Heard from friend and decided to try them out. It was not a disappointment at all. Food was ready in 15 minute and well packed. Order manchow soup, schezuan dumpling, veg hakka noodles and chicken fried rice. All food quantity was ample for price. Soup was perfect consistency and delicious. Dumplings were also great. One of few places i recommend for dumplings now!! Fried rice and noddle brought back memories of street food taste from India. Over all great food!!!Also family run and staff was super friendly and helpful with questions!! Definitely will be back to try other items on menu!! Perfect bland of indo Chinese and authentic Chinese food!!Better then any other halal Chinese which are either too bland in taste or too fusionend!!Hope taste remains same with time!
I am glad we went to this restaurant for an authentic indo Chinese food. The food was fresh and really good. We got chicken Manchurian wings, Hakka chicken, shrimp manchurian noodle, and pan friend momo dumpling. Unlike other reviews, I liked chicken manchurian wings and the manchurian noodle the best. We also got to know a little bit about the restaurant and the owner. The owners themselves are Indian Chinese and it was such a nice of the owner’s son to tell us about the history of his family and restaurant as we were already wondering about their indo Chinese heritage. So far it was a good experience.
This place made their whole menu halal and we gave it a try and I gotta say it was delicious. We ordered general tso, manchurian beef, noodles soup, and the brown rice, all those dishes were made right and they were not too oily. All those dishes were delicious, full of flavor and very filling. The staff was extremely friendly, humble and made sure we got what we needed and asked us where we’re from. This place is so worth it. Their atmosphere is amazing. The best part it saves a trip to tangra. I wish the place was a little bigger for more seating but it is still worth coming here. Second time we ordered food from here a month ago since my family was over and it was still delicious. I’ll definitely me making another stop soon. I was extremely satisfied with this place and it was clean. I recommend my friends to come here and try it out. This place is definitely better than most Chinese places I have had. I’m glad more and more places are opening up on Long Island. Overall this place deserves a 10/10.
My go to Hakka restaurant in NY. Originally being from Toronto, I know what good Hakka tastes like. Ive been in NY since 2015 and wasnt able to find any Hakka restaurant close to those in Toronto but Tengs is as close as you can get. The other hakka competition isnt even close to the consistency and quality of food Tengs has provided over the past several visits. Highly recommend!
Ate here for the first time. I was very impressed. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. While it has table space, currently they are only doing take out. Had four dishes, Chicken w/Bean Sprouts, Shrimp w/Garlic Sauce, beef Udon Noodle and Dumplings which they called (Mo Mo). All accompanied with white rice. The food was very tasty and all dishes had excellent amount of sauce to make it tasty. The spice level was just right, but they give you extra sauces if you want to ramp it up more to your taste. This is an Taiwan/Indian Chinese food and it by far surpasses the regular Chinese foods in the area.Tengs is definitely a must add if you want great takeout.I cant wait to experience their dine in as it can only get better. This will be one of my regular places for take out.Ample parking in the free lot too.
We were their guests few days ago and we ordered sesame noodles, Tom Yung Goong soup and Tom Kha soup, chilli beef and manchurian noodles. Everything was so delicious and fresh. Soups werr freshly made and tasted so good but chilly beef was out of this world!I am glad that I discovered this hidden gem and will be going there once a week to support this business. Amazing food, amazing family with such a positive energy.Btw.they have halal certification.
Teng’s is a special place. It’s a friendly, family run business with delicious food and ample portions. Hakka cuisine (Indo-Chinese) is spectacular, and Teng’s does a fantastic job. Whether you’re adventurous, looking for a familiar staple, or want some heat, they have something for everyone.Try the Manchuria Chicken for a sweet and spicy ginger, lime, and cilantro treat. Or Crispy Hong Kong Noodles for a crispy bed of pan fried noodles with brown sauce, vegetables, chicken, and shrimp. For an appetizer, pan-fried momos (dumplings) are always a hit, or stretch outside your comfort zone with Chicken Pakora, for a crispy, juicy, mouth watering treat with a dipping sauce that’s out of this world.
This is a family owned business and everything is self service; from ordering food at the counter to getting your own drinks, utensils, and stuff. The food is hands down finger-licking delicious. We ordered the fried wings, sweet and sour chicken, manchurian chicken, hakka chili chicken, orange chicken, and green thai curry. The fried wings were so crispy and tender and they came with a side of tamarind sauce, which was amazing! All the different chicken dishes we ordered came with a side of rice. Orange chicken was super good, it came cooked with actual oranges in the sauce and some fresh cut oranges on the side. Hakka chili chicken is a must try!! I totally loved it. The food portions are huge and the prices are so reasonable. The service was quick and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend this to everyone specially if you’re looking for halal chinese, this place is a must try.
Ordered take out, they were super busy but got my order in under the approximated 30 minutes. Food was very good, Im definitely coming back. The older gentleman behind the counter was unfriendly to my 1.5 year old son. So I dont think Ill be dining in until my kids are older. Everyone else was nice.
I drove 3.5 hours from New Jersey to try Hakka Chinese food at Tengs Garden in Long Island. I really enjoyed the food here and it was authentic Hakka cooking to my great delight. I ordered Chilli chicken and Thai spice crispy fish which was delicious and other item ; every item was good as well. I recommend them to everyone, you wont be disappointed.
Let’s start with the basics. After all, you’re looking at reviews because of the quality of food. The food. Is… AMAZING! I’ve done single entrees and small orders and I’ve also gotten party sized trays from Teng’s and the quality of food has been immaculate and delicious.Furthermore the party tray sizes are enormous. I ordered food for 8 people, had 9 show up and still ate leftovers for about 3 days.Last but not least. These folks are some of the friendliest and most hospitable people I’ve met. Highly and extremely recommended!
Don’t let the modest decor fool you, this place is a 10 in flavor. My wife and I came here for the first time, not knowing what to expect. We were thoroughly impressed with both the food and the kind reception we got from the staff. Fully recommend them for dine in or take out.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. First the owners are such nice people. They always address you by name and takes notes about your preferences which is awesome. They know I like spice so they always give me extra hot oil. Everything there is homemade down to to duck sauce and mustard. I love the Hakka chili hot chicken. I strongly recommend Tengs.
If I could give half or quarter stars, it would be just under 4 stars. We did take out so the service was quick which we appreciated. We got the Udon Noodles with beef, General Tsos chicken, Chili Fish & Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp & Chicken. The flavors were great however the reason I cant give it full stars is because of how oily the food was especially the udon noodles. It had pool of oil in it and it just kept slipping out of my fork in a not so good way.I will probably give them another chance though because the flavor was great, maybe it was just an off day with the oil.
Their service is really bad. We specifically ordered veg basil fried rice and the person taking our order confirmed that we wanted no meat in the dish. After getting home we saw that it had chicken and shrimp in it. We called and asked if they could deliver the correct item we ordered since it was their mistake. In response, not only did they refuse to deliver, but expected us to return to the store with the improper dish and swap it out. The employee was rude and ridiculously claimed they put meat in the dish because we ordered two meat items. He was very rude while talking with my wife and I had to intervene. Worst customer service experience. 😑 Dont recommend...
Saw the 4.6 star rating and thought I would give them a shot because the family was craving “Chinese food.” The delivery arrived quickly and all the dishes taste like high quality restaurant food and not the typical Chinese takeout. Ordered the Hakka chicken, Singapore noodle, teriyaki salmon, and Hakka shrimp. I would recommend them all.
I am never disappointed when I order from here...I can guarantee that no matter what you order from here , yu will love. If you like spicy, you will find many options for that too. If youre not sure about an item, they will explain in detail what you are getting. #whosbetterthanmikeandlin
This place is the best, forget the rest! Though not your traditional Chinese offering a mixed cuisine of Indian Hakka Chinese and Thai the food is awesome and is better than the poor choices on Long Island and I find it particularly funny to that effect because the owner said his customers say that to him and I never said anything to him about what I felt on the subject!Havent been this excited about Chinese on Long Island since visiting Pekin Duck in Babylon! Apps Thai spring rolls were out of this world crispy and delicious I wanted more and the crabmeat ravioli with spicy mayo were delectable, entrées were Hakka Chili Shrimp and Crispy Beef with both being outrageously flavorful though both needed a little more heat which my wife and I satisfied with the provided hot oil! Everything was reasonably priced and we left graciously thanking the Tengs for the wonderful meal and insight into their cuisine!! Highly recommended !!!
This is honestly the BEST CHINESE FOOD I’VE EVER HAD!!! We ordered for the first time tonight, wanted something fresh and fast. Everything was just delicious. My husband has had a hard time lately with other places and he really enjoyed it! My kids LOVED IT (score)! I usually get bloated after eating Chinese, and this time I just kept eating. It didn’t give me that stuffed feeling... was just right! So happy to have found this place and I hope they are around for a long time to come!!!! PS, the delivery was here in record time.... love love love!!!!
We ordered a lot of food & honestly were not impressed. The Hakka Chili beef had a hint of seafood so Im not sure if the oils were mixed when frying but it was also tough & stringy so I barely ate it.The mango shrimp was more sauce & peppers than anything else...the scallion pancakes tasted over fried. The chicken manchurian & dumplings were ok.Based on the reviews, maybe it was an off day. Id try it again but it wasnt the best 1st experience.
In general, this is not the typical Chinese (Cantonese) food most people might be accustomed to. I love Cantonese style but after decades of that familiar cuisine, its kind of interesting to enjoy cooking from a different region of that country. Quality of ingredients and preparation is quite good as well as service.
WARNING: EXPLICITLY DESCRIPTIVE REVIEW BELOW:Tengs Restaurant in Levittown, NY was one of my first experiences getting take out since this whole situation started. Being someone who is overly cautious we really havent had much since March so I was really excited about this. First thing I noticed was that they had a note that they wouldnt not allow customers inside the restaurant without a mask.Already off to a safe and comforting visit.Folks, this isnt your typical Chinese or Japanese take out place as they are more classified as Hakka Indian-Style Japanese Cuisine which is one of a kind and everyone enjoyed this in our household (from both kids, adults and the dog stealing from everyone). The Tom Kha soup with chicken (minus the mushrooms because those are gross IMO) was incredible. The broth by itself has an array of flavors that danced my tastebuds into a frenzy. This sweet coconut combined with that zingy lemongrass wrapped and then some chili drops on top to give it some kick. This was a fantastic way to start for me.They shared the Wonton Soup which was so good my wife and two kids fought over the last wonton. The dog won though as she jumped up and knocked the remainder of the soup with said lonely wonton on the floor. Bad girl, though I thought I saw a smirk. The Chicken Lo Mein got me going back for seconds. My wife and I normally put extra soy sauce on that dish whenever weve gotten it at places in the past from others and we actually noticed there were no packets in the To Go bag. Well there is a reason for that as it has so much flavor that we both agreed it would have ruined the dish for sure. Kudos to the chef over there as they really know what they are doing!Sweet and Sour Chicken was supposed to be just for the kids as they are really picky eaters. Plus, my wife and I generally hate that dish because normally we have to press it between two napkins to get all the grease out. These didnt look like your typical order. They were as my 7 year old said, Crispity Crunchy and that sauce complimented it perfectly! (Confession: my wife and I even wound up stealing some when they werent looking.)Mango Chicken, all I can say is, where have you been all my life? Why has it taken me 38 years to experience this phenomenal dish? As you may have picked up on before, I am a fan of sweet and spicy from my insane soup analysis. The dish was swimming in this vibrant delicious pool that had specs of chili peppers to remind my tongue this was a savory sauce, not a dessertOverall I cant recommend this place enough as everything we got was top notch. Nothing leaked on the way home, the staff was very gracious and they happily accepted my Foodie Card so I got to save even more money!
I loved this restaurant so much I had to leave a review here And on yelp! Good authentic tasting restaurants are sparse on long island. The taste was phenomenal their mo mos are the best I ever had and their scallion pancakes are one of the best quality. I also had the green curry and it was just like curry from a good Thai restaurant, super authentic tasting. The workers were so friendly and nice! Service was amazing, didnt wait long for food. All and all really a great experience and taste, my new favorite local restaurant!!
The food is delicious and the service is excellent! This is a wonderful establishment. The portion sizes are great for the price paid, especially for takeout. Im visiting from Tampa, FL and took food back home with me. Ive ordered hakka chili chicken, hakka fried rice, hakka rice noodles, chicken with cashew nuts, eggplant with garlic sauce. All delicious!!!
My wife and I have been dying for good Asian food since moving to Long Island over the Summer. Weve tried so many different spots and have always been disappointed...until last night. Tengs is amazing. We tried the General Tso and Cashew Chicken as well as the Crab Ravioli and Szechuan Dumpling appetizers and all were amazing. The food was amazingly fresh and of the highest quality, definitely a step up from the average takeout joint. The staff was warm and friendly in person as well as on the phone. Five stars well earned!!!
Tengs chinese is absolutely in a category by itself. Chinese take-out has never been so fresh and flavorful. The Mapo Tofu was cooked to perfection. Next time I need to double the order on this one because my meat loving family couldnt get enough of this vegetarian dish and the wonderful sauce it comes with. We ordered the thin noodles and some chicken and beef dishes too. This is the first time we have had NO leftovers! We have definitely found our go to chinese!
I just discovered this spot recently and I am so glad I did!! The food was incredibly delicious and I couldnt have been happier. I traveled to many places across Asia and this place reminds me of all of those. this is now my new favorite local spot and Ill be bringing all my friends !! The Szechuan momo was my favorite dish. A must try!
Hidden Gem. Top notch operation. Very nice, modern restaurant. Staff was very professional and kind. Food prepared using fresh ingredients. Different from common Chinese Food restaurants, expect a better quality of food here made using unique recipes. Highly recommend!
Super disappointed with the chicken and mixed vegetables dish. Half of the protein portion of the dish is tofu which there is no such description of anywhere that I could find on the menu. You barely get any chicken at all! On top of that, it is almost twice the price of other similar restaurants where you will get only chicken as your protein as assumed when you order, chicken and mixed vegetables and a lot more of it. Also, pretty jarring and gross when you believe you are biting into chicken (since it looks exactly like that from the outside) and it is not! Really deceiving way to save on costs but a great way to lose a future customer.
Have been enjoying Teng’s for months now...lunch and dinner. Michael the owner is always pleasant and happily explains each dish and all its ingredients ...you can see the passion he has for his style of cooking. His lovely wife Lin is always there with Michael taking care of all your needs. We will be dining at Teng’s again on Saturday the 18th with friends we’ve previously brought with us.Definitely give Teng’s a try and tell your friends!!!
I have eaten at Tengs a few times I think the food is not only NOT run of the mill but excellent but dont take my word for it lets look at the facts there are 20 reviews 17 are 5 stars 1 - 4 stars and 2-1 star in my opinion the 1 star reviews are individuals with an agenda If you can handle upscale food in a spotless place with excellent service this is a place for you .

2021-12-29Very satisfied that there is finally an authentic Halal Chinese Restaurant on Long Island. Not only is it Chinese, they have items on the menu that your usual Chinese place doesnt have.We had the Hakka Chilli Chicken which was very different on our palate. Took a minute to get the taste right away, but once it hit it was very pleasant.Beef and Broccoli was well portioned and we went home fully satisfied knowing that we dont have to travel all the way to Queens to have Halal Chinese.

2022-06-11The family that runs it is really nice. Some of the dishes were quite good. A word of caution, be really careful if you have food allergies or requirements at this particular restaurant. There was a disconnect between the front and back of the house and I was given dishes that contained an ingredient I cant eat. We caught once the food was on my fork.

2022-06-24Amazing portions and delicious food. Good prices (Most things under $12) Friendly staff. Cashier greeted us with a smile and made sure we knew where all the essentials were (plates, utensils) and even brought us different sauces to try. (Pictured: Top- Manchurian chicken and Hakka chicken. Bottom- Sesame chicken) Will definitely be returning!

2022-01-01I found Tengs from a NYC halal food facebook group Im in. It seemed very popular, so I brought my in-laws for dinner. Its mostly aimed at takeout, and it was very busy when we came on New Years day. Despite that, our food came out pretty fast and what I really loved was that the family that runs the business seem like genuinely good people. The food was excellent, we got crispy beef, Hakka chilli chicken, udon noodles, fried rice, momo dumplings, and everything was really tasty. I think the hakka chicken was my personal favorite. Were very happy to have a high quality halal Chinese food option in the neighborhood, and I hope Tengs continues to thrive.

2021-11-16Hands down, I think the best halal hakka / Chinese restaurant on Long Island, NY. Since this was my first time ordering from here, I wanted to try everything! So I definitely went overboard with my order, however, WORTH IT!I ordered chicken sweet corn soup, steamed chicken dumplings, Sichuan chicken dumplings, hakka chicken wings, chicken fried rice, chicken hakka noodles, Chilli beef, and orange chicken.I honestly cant remember the last time I was so satisfied with a meal. Every single item was incredible, fresh, and tasted amazing. We all wanted a legit halal Chinese place on Long Island, NY. Guess what? We got it. This is it.Sure, its not your traditional Chinese, most dishes have a twist of hakka, however, there are plenty of dishes that are traditional Chinese. And best part? Youre not paying Long Island prices! All items were very fairly priced and comparable to the prices of Fatimas Halal in Astoria, NY (currently closed) or Halal Kitchen in Maspeth, NY. Taste wise, I think this was much better. If you want to compare this to other hakka Chinese places, I would think Sagar Chinese and New Chili and Curry come to mind. And in my honest opinion, this blows them out of the water. I am not even going to mention the 2 other halal Chinese places that opened up on Long Island, as they definitely need to improve their quality and taste if they want to compete with Tengs.Quick overview of their food:- Chicken sweet corn soup: Perfectly seasoned and made. It tasted very fresh. They also give you sauces on the side, if you want to spice it up.- Steamed chicken dumplings: So, I like the momos from Momo Crave. These momos are not like those. They are from a different region. So for Chinese dumplings, these are good. However, if there was one thing I felt that they could probably improve upon, it would probably have to be their dumplings, but again, they were good, just not great as everything else was.- Sichuan chicken dumplings: My wife wasnt a huge fan of this but I love me some peanut sauce! That is what this was. Regular momos, in Sichuan peanut sauce! I enjoyed it.- Hakka chicken wings: Incredible! Perfectly cooked and coated with the hakka sauce. I really loved this one.Chicken fried rice: Fresh, perfectly made. The flavor profile was all there. Not too much, not too little. They were amazing. Oh and unlike some other halal hakka places, they did not use day old rice. Again, it was fresh and the proportions of all the ingredients was perfectly balanced.- Chicken hakka noodles - Tasted very close to traditional lo mein. It was really good.- Chilli beef: Probably the best chili beef Ive had, ever. The proportions of the chili to beef and onions was perfect. They didnt just put a pound of green chilies in there and called it chili beef, no. They made it to perfection. The beef was perfectly tender, yet crispy on the outside. The flavor was perfectly balanced. Not too spicy or salty, but actually very flavorful. You could taste the love that it was made with.- Orange chicken: Same as the chili beef. Probably one of the best Ive ever had. The sauce was perfect. Not too sweet and not bland. Just enough to let the orange flavor shine, without tasting like youre eating an orange jam. It was truly magnificent. I am not sure why most other restaurants make their orange flavor so sweet and overpowering. They probably just get the generic orange sauce from Restaurant Depot and call it a day. Tengs orange chicken seemed like they took their time in making this amazing sauce. The balance was great and again, as with all their other food. It was very flavorful.I think Tengs Restaurant will be a huge success on Long Island, NY - as long as they are able to maintain this type of quality and taste. I am so happy that I dont have to go all the way to Maspeth or Astoria to get decent halal Chinese anymore. This is probably the best halal hakka/Chinese option around!

2022-05-16Best Chinese Food in Long Island. No debate. Workers are friendly and can speak like 5 languages. Food is on point. Every single dish we got was a solid 10/10. Highly recommend pulling up here!!!

2022-05-15This is my second time eating here. The first time I had chicken and broccoli and fried rice. I stay safe the first time I eat at a Chinese place. It was okay. Nothing special tbh. This time i ventured a bit. I got general tsos chicken and I got Hakka chili chicken. I also got the wings with tamarind sauce. The wings were fried wings. The dipping sauce was pretty good. Thats where the good ended. The chicken in both dishes was rubbery. I spent 40 dollars on all this food. And the chicken is buffet quality. At least when I go to a buffet i know what im getting. This was 40 dollars and i cant even eat the majority of this food. The portions may be generous, but that doesnt make up for the rubber chicken in these dishes. It looks like im going to stick to the Orient. Its similarly priced and the food quality is far higher. Dont eat here.

2022-06-05Great food and very friendly service! Would definitely recommend trying this place, the food was really taste and well portioned. Will eat here again for sure.
