Cajon perch and my pork? sandwich n (3) soft drinks and after over 2 hours FOR LUNCH $170!! NEVER EVER WILL we be returning. FYI We have dined with you before however, SOMETHING has changed.
Cool location as everyone knows but food is always sub par and incredibly overpriced for the quality. Depending on the day you could wait a very long time to get anything from a waitress especially if there is something going on at Templeton. The band is generally really loud as well if you plan on going outside when there is one. Plan on not talking to who youre meeting up with.
I would say this should get a 2.5 but I decided to round down. The outdoor bar was a joke. They seemed to be out of everything or well they have that at the indoor bar if you want to move in there. They didnt even have iced tea or lemonade for my friend who doesnt drink. Seems like something they should have when its 90 degrees in August. When I did finally find something they had I was given the wrong beer...kind of a big difference between a summer shandy and a 9.1 abv IPA.As for the food it was nothing special. I had the Salmon special which was good except for the fingerling potatoes being undercooked and asparagus being overcooked. Two co-workers got the filet which was way overcooked for medium rare and medium so they sent them back. I would say our server was the bright spot as she was very attentive and friendly. I could tell she was embarrassed when she brought out those overcooked filets.I believe this place relies on its great location alone to bring in customers. I hope they make some serious improvements or theyll eventually become another statistic.
I can’t say enough about the wonderful wedding we had at Templeton Landing! Kristen Sass was top notch. She was there every step of the way! She always answered my calls promptly and all my questions and trust me there were ALOT! The night of the wedding our captain was Anita and the head chef couldn’t have put out a more fabulous meal for our 100 guests! Everything was professionally and ran like clockwork! It was a great time ! Highly recommend this venue for anything your planning! Kudos! The Palame family
Templeton.... what Happened??This is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing location right on the water. If you can sit near a window or outside the view is amazing and it is a great spot of a few drinks. That being said I just returned from lunch and I am wondering...what happened? Templetons prices have always been a little high but the tradeoff was always amazing food with a view. I have to say that I was very unimpressed with lunch today. While our food wasnt BAD ... it really wasn’t worth the price paid and really lacked that wow factor. For example my $15 crab salad was just ok. When it arrived I was surprised how unattractive it was (if you will). Had mixed greens been used instead of plain iceberg the visual appearance would have been that much more appetizing. Additionally it really lacked flavor, the dressing wasnt really flavorful and it really needed a few red onions or something just to bring it to the level I have come to expect from Templeton. Beef Sliders we also ordered and while tasty...I was really surprised at the lack of visual appeal. Picture two small little burgers (like the lens of your glasses) on a large white plate.... period. Why not serve them on a smaller plate on top of a piece of red lettuce? I realize maybe I sound like I am being very critical but I have been here before and enjoyed many meals but this time left feeling disappointed. Had I been here for dinner and waiting over and hour just to sit (as many un happy reviews have noted) Id likely be VERY disappointed hence the reason for this review...I am hoping management reads it and does something =o) all and all yes I will be back…can’t beat the location!
Made a reservation, and they still wanted to separate the party. Rude manger berated staff in front of the party for putting tables together (awkward). I get it if its crowded, but were literally the only ones in the dining area. Only apology came from our server. What kind of kitchen staff cant handle a large order? Seriously?
Ive never been so discussed April our waitress charged us twice on our credit card. When we asked her to credit the mistake she had a manager come over after waiting a half an hour he gave us the original bill back that was charged in error and said I fixed it . We asked for the receipt saying credit he said oh I dont have that you have to trust me . We checked the bank this am not only did that charge go through with a tip added to it but our real bill was changed as April the waitress changed our tip total to increase her amount.so she walked away with a double tip and forged a bigger tip on our original bill the absolute nerve . Our bank called them on conference call with us and told them how to credit right away so we dont have to wait 5 days The account manager said she couldnt do that with their computer and we would have to wait. She also verified that our original receipt was altered but stuck up for waitress saying she didnt mean to do it. Promised to call back with a follow up after taking this to management and we never got a call back . Templeton Landing lacks integrity and very poor management. We are deeply disappointed as frequent patrons of this establishment for years. We will not recommend this place to anyone. I will be following up to make sure April is not retained as an employee
We all walked in and reserved a table outside and Im looking around and people were complaining about there bill...as were still standing waiting for the table people were coming and going and Im smh so I go up to one of the lady and she tells me that they an issue with the ordering bill they wont print to the kitchen...so I told her why didnt you or one of your co-workers come and tell us about this earlier instead of having my group wait for 25 to 30 minutes ....we were upset and we else were....
I did not make a reservation so when I found out that there was a half hour wait I was not surprised. After waiting one hour I went to the hostess to see how much longer, they could not find me on the list and they told me I would be seated next. I sat down at an inside bar table right by the hostess station where I watched her seat 3 couples before my date and I... this was another half hour wait. After complaining to management they scurried to make a table for me in the in the main walk way inches from another family, leaving us feeling very uncomfortable. We immediately left. We will never dine at this establishment again.
My wife and I chose Templeton Landing as the site of our rehearsal dinner and we could not have been happier with our choice. The banquet team at Templeton did an excellent job of accommodating us and our guests throughout the event. Banquet Manager, Jennifer, was tremendous as she provided great suggestions of what has worked will with the space in the past as well putting together a plan that matched the atmosphere that we wanted to have for our rehearsal dinner. Additionally, having the outside patio reserved for our party provided an outdoor setting to relax and enjoy a waterfront setting in downtown Buffalo. We would highly recommend Templeton Landing to anyone considering a rehearsal dinner in the downtown Buffalo area.
We were there 8/6/16. Waitress asks drink order, we say just ice water with lemon plz. She had a wine bottle size of water with her and poured into our about 6oz glasses, no ice and luke warm, Ill be back with lemon. Comes back takes dinner order, says they are stilling slicing lemons, what about ice? Takes dinner order from the very limited menu. 2 fish fries, cheeseburger and shrimp & scallop flatbread. This is sports bar food not a night out for dinner. 20 minutes later we finally get three slices of lemon for 4 people. Still no ice water. Brought an extremely small loaf of bread with 2 dipping sides, friend asked can I just have some butter, yes u can. Dinner arrives fish looks nice and friends said it was good. but better off going to local tavern for a lot better and cheaper. Flatbread friend wouldnt comment, looked raw, cheeseburger ordered medium was over charred on the outside and well done on the inside. One bite left with dinner waiter comes over and says looks like u guys could use some ice water, with a picture he fills our small glasses and waitress leaves a bottle of warm water. Still no butter for the mini loaf of bread. 2 stars for the view, cuz u have an amazing view doesnt mean u give up on everything else. Menu is very limited also. We will not be returning, major disappointment.
Great place to eat on the water. Reserved a table for outside. When we got there, was told you couldnt reserve for outside. We would have to wait 45 minutes. When we protested, was given a table. There was another table that was empty for an hour. Very disappointed with this experience.

2022-07-10There is a difference between making a reservation and sitting on the self seat deck ..it is like one side of the tracks versus the other ..the deck was dirty palstic tables the other was metal clean tables ..with umbrellas ..the deck side is a kind of like bring the kids have a beer and a burger ..with a limited menu ...make the reservation!! .it would be that much better ..I did not ..all things considered the waitress was prompt polite and fun ...food and drinks came fast .. Tasted good

2022-07-07The is a buffalo must. Perfect location for a view and an after dinner walk along the water. Food is suburb, tastes fantastic and of high quality. Atmosphere is relaxing and serene. Our server was Tony, he was so personable and made for a wonderful experience. We will be back for more!

2022-07-09We went there for our anniversary and had been there before for cocktails and beautiful sunset so I was excited to get there for dinner. We got there early and were seated immediately which was wonderful. Our waitress seemed a little scattered but we overlooked that. It took her a while to get our drinks to us and take our order. We ordered the clam chowder which was just warm and then I ordered the crab cakes and a side salad and my husband had the perch. After waiting over an hour for our main entrees, during which our waitress served another large group which came in AFTER us, we still hadnt received our meals yet and I asked the host to send the manager over to us. Our food was then served by another server and no manager visit. The one bite of perch I tried from my husbands plate had a bone in it and is was cold and dried out and I was served ONE crab cake for $21!! (The online menu says cakes, but the in-house menu was singular) Still no visit from our waitress or the manager and now were waiting again for the bill and by this time my husband just wanted to leave. I again asked the host to see a manager who finally came up front and after explaining my side she said she would adjust the bill. Then, here comes our waitress with our bill, the full bill, and asked how our evening was. What a joke. Luckily the manager made it mostly right but we will definitely not be going back there again.

2022-07-05Our first time at Templeton, and our whole experience was excellent! From the welcome we received at the desk from the two accommodating young men there, to the very friendly gentleman who took us to our seat and then continued to stop by during our meal to see how we were doing, to our wonderful attentive waitress who kept a close eye on us and was so quick to get anything we needed, and the young man who brought our food out and stopped back later to see if we enjoyed it and our drinks! We felt like we got the absolute best customer service we had seen in many years at a dining experience, and to find such a gem in our own backyard was a surprise which we wished we had discovered sooner! Our food was delicious and abundant, fully worth the cost, you wont leave hungry here, and its presentation was clearly given thought. And the drinks! They were very well-crafted, with some unique choices on the menu and were a very good size with plenty of kick for the price. Nothing watered-down here. The view of the waterfront and city hall was stunning, both from inside tables, the bar, as well as from the large outdoor deck. All-around an excellent 5-star experience, even on a holiday. Great job Templeton, we cant wait to return!

2022-07-06Celebrating with 12 family members for a very special event and the service was the very worst I have ever experienced. We had a reservation so one would expect they would be prepared. We were served incorrect food orders in 4 shifts and it took 2.5 hours. We spoke with the waitress and manager several times but they could not get our food and drink to us in an organized and timely manner. We had small children with us so paid the bill quickly and left. The food was good however we were double charged on many items and did not notice the errors until later. We were very upset that not only was the joy taken from our family eating dinner together but we were exponentially overcharged. Made a call and was told to come back for free food in the future. I will take the loss and never return.

2022-06-29We came here for my moms birthday and everything was amazing! Our waitress Bella was fantastic! She was very polite, friendly and very knowledgeable! They were out of a drink and she recommended a drink comparable! The outdoor patio was cozy and the view was beautiful! All the staff was phenomenal! I believe it was the manager who was so friendly walking around checking on tables making sure everyone was ok. He even was helping the girls bring food out! The food and drinks were amazing! We will definite be back soon! Thanks for a great evening!

2022-05-30So we came to this awesome property which we have been to before. We asked for a table on the patio, fine, 26 minute wait. Went to the patio bar. Service there was impeccable. Waited 30 minutes. Got call for our table. No shade, it’s 80 degrees and hot! Other people who came afterus are seated on shaded areas. We went back to the patio bar because those in charge of seating don’t have a clue!!! Ended up ordering food from the bar and sat at a lovely umbrella table at the bar. Bartenders took care of us and all was perfect!! Cudos to the patio bartenders! You blew it out of the park!! Made the rest of the restaurant staff look like amateurs!!!

2022-06-21Everything about our night out was wonderful at The Templeton Landing. Great apps, great drinks, amazing food and the views were perfect with the sun setting. Our waitress made note that dinner service may be lagged slightly due to some new chefs in training, and helped space our appetizers to dinner perfectly. We did not feel rushed or overwhelmed. The day was unfortunately chilly (June), and we opted to sit inside. Window seats were perfect. We will be back again!

2022-06-26Today myself and a few others went to Templeton landing as one of the destinations for pedal bike tours to grab some drinks at the bar. We literally sat there for 30 mins without anyone coming to ask us if we needed anything. We asked the bartender if they were going to come help us soon, she stated well its only two of us but there is a bar outside. We stated to her it would have been nice if someone could have mentioned that to us knowing we had been sitting there for a while. The bartender then rudely stated well you could have asked. Great customer service would have noticed people sitting at a bar for a while and suggest another bar for customers to get serviced quickly. I will never step foot in this establishment again.
