This review is for Park Slope and the business in general - Horrible business stole $200 of mine charging my CC for an obvious double booking and then when I showed up 10 min late to my actual appointment, I could not be seen at all. Thats ok, I was late... but I was assured I would be refunded the $100 and charged no other fees. I rescheduled the appointment. What do you know! I was charged another $100 3 days later and on top of that Tend canceled my new appointment and tried to get me to reschedule it. They told me they will only refund me when I complete my appointment. That sounds illegal to me because the first $100 was taken from me for no reason. The second $100 was taken from me after I was assured I would not be charged anything else! I still dont have my money back. Who knows how much more of my money they will take. Important: Nobody responds to emails and customers are given no way to contact the billing department to contest any erroneous charges.
I got breezy braces and would not recommend it. It feels like it’s still in beta and they’re working through the tech. I was told that I’d have them in for 8-11 months and it’s been almost 1.5 years. My bottom teeth are slanted and my top two most prominent teeth are still not leveled with each other. The wires popped out and brackets have come loose at a many points during my treatment. Was hopeful but would have stuck to a teeth straightening solution that has been around and proven to work.
Wish I could give zero stars. It’s clearly a scam. After 20 minutes of endless X-rays, for a general cleaning, they tell me I need to come back for 2 1 hour deep cleanings. They already had the pamphlet out before I got in. They clearly just want to make the most money off each customer and have no desire to act as a real medical practice. Do not go.
Everyone is very friendly, the service is top notch, and they answer all my questions. If you have a negative experience, they listen to feedback and help solve the problem. I enjoy watching TV during the cleanings. Everything is very clean. I wish they had sinks to make rinsing more pleasant.
This company is a joke! I was told numerous times on numerous occasions that I would only need to pay the co-pay for my wisdom teeth removal - even moments before I had the procedure this was confirmed. Immediately after my card was charged unexpectedly for over $800!!! My insurance company claims that I should have not paid anything. When I called tend they just said “we didn’t process the claim correctly is why you were charged $800, so now we need to wait for the insurance company”. So I am the one being punished! This place is incompetent - they also try to sell you in surgeries that are not needed. Do not come here!!!!
While visiting NYC the filling/cap on a front tooth fell out and Tend was able to schedule an emergency repair the following morning. The office was friendly, convenient, clean, and on time. The out of pocket cost was reasonable. I was in and out in about an hour and felt 100% better!
I have never been to a healthcare provider who directly and purposefully threatened my health. I really didnt want to believe the bad reviews but what an awful experience. Ive been coming to Tend for years and recently and unexpectedly Tend refused to adjust or service my braces after there was an insurance coverage problem- which was easily solvable. I was even told that I would never have the braces removed until the insurance issue was resolved. Wow, really appalling, and quite frankly a threat to patient health given that my braces now havent been serviced or looked at in 3 months after multiple cancellations and refusal of service! This now alters the entire course of the braces treatment and has potentially caused new health hazards. Steer well clear of this place and dont fall for the trendy space and Netflix- not worth having your oral health abused. Thousands of better options around.Predictably, Tend will now do one of the following:1.) Ignore this review.2.) Respond with a fake, apologetic attitude and pretend to offer a resolution.3.) Give me the same threats and attitude on a public forum, which they gave me privately.
Great idea, horrible execution.Technology is SO far behind. Can’t schedule over email or iMessage for convenience. Support staff sends useless emails asking you to call in. What year are we in? Model your tech after onemedical. Appointments take days to show up in app - I missed because of this and got charged $100.On top of that, they managed to screw up getting me a retainer. I’ve been close to without due to 2 months of total managerial incompetence. They need to change stat. Otherwise, honestly, you’re going to have a better dental experience anywhere else.
I look forward to going to the dentist. I keep visiting the tend app seeing what other dental work i can get lol. The experience at Tend is like no other! Everyone is super nice, helpful, and the hygienist and doctors explain everything for us that get scared. I love tend!!!
This place is a mess. The first appointment I had with them they cancelled at the last minute and rescheduled for a month later. Once I went to that appointment they scheduled me to come back a month later for fillings. Without telling me they cancelled my appointment the day-of without telling me until I got to the studio. I took off work and traveled to the appointment and they couldn’t reschedule me in a way that makes sense. So I’m now traveling to and from their office 3 times over 2 days. No manager on premesis nor a doctor or nurse that could speak with me. This place is a scam.
So upset with this place. Just got an email saying that my braces appointment is cancelled and the next one scheduled is now 2 months away. I was supposed to be getting my braces off only to find out that I have to keep them on for another two months. Not only that, but this is the SECOND time this happened. And the first time they cancelled without even rescheduling! Customer service never calls back, I’m left on hold on calls where they sometimes don’t even pick up.
Easy to schedule! Everything else was abysmal. The customer service ahead of the appointment was uncommunicative. They left me sitting with no information. They finally communicated they couldn’t do what they said they could on the phone after I left the exam room to ask what was going on.Going back to Dental365.
Unfortunately, it feels like a lot of the allure of Tend is all smoke & mirrors. It’s pretty polished but behind the scenes the experience can be subpar. The nail in the coffin had to be being told I would be charged a certain amount for my visit, and coming home to a charge nearly double. No help for several weeks and eventually told there was nothing they could do.Sometimes this stuff is fine elsewhere, but not something I want to deal with when it comes to my health & wellbeing.Your mileage may vary but there’s no chance I’m going back
Upselling described by others is true. I was extremely upfront and specific with multiple team members before my visit - via phone and email that all Id like is a cleaning, and that Im willing to pay out of pocket for it. Had the same discussion with the hygienist before my treatment, telling her I dont care about the exam, and am only doing it because they requested. At the time, she (and anyone of the 3 reps I spoke with before the exam) could have disclosed that they may not actually do a cleaning based on the exam. Sure enough, after the xrays and exam, she said that she needs to do a deep cleaning and that - surprise - Id have to pay more. A series of phone tag calls with management has failed to resolve things and has wasted even more time than the initial dead end exam did. So I got exposed to xrays I did not need. Was not able to use them. Did not get the cleaning. Wasted 1.5 for the appointment. And another hour at least on calls after. And still no resolution.
Literally the same dental procedures you can get done at any dentist, but such a more relaxing and enjoyable vibe. Staff was attentive and helpfully explained every part of the process. Gorgeous modern office. Laid back and watched Netflix during my cleaning - didn’t even notice time was passing! Definitely a “millennial” dentist.
It was my best experience at a dentist ever, but the best part was my Invisalign consult, the doctor who saw me was great, but her assistant REALLY REALLY needs a raise or a promotion or something, I can’t believe I forgot her name but she’s a beautiful Hispanic young lady whose words I will never forget.
My braces experience has been anything but “breezy”. While the actual dental work is good, the administration side of things seems to be a mess. I’ve had appointments cancelled on me and rescheduling them does not seem to be a priority for this team. I’m now 4 months behind schedule. Horrible customer service
First visit today and have only good things to say! I changed from a nightmare dentist that kept literally scamming me to TEND, who so far has been a joy from signing up, getting my insurance info sorted out to my first visit today. They’re transparent with pricing and the staff is actual humans, asking about your day and being nice. A+
I had a terrible experience trying to get my wisdom teeth removed here. I had a consultation in July 2021, I put down a $500 deposit and scheduled my surgery for November. They called me a week before my appointment and needed to reschedule - I was a little annoyed at the short notice, but no big deal things happen, so I rescheduled for January. My surgery is coming up and I check in for my appointment, receive my pre-visit instructions and a confirmation 2 days before. Then less than 24 hours before my appointment they text me and tell me the oral surgeon isnt going to be in (no apology or explanation why), so they need to reschedule again. It is unacceptable to cancel on such short notice for surgery. Its absurd that they want me to book a third appointment with them after cancelling on me twice! At this point Ive been waiting 6 months to get my painful wisdom teeth out and I’m not willing to take a chance that they’ll cancel on me again. I told them to refund my deposit so I can take my business elsewhere. I also use Tend as my dentist and this experience has ruined them for me – I will not be returning to the oral surgeon or dentist there.
Been using Tend recently and I really appreciate the business model. They are upfront about costs with you before you make a decision on something. They offer and inform you of their services/your options, but are not pushy. Being able to do things with an app is convenient also, but I think I’d still use them without it. The staff is great, the decor is thoughtful, and I always look forward to another visit… As long as the visits are several months in between. I mean, it’s the dentist. 🤷🏻♂️
Terrible experience. save your money and go to an establishment owned by the dentists.they tried to upsell me at every turn — fillings, their orthodontia product, some retainer. my dentist gave me weird vibes and felt more like a salesman than a doctor.even though my insurance covers x rays, cleanings, and exams, I still somehow got charged $70 for those services. they told me I needed 2 fillings, which after insurance would cost several hundred more.before my fillings visit they informed me they no longer took my insurance (thank god), so I cancelled. a similar thing happened to my partner.I take the x-rays to a dentist-owned establishment, he tells me I do not need fillings, and even gives me a free(!) x-ray to confirm.do not give your money to these crooks.
I went into the office with a lot of excitement. It is just a great idea, a more progressive, modern take on the dental industry. My first visit went well, I was able to schedule a cleaning the same week I called and the dentist and hygienist were both very nice. However, I am sad to report, this is where my positive experiences ended. One of the biggest problems with this office is their front of house. They rarely communicate, or take note of their calls. One example is that after telling a rep that I would be getting my cavities filled elsewhere. I was called 3 additional times asking when I wanted to schedule these fillings. When I call the office I am typically on hold for about 10 minutes and in order to do this you have to click (2) over and over otherwise the call ends. Regarding the dental side I found this office was built around excessive billing. Their rates are already much higher than any other office in the area. But when I visited another dentist, whom I trust much more, I was informed that nearly all the procedures tend said were “necessary” were in fact not. They were preventative at best, but would likely never need to be addressed so long as I continued my typical cleaning regimen. Overall if you have the patience to wait on their front of house and your insurance covers all of their work it would be a fine experience. However if you want a responsive front office, or affordable and honest dds care I highly recommend going elsewhere. I hope this helps!
After multiple visits to the Williamsburg and Flat Iron studios, Tend has been one of the worst displays of service Ive ever experienced. The confusing, inconsistent, and dishonest costings have been a disgrace. To help frame my experiences over the past couple of months, Ive unpacked the WHY PEOPLE LOVE TEND section from their website with a few of my own anecdotes.TRANSPARENT PRICING - This is the biggest fallacy of them all. Its felt like Im dealing more with a used-car salesman, than a healthcare professional.- Despite telling me my treatment plan was covered by Insurance, Im still getting ad-hoc charges ($$$) for random visits- After investigating myself, I saw they overcharged me for THREE hygienist visits when I only had ONE- When I visited the Studio in Williamsburg they denied having access to my records and flatly refused a refund (more on that below)- Ive also been quoted several different amounts for a wisdom tooth extraction, at the same Studio with the same Dentist-Costs have varied between total amount, and how much is Co-Pay (one visit was quoted 80%, the next was 50%)AMAZING STAFF - Unless you can visit a Studio, good luck actually speaking with a person (as noted below, staff are GENERALLY sweet and polite with a few exceptions)- After being on hold for 30 minutes about excessive charges to my account, I was told to hang up and use the Online Chat feature on their website. Result? Useless, zero response- Try contacting via Email? Allow at least a week for a response, if youre lucky- Theres also no way to call a Studio directly, so you need to go through the general hotline- They dont provide reference numbers, so you have no record of previous interactions. Result? You end up in a cycle of frustrating back and forth- Luckily I live near the Williamsburg Studio and am able to discuss in-person, but on one visit I was greeted with an abrasive attitude from the receptionist who refused to look into why Id been overcharged i.e. Were unable to see what exactly those charges were for! and You need to ring this Hotline - which as noted before, is a cycle of frustration- Its important to note that overall, the Reception staff are normally polite and helpful i.e. the Williamsburg Studio Manager (Liz) was a saving grace and did kindly try to look into the issue with me (though after 3-weeks, a refund wasnt reached)SOOTHING ENVIRONMENT - Clean and high-tech studios, sure - but beyond is utter chaos. Processes are just as archaic and inefficient as ever.- After a follow-up about a sore tooth after my cleaning, I had to wait 3-4 hours for my painkiller prescription to be sent to doctors, meaning taking a whole afternoon off work and missing a cycle of meds- I requested my X-Rays (yes, Ive given up and moved to another dentist), and was told unless I have a fax machine or a printer at home they cant release them. Meanwhile, even my 90-year old Landlord has evolved into using DocuSign post-covid.- I was also accidentally somebody elses dental records so not totally convinced they take patient confidentially- They were later able to send via a secure message, but does make you wonder why you have to jump through hoops in the first placeNO JUDGMENT - Well, I should hope so, youre a two-bob dentist...In summary, its a real shame. Beyond the high-tech equipment and glossy studios, this place is an absolute con. I hoped wed finally found a leader in revolutionizing dental care, but instead, were stuck with the lipstick on a pig metaphor at best. Give this experiment a miss (Ive canceled my Wisdom tooth extraction and future appointments), and stick with your local dentist who doesnt cover excessive aesthetics through deceptive costs and terrible service. Finally, they do other a generous customer referral fee ($50 I believe), so please do tread lightly if a friend refers you to them...
This is the third time I show up to an appointment which was scheduled 7 weeks in advance only for them to claim that they called me and rescheduled my appointment 3 weeks later at a random date without consulting me. To add insult to injury I spoke to tend on the phone 5 days before my appointment to confirm it. The unapologetic audacity of the front desk at all 3 occasions speaks to the overall unprofessionallism and faceless service Tend provides.
I went for a cleaning. I was told that I had no cavities, no gingivitis, no problem in my mouth at all. The dentist refused to do the regular cleaning and tried to sell a deep cleaning for US$ 4.000. Such a BAIT AND SWITCH. I felt scammed and left. Then they charged US$200 without my consent. I will never go back and I will make sure no one I know goes there as well.
Really great experience! Cant wait to go back. The Williamsburg location is very nice and so modern. I love the fact that you can choose your cleaning paste flavor and watch Netflix while you receive your cleaning. All of the staff were very friendly and my dental assistant in particular, Brittany, was so sweet! The experience also was very quick and efficient. I spent less than a minute in the waiting room and the entire process of x-rays and cleaning took less than an hour. The x rays themselves were also MUCH more comfortable with the modern technology they have. I didnt have to worry about the discomfort you usually experience when you have to clamp down on those plastic/metal devices while they take the photos. Cant wait to go back for my follow up!
So basically I came in for a simple cleaning, and I spoke to them before they told me no problem, I arrived they told me they cant do it only for a few thousand dollars...! & I need to come back a few times....! So I told them give me back my money, she told me I will be fully refunded after 7 business days....! Its now more then 2 months and I still didnt get my money back....! Stay away from them they are stealing your money and not doing the work theyre saying. they charged US$205 without my consent. I will never go back and I will make sure no one I know goes there as well. please spread it around.
I liked Tend the few times I used them before but then my last experience felt like a snake oil salesman situation when it came to billing!I broke a tooth - made an appointment for the next day (December 28) to get it fixed - I went in that morning, met the dentist and then a woman from the front desk came in and advised it would be $350, which I actually thought was reasonable. It was fixed very quickly and I was happy. My AMEX is on file, so I said thanks and left.A few minutes later I received an alert on my phone from AMEX for a charge of $350 AND $199. I called their office and advised of this and the woman said she would get back to me and then disappeared into thin air - never did get a call back. I wrote an email to corporate stating the issue of misrepresentation and I was charged a total of $549 for what I was told was going to be $350.10 days later, my email was finally answered - it was simple a statement saying here is your bill. My issue of feeling that the whole 2-charge thing was misrepresented was not even addressed - that is my bigger issue.I can afford the bill - that is not the issue. I just dont like having someone come in her with her laptop and actually say, this will be $350 and then I get charged $549 and then am ignored for 10 days.I canceled my tooth whitening appointment for next week and will go elsewhere!!!P.S. - as part of my email complaint I also added in that when I arrived first thing when they opened I sat in the reception area for just shy of 15 minutes with no receptionist - I finally got up and walked into the consultation room area and had to hunt for someone - they apologized, which was fine. Turns out the reception did not show up and they were unaware of it. My issue was that the email response completely ignored that as well. Basically everything was ignored - their only focus was to keep the $199! Fine, keep the $199 and lose the $499 for the toothwhitening appointment - smart business!THIS WAS NEVER ABOUT MONEY - IT WAS ABOUT BEING TRICKED!!!!THEN they sent a public message saying to contact them to resolve the issue….so I contacted them and then did exactly the same thing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING - guess they just wanted to publicly act like they would fix the problem! 🙄🙄🙄ADDING THIS IN AFTER RECEIVING THE PUBLIC COMMENT FROM TEND.....They sent the same note for my Yelp Review and then after 2 phone calls and multiple emails of them trying to resolve the problem and make me happy they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to resolve my issue. I see the public comment offering to discuss and help is just for public show :(
My experience was fantastic! From the decor to the friendly receptionist. My dental hygienist Nilsa was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and took her time to explain everything to me in detail. She provided recommendation and tips which I greatly appreciated. My dentist was so gentle and made the experience great. I definitely recommend Tend for dental work.
Dr Sara Hashimi is freaking awesome she is a great dentist.I didn’t have much pain and she relaxed my mind through the whole process with her soothing words by reassuring through the whole process that I would be okbc I was in great hands. her assistant was awesome too. I would recommend her to all who is scared of going to dentist.sheknows what she’s doing and she was quick can’t ask for anything better than that. Overall I had a great aexperience g getting my wisdom tooth pulled by her she understands what it’s like to be the patient and I love that about her
This is not a dentist office, it’s a business and they just want to make money off of you. When you call, you are not even talking to the dental office, you are talking to their “1800 hot line”My experience: I had a wisdom tooth infection and they made me wait 2 months to find an appointment with their oral surgeon for an extraction and guess what my tooth got reinfected which is a serious matter. I called over and over trying to get antibiotics and the lack of attention was beyond, they didn’t care, they didn’t “tend” to me like they say on the phone which is so cringe when they say that. Their hotline peeps were spreading wrong health information about taking another course of antibiotic and I had to wait 3 days to get more antibiotics.I am going somewhere else to get my tooth extraction, I don’t trust this place, and I am already noticing a different treatment from other dental office. Please go somewhere else if you are having teeth issues, this place doesn’t know how to take care of their patients, it’s a startup shop with zero experience (dental 101)
Everyone here was very kind, patient, and informative! I felt well taken care at every step of the process, and they took the time to explain each step and why they were necessary for my oral health. The office itself is well designed and relaxing to be in, and you can watch netflix while getting your teeth cleaned which is a really nice treat!I highly recommend checking out this dentist, I previously hated visiting the dentist but this experience has completely changed that for me.
Ive had numerous terrible experiences with Tend, but in particular had such an unprofessional almost laughable experience with this office. I made an apt for a yearly exam and was told when i arrived at the office that i was just getting a cleaning. After my sorta cleaning- really just a brushing- I asked the receptionist to confirm my insurance and to look up my past care plan and she wrote my name and phone number on a post it note, as she needed to leave soon - of course, I never heard from anyone. But, the problem is really with TEND generally. Its nearly impossible to get in touch with them- Ive had all sorts of admin issues and when I explained the problem that happened in Williamsburg, all I got was a sorry for that and during my next visit, they didnt even have a goodie bag for me. Haha! Anyway, dont use Tend. Theres something to be said for actually having access to your dentist office and not a customer service line. The miscommunication is truly ridiculous.
I went here for an emergency dental appointment. I just moved to NYC from Boston MA less than 2 months ago and had gone back to Boston during the Labor Day weekend to have my wisdom teeth removed. I couldn’t go back for a follow up, so i needed to find a dental practice fast. The moment I went in, i was blown away. The receptionist was beyond kind and professional. Once I was brought into a room the dental assistant, again was friendly and professional until the dentist came. The dentist, I believe his name was Bryant, was super kind. He answered all my silly questions I had about taking care of my wisdom teeth holes, how to clean them etc. he even demonstrated how to clean them out for me. I 100% recommend this place. They’re kind and beyond professional.
My first visit at TEND was very enjoyable. I was kindly greeted at the front with an inviting and warm welcome. The facilities are clean, modern, and provide a relaxing and comforting atmosphere with its soft, muted, pastel palette. Dr. Brad was extremely kind, and knowledgeable about my dental health. He thoroughly answered every question I had. Even though this was my first free consultation, I didnt feel pressured to purchase any of their services though will be highly considering it! I would definitely recommend TEND for a new and improved kind of dentist visit, one that you may actually look forward to, and for their professionalism, and excellent staff! :)
My first experience with Tend was very pleasant. The front desk staff was friendly, the waiting room was clean and my appointment was on time. Once in the dentist chair, the dental assistant inquired about my visit, took my x-rays, and offered me the option of watching TV while I wait with Beats headphones, which was a nice way to make the time pass while waiting for the doctor. Shortly thereafter I was seen by Dr. Lee, who was warm and conversational, while getting to the “root”, pun intended, of my dental concerns. Dr. Lee was clear and concise with her diagnosis along with her recommended plan of action, while also offering me immediate transparency into what amount my insurance would cover and what would be out of pocket. From that point, we set up a follow up appointment for the procedure, the front desk emailed me an itemized detail of my expected bill for said procedure and I was on my way.If my first experience was any indication, I expect my follow up will be just as good. I highly recommend Tend.
The office is really nice, clean and efficient. The dental tech was really sweet and the doctor was also polite, non judge mental and clear about what the best form of treatment should be.Only docked one star for the reception team, while nice upon arrival they were a bit less clear upon checkout. When I arrived I was told my visit was 100% covered, and then suddenly I ha a $25 copay- which is fine but it’s conflicting information. The receptionist just automatically ran the card I had provided on file without asking me if that’s the card I would like to use or whether it’s ok to run the card. That assumption was a bit irritating since I had intended to use a different card. Also the tech asked the reception team to send me a copy of the treatment plan-cost which I never received. All in all, the actual medical care was great and it was nice to talk to dentists who seem happy that you came in and don’t judge yourself your tooth journey.
First, the booking process leaves a lot to be desired, they didn’t explain how little an emergency visit would actually cover. Wouldn’t have spent the money if I’d known. But not only that, they missed that I had an infection in my wisdom tooth and needed antibiotics/have them pulled. If I hadn’t gone to see another dentist I would have been in much worse pain.
Fantastic service loved my hygienist and dentist, super friendly warm and answered all my questions. Would recommend. Also reasonable prices and were upfront on what things would cost, which has been rare in my experience. Also have all the latest high tech tools so felt very futuristic.
What an amazing experience ! I’ve always had nothing but pretty traumatic experiences with dentists which made booking the next appointment even more dreadful . Tend is NOTHING like your usual dentist!! They have a beautiful modern facility, with friendly and professional staff. There’s no waiting, everyone is efficient and the hand-off between staff members could not be more seamless. Last but not least, they use tech to make your experience even greater, from booking your next appointment to consolidating your diagnosis and treatment plan to breakdown of your cost. And they take most major insurances providers. I honestly CANNOT wait to go back !
There is so much I like about Tend: it’s beautiful, it’s clean, the staff is nice. However, I have had multiple terrible experiences with their time management. Most recently, after having my (six months in the making) appointment cancelled last minute, I was made to wait 40 minutes for a cleaning at another location while others were called in immediately after arriving. Prior to that, I had to wait almost an hour for another appointment. I’ve also observed others waiting for long periods of time and then having their appointments cancelled while they are already at the office. It’s truly disappointing to be treated this way.
This is the first and only negative review for a business I have ever written on Google/Yelp/etc, but my experience with Tend has been so poor I feel that others should be warned. Time and again they have been so difficult to work with.TL;DR:-Customer service is disorganized-Appt schedule is always full and hard to get on-Tend is terrible with emergency dental situations-Insurance team doesnt know what theyre doing-Orthodontists, dentists & dental assistants are amazingFull Review:Im currently using Tend for their Breezy Braces service. The appointment schedule is consistently full, so instead of getting an appointment every 6 weeks like I should be, Im coming back 7-8 weeks later. Meaning my treatment time is being dragged out.I have had situations where a bracket broke off my tooth and was hanging in my mouth by the wire. When I called (they dont allow you to make your orthodontic appointments online, so you have to wait on hold to make/change appts) to get an emergency appointment to get it fixed, they (1) didnt call me back for over 24 hours and (2) told me that the next available appointment wasnt for another 7 weeks.. Tend does not hold any additional emergency appointment slots on their calendar, so if you have any issues, you will have to wait to be seen.OR if they did have an available appointment sooner, I ended up having to go to different locations far out of my way to get things done since the orthodontist is only in my home studio (Williamsburg) 1-2 days per week [For example, when the attachments on my teeth for the rubber bands broke less than 2 hours after initially getting them attached, or when brackets broke off my teeth at other times, I had to go to the Wall Street office (45 minute drive from where I live, and $30 for parking in that area) This was in the height of covid when people were not taking the subway]Then I found out my orthodontist is no longer going to be working at the Williamsburg office, which means I would have to travel all the way to the Wall Street office to see her. Or I would have to get a new orthodontist in the middle of the treatment if I want to still go to Williamsburg office.I decided to stay with the Williamsburg Studio and use the new orthodontist. After I met with the new orthodontist for the first time (she was very kind and lovely), she informed me that she wasnt able to correct an element of my smile, which was the MAIN reason I decided to get Breezy Braces was to fix this issue. Before I signed up for Breezy Braces, I did 2 consultations with Tend (one virtual and one in-person) and was very clear that this is what I was hoping to achieve by getting braces. They assured me that this would be possible. So anyone considering Breezy Braces, please keep in mind that they will tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign up!Lastly, their insurance team is incredibly lazy. Be careful if you plan to use insurance. I originally paid out of pocket for my Breezy Braces, but halfway through treatment, I got a new job and new insurance. The new insurance company covered a portion of my treatment, so I provided Tend the insurance information in-person when I was at the studio AND added it to my online account. I asked Tend to bill the new insurance and they agreed to do so. 2 months later, I still did not hear back so I followed up - they then said they cannot bill the insurance because it wont be covered. First of all, why would they not respond to me to inform me that they were not taking action with the insurance? Why did I have to reach out to them to finally get this news? But I called my insurance and they confirmed they would. I told this to Tend and instead of putting the claim into my new insurance, they billed my old insurance. I had to call and email numerous times for them to understand the mistake they made.I will say that the team at the studio (the dental assistants, orthodontist, etc) are wonderful people, but they have no control over the customer service experience.
Possibly the worst cleaning I’ve ever had. Not thorough AT ALL. To have my teeth flossed and polished; I could have stayed at home and done it myself. Not to mention that to have a camera shoved in my mouth, with zero plastic covering and I was casually told was “wiped down” and the piece that goes in the mouth wasn’t even changed? Pretty frightening, especially during the times of covid. Place did not seem sterile or clean. Such a disappointing experience and upset that my insurance would even be billed for such a terrible cleaning (if it can even be called so). Save yourself the headache and stay away.
Robin, my hygienist, was the best and this review would be 6 stars if it were just for her. However their billing, as others have noted, was misleading. I went for three separate visits and at each time was assured by the front desk that my procedures were 100% covered. Two months later I received a nearly $400 surprise bill for two of those visits.
I will definitely be coming back! This place was clean, efficient, chic and everyone was super friendly. I also love how transparent they are with costs - they show you the breakdown of costs for anything you may need (like a filling) before you make any future appointments. The Netflix/headphones experience was also a perfect added touch.
Rare I write a review but I have never had a worse experience with a dentist (or any medical provider). Went in for routine cleaning, was told I needed a special service that required insurance pre-approval for a deep clean. They did not give me just a normal cleaning that day (which I have confirmed with other dentists, they should have had at least completed the standard cleaning in my original appointment ahead of the deep clean). I made future appointments for the deep clean (they said I needed three appointments total) and I showed back up in person for the first deep clean. They had not gotten insurance pre-approval finalized and did not bother to let me know that BEFORE I came back in-person for my next appointment. I even asked them if I needed to call them before I came back in to make sure the pre-approval was successful, they assured me that if they did not have it done they would call me to reschedule. They did not. Two visits to the office, teeth not cleaned at all yet. After a ton of back and forth on the phone (always a super long wait when you call), I ended up just cancelling all future appointments and changing to a different provider as now my insurance was going out of network with Tend with 2 weeks notice and they could not get all my needed appointments scheduled in time. I even asked to have my X-rays sent to a new provider. They assured me everything was cancelled. I even replied to the confirmation emails stating these appointments have been cancelled as I had a feeling they might mess up the cancellations. As anticipated, they then came back and charged me $100 No Show Fee for the final appointment, even though I had cancelled all future appointments and this third appointment was scheduled to review the process of the two prior appointments, which I never came in for. This place is a hot mess, requiring a ton of time trying to get their clerical and scheduling issues fixed. Now waiting on my No Show Fee refund... but impossible to get ahold of anyone. Maybe I just had an exceptionably terrible experience outside the norm (although appear to be several other similar 1 star reviews), but you should be aware they are so booked out that its difficult to get an appointment and they routinely mess up items with no way for you to correct as they do not reply to emails and the phone requires 60+ mins of waiting on hold.
Absolute trash of a company with flashy marketing but zero substance. Was forced to make an appt 2.5 months in advance and when I made the appointment I confirmed this would be for a filling as well as cleaning/check up. On the day of the appointment I call to just to double check that my filling would get done today (which was critical since my insurance expires in 2 days). They initially tell me “they’re not sure” about the filling and will follow up to check. I don’t receive any follow ups in 4 hours so I call back. Takes 2 more phone calls before anyone on their side actually reaches out to the Williamsburg location to check on the dentist’s schedule. Apparently the dentist doesn’t have any time to see me even though I have a 1 hr appt and he won’t be able to do the filling. Of course they won’t let me speak to anyone at the Williamsburg location and only after a good amount of back and forth so they waive the last minute cancellation fee for the appointment…This entire company is really poorly run more as a cost-saving business than a consumer-centric dentistry. Their customer support across all of their locations are run centrally and the reps that work there barely have any access to each location’s information much less the actual dentists at each location. They also don’t bother tracking follow ups so it’s up to the customer to reach back out on issues. All and all a pretty terrible experience. Going to Grand St Dentist nearby instead.
Called this morning on a whim to see if they had any consults available while Im working from home over the next two weeks. Id been experiencing pain from my wisdom teeth coming in over this past week. Luckily there was a cancellation for an appointment 30 min from then and they squeezed me in!They accommodated me arriving 10 min late (uber took a wrong turn) got all myinsurance info, and I had a consult with the oral surgeon who agreed I should have my wisdom teeth extracted. She offered to do it right then and there and her staff were able to tell me my out of pocket cost upfront, so I went ahead and got them pulled. Didnt feel a thing due to the local anesthetic and the laughing gas was a great time - highly recommended way to spend a Saturday!!
Best dentist appointment ever!! I used to hate going to the dentist but this place definitely changed my life!! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I had Anthony as my hygienist and he’s the best! I’ve never felt so comfortable getting my teeth cleaned. The whole process was stress free and very thorough. Plus you get to watch a show with noise cancelling headphones while they clean your teeth so you don’t hear any of the grinding sound. Their equipments are new and up to date. The place is clean and beautiful. Highly recommend to everyone! Love it!
I wish going to every doctor was this pleasant and simple. The staff was amazing. Helpful, efficient and extremely nice. Before doing any services that werent covered by my insurance they explained to me why they were recommending it and gave me the exact out of pocket cost Id incur if I chose to do it. I might finally stop postponing my regular visits
I was absolutely blown away by how modern, nice, and knowledgeable the staff/Dentist were. There is a TV on the ceiling to relax you. (With headphones if you’d like) The office is very clean and calming. It felt like the future. I can’t believe a dentist visit was pleasant enough for me to actually leave a glowing review of it. LOL. Highly recommend.
Tend is a new company with quite a few administrative hiccups. My actual appointments have been great but dont let any of their mistakes effect your experience–do your due diligence and ask more questions than not. Luckily their customer service team cleared up my situation but that was after a lot of back and forth through phone and emails. You can see my previous review here:I have been here for dentist check-ins as well as orthodontics (lingual braces branded as breezy braces) and though its easy to get swept up by the aesthetic, promises of transparent pricing, and a modernized dentist experience I would recommend you stay away.My dental hygienists and orthodontists have been fine, but administratively this company is a mess. Multiple canceled appointments, miscommunication, and generally not knowing whats going on (never sending in my scans to the lab, calling me multiple times to pay for a bill Id already paid for) will leave you best case scenario frustrated and worst case scenario charged thousands of dollars (in my case) because of their administrative problems. Not only that but Ive been trying to talk to someone to sort through my issues for weeks now. When asking to talk to an insurance agent they claim technical difficulties, and when emailing them they have stated multiple times that they will call me but I have yet to receive a phone call.
Studio is beautiful, but just had my teeth cleaned and the dentist was WAY too aggressive. Never asked how the pressure was and I told her it hurt and she basically just dismissed my comment. I was spitting out blood when I got out of the place. Ive been a few times and never had that experience so hoping it is a one off, but it felt like they just rushed me through my appointment. Not a great experience at all.
What a mess.Booked appointment for wisdom tooth extraction consult three months in advance. Tend sends five emails and two phone calls confirming appointment in the week leading up to it, and warning of no-show fees. I show up early, and am told after 20 minutes that I wont be seen for another hour and a half to two hours. Massive waste of time. So whats the fee when the doctor no-shows?Previously, the wrong credit card was charged (non-HSA) and it took (not exaggerating here) three weeks of emails and several calls in order to get it reversed. Reversal still hasnt shown up on my credit card, but Citibank did give me a chargeback credit.Nice lighting, nice color scheme, nice hygienists - totally handicapped by inept administration. Avoid.
The best dentist experience I’ve ever had! Obviously going to the dentist is never fun, but they make it a bit less horrible. Super nice staff, gorgeous installations, you can even watch netflix while you get your teeth taken care of, they explained everything they were doing, overall amazing place to get your teeth needs.
The customer service at Tend has treated me so poorly. Not only did the cancel my appointment, I waited a month to get another one. Then the refused to check my insurance to see that it had been updated, and said they were going to charge me $100 fee! Totally insane, they should be ashamed.
I’m from Florida in Brooklyn, NY, on a visit and had an emergency w/ my recent dental implant. I called Tend Dental Williamsburg yesterday, Friday pm. And they were able to fit me in today, Sat. Turns out that the healing cap of the implant was accidentally unscrewed. The whole experience was so easy, from calling the clinic to the visit with the front desk clerk, the dental assistant, and finally the dentist herself who was so comforting and reassuring in her demeanor. Thumbs up to the entire staff! Thank you!!!
Unfortunately, this place gets one star from me. Mind you -- the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The front desk staff was wonderful and the hygienist I saw was great. However, the dentist who saw me viewed my x-rays and performed a clinical exam, and then told me that I had NINE cavities and required an deep cleaning. This was going to result in six appointments, at the least, and thousands of dollars.Of course, that was shocking. I proceeded to get two second opinions. Both second opinions rejected what the dentist at Tend told me. In fact, the dentist I saw completed a regular cleaning and told me that I had NO cavities that needed to be addressed. The fact that this dentist at Tend would try to encourage unnecessary dental work in that regard is shocking, and frankly I havent ever been as disappointed in a company. Its a shame because most of the staff there is very friendly. But the treatment plan they tried to convince me to do was a scam.
I had an amazing visit and absolutely love the dentist I had. She talked through everything she recommended and gave me all the information I needed to make informed decisions about my care. My only gripe is that when I booked the appointment I was told my insurance was accepted, but then 48 hours before the appointment I was told it wasn’t and I’d have to pay out of pocket. I decided to keep my appt since I needed a check up and was long overdue, but I do wish I’d been told earlier about my insurance
Great service and great atmosphere….definitely not the usual dentist experience! 100% recommendSecond time coming and again it’s been a great experience all the way around!I absolutely love how my hygienist Nilsa Rozon took care of me. I will go back just to have her work on me!!!
My visit to Tend Williamsburg was absolutely wonderful. The manager at the front desk was so nice and helpful and the entire staff was so welcoming. There is a really good vibe at this dentist office. And the design of the studio is beautiful. Tend makes me love going to the dentist!
Try this place for the bells and whistles if you want, but please consider a second opinion if anything seems fishy! I found the surgeon and hygienist rude and condescending. More alarmingly, after a just couple of blurry x-rays (no one at Tend even looked in my mouth at my actual teeth) I was told that I needed multiple procedures done that would be very painful and expensive.I got a second opinion elsewhere that included a full exam. They also had to redo the x-rays from Tend (which I provided them with). I was ultimately told that my teeth were fine. The work actually I needed done was *significantly* less extensive, expensive, and invasive than the plan that Tend had come up with for me. Be careful! **As update to this review on top of everything above - I was randomly charged $200 5 months after my appointment with no notice or reason for this charge. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!
I had a much better experience here than anywhere else I’ve gone. The staff are all very kind and communicate everything up front in simple terms. I spent years avoiding the dentist because of how uncomfortable it can be but they made it much more bearable! I’m very appreciative!
I love tend!! Honestly so worth the money. Dr Choi is the best and so is everyone that works there. I have Breezy braces and they have moved my teeth pretty quickly. If I’ve had to come back in because something is out of place they book me right away. Excellent customer service always.
So at first I was just going to leave it be and not write anything, but I think itd be pretty useful to some of you in order to know what to expect when you visit Tend.First impressions were great, the staff was kind when booking, had follow up calls leading to my appointment, and they made sure I was set up properly prior to my arrival. When I arrived, I waited about 5-10 minutes max and was brought in for my cleaning. There wasnt much chit chat, just got right to explaining what the process was going to be for my visit, and my assistant got to cleaning.Post cleaning was where things got a bit odd. The doctor came in and took a look at my x-rays and started talking to her assistant. I barely understood a word, but after about 3-5 minutes, the doctor addressed me and explained all the work that needed to be done. When I looked at the cost, it was over $10,000!!!!!Yeah....okay.....youre running a business, but when you simply walk into a room and hand me a $10,000 SOW and say were just going to give you a root canal on the one tooth since its pretty close to the nerve but not on it to me is like saying yeah this is going to be easier for me to do so. Mind you they wouldnt be able to cap the tooth in the same day so I would essentially be walking around toothless for a day haha.Anyway, they called me to confirm my next visit. Initially when I saw a $10,000 SOW I was in shock and couldnt really think of what to ask, so I asked for the Dentist to call me back and explain how we might be able to split things up, what can be prioritized, and what can wait. Until that happened I would like to cancel the follow up I made and they obliged.Months go by and I hear nothing from Tend, and frankly I forgot all about them. Next thing I know, I get an e-mail reminding me about an upcoming appointment. I brush it off as I know I discussed this months ago and figured maybe their system didnt register this. The next morning, I saw a $75.00 no-show charge on my account. I was surprised and e-mailed the company. They happily refunded it.Today I get a call from a rep over at Tend saying we saw you cancelled your last appointment, would you like to reschedule at a later date? I replied by informing him that the dentist never reached out to review $10,000 of work she recommended (mind you months prior I was told someone would reach out to me which they didnt) and because of this, Id rather hand my hard earned money to someone that makes me feel like a client not a dollar sign(obviously I didnt say it like that but that is how I felt). The rep pretty much said okay I understand, have a good day.My afterthought having worked in customer services and sales for years was maybe try and see if I can make this better to retain this person as a client. Listen and see if I can help - instead, he dropped the ball. Ill be going elsewhere. My overall takeaway is they look like they want to provide a service nobody else is offering and be a large organization - I feel like they want to make as much money as they can from each client and roll on out to the next one!
Going to the dentist has always been a big stressor for me, but the team at Tend made me feel comfortable and relaxed! I genuinely enjoyed my visit and look forward to going back in 6 months, something I’d never ever thought I’d say!! I will be recommending Tend to all my friends and family! Tend is more like a spa than a dentist, and if you’re anxious like me going in for dental work of any kind, go here!
I took the day off at work and arrived to my appointment on time only to find out that it was canceled without a call or email. I even received a confirmation email in the morning. Youd think theyd let you know before you show up. I was looking forward to this experience, but now I may look elsewhere.
This office is CLEAN. And they continue to clean throughout the visit . I loved how knowledgeable Alpa was, she took her time answering my questions and eased my fears . Dr. Nisha was a delight . Honestly cannot wait to start my process with them, being someone who has severe anxiety at dentist .. this is the first place that hasn’t triggered any .
Had an incredible experience at Tend in Williamsburg. I’ve been looking for a new dentist nearby and came across them. The office is beautiful and modern; the staff was extremely professional and kind. They will check your insurance before doing any work to ensure you know what the cost will be. Felt very safe after being scared of going during the pandemic. Highly recommend!
I loved my experience here. From the moment I made my appointment and was able to select my cleaning flavor and a show to watch during it I was hooked. And the experience when I arrived was wonderful too. The space is open, clean, and very nice. The best part was the people though. Anthony was the best! So friendly and welcoming! And dr. Brad was great! This is my new dentist office for sure. Can’t go back to the old way now.
Very clean, i waited no less than 5 minutes upon arrival. I got a cleaning and my teeth felt and looked great. The Tech i think her name was Ilene or Arlene was patient with me and took her time. I really enjoyed the flatscreen on the ceiling, took my mind off of the procedure. Really cool spot. I will be back again.
Very modern and nice dentistry, thorough doctors. But please tell people if their insurance is in network BEFORE their appointment, not AFTER. They didn’t even have time to clean my teeth but thank God because it would have cost me an extra few hundred bucks OOP. Never got any quote prices before or during my appointment.
As a person who genuinely dreads the dentist, Im so thrilled to have found tend. The staff is great at easing anxiety, and didnt make me feel judged at all. Gorgeous, clean space, basically zero wait time, and the option to watch a show with noise cancelling headphones during the cleaning was absolutely amazing. thank you!
Booked yesterday, had my cleaning done this morning, and will go back in 6months. Everything is so convenient from booking, seeing available appointments, to knowing that they take your insurance. It really feels like were in 2021.The 90 minutes visit started by xrays, then dentist inspection, then cleaning and I was out.
This was the best experience Ive ever had at a dentist! The space was impeccably clean and absolutely gorgeous. All of the equipment was new and clean. The entire staff were thoughtful and helpful, and made my emergency visit so calm, and Dr. Lee was amazing. I couldnt recommend Tend enough it was such a great experience!
Really enjoyed the service/people, up-front cost, and beautiful spaces. It was a wonderfully fresh experience compared to nervously waiting for a crazy bill after a visit.Make sure you do your due diligence on how much youre charged, though. They charged me 4-5 months after I visited them so my memory was a bit fuzzy on the price they quoted me, but I had a hunch that they charged me more. I asked for the invoice, which said a number different from the one I was charged. Took almost 2 weeks of constantly following up and asking for an update. Only when I asked that I get a full refund until they figure things out did a customer support person call me to explain the mistake.I was obviously given the amount I was owed, but that was it. The guy on the phone was nice and apologetic, but I expected more given that their mistake affected both my time and money by a non-negligible amount. Reminds you that no matter how sleek their design and branding are, theyre a young company thats just learning to figure things out so the onus is on the consumer to watch out.
This was the most enjoyable dental experience Ive ever had. My hygienist Anthony was so fantastic and thorough and Dr. McLaughlin answered all my questions and concerns with ease. Being able to watch Netflix with noise canceling headphones so you dont have to hear the scratching and noises of the cleaning is genius and made everything so nice! If all dental visits were like this no one would be afraid of the dentist or dread going! Thanks again for a wonderful experience!
I just left my exam/cleaning and am feeling very pleased. Both my hygienist and dr. were personable, kind and neither exuded an iota of judgement at my 10+ year lack of any dental care. The office was chic and clean and the administration staff was friendly and helpful.
How it is going :I have updated this review to drop it another star-The below response from Tend:Response from the ownerHello there! Were so sorry to hear about this. A lead on our team will be reaching out to youIt has been 5 days and no one has “reached out”How it started :3 hours before an appointment that was made 6 months earlier, I got a call saying that Tend overbooked. The operations person wanted me to wait another month for a new appointment.I gave the tend representative my time requirements and asked to her call in 15 with a more appropriate date that would work with my schedule. No one called me.I then called the Tend office and the desk guy acted annoyed with me. He started to laugh at me during our call (i was in disbelief)I asked to talk to a regional manager . He said he didn’t know who that was. I asked to speak to his manager. I waited on hold for 20 mins. She arranged somehow for me to be seen 30 after the originally scheduled appointment:I showed up 5 minutes early (tend requests this in their website) they claim the average wait is 3 mins - lol 😂This appointment i waited 25 minutes past my scheduled time (or 30 mins because it is requested for you to be at least 5 mins early). This is the 3rd time being at Williamsburg that i waited over 20 minutes for a scheduled appointment. The saving grace of this place is the dentist and the dental assistant. They are always kind and great:Protip to tendThe ops team should be exited . They are going to ruin the practice.
Overpriced and poor patient bedside manner. Dont let the marketing and bright lights fool you! I visited Tend to get a check up and had 90 minutes for my whole appointment, only to be told I had to come back for a 2 separate deep cleanings and multiple cleanings afterwards but they never suggested any aftercare dental therapy and that Id just have to keep coming back to them for more cleaning. Furthermore the dentist discouraged any form of natural dental care or products because, well, America but this behaviour also made me feel like they dont want you to get better using methods that their patients may be more comfortable with. Went to another dentist and was quoted the same procedure for 1/3rd of the price Tend was quoting and then I knew they were a millennial appeasing scam cause no one should go broke just to pay their rent. Try Dental365 for a 2nd opinion, way more affordable dental care, they get straight to work on your immediate dental care needs, and they have friendlier staff who actually check up on you the next day. Super disappointed I wasted money at Tend. The more you know!
Fantastic experience! On arrival, I was checked in and seen to immediately. The Williamsburg location was clean and modern. Dr Teehan was kind, caring, patient and efficient, explaining each step to me along the way. I had absolutely no pain during or after my appointment. She has cured my fear of dentists! Would highly recommend!
This has been the best dental experience I have ever had. From the offices and equipment, to the staff, to the service itself. So great all around. My hygienist gave me great reccos on how to brush my teeth and even ran an oral cancer test For free, which I had never even been offered before. Incredible all around.
I was there last March. I got xrays and cleaning done. I didn’t do more work since their prices were higher than other places. I have been emailing and calling them for the past month to get my xrays so I can go to another clinic. They send a link and a username/password which doesn’t go through. I called many more times to get them as an attachment, they say they can’t send that for some complaint (which for some reason doesn’t apply to other dental clinics!) and haven’t sent me another user/pass. Basically they’re not releasing the xrays that I have already paid for, so I can’t go somewhere esle. I really don’t recommend this system.
Have to say that when I first went to tend, I would have given this a 5 star rating - modern and clean and just finally feeling like a dentist office for this century :). However the follow up and correspondance has been so so poor. Have been trying to schedule next appointment and it has been more than a month and tend still has yet to follow up with insurance and close out next steps with me. I have emailed, left messages but have received a lot of “will call you tomorrow” with no follow ups. Super disappointing and quite frankly unacceptable for a medical practice.
Ive never left a negative review, but feel compelled given the blatant incompetence and negligence that I experienced at Tend Williamsburg.Front desk staff failed to correctly identify/check in patients, resulting in the wrong person being taken back under my name/appointment! The dentist came running receptionists alarmed 10 minutes later, asking who the heck was in her chair! In this mess, I was met with extreme rudeness from the front desk staff as they insisted that my confirmation email stating that my insurance was in network is not valid, then realized they had checked someone in as me, potentially sharing sensitive personal and medical information in the process! My appointment was over 30 minutes late with no apology whatsoever for the incompetence, rudeness, or extreme inconvenience. Due to their failure to check me in on time, they asked if I would do half of the cleaning then and reschedule the other half for another day? Seriously?
It’s ok. marketing and advertising are good but still feels just like a regular dentist. super hard to get appointments in a reasonable timeframe which gives me pause esp when it comes to dental emergencies or ongoing treatments. i think they should advertise less to give existing customers a good experience. there’s another “dental startup” called Dntl Bar. they seem to advertise less and i had an easier time getting an appointment.
Tend provides the best dental services in New York City! I reckon it will be difficult to persuade me to go elsewhere after such wonderful experiences this past year. The level of professionalism, cleanliness, and attentiveness is consistent, and somehow the staff continually incorporate new ways to make your experience quite enjoyable. There is no irony with the aforementioned sentence. A visit to the dentist is usually accompanied by small bouts of anxiety and fear as you begin to contemplate on your overall dental hygiene. Fortunately, these emotions are easily removed once you enter their facilities. I had the luxury to engage in meaningful conversations with my dental hygienist about life, dentistry, and the vicissitudes associated with both. The level of optimism and advice shared with you is absolutely reassuring. I failed to mention whilst receiving said services, you are ensconced in a quality dental chair, and right above you theres a television screen readily available to present you with current Netflix programming. In addition, you get to wear really cool Warby Parker frames to prevent any debris coming into contact with your eyes during your dental services/procedures. So, what are you waiting for? Schedule an appointment as soon as you can to meet all your dental needs. You wont be disappointed. Always remember to keep on smiling. An extremely satisfied patron,Dennis Rosario
I used to believe I wanted a dentist as cool as Tend but when all the glitz and glamour fades away... they’re all the same.Prior to coming to Tend I was put off from a checkup from another dentistry in NYC that insisted I get a lot of work done to my teeth. I found Tend through social media like everyone else so I’d thought I’d give them a try.I went in for a cleaning/x-rays and was greeted by the nicest people. The dentist was straight forward with me and said I only had a couple things to take care of. One tooth would need a full inlay and another would need a filling. In my mind, this was way less than what the other dentistry suggested so I thought Tend wasn’t trying to scam me...They were upfront on the costs at the time so I set up an appointment to get the work done. The procedure would require two visits to get the porcelain tooth added. After the first visit, the dentist noted that the tooth was a lot healthier than he thought so he did a half inlay and my total charge would be even lower. I came back a couple weeks later to get my porcelain tooth added and set up my next appointment for cleaning in the new year.February 2021 and was treated by two NEW dentists for a cleaning. For a second I thought that was odd but maybe my first dentist was busy. During the cleaning, the new dentist pointed out two new cavities that my last dentist never pointed out to me. As she poked around my mouth I heard her say, “Oh, Yeah, we definitely need to redo this filling.” At the time I thought it was strange for her to say but at the time my mouth was numb from the cleaning (a whole other story I’d like to share..)After, the cleaning the receptionist said I had an outstanding balance of $200 on my account. “How is that possible when I’ve paid for everything from my recent visits,” It took an extra 20 min trying to figure out why but eventually sent me home while cc’ing me to an email to billing. When I got home, I checked my tooth that the new dentist picked at and come to find out she took out a chunk of my old filling. I called back instantly and the only thing the dentist could say was that it was going to eventually come out.Furious from my experience with my new dentist, I requested to speak with my first dentist. He eventually calmed down the situation by saying he would, “take care of it” (THIS DOESN’T MEAN FOR FREE IN DENTIST TERMS). I went back in for him to fix the filling and left not paying anything that day.Few days later the billing department emailed me back with an itemized list of charges. I see they were trying to charge me a full inlay instead of the half and also charging me for the filling that my first dentist said he would “take care of.” I told them to update the charges with the correct numbers and never got any word back.(Sorry this is so long but I have to get this off my mind)Soon to receive invoices from my insurance showing they wasn’t covering any of the inlays. I thought that was strange. One day, I received another letter my insurance cc’d me on, saying that they received my dentist first level of appeal for the inlay performed. When I called my insurance, they begin to inform me that they reviewed the claims with their professionals and the inlay wasn’t needed from the start. Only a simple filling was needed. They also told me they should have submitted a pre-approval form before starting that particular procedure. After writing a furious email to Tend revealing they’ve done a procedure that wasn’t necessary AND charging me for something that THEY broke, they instantly gave me a full refund and placed my balance to 0. I’m happy that it was resolved quickly and didn’t have to go to any further pain to get my money back. This has left a bad taste in my mouth with Tend. I thought going to a dentist that tried to ease the fear of going would help but... it didn’t.Try em out if you want but always be cautious. (ALWAYS GET A PRE-APPROVAL)u2028At the end of the day none of cheap gimmicks like having Netflix above you while you’re in the chair really mattered.
Really enjoyed every part of my experience with Tend! They’ve really thought of everything, from the booking process to the cleaning itself being much more enjoyable than the normal experience. My hygienist was super communicative about things to focus on when brushing/flossing. X-rays weren’t uncomfortable. And you get to watch Netflix on the ceiling with nice headphones and Warby Parker sunglasses during the cleaning!
I had a good visit, however given the pandemic there are two issues with this place:Staff didn’t practice or enforce social distancing. Even in the lobby as I left five guests/people gathered Near the front desk.Staff especially the lady cleaning my teeth didn’t wear a face shield. I expect full PPE on staff to protect themselves and me.Didn’t feel super safe but my teeth look great. Hope I don’t get sick!
I love this place. This is coming from someone who grew up in Williamsburg and had the same dentist since I was 6. I usually get really anxious about getting any dental work done, but the dentist sat right next to me and asked “what are you thinking about” and honestly, as someone with an anxiety disorder, that was the most calming and beautiful moment because she didn’t just brush it off or try to convince me to get over it; she took the time to hear me out.I love the TV’s and netflix, and absolutely love how they show you pictures of your teeth. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I try my best to see whats going on up in there using a mirror, so, it was cool to have them always show you the work they are doing with your teeth and how to take care of them. The technology is awesome too, I felt no pain while getting my filling.Love Tend, coming here forever!
I really enjoyed my teeth cleaning at Tend! The staff were super friendly when I walked in and took my temperature for safety measures. My hygienist, Stella, brought me back to my station right after I checked in. I got to pick out my toothpaste and netflix show AND got to wear warby sunglasses and beats headphones during my cleaning. Stella told me what she was doing every step of the way which kept me at ease. Dr. Skok came in at the and went through imagery that showed areas we will watch and wasn’t pushy about another service or unnecessary treatment. I’ll definitely be back!
Doctor Brad Mclaughlin is the BestI came in there begging because I was in alot of painHe accepted to see meHe was so overstanding and very patient with me throughout my whole visitHis Energy was so Pure and Warm feelingHe made sure I had everything I needed before I left and told me to not go to work eventhough I was insisting that I had to because it was a day before a holidayHe really showed how much he cared I truly recommend Dr BradThank You Youre The Best 😁
I went to Tend for a semi-annual check-up and cleaning. This was the first time I had been to this dentist office/chain. I chose this location based on the good reviews and the close proximity to my apartment. The office was really clean and new/updated. It had many bells and whistles, the modern luxuries one might expect in 2020.The cleaning service I received was interesting to say the least. My hygienist was a bit erratic and struggled through almost every step of the process (the X-rays, teeth photos, Netflix television/beats headphone setup, cleaning tools, teeth polishing). She dropped the tools in my mouth, once directly on my front teeth, constant water dripping down my cheek and neck, her directions on when to open, close and bite were unpredictable. Overall, not what I was expecting from such a nice looking office. While the room had bells (television on the ceiling to watch Netflix), it wasn’t setup for her to easily swivel from one side of the chair to the other so she did the entire cleaning (40 minutes) on the right side of my mouth. Which by the time my appointment came to an end, my jaw was really sore. I was never asked about my brushing or flossing routine from either the hygienist or dentist nor did the hygienist even bother to floss my teeth...I realized this when I got home, not while I was sitting in the chair. Also, I was disappointed I was never offered a disposable toothbrush/goodie bag on my way out. Not that this is a huge deal, but I’ve kinda become accustomed to this over the years. All in all, it was a fine office and sometimes people just have off/bad days. That said, I’ll probably give the place a second chance and go back for another cleaning in 6 months. I will be asking to schedule with a different hygienist.
I did come here got great service but now you call line always busy. I had appt in Feb canceled due to staff. It now April trying to get appt over 2 months ONLY get appt 5/4. What happened to the service? Are you still having staffing issues? This is very discouraging & disappointing 😞👎Why are you thanking me? Service may have been ok but you way overcharge for cleaning & told me you take my insurance. Turns out you do not & billed personally for teeth cleaning that should have been covered by my insurance. My advice is please be careful before you get overcharged 😡😟My
-the dentists are amazing and explain everything to you very thoroughly. however, the staff does not inform you of payments ahead of time NOR do they do the proper research to ensure youre coming in for the right procedure and you are covered for it. make sure you are very very clear with the staff and tell them MULTIPLE times what you are there for, and call ahead to check you are insured and they tell you the price ahead of time. very unhappy with the staff there but the dentists are wonderul
Forget everything you know about dentist visits. Tend takes it to a whole new level with their state of the art offices, no wait times, and the friendliest and most professional personnel. Oh, did I mention you can catch up on your Netflix shows while they do their magic?
Tend the dental center that claims to break normal dentist red tape standards and give you a seamless experience is anything but that. A lot of hype without the follow through. First my insurance was never verified, after arrriving I had to wait a half hour and was told I would need to break up my appointment. At the end they could not verify my insurance and I had to reschedule, this could have been dealt with on the phone. So the not so dentist is a pig in a white dress.
My only concern from my appointment is I was told I’d be called before I arrived if there were problems with my insurance and when I got there I was told my insurance still wasn’t verified. Aside from that, very thorough teeth cleaning and attentive hygienist/dentist.
I was told that there wii be no problem filling out my claims forms. That is not the case, they will not fill out claims forms for the patient to get reimbursed. Once you pay out of pocket they do nothing to help. Not a good practice for senior citizens that live on a fixed-income.
This location does not follow CDC recommended social distancing in their waiting room, cancels and reschedules appointments made a month in advance at the last minute (without confirming that you can make the new time), and has been a total nightmare to deal with.Go elsewhere and avoid getting infected with Covid while you wait for an appointment which is never going to happen.
Tend actually makes me look forward to the dentist. I’ve tried a few Ny facilities and they’re lackluster. Old, expensive equipment in old decaying buildings worked by angry burnt out people.Tend turns this on its head. Brilliant people. Beautiful facilities. Excellent service.I hope it stays that way and they take care of their workers to keep them happy and energized just like they are now.
Asked if they were in network with my insurance when I booked the appt. Asked again when they confirmed the appt. Asked a third time at the front desk at check in. 7 months later they are threatening to charge hundreds of dollars to my credit card because “my insurance company mailed me a check to then pay them” Uh. No. You billed using an out of network dentists name at the practice instead of an in network dentist even tho I confirmed confirmed confirmed. Manipulative and predatory behavior. Avoid.
Shoutout to Nicole the hygienist at the Williamsburg location literally made my mouth the cleaniest it has ever been. I left the deep cleaning feeling brand new and ready to show my teeth to the world through my mask. I’d throw roses at Nicole’s feet if I could. Thank you so much.
In the midst of COVID19, one staff member was walking in and out of patient rooms without covering her face with mask. She was conversing with patients and staff no social distancing. There’s need to be more accountability and training. It’s the law to wear masks and protect everyone. Very scary no staff addressed such behavior and negligence.

2022-05-25Tend was by far the best dental experience I’ve had in my adult life. The facility, the customer service the hygienists, and the dentists were all phenomenal.I was quite nervous to take the initial dental exam as I had not seen a dentist since before the pandemic, but everyone was so informative and assuring. I left with a clear progress plan and a few appointments booked for necessary treatments. The Williamsburg location is super convenient and although it’s on a bustling block the dental studio is very peaceful. I definitely recommend Tend for all oral health services.

2022-08-05Everyone I interacted with was very welcoming and professional. The environment is clean, modern, and well designed. Seems like they are much more technology-forward than any other dentist I have gone to in the past. My hygienist and dentist were knowledge, friendly, and provided great service. Will continue going here and would absolutely recommend!

2022-03-05Paid in full for braces and tried to take advantage of the Breezy Tracker that Tend offers on your online personal profile. However Tend doesnt actually use and update the Tracker. I called twice within the span of the 6 weeks that its supposed to take to prepare the braces, to get insight into the status of my braces that this Tracker is supposed to give. The customer service lady said that she had never heard of the online Tracker. In calling, I received no insight as to the status of my braces, but was assured that they were on the way. A week before I was supposed to get them installed, Tend calls me and says that the braces havent even begun to be made because they need more scans from me. I had to go get another scan and now have to wait another 6 weeks for the braces to be installed. The only reason that I am putting up with this is because the braces are cheaper than other places that offer the same kind of braces. The orthodontist and assistants are nice, but if you dont want your time wasted, you might be better off going elsewhere, because logistically they are a mess.

2022-07-23Had some issues with scheduling as they kept scheduling me for the grand central location and I live right next to the one in Williamsburg. As some reviews said they aren’t great about letting you with enough notice know when they cancel.Don’t like that you cannot choose your doctor initially but they have been great about my preferences. I have stayed with the same doctor for my treatment plan and she is wonderful. The receptionist is always professional and helpful and most importantly, competent. Definitely sign up for an online account it makes life that much easier to see if anything needs to be adjusted. I’d prefer to have a personal “old school” dentist but when I moved here this seemed like the best option and I’ll stick with them.

2022-07-20I am so glad i read reviews before going to Tend. I hadn’t been to the dentist in a year for a cleaning due to moving, and was excited to try tend. When i get there they immediately tried to up sell me for a “deep cleaning” that is thousands of dollars (per reviews I anticipated this). I told the hygienist that I just want a regular cleaning to which she said she can’t do a regular cleaning if i need the deep cleaning. I said i would go somewhere else, and magically after talking to the doctor a regular cleaning was sufficient. After a perfectly normal cleaning experience and no cavities, i was told that i need to come back in 4 months vs 6 months due to the “state my teeth were in”. Insurance only covers 2 cleanings a year so they were basically telling me i had to pay for an extra cleaning out of pocket because my teeth were so bad even though i had no cavities and it was a normal cleaning! This place feels like a money trap and be prepared to refuse things if you do go.

2022-03-02Really disappointed after a great start. Multiple cancelled appointments meaning a 6 week check up is now 4 months out on a dental plan worth thousands of dollars. No apology and no call back from customer service. I would NOT recommend. Clearly no real care for paying customers.

2022-06-30Tend is literally the only dental office I’ll go to now! It’s just extremely easy, accessible, and consistent. I’ve been to other offices and had a lackluster cleaning done, but the hygienist here really take their time and do a nice, deep clean! No weird up selling or anything like that. I just love tend! 🦷❤️

2022-03-22Edit: I didnt get my pain and antibiotic prescription for 48 hours after leaving Tend and getting oral surgery, putting me at risk of getting a serious infection. My face was so swollen I could barely talk and my sister had to call them twice to get a team lead to actually do something. After I finally got my medication they tried to act as though everything was okay and that I should be thankful they did anything at all. They dont care about their patients when mistakes are made, which is the most telling thing about a new business.Original Review: I’m a fan of Tend, but had a bad experience at Tend Williamsburg when getting my wisdom teeth removed. Everything started as normal, however after I arrived and was brought to procedure room it went downhill. There was a lot of confusion. The dental assistant asked me if I was there for a consult, which I already had. I explained I was there for oral surgery. Then she asked me to take a panoramic X-ray which I’d also done before.I felt better when she gave me numbing gel and told me to wait for the doctor. But I waited TWO hours for the doctor to arrive. Once she did ah e was sweet and seemed just as confused as I was about why I had waited for so long. After the surgery I was told my prescriptions would be sent to my pharmacy (Capsule) but after arriving home and not hearing from them for an hour I called Capsule to be told Tend hadnt sent anything and when they tried to call Tend was closed. They gave me options for over the counter drugs to deal with the pain but I was really upset and am considering looking for another dentist.

2022-06-26I went in for a cleaning, they said I actually needed a deep cleaning which would be $1700 without insurance rather than the $350 I was going to pay for a normal cleaning, and would require full numbing of the gums. I took my X-rays and got a second opinion from another dentist as well as a family member who’s a dental hygienist and both said that scaling & root planning was completely unnecessary and that a normal cleaning is all I need. Still ended up paying $250 out of pocket just for them to tell me they couldn’t do the cleaning I came in for.

2022-07-25I came in for a basic exam and they told me I would need at least four veneers and essentially told me I need a lot of cosmetic work done. Gave me a quote of $13k and told me that a basic deep cleaning required two visits.Loudly disclosed my dental history in front of an entire waiting room, which is illegal and a HIPPA violation.Protect your personal info and your self-esteem and go somewhere with qualified providers.
